‘My young wife absconded few days after we got married’ – Middle-aged man tells court

A Kubwa Grade I Area Court, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), recently ordered a 17-year-old housewife, Khadija Akarami, to return to her matrimonial home.

According to the News Agency of Ngeria (NAN), delivering judgment, the judge, Muhammad Adamu held that Khadija, in her testimony admitted to introducing her 51- year- old husband, Abubakar Aliyu, to her parents as her fiancé before they eventually got married.

Adamu, however, made his ruling based on the petition brought before him by Abubakar, adding that any party that is not satisfied can file fresh processes in court.

Earlier, Khadija’s father, Mohammed Musa told the court that his daughter stayed in her matrimonial home for three weeks before leaving.

“The day she ran away, Abubakar called me on phone to inform me and I confirmed that she travelled to her siblings in Kaduna.

“All efforts made by us to arrange a meeting with Abubakar to settle the issue failed. I was later served the court summons,” Mohammed said.

He added that his daughter was not forced into the marriage because she introduced Abubakar to him herself.

Abubakar, however said he wanted his wife back home but if she still refused, he would demand that her family pay back all he spent for their wedding.

He stated that he started courting Kadija in 2015, got married to her on June 15, 2020 and that she left home on June 20.

Kadija in response said Abubakar had sexual intercourse with her four times during her three weeks in matrimony, adding that he should also pay her back for it.

“I am no longer interested in the marriage,” she said.

Hard work makes a person successful —Enioluwa says

Enioluwa Adeoluwa, popularly known as lip gloss boy/Beauty boy, is a 21-year-old beauty influencer, content creator and a skit maker. In this interview by FAITH ADEOYE, he talks about his life as a social media influencer, career, and academics among other issues. Excerpts:

You were a First Class graduate at 19, celebrity at 21. At this age, a lot of people are still trying to figure their lives out, how were you able to achieve all these?

Okay, I know the cliché is God’s grace which I accept, that God’s grace is very important. But I need people to understand the place of hard work. There is a lot of hard work that goes into being ‘successful’.

I graduated at 19 right, but there was work that went into that, I had to consciously read my books, maybe fame may not be ‘’oh, this is what I wanted’ but then there was work because I was creating contents and releasing it. So, I will say work towards your goals because that is what brings your goals into reality. Apart from just working hard, never give up on your dreams. Sometimes, I create some videos and I say to myself, ‘this thing isn’t funny and nobody is laughing; this is the end of it’ but no, some are going to be so funny and interesting to everybody while some are not going to be. Be disciplined about it and work towards what you want to achieve regardless of what anybody is saying; they are not even going to pay your bills.

When did you start doing skits and what inspired you?

My first skit video was in November 2020, I don’t think it inspired me really, I was talking about something and posted it on my Instagram story then a friend said to me “Eni, you have to post this on your page.”

I disagreed initially because this doesn’t fit into what I do. I was doing skincare and beauty a lot that time, which I still do but I reluctantly did and it blew up, I did another, it blew up, so I said to myself, this sounds like fun, maybe we should keep doing this.

I take people’s reality and my reality and say; this is something to talk about, let’s talk about it.

How challenging is it for you to juggle influencing, the skits and face your studies at the Pan-Atlantic University?

It’s one of the hardest things I had to do in my life; it takes a lot of work. The day I was shooting my 14th series of love, I was preparing for my exams but then I knew I had to be sufficient in both ways.

That’s what I was saying about hard work because you need to work consciously and be hard working at it to achieve your results. So, I am not going to say it’s easy juggling both; hard work just makes it happen.

What are you hoping to achieve with your creative content?

I hope I can inspire people and make people smile all the time. I am hoping to create more diverse content different from this particular one. I am really looking forward to other forms of contents.

What motivates you, your act and art?

What motivates my art generally are the people, I am really excited for the fact that I can create people stories and can actually relate to it.

People say there is no challenge in this business. Do you agree? What are the challenges in this skit market?

There are lots of challenges; it is a very saturated place where there is a lot of competition and you have to work consciously to stay relevant in that space.

Would you say fame has changed you in any way?

I am more conscious about what I do, places you go now but I don’t think it has changed me, I am still the fun loving, understanding person I used to be.

But I am developing, growing older day by day, I know there’s a lot of maturity that comes with age, growth and that is what happening right now.

What range of salary or income does this digital media business gets you?

It depends on how many projects you do because some months you may not get any job while other months it’s a flock.

So, there is no specific range but you can earn at least 500,000 a month

What is that ‘crazy thing’ about you that your fans don’t know?

With the way it is, I feel like there is no crazy thing about me that people do not know because I have ‘flogged’ my whole life.

There is a musical instrument I play which people don’t really know, that is the only secret I would reveal one day.

Have you ever been faced with people who think your comedy skit is boring? How do you handle such remarks?

I have heard a lot of people say ‘your skit is so boring’ and sometimes, I release a skit and I say to myself ‘this is so boring’ but a friend just says ‘Eni put it out’ and I just put it out.

People are going to hate even if it is not something to hate on but just keep doing you. That’s hard work. Think about the time nobody was seeing what you were doing, now people are seeing it and that’s what matters. There is an obvious growth from November 2020 to April 2021.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

I see myself being a professional in the marketing space, a professional in the beauty industry. I also understand that I will continue influencing as much as I can and try as much as possible to constantly reinvent myself.

Man kills wife for denying him sex

A 38-year-old woman from Adumasa, Ghana has been allegedly killed by her husband on their cocoa farm.

The naked decomposing body of the victim, Ama Afriyie was found a day after the incident when they both failed to return from the farm.

The husband, Kwesi Poku is believed to have killed his wife and later killed himself a few meters from the crime scene.

It remains unclear the immediate motive for the act, but according to reports, the couple has had a series of bitter quarrels regarding s3x and money and this is suspected to be the reason behind her murder.

According to reports, Ama Afriyie is the breadwinner of the family; trading in farm products while her suspected killer and husband of more than 15 years is unemployed and depends largely on his wife for his upkeep.

Speaking to JoyNews’ Erastus Asare Donkor, Head of the Bretuo Clan, Nana Gyekye Amponsah disclosed that the deceased husband often complains bitterly that his wife no longer loved him and accused her of having affairs with other men.

“The man used to accuse the deceased [wife] of infidelity, an allegation she denied. His wife was the one who took care of the children, but you don’t depend on a woman for everything, shirk your responsibility and in the night you want to sleep with her as well. It is because she denied him sex that is why he killed her,” Mr Nana Gyekye Amponsah said.

Their 6 orphaned children, five boys, and a girl say they greatly miss their mother and it will never be the same with her out of the picture.

“Now we do not have anybody to correct us anymore, when mom was alive she will call all of us together and share food with us. Even when we are asleep, she will wake us up and give us food,” the children shared.

‘Yahoo Yahoo’ informants not offerred N1m — EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has said that it has not issued any notice on social media promising a financial reward for anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo Boys.

The anti-graft agency said the “clarification became necessary following phone calls by citizens wanting to cash in on notices in the social media by fraudsters promising a reward of One Million Naira (N1,000,000) for friends, family, and relatives of Yahoo Boys who hand them over to the EFCC.”

One of the notices with hashtags #EFCC and #beagoodcitizen said, “If you have a Yahoo Yahoo boy as family, friend or relative, kindly hand them over to us, and get a massive reward of 1million naira.”

The EFCC, in a statement by the Head, Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, advised the public to disregard the notices because they are alien to the Commission.

Uwujaren said, “Promoters of the hashtags are currently under surveillance and every effort will be made to bring them to justice.

“While the Commission welcomes information that could lead to the arrest of cybercrime suspects, it has no policy of financial reward for such informants.

“The fight against corruption and other forms of economic crime is a patriotic duty and Nigerians are encouraged to embrace it with altruism.

“The whistleblower policy of the Federal Government which the Commission is among the agencies saddled with its implementation is applicable only to public sector corruption.

“The public is warned that the Commission will not be responsible for anyone who falls for this obvious scam.”

The Queen’s Speech also included the reintroduction of a controversial bill to increase police powers, legally binding environmental targets, and changes to the UK’s health and social services sector.

The speech is one of the 95-year-old monarch’s most important symbolic duties and forms the centerpiece of the State Opening of Parliament ceremony.

It was her first official engagement outside of Windsor Castle since the Duke of Edinburgh died aged 99 last month.

Accompanied by her son and heir, Prince Charles, it took around 10 minutes for the Queen to read the speech from the throne in the House of Lords chamber.

The LGBTQ conversion therapy is the pseudoscientific practice of attempting to change a person’s sexuality or gender identity.

