Mark Evans, Adele’s Dad, dies aged 57 years

Grammy Award winning singer, Adele’s father has died at 57 after years of disputes and public rows.

Adele, 33, has previously spoken of her fractured relationship with dad, Mark Evans, who had been suffering from cancer.

Mark walked out on Adele’s mother Penny when Adele was three and returned to his native Wales.

In 2017 Adele infamously told the audience during her Grammys speech;

“Thank you to my manager because the comeback, as it were, was completely masterminded by him.

“And you executed it incredibly, and I owe you everything.

“We’ve been together for ten years, and I love you like you’re my dad. I love you so, so much.

“I don’t love my dad, that’s the thing. That doesn’t mean a lot. I love you like I would love my dad.”

Mark once claimed that he and his daughter had made up and shared a drink around the time of her Adele Live tour to support her second album 21. But she later denied this.

A source said: “Mark’s family are of course very upset by his passing. He always hoped things would work out with Adele, but it remained acrimonious to the end.

“He made a few attempts to make things right, but clearly it had been too long.”

In 2013 he revealed he was battling bowel cancer and feared he would never meet his grandson, Angelo — Adele’s son with charity entrepreneur Simon Konecki, who she divorced in March.

Juventus may be expulsed from Serie A if they don’t leave the Super League

Italian soccer federation president, Gabriele Gravina has said Juventus faces expulsion from the country’s top league if they do not withdraw from the European Super League.

While AC Milan and Inter Milan have already pulled out of the controversial bid to form a breakaway competition, Juventus remains the only Italian club still pushing for the move.

‘The rules are clear. If Juventus is still part of the Super League when it enters next season, it can’t participate in Serie A,’ Gravina told Naples radio station Kiss Kiss.

‘I would be sorry for the fans but rules are rules and they apply to everyone.’

Real Madrid and Barcelona are also still holding onto the project, despite the risk of being banned from the Champions League.

‘I hope this holdout ends soon,’ Gravina added.

Three weeks ago six English clubs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Tottenham backed out within 48 hours of the project’s announcement after a backlash from fans football pundit.

The comments from Gravina follow a joint statement from Juventus, Barcelona, and Real Madrid over the weekend, slamming ‘unacceptable pressures, threats and offences’ to scrap the Super League project, turning on the nine clubs that have signed a deal with UEFA.

‘The founding clubs have suffered, and continue to suffer, unacceptable third-party pressures, threats, and offences to abandon the project and therefore desist from their right and duty to provide solutions to the football ecosystem via concrete proposals and constructive dialogue,’ the statement read.

‘This is intolerable under the rule of law and Tribunals have already ruled in favour of the Super League proposal, ordering FIFA and UEFA to, either directly or through their affiliated bodies, refrain from taking any action which may hinder this initiative in any way while court proceedings are pending.’

China: South African Student falls from 13th floor to her death

A 24-year-old South African student, Kgothatso Mdunana, has fallen to her death under mysterious circumstances in China.

It was gathered that she died last Friday, May 7, after apparently falling out of the window of a friend’s flat on the 13th floor in Hangzhou.

Mdunana was studying civil engineering at Shandong University and was due to complete her studies in just under two months’ time.

Kgothatso Mdunana

An investigation is now under way in the East Asian country while the International Relations Department is helping to facilitate the return of her remains

The last time Kgothatso’s family saw her was three years ago, but they were in constant communication and spoke was last week – two days before her mysterious death.

Speaking to Eyewitness News, her heartbroken parents said they received the tragic news through a chilling message from her roommate identified simply as Princess – accompanied by a 4-second video showing their daughter’s lifeless body.

“The video just surfaced from someone knowing this friend that she went to visit. I asked Princess to say can you give this person my number to call me because I want to speak to him or her. Then she said I don’t have the number. It’s very difficult, I can’t sleep. I sleep with tablets.” said the deceased’s mother, Pfarelo Mphamphul.

Kgothatso Mdunana

Kgothatso’s father, Pfarelo Mphamphuli, said the family has been told that she travelled 15 hours from Shandong by train to Hangzhou province to meet up with a friend who none of them knew.

“No one knew about this trip. All we know is that the police took this person in for questioning. No other information why they are questioning him or her about. All they said is this was an accident,” said Mphamphuli.

He said some of Kgothatso’s friends had offered to travel to Hangzhou to help fill in the missing pieces.

“They said it was an accident and we must just take it like that. The embassy said they will be getting a report from the Chinese authorities.”

Kgothatso’s family described her as bubbly, ambitious and with big dreams. She matriculated from St Stithians College in 2014 and her parents said she was just about to submit her final assignment to graduate as a civil engineer in July.

Kgothatso planned to kickstart her career in the UK. Her father said she had an opportunity to come back home at the expense of the South African government when other citizens did so at the start of the outbreak of COVID-19 in China. But Kgothatso opted to stay in China and took up teaching English.

Now that she’s passed away, it’s become harder to transport her mortal remains because her family cannot afford the cost of almost R300,000.

They have started an online fundraising campaign while the International Relations Department, through its consulate in Shanghai, is assisting by facilitating the repatriation.

“In our culture we are supposed to also collect her spirit. So I need to go exactly where she was,” said her mother.

Mphamphuli said he took comfort in the last conversation he had with his daughter two days before she died.

“I just sent a text. Said I love you too. That was the last message.” he added.

Kgothatso Mdunana

Meanwhile, the fundraising effort to bring back the body has succeeded, with more than R500,000 raised in less than four days, far exceeding the R350,000 target.

Australia: A schoolboy has been crushed to death by a rubbish truck after he and two friends fell asleep in an industrial bin

A 13-year-old schoolboy has been crushed to death by a rubbish truck after he and two friends fell asleep in an industrial bin in Australia.

The boy slept off in the bin with two other boys aged 11 and 12.

The 11-year-old boy suffered serious injuries when the truck began emptying the industrial bin while the third boy, 12, managed to escape unharmed and alerted the driver.

The tragedy happened at 5.20am local time on Tuesday, May 11, in Port Lincoln on South Australia’s west coast.

Superintendent Paul Bahr told reporters that the surviving boys are “traumatised” and that it will take time to get a detailed version of events from them.

He said detectives will be investigating as to why the children were sleeping in the bin but claimed they were not homeless, adding: “Just one of the levels of tragedy to this is why these three children thought they needed to be sleeping in the bin.

“I think it’s fair to say the boys had somewhere to stay. I don’t think it would be fair to classify them as homeless.”

The truck driver did not realise the children, who are from Port Lincoln, were in the bin at the time and was said to be “extremely shaken by the incident”.

Port Lincoln Mayor Brad Flaherty described the accident as a tragedy. He said: “It’s a terrible, terrible incident that will have an awful impact on the community as a whole and the families involved.

“Our heartfelt thoughts are with the families and community members affected.”

Staff and students at the local school the boy attended have been offered counselling in the wake of his death.

A spokesperson for Veolia Waste Management, the truck driver’s company, offered condolences to the boy’s loved ones.

