A Spanish man has been convicted of murdering and eating his mother after cutting her up into tiny pieces.
Alberto Sanchez Gomez, 28, was branded the cannibal killer of Ventas, the area of Madrid where he lived with his mother Maria Soledad Gomez after his arrest.
On Wednesday, May 5, a jury found him guilty of strangling the 68-year-old after a row. He dismembered her body before eating part of her remains over the next fortnight, Mail Online reported.
The jurors, six women, and three men, also dismissed Sanchez Gomez’s claims he was experiencing a ‘psychotic episode’ when he murdered and dismembered his mother.
State prosecutors demanded a 15 year and five-month prison sentence for Mr. Alberto if convicted of homicide and desecration of a human corpse when his two-week murder trial started on April 19 at Madrid’s Audiencia Provincial court.
The judge will now decide how long he should be jailed for in the next few days.
Sanchez Gomez told police who arrested him at their flat in Madrid on February 21, 2019, that he had been eating his mum ‘bit by bit’ with his pet dog.
Detectives found parts of tragic Soledad’s remains in Tupperware containers in their fridge and bones in drawers around the family home, an apartment near the Spanish capital’s famous Las Ventas bullring.
Her head, hands, and heart were found on her bed with local reports disclosing at the time that her body had been cut up into more than 1,000 tiny pieces.
Officers who got him to open the door of the apartment they shared are said to have received the response: ‘Yes, my mother is in here, dead.’
The alarm was raised by a worried friend of Soledad’s who told the authorities she hadn’t seen her for a month.
A prosecution indictment submitted to the court ahead of the trial revealed that the cannibal killer used a carpenter’s saw and two kitchen knives to cut up his mum’s body.
Sanchez, whose dad died when he was 15, claimed in court at the start of his murder trial he had heard ‘hidden messages’ when he watched TV and voices telling him: ‘Kill your mum.’
He reportedly told Madrid’s Audiencia Provincial court that the voices were those of neighbours, acquaintances, and celebrities. But he insisted he didn’t remember cutting up his mum or eating her remains as he told police when they went to the murder scene.
During a final address to the court last Friday he insisted: ‘I’m very repentant. I suffer anxiety from the moment I wake up.
‘I think of my mum and I’m absolutely heartbroken.’
Jurors heard the convicted killer, who regularly consumed drugs and alcohol, had been arrested 12 times for mistreating his mum before killing her.
A police officer who gave evidence during the trial said: ‘He began to tell us as he was being transferred to a police station that the he had strangled her from behind.
‘He also said he had eaten parts of her body, some cooked and some raw, and had given some pieces to the dog.’
Melinda Gates reportedly rented a private $132,000-a-night island so that she and her family would be able to avoid media attention amid her divorce from her husband of 27 years, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates.
Earlier this week, the billionaire couple announced their decision to end their marriage, writing in a joint statement at the time: “After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage.”
Melinda actually filed papers in court confirming that the marriage was “irretrievably broken.”
However, sources told TMZ that the couple had actually planned to make the announcement in March, at which point Melinda then rented Calivigny Island in Grenada to escape media scrutiny.
According to the outlet’s sources, the plan was for Melinda and the couple’s three children, as well as some family members, to stay on the island, which Bill was reportedly not invited to.
Calivigny is considered to be one of the most exclusive private islands in the world.
The island’s Beach House residence offers 10 luxury suites and the master bedroom has its own jacuzzi room. The 80-acre island is reached by a five-minute boat ride from Grenada.
On why the couple delayed the news of their separation, the sources told TMZ that lawyers for both Bill and Melinda were trying to “hash out a divorce settlement,” but that Melinda decided to go to anyway.
Sources also said that the family has taken Melinda’s side for the most part and that it is not a “friendly split”.
On the day they announced their divorce, the Microsoft founder’s investment firm transferred $1.8bn in stock to his estranged wife, according to Bloomberg.
The Microsoft co-founder turned philanthropist and his wife built up a combined $124bn (£89bn) fortune together, making them among the five richest couples in the world.

A jury in Rome on Wednesday, May 5, delivered verdicts against Finnegan Lee Elder, 21, and Gabriel Natale-Hjorth, 20, handing them life imprisonement for the murder of Vice Brigadier Mario Cerciello Rega, 35.
Elder and Natale-Hjorth, who became friends while attending Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley, California, were found guilty on all charges of homicide, attempted extortion, assault, resisting a public official and carrying an attack-style knife without just cause.
Prosecutors alleged that Elder stabbed Rega 11 times with a knife that he brought with him on his trip to Europe from California and that Natale-Hjorth helped him hide the knife in their hotel room.
The stabbing occured on July 26, 2019, after Natale-Hjorth and Elder tried to buy cocaine with 80 euros ($96) from a man outside the hotel where they were staying in Rome’s Trastevere district, but were sold a crushed-up bag of aspirin instead.
The pair then allegedly stole a bag belonging to the suspected drug dealer and demanded 100 euros and a gram of cocaine for him to get it back.
The man agreed and told the pair he would meet them to exchange the bag, but instead called police to report that he was stolen from.
Policeman Rega (pictured below) and his partner, who were wearing plainclothes, were dispatched to the agreed meeting spot where they confronted the two Americans and identified themselves in Italian as police before Elder stabbed Rega.
Prosecutors allege that the police officer was stabbed 11 times with a knife whose blade measures seven inches long.
Rega’s widow Rosa Maria Esilio, who held a photo of her dead husband while waiting for the verdict, sobbed and hugged his brother Paolo as the verdict was read out in court.
As Elder was being walked out of the courtroom after hearing his sentence, his father Ethan Elder called out, ‘Finnegan, I love you.’
During court proceedings, both young men maintained their innocence and claimed they were jumped from behind by their adversaries, whom they believed to be thugs sent by a drug dealer who had swindled them when they earlier tried to buy cocaine.
They both told investigators they did not know Rega and his partner were police because they were not in uniform.
While it was Elder who drove the knife into Rega, Natale-Hjorth faced the same charges because under Italian law, an accomplice in an alleged murder can also be charged with murder even without materially doing the slaying.