Three years ago, Boris Johnson’s predecessor, Theresa May also announced plans to end the conversion therapy but nothing came off it.

US Citizens hoarding in plastic kegs and bags as US face fuel scarcity (photos/video)

The US is currently experiencing fuel scarcity and people are already panic buying.

The fuel scarcity is due to a shutdown of the biggest U.S. fuel pipeline by hackers.

Gas stations from Florida to Virginia began running dry and prices at the pump rose on Tuesday, May 11, as the shutdown of the biggest U.S. fuel pipeline by hackers extended into a fifth day and sparked panic buying by motorists.

Some US citizens were seen buying fuel in plastic bags and kegs. Also, there were long queues at gas stations in the US.

Ashish Desai, an employee at BP station in Charlotte, North Carolina, said Tuesday was chaotic.

“We had people waiting before we even got here,” Desai said, adding that cars began lining up around 6:30 a.m.

He said a handful of pumps were shut down around 2 p.m., but eventually they were all closed and it was unclear when the next fuel delivery would be made.

“It could be tomorrow; it could be next week. I don’t know,” he told ABC News.

The FBI already confirmed a criminal gang in Russia is to blame for the pipeline outage.

Below are photos shared on Twitter and a video of a woman buying fuel in a plastic bag.

Terry Crews recounts how porn addiction almost ruined his marriage

Hollywood actor/comedian, Terry Crews, has disclosed how his addiction to porn almost cost him his marriage to Rebecca King Crews.

Speaking ahead of the release of his new audiobook, Stronger Together, which Crews co-wrote with his wife, Rebecca, the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star also opened up about being unfaithful to his wife.

Recall that in the past, Terry had disclosed that his porn addiction continued for decades, even after he got married and had children, he still managed to keep his porn habit going in secret.

During a recent question-and answer, a woman asked how his marriage survived despite all the chaos?

The America’s Got Talent host handed the microphone over to his wife, who proceeded to get up on the stage and do what Terry called: ‘a slam dunk.’

‘People were going, “Oh my God, this is what we need.”‘

Terry went on to share that ‘one perspective is not enough on something like this; two perspectives, especially a husband and wife, gives a 3-D view and really opens this thing up really, really, wide.’

Upon hearing this, Rebecca came up with the idea to do a book, but only when she was comfortable and ready.

‘I’m not one to talk about my struggles while I’m in them,’ Rebecca explained. I’m not going to Instagram you from the middle of my battle, but I will talk about it when I come to the other side.’

The Everybody Hates Chris star said his actions got so bad that his wife told him not to come home.

Devastated by the consequences of his actions, Terry experienced a turning point in his life when a good friend gave him the best piece of advice in his life.

‘He said Terry, you need to get better for you.’

He added, ‘You know, you work hard to get money. You do these things to get sex. But to actually improve just for yourself – that was foreign thought. It was like, wait a minute, I actually need to be a better person for myself.’

Terry also confessed to being influenced by those around him, amid all of his success in business and his career.

‘Success is the warmest place to hide. I had so many people telling me I was great and it was no problem. And you know what? Hollywood didn’t care. It still doesn’t care if you lose your family; it happens everyday.’

It turns out Terry’s addiction proceeded their marriage.

‘So fame just made it worse, said Rebecca. ‘And it’s really true that power and success amplifies what’s already going on inside you, and that is why I couldn’t help him. And I’m thankful and I am lucky that he made the choice to do that.’

The couple attribute Terry’s road to recovery to therapy and counseling, which he admitted was sort of a taboo growing up in Flint, Michigan.

‘I was like, “This is crazy; this is not me… and all of a sudden I realized it is me,’ he said of his acceptance of his troubles that led him to therapy.

After that he went on an apology tour, where he sat a number of people in his life down, including his kids.

‘The reason why we wrote this book was the fact that I know I can’t be alone. I can’t be the only guy who went through this,’ he said.

The couple ended by explaining that the book may not be for everybody, but for some, it just may be the perfect story to hear.

Bill Gates has been hiding at an exclusive golf club in California where he owns a mansion since the news of his divorce from wife Melinda broke out.

It costs $250,000 to join and home prices there range from a mere $2.3 million to $20 million. It has an 85,000-square-foot clubhouse at the epicenter, a host of restaurants, and a luxury spa, and two nationally-ranked 18-hole Tom Fazio-designed golf courses.

The Microsoft mogul reportedly spent $12.5 million on a massive home in the posh resort community in 1990. The 13,573-square-foot home has six bedrooms and nine bathrooms and sits along a pristinely manicured golf course.

A source exclusively told Page Six, “Bill clearly saw this divorce coming for a long time because he’s been there for around three months.”

‘It is the perfect place for Bill to hide out from anyone who wants to question him about his divorce or his alleged ties to Epstein.’

The Wall Street Journal reported that Melinda Gates consulted with divorce lawyers for roughly two years before she filed for divorce earlier this month, saying their marriage of 27 years was “irretrievably broken.”

A source of her concern was reportedly Bill’s previous dealings with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

After the initial expose of his meetings, Gates in September 2019 told The Wall Street Journal: ‘I met him. I didn’t have any business relationship or friendship with him.’

The divorce filing was signed on May 3 this year- she signed her divorce petition in Bellevue, Washington, near the family home and the foundation’s headquarters.

He signed the papers from Palm Desert, California – close to The Vintage Club.

The pair, one of the world’s richest couples, with a fortune of $130 billion, waited until their youngest child, Phoebe, turned 18 in September to formally announce the split, according to a report.

Nigerian Govt. to raise retirement age of health workers to 65

The federal government has proposed a new retirement for health workers in the country.

Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige who spoke at a meeting between the presidential committee on salaries (PSC), relevant federal government stakeholders, health sector professional associations, and trade unions on Tuesday May 11, said the federal government is proposing to increase the retirement age for doctors from 60 to 65, and 70 for health workers and consultants in the country.

According to the Minister, the proposal is aimed at improving the conditions of service of Nigerian health workers.

He said;

“We have taken their proposal. The government side will firm up its own proposal and we are reconvening June 1, so that we can have an agreed hazard allowance for health workers in Nigeria.

“We also discussed the issue of retirement age for health workers, being that we want to keep our health workers here in Nigeria.

“A lot of people are coming here to poach and take away people we have trained at very great cost.

“It takes a lot of funds to train a medical doctor, nurse or even a laboratory technologist or physiotherapist. So, we want to retain them here.

“We are making progress. The health workers are happy and we, in the government side are happy also. We need them to keep our health system alive.

“Nobody in government is opposed to the proposal. It is a proposal that is realistic. It is a proposal that we all agreed to last year when COVID-19 erupted.

“Remember that we were even calling back people who are retired. We delayed retirement age by six months for health workers so that we can fight COVID-19 pandemic.

“The pandemic is not yet over. Who knows what will happen tomorrow. We are not praying for any other pandemic but we have to be battle ready at all times, health-wise.”

Mugade died in Singapore in September 2019. However after a protracted wrangle between his family and the government, he was finally buried at his home village in Kutama, Zvimba in Mashonaland West.

Robert Mugabe

The government had wanted to bury Mugabe at the National Heroes Acre in Harare, but his family turned down the offer, arguing that Mugabe had made it explicitly clear that he did not wish to be interred at the national shrine. Jennifer Lopez and her Boo, Ben Affleck reunite as they go on vacation together

Seventeen years after calling off their engagement, Jennifer Lopez, 51, and Ben Affleck, 48, are said to have reunited and even went on vacation together.

Jennifer Lopez, who recently split from fiance Alex Rodriguez, is believed to be back with her ex-fiance Ben Affleck.

The pair appeared separately at the VAX LIVE concert in Los Angeles on Sunday, May 2, after which they jetted off together to the Yellowstone Club in Montana, where they vacationed together for about a week, a source tells E! News.

“They were alone,” says the source. “Just the two of them.”

The news comes about a month after Jennifer and Alex Rodriguez confirmed they split after four years together. Days later, she and A-Rod reunited briefly in Los Angeles in late April and a source told E! News that he wanted to “work things out” with her.

However, Ben was then spotted at her home in the city. At the time, another source said they were “just friends.” But the pair soon realized their chemistry cannot be denied.

During Jennifer and Ben’s week-long trip to Big Sky Resort in Montana, the former couple was seen “driving around together,” with Ben behind the wheel and J.Lo “riding shotgun.”

The two supposedly flew out of Montana on Sunday, and TMZ reports that once the two touched down in LAX, they “took an SUV together and drove to [Jennifer’s] house in Bel-Air.”