“While we are unable to comment further on the circumstances at present, we are working closely with the emergency services and a full investigation into the incident is underway,” they said.

Wow! Conjoined twins successfully separated in South Africa (photos)

A set of conjoined twins have been successfully separated during a sensitive operation at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital (RCWMCR) in Cape Town, South Africa.

The RCWMCR said on Tuesday, May 11, that the twins were brought to the hospital in February when they were only four days old.

Conjoined twins

The elated 31-year-old mother, Ntombikayise Tyhalisi, said after the unique operation that she could not believe that she would be able to hold Siphosethu and Amahle in separate arms after their birth.

“I am overjoyed! I wasn’t expecting to leave here holding my children one in each arm,” she said.

Conjoined twins

The head of Paediatric Neurosurgery at the hospital, Professor Tony Figaji said the babies were joined at the head in what is referred to as craniopagus twinning, the rarest form of conjoined twinning.

“Craniopagus twins occur approximately once in every 2.5 million live births worldwide. We were fortunate in this case that the connection did not involve any shared brain tissue and didn’t involve major [blood] vessels going from one twin to the other,” Figaji added.

Meanwhile, Plastic Surgery Head, Professor Saleigh Adams, told the department that the teams were prepared for a marathon surgery.

“We were prepared for a six-hour, at least, surgery. On this occasion, the surgery lasted all of one and a half hours. This is a huge plus for the recovery of the twins.” he said.

The hospital’s focus now turns to ensure the healthy healing of the surgical areas.

“Both patients and mom are doing well following the surgery and continue to receive follow-up care.”

Israel military strikes hard in Gaza, 24 Palestians killed, including children (photos)

At least 24 Palestinians including nine children were killed on Tuesday morning by Israeli warplane strikes, in Gaza after Hamas fired rockets at Israel in response to clashes in Jerusalem this week.

Israel

Over the weekend, confrontations erupted at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in east Jerusalem, which was captured and annexed by Israel in the 1967 Mideast war.

The compound, located in Jerusalem’s Old City, is the third holiest site of Islam and the holiest site of Judaism.

Islamist terror group, Hamas issued an ultimatum to Israel to withdraw security forces from the Mosque and Muslim areas of the Old City.

And on Monday Hamas fired bombs into Israel, leading Israel ro unleash airstrikes on Gaza Tuesday morning, smashing the tower block of a Hamas field commander and two border tunnels.

Israel
Israel

Israel says that at least 15 of the dead were militants, adding that six Israeli civilians had been wounded after Hamas fired more than 200 rockets.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has now warned that the fighting could ‘continue for some time,’ claiming that Hamas had ‘crossed a red line’ by launching rockets at Israel.

Christians revere Jerusalem as the place where they believe that Jesus preached, died and was resurrected while the Palestinians want the eastern section of Jerusalem as a capital of a future state.

Israel sees all of Jerusalem as its eternal and indivisible capital and till this day Israel’s annexation of East Jerusalem is unrecognized internationally.

Seven students and their teacher killed in Russian school shooting

A shooting at a high school in the central Russian city of Kazan on Tuesday May 11, has left 7 students mostly children and a teacher dead.

The attack happened 820km (510 miles) east of Moscow, in the mainly Muslim republic of Tatarstan.

Rustam Minnikhanov, Governor of Tatarstan republic where Kazan is the capital, said that four male and three female eighth-grade students died in the shooting. Minnikhanov’s press service later added that a teacher was also killed.

More than 20 others, mostly children were reportedly wounded. A 19-year-old suspect was detained. Minnikhanov said;

“The terrorist has been arrested, (he is) 19 years old. A firearm is registered in his name. Other accomplices haven’t been established, an investigation is underway.”

Amateur footage on social media, apparently filmed from a nearby building, showed people escaping from the school by jumping from second- and third-floor windows, with sounds of gunshots echoing in the schoolyard.

Russian investigators said the gunman was a Kazan resident, who is believed to have studied at the school in the past. He has not been officially named. A video on social media captured a teenager lying on the ground apparently being detained outside the building.

After the attack Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said President Putin had ordered the chief of Russia’s National Guard to “work out as a matter of urgency new regulations on the types of weapon that can be in civilian circulation and that can be owned by the public”.

The instruction was issued “given the type of firearm used by the shooter”, Mr Peskov said. “The fact is that sometimes types of small arms are registered as hunting weapons, which in some countries are used as assault rifles,” he explained.

See SA lady who was murdered by her abusive boyfriend after she broke up with him (photos)

32-year-old bank employee, Tshepo Rakoma, was allegedly shot dead by her partner of eight years and father of her three children in Polokwane, Limpopo, South Africa after she ended their relationship.

TM reported that Tshepo was sprayed with bullets in the parking lot of a shopping centre while sitting in her car with a man during her lunch break, sparking a public outcry and bringing into the spotlight the scourge of gender-based violence (GBV) in the country.

The suspect, Kibi Josias Lebogo, 34, was arrested at the scene on charges of murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm. This was after he climbed on top of the roof of the parking lot and threatened to commit suicide.

Tshepo Rakoma,

The family of the deceased have blamed themselves for her death, saying they ignored her warnings and pleas for help.

The family said before Tshepo was murdered she pleaded for their intervention. She warned that the father of her three children was baying for her blood over her decision to end the relationship and told them that the suspect was stalking her.

Speaking to IOL on Sunday, May 9, Rakoma’s sister, Tebogo, and her aunt, Aletta Lephalala, said the deceased had given them several warnings, days before she was brutally murdered, that her life was in danger because her taxi-driver boyfriend had become increasingly abusive.

According to the family, the accused’s stalking tendencies began when Rakoma left him because of his violent nature. They said she told them that the suspect had turned against her after they started experiencing financial difficulties, which forced them to move back into a room in her mother’s house, in Seshego.

The couple had been living together for eight years and had three children, the family said. Things went from bad to worse after the suspect failed to keep up with the monthly repayments on his taxi due to Covid-19-related restrictions on load capacity.

“Tshepo warned us less than a day before that that animal would kill her,” Lephalala said.

It is alleged that Rakoma had locked herself in the car when the suspect shot her five times, including in the head. The young mother’s bullet-riddled body was found in the driver’s seat of her car.

Tebogo Rakoma said more warnings came from the deceased’s eldest child, 9, who raised concerns that the suspect would kill her after Rakoma threw him out of her mother’s house.

“We failed her. We could have stopped this if we had reacted sooner,” Tebogo said.

She said that Rakoma’s 63-year-old mother was not coping with the loss of her daughter, and would be receiving counselling. Lephalala claimed that the suspect nearly strangled Rakoma to death in February after he suspected that she was seeing someone else.

The family also disputed a police statement that Rakoma was in her car with a third person who fled the scene during the shootout.

Chairperson of NGO Women Taking Back Safety, Thalamsindo Raputu, said: “We believe that this guy was stalking Tshepo and ended up killing her. Now he is in prison getting breakfast, lunch and supper when Tshepo is lying dead”

Meanwhile, the suspect made a short court appearance at the Polokwane Magistrate Court on Monday, May 10.