At the time of the killing, Elder was 19 and traveling through Europe without his family, while Natale-Hjorth, then 18, was spending the summer vacation with his Italian grandparents, who live near Rome.
A woman who murdered her friend and dismembered her body after she refused to have sex with her, has been jailed for life with a minimum of 23 and a half years.
Gareeca Gordon, 28, murdered Phoenix Netts, also 28, at the property where they both lived in Birmingham on April 16 last year.
Gordon, a Jamaican national stabbed Miss Netts four times, causing fatal injuries, before cutting her body into six parts with a circular saw she bought on Gumtree for £45.
Gordon admitted to killing Ms. Netts after being accused of stabbing the former student to death at the HMO property the pair shared in Lozells, West Birmingham, on 16 April.
The killer pleaded guilty to the murder a few days before she was due to stand trial.
Prosecutor Andrew Smith QC said the victim had told a friend in February that Gordon had “demanded sex with her” and became “aggressive” when she refused.
On 7 April, she texted a friend: “There’s a girl here who keeps asking me to be sexual. I think I’m going to move back to London. It’s scaring me lol.”
Bristol Crown Court heard that Gordon called the Samaritans on 11 April and appeared “tipsy”.
“The clear focus of the call was Ms Gordon describing that she liked another woman and wanting to have sex with her,” Mr Smith said.
“At one stage Ms Gordon said either that her loins were warming up or were hot.”
Ms Netts’ last-known contact was a phone call with a friend in the early hours of 16 April.
Internet searches including “how to fix punctured lung”, “internal bleeding” and “can someone recover from getting stabbed” were made on her phone between 1.04pm and 3.07pm, the court heard.
The victim had been stabbed four times in the front of her torso but according to a post-mortem she would have lived if she had got swift medical help.
Another woman living in the shared accommodation heard drilling and banging noises, as well as shouts of “help me, help me”, Mr Smith told the court.
She said Gordon had gone to ‘considerable efforts’ to dispose of the remains of Ms. Netts and to pretend she was still alive in ‘cold and calculated’ messages to her friends and family.
‘You impersonated Ms Netts in a substantial number of WhatsApp messages to her mother, including requests for money,’ the judge told Gordon.
‘You impersonated her in messages. You noted expressions that Ms. Netts used by listening to audio files Ms Netts had on her phone.’
Gordon had no previous convictions, apart from two offences of shoplifting. She had been diagnosed with a personality disorder as well as post-traumatic stress disorder.
Sentencing Gordon to life with a minimum term of 23 years and six months at Bristol Crown Court, judge Mrs. Justice Cutts described Miss Netts as a ‘deeply loved’ person.
‘Her future was looking bright, shining and promising. A fresh start was ahead of her,’ the judge told Gordon
‘You robbed her of that fresh start. You took her from the supportive parents who loved and cherished her.’
Justice Cutts told Gordon that her personality disorder may explain ‘in part’ why she killed Ms Netts but it had not “distorted” reality for her at the time.
Mrs Justice Cutts said: ‘Gareeca Gordon for the murder of Phoenix Netts I sentence you to life imprisonment.
‘You will serve a minimum term of 23 years and six months. Thereafter, it will be for the parole board to decide when, if ever, you should be released.
‘If you are ever released, you will remain on licence for the rest of your life.’

Ivie narrated how a woman named Nora contacted her to buy things from her. From there, they discovered they were neighbours in Cameroon and Nora tried to be friends.
However, Ivie said she didn’t want a friendship and wanted to keep it strictly business.
According to Ivie, this angered Nora and she then created fake accounts to spread lies about her and her family.
She later discovered from Nora’s friends that she’s the one behind the account and when Nora refused to stop, Ivie said she sent a letter to Nora’s baby daddy, Slim.
She said she had no idea they were in it together and they tore the letter and posted the video to the same account Nora claimed she knew nothing about.
Eventually, Ivie said Nora managed to convince Slim to disfigure her so that she will stop feeling too proud.
Ivie claims Slim paid mercenaries to pour acid on her.
The alleged mercenary, Tabe Jones, allegedly hired someone to do the dirty job.
She said she was attacked and acid was poured on her face, chest, and arm. She suffered burns to 15 percent of her body and had to be admitted to the hospital.
She has undergone 3 surgeries to repair her left eye and face, and has to undergo three more.

She said Nora, Slim, and Tabe Jones are on the run.
She claimed Slim is hiding in Congo or Kenya according to reports while Nora and Jones are hiding somewhere in Cameroon.
Real Madrid and Spain legend, Iker Casillas was reportedly rushed to hospital last week after suffering a second heart attack in two years.
The 2010 World Cup winner previously suffered a heart attack during a training session with Porto in 2019 and left the hospital five days after the incident.
He retired from playing just over a year after his first scare at Porto.
Reports in Spain claim that Casillas has suffered another issue with his heart.
Spanish outlet Hola stated that the Real Madrid icon was playing padle tennis last week with some friends before suffering ‘severe chest pains’.
He was rushed to hospital, although Casillas is said to have been able to walk through the front doors by himself. And after an examination by doctors, it was reportedly ruled out of being a high-risk problem.
Casillas was allowed to be discharged later that day from Quironsalud Madrid University Hospital.
Last year, Casillas opened up on the terrifying ordeal he suffered in the final few months of his playing career.
“There is a sensation of half a second, or not even that, when you take a breath of air and it tastes different,” Casillas said in November 2020.
“I noticed that I felt heavy and short of air, and I began to think it might be an allergy. Then, when I went to the goalkeeping coach, I felt my chest begin to tighten and I noticed that I was running out of air.
“I told him, ‘Roberto, give me sugar or something because I feel wrong and I don’t know what’s wrong with me’. I lay down on the ground and I could see something serious was happening to me.
“It’s like you’re in a pool and suddenly you want to get out and you can’t, it was an anguish. I was getting more and more short of breath. ‘Robert, please call the doctor,’ I said. ‘I’m drowning’.”