This trip was also reported by PEOPLE, who claimed that they spent “several days [together] out of town.”

Wendy Williams splits with her boyfriend Mike just after three months of dating

Talk show host, Wendy Williams and her boyfriend Mike Esterman have parted ways after just three months of dating.

Esterman, a Maryland-based contractor, told Page Six the couple broke up due to his schedule.

“She deserves to be with someone who may have more time,” Esterman told the outlet on Monday (May 10). Earlier, The Sun had reported that the couple had “drifted apart.”

Wendy Williams

He added that they were “never an item after 3 dates.”

“I had placed all work-related tasks aside to get to know her on a personal level, no angles or hidden agendas,” Esterman continued. “I can only wish her the best as we both continue the search at our own paces and remain friends in the process. I have enjoyed our times together and felt great to be able to make her laugh.”

Wendy, 56, first met the real estate executive back in February during her show’s Date Wendy segment.

After their first date in March, Williams gushed over him on her show, telling her audience, “I like him. I really really like Mike. We’re [close]. We didn’t have the sex, but we’re close. Based on the virus you don’t get close to people, but I couldn’t resist.”

She said Mike reminded her of a Sex and the City character – Charlotte’s husband, Harry Goldenblatt.

“He’s so nice. He’s such a gentleman. He’s so respectful,” she added. “I really like him.”

Wendy Williams was previously married to Kevin Hunter Sr. for 21 years. The couple parted their ways and divorced in 2019 after he fathered a child with his mistress.

Tyson Fury Vs Anthony Joshua mega fight date and venue fixed

The date and venue of the mouthwatering heavyweight fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury has been revealed.

Speaking to Sky Sports on Tuesday, May 11, Anthony Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn announced that the fight will take place in Saudi Arabia on August 7 or 14.

The British superstars will clash for all four heavyweight belts in the Middle East in a fight the world craves.

Hearn also stated that both Joshua and Fury were happy to trust the Saudis because they already ‘delivered on every one of their promises’ for Joshua’s fight against Andy Ruiz in 2019.

“August 7, August 14,” Hearn said on Sky Sports when asked about a date for Joshua-Fury. “It’s a very bad secret that the fight is happening in Saudi Arabia. I don’t mind giving that information, Bob Arum’s already done it.

“It’s the same people we did the deal with for Andy Ruiz, that event was spectacular. As partners, they were fantastic as well, so we’re very comfortable.

Tyson Fury Vs Anthony Joshua

“We’re very comfortable. Anthony’s comfortable, he knows those people. They delivered on every one of their promises last time, we’re ready to go.”

Hearn added he’ll prefer the 14th because the Olympics would have ended 7 days earlier.

“In terms of a global spectacle, it would make sense to go on the 14th,” Hearn added. “That’s one of the other things to tick off, hopefully, in the next few days.”

Hearn added: “There’s no reason why it shouldn’t happen this week. This is kind of like the moment where you could actually turn around at this point and say ‘this is dragging on too long, or I can’t be dealing with this anymore’.

“But we have to nail this, and I’m not going to stop until I nail it, and everyone has just got to move forward collectively. It is inevitable, but at the same time, we’ve got to close the door on

it.”

Tyson Fury Vs Anthony Joshua

The August clash will be the first in a two-fight deal, with the second bout expected to take place at the end of 2021.

It has also been reported that the fight could generate as much as £500million, with Joshua and Fury agreeing a 50/50 split.

Fury is unbeaten in 31 professional fights, with his only blemish coming in a controversial draw against Deontay Wilder in 2018, a clash many felt he won.

Meanwhile, Joshua has a record of 24-1, with his only defeat coming at the hands of Andy Ruiz in 2019.

Nigerian Southern Governors ban open grazing due to insecurity

The governors of the seventeen Southern states met in Delt state today May 11 where they banned open grazing and called on President Buhari to address Nigerians on the challenges of insecurity.

Southern Governors

In a 12-point communique read by its Chairman, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, the governors said the president should be fairer in political appointments, convoke a national dialogue, and accept the establishment of state police.

Southern Governors

“Southern Governors expressed very grave concern on the security challenges currently plaguing the nation and strongly urged that Mr. President should address Nigerians on the challenges of insecurity and restore the confidence of our people.

We observed that the incursion of armed herders, criminals, and bandits into the Southern part of the country has presented a severe security challenge such that citizens are not able to live their normal lives including pursuing various productive activities leading to a threat to food supply and general security.

Consequently, the meeting resolved that open grazing of cattle be banned across Southern Nigeria.

Agreed that the progress of the nation requires that urgent and bold steps be taken to restructure the Nigerian Federation leading to the evolution of state police, review of revenue allocation formula in favour of the sub-national governments and creation of other institutions which legitimately advance our commitment to and practice of true federalism.

In view of widespread agitations among our various peoples for greater inclusiveness in existing governance arrangements, the Federal Government should convoke a national dialogue as a matter of urgency.”

The Southern Governors expressed concern on the economic implications of another lockdown on the country and therefore suggested greater coordination and cooperation between Federal and State Governments in evolving strategies for dealing with the pandemic.

Southern Governors

Fifteen governors were in attendance at the meeting.

Below is the full text of the communique.

At its meeting held today, 11th May, 2021, the Southern Governors Forum reviewed the situation in the nation generally and focused on the current security situation, agitations/restructuring, prospect for inter-state collaboration and partnerships as well as on the incidence of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Rising from the meeting, the Forum:

  • affirmed that the peoples of Southern Nigeria remain committed to the unity of Nigeria on the basis of justice, fairness, equity and oneness and peaceful co-existence between and among its peoples with a focus on the attainment of shared goals for economic development and prosperity;
  • observed that the incursion of armed herders, criminals and bandits into the Southern part of the country has presented a severe security challenge such that citizens are not able to live their normal lives including pursuing various productive activities leading to a threat to food supply and general security. Consequently, the meeting resolved that open grazing of cattle be banned across Southern Nigeria;
  • noted that development and population growth has put pressure on available land and increased the prospects of conflict between migrating herders and local populations in the South. Given this scenario, it becomes imperative to enforce the ban on open grazing in the South (including cattle movement to the South by foot);
  • recommended that the Federal Government should support WILLING States to develop alternative and modern livestock management systems;
  • agreed that the progress of the nation requires that urgent and bold steps be taken to restructure the Nigerian Federation leading to the evolution of state police, review of revenue allocation formula in favour of the sub-national governments and creation of other institutions which legitimately advance our commitment to and practice of true federalism;
  • recommended that in view of widespread agitations among our various peoples for greater inclusiveness in existing governance arrangements, the Federal Government should convoke a national dialogue as a matter of urgency;
  • recommended that in deference to the sensitivities of our various peoples, there is need to review appointments into Federal Government Agencies (including Security Agencies) to reflect federal character as Nigeria’s overall population is heterogenous;
  • resolved to foster cooperation among the Southern States and the nation at large;
  • expressed concern on the continued gridlock on the Oshodi – Apapa Expressway and the chokehold it has exerted on the nation’s economy being the sole outlet from Apapa Wharf. The meeting therefore recommended the activation and establishment of ports in other States of the federation to create new jobs and promote socio-economic activities in the country;
  • the meeting expressed concern on the economic implications of another lockdown on the country, and therefore suggested greater coordination and cooperation between Federal and State Governments in evolving strategies for dealing with the pandemic;
  • expressed very grave concern on the security challenge currently plaguing the nation and strongly urged that Mr. President should address Nigerians on the challenges of insecurity and restore the confidence of our people; and
  • expressed gratitude to our host, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his generosity and hospitality.

Cristiano Ronaldo gets himself a £1.4m customized supercar (photo)

Cristiano Ronaldo skipped training with his Juventus mates to visit Ferrari’s factory in Maranello and then treated himself to a £1.4m Ferrari super car according to reports.

Ronaldo, 36, decided to give himself Monday off just a day after the crushing 3-0 defeat against AC Milan that leaves their Champions League dreams in tatters as they sit in fifth spot with just three games to go.

And instead of taking part in a recovery session ahead of Wednesday’s away trip to Sassuolo, Ronaldo showed up at Maranello home of Ferrari’s F1 headquarters in Italy.

He was accompanied by club chairman Andrea Agnelli and the 45-year-old’s cousin John Elkann, who is the CEO of Exor and Ferrari.

Whilst at Ferrari’s HQ, Ronaldo posed for a photo with F1 drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, who were given signed Juve shirts.

And according to a report by Corriere della Serra, Ronaldo bought for himself a Ferrari Monza worth £1.4million.

