Nigerian Army arrests suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Kano

Suspected Boko Haram terrorists were on Saturday evening, May 8, arrested by soldiers in Hotoro North in Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

A resident, Malam Muhammed Amadi told Daily Trust that soldiers arrived the newly moved-in house situated at Filin Lazio of the area by 9:15 pm and whisked away some occupants of the apartment.

Amadi said the arrest was made without any resistance from the suspects and no single arm was fired during the operation that ended in less than 30 minutes.

Another resident told the publication that the residence where the suspects were arrested had been a centre of concern to many residents, adding that it had become a joint for migrants from the north-east especially Borno State.

He said;

“The flamboyant lifestyle of the people and their peculiarity has raised serious concern among residents and I believe the arrest made was an outcome of these raised concerns.

“I have heard stories that the suspects were arrested in a mosque. This is just a speculation as they were arrested in a house, not in a mosque.”

Army spokesperson in Kano, Captain Njoko Irabor confirmed the development and said a statement will soon be released.

Irabor said the operation was intelligence-based and part of an ongoing operation to rid Kano State of criminal elements that may want to take advantage of the relative peace in the state to hibernate and plan attacks.

Knifeman goes on a stabbing spree in New Zealand supermarket, injuring several people

Three shoppers are fighting for their lives after a knifeman went on a stabbing spree at a Countdown Supermarket in Dunedin, New Zealand on Monday, May 10.

Eyewitnesses said there was chaos as a knifeman injured several people in Dunedin before walking into a police station next door.

Three of those stabbed are in critical condition.

The alleged attacker was arrested after the horror unfolded at 2.35pm local time, NZ Herald reported.

Zealand supermarket

Police have praised the bravery of shoppers who intervened to confront a man in the “random attack”.

Southern police district commander Paul Basham told reporters police responded within minutes.

Officers found four people with stab injuries and the alleged offender, who had been detained by members of the public.

He praised the bravery of shoppers who tried to intervene. Basham said they had acted selflessly and were heroic.

Zealand supermarket

“The credit goes to the members of the public who acted heroically,” he said.

He continued: “This was a fast-moving and extremely traumatic event for every person in that supermarket – the victims who were injured, those present who tried to intervene and those who had to flee to a place of safety.”

It was the very early stages of the inquiry, including the motivation of the attack.

“We believe this was a random attack,” he said.

The alleged stabber was injured and is currently in hospital under police guard.

Zealand supermarket

The officer told reporters: “Before I came to speak to you this afternoon, I have viewed the CCTV footage which is quite traumatic. What I can say is those that intervened, some of who became injured themselves, I think have acted selfless and great courage to prevent this man from hurting anybody else – and indeed I think they did just that.”

He said while the proximity of emergency services to the supermarket “undoubtedly” helped, the credit goes to the members of the public who intervened.

“God forbid the status of those victims deteriorates overnight, and then we would be looking at something else. But let’s hope that’s not the case.”

Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, said there was nothing to suggest a domestic terror event according to the current police investigation.

“Needless to say such an attack is hugely concerning,” she told a post-Cabinet press conference as she praised passers’-by bravery and said her thoughts were with those injured.

Japan: 25-year-old wife charged with killing her 77-year-old millionaire husband

An ex-Pornstar, Saki Sudo, 25, has been charged with murdering her spouse, Kosuke Nozaki, 77, who reportedly liked sex so much he was called ‘don juan’ after notoriously claiming he had bedded 4000 women and also demanded sex three times a day.

Saki Sudo

Business tycoon Kosuke Nozaki, who made his fortune through real estate, agriculture and money lending, married the suspect in February 2018 in the Japanese city Tanabe.

He was dead within months, according to Japanese news site Tokyo Reporter.

Saki Sudo

Before his death, Nozaki had brushed off warnings that his ex-porn star wife only married him for his money after she was spotted on lavish shopping trips around the world.

He wrote in his memoir: “I am sorry for the 99 per cent of people who wish for this marriage to fall apart, but I am confident that I will be happy.”

In the memoir, he said frequent sex was the secret to staying young and he wished to die and go to heaven while having sex.

“Our time in the bedroom is also fun. I’m convinced that is the secret to staying young,” he wrote.

“We have a quota of sex three times a day and I don’t need Viagra. I know having so much sex may cause my death, but if I can die having sex and go to heaven then I am good.”

Saki Sudo

Sudo was arrested in Tokyo last month after cops raided her home.

Police authorities allege Sudo killed her husband as phone records show several internet searches for “stimulant drugs” and poisons on Sudo’s phone.

She was flown back to Wakayama, where she had lived with her husband, and has now been charged with murder.

In 2016, the businessman wrote a book called ‘Don Juan of Wakayama’.

He wrote: “The reason I make money is to date attractive women.”

When he popped the question to Sudo, he reportedly asked her: “Would you like to be my last woman?”

Shortly after his death, Sudo appointed herself president of her late husband’s million-dollar company, it is claimed.

She is said to have wanted to flee Japan after the funeral, but was restricted by Covid-19 travel restrictions.

West Brom relegated from English Premier League

West Brom have been relegated from the Premier League after a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday, May 9.

Following the loss, Sam Allardyce’s team are 10 points away from safety in the English top flight with just three games left to play making it mathematically impossible to claw back to safety.

West Brom relegated from English Premier League

West Brom went behind against the Gunners less than 30 minutes into the clash when Emile Smith Rowe struck from close range.

Then Nicolas Pepe doubled the home side’s lead in the 35th minute by smashing into the top corner. Matheus Pereira gave the visitors hope in the second half before Willian wrapped up the points with a late free kick.

“It’s not sunk in yet, but I’m sure I’ll wake up tomorrow and realise the situation,” Sam Allardyce told BT Sport. “I’m bitterly disappointed we’re not still in the fight.

“I’m not saying we would have avoided relegation but we should have been closer, we should have taken it down to the last three games, based on how we performed. The creating of chances has been there but the converting has not.

“We had [enough] time to pull it round. Our real problem was not beating the bottom-six sides when we came up against them. The results against Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City should have been bonus points.”

West Brom still have games against Liverpool, West Ham and Leeds to round off the campaign.

After just one season back in the top flight, they will return to the Championship with Sheffield United, while Fulham look set to follow, having taken just one point from their last six games.

This is the first time in 17 years Sam Allardyce will be relegated from the top flight .