Casillas, who spent most of his career with Real Madrid made 725 appearances for the Spanish giants. He won three Champions Leagues, five La Liga titles, and two Copa del Rey crowns. He also led Spain to glory, winning three major tournaments, Euro 2008, the 2010 World Cup, and Euro 2012.

U.S. South Carolina lawmakers on Wednesday May 5, voted to permit firing squads as a legal execution method for prisoners on death row, amid a lack of lethal-injection drugs.
The bill, approved by a 66-43 vote, will require death row inmates to choose either being shot or electrocuted if lethal injection drugs aren’t available.
The state is one of only nine in the United States that still use the electric chair and will become only the fourth to allow a firing squad.
South Carolina last executed a death row inmate 10 years ago and the state’s Republican Governor, Henry McMaster has said he will sign the legislation into law.
The bill was reportedly pushed by republicans as a way to bring closure to families waiting for offenders to be punished.
“Those families of victims to these capital crimes are unable to get any closure because we are caught in this limbo stage where every potential appeal has been exhausted and the legally imposed sentences cannot be carried out,” representative Weston Newton told the Associated Press.
However, many Democrats opposed the move on moral grounds, and cited the ways the death penalty as a whole is used “disproportionately against Black people.”
The state currently has 37 death row inmates and nearly half of them are black
The Democrats supported firing squads over the electric chair while opposing the death penalty as a whole.
“They’re dead instantly,” Democratic senator Dick Harpootlian told TheWashington Post as the bill was working its way through the statehouse. “The actual pain and suffering of death, it’s actually the least painful and the least suffering of any manner of death.”
Death by electric chair is a “horrible, horrible thing to do to another human being,” where “they are burned to death,” he added.
The other three states that allow a firing squad are Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Utah, according to the Death Penalty Information Center.
A Kenyan man identified as Stanley Owino, has been arrested for slashing the face of his ex-girlfriend with a sword.
Usikimye, a women-led community organization fighting to end gender-based violence, shared Jacqueline Karima’s story on Wednesday, May 5.
It was gathered that Owini had repeatedly attacked and threatened Jacqueline since their eight years relationship ended in 2020 due to his numerous affairs.
According to the NGO, Jacqueline had gone to buy soda at a nearby shop when Owini allegedly broke into her fifth floor apartment and hid in her bedroom.
When she returned, he ambushed her with a Masai sword which he used to slash her face as well as other parts of her body.
Taking to Facebook to report the story, Usikimye wrote;
This is Jacqueline Karimi (pictures used with permission).
Jacky was living with her boyfriend of eight years Stanley Owino until sometime last year when they parted ways , he had been having numerous affairs , and had even moved in with a lady who they got a baby with.
She moved out and her ordeal started there, Stanley threatening her that her would never let her go. The first time her followed her and stabbed her was in November. She reported and went to hospital, he disappeared and wasn’t arrested.
On January 05th this year , Stanley attacked her again and stabbed her in the back amongst other places , his claim was if he couldn’t have her no one would. Jacky was admitted to Hospital fighting for her life. Upon release she opted to move out of the estate, change her number and start afresh in a completely new environment. This matter was still reported, and he fled once again.
Yesterday Jacky who lives on fifth floor went to buy soda at the shop, she didn’t lock her door, however in returning, she was filled with trepidation, and as she used to she checked everywhere, the last place was her bedroom, where Stanley was waiting to ambush her with a Masai sword which he used to slash her face as well as her body.
We found out that Stanley had been tracking Jacky and had moved to the flat where she was staying and had been monitoring her movements. The police are currently in the house.
Stanley had finally been arrested and will be taking plea in court tomorrow and I don’t have enough thanks for Cynthia Njoroge for agreeing immediately to hold brief for this matter.
Boxing icon, Floyd Mayweather has reportedly asked his stripper fiance, Anna Monroe, to move out of his $11 million mansion in Las Vegas so he can focus on his boxing.
The 43-year-old undefeated champion proposed to Anna Monroe, 29, – lead dancer at his Las Vegas club Girl Collection, shortly after news of their relationship was revealed by The Sun earlier this year.
The Brit-American moved into his Vegas compound, which boasts 11 bedrooms, 14 bathrooms, and two guest houses when they started dating.
But Anna has now moved back into her old apartment so Mayweather can focus on preparing for his exhibition fight against Youtuber Logan Paul on June 6 and future fights, the insider said.
“Floyd asked Anna to move out because he wants to focus on his boxing as he prepares for his next fights,” a source told The Sun.
“Some of her friends think it’s strange because he lives in a huge mansion in Vegas with 11 bedrooms and two guest houses – so there’s more than enough room for him to have his own space, but Floyd wanted her to go so he could focus.
Floyd is getting back into boxing more and more – even though he has supposed to have retired.
“So everything is being put on hold for the time being.
“Anna has moved back into her old apartment. It’s been a stressful time for her but she is being understanding and she knows he is the one who calls the shots in their relationship.
“They are still together and she is supportive of him.”
Anna had previously told friends she wanted to have a baby with Floyd this year, a source previously told The Sun.
“Anna has told family and friends she’s getting married and wants to have a baby with Floyd this year…” the source said.
“Her family and friends have had their concerns about the relationship but she’s an adult, it’s her decision and they want her to be happy.”
Floyd Mayweather will take on internet star Paul, 26, in a six-round exhibition fight on June 6 in Miami.
Spiritual director of Adoration Ministry Enugu, Nigeria (AMEN), Fr. Ejike Mbaka has alleged that the leadership of the Catholic diocese in Enugu state wanted to close his ministry for one month.
Mbaka made the claim shortly after resurfacing after initially being declared missing.
According to the cleric, the church leadership, led by Bishop Calistus Onaga summoned him over his recent comments concerning Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and his connection to the presidency.
Mbaka said the church leadership told him he would remain indoors for a period of one month to enable him pray and meditate over his activities. He further claimed that even though he refused to the demand, he was released because of the protest over his whereabout.
He said;
“How can they believe what others say, and they will not believe what the priest is saying? The emphasis is ‘please, let me go to celebrate the mass’, but they said ‘no’. If a priest will request to celebrate mass and they say ‘no’, that means something is wrong.