Manchester City won the 2020/2021 Premier League Title

Manchester City are champions of England once again after Man United lost at home 1-2 to Leicester city on Tuesday night, May 11.

City would have won the title over the weekend but lost 2-1 at home to Chelsea.

With three matches to spare Leicester City’s Caglar Soyuncu headed home Leicester’s 66th-minute winner at Old Trafford meaning United cannot mathematically catch up with Manchester City

In the last decade, City have now won the premier league five times.

It caps a remarkable month for the club who booked their spot in their first ever Champions League final on May 29 after knocking out Paris Saint-Germain.

This is Guardiola’s ninth league title in his managerial career having won three with Barcelona, three with Bayern and three with Man City.

Fulham leaves the Championship after losing to Burnley

Fulham have been relegated from the Premier League after 2 – 0 defeat to Burnley on Monday night, May 10.

All the relegation spots have now been confirmed, with the Cottagers joining Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion as the three clubs to drop into the Championship.

Fulham conceded two goals in the final 10 minutes of the first half at Craven Cottage after Ashley Westwood and Chris Wood found the net, leaving Scott Parker’s side 10 points from safety with three games remaining.

“At this moment in time I have nothing but sadness. Now and in the coming days we will have a long hard think and regroup. My job is to make sure these games end in the right way, Scott Parker told BBC Sport.

“The club needs to make big decisions. We’ve had a relegation, a promotion, and a relegation. The rollercoaster of that and the highs and lows is not something you want.

“As a football club, we need to make good decisions and work out where we want to go.”

Probably. If someone has not watched us this year and watched that game it has summed us up. Very good at times between the boxes but fallen short at both ends.

We didn’t start the season too well. Four or five games passed, a brand new team that brings its challenges and putting a team together that understands.

The most important. The decisions we make now as a football club are going to be pivotal. Next year is going to be another new squad. We need to get around a table and understand where we want to go as a club.

It’s not going to be an easy job to bounce back into this division with so many loans.

Most Premier League appearances was probably Loftus-Cheek. Young in age and nouse in this division. We’ve fallen short in key moments at this level and that’s where we need to work.

Burnley, who will play Premier League football for the sixth successive season, climb to 14th in the table.

Kano: NAPTIP Agency saves about 52 victims, arrests human traffickers

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued 52 victims and arrested four suspected human traffickers in Kano.

The Director General of the agency, Mrs Imaan Sulaiman- Ibrahim, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, May 10, in Kano, said that 48 of the rescued victims were females while four were males, aged between 16 and 34.

Sulaiman-Ibrahim added that out of the four suspected traffickers, three were males and one female.

The DG, who was represented by NAPTIP Kano Zonal Commander, Mr Abdullahi Babale, described human trafficking was a modern day slavery, which involved the exploitation of victims.

“The agency received intelligence report that the victims are on transit from Delta, Imo, Edo, Ogun, Oyo and Ondo States enroute to Europe via Libya. On receiving the information, a special operation was coordinated in Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States to rescue the victims as the suspects were arrested by NAPTIP/Joint Border Task Force officers,” she stated.

Sulaiman-Ibrahim reiterated the agency’s commitment to fighting human trafficking and the rehabilitation and empowerment of survivors.

She also pledged that the agency would make it difficult for human traffickers and their agents to succeed in their evil operations.

The DG commended the Nigerian Diaspora Commission and the security agencies, especially the Nigeria Immigration Service, for their support to NAPTIP.

Israel is on the brink of “full scale war,” – UN warns

Israel is on the brink of “full scale war,” the UN has warned, after escalating violence in the region claimed at least 35 lives.

Israel is on the brink of "full scale war," - UN warns

Israel has deployed 80 fighter jets, tankers and foot soldiers to its Gaza border after Hamas fired around 130 rockets at targets in Israel on Tuesday May 11, following the destruction of a tower block in Gaza in an Israeli air strike.

??Israel at war

Israel has also declared a state of Emergency in the city of Lod as three synagogues, numerous shops and dozens of cars were set alight as Israelis and Palestinians clashed following bomb attacks from Hamas.

??Israel at war

Throughout Tuesday May 11, continuous bombing by Israeli jets occurred in different parts of Gaza. Gaza’s police headquarters was also destroyed by air strikes from Israel, in what appeared to be some of the most intense fight between Israel and Hamas since their 2014 war.

??Israel at war

As at Wednesday morning, the death toll in Gaza rose to 35 Palestinians, including 10 children, according to the Health Ministry, which said more than 200 people were wounded.

??Israel at war

The United Nations Middle East peace envoy also took to Twitter on Tuesday night to warn that the conflict between Israel and Hamas is escalating to the risk of an all out war.

Tor Wennesland, United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, posted: “Stop the fire immediately. We’re escalating towards a full scale war.

“Leaders on all sides have to take the responsibility of deescalation. The cost of war in Gaza is devastating & is being paid by ordinary people. UN is working w/ all sides to restore calm. Stop the violence now”

And Monday Hamas fired bombs into Israel, leading Israel to unleash airstrikes on Gaza Tuesday morning, smashing the tower block of a Hamas field commander and two border tunnels.

On Israel’s side, five citizens including three women and a child, were killed by rocket fire on Tuesday and early on Wednesday, while dozens of others were injured.

In a nationally televised speech late on Tuesday, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Hamas and Islamic Jihad “have paid, and will pay, a heavy price”, adding: “This campaign will take time, with determination, unity and strength.”

As the unrest spreads, hundreds of residents of Arab communities across Israel staged demonstrations denouncing the recent actions of Israeli security forces against Palestinians in one of the largest protests by Palestinian citizens in Israel in recent years.

Egyptian officials said they were trying to negotiate a ceasefire while the UK government has said the violence between Israel and Hamas is “very concerning.”

Iyad al-Bozum, a spokesman for the Hamas-run Interior Ministry, said the police compound with several buildings was blown up by rockets unleashed by Israel as dawn broke on Wednesday.

In the West Bank, meanwhile, a 26-year-old Palestinian was killed during clashes with Israeli troops that entered al-Fawar refugee camp in southern Hebron, Palestine’s health ministry said.

The UN Security Council planned to hold its second closed emergency meeting in three days on Wednesday on the escalating violence, an indication of growing international concern.

Back in the summer of 2014, Israel and Hamas engaged in a 50 day war that reportedly killed over 2000 Palestinians and rendered hundreds of thousands homeless.

Can I have s3x during pregnancy? Answers

For some time now, countless mails have rolled into my inbox wanting to know the place of sex during pregnancy. For many wives pregnancy has spiked their interest in sex. On the other hand, sex is the last thing on the mind of many others during this period. Here is what you need to know about sex during pregnancy.

As long as your pregnancy is proceeding normally, you can have sex as often as you like. But most wives may not always want to. This is because at first, the hormonal fluctuations, fatigue and nausea may sap their sexual desire.

During the second trimester, increased blood flow to your sexual organs and breasts may rekindle your desire for sex. However, by the third trimester, weight gain, back pain and other symptoms may once again dampen your passion for sex.

Many wives who have waited for long before getting pregnant are always apprehensive of the unknown. They want to know if sex during pregnancy causes a miscarriage – especially in the first trimester.

Early miscarriages are usually not associated with sex, but with chromosomal abnormalities or other problems in the developing baby.

Sex during pregnancy does not harm the baby either. This is because the developing baby is protected by the amniotic fluid in the uterus, as well as the mucous plug that blocks the cervix throughout most of the pregnancy. Sexual activity will not affect your baby.

A wife once asked me ‘what are the best sexual positions during pregnancy? In reality, as long as you are comfortable, most sexual positions are okay during pregnancy.

As your pregnancy progresses, you and your husband can experiment to find what works best. Rather than lying on your back, you might want to lie next to your man sideways or position yourself on top of him or in front of him.

Let your creativity take over, as long as you keep mutual pleasure and comfort in mind. I have written a book titled “Sexual intimacy in marriage.” A few of the chapters there are dedicated to sex in pregnancy. I would advise you get a copy of the book from any leading Nigeria bookshop.

Another married young mother asked me recently ‘what about oral sex? Contrary to ‘old women fables’ oral sex is safe during pregnancy. There is a warning though, if you receive oral sex, make sure your husband does not blow air into your vagina. Though, this rarely happens, but a burst of air may block a blood vessel (air embolism) which could be a life-threatening condition for you and the baby.

One reader asked if condoms are necessary. Frankly, undue exposure to sexually transmitted infections during pregnancy increases risks that can affect your pregnancy and your baby’s health. You may use a condom if your husband has a sexually transmitted infection history.