Lebogo’s case was postponed to the 18th of May 2021 for further police investigations and bail application.

Divorce: ‘I discovered my wife is mentally ill after she stripped naked, destroyed my property after we got married’

OJA Oba/Mapo Court C Customary Court, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, recently dissolved the wedlock between a couple, Abiodun Adeoye and Rukayat Adeoye.

Abiodun in his divorce suit stated that his wife concealed from him her mental illness.

The plaintiff explained that he became aware that his wife had mental disorder shortly after they got married.

According to him, Rukayat suddenly became violent and took to destroying the property in their home.

He added that she sometimes stripped herself naked thus bringing shame unto him in their compound and neighbourhood.

Abiodun told the court his life was no longer safe with Rukayat who, he stated, could one day go violent and attack him.

He thus appealed to the court to stop their marriage.

The plaintiff further prayed for the custody of their only child who he stated his wife lack the ability to take proper care of.

The defendant was represented by her mother who refuted all that the plaintiff said.

She explained that the only time Rukayat showed sign of mental imbalance was when she failed to gain admission into a higher institution a few years ago after she had put in much effort in preparing for the examination.

According to her, she became withdrawn and went into depression as a result of too much thinking.

Abiodun in his testimony said, “My lord, I never knew I have signed off my joy and peace the day I got married to Rukayat.

“Rukayat’s parents knew their daughter has mental illness but they kept this away from me. They deceived me into marrying her.

“Rukayat displayed no sign of mental disorder throughout the period we courted because her parents helped her in managing her health so well.

“My lord, I started noticing my wife was incoherent in the way she reasoned and acted a few weeks into our marriage.

“I couldn’t understand what the matter was.

“Rukayat would blow hot this minute and the next minute she would be calm.

“I started feeling ill at ease being alone with her but I kept my observations to myself.

“My lord, things gradually went from bad to worse as my wife went wild and became violent.

“Rukayat would sometimes strip herself naked and walk out of the house in this state.

“Embarrassed and ashamed, I would run after her and drag her back home with the help of neighbours.

“Rukayat didn’t stop at these. She took to destroying items in the home.

“My lord, my wife went as far as visiting my mum’s shop and destroying her goods and property.

“Rukayat consistently brought ridicule to me and my family.

“My parents and I did all we could to arrest the situation but all was to no avail.

“We sought help for her cure through traditional means but we got no positive result.

“We took her to church for deliverance and she was there for weeks but her condition still remained the same.

“Not giving up, we approached Islamic clerics; they did their best but we never got the expected result.

“We gave up after our hopes were constantly dashed.

“My lord, I’m young and still have a long way to go. I see no future in my marriage to Rukayat which was the reason I came to court.

“I earnestly plead with this court to dissolve our marriage so that I can move on with life.

“My lord, I also entreat this honourable court to grant me custody of our only child. Rukayat is presently not in her sound mind, we will be doing our son injustice if put in her care,” Abiodun stated.

“My lord, all Abiodun said are lies. My daughter, Rukayat is not insane. She’s hale and hearty. Abiodun must surely have some other reasons known to only him to warrant his wanting to put his wife away.

“Rukayat went into depression a few years back after she failed to gain admission into the university. She put in so much effort studying for the examination but her efforts were not rewarded. She became withdrawn and took ill.

“She was attended to at the hospital and drugs were prescribed her after she was discharged.

“She took these until she was declared fine,” she concluded.

Giving his judgment, the court president, Chief Ademola Odunade ruled that their union be dissolved.

He gave custody of their child to the plaintiff. According to him, the baby is not safe with Rukayat considering her violent state.

Hamas fires rockets into Israel amid Jerusalem unrest (video)

Hamas launched rockets on Jerusalem Monday evening while thousands of Israelis celebrated Jerusalem Day, according to reports.

The group, which has been the de facto administrator of the Gaza Strip since 2007, made threats earlier in the day to punish Israel for violent confrontations with Palestinians.

The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) sent reinforcements, closed roads and postponed a planned drill as tensions mounted. Bomb shelters opened in Ashkelon and Kiryat Melachi, which border the Gaza region.

The IDF claimed seven rockets were fired toward the capital and one was intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system, the Jerusalem Post reported.

An IDF spokesman said that the attacks “won’t go by quietly.”

“Hamas will feel that our response to this event,” said Brig. Gen. Hidai Zilberman, who labeled the events as “inexcusable.” “We have a number of options on the table.”

Israel responded Monday with air strikes in the Gaza Strip, killing nine Palestinians, including three children, Reuters reported. The IDF made no statement about its action.

Hamas claimed that the rocket fire was in response to Israeli “crimes and aggression against the holy city.”

Palestinians and Israeli police clashed Friday at the Al-Aqsa mosque compound, a major holy site sacred to Muslims and Jews.

The Palestinian Red Crescent emergency service said 136 people were wounded in clashes with police there and elsewhere in Jerusalem, including 83 who were hospitalized.

Earlier Friday, Israeli troops shot and killed two Palestinians and wounded a third after the men opened fire on a base belonging to Israel’s paramilitary Border Police force in the occupied West Bank, the latest in a series of deadly confrontations in recent weeks that has coincided with the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

A Ghanian Doctor poisons colleague’s water with HIV blood

The police in Korle Bu, Ghana are currently carrying out an investigation following complaint of contamination of a medical doctor’s drinking water with HIV-infected blood.

Graphic Online reported that the doctors involved work at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH), and the act is suspected to have been carried out following a disagreement between the two while on duty.

A complaint was filed at Korle Bu District Police Command at about 11.30 am on May 6, 2021, by a medical doctor accompanied by the lawyer of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) Mr Kwame Gyamfi, regarding the allegation of water-poisioning.

The medical doctor told the police that he was on a 24-hour duty with six other doctors at the Labour Ward One of the hospital. At the end of the 24-hour shift, the medical doctor allegedly returned to his consulting room and detected that his drinking water which he kept in a water bottle in the room was contaminated.

According to the doctor, he suspected that his water has been contaminated after he found a reddish substance that appeared like blood in the water. A clinical test conducted thereafter, confirmed that it was blood and also positive for HIV.

The doctor who gave the name of his colleague he suspects to be behind the act, claimed that they had a disagreement while they were on duty at the labour ward.

Ryan Reynolds started his relationship with wife, Blake Lively, after the “anonymous airport bathroom sex”

Ryan Reynolds has jokingly said that his relationship with wife, Blake Lively, began when they had an “anonymous airport bathroom sex” after which she hired a “bounty hunter” to find him.

He made this revelation while wishing her a Happy Mother’s Day on Sunday,  May 9.

He shared a photo he took with Blake and wrote:

It can’t be said enough… you’re the heart and soul of every moment this family shares. I’m grateful for the light and for the kindness you smuggle into each and every second of our lives. I see you in the eyes of our children… Every laugh. Every blink and every thoughtful moment of vulnerability. The tender grit it takes to be a mother in 2021 is an act of pure strength and heroism. Never could I have predicted anonymous airport bathroom sex would lead to this. Or how you’d hire Dog The Bounty Hunter to find me. Either way, I’m lucky to reflect a little of the sunlight you shine on all of us. Happy Mother’s Day, my love.