“Allow me to and celebrate mass for my people just for today, I won’t even tell them that I am being punished, they said, No. I will just tell my members that I’m going for 30 days prayer, that after 30 days, we will come back and everybody will obey, they said, No.
“I also begged them to appoint another priest to come and celebrate mass for you today, they also said No.
“They didn’t treat me in a pastoral way. I was asking ‘am I being punished for what’?
“They said it was a meeting, but even before I reached the Bishop’s house, conclusion has already been made. What happened to me was like the day I was shot on the road.
“Unfortunately for them, even before the meeting, a woman was already going around bragging that the Bishop will call me for a meeting, and that I was going to leave my house here for 30 days, and that after the 30 days, I would be sent to Rome, and Adoration ministry will be closed.
“In a time and cases like this, don’t give me a punishment that will cause troubles for us because I’m not alone.”
Madonna’s protégé and Levi’s launderette model, Nick Kamen has died at the age of 59 after a secret battle with bone marrow cancer.
The Essex-born model, real name Ivor Neville Kamen, who was also a singer, died on Monday night, May 3, at his £1million flat in Notting Hill, West London.
Kamen had suffered from cancer for two years and was being nursed by his girlfriend, Lucinda, his older brother, Ronald Kamen, 65, told MailOnline today.
He said: ‘His breathing was very shallow and he knew what was coming. He did fight it very hard. I was with him a few days ago.
‘We have been able to see him, but only one at at time due to the pandemic. That made things a lot worse but he did have the cancer before all the lockdowns.’
Ronald, from Oxford, said his younger brother had undergone a full blood transfusion as part of his treatment.
‘Sadly, the cancer was not caught in time. His girlfriend Lucinda who lived with him in Notting Hill will be speaking for the family.’
Tchaik Chassay, 62, who lives above Mr Kamen, told MailOnline: ‘I last saw Nick about four months ago and he said it was a miracle that he’s still alive.
‘He was very weak but I was delighted to see him going for a walk with Lucinda but he barely managed to stay on his feet.’
He added: ‘Nick was a wonderful man and everybody around here knew him. He didn’t speak much about his days as a singer and to be honest, I wasn’t that interested. I just liked him for who he was.’
One neighbour said: ‘Nick knew he was dying for quite some time and Lucinda was a great comfort to him.
‘Nick came from quite a large family and a lot of them would come to visit him too. He had a fantastic life but we will all miss him.’
Friends have taken to social media to pay tributes to the model.
Duran Duran wrote: ‘So so sad to hear of the passing of Nick Kamen. One of the loveliest and gentlest men I ever met. He was a beloved friend to my daughter and her Mom. We shall all miss him. RIP Nick’.
Comedian Matt Lucas tweeted: ‘If you didn’t have a crush on Nick Kamen in the 80s, you probably weren’t there. RIP.’
And director Mark Lebon wrote: ‘RIP MY DEAR FRIEND’
The model was best known for starring in a 1985 Levis 501 commercial, in which he famously stripped off in a launderette, sending sales of the jeans soaring by 500% as demand failed to match supply.
Following the success of the advert, he collaborated with Madonna on the song “Each Time You Break My Heart”.
Madonna co-wrote the song with Stephen Bray and, in 1986, told BBC radio she had requested the duet after being inspired by the model’s “charisma” and “beautiful voice”.
Kamen went on to release four LPs between 1987 and 1992. His other songs include Honey, I Shrunk the Kids soundtrack song “Turn It Up” (1989) and 1990’s “I Promised Myself”.
He also dated famous women including the actress Talisa Soto and supermodel Tatjana Patitz. He embarked on a romance with TV presenter Amanda de Cadenet from 1999 to 2001, after which he adopted a lower profile and was rarely seen in public.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that the calls for secession might lead to extermination of minority groups in the country.
The former President said this while receiving the Tiv Professional Group (TPG) from Benue State, who paid him a courtesy visit in Abeokuta on Wednesday May 5.
Recounting how a Military friend told him that major tribes in the country are selfish and not sufficiently caring for the minority groups, Obasanjo said he aligned with his friend’s opinion and also expressed worry over what will become of these minority tribes if major tribes decide to secede and begin to operate as separate countries.
He said;
“If the Yoruba can stand as a country, if the Igbos and the Hausa/Fulani can stand as separate countries, where do we want the minority groups to be?
“Now, by virtue of the present situation, they are a little bit protected, but if Nigeria breaks up, they will be oppressed and exterminated.”
Also recalling his meetings with a number of socio-cultural organisations in September 2020, Obasanjo noted that nobody at such meetings talked about disintegration or breakup. He said “all they clamoured for was a change for good.”
Manchester City football club are in a secret legal battle with the Premier League over their financial fair play investigation according to new reports.
In 2019, the premier league announced they would look into the finances of the club but didn’t elaborate further.
However, according to the New York Times, new documents show the club are now challenging the Premier league in the civil courts over an undisclosed matter but have kept proceedings private.
It is believed that the club is being investigated for financial breaches in the way the club is being run.
Should the club be found guilty, the Premier League’s rules state they could be punished with a points deduction or a fine.
The report in the New York Times comes after City successfully had a two-year ban from UEFA competition overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport in 2020.
City are closing in on their fifth Premier League title, as they sit 13 points clear at the top of the table with four games to play.
And Pep Guardiola’s side can wrap up the title on Saturday if they beat Chelsea at the Etihad.
Former US president, Donald Trump on Tuesday May 4, launched a communications platform, where he can post messages that can be shared by others to Twitter and Facebook, sites where he remains banned.
The platform, “From the Desk of Donald J. Trump” appears on www.DonaldJTrump.com/desk. The platform allows Trump to post comments, images, and videos.
The webpage is referred to as a ‘beacon of freedom’ in a time of ‘lies and silence’ in a promotional video, which shows imagery of Mar-a-Lago, where the former president has been living since leaving the White House.
Trump’s senior adviser, Jason Miller, said in a tweet that: President Trump’s website is a great resource to find his latest statements and highlights from his first term in office, but this is not a new social media platform. We’ll have additional information coming on that front in the very near future.”