Many want to know if orgasms can trigger premature labour. Yes, sometimes orgasms can cause uterine contractions, but these are different from the contractions you will feel during labour. If you have a normal pregnancy, orgasms during intercourse don’t increase the risk of premature labour or premature birth. Likewise, sex is not likely to trigger labour even as your expected date of delivery or due date approaches. Sometimes sex prior to delivery hastens labour but you still have to be moderate in all you do.

Are there times when sex should be avoided, a nursing mother who has been sexually active shortly after delivery asked? Although most women can safely have sex throughout pregnancy, sometimes it is best to be careful.

Sex could be avoided when you are at risk of preterm labour, or you have unexplained vaginal bleeding, or you are leaking amniotic fluid, or your cervix begins to open prematurely (cervical incontinence) and when your placenta partly or completely covers your cervical opening (placenta previa). If you fall into any of these categories, please stay off sex.

Some wives asked me ‘what if I do not want to have sex’. This is a decision you may not be able to take alone, because if you send your husband on a compulsory nine-month sabbatical ‘leave’ he may decide to look for alternatives elsewhere. So wise up and compromise where needed. But if sex is difficult, unappealing or off-limits, try cuddling, kissing or massage.

After the baby is born, how soon can I have sex? Whether you give birth vaginally or by C-section, your body will need time to heal. Many gynaecologists recommend waiting four days after normal vaginal delivery and four weeks before resuming intercourse if you had a C-section. This allows time for your cervix to close and any tears or a repaired episiotomy to heal.

If you are too sore or exhausted to even think about sex, you can still maintain intimacy in other ways. Stay connected during the day with romantic text messages or erotic emails. Reserve a few quiet minutes for each other before the day begins and before the day ends. When you are ready to have sex, take it tenderly and use a reliable method of contraception if you want to prevent a subsequent pregnancy.

QUESTION ONE

My husband feels children need their parents in the formative years of their lives. He believes parental influence is the best teacher and I also agree with him. But my dilemma is that I make the sacrifices by staying at home while he goes to work. However, the more I stay home the more extra calories I add, even when I starve myself of food. Are there practical ways I can keep in shape without the rigours of gym?

Many times wives love to keep in shape and lose some of the unnecessary calories. However, finding a way round it has been the major challenge. Here are some ways any nursing mother, homemaker or professional can with ease loss calories at home, in the office or in the market place without much stress.

For instance, while doing laundry you can do rope jumping just for two-minute intervals and repeating this four times daily you are losing 111 calories.

In addition, while food is being prepared, you can run up and down the stairs of your apartment building. This is easier if you live in a storey-building and if not find a way round your home; this makes you loss 42 calories effortlessly at a go.

Whilst the baby is sleeping, you can stand in front of your living room couch, squat until your buttocks is just above the seat cushions, and hold that position for one minute when this is repeated regularly for four times at a go, naturally 80 calories are shed off your weight.

While breastfeeding the baby you can just lie down on the floor on your side and lift one of your legs up for five minutes, while the baby is feeding on the breast of that side. Then change position to the other side and lift your other leg for another five minutes – this is called leg lift. By so doing you have lose 50 calories just like that. This can be done in the office or room.

Nursing mothers are adviced to take time out for few minutes rest. While trying to take a nap you can do arm circles for one minute and repeat two more times. Amazingly you have just dropped 20 calories. Any woman can do this arm circle and it is recommended for every married woman because the upper arm is one area fat deposits gather easily.

When you feel like urinating walk quickly to the toilet or bathroom instead of strolling, and then stay longer over the toilet seat while you ease yourself, and practise your Kegel exercise more than once. When you have finished, walk fast back to wherever you were instead of leisurely strolling back, and you may just shed 30 calories.

For your triceps muscle take two cans of salad, and put your hands behind your head, with your elbows at your ears and lift the weight up and down. Do one minute each of lifting, without effort 17 calories find their way out.

Walking has proven to be the best workout with result; take a brief one every evening.

QUESTION TWO

My wife is a tyrant in bed. Every now and then, she terrorises me. She is like a sergeant major barking orders all the time. I try to please her but she is so demanding it is demoralizing. Why can’t she let me take control at least for once? Please do not ask if she is older. I am far older than her, but I don’t want to tell her this because it will look like I am not a man enough to satisfy her sexual desires.

The fear of how your wife will react will eventually ruin your sex life. Tell her your feelings in a loving manner, she will understand. Besides, sex is a power game and if you want to play well, you have to be prepared to take a compromising risk. On the other hand, she may be assertive and not bossy. Some wives want confident, assertive husbands who are not afraid to take control. Decide to play the game your way for once, and let her know by being firm and clear with your instructions that you are in charge this time. You will be amazed she will love it. Go on try it and give me a feedback.

QUESTION THREE

I have been married for eight years now, but my husband lived in the United States. He bought me a vibrator to use whenever I feel like having sex with his picture in view. I’ve been using the vibrator close to five years and I’m worried that I’ve numbed my clitoris because I don’t feel any sensation whenever he comes home and touches me. My best friend’s husband also lives abroad but she says she never uses a vibrator because she had heard it ruins the vulva area. Is that true?

Frankly speaking, nothing gives enduring, durable, lasting and long-term satisfaction as the natural thing. Even if you only enjoy your man for few times I think it is still better than the damage vibrator does to your clitoris. Try to occupy yourself with some worthwhile project whenever you have the urge for sex. You can take your children to lesson classes or something that will add value to your life.

Edinson Cavani signs a year contract extension with Manchester United

Edinson Cavani has signed a one-year extension with Manchester United, following talks with the club.

The Uruguayan striker, 34, signed until the summer of 2022 after turning down an offer from Boca Juniors in order to spend one more season in elite European football.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the new deal on Twitter, writing: “Edinson Cavani has signed his contract extension with Manchester United, here we go!

“The agreement has been completed, Cavani has accepted to stay after Man Utd board and Solskjaer were pushing to keep him.

“Confirmed and done deal.”

This comes after manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and fans’ pleaded with him to stay at Old Trafford for another year after his impressive performances for the club.

Manchester United is expected to announce the new deal for the striker ahead of their match with Leicester City on Tuesday evening.

Earlier in the campaign, Solskjaer told fans the club was in talks with Cavani, outlining: ‘we’re speaking to Eddy.

‘Edinson is a top striker and whatever he decides to do, let’s see. We’re in good dialogue with him.’

The United boss told reporters: ‘Edinson is not 100% decided on his future yet.

‘He’s not told me he wants to leave but I am very aware he might be going back home to South America. If that’s his decision, I will understand that.’

Cavani joined Manchester United on a free transfer from French giants Paris Saint-Germain in October 2020, reportedly taking a 35 percent pay cut to move to Old Trafford but netting a signing-on fee in the region of £6million.

The PM’s official spokesman said on Monday that “The Prime Minister transparently declared the benefit in kind in the Commons register of interests.”

Asked if the Government believes that the public thinks the rules matter, the spokesman said: “Clearly the rules are set out and it’s important that everyone abides by them, as the Prime Minister has done throughout.”

According to reports, there was confusion when the PM declared the holiday in the register of MPs’ interests last year.

In the entry, Mr. Johnson said he had accepted “accommodation for a private holiday for my partner and me, value £15,000”, citing Tory donor David Ross as the provider.

But a spokesman for Mr. Ross, co-founder of Carphone Warehouse, denied he had paid for it.

Mr. Ross has since sought to further clarify matters, agreeing it was a “benefit in kind” to the PM and Ms. Symonds during their private break.

A spokesman for Mr. Ross reiterated his position on Monday, saying: “Mr. Ross facilitated accommodation for Mr. Johnson on Mustique valued at £15,000.

“Therefore this is a benefit in kind from Mr. Ross to Mr. Johnson, and Mr. Johnson’s declaration to the House of Commons is correct.”

Reacting to the news, Labour deputy leader Angela Rayner said: “Another day, another investigation into Boris Johnson for more sleaze and dodgy dealings.

“The public have a right to know who paid for Boris Johnson’s luxury Caribbean holiday and the renovation of his flat.

“Most importantly, we need to know what these donors were promised or expected in return for their generosity.

“As we have seen over the last year, Tory donors have received a very high return on their investment in the form of government contracts.

“Boris Johnson needs to stop using the office of prime minister as an opportunity to fund his lavish lifestyle and enrich his mates.”

Mark Evans, Adele’s Dad, dies aged 57 years

Grammy Award winning singer, Adele’s father has died at 57 after years of disputes and public rows.