BREAKING!! Nigerian Govt. to Release the Names Of Boko Haram Sponsors and Banditry

The Attorney-General of the Federation has disclosed that some high profile Nigerians will be facing prosecution for financing terrorism/Boko Haram. This is coming after over 400 businessmen were arrested in an operation coordinated by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), and in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Malami who addressed newsmen on Friday May 7, said the arrest of some of the suspects followed the recent conviction of some Nigerians for financing terrorism in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He also disclosed that gave rise to a wider and far-reaching investigation in Nigeria.

He said; “As you will actually know, some time back, there were certain convictions of Nigerians allegedly involved in terrorism financing in the United Arab Emirates.

“That gave rise to a wider and far-reaching investigation in Nigeria and I’m happy to report that arising from the wider coverage investigation that has been conducted in Nigeria, a number of people, both institutional and otherwise, were found to be culpable. “I mean reasonable grounds for suspicion of terrorism financing have been established, or perhaps has been proven to be in existence in respect of the transactions of certain higher profile individuals and businessmen across the country. “I’m happy to report that investigation has been ongoing for long and it has reached an advanced stage.

“As to the number, investigation is ongoing and it has to be conclusive before one can arrive at a certain number. But one thing I can tell you is it is a large number and they are being profiled for prosecution,” he said.

“It is indeed a large number and I’m not in a position to give you the precise number as at now, because the profiling and investigation are ongoing. “The message is clear; nobody is going to be spared. No stone will be left unturned. We shall certainly and aggressively pursue those people that are involved in terrorist financing as far as the Nigerian state is concerned.”

Alexei Navalny’s Doctor, disappears during hunting trip in Russia

Alexander Murakhovsky, the Siberian doctor who treated President Vladimir Putin’s critic Alexei Navalny after he was reportedly poisoned with novichok last year, has disappeared, Russian police said on Sunday May 9.

The physician, 49, was last seen leaving a hunting base in a forest in the Omsk region around 2,200 km (1,370 miles) east of Moscow in an all-terrain vehicle on Friday, police said.

There are unconfirmed claims that he contacted other hunters by radio to say that he would go on by foot but was confused over which direction to go amid reports of wild bears in the vicinity.

His friends looked for him but failed to locate the missing minister.

Russian national guards, police, emergency ministry staff, and volunteers are involved in the exercises with helicopters deployed to find him.

A search effort was already underway including emergency services, drones, a helicopter, and volunteers on the ground.

In February another doctor who treated the activist died in mysterious circumstances amid claims he had been ‘liquidated’. The following month another medic died after ‘suffering a stroke’, prompting claims the death was suspicious.

Mr. Navalny fell ill during a domestic flight from Siberia to Moscow in August last year with suspected Novichok poisoning. He was eventually allowed to be airlifted to Germany for further treatment.

Dr. Murakhovsky had said that initial laboratory tests after treating Navalny had not shown traces of the Novichok nerve agent.

But tests by laboratories in three European countries, confirmed by the international chemical weapons watchdog OPCW, said that poison had in fact been used on the opposition figure.

The Kremlin has denied accusations of being behind the attempted killing of one of President Vladimir Putin’s main political opponents.

In November 2020, Dr. Murakhovsky was controversially promoted to regional health minister of Omsk.

He was called out on Twitter by Mr. Navalny, 44, who said: ‘You lie, fake test results, are ready to please the bosses in any way – you get an award and a promotion.’

When Navalny returned to Russia, he was immediately arrested. He was jailed in February for parole violations, on what he says were politically motivated charges, and sent to a penal colony.

Chelsea beats Manchester City 2-1 in a flash !

Aguero had a glorious chance to make it 2-0 from the spot moments later when Billy Gilmour fouled Gabriel Jesus but the Argentina striker opted for a dinked effort that was easily saved by Edouard Mendy.

It proved a costly miss, as Chelsea improved after the break and equalised when Cesar Azpilicueta set up Hakim Ziyech to fire home from the edge of the area.

The visitors had two more efforts ruled out for offside before Marcus Alonso won it for them in injury time, meeting Timo Werner’s pull-back and sending the ball looping over Ederson.

This was Chelsea’s second win over City in the space of three weeks, following their victory in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley in April.

The two sides will meet again in the Champions League final in Istanbul at the end of this month. BBC

This result can only give Chelsea extra confidence for that game, as well as providing a big boost to their hopes of a top-four finish, but in truth this encounter offered few clues to how their next meeting will be decided.

City boss Pep Guardiola made nine changes to the side that beat Paris St-Germain here on Tuesday, while his Chelsea counterpart Thomas Tuchel made five – and the result was a disjointed performance from both sides.

Bishop Oyedepo warns his church members against taking COVID19 vaccine, “take anointing oil instead”

Bishop David Oyedepo, the senior pastor of the Living Faith Church International (Winners Chapel), has adviced his members not to take the COVID19 vaccine.

The clergyman who has always expressed doubts about the COVID19 pandemic, said this during the 40th-anniversary thanksgiving service of the church in the Ota Cathedral in Ogun State on Sunday, May 9.

Speaking to his members, Oyedepo said

“Let me warn you against this deadly thing circulated round the country, because it has not been duly tested. An elder of this church, who works with the World Health Organisation, confirmed this, thanking me for always speaking the truth about the authenticity of the COVID-19 vaccine,” he said.

He said vaccinators went to churches to get people vaccinated, adding that it is an “insult,” and assault to enforce vaccination on anyone.

“What an insult! What an assault! Nobody has the right to enforce vaccination on you, and anybody cannot terminate your employment because you refuse to take the vaccine, my God will show up (for you). Did I tell anyone I am sick? Don’t let anyone harass you into doing what you don’t want to do” he said

Oyedepo also alleged that the side effects defeated the benefits of taking the vaccine.

“They wanted Africa dead. I heard them say it. When we didn’t die as they proposed, they brought out this vaccination scheme. You need to hear their proclamation that Africa will lack spaces to bury corpses. But, today, reverse is the case. Africa has the least casualty among all the other continents of the world” he said

He asked his followers to take a shot of anointing oil in place of the COVID19 vaccine.

The arrangement between Melinda Gates, her husband, Bill Gates and Bill Gates ex. Girlfriend, Ann Winblad?

Bill Gates’ marriage to his estranged wife Melinda Gates certainly featured many undulations on its way to their pending divorce after 27 years.

In fact, in the Gates’ relationship, the tech honcho was allowed by his wife to spend time with an ex-girlfriend thanks to a built-in arrangement Bill had with Melinda French prior to the now-former pair exchanging nuptials in Hawaii in 1994.

The negotiated consideration said that he and software entrepreneur and venture capitalist Ann Winblad would be able to jet off on annual weekend getaways with each other to pick each other’s brains and bask in the old times they shared while creating new memories of their own, this according to a 1997 Time magazine profile on the Microsoft co-founder.