The pair, who actually met on the set of the 2011 film Green Lantern and started dating in September 2012, are parents to James, 6, Inez, 4, and Betty, 1.

Ryan and Blake are known to try to embarrass each other on social media with their posts celebrating the other on special occasions.

Catholic Bishops asked Buhari to focus on insecurity, unemployment and not propaganda

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has asked President Muhammadu Buhari not to “focus energy, time and resources (on) any form of propaganda against religious leaders who disagree with (his) performance.”

In a statement on Thursday signed by its president, Augustine Akubeze, the CBCN described the recent allegations by the presidency and the State Security Service (also called the DSS) of a plot to impeach Mr Buhari as needless attempts by the federal government “to blackmail anyone who criticises (his) government.”

The CBCN said Nigeria’s democracy belongs to all of its citizens who do not need to be card-carrying members of a party to be able to express their views on the government’s failings. It called on the Buhari administration to “learn to listen to every Nigerian, both political actors in other parties and non-political actors in Nigeria and the diaspora.”

Earlier, in separate statements by Mr Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the army and the DSS, the federal government alleged attempts by unnamed political and religious leaders to initiate a coup or a referendum and a vote of no confidence that would result in the ultimate removal of the Buhari administration.

Catholic Bishops to Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari

The statements followed growing criticism of the federal government over the worsening security situation in the country and a call by fiery Catholic priest Ejika Mbaka for Mr Buhari to either resign or be removed from office.

The federal government’s statements said the concerned Nigerians had connived with external forces to execute their plot and warned of possible treasonable charges against perpetrators.

But according to the CBCN, the decision to speak out was not for the “APC Government to fail,” but for Nigeria to succeed.

The Catholic leaders affirmed their stance against the undemocratic transfer of power but added that Mr Buhari has relegated his obligation of concern for the welfare and security of the people to spokespersons and consequently denigrated the Nigerians who voted him to power.

“In every democracy, the welfare of the citizens is of great concern to the President. From time to time, Presidents address the people and give an account of the state of affairs in the country. In Nigeria, we hardly hear directly from our President. Most of the time, we hear from “the Presidency.” Nigerians did not elect presidential media spokespersons.”

The CBCN said Nigeria was on a path of destruction if the federal government “continue(s) to ignore the constructive criticisms and recommendations of Nigerians from every sector.”

“We are speedily getting there. Police stations are being burnt, our gallant military men and women are being killed, barracks are attacked, IDP camps are attacked, farmlands are invaded, youth unemployment is at its highest, private sectors are not giving enabling environment to thrive, and appointments to offices are not reflective of our diversities; the complaints are almost endless – could the sounds signalling a collapsing nation be louder than this?,” the CBCN queried.

The Catholic leaders urged religious and notable Nigerians to avoid inflammatory comments that would distort the meanings of their proposed message to the government and to unite for the good of Nigeria.

Nigeria won’t break up – TB Joshua

Leader and Founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Temitope Balogun Joshua popularly known as Prophet TB Joshua has released a video of a prophecy for Nigeria which he gave almost seven years ago.

The cleric who gave the prophecy on July 27, 2014, said Nigeria would be covered by a cloud of “crisis, murder, killings, destruction”, but would not break up.

TB Joshua warned members of the political class of impending repercussions; even as he noted that they would be made to pay for their part in the crises.

He said during the church service;

“Nothing will happen to Nigeria. Nigeria will remain one.

“Beyond this crisis, Nigeria is beautiful. Your prayer now is that you should witness it so that this crisis will not take you away.

“It is decreed that this nation will be reckoned with as a powerful nation.

“Huge trouble is coming and no human being will withstand it unless you don’t have hand in that trouble.

“There is a cloud that covers Nigeria… the cloud of crisis, murder, killings, destruction covers Nigeria. The cloud will go; Nigeria will remain.

“Power without peace is powerless. The manner you have that power will determine whether there will be peace in it. The power is in the heart. Not in the gun, not in the White house or Aso Rock. If you are living in the White House without power in the heart, it is like you are living in the bush.

“I want to assure you: Nigeria – nothing will happen to Nigeria. Nigeria will remain one!”

Nigerian Army arrests suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Kano

Suspected Boko Haram terrorists were on Saturday evening, May 8, arrested by soldiers in Hotoro North in Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

A resident, Malam Muhammed Amadi told Daily Trust that soldiers arrived the newly moved-in house situated at Filin Lazio of the area by 9:15 pm and whisked away some occupants of the apartment.

Amadi said the arrest was made without any resistance from the suspects and no single arm was fired during the operation that ended in less than 30 minutes.

Another resident told the publication that the residence where the suspects were arrested had been a centre of concern to many residents, adding that it had become a joint for migrants from the north-east especially Borno State.

He said;

“The flamboyant lifestyle of the people and their peculiarity has raised serious concern among residents and I believe the arrest made was an outcome of these raised concerns.

“I have heard stories that the suspects were arrested in a mosque. This is just a speculation as they were arrested in a house, not in a mosque.”

Army spokesperson in Kano, Captain Njoko Irabor confirmed the development and said a statement will soon be released.

Irabor said the operation was intelligence-based and part of an ongoing operation to rid Kano State of criminal elements that may want to take advantage of the relative peace in the state to hibernate and plan attacks.

Knifeman goes on a stabbing spree in New Zealand supermarket, injuring several people

Three shoppers are fighting for their lives after a knifeman went on a stabbing spree at a Countdown Supermarket in Dunedin, New Zealand on Monday, May 10.

Eyewitnesses said there was chaos as a knifeman injured several people in Dunedin before walking into a police station next door.

Three of those stabbed are in critical condition.

The alleged attacker was arrested after the horror unfolded at 2.35pm local time, NZ Herald reported.

Zealand supermarket

Police have praised the bravery of shoppers who intervened to confront a man in the “random attack”.

Southern police district commander Paul Basham told reporters police responded within minutes.

Officers found four people with stab injuries and the alleged offender, who had been detained by members of the public.

He praised the bravery of shoppers who tried to intervene. Basham said they had acted selflessly and were heroic.

Zealand supermarket

“The credit goes to the members of the public who acted heroically,” he said.

He continued: “This was a fast-moving and extremely traumatic event for every person in that supermarket – the victims who were injured, those present who tried to intervene and those who had to flee to a place of safety.”

It was the very early stages of the inquiry, including the motivation of the attack.

“We believe this was a random attack,” he said.

The alleged stabber was injured and is currently in hospital under police guard.

Zealand supermarket

The officer told reporters: “Before I came to speak to you this afternoon, I have viewed the CCTV footage which is quite traumatic. What I can say is those that intervened, some of who became injured themselves, I think have acted selfless and great courage to prevent this man from hurting anybody else – and indeed I think they did just that.”

He said while the proximity of emergency services to the supermarket “undoubtedly” helped, the credit goes to the members of the public who intervened.

“God forbid the status of those victims deteriorates overnight, and then we would be looking at something else. But let’s hope that’s not the case.”

Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, said there was nothing to suggest a domestic terror event according to the current police investigation.

“Needless to say such an attack is hugely concerning,” she told a post-Cabinet press conference as she praised passers’-by bravery and said her thoughts were with those injured.

Japan: 25-year-old wife charged with killing her 77-year-old millionaire husband

An ex-Pornstar, Saki Sudo, 25, has been charged with murdering her spouse, Kosuke Nozaki, 77, who reportedly liked sex so much he was called ‘don juan’ after notoriously claiming he had bedded 4000 women and also demanded sex three times a day.

Saki Sudo

Business tycoon Kosuke Nozaki, who made his fortune through real estate, agriculture and money lending, married the suspect in February 2018 in the Japanese city Tanabe.

He was dead within months, according to Japanese news site Tokyo Reporter.

Saki Sudo

Before his death, Nozaki had brushed off warnings that his ex-porn star wife only married him for his money after she was spotted on lavish shopping trips around the world.

He wrote in his memoir: “I am sorry for the 99 per cent of people who wish for this marriage to fall apart, but I am confident that I will be happy.”

In the memoir, he said frequent sex was the secret to staying young and he wished to die and go to heaven while having sex.

“Our time in the bedroom is also fun. I’m convinced that is the secret to staying young,” he wrote.

“We have a quota of sex three times a day and I don’t need Viagra. I know having so much sex may cause my death, but if I can die having sex and go to heaven then I am good.”

Saki Sudo

Sudo was arrested in Tokyo last month after cops raided her home.

Police authorities allege Sudo killed her husband as phone records show several internet searches for “stimulant drugs” and poisons on Sudo’s phone.

She was flown back to Wakayama, where she had lived with her husband, and has now been charged with murder.

In 2016, the businessman wrote a book called ‘Don Juan of Wakayama’.

He wrote: “The reason I make money is to date attractive women.”

When he popped the question to Sudo, he reportedly asked her: “Would you like to be my last woman?”

Shortly after his death, Sudo appointed herself president of her late husband’s million-dollar company, it is claimed.

She is said to have wanted to flee Japan after the funeral, but was restricted by Covid-19 travel restrictions.

West Brom relegated from English Premier League

West Brom have been relegated from the Premier League after a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday, May 9.

Following the loss, Sam Allardyce’s team are 10 points away from safety in the English top flight with just three games left to play making it mathematically impossible to claw back to safety.

West Brom relegated from English Premier League

West Brom went behind against the Gunners less than 30 minutes into the clash when Emile Smith Rowe struck from close range.

Then Nicolas Pepe doubled the home side’s lead in the 35th minute by smashing into the top corner. Matheus Pereira gave the visitors hope in the second half before Willian wrapped up the points with a late free kick.

“It’s not sunk in yet, but I’m sure I’ll wake up tomorrow and realise the situation,” Sam Allardyce told BT Sport. “I’m bitterly disappointed we’re not still in the fight.

“I’m not saying we would have avoided relegation but we should have been closer, we should have taken it down to the last three games, based on how we performed. The creating of chances has been there but the converting has not.

“We had [enough] time to pull it round. Our real problem was not beating the bottom-six sides when we came up against them. The results against Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City should have been bonus points.”

West Brom still have games against Liverpool, West Ham and Leeds to round off the campaign.

After just one season back in the top flight, they will return to the Championship with Sheffield United, while Fulham look set to follow, having taken just one point from their last six games.

This is the first time in 17 years Sam Allardyce will be relegated from the top flight .

BREAKING!! Nigerian Govt. to Release the Names Of Boko Haram Sponsors and Banditry

The Attorney-General of the Federation has disclosed that some high profile Nigerians will be facing prosecution for financing terrorism/Boko Haram. This is coming after over 400 businessmen were arrested in an operation coordinated by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), and in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Malami who addressed newsmen on Friday May 7, said the arrest of some of the suspects followed the recent conviction of some Nigerians for financing terrorism in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He also disclosed that gave rise to a wider and far-reaching investigation in Nigeria.

He said; “As you will actually know, some time back, there were certain convictions of Nigerians allegedly involved in terrorism financing in the United Arab Emirates.

“That gave rise to a wider and far-reaching investigation in Nigeria and I’m happy to report that arising from the wider coverage investigation that has been conducted in Nigeria, a number of people, both institutional and otherwise, were found to be culpable. “I mean reasonable grounds for suspicion of terrorism financing have been established, or perhaps has been proven to be in existence in respect of the transactions of certain higher profile individuals and businessmen across the country. “I’m happy to report that investigation has been ongoing for long and it has reached an advanced stage.

“As to the number, investigation is ongoing and it has to be conclusive before one can arrive at a certain number. But one thing I can tell you is it is a large number and they are being profiled for prosecution,” he said.

“It is indeed a large number and I’m not in a position to give you the precise number as at now, because the profiling and investigation are ongoing. “The message is clear; nobody is going to be spared. No stone will be left unturned. We shall certainly and aggressively pursue those people that are involved in terrorist financing as far as the Nigerian state is concerned.”

Alexei Navalny’s Doctor, disappears during hunting trip in Russia

Alexander Murakhovsky, the Siberian doctor who treated President Vladimir Putin’s critic Alexei Navalny after he was reportedly poisoned with novichok last year, has disappeared, Russian police said on Sunday May 9.

The physician, 49, was last seen leaving a hunting base in a forest in the Omsk region around 2,200 km (1,370 miles) east of Moscow in an all-terrain vehicle on Friday, police said.

There are unconfirmed claims that he contacted other hunters by radio to say that he would go on by foot but was confused over which direction to go amid reports of wild bears in the vicinity.

His friends looked for him but failed to locate the missing minister.

Russian national guards, police, emergency ministry staff, and volunteers are involved in the exercises with helicopters deployed to find him.

A search effort was already underway including emergency services, drones, a helicopter, and volunteers on the ground.

In February another doctor who treated the activist died in mysterious circumstances amid claims he had been ‘liquidated’. The following month another medic died after ‘suffering a stroke’, prompting claims the death was suspicious.

Mr. Navalny fell ill during a domestic flight from Siberia to Moscow in August last year with suspected Novichok poisoning. He was eventually allowed to be airlifted to Germany for further treatment.

Dr. Murakhovsky had said that initial laboratory tests after treating Navalny had not shown traces of the Novichok nerve agent.

But tests by laboratories in three European countries, confirmed by the international chemical weapons watchdog OPCW, said that poison had in fact been used on the opposition figure.

The Kremlin has denied accusations of being behind the attempted killing of one of President Vladimir Putin’s main political opponents.

In November 2020, Dr. Murakhovsky was controversially promoted to regional health minister of Omsk.

He was called out on Twitter by Mr. Navalny, 44, who said: ‘You lie, fake test results, are ready to please the bosses in any way – you get an award and a promotion.’

When Navalny returned to Russia, he was immediately arrested. He was jailed in February for parole violations, on what he says were politically motivated charges, and sent to a penal colony.

Chelsea beats Manchester City 2-1 in a flash !