An inmate at the jail where Derek Chauvin is being held has warned that the convicted former Minneapolis cop is not safe in prison.
Hannabal Shaddai, who is serving a life sentence at Minnesota Correctional Facility, doesn’t believe George Floyd’s killer is safe among the prison population because of his former profession and the nature of the crime.
Shaddai, 45, claims he doesn’t seek revenge but believes Chauvin wouldn’t be safe as violence occurs regularly at the maximum-security prison in Oak Park Heights.
He told Paradox: “First of all, he’s a cop. Then he did what he did. So it’s not safe for him to be here. Best case scenario for him is he’s going to get beat up a lot. I don’t think he’s safe in any prison population.”
The prisoner, who watched the video of Chauvin pressing his knee against George Floyd’s neck, believes the photo of the ex-cop with his hands in his pockets says “everything about the country”.
The inmate said: “I’m dark skinned so you know, it hits home. “That whole picture says to me everything in this country.”
“It says, ‘I’m going to kill one of you mother******* in broad daylight with the help of one of your own and ain’t nobody going to do nothing about it.”
Shaddai also called for Chauvin to be given a path towards forgiveness, adding that he was also painted as a “monster” at his victim’s trial.
He said: “The dude (Chauvin) is an abnormal man, we make him out to be a monster. Just like when I went to trial, the victim’s family said I was a monster.”
It comes as Chauvin’s attorney filed a motion asking for a new trial, claiming the former police officer’s conviction came after “jury misconduct”.
Eric J. Nelson requested a new trial on the following grounds: “the interest of justice; abuse of discretion that deprived the Defendant of a fair trial; prosecutorial and jury misconduct; errors of law at trial; and a verdict that is contrary to law.”
Tottenham football club will still pay former boss Jose Mourinho £10million, despite his appointment on Tuesday, May 3 as the new coach of Roma.
Mourinho landed a new job just 15 days after being sacked by Tottenham, signing a three-year deal with the Italians worth £5m a year — compared to the annual £15m he was getting at Spurs.
But as part of his severance package he entered into with Tottenham, the club will pay him the shortfall in salary if he took another post on lower wages before the end of his contract next summer.
That means when Mourinho takes over at the Stadio Olimpico this summer he will receive £5m from Roma and, for next season only, £10m from Tottenham.
But Spurs see it as a financial victory, as they have saved £5m on what they would have paid him had he not accepted another job.
The ex-Porto, Chelsea, Inter, Real Madrid and Manchester United boss wants to show he is not at fault for his Tottenham sack.
He also reportedly wants to show that he has not been affected by his shock departure after just 17 months in charge.

A woman who worked as a bank cleaner for 35 years left a note for her “awful manager” on her last day at work.
The woman also left a word of advice for all the staff at the bank.
The letter was shared to Twitter by the woman’s son with the caption: “And this is why I love my mum. She’s been cleaning banks for 35 years and today walked out with this lovely note left for that awful manager. Happy retirement Mum – always have the last laugh eh!”
The note reads: “Hi ladies, tomorrow will be my last clean for HSBC. I have made a bucket of iss cleaning materials for the next cleaner, whoever that may be!!
“I’ve left the job Julie after the way you dressed me down in the office. It was nothing more than aggressive and cruel but that’s a reflection on your character, not mine.
“So. going forward, please, all of you, remember, in a world when you can be anything, be kind. Because you are all no better than the cleaner.”
Anthony Joshua has opened up on his preparation for his huge showdown with Tyson Fury, insisting that he’s prepared for ‘torture’ during training for the clash.
The British boxers are set to face off twice this year in a huge fight, although no final dates have been sealed for the bout but both men are in training.
The fight will unify the heavyweight division and the winner will go down as the undisputed king of his generation.
Speaking ahead of the fight, Joshua told the skipper of his hometown club, Watford’s Troy Deeney, on the striker’s podcast: ‘Am I excited? I ain’t excited, it is what it is,’
‘I’m getting ready to walk through a brick wall and nothing is getting in my way. I’m ready to go through whatever pain, torture, adversity I have to go through in order to win, that’s why i’m really looking forward to it.
‘I know I’m the man of this division and I will be for a long time. I came through this game quick and the way I had to learn was through mistakes, on the public stage as well.
‘I came into this game not to take part but to take over, I feel I’m on a different wavelength and frequency.
‘I do it with a smile on my face but I’m dedicated to these things. Recapping over Covid I thought, man, I’ve put a lot into this and now I need to back myself.’
This comes after Fury called Joshua: ‘A big, useless dosser. Not a real fighting man. A hype job. Bodybuild(er), crossfit, big, ugly s***house. That’s Anthony Joshua.’
The younger fighter then brushed off Fury’s talk: ‘It’s just psychological warfare.
‘I’ve learnt a lot with that. The man will talk about drinking pints and he’s not interested but yet he wants to look chiseled, he’s training the hardest he’s ever trained, he’s the skinniest he’s ever been.
‘AJ has a good body and he trains so he wants to be a body builder, but Tyson Fury would do the exact same thing if he could. I am everything he wants to be.
‘He wants to have a six-pack, that’s why he’s training as hard as he’s training right now. Why he looks so chiseled, why he’s in America.
‘I promise you I’m honoured, I’m humbled, I know it’s going to be tough but I truly believe I am tough enough to go through it. I don’t need to talk about Tyson Fury and I don’t need to belittle the man, he can do what he wants.’
Inter Milan/Belgium star striker, Romelu Lukaku has claimed that he would “fight to the death” for his coach, Antonio Conte while hailing the Inter boss following the team’s 2020-21 Scudetto triumph.
Conte won Inter’s first Serie A crown in 11 years at the weekend following Atalanta’s 1-1 draw with Sassuolo.
Lukaku meanwhile has scored 21 goals in 33 league appearances, and says his coach should be credited for helping to take his game to the next level.
“I would fight to the death for him. I couldn’t join him at Chelsea, but I always said I would play for him the day I left Manchester United,” the Belgian striker told La Tribune.