Gates said at the time that he had actually sought approval from Winblad before he made the plunge and proposed to Melinda.

“When I was off on my own thinking about marrying Melinda, I called Ann and asked for her approval,” he said of the woman he bonded fondly with over their mutual love of all things science, adding that Winblad, whom he often played “putt-putt while discussing biotechnology” had given Melinda a favorable evaluation.

“I said she’d be a good match for him because she had intellectual stamina,” Winblad – who dated Gates exclusively from 1984 until their split in 1987 – recalled in the piece.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Winblad carries an impressive jacket and has held several posts within Silicon Valley, including runs as Director at companies such as Central Point Software, Hyperion, Net Perceptions, Intrinsa, Liquid Audio, The Knot, Marketwire, Krillion, Inc., Star Analytics, SVForum, Karmasphere, Voltage Security, MuleSoft, Sonatype, Ace Metrix and her current position of nearly 32 years at Hummer Winblad Venture Partners.

“Even now, Gates has an arrangement with his wife that he and Winblad can keep one vacation tradition alive,” Walter Isaacson wrote in the 1997 feature. “Every spring, as they have for more than a decade, Gates spends a long weekend with Winblad at her beach cottage on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where they ride dune buggies, hang-glide and walk on the beach.”

Also among their intellectual conversations, the pair would “marvel about how, as two young overachievers, we began a great adventure on the fringes of a little-known industry and it landed us at the center of an amazing universe.”

What’s more, is Gates and Winblad were ahead of their time in the idea that their initial “dates” were virtual as the par weren’t physically together, thus the close-knit connection would be fostered through their discussions of modern films that they each would watch at the same time in whatever city theater was playing the title.

In the Times piece, Isaacson even referred to Gates and Winblad as “kindred spirits.” In a 2005 interview with the San Francisco Chronicle, Winblad recalled how Gates “wasn’t such a big deal” when she started dating him.

“And there was a period of time when my net worth was higher than his, and I had to pay for everything. It was a very short period of time, but it was memorable,” she quipped.

Winblad later told the Silicon Valley Business Journal in 2013 that Gate oozed confidence and she grew fond of his drive to be best.

“Bill and I went for a walk on a beach, and Bill tells me, ‘I can see my way, if I really squint, to $500 million in revenue,” she recalled. “Bill was a great influence on me, and I was thinking, ‘Wow, you can actually build a company that big in the software industry? Are you kidding me?’”

The philanthropist and wealth coach added of Gates: “I remember making him take a stick or a rock and drawing the numbers out on the sand for me. How was he going to get there? He then said, ‘What troubles me is I can’t see how I am going to get past $500 million.’”

“I thought, ‘You’re troubled about that?’” Winblad maintained. “I was jazzed that someone could think their way through to $500 million. There was a lot of inspiration from each other back then because there was so little collective wisdom.”

Gates and Winlad’s escapades read like your run-of-the-mill romantic comedy.

In 1996, Winblad told the story of a trip the pair took to Cabo San Lucas for a spontaneous weekend, explaining to Wired magazine that once the two arrived in Mexico, “it was hard to get a rental car, so when we finally got one, it was like this beat-up old Volkswagen, and it was Spring Break.”

“So we get a hotel. It’s a sh–ty hotel, but that’s fine because we’re doing this on a whim, and it’s part of the adventure. I leave Bill outside while I check-in,” she recalled at the time.

“Well, I go outside and I say, ‘Where’s the car?’ He goes, ‘I sublet it.’ He rented the car to some teenagers for five dollars a day!” Winblad exuded. “He gave them the car keys and says, ‘We’re in room whatever. Just knock on the door and give us the keys back.’”

“Sort of like ‘I’m Bill Gates; here’s the rental car; here are the keys to our room.’ I’m going, ‘We’re never going to see that car again. These are teenage boys.’”

“He says, ‘You’re probably right.’ … We finally got it back at about two in the morning, and it was all in one piece.”

Other stories of the ex-pair that do not involve Melinda was a trip to Brazil in which Gates, the science nerd brought along a 1,100-page textbook on molecular biology — and the duo studied it together, Time magazine said in their 90s feature piece.

Another included a trip to a ranch in Santa Barbara, Calif., and Winblad supplied tapes of famed physicist Richard Feynman so the couple could listen and digest.

Gates would go on to admit in the same piece that Winblad “brings a sense of enjoyment and humor to even the most serious situations. ”Her professional approach reminds me a lot of Warren Buffett. She is incredibly smart,” said Gates, a longtime friend of billionaire Berkshire Hathaway founder Buffett.

Gates broke the news to the world on Monday that he and Melinda were calling it quits after being married nearly three decades.

The couple said the reason for their dissolution rests on the fact that “we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in the next phase of our lives.”

“Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives,” a tweet from the former pair reads and adds, “We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together at the foundation.”

Throughout their 27 years as man and wife, the Gates would welcome three children: Jennifer, Rory and Phoebe and would also start their widely philanthropic Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in 2000.

The pair currently share a net worth of more than $130 billion.

Winblad did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.

Melinda Gates, the estranged wife of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates had been meeting with her divorce lawyers since 2019

Melinda Gates, the estranged wife of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, was reportedly meeting with divorce lawyers since 2019 following reports of links between her husband and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Citing sources close to the situation, The Wall Street Journal reported that Melinda Gates began working with lawyers from multiple firms two years ago.

One source who is a former employee of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation told the Journal that one concern Melinda Gates had was Bill Gates’s association with Epstein.

The Journal reported that Melinda Gates and her advisers held several calls in October 2019, around the same time when The New York Times released a report detailing the multiple meetings her husband had with Epstein, who committed suicide in prison two years ago.

A spokesperson for Bill Gates said at the time that the meetings were to discuss philanthropy and that he regretted ever meeting with Epstein.

When reached for comment by the Journal, a representative for Bill Gates told the outlet that he stands by his previous statements regarding Epstein.

A former employee of the couple’s foundation told the Journal that Melinda Gates expressed her discomfort with Epstein after she and her husband met with him in 2013.

By March 2020, the couple were already discussing how they would divide their immense wealth, the Journal reported. Melinda Gates’s legal team includes Robert Stephan Cohen, who also represented Michael Bloomberg and Ivana Trump in their respective divorces.

The May 3 divorce filings show that the couple agreed to separate their assets according to a separation contract, the Journal reported. Their assets include a $131 million home compound in Washington state, a rare Leonardo da Vinci notebook, and investments in Microsoft and Four Seasons Hotels.