Adele, 33, has previously spoken of her fractured relationship with dad, Mark Evans, who had been suffering from cancer.

Mark walked out on Adele’s mother Penny when Adele was three and returned to his native Wales.

In 2017 Adele infamously told the audience during her Grammys speech;

“Thank you to my manager because the comeback, as it were, was completely masterminded by him.

“And you executed it incredibly, and I owe you everything.

“We’ve been together for ten years, and I love you like you’re my dad. I love you so, so much.

“I don’t love my dad, that’s the thing. That doesn’t mean a lot. I love you like I would love my dad.”

Mark once claimed that he and his daughter had made up and shared a drink around the time of her Adele Live tour to support her second album 21. But she later denied this.

A source said: “Mark’s family are of course very upset by his passing. He always hoped things would work out with Adele, but it remained acrimonious to the end.

“He made a few attempts to make things right, but clearly it had been too long.”

In 2013 he revealed he was battling bowel cancer and feared he would never meet his grandson, Angelo — Adele’s son with charity entrepreneur Simon Konecki, who she divorced in March.

Juventus may be expulsed from Serie A if they don’t leave the Super League

Italian soccer federation president, Gabriele Gravina has said Juventus faces expulsion from the country’s top league if they do not withdraw from the European Super League.

While AC Milan and Inter Milan have already pulled out of the controversial bid to form a breakaway competition, Juventus remains the only Italian club still pushing for the move.

‘The rules are clear. If Juventus is still part of the Super League when it enters next season, it can’t participate in Serie A,’ Gravina told Naples radio station Kiss Kiss.

‘I would be sorry for the fans but rules are rules and they apply to everyone.’

Real Madrid and Barcelona are also still holding onto the project, despite the risk of being banned from the Champions League.

‘I hope this holdout ends soon,’ Gravina added.

Three weeks ago six English clubs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Tottenham backed out within 48 hours of the project’s announcement after a backlash from fans football pundit.

The comments from Gravina follow a joint statement from Juventus, Barcelona, and Real Madrid over the weekend, slamming ‘unacceptable pressures, threats and offences’ to scrap the Super League project, turning on the nine clubs that have signed a deal with UEFA.

‘The founding clubs have suffered, and continue to suffer, unacceptable third-party pressures, threats, and offences to abandon the project and therefore desist from their right and duty to provide solutions to the football ecosystem via concrete proposals and constructive dialogue,’ the statement read.

‘This is intolerable under the rule of law and Tribunals have already ruled in favour of the Super League proposal, ordering FIFA and UEFA to, either directly or through their affiliated bodies, refrain from taking any action which may hinder this initiative in any way while court proceedings are pending.’

China: South African Student falls from 13th floor to her death

A 24-year-old South African student, Kgothatso Mdunana, has fallen to her death under mysterious circumstances in China.

It was gathered that she died last Friday, May 7, after apparently falling out of the window of a friend’s flat on the 13th floor in Hangzhou.

Mdunana was studying civil engineering at Shandong University and was due to complete her studies in just under two months’ time.

Kgothatso Mdunana

An investigation is now under way in the East Asian country while the International Relations Department is helping to facilitate the return of her remains

The last time Kgothatso’s family saw her was three years ago, but they were in constant communication and spoke was last week – two days before her mysterious death.

Speaking to Eyewitness News, her heartbroken parents said they received the tragic news through a chilling message from her roommate identified simply as Princess – accompanied by a 4-second video showing their daughter’s lifeless body.

“The video just surfaced from someone knowing this friend that she went to visit. I asked Princess to say can you give this person my number to call me because I want to speak to him or her. Then she said I don’t have the number. It’s very difficult, I can’t sleep. I sleep with tablets.” said the deceased’s mother, Pfarelo Mphamphul.

Kgothatso Mdunana

Kgothatso’s father, Pfarelo Mphamphuli, said the family has been told that she travelled 15 hours from Shandong by train to Hangzhou province to meet up with a friend who none of them knew.

“No one knew about this trip. All we know is that the police took this person in for questioning. No other information why they are questioning him or her about. All they said is this was an accident,” said Mphamphuli.

He said some of Kgothatso’s friends had offered to travel to Hangzhou to help fill in the missing pieces.

“They said it was an accident and we must just take it like that. The embassy said they will be getting a report from the Chinese authorities.”

Kgothatso’s family described her as bubbly, ambitious and with big dreams. She matriculated from St Stithians College in 2014 and her parents said she was just about to submit her final assignment to graduate as a civil engineer in July.

Kgothatso planned to kickstart her career in the UK. Her father said she had an opportunity to come back home at the expense of the South African government when other citizens did so at the start of the outbreak of COVID-19 in China. But Kgothatso opted to stay in China and took up teaching English.

Now that she’s passed away, it’s become harder to transport her mortal remains because her family cannot afford the cost of almost R300,000.

They have started an online fundraising campaign while the International Relations Department, through its consulate in Shanghai, is assisting by facilitating the repatriation.

“In our culture we are supposed to also collect her spirit. So I need to go exactly where she was,” said her mother.

Mphamphuli said he took comfort in the last conversation he had with his daughter two days before she died.

“I just sent a text. Said I love you too. That was the last message.” he added.

Kgothatso Mdunana

Meanwhile, the fundraising effort to bring back the body has succeeded, with more than R500,000 raised in less than four days, far exceeding the R350,000 target.

Australia: A schoolboy has been crushed to death by a rubbish truck after he and two friends fell asleep in an industrial bin

A 13-year-old schoolboy has been crushed to death by a rubbish truck after he and two friends fell asleep in an industrial bin in Australia.

The boy slept off in the bin with two other boys aged 11 and 12.

The 11-year-old boy suffered serious injuries when the truck began emptying the industrial bin while the third boy, 12, managed to escape unharmed and alerted the driver.

The tragedy happened at 5.20am local time on Tuesday, May 11, in Port Lincoln on South Australia’s west coast.

Superintendent Paul Bahr told reporters that the surviving boys are “traumatised” and that it will take time to get a detailed version of events from them.

He said detectives will be investigating as to why the children were sleeping in the bin but claimed they were not homeless, adding: “Just one of the levels of tragedy to this is why these three children thought they needed to be sleeping in the bin.

“I think it’s fair to say the boys had somewhere to stay. I don’t think it would be fair to classify them as homeless.”

The truck driver did not realise the children, who are from Port Lincoln, were in the bin at the time and was said to be “extremely shaken by the incident”.

Port Lincoln Mayor Brad Flaherty described the accident as a tragedy. He said: “It’s a terrible, terrible incident that will have an awful impact on the community as a whole and the families involved.

“Our heartfelt thoughts are with the families and community members affected.”

Staff and students at the local school the boy attended have been offered counselling in the wake of his death.

A spokesperson for Veolia Waste Management, the truck driver’s company, offered condolences to the boy’s loved ones.

“While we are unable to comment further on the circumstances at present, we are working closely with the emergency services and a full investigation into the incident is underway,” they said.

Wow! Conjoined twins successfully separated in South Africa (photos)

A set of conjoined twins have been successfully separated during a sensitive operation at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital (RCWMCR) in Cape Town, South Africa.

The RCWMCR said on Tuesday, May 11, that the twins were brought to the hospital in February when they were only four days old.

Conjoined twins

The elated 31-year-old mother, Ntombikayise Tyhalisi, said after the unique operation that she could not believe that she would be able to hold Siphosethu and Amahle in separate arms after their birth.

“I am overjoyed! I wasn’t expecting to leave here holding my children one in each arm,” she said.

Conjoined twins

The head of Paediatric Neurosurgery at the hospital, Professor Tony Figaji said the babies were joined at the head in what is referred to as craniopagus twinning, the rarest form of conjoined twinning.

“Craniopagus twins occur approximately once in every 2.5 million live births worldwide. We were fortunate in this case that the connection did not involve any shared brain tissue and didn’t involve major [blood] vessels going from one twin to the other,” Figaji added.

Meanwhile, Plastic Surgery Head, Professor Saleigh Adams, told the department that the teams were prepared for a marathon surgery.

“We were prepared for a six-hour, at least, surgery. On this occasion, the surgery lasted all of one and a half hours. This is a huge plus for the recovery of the twins.” he said.

The hospital’s focus now turns to ensure the healthy healing of the surgical areas.

“Both patients and mom are doing well following the surgery and continue to receive follow-up care.”

Nwakali made the disclosure while interacting with newsmen in Owerri on Monday May 10.

“Some agents of foreign countries have approached Kelechi for a switch of allegiance so he would play for their national teams.

