Beninese music legend Angélique Kidjo has added another historic achievement to her remarkable career after receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Kidjo was honoured in the Recording category, becoming the first African musician and first Black African to receive the prestigious Hollywood honour.
The recognition celebrates a career spanning decades, five Grammy Awards and 18 albums, as well as her enormous contribution to taking African music, culture and stories to audiences across the globe.
Born in Ouidah, Benin Republic, Kidjo has worked with some of the biggest names in global music, including Alicia Keys, Peter Gabriel and John Legend. She has also collaborated with Nigerian stars such as Burna Boy, Yemi Alade and Mr Eazi.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce praised her extraordinary artistry and worldwide influence, describing her as an artist whose music has inspired generations across continents.
Kidjo’s latest honour is more than a personal milestone—it is a major moment for African music on the global stage, placing an African music icon among the legendary names celebrated in Hollywood.