“Conte told me very directly: ‘If you don’t work in training you won’t play, it’s essential that you know how to play with your back to goal’.
“It’s important to meet people who tell you the absolute truth to help you improve.”
Lukaku admitted to being relieved after winning only the second trophy of his career in the form of the Serie A title, insisting that he has always valued team silverware above individual records.
“I thought it was now or never,” he added. “In a career you can score 500 goals, but if you don’t win in the end it’s all in vain.”
The 27-year-old still has three years left to run on his contract at Inter, and hopes to go on and achieve even greater success .
“Last year was good too, but this was the best of my career,” Lukaku told Sky Italia after the Nerazzurri’s title win.
“It’s wonderful and I hope to continue like this. I want to thank everyone, I am truly so happy.”
Lionel Messi is facing a probe by La Liga and Catalan government officials over a potential breach in Covid-19 protocols after it emerged he hosted a barbecue party for his Barcelona teammates at his mansion on Monday night.
Reports in Spain said the Argentine striker hosted the gathering with wives and girlfriends of his teammates also in attendance.
Messi, who serves as Barca captain wanted his teammates to bond ahead of what could be a title decider against leaders Atletico Madrid on Saturday.
According to ABC, Messi’s intention of boosting morale may land him in hot water by breaching LaLiga rules that prevent gatherings of more than six.
The publication states that the barbecue observed social distancing with tables carefully laid out and that people were outside but adds that LaLiga officials were caught by surprise when reading in the media that Messi was hosting a get-together.
This comes after Atletico Madrid squad recently held a similar bonding exercise and were not punished by the league because they informed them ahead of time and made sure all protocols were followed.
An official is quoted by the Spanish publication as saying: ‘It is a different case because they (Atletico) told us in advance and they gave us all the details of what they were going to do.
‘The League was aware of that meal and all security requirements were met. The celebration of this barbecue, we have found out from the press.’
An 18 month old baby has been left traumatised after being bitten on the face by a dog in an unprovoked attack.
Toddler, Kelsie Male, was thrown back onto the pavement after an Alsatian dog lunged and sunk its teeth into her face missing her eye by just millimetres.
Her mother Sophie Garth, 28, who was a few steps behind, desperately ran to help her out and then rushed the bloodied and bruised girl to hospital.
Sophie and her partner Stuart Male, 33, went strolling with their three older children when the attack took place last week Saturday.
According to Sophie, they were walking down the pavement near to their home when the dog appeared from nowhere and immediately lunged for Kelsie’s face.
The baby was thrown backwards by the force of the animal and sustained minor injuries but her parents say the incident has left the baby deeply traumatized.
The family, from Portland, Dorset, say the attack has left their youngest daughter waking up crying in the night, unhappy to be left alone and ‘jumpy’ around both people and other dogs.
Mother Sophie said: ‘Watching that dog go for my daughter is a sight that will sadly never leave me and I can still hear her crying when I close my eyes.
‘I was about four steps behind her on the pavement but the dog just came out of nowhere, completely unprovoked – it was bigger than her and sent her flying off the curb onto the floor.
‘It was awful seeing her in so much pain as she is such a lovely little girl with a big heart.
‘Thankfully her injuries are mainly recovered now, but the situation could have been so much different if the dog had bitten just millimetres higher on her face and got her in the eye.
‘She’s still traumatised – she wakes up in the night crying, she gets jumpy around everyone and she doesn’t want to be left alone.’
Police attended the scene but no arrests were made. The dog was believed to be owned by a visiting friend of one of the street’s residents.
As Sophie and Stuart rushed their daughter to Weymouth hospital, they said Kelsie’s face and mouth were bleeding and she had bruises all over her back from the fall.
Sophie added: ‘She had blood over one side of her face but I was so scared to touch her in case I hurt her or caused it to get infected.
‘She cried for hours without stopping – I will never be able to forget the sound of those cries.’
Sophie said: ‘What happened that day will never leave my memory – my beautiful little girl was bitten for no reason.
‘You never expect this kind of thing will ever happen to your child, she is such a lovely girl, she has a big heart, and she was a huge animal lover before this.
‘She’s incredibly lucky that the dog missed her eye or this could have been so much worse, but it shouldn’t have happened in the first place.
‘We’re just praying that she will get over the trauma and go back to how she was before.
‘I just want this to be a warning to other parents to be wary letting their children near dogs you don’t know – you can never be sure what might happen and it’s not worth the risk.’
Tristan Thompson has hired a legal team to shoot down new cheating allegations from an Instagram model.
The NBA player said Sydney Chase’s claim that they “hooked up” in January and he spoke to her last in April is a lie. He’s also threatening to sue if she continues making the claim.
Tristan, who is back with Khloe Kardashian, had his attorney, Marty Singer, send a cease and desist letter to Sydney Chase.
In the letter, obtained by TMZ, Marty Singer calls Sydney’s allegations “malicious defamatory fabrications,” adding, “Mr. Thompson had no relationship with you whatsoever and he never sent you any such texts.”
Singer goes on to accuse Chase of making up quotes from Tristan and having no proof to back up her claims, and blasts her by saying, “It is obvious that you are a liar.”
The letter concludes by saying if Chase doesn’t stop “defaming” Thompson in the media or online, “you do so at your peril since you may find yourself in court attempting to defend your indefensible misconduct.”
Thompson’s attorney also sent a cease and desist letter to Adam22, host of the “No Jumper” podcast on which Sydney Chase initially made the cheating allegations.
“No Jumper” has already removed the portion of Sydney’s interview where she talks about the alleged fling.
As for Sydney Chase, she isn’t backing down. She responded to Tristan’s legal threat, saying she has not received a cease and desist letter.
She adds, “Let this be a lesson to not let anyone no matter the money or fame they have, to shut you down or tarnish your name.”
The Indonesian government has vowed to issue “strict punishment” for some staff of a state-owned pharmaceutical company accused of washing and reusing cotton swabs for COVID-19 tests at a busy international airport.
At least five people employed by Kimia Farma Diagnostika are accused of washing and reusing nasal swabs for thousands of coronavirus tests since December 2020, according to ABC News.