“Well, I cannot confirm if he has given it a consideration because I know his wish to play for the Super Eagles. He is still studying the proposals and has yet to take a decision.

Israel military strikes hard in Gaza, 24 Palestians killed, including children (photos)

At least 24 Palestinians including nine children were killed on Tuesday morning by Israeli warplane strikes, in Gaza after Hamas fired rockets at Israel in response to clashes in Jerusalem this week.

Israel

Over the weekend, confrontations erupted at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in east Jerusalem, which was captured and annexed by Israel in the 1967 Mideast war.

The compound, located in Jerusalem’s Old City, is the third holiest site of Islam and the holiest site of Judaism.

Islamist terror group, Hamas issued an ultimatum to Israel to withdraw security forces from the Mosque and Muslim areas of the Old City.

And on Monday Hamas fired bombs into Israel, leading Israel ro unleash airstrikes on Gaza Tuesday morning, smashing the tower block of a Hamas field commander and two border tunnels.

Israel
Israel

Israel says that at least 15 of the dead were militants, adding that six Israeli civilians had been wounded after Hamas fired more than 200 rockets.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has now warned that the fighting could ‘continue for some time,’ claiming that Hamas had ‘crossed a red line’ by launching rockets at Israel.

Christians revere Jerusalem as the place where they believe that Jesus preached, died and was resurrected while the Palestinians want the eastern section of Jerusalem as a capital of a future state.

Israel sees all of Jerusalem as its eternal and indivisible capital and till this day Israel’s annexation of East Jerusalem is unrecognized internationally.

Nedved speaking to Striscia La Notizia, said: “Pirlo and Ronaldo will stay at Juventus.”

Seven students and their teacher killed in Russian school shooting

A shooting at a high school in the central Russian city of Kazan on Tuesday May 11, has left 7 students mostly children and a teacher dead.

The attack happened 820km (510 miles) east of Moscow, in the mainly Muslim republic of Tatarstan.

Rustam Minnikhanov, Governor of Tatarstan republic where Kazan is the capital, said that four male and three female eighth-grade students died in the shooting. Minnikhanov’s press service later added that a teacher was also killed.

More than 20 others, mostly children were reportedly wounded. A 19-year-old suspect was detained. Minnikhanov said;

“The terrorist has been arrested, (he is) 19 years old. A firearm is registered in his name. Other accomplices haven’t been established, an investigation is underway.”

Amateur footage on social media, apparently filmed from a nearby building, showed people escaping from the school by jumping from second- and third-floor windows, with sounds of gunshots echoing in the schoolyard.

Russian investigators said the gunman was a Kazan resident, who is believed to have studied at the school in the past. He has not been officially named. A video on social media captured a teenager lying on the ground apparently being detained outside the building.

After the attack Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said President Putin had ordered the chief of Russia’s National Guard to “work out as a matter of urgency new regulations on the types of weapon that can be in civilian circulation and that can be owned by the public”.

The instruction was issued “given the type of firearm used by the shooter”, Mr Peskov said. “The fact is that sometimes types of small arms are registered as hunting weapons, which in some countries are used as assault rifles,” he explained.

See SA lady who was murdered by her abusive boyfriend after she broke up with him (photos)

32-year-old bank employee, Tshepo Rakoma, was allegedly shot dead by her partner of eight years and father of her three children in Polokwane, Limpopo, South Africa after she ended their relationship.

TM reported that Tshepo was sprayed with bullets in the parking lot of a shopping centre while sitting in her car with a man during her lunch break, sparking a public outcry and bringing into the spotlight the scourge of gender-based violence (GBV) in the country.

The suspect, Kibi Josias Lebogo, 34, was arrested at the scene on charges of murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm. This was after he climbed on top of the roof of the parking lot and threatened to commit suicide.

Tshepo Rakoma,

The family of the deceased have blamed themselves for her death, saying they ignored her warnings and pleas for help.

The family said before Tshepo was murdered she pleaded for their intervention. She warned that the father of her three children was baying for her blood over her decision to end the relationship and told them that the suspect was stalking her.

Speaking to IOL on Sunday, May 9, Rakoma’s sister, Tebogo, and her aunt, Aletta Lephalala, said the deceased had given them several warnings, days before she was brutally murdered, that her life was in danger because her taxi-driver boyfriend had become increasingly abusive.

According to the family, the accused’s stalking tendencies began when Rakoma left him because of his violent nature. They said she told them that the suspect had turned against her after they started experiencing financial difficulties, which forced them to move back into a room in her mother’s house, in Seshego.

The couple had been living together for eight years and had three children, the family said. Things went from bad to worse after the suspect failed to keep up with the monthly repayments on his taxi due to Covid-19-related restrictions on load capacity.

“Tshepo warned us less than a day before that that animal would kill her,” Lephalala said.

It is alleged that Rakoma had locked herself in the car when the suspect shot her five times, including in the head. The young mother’s bullet-riddled body was found in the driver’s seat of her car.

Tebogo Rakoma said more warnings came from the deceased’s eldest child, 9, who raised concerns that the suspect would kill her after Rakoma threw him out of her mother’s house.

“We failed her. We could have stopped this if we had reacted sooner,” Tebogo said.

She said that Rakoma’s 63-year-old mother was not coping with the loss of her daughter, and would be receiving counselling. Lephalala claimed that the suspect nearly strangled Rakoma to death in February after he suspected that she was seeing someone else.

The family also disputed a police statement that Rakoma was in her car with a third person who fled the scene during the shootout.

Chairperson of NGO Women Taking Back Safety, Thalamsindo Raputu, said: “We believe that this guy was stalking Tshepo and ended up killing her. Now he is in prison getting breakfast, lunch and supper when Tshepo is lying dead”

Meanwhile, the suspect made a short court appearance at the Polokwane Magistrate Court on Monday, May 10.

Lebogo’s case was postponed to the 18th of May 2021 for further police investigations and bail application.

Divorce: ‘I discovered my wife is mentally ill after she stripped naked, destroyed my property after we got married’

OJA Oba/Mapo Court C Customary Court, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, recently dissolved the wedlock between a couple, Abiodun Adeoye and Rukayat Adeoye.

Abiodun in his divorce suit stated that his wife concealed from him her mental illness.

The plaintiff explained that he became aware that his wife had mental disorder shortly after they got married.

According to him, Rukayat suddenly became violent and took to destroying the property in their home.

He added that she sometimes stripped herself naked thus bringing shame unto him in their compound and neighbourhood.

Abiodun told the court his life was no longer safe with Rukayat who, he stated, could one day go violent and attack him.

He thus appealed to the court to stop their marriage.

The plaintiff further prayed for the custody of their only child who he stated his wife lack the ability to take proper care of.

The defendant was represented by her mother who refuted all that the plaintiff said.

She explained that the only time Rukayat showed sign of mental imbalance was when she failed to gain admission into a higher institution a few years ago after she had put in much effort in preparing for the examination.

According to her, she became withdrawn and went into depression as a result of too much thinking.

Abiodun in his testimony said, “My lord, I never knew I have signed off my joy and peace the day I got married to Rukayat.

“Rukayat’s parents knew their daughter has mental illness but they kept this away from me. They deceived me into marrying her.

“Rukayat displayed no sign of mental disorder throughout the period we courted because her parents helped her in managing her health so well.

“My lord, I started noticing my wife was incoherent in the way she reasoned and acted a few weeks into our marriage.

“I couldn’t understand what the matter was.

“Rukayat would blow hot this minute and the next minute she would be calm.

“I started feeling ill at ease being alone with her but I kept my observations to myself.

“My lord, things gradually went from bad to worse as my wife went wild and became violent.

“Rukayat would sometimes strip herself naked and walk out of the house in this state.

“Embarrassed and ashamed, I would run after her and drag her back home with the help of neighbours.

“Rukayat didn’t stop at these. She took to destroying items in the home.

“My lord, my wife went as far as visiting my mum’s shop and destroying her goods and property.

“Rukayat consistently brought ridicule to me and my family.

“My parents and I did all we could to arrest the situation but all was to no avail.

“We sought help for her cure through traditional means but we got no positive result.

“We took her to church for deliverance and she was there for weeks but her condition still remained the same.

“Not giving up, we approached Islamic clerics; they did their best but we never got the expected result.

“We gave up after our hopes were constantly dashed.

“My lord, I’m young and still have a long way to go. I see no future in my marriage to Rukayat which was the reason I came to court.

“I earnestly plead with this court to dissolve our marriage so that I can move on with life.

“My lord, I also entreat this honourable court to grant me custody of our only child. Rukayat is presently not in her sound mind, we will be doing our son injustice if put in her care,” Abiodun stated.