The couple announced their plans to divorce last week, saying in a statement that they had come to this decision “after a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship,” adding they can no longer “grow together as a couple.”

In court documents, Melinda Gates said her marriage to Bill Gates was “irretrievably broken.”

A New York man who confessed to killing his mother, also sexually assaulted her – Prosecutors say

A New York man who confessed to the gruesome slaying of his mother sexually assaulted her as he beat and strangled her, prosecutors revealed Sunday night, May 9.

Pushkar Sharma, aged 28, from Queens, told police he woke up the morning before Mother’s Day “with an uncontrollable urge to hurt someone,” according to a criminal complaint.

About 8 a.m. Saturday, he went down to the basement of the family home on Winchester Blvd. near Braddock Ave. in Bellerose Manor and attacked his mother, prosecutors said.

Sharma allegedly approached his 65-year old mother from behind, wrapped his hands around her throat, and started choking and punching her in the face. She struggled for several minutes as the horrific attack continued.

Sharma then allegedly sexually assaulted his mother and choked her until she lost consciousness.

“he continued choking her until he was pretty sure she was dead,” the criminal complaint alleges.

Covered in blood, Sharma picked his wallet and keys and walked to the 105th Precinct, where he confessed to the unimaginable violence, the complaint read.

Medics rushed her to Long Island Jewish Hospital, but she could not be saved.

“What should have been a celebration of Mother’s Day became a brutal, tragic nightmare for a Queens family,” Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said Sunday.

A neighbor of the accused known as Kelvin, said he knew Sharma had mental health problems, but he was stunned at the slaying.

“The family was really nice and friendly. I am shocked to know that the son could’ve done this,” he said.

He recalled a past incident when neighbors called police because Sharma was acting erratically.

“So, it’s not the first time. He’s been in trouble before,” Kelvin said. “You can clearly tell that he has some mental health issues. When he had the cops called on him previously, people said that he was not on his medications. Perhaps, the same happened this time around.”

Pushkar Sharma was arraigned Sunday afternoon, May 9, on murder and sexual abuse charges. He was held without bail, and his next appearance in court is scheduled for May 24.

A British millionaire’s fiancée shot dead by his ex-girlfriend has come out to claim that a business rival ordered his killing and fears she may be the next target

The fiancée of a British millionaire shot dead by his ex-girlfriend has come out to claim that a business rival ordered his killing and fears she may be the next target.

Maria Korotaeva, 27, said husband-to-be, Andrew Bush, had received death threats in the weeks leading up to his murder.

British millionaire's fiancée shot dead

She alleged a business rival of her husband to be who was into jewelleries could have ordered the killing.

The businessman’s former lover, Mayka Kukucova, 31, waited in his bed at his Spanish villa before fatally shooting him three times in 2014.

British millionaire's fiancée shot dead

She escaped to her home country, Slovakia but was caught and then jailed for 15 years in May 2016 which was later reduced to 13 years’ imprisonment.

But Maria, who was set to wed the businessman before his death, now claims she thinks Kukucova was instructed to carry out the killing when Bush started planning to establish a jewellery business in London, The Mirror reports.

British millionaire's fiancée shot dead

In a new tell-all book, Maria says:

“A couple of weeks before his murder, Andy was in Germany at a jewellers conference.

“He came back really upset, saying that someone – a rival entrepreneur, I think – was threatening him because of his plans.

“We think Mayka was told if she did the murder she would get three or four years.”

According to Maria, Bush had proposed to her at dinner on the night of his murder.

He then drove her home in his £60,000 gold-plated Humvee 4×4, unaware that swimwear model Kukucova was lying in wait armed with a .38 revolver.

When they found Kukucova in Bush’s bed, he told Maria to go to the car and phone the police, after Kukucova refused to leave.

But, an argument broke out between Bush and Kukucova, then Maria heard three gunshots – and later found her partner in a pool of blood.

She shot Bush three times – twice in the head.

Maria, a businesswoman from Russia thinks the killing by Kukucova was a hit and now fears her own life could be at risk.

“I’m now worried she may come find me when she gets out. God knows what she is thinking. What is in her head?” she said.

“It’s already been seven years. There’s not very long left until she comes out.

“I’m worried that she may come and find me. What stops her? Nothing. You can find me easily because of my social media.”

Maria said she nor Bush reported the threats made to him to the police because “they didn’t take them seriously” at the time.

The inquest at Avon Coroner’s Court in Bristol, ruled that Bush was murdered by Kukucova.

Over 125 firefighters battle huge house fires in London (videos)

About 125 firefighters with 20 fire engines from London Fire Brigaid are attempting to put out a huge blaze which has broken out at a block of flats in east London.

Emergency crews reportedly rushed to the New Providence Wharf development, near Canary Wharf, shortly before 9am on Friday morning.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, though the flames are understood to have engulfed at least three floors of the building.

Parts of the 8th, 9th and 10th floors have been affected by the fire. Several people have been treated by the Ambulance Service.

A London Fire Brigade spokesman said: “Twenty fire engines and around 125 firefighters have been called to a fire at a block of flats on Fairmont Avenue in Poplar.

“Firefighters are tackling a blaze at a 19-storey block. Parts of the eighth, ninth and 10th floors are alight.

“The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers have taken 13 calls to the fire.

“The Brigade was called at 0855. Fire crews from Poplar, Millwall, Shadwell, Plaistow, Whitechapel, and surrounding fire stations are at the scene.

“The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.”

All residents of the apartment block have been evacuated.

One local, who lives on the tenth floor, said she was alerted to the fire by the neighbours’ Whatsapp group.

She said: “They just said ‘fire’ and posted updates and photos. There is no fire alarm or sprinklers in the apartments.”

The resident added: “People were stuck on their balconies and shouting for help. Horrible.

“The fire is out so we have come back in now. I’m just hoping there are no casualties.”

It comes almost four years after 72 people were killed when the block in west London went up in flames following a kitchen fire in one of the flats.

South Africa proposing a new marriage law that will allow women marry more than one man

South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs has proposed a new law that will allow women marry more than one husband, in the same way that polygamous men are allowed to marry more than one wife.

The 67-page policy document also called Green Paper on Marriages, stated that the current marriage act does not promote equality.

The policy document highlighted that the current marriage legislation is discriminatory as it does not recognise Hindu, Jewish, Muslim and Rastafarian marriages. The policy document also called for polyandry to be legally recognised as a form of marriage.

The Green Paper proposed three new marriage regimes to bring equality in marriage laws. One of these options is a gender-neutral marriage regime.