The staff conducted the rapid antigen tests for passengers at Kualanamu airport in the city of Medan, and police have estimated that they reused swabs from 150 kits up to 20,000 times.
The company recently revealed they had dismissed the workers allegedly involved and would fully support a police investigation.
“I strongly condemn the actions of unscrupulous Kimia Farma officers,” Indonesia’s state-owned enterprises Minister Erick Thohir said on Twitter.
“Such action must be subject to very strict punishment.”
Kimia Farma Diagnostika’s director Adil Fadhilah Bulqini condemned the workers in a statement and said that reusing swabs was against the company’s standard operating procedures.
A North Sumatra police spokesman said the group was suspected of siphoning 1.8 billion Indonesian rupiah ($160,500) through the practice of charging people for tainted tests.
If prosecuted, the suspects could face up to 10 years in prison, the spokesman said.
Tonang Dwi Ardyanto, a pathology expert from Sebelas Maret University, said the reuse of swab tests could have posed a number of health risks to passengers.
“After opening and using it, the swab tool is actually no longer suitable for use,” he said.
“So [the risk is from] not only COVID, but also bacteria, viruses and other pathogens.”
Former Manchester United player, Ryan Giggs has been spotted out in public for the first time since he appeared in court charged with assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Ms Greville.
The Wales coach, 47, was pictured all smiles enjoying breakfast with his new partner Zara Charles, 33, over the weekend.
The couple were later seen again as they walked his dog Atlas near her home in upmarket village of Hale in Cheshire.
The former footballer was charged because of an alleged row with Ms Greville, 36, and her sister at his £1.7million mansion in Worsley, Greater Manchester.
Giggs is accused of causing actual bodily harm to PR worker Ms. Greville at his home in November.

He has also been charged with the common assault of a woman in her 20s – understood to be Ms. Greville’s sister – during the same alleged incident.
He also faces an additional charge of coercive and controlling behaviour between December 2017 and November 2020.
Giggs appeared on bail at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday and has denied the charges against him.

A woman who didn’t know she was pregnant gave birth to a baby boy mid-flight.
Lavinia “Lavi” Mounga was flying from Salt Lake City to Honolulu on April 28 for a vacation when she gave birth to her son, Raymond.
He was born early at just 29 weeks gestation.
Luckily, a doctor from Hawaii and three neonatal intensive care unit nurses from North Kansas City Hospital were also on board the almost seven-hour Delta flight to help Mounga deliver her baby.
“We were about halfway through the flight, and we heard someone call out for medical help,” North Kansas City Hospital NICU Nurse Lani Bamfield said in a release. “I went to see what was going on and see her there holding a baby in her hands, and it’s little.”
Bamfield and the other neonatal nurses cared for Mounga and Raymond for three hours until the flight landed in Honolulu. They were then transported to Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children in Honolulu.
Hawaii Pacific Health family medicine physician Dr. Dale Glenn, who was on board the flight, said in a statement: “I don’t know how a patient gets so lucky as to have three neonatal intensive care nurses onboard the same flight when she is in emergency labor, but that was the situation we were in.
“The great thing about this was the teamwork. Everybody jumped in together, and everyone helped out.”
He described how challenging it was to care for both patients in such a small confined space like an airplane. They also had to improvise on tools, using shoelaces to tie and cut the umbilical cord and an Apple Watch to monitor the baby’s heart rate.
Glenn and the team of nurses visited Mounga and Raymond at the hospital two days after the surprise birth.
“We all just teared up,” North Kansas City Hospital NICU Nurse Mimi Ho said in the hospital release. “She called us family and said we’re all his aunties, and it was so great to see them.”
Mounga has since been discharged, but Raymond will remain in the NICU until he’s ready to go home, according to Hawaii Pacific Health.

Manchester United football club of England have stepped up security at the club’s stadium, Old Trafford, amid fears of more protests against club owners, the Glazers.
According to The Mirror, organisers of the protest that happened on Sunday ahead of the club’s clash with Liverpool, insist Sunday’s events were the start of a concerted campaign to remove the Glazers from United – with more protests planned in the coming days and weeks.
Supporters of the club reportedly said they have never felt more “sidelined and ignored” after United were part of the Big Six clubs looking to create a new European Super League.
In light of the security breach that happened at the club on Sunday, where about 200 protestors stormed Old Trafford and forced Sunday’s game against Liverpool to be called off, the club’s management have undertaken a review of security measures at the stadium.
The move to bolster security came amid fears of further anti-Glazer protests at Man United’s next home game, against Leicester a week tomorrow, as well as the rearranged fixture against arch rivals Liverpool according to the Mirror UK.
The scenes of the protests were captured by TV cameras and the footage is being studied by United, in conjunction with Greater Manchester Police, with the club vowing to ban those found guilty of criminal damage.
A statement from Man United reads: “After breaking through barriers and security on the forecourt, some protestors climbed the gates at the end of the Munich tunnel, then forced access to a side door in the stand, before opening an external door that let others through to the concourse area and the pitch.
“A second breach occurred when a protestor smashed the door of a disability access lift, enabling a group to enter the stand.
“The majority of our fans have and will condemn criminal damage, along with any violence towards club staff, police or other fans, and these now become a police matter.”
A Manchester United Supporters Trust open letter reacting to the report said: “No one wants what happened at Old Trafford yesterday to be a regular event. We don’t want to spend our days off work protesting outside our football ground.
“But what happened was the culmination of 16 years in which your family’s ownership of the club has driven us into debt and decline and we have felt ever more sidelined and ignored.”
Ronilza Johnson, 46, who reportedly is a resident in the UK, passed away in hospital in the Brazilian municipality of Anapolis on the night of 1st May. She was hospitalised on 31st March after suffering complications following a botched buttock augmentation at a clandestine clinic in the same municipality a week before.
The surgeon who carried out the procedure has been named as Lucas Santana, and police have said he’s liable for bodily injury, unauthorised practice of medicine and fraudulent misrepresentation.
According to investigators, the biomedical scientist introduced himself to Ronilza as a doctor and told her that he would carry out the operation with the assistance of a medical student.