Aguero had a glorious chance to make it 2-0 from the spot moments later when Billy Gilmour fouled Gabriel Jesus but the Argentina striker opted for a dinked effort that was easily saved by Edouard Mendy.

It proved a costly miss, as Chelsea improved after the break and equalised when Cesar Azpilicueta set up Hakim Ziyech to fire home from the edge of the area.

The visitors had two more efforts ruled out for offside before Marcus Alonso won it for them in injury time, meeting Timo Werner’s pull-back and sending the ball looping over Ederson.

This was Chelsea’s second win over City in the space of three weeks, following their victory in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley in April.

The two sides will meet again in the Champions League final in Istanbul at the end of this month. BBC

This result can only give Chelsea extra confidence for that game, as well as providing a big boost to their hopes of a top-four finish, but in truth this encounter offered few clues to how their next meeting will be decided.

City boss Pep Guardiola made nine changes to the side that beat Paris St-Germain here on Tuesday, while his Chelsea counterpart Thomas Tuchel made five – and the result was a disjointed performance from both sides.

Bishop Oyedepo warns his church members against taking COVID19 vaccine, “take anointing oil instead”

Bishop David Oyedepo, the senior pastor of the Living Faith Church International (Winners Chapel), has adviced his members not to take the COVID19 vaccine.

The clergyman who has always expressed doubts about the COVID19 pandemic, said this during the 40th-anniversary thanksgiving service of the church in the Ota Cathedral in Ogun State on Sunday, May 9.

Speaking to his members, Oyedepo said

“Let me warn you against this deadly thing circulated round the country, because it has not been duly tested. An elder of this church, who works with the World Health Organisation, confirmed this, thanking me for always speaking the truth about the authenticity of the COVID-19 vaccine,” he said.

He said vaccinators went to churches to get people vaccinated, adding that it is an “insult,” and assault to enforce vaccination on anyone.

“What an insult! What an assault! Nobody has the right to enforce vaccination on you, and anybody cannot terminate your employment because you refuse to take the vaccine, my God will show up (for you). Did I tell anyone I am sick? Don’t let anyone harass you into doing what you don’t want to do” he said

Oyedepo also alleged that the side effects defeated the benefits of taking the vaccine.

“They wanted Africa dead. I heard them say it. When we didn’t die as they proposed, they brought out this vaccination scheme. You need to hear their proclamation that Africa will lack spaces to bury corpses. But, today, reverse is the case. Africa has the least casualty among all the other continents of the world” he said

He asked his followers to take a shot of anointing oil in place of the COVID19 vaccine.

The arrangement between Melinda Gates, her husband, Bill Gates and Bill Gates ex. Girlfriend, Ann Winblad?

Bill Gates’ marriage to his estranged wife Melinda Gates certainly featured many undulations on its way to their pending divorce after 27 years.

In fact, in the Gates’ relationship, the tech honcho was allowed by his wife to spend time with an ex-girlfriend thanks to a built-in arrangement Bill had with Melinda French prior to the now-former pair exchanging nuptials in Hawaii in 1994.

The negotiated consideration said that he and software entrepreneur and venture capitalist Ann Winblad would be able to jet off on annual weekend getaways with each other to pick each other’s brains and bask in the old times they shared while creating new memories of their own, this according to a 1997 Time magazine profile on the Microsoft co-founder.

Gates said at the time that he had actually sought approval from Winblad before he made the plunge and proposed to Melinda.

“When I was off on my own thinking about marrying Melinda, I called Ann and asked for her approval,” he said of the woman he bonded fondly with over their mutual love of all things science, adding that Winblad, whom he often played “putt-putt while discussing biotechnology” had given Melinda a favorable evaluation.

“I said she’d be a good match for him because she had intellectual stamina,” Winblad – who dated Gates exclusively from 1984 until their split in 1987 – recalled in the piece.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Winblad carries an impressive jacket and has held several posts within Silicon Valley, including runs as Director at companies such as Central Point Software, Hyperion, Net Perceptions, Intrinsa, Liquid Audio, The Knot, Marketwire, Krillion, Inc., Star Analytics, SVForum, Karmasphere, Voltage Security, MuleSoft, Sonatype, Ace Metrix and her current position of nearly 32 years at Hummer Winblad Venture Partners.

“Even now, Gates has an arrangement with his wife that he and Winblad can keep one vacation tradition alive,” Walter Isaacson wrote in the 1997 feature. “Every spring, as they have for more than a decade, Gates spends a long weekend with Winblad at her beach cottage on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where they ride dune buggies, hang-glide and walk on the beach.”

Also among their intellectual conversations, the pair would “marvel about how, as two young overachievers, we began a great adventure on the fringes of a little-known industry and it landed us at the center of an amazing universe.”

What’s more, is Gates and Winblad were ahead of their time in the idea that their initial “dates” were virtual as the par weren’t physically together, thus the close-knit connection would be fostered through their discussions of modern films that they each would watch at the same time in whatever city theater was playing the title.

In the Times piece, Isaacson even referred to Gates and Winblad as “kindred spirits.” In a 2005 interview with the San Francisco Chronicle, Winblad recalled how Gates “wasn’t such a big deal” when she started dating him.

“And there was a period of time when my net worth was higher than his, and I had to pay for everything. It was a very short period of time, but it was memorable,” she quipped.

Winblad later told the Silicon Valley Business Journal in 2013 that Gate oozed confidence and she grew fond of his drive to be best.

“Bill and I went for a walk on a beach, and Bill tells me, ‘I can see my way, if I really squint, to $500 million in revenue,” she recalled. “Bill was a great influence on me, and I was thinking, ‘Wow, you can actually build a company that big in the software industry? Are you kidding me?’”

The philanthropist and wealth coach added of Gates: “I remember making him take a stick or a rock and drawing the numbers out on the sand for me. How was he going to get there? He then said, ‘What troubles me is I can’t see how I am going to get past $500 million.’”

“I thought, ‘You’re troubled about that?’” Winblad maintained. “I was jazzed that someone could think their way through to $500 million. There was a lot of inspiration from each other back then because there was so little collective wisdom.”

Gates and Winlad’s escapades read like your run-of-the-mill romantic comedy.

In 1996, Winblad told the story of a trip the pair took to Cabo San Lucas for a spontaneous weekend, explaining to Wired magazine that once the two arrived in Mexico, “it was hard to get a rental car, so when we finally got one, it was like this beat-up old Volkswagen, and it was Spring Break.”

“So we get a hotel. It’s a sh–ty hotel, but that’s fine because we’re doing this on a whim, and it’s part of the adventure. I leave Bill outside while I check-in,” she recalled at the time.

“Well, I go outside and I say, ‘Where’s the car?’ He goes, ‘I sublet it.’ He rented the car to some teenagers for five dollars a day!” Winblad exuded. “He gave them the car keys and says, ‘We’re in room whatever. Just knock on the door and give us the keys back.’”

“Sort of like ‘I’m Bill Gates; here’s the rental car; here are the keys to our room.’ I’m going, ‘We’re never going to see that car again. These are teenage boys.’”