It read;

“This would accommodate both polygyny and polyandry

“…Therefore all marriages, whether monogamous or polygamous, could be concluded regardless of the sex or sexual orientation of the person.”

South Africa’s Ministry of Home Affairs appears to favour the option for a gender-neutral marriage regime that allows both polyandry and polygyny. The Ministry wrote;

“The political appetite of the country to confront the challenges of the current marriage statute will be tested through these options. However, if Section 9 of the Constitution was to be implemented in its entirety, option 3 will tick all the boxes.”

The Ministry however noted that the option for polyandry has ruffled feathers and South Africa’s traditional leaders have vociferously opposed the proposal, claiming that a woman being married to more than one husband is an “unacceptable practise because it is not of African origin.”

It added;

“Ironically, stakeholders who believed in the practice of polygamy … were opposed to the practice of polyandry.

“This is the beginning of a crucial public discourse that will re-define the concept of marriage in South Africa.

“The process will unearth issues that may make some of us uncomfortable, but will encourage dialogue within the South African and international communities.”

South Africans have until the end of June to comment on the department’s proposals.

There were reports of ‘violence and drugs’ in AKA’s relationship with late fiancée, Nelli Tembe, – AKA responds (photos)

South African rapper, AKA, has issued a public statement in response to reports of alleged “violence and drugs” in his relationship with his late fiancée Nelli Tembe.

The statement comes after News24 released images where “AKA can be seen using his hands to violently break down a wooden door to enter the bedroom in their apartment in Bryanston, Johannesburg where Tembe was hiding”.

A close friend of Tembe, who spoke with the publication, said Tembe told her that the rapper smashed her face against a wall during a fight in their apartment after which she locked herself in the bedroom.

AKA

“She then sent me the video of the attack. AKA is so violent in the video that he breaks down the door of the room that Anele had locked herself in, whilst escaping his blows, with his bare hands. This is an attack that I want women to be shielded from.” the woman, who requested anonymity out of fear of intimidation, wrote in a statement to News 24.

AKA

The incident allegedly took place on March 13.

The friend has also provided the video to Cape Town police, who are conducting an inquiry into her death.

AKA

She said in a statement to police: In the past few weeks, following the passing of my close friend Anele Tembe, I have been meditating and seeking guidance on what it is that I am to do in order to exercise my rights and to deliver on my responsibilities as a young adult in a country that fails to adequately protest its women and girls. The responsibility that I have is towards the many women and girls in this country, especially young women such as myself, who remain impressionable.

AKA

“Anele Tembe, who was dating and later became engaged to Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes, was a victim of severe violence at the hands of AKA, Anele was on numerous occasions physically and emotionally abused by AKA. My beloved friend was a victim of gender-based violence (GBV). As women, we are too quiet about the abuse that is happening behind closed doors. We must speak out! I am today speaking out.”

AKA

According to the woman, Tembe recorded her fiance breaking down the door in their Bryanston apartment. He had allegedly smashed her face against a wall during a fight, and she ran to the bedroom to escape. Tembe allegedly gave the footage to her friend, who also came to her rescue after the attack.

“Anele, on many nights, south protection from those close to her whenever AKA, whom she said became extra violent whenever he had taken drugs, attacked her, We often picked up Anele from AKA’s house in the early hours of the morning following endless attacks on her by AKA.”the friend said.

“Anele reported the incident to me. She then sent the video of the attack, ” she added.

In one of the photos obtained by News 24, Tembe appeared in pain while placing ice packs on her body after allegedly being assaulted on March 13.

AKA

On Saturday afternoon May 8, AKA released a statement on Twitter, describing his relationship with Tembe as “beautiful, yet challenging, and saying he would not be drawn into exposing their troubles as a couple to defend himself against “one-sided views”.

He also slammed allegations that “drug use and incidents of violence” plagued the couple’s relationship, labelling the reports an “attempt to disparage his name and Anele’s character”.

“What makes it even sadder is the knowledge that some of the people, she and I loved and entrusted with our deepest troubles, are now using those as weapons to set a negative narrative on my character.

AKA

“I am a passionate and emotional person. What I will not do and stand for is watching people attempt to disparage my name and, importantly, Anele’s to suit a narrative we both never signed up for,” said AKA.

Nelli died on April 11 after apparently falling from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub hotel in Cape Town. Her death is being investigated by police.

At Nelli’s funeral on April 16, her father and prominent businessman Moses Tembe moved to set the record straight on circumstances surrounding her death.

“As Anele’s father, I categorically state that Anele was neither suicidal nor did she commit suicide. We must as a matter of priority deal with the scourge that bedevils our youth. Alcohol which is overused and drugs. Fellow South Africans we better wake up and smell the coffee, we have a serious problem with substance abuse.

“I cannot allow an unfortunate narrative to go unchallenged, a narrative that irks me to no end … that is ‘Anele was chronically suicidal’. All I can say is, until Anele turned 21, not a single member of her family, my family would have associated her with suicide,” he said.

They said they use the manager of SK Express courier company to deliver their products through motorcycle riders and power bikers popularly called droppers. They further claimed they have been in the business for over three years.

Meanwhile, operatives of the Ondo state Command of the Agency have intercepted and seized 60kilogrammes of cannabis following intelligence. In the process, a 29-year-old Emmanuel Utaji was arrested at the location on Matado street, Akure, Akure South local government area. Prince William and Prince Harry have been feuding for 18 months – ITV journalist

Prince Harry and Prince William have been feuding for 18 months, a friend of theirs who is an ITV journalist has said.

Tom Bradby, who was friends with Prince William and Prince Harry for 20 years before he was dropped by Prince William for “siding” with Prince Harry, claims the royal brothers have been arguing for the last 18 months.

Recall that Tom Bradby is the host of an ITV documentary filmed in South Africa in 2019 who asked Meghan Markle if she was OK and she responded: “Not many people have asked if I’m okay.”

Prince Harry

Tom Bradby with Meghan in South africa

Royal sources claim the host of ITV News at 10 sided with the Sussexes in the increasingly bitter “war of the Windsors” and Prince William now feels like he can no longer trust him.

It’s believed the royals have increasing anger towards Bradby and ITV for their support of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Tom Bradby with Prince Harry

However, Bradby defended his actions, claiming that it was through his own experiences with mental health issues that he knew the couple were struggling.

He said that he could not do his job without “a reasonable degree of empathy” and in the case of Meghan “I felt like there was an untold story there,” the Sun reports.

Royal aides were also reportedly not happy with Bradby and ITV News’ reporting on Harry and Meghan’s split from the royal family last year.