Santana reportedly injected Ronilza’s buttocks with polymethyl methacrylate, better known as PMMA. The Brazilian Society of Dermatology does not recommend its use for this procedure.
The chemical compound reportedly caused serious infections in Ronilza’s body, resulting in rotting and left in open wound.
After falling ill and being taken to hospital around a week after the procedure, she reported the suspects to the police via telephone.
Ronilza paid BRL 9,000 (GBP 1,194) for the buttock augmentation and nose bioplasty, which the police say were all carried out illegally.
They have named the other suspect as Thierry Cardoso, who is a medical student in Bolivia.
Police officers searched the clandestine clinic and homes of both suspects on 30th April. From Cardoso’s home, in the municipality of Leopoldo de Bulhoes, officers seized “countless” medicines, some of foreign origin, and blank prescriptions.
Products were also seized from the unlicensed clinic, which the health authorities have closed down.
Ronilza Johnson leaves behind a daughter, named as Amberly Johnson by local media outlets G1 and Metropoles. Her daughter’s age is unknown.
Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka has admitted discussing contract with the Buhari-led administration after being called out by the presidency for reportedly being livid after being asked to go through the due process.
Addressing congregants in Enugu on Sunday May 2, Mbaka said he met Buhari for a “contract of securing the country” during his first administration.
He said;
“When they talked about giving Father Mbaka contracts, I don’t want to talk about that, I was laughing. It is a laughable, childish accusation. Whoever is saying that is a shame to himself and shame to the people he is representing. The three men he talked about, I am not here to defend anybody’s stupid allegation, but God used that man to tell the world that Buhari’s government is not giving me money.
“Shehu, may God bless you for telling everybody that you are not giving me a contract. And these are the three men that we brought that will handle insecurity for the country; they had the gadgets. The white people had the facilities. That was during the first administration.
“They said they will help them in conquering insecurity. They had the platform to end insecurity in this country under one month; under Abba Kyari. I just handed them over to the government people. They denied them of these.
“I don’t even know these people. They just came to Enugu and said, can I help them reach the government, that the level of insecurity in this country and how Nigeria has been shipping their oil out, refining and bringing them back, that we are losing. That they have all it takes to revive the oil apparatus in the country and get the whole youths employed and the issue of insecurity will die. These are the three people they rejected their offer, since they know how to talk.”
Mbaka also accused the Buhari-led administration of having no reward mechanism. He also said Garba Shehu should be apologizing because they are yet to thank him now for surviving whatever they are passing through.
He added;
“All the people they have been giving contracts, are they better than me? Am I begging them, do they know how many people I feed? Fortunately, they reported that they denied me of the contract — which contract?”
“And even the people they are talking about that went there, I didn’t even discuss one percent of ‘if you get this contract’; contract of securing the country? What am I going to gain from it? As if to say when he pushes that, Father Mbaka is no longer a Nigerian.
“They have shown that they don’t have what they will call, reward mechanism. If Shehu is a human… I don’t even know who the Shehu is. He should be apologising that by now, they have not come down to say nagode Allah for surviving whatever they are passing through. The last person this administration should fight is Father Mbaka talking here because if they speak against me, the anger of heaven will be upon them and how they will end will shock everybody.”
On being reported to the Pope, Mbaka said “Rome will clap for him for challenging evil governance”.
He said;
“If Rome hears that Father Mbaka is challenging evil governance, Rome will clap for me, so quickly go to Rome.
“Why I don’t want them even to report this to Rome is because if pope hears the extent of my involvement, they may give me a position I may not like You want to report Messi to FIFA that he plays too much ball? They will make him soccer ambassador.”
A top lung surgeon who came out of retirement to fight the pandemic has set himself on fire after feeling guilty for giving Covid to his entire family, according to reports.
Russian Dr Nikolai Shinkarenko, 70, felt “guilty” about having made his relatives sick with the virus, heartbroken friends and colleagues said.
The veteran surgeon, with 42 years medical experience, had called on doctors to return to the frontline to tackle the coronavirus crisis.
“He could not sit at home knowing that he could help hundreds of people in need,” said Andrei Kalmykov, chief doctor of Mikhailovsk Central District Hospital in Volgograd.
“It’s true, his wife was against him going back to work.
“But she understood him too, because she is a doctor herself.”
As he helped Covid-19 patients, he got infected and had to be admitted to his own hospital.
“He was immediately hospitalised in his own department,” said Dr Kalmykov.
“And being on sick leave, he still managed to cheer up patients in his ward.”
But by then the father of three and grandad had “infected his whole family”, he said.
The lung surgeon and his family
Dr Shinkarenko became plagued by guilt over infecting a number of family members.
His family also recovered from the infection, yet, the doctor felt guilty for infecting them in the first place.
“Nikolai decided that it was his fault that everyone got sick, but no one blamed him for this, neither his family, nor his colleagues, nobody,” said a close colleague.
“I spoke with his wife, Nelli.
“She is deeply shocked by what happened.
“According to her, no-one understood at all why Nikolai did this.”
According to reports, he drove to remote wasteland near Volgograd and stepped away from his car before emptying petrol over himself and striking a match, say reports.

A Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to five years of probation after pleading guilty to casting a vote in the name of his deceased mother in an effort to reelect then-President Donald Trump.
Court records and Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer’s office said 70-year-old Bruce Bartman received the sentence Friday April 30 after entering a guilty plea to two counts of perjury and one count of unlawful voting.
Voter records show that Bartman used Pennsylvania’s online voter-registration portal to register both his late mother, Elizabeth Bartman, and his deceased mother-in-law, Elizabeth Weihman, who died in 2019 — illegally registering both as Republican voters, the district attorney’s office said.
Using his mother’s driver’s license number, Bartman accessed the Pennsylvania online voting portal and registered without incident due to what Stollsteimer termed a “flaw” in the system which was unable to catch the driver’s license as belonging to a dead person.
Following his sentencing, Bartman will also lose his right to vote for four years pursuant to Pennsylvania statute, the district attorney’s office said in a news release.