“He says, ‘You’re probably right.’ … We finally got it back at about two in the morning, and it was all in one piece.”

Other stories of the ex-pair that do not involve Melinda was a trip to Brazil in which Gates, the science nerd brought along a 1,100-page textbook on molecular biology — and the duo studied it together, Time magazine said in their 90s feature piece.

Another included a trip to a ranch in Santa Barbara, Calif., and Winblad supplied tapes of famed physicist Richard Feynman so the couple could listen and digest.

Gates would go on to admit in the same piece that Winblad “brings a sense of enjoyment and humor to even the most serious situations. ”Her professional approach reminds me a lot of Warren Buffett. She is incredibly smart,” said Gates, a longtime friend of billionaire Berkshire Hathaway founder Buffett.

Gates broke the news to the world on Monday that he and Melinda were calling it quits after being married nearly three decades.

The couple said the reason for their dissolution rests on the fact that “we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in the next phase of our lives.”

“Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives,” a tweet from the former pair reads and adds, “We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together at the foundation.”

Throughout their 27 years as man and wife, the Gates would welcome three children: Jennifer, Rory and Phoebe and would also start their widely philanthropic Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in 2000.

The pair currently share a net worth of more than $130 billion.

Winblad did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.

Melinda Gates, the estranged wife of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates had been meeting with her divorce lawyers since 2019

Melinda Gates, the estranged wife of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, was reportedly meeting with divorce lawyers since 2019 following reports of links between her husband and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Citing sources close to the situation, The Wall Street Journal reported that Melinda Gates began working with lawyers from multiple firms two years ago.

One source who is a former employee of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation told the Journal that one concern Melinda Gates had was Bill Gates’s association with Epstein.

The Journal reported that Melinda Gates and her advisers held several calls in October 2019, around the same time when The New York Times released a report detailing the multiple meetings her husband had with Epstein, who committed suicide in prison two years ago.

A spokesperson for Bill Gates said at the time that the meetings were to discuss philanthropy and that he regretted ever meeting with Epstein.

When reached for comment by the Journal, a representative for Bill Gates told the outlet that he stands by his previous statements regarding Epstein.

A former employee of the couple’s foundation told the Journal that Melinda Gates expressed her discomfort with Epstein after she and her husband met with him in 2013.

By March 2020, the couple were already discussing how they would divide their immense wealth, the Journal reported. Melinda Gates’s legal team includes Robert Stephan Cohen, who also represented Michael Bloomberg and Ivana Trump in their respective divorces.

The May 3 divorce filings show that the couple agreed to separate their assets according to a separation contract, the Journal reported. Their assets include a $131 million home compound in Washington state, a rare Leonardo da Vinci notebook, and investments in Microsoft and Four Seasons Hotels.

The couple announced their plans to divorce last week, saying in a statement that they had come to this decision “after a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship,” adding they can no longer “grow together as a couple.”

In court documents, Melinda Gates said her marriage to Bill Gates was “irretrievably broken.”

A New York man who confessed to killing his mother, also sexually assaulted her – Prosecutors say

A New York man who confessed to the gruesome slaying of his mother sexually assaulted her as he beat and strangled her, prosecutors revealed Sunday night, May 9.

Pushkar Sharma, aged 28, from Queens, told police he woke up the morning before Mother’s Day “with an uncontrollable urge to hurt someone,” according to a criminal complaint.

About 8 a.m. Saturday, he went down to the basement of the family home on Winchester Blvd. near Braddock Ave. in Bellerose Manor and attacked his mother, prosecutors said.

Sharma allegedly approached his 65-year old mother from behind, wrapped his hands around her throat, and started choking and punching her in the face. She struggled for several minutes as the horrific attack continued.

Sharma then allegedly sexually assaulted his mother and choked her until she lost consciousness.

“he continued choking her until he was pretty sure she was dead,” the criminal complaint alleges.

Covered in blood, Sharma picked his wallet and keys and walked to the 105th Precinct, where he confessed to the unimaginable violence, the complaint read.

Medics rushed her to Long Island Jewish Hospital, but she could not be saved.

“What should have been a celebration of Mother’s Day became a brutal, tragic nightmare for a Queens family,” Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said Sunday.

A neighbor of the accused known as Kelvin, said he knew Sharma had mental health problems, but he was stunned at the slaying.

“The family was really nice and friendly. I am shocked to know that the son could’ve done this,” he said.

He recalled a past incident when neighbors called police because Sharma was acting erratically.

“So, it’s not the first time. He’s been in trouble before,” Kelvin said. “You can clearly tell that he has some mental health issues. When he had the cops called on him previously, people said that he was not on his medications. Perhaps, the same happened this time around.”

Pushkar Sharma was arraigned Sunday afternoon, May 9, on murder and sexual abuse charges. He was held without bail, and his next appearance in court is scheduled for May 24.

A British millionaire’s fiancée shot dead by his ex-girlfriend has come out to claim that a business rival ordered his killing and fears she may be the next target

The fiancée of a British millionaire shot dead by his ex-girlfriend has come out to claim that a business rival ordered his killing and fears she may be the next target.

Maria Korotaeva, 27, said husband-to-be, Andrew Bush, had received death threats in the weeks leading up to his murder.

British millionaire's fiancée shot dead

She alleged a business rival of her husband to be who was into jewelleries could have ordered the killing.

The businessman’s former lover, Mayka Kukucova, 31, waited in his bed at his Spanish villa before fatally shooting him three times in 2014.

British millionaire's fiancée shot dead

She escaped to her home country, Slovakia but was caught and then jailed for 15 years in May 2016 which was later reduced to 13 years’ imprisonment.

But Maria, who was set to wed the businessman before his death, now claims she thinks Kukucova was instructed to carry out the killing when Bush started planning to establish a jewellery business in London, The Mirror reports.

British millionaire's fiancée shot dead

In a new tell-all book, Maria says:

“A couple of weeks before his murder, Andy was in Germany at a jewellers conference.

“He came back really upset, saying that someone – a rival entrepreneur, I think – was threatening him because of his plans.

“We think Mayka was told if she did the murder she would get three or four years.”

According to Maria, Bush had proposed to her at dinner on the night of his murder.

He then drove her home in his £60,000 gold-plated Humvee 4×4, unaware that swimwear model Kukucova was lying in wait armed with a .38 revolver.

When they found Kukucova in Bush’s bed, he told Maria to go to the car and phone the police, after Kukucova refused to leave.

But, an argument broke out between Bush and Kukucova, then Maria heard three gunshots – and later found her partner in a pool of blood.

She shot Bush three times – twice in the head.

Maria, a businesswoman from Russia thinks the killing by Kukucova was a hit and now fears her own life could be at risk.

“I’m now worried she may come find me when she gets out. God knows what she is thinking. What is in her head?” she said.

“It’s already been seven years. There’s not very long left until she comes out.

“I’m worried that she may come and find me. What stops her? Nothing. You can find me easily because of my social media.”

Maria said she nor Bush reported the threats made to him to the police because “they didn’t take them seriously” at the time.