“It used to be quite a straightforward thing, right, because they weren’t arguing and life was simple,” he said.

“And then it just slowly descended into something that was difficult – personally and publicly – really over the past year and a half.”

Nigeria has been dragged 50 years backwards by APC – Governor Nyesom Wike

Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) which is the ruling party, has dragged Nigeria 50 years backwards due to its “abysmal performance.”

The governor said this when the Vice President of Rotary Club of Port Harcourt, Obiageli Ejezie, led other leaders of the association to the Government House, Port Harcourt, to confer on him the “2019/2020 Good Governance Award” for his outstanding achievements in project execution in Rivers.

Speaking to the delegation in his office, Governor Wike said in 2015, the APC convinced Nigerians that they were going to offer better governance than former President Goodluck Jonathan. He said going by the results of the APC since it came into power in 2015, Nigeria has only being retrogressing under the its leadership.

”There can’t be good governance without security and this is based on rule of law. All of us are living witnesses in 2015 when it was alleged that the government of former President Goodluck Jonathan could not perform.  So Nigeria needed a change. What has happened to the change? They have taken Nigeria back by 50 years”.

‘It is well’ even in the face of crises rather than ‘blame and question God’ – Pastor Enoch Adeboye

The General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye on Friday May 7, broke his silence following the death of his son, Dare Adeboye.

42-year-old Pastor Dare, died in his sleep in his home in Eket, Akwa-Ibom on Tuesday, May 4. Read HERE

While preaching at his church’s May 2021 edition of it’s Holy Ghost service, Pastor Adeboye urged everyone to always thank God and say ‘It is well’ even in the face of crises rather than ‘blame and question God’.

“Whatever we have is given to us by God, be it wealth, wife, husband, children e.t.c and if it got taken away by God, all we can do is give God glory for actually giving us the privilege to enjoy those wealth or kids temporarily and it is not for us to complain, blame and question God.”he said

With biblical reference to Ezekiel 24:16, the clergyman said

“God took away Ezekiel’s wife and asked him not to mourn over her. What we see as sorrows might be joy in the sight of God, I mean His ways and thoughts are not the same with ours, we shouldn’t forget that both good and bad happen at God’s command. (Lamentations 3:38).

Finally in all things let’s learn to say thank you father and It is well. God bless all of you in Jesus’ name,” Adeboye said.

The RCCG overseer further stated that peace is one of the blessings only God can give saying “There is a peace that passes human understanding. It is only God that can give that peace. I thank God that I have that peace.”

A Wisconsin man who punched his 5-year-old son to death over a slice of cake has pleaded guilty to homicide.

Travis Stackhouse, 30, pleaded to second-degree reckless homicide, child abuse, and child neglect this week in the June 2019 death of his 5-year-old son, Sir Amer Stackhouse, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

His guilty plea came after two days of witness testimony in his trial and after prosecutors introduced his taped confession as evidence, according to the report.

Prosecutors alleged that the father was upset that his children were eating most of his Father’s Day cheesecake, and punched his son and smacked the boy’s face with the back of his hand, which contains metal from a surgery, according to the newspaper.

The child was reportedly pronounced dead early the next morning after Stackhouse returned from a bar and the family called 911.

Sir Amer suffered a ruptured stomach, bruised kidneys, and a torn adrenal gland, and died from blunt force trauma to the abdomen, the article said.

Stackhouse faces 37 years in prison when he is sentenced next month.

Court indicts Derek Chauvin and other police officers for violating George Floyd’s constitutional rights

A federal grand jury has indicted Derek Chauvin and three other former Minneapolis police officers on charges of violating George Floyd’s civil rights during the arrest that led to his death last year.

Chauvin, 45, Tou Thao, 35, and J. Alexander Kueng, 27, were each charged with two counts of deprivation of rights under color of law, according to the indictment from the U.S. Department of Justice. Thomas Lane, 38, was charged once with deprivation of rights under color of law.

In a video shot by a bystander, Thao could be seen standing between onlookers and his fellow officers as they pinned Floyd to the pavement. Lane and Kueng were also spotted on top of Floyd as Chauvin applied pressure to the victim’s neck.

Chauvin “willfully deprived George Floyd of the right, secured and protected by the Constitution and laws of the United States, to be free from an unreasonable force by a police officer,” according to the indictment.

This comes weeks after a Minneapolis jury convicted Chauvin of second-and third-degree murder, as well as second-degree manslaughter, after hearing evidence that he put his knee on Floyd’s neck for nine minutes and 29 seconds.

Derek Chauvin

His former colleagues, Thao, Kueng, and Lane will go on trial later this year.

In a separate, two-count indictment, Chauvin was also charged with allegedly violating the civil rights of a boy, then 14, on Sept. 4, 2017.

Prosecutors in the Floyd case wanted to introduce evidence about that 2017, 17-minute-long incident between Chauvin and the 14-year-old. However, the judge ruled against it.

“Chauvin, without legal justification, held the teenager by the throat and struck the teenager multiple times in the head with a flashlight,” according to the separate indictment.

Chauvin “held his knee on the neck and the upper back of the teenager even after the teenager was lying prone, handcuffed, and unresisting, also resulting in bodily injury,” the indictment states.

Rev. Al Sharpton welcomed the indictments and said the legal action “shows we have a Justice Department that deals with police criminality.”

“What we couldn’t get them to do in the case of Eric Garner, Michael Brown in Ferguson, and countless others, we are finally seeing them do today and this is a significant development for those of us who have been engaged in the struggle and police reform movement,” added Sharpton.

UK: Serial rapist attacked five women in 11 days, raping some

A serial rapist, Abdallah Baballah, 25, struck five times in 11 days after stalking women off trains and buses and dragging them into bushes, it has been revealed.

Baballah followed his victims as they left London Tube stations and bus stops then he sexually assaulted and threatened to stab them.

The former Barking and Dagenham College student followed his first victim off the N15 night bus in Plaistow, East London, at around 2.30am on July 1, 2019.

He told his victim: “Give me your phone or I’ll stab you”, before dragging the woman into a quiet street and raping her three times, a court heard.

He then stole cash from her wallet but returned her phone and identity cards.

Baballah targeted his second victim after she got off a train at Leyton underground station five days later on July 6 at around 3am.

He grabbed hold of her and told her he had a knife as he snatched her phone from her.

Baballah, from Sudan, told the woman he would return her mobile if she performed oral sex on him, jurors at Snaresbrook Crown Court were told.

But the victim luckily managed to escape when a member of the public walked by.

An hour later, just after 4am, Baballah attacked another woman in Leyton.

He took her phone and ring, then raped her before punching her in the face, the court heard.