“My lord, all Abiodun said are lies. My daughter, Rukayat is not insane. She’s hale and hearty. Abiodun must surely have some other reasons known to only him to warrant his wanting to put his wife away.

“Rukayat went into depression a few years back after she failed to gain admission into the university. She put in so much effort studying for the examination but her efforts were not rewarded. She became withdrawn and took ill.

“She was attended to at the hospital and drugs were prescribed her after she was discharged.

“She took these until she was declared fine,” she concluded.

Giving his judgment, the court president, Chief Ademola Odunade ruled that their union be dissolved.

He gave custody of their child to the plaintiff. According to him, the baby is not safe with Rukayat considering her violent state.

Hamas fires rockets into Israel amid Jerusalem unrest (video)

Hamas launched rockets on Jerusalem Monday evening while thousands of Israelis celebrated Jerusalem Day, according to reports.

The group, which has been the de facto administrator of the Gaza Strip since 2007, made threats earlier in the day to punish Israel for violent confrontations with Palestinians.

The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) sent reinforcements, closed roads and postponed a planned drill as tensions mounted. Bomb shelters opened in Ashkelon and Kiryat Melachi, which border the Gaza region.

The IDF claimed seven rockets were fired toward the capital and one was intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system, the Jerusalem Post reported.

An IDF spokesman said that the attacks “won’t go by quietly.”

“Hamas will feel that our response to this event,” said Brig. Gen. Hidai Zilberman, who labeled the events as “inexcusable.” “We have a number of options on the table.”

Israel responded Monday with air strikes in the Gaza Strip, killing nine Palestinians, including three children, Reuters reported. The IDF made no statement about its action.

Hamas claimed that the rocket fire was in response to Israeli “crimes and aggression against the holy city.”

Palestinians and Israeli police clashed Friday at the Al-Aqsa mosque compound, a major holy site sacred to Muslims and Jews.

The Palestinian Red Crescent emergency service said 136 people were wounded in clashes with police there and elsewhere in Jerusalem, including 83 who were hospitalized.

Earlier Friday, Israeli troops shot and killed two Palestinians and wounded a third after the men opened fire on a base belonging to Israel’s paramilitary Border Police force in the occupied West Bank, the latest in a series of deadly confrontations in recent weeks that has coincided with the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Residents of the town told Daily Nigerian that dozens of gunmen struck at the mosque around 2am on Monday, May 10, and whisked away some worshippers.

It was further gathered that the kidnappers initially picked 47 congregants, including women and children, but seven later returned.

The police in Korle Bu, Ghana are currently carrying out an investigation following complaint of contamination of a medical doctor’s drinking water with HIV-infected blood.

Graphic Online reported that the doctors involved work at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH), and the act is suspected to have been carried out following a disagreement between the two while on duty.

A complaint was filed at Korle Bu District Police Command at about 11.30 am on May 6, 2021, by a medical doctor accompanied by the lawyer of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) Mr Kwame Gyamfi, regarding the allegation of water-poisioning.

The medical doctor told the police that he was on a 24-hour duty with six other doctors at the Labour Ward One of the hospital. At the end of the 24-hour shift, the medical doctor allegedly returned to his consulting room and detected that his drinking water which he kept in a water bottle in the room was contaminated.

According to the doctor, he suspected that his water has been contaminated after he found a reddish substance that appeared like blood in the water. A clinical test conducted thereafter, confirmed that it was blood and also positive for HIV.

The doctor who gave the name of his colleague he suspects to be behind the act, claimed that they had a disagreement while they were on duty at the labour ward.

Ryan Reynolds started his relationship with wife, Blake Lively, after the “anonymous airport bathroom sex”

Ryan Reynolds has jokingly said that his relationship with wife, Blake Lively, began when they had an “anonymous airport bathroom sex” after which she hired a “bounty hunter” to find him.

He made this revelation while wishing her a Happy Mother’s Day on Sunday,  May 9.

He shared a photo he took with Blake and wrote:

It can’t be said enough… you’re the heart and soul of every moment this family shares. I’m grateful for the light and for the kindness you smuggle into each and every second of our lives. I see you in the eyes of our children… Every laugh. Every blink and every thoughtful moment of vulnerability. The tender grit it takes to be a mother in 2021 is an act of pure strength and heroism. Never could I have predicted anonymous airport bathroom sex would lead to this. Or how you’d hire Dog The Bounty Hunter to find me. Either way, I’m lucky to reflect a little of the sunlight you shine on all of us. Happy Mother’s Day, my love.

Ryan Reynolds

The pair, who actually met on the set of the 2011 film Green Lantern and started dating in September 2012, are parents to James, 6, Inez, 4, and Betty, 1.

Ryan and Blake are known to try to embarrass each other on social media with their posts celebrating the other on special occasions.

Catholic Bishops asked Buhari to focus on insecurity, unemployment and not propaganda

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has asked President Muhammadu Buhari not to “focus energy, time and resources (on) any form of propaganda against religious leaders who disagree with (his) performance.”

In a statement on Thursday signed by its president, Augustine Akubeze, the CBCN described the recent allegations by the presidency and the State Security Service (also called the DSS) of a plot to impeach Mr Buhari as needless attempts by the federal government “to blackmail anyone who criticises (his) government.”

The CBCN said Nigeria’s democracy belongs to all of its citizens who do not need to be card-carrying members of a party to be able to express their views on the government’s failings. It called on the Buhari administration to “learn to listen to every Nigerian, both political actors in other parties and non-political actors in Nigeria and the diaspora.”

Earlier, in separate statements by Mr Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the army and the DSS, the federal government alleged attempts by unnamed political and religious leaders to initiate a coup or a referendum and a vote of no confidence that would result in the ultimate removal of the Buhari administration.

The statements followed growing criticism of the federal government over the worsening security situation in the country and a call by fiery Catholic priest Ejika Mbaka for Mr Buhari to either resign or be removed from office.

The federal government’s statements said the concerned Nigerians had connived with external forces to execute their plot and warned of possible treasonable charges against perpetrators.

But according to the CBCN, the decision to speak out was not for the “APC Government to fail,” but for Nigeria to succeed.

The Catholic leaders affirmed their stance against the undemocratic transfer of power but added that Mr Buhari has relegated his obligation of concern for the welfare and security of the people to spokespersons and consequently denigrated the Nigerians who voted him to power.

“In every democracy, the welfare of the citizens is of great concern to the President. From time to time, Presidents address the people and give an account of the state of affairs in the country. In Nigeria, we hardly hear directly from our President. Most of the time, we hear from “the Presidency.” Nigerians did not elect presidential media spokespersons.”

The CBCN said Nigeria was on a path of destruction if the federal government “continue(s) to ignore the constructive criticisms and recommendations of Nigerians from every sector.”

“We are speedily getting there. Police stations are being burnt, our gallant military men and women are being killed, barracks are attacked, IDP camps are attacked, farmlands are invaded, youth unemployment is at its highest, private sectors are not giving enabling environment to thrive, and appointments to offices are not reflective of our diversities; the complaints are almost endless – could the sounds signalling a collapsing nation be louder than this?,” the CBCN queried.

The Catholic leaders urged religious and notable Nigerians to avoid inflammatory comments that would distort the meanings of their proposed message to the government and to unite for the good of Nigeria.

Nigeria won’t break up – TB Joshua

Leader and Founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Temitope Balogun Joshua popularly known as Prophet TB Joshua has released a video of a prophecy for Nigeria which he gave almost seven years ago.

The cleric who gave the prophecy on July 27, 2014, said Nigeria would be covered by a cloud of “crisis, murder, killings, destruction”, but would not break up.

TB Joshua warned members of the political class of impending repercussions; even as he noted that they would be made to pay for their part in the crises.

He said during the church service;

“Nothing will happen to Nigeria. Nigeria will remain one.

“Beyond this crisis, Nigeria is beautiful. Your prayer now is that you should witness it so that this crisis will not take you away.

“It is decreed that this nation will be reckoned with as a powerful nation.

“Huge trouble is coming and no human being will withstand it unless you don’t have hand in that trouble.

“There is a cloud that covers Nigeria… the cloud of crisis, murder, killings, destruction covers Nigeria. The cloud will go; Nigeria will remain.

“Power without peace is powerless. The manner you have that power will determine whether there will be peace in it. The power is in the heart. Not in the gun, not in the White house or Aso Rock. If you are living in the White House without power in the heart, it is like you are living in the bush.

“I want to assure you: Nigeria – nothing will happen to Nigeria. Nigeria will remain one!”