Baballah, not willing to stop his rape rage, attacked his fourth victim on July 8, 2019, at around 3am after she got off an N15 bus in Dagenham.

He demanded she hand over her phone and chased her down the street, the court heard.

The victim started to scream but Baballah lashed out and struck her in the face before trying to cover her mouth, before eventually fleeing with her bag and phone.

The final victim was attacked after she got off the N15 night bus in East Ham in the early hours of July 11 that same year.

Baballah dragged her into a side road before throwing her to the ground and attempting to keep her down with a punch.

The woman managed to fight him off, breaking free to run to a member of the public who emerged from his home upon hearing her screams.

Baballah again ran off with the woman’s bag and phone.

In defence, Baballah said all five of his victims had consented to his sexual encounter with him.

He claimed to the jury that many of these encounters were consensual.

Prosecutor Karen Phillips said: “This violent and depraved man has at every turn tried to divert responsibility away from himself by callously claiming that many of these encounters were consensual. They were not.

“Baballah targeted women on their way home and in most cases threatened them with physical violence unless they carried out sexual acts.

“Despite suffering such terrifying experiences, I must pay tribute to these five immensely brave women.

“As a result of their courage a dangerous man is no longer on the streets.

“I hope that his conviction provides them with some sense of comfort and allows them to move on with their lives.”

Prosecutors told Jurors how Baballah had searched for articles about serial rapist Joseph McCann before carrying out his attacks.

McCann was one of the UK’s worst criminals with a record stretching all the way back to when he was just 14.

In 2019, he kidnapped and raped 11 people, including an 11-year-old boy, during a two-week cocaine-fuelled rampage after being mistakenly freed from jail.

Baballah had also looked up “man raped two women in east London”, “rape rule in Britain” and viewed numerous pornographic videos.

Baballah was arrested on July 25 after police officers spotted him around East Ham.

He was found guilty of nine counts including rape, attempted rape and robbery following a trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

He will be sentenced on July 30, 2021.

Former Australian Rugby League player, Jarryd Hayne has been jailed for five years

Former Australian Rugby League player, Jarryd Hayne has been jailed for five years and nine months for sexually assaulting a woman in 2018.

Hayne, 33, was found guilty in March of attacking the 26-year-old lady in her house but denied the charges in court.

Jarryd Hayne

Hayne was one of the National Rugby League’s most high-profile athletes and twice won the player of the year award. He played 11 Tests for Australia, helping them to win the 2013 World Cup.

The woman told the court in Newcastle, north of Sydney today that she had been damaged by the attack “but I’m still standing”.

“I felt dirty and violated. He made me feel like an object and was looking straight through me,” she said in a victim impact statement on Thursday, May 6.

Prosecutors said Hayne had assaulted the woman in her bedroom, causing two injuries. The victim’s mother was also at the Newcastle home at the time and Hayne left afterwards in a taxi, the court heard.

The former Rugby League player insisted that all sexual activity had been consensual and that the injuries had been accidental.

But at Thursday’s sentencing hearing, District Court Judge Helen Syme said Hayne had been “fully aware that the victim was not consenting and went ahead anyway”.

“The reliability and honesty of the victim’s evidence was tested at length and in my view, her reliability was not in doubt. She said no several times,” the judge said, quoted by broadcaster ABC.

With today’s sentencing Hayne must serve at least three years and eight months before being eligible for parole.

Ray Elbe, MMA Champion, recounts how he passed out after breaking his manhood while having rough s3x

A Mixed Martial Arts fighter has revealed how he passed out after snapping his penis in a horrific sex injury.

Ray Elbe, 38, spent a week in hospital after a wild sex session with his girlfriend while on holiday in Malaysia turned into a nightmare

Ray Elbe

“We got a little bit intimate in the heat of passion, and she happened to be on top of me in this situation,” Ray recalled in a new episode of TLC’s Sex Sent Me To The ER, obtained by Metro.

“Unfortunately, as she went a little bit too high, I slipped out, and when she came back down I was still obviously fully erect, and basically [she] bent me over the top.”

Ray Elbe

The MMA fighter from Phoenix, Arizona, said he remembered “blood spurting out all over the place” while his penis was completely bent out of shape.

Ray Elbe

“I’ve had some significant injuries, but as far as the actual pain, and I was in shock at that point, it was brutal,” he said.

“There was so much blood loss that I felt light-headed and then I lost consciousness.

“I ended up cracking the bottom of my jaw on the floor as I fell.”

Once he regained consciousness, his girlfriend called for an ambulance.

Doctors diagnosed Ray, known as Magical Ray in the ring, with a ruptured urethra and an injured dorsal vein and artery essentially known as a fractured penis.

“Man, it brings tears to your eyes. I don’t care who you are or how tough you are as an individual, it was just a humbling experience,” Ray said.

To save his manhood, Ray says he underwent a grueling 12-hour surgery.

“Essentially, what he did was he cut and peeled the skin down, and went into the two tubes and stitched them back together,” Ray said.

“I woke up medicated, and literally my testicles were the size of two softballs because all the blood drained down in there. It was black and blue.”

Doctor Jordan Moskoff explained: “The penis is made up of tissue that is very spongy, and when the penis is getting erect, what happens is that tissue fills with blood.

“In the course of sexual activity, if the penis misses where it’s supposed to go and jams, you can actually break that spongy tissue.”

Now, Ray says he is selling pictures of his nasty penis injury to cover the medical costs as his hospital stay set him back more than $6,000.

On his blog, Ray reportedly said he would be “out of action without a steady paycheck for probably the next 8 weeks”.

Ray added that the traumatic sex experience has brought him and his girlfriend closer than before.

“We’re probably always going to be together for life because of this injury,” he said.

“That was the first time I had really experienced a woman that had legitimately and honestly was 100 percent committed to me.”

A 6th grade pupil opens fire on classmates at school, injuring 3

A female middle school student opened fire on classmates at an Idaho middle school on Thursday, injuring a custodian and two other students before being disarmed by a teacher and taken into custody.

The shooting happened at Rigby Middle School in Jefferson County just after 9 a.m on May 6th.

6th grade pupil

The student, a sixth-grader, pulled the gun out of a backpack before she opened fire, authorities said.

“During the shooting, a teacher disarmed the student and detained her until law enforcement took her into custody,” Jefferson County Sheriff Steve Anderson said during a news conference. “She did take the handgun from the student.”

6th grade pupil

“She fired multiple rounds inside of the school and out,” Anderson said at a news conference. “We don’t have a lot of details of why. That is being investigated.”

Her name and exact age weren’t immediately released.

Two students and an adult who were shot were rushed to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, said Dr. Michael Lemon, the trauma director for the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

6th grade pupil

The adult was shot once and was released from a hospital. One student was hit once and may require surgery in the future. The other student was shot twice, Lemon said

Students were sent home with their parents immediately after the shootings and classes will be canceled on Friday, Jefferson School District Superintendent Chad Martin said.

“This is the worst nightmare any school district could ever face,” said Martin. “We prepare for it and we’re never truly ready for it.”

The suspect is from the nearby city of Idaho Falls, Anderson said. He didn’t release her name.

“Me and my classmate were just in class with our teacher — we were doing work — and then all of a sudden, here was a loud noise and then there were two more loud noises. Then there was screaming,” 12-year-old Yandel Rodriguez said. “Our teacher went to check it out, and he found blood.”

Yandel’s mom, Adela Rodriguez, said they were OK but “still a little shaky” from the shooting as they left the campus.

“Today we had the worst nightmare a school district could encounter,” Jefferson School District Superintendent Chad Martin said.

“I am praying for the lives and safety of those involved in today’s tragic events,” Governor of Idaho, Brad Little said in a statement. “Thank you to our law enforcement agencies and school leaders for their efforts in responding to the incident.”

Meghan and Harry criticized for photo of Archie they shared on the internet

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry released a new picture of their son to celebrate his second birthday and they’ve been criticized for it.

The photo shows Archie holding balloons at the couple’s $14million Montecito mansion while facing away from the camera.

It’s not the first time that Archie’s face hasn’t been visible in an official photograph shared by Meghan, 39, and Harry, 36. In an image released to mark International Women’s Day, Archie’s face was also hidden, with his head turned into his mother’s chest.

Meghan and Harry

Also, their 2020 Christmas card didn’t exactly show the boy as it was an illustration of the family-of-three, crafted from a picture taken by Meghan’s mother.

Meghan and Harry

After the latest release for Archie’s birthday, royal fans went on Twitter to complain about it.

One Twitter user wrote: “Archie’s top secret face, that’s ridiculous.”

Another said: “Are they ashamed to show Archie’s face? I’m sure he is an adorable 2-year-old boy who is having a fabulous time playing with his balloons.”

A third added: “Why do they never show his face, is it because it isn’t him or is it because they are just so pretentious? We always get to see William and Catherine’s children, so why not Archie.”

Al-Qaeda and ISIS are planning to penetrate Southern Nigeria – US warns

The United States has warned that Al-Qaeda and ISIS are planning to penetrate Southern Nigeria.

The US also said Al-Qaeda has started penetrating the north-western part of Nigeria.

In a media briefing seen by TheCable, Dagvin Anderson, Commander of the US special operations command, Africa, said Al-Qaeda is also expanding to other parts of West Africa.

Anderson said the US will continue to partner with Nigeria in sharing intelligence.

“We have engaged with Nigeria and continue to engage with them in intel sharing and in understanding what these violent extremists are doing,” he said.

“And that has been absolutely critical to their engagements up in the Borno state and into an emerging area of northwest Nigeria that we’re seeing al-Qaeda starting to make some inroads in.

“So, this intelligence sharing is absolutely vital and we stay fully engaged with the government of Nigeria to provide them with an understanding of what these terrorists are doing, what Boko Haram is doing, what ISIS-West Africa is doing, and how ISIS and al-Qaeda are looking to expand further south into the littoral areas.”

Anderson added that for international efforts to yield desired results in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria, the government must take the lead.

“When it comes to Nigeria in general, Nigeria, obviously, is a critical nation to West Africa. It is a critical nation and we realise that Nigeria is a lynchpin,” he said.

Indonesian Guru who went viral when he sprayed insecticide into his mouth dies

A man who became an internet sensation when he sprayed insecticide into his mouth has died.

The family of I Wayan Merta, who is also known as Ki Galang Pamungkas, have confirmed his death but said it was unrelated to the insecticide stunt.

In a video that went viral, the guru from Bali, Indonesia, was seen spraying Baygon insecticide into his mouth.

Concerned fans feared news of his death on Sunday, May 2, was the result of digesting the toxic chemicals in the insecticide but Ki Galang’s brother, I Nyoman Saputra, dismissed their claims.

Saputra told local media outlets: “As his brother, I am dismissing [rumors] that Ki Galang died because of insecticide. He died because of a heart attack.

“He died on May 2, 2021 at 6:15 a.m.”

Ki Galang built a reputation as a spiritual guru in Bali but it was only when a video of him ingesting insecticide went viral that he found fame,

His brother Saputra explained he died at a local hospital in Jimbaran, Bali, and insisted doctors had produced a medical record proving his cause of death was due to a heart attack.

Chris Weidman, UFC fighter may have his leg amputated (photos)

Former UFC middleweight champion, Chris Weidman, 36, has come out to admit he had feared his leg would be amputated following the horrific break he suffered last month while fighting Uriah Hall at UFC 261 in Jacksonville, Florida.

Chris Weidman

The American shattered his tibia and fibula seconds into his rematch.

Hall kicked Weidman’s leg breaking it into two leaving Weidman writhing in agony.

He was immediately stretchered out of the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena and taken to hospital.

Chris Weidman

Weidman, underwent successful surgery the following day but admits he feared the worst ahead of the procedure, which has left him with a titanium rod and four metal screws.

He said: “I was pretty scared about this pain because I’m thinking about the worst-case scenarios.

Chris Weidman

“Worst-care scenario is that the blood supply doesn’t come back to my bone and doesn’t take, which would mean possible amputation.”

Weidman’s fear of the blood supply not returning to his leg bone came to his memory due to the failed thumb surgery he had after his victory over Kelvin Gastelum in July 2017.

Chris Weidman

He recalled: “I had that happen to my thumb after I fought Kelvin Gastelum.

“I had a surgery for a ligament that tore after throwing a left hook on him and then about eight weeks after surgery they realised that the blood supply to that bone, it was such a concussive shot that the blood supply wasn’t coming back.

“So they had to take my whole bone out and put my hip bone inside there because the (thumb) bone was just deteriorating and dying.

“So if that happened to my shin bone – my tibia or my fibula – I don’t know what would happen.”

He continued: “Amputation, prosthetic leg, all that.

“So that scares me, and I’m praying and positive that’s not going to happen.

“But that’s just a possibility. I’ve spoken to a doctor about it.

“Tibias have the worst percentages of taking and healing properly after surgery.

“It’s not a bad percentage, it’s like five per cent. So that’s scary.”

Terry W.