The inquest at Avon Coroner’s Court in Bristol, ruled that Bush was murdered by Kukucova.

Over 125 firefighters battle huge house fires in London (videos)

About 125 firefighters with 20 fire engines from London Fire Brigaid are attempting to put out a huge blaze which has broken out at a block of flats in east London.

Emergency crews reportedly rushed to the New Providence Wharf development, near Canary Wharf, shortly before 9am on Friday morning.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, though the flames are understood to have engulfed at least three floors of the building.

Parts of the 8th, 9th and 10th floors have been affected by the fire. Several people have been treated by the Ambulance Service.

A London Fire Brigade spokesman said: “Twenty fire engines and around 125 firefighters have been called to a fire at a block of flats on Fairmont Avenue in Poplar.

“Firefighters are tackling a blaze at a 19-storey block. Parts of the eighth, ninth and 10th floors are alight.

“The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers have taken 13 calls to the fire.

“The Brigade was called at 0855. Fire crews from Poplar, Millwall, Shadwell, Plaistow, Whitechapel, and surrounding fire stations are at the scene.

“The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.”

All residents of the apartment block have been evacuated.

One local, who lives on the tenth floor, said she was alerted to the fire by the neighbours’ Whatsapp group.

She said: “They just said ‘fire’ and posted updates and photos. There is no fire alarm or sprinklers in the apartments.”

The resident added: “People were stuck on their balconies and shouting for help. Horrible.

“The fire is out so we have come back in now. I’m just hoping there are no casualties.”

It comes almost four years after 72 people were killed when the block in west London went up in flames following a kitchen fire in one of the flats.

South Africa proposing a new marriage law that will allow women marry more than one man

South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs has proposed a new law that will allow women marry more than one husband, in the same way that polygamous men are allowed to marry more than one wife.

The 67-page policy document also called Green Paper on Marriages, stated that the current marriage act does not promote equality.

The policy document highlighted that the current marriage legislation is discriminatory as it does not recognise Hindu, Jewish, Muslim and Rastafarian marriages. The policy document also called for polyandry to be legally recognised as a form of marriage.

The Green Paper proposed three new marriage regimes to bring equality in marriage laws. One of these options is a gender-neutral marriage regime.

It read;

“This would accommodate both polygyny and polyandry

“…Therefore all marriages, whether monogamous or polygamous, could be concluded regardless of the sex or sexual orientation of the person.”

South Africa’s Ministry of Home Affairs appears to favour the option for a gender-neutral marriage regime that allows both polyandry and polygyny. The Ministry wrote;

“The political appetite of the country to confront the challenges of the current marriage statute will be tested through these options. However, if Section 9 of the Constitution was to be implemented in its entirety, option 3 will tick all the boxes.”

The Ministry however noted that the option for polyandry has ruffled feathers and South Africa’s traditional leaders have vociferously opposed the proposal, claiming that a woman being married to more than one husband is an “unacceptable practise because it is not of African origin.”

It added;

“Ironically, stakeholders who believed in the practice of polygamy … were opposed to the practice of polyandry.

“This is the beginning of a crucial public discourse that will re-define the concept of marriage in South Africa.

“The process will unearth issues that may make some of us uncomfortable, but will encourage dialogue within the South African and international communities.”

South Africans have until the end of June to comment on the department’s proposals.

There were reports of ‘violence and drugs’ in AKA’s relationship with late fiancée, Nelli Tembe, – AKA responds (photos)

South African rapper, AKA, has issued a public statement in response to reports of alleged “violence and drugs” in his relationship with his late fiancée Nelli Tembe.

The statement comes after News24 released images where “AKA can be seen using his hands to violently break down a wooden door to enter the bedroom in their apartment in Bryanston, Johannesburg where Tembe was hiding”.

A close friend of Tembe, who spoke with the publication, said Tembe told her that the rapper smashed her face against a wall during a fight in their apartment after which she locked herself in the bedroom.

AKA

“She then sent me the video of the attack. AKA is so violent in the video that he breaks down the door of the room that Anele had locked herself in, whilst escaping his blows, with his bare hands. This is an attack that I want women to be shielded from.” the woman, who requested anonymity out of fear of intimidation, wrote in a statement to News 24.

AKA

The incident allegedly took place on March 13.

The friend has also provided the video to Cape Town police, who are conducting an inquiry into her death.

AKA

She said in a statement to police: In the past few weeks, following the passing of my close friend Anele Tembe, I have been meditating and seeking guidance on what it is that I am to do in order to exercise my rights and to deliver on my responsibilities as a young adult in a country that fails to adequately protest its women and girls. The responsibility that I have is towards the many women and girls in this country, especially young women such as myself, who remain impressionable.

AKA

“Anele Tembe, who was dating and later became engaged to Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes, was a victim of severe violence at the hands of AKA, Anele was on numerous occasions physically and emotionally abused by AKA. My beloved friend was a victim of gender-based violence (GBV). As women, we are too quiet about the abuse that is happening behind closed doors. We must speak out! I am today speaking out.”

AKA

According to the woman, Tembe recorded her fiance breaking down the door in their Bryanston apartment. He had allegedly smashed her face against a wall during a fight, and she ran to the bedroom to escape. Tembe allegedly gave the footage to her friend, who also came to her rescue after the attack.

“Anele, on many nights, south protection from those close to her whenever AKA, whom she said became extra violent whenever he had taken drugs, attacked her, We often picked up Anele from AKA’s house in the early hours of the morning following endless attacks on her by AKA.”the friend said.

“Anele reported the incident to me. She then sent the video of the attack, ” she added.

In one of the photos obtained by News 24, Tembe appeared in pain while placing ice packs on her body after allegedly being assaulted on March 13.

AKA

On Saturday afternoon May 8, AKA released a statement on Twitter, describing his relationship with Tembe as “beautiful, yet challenging, and saying he would not be drawn into exposing their troubles as a couple to defend himself against “one-sided views”.

He also slammed allegations that “drug use and incidents of violence” plagued the couple’s relationship, labelling the reports an “attempt to disparage his name and Anele’s character”.

“What makes it even sadder is the knowledge that some of the people, she and I loved and entrusted with our deepest troubles, are now using those as weapons to set a negative narrative on my character.

AKA

“I am a passionate and emotional person. What I will not do and stand for is watching people attempt to disparage my name and, importantly, Anele’s to suit a narrative we both never signed up for,” said AKA.

Nelli died on April 11 after apparently falling from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub hotel in Cape Town. Her death is being investigated by police.

At Nelli’s funeral on April 16, her father and prominent businessman Moses Tembe moved to set the record straight on circumstances surrounding her death.

“As Anele’s father, I categorically state that Anele was neither suicidal nor did she commit suicide. We must as a matter of priority deal with the scourge that bedevils our youth. Alcohol which is overused and drugs. Fellow South Africans we better wake up and smell the coffee, we have a serious problem with substance abuse.

“I cannot allow an unfortunate narrative to go unchallenged, a narrative that irks me to no end … that is ‘Anele was chronically suicidal’. All I can say is, until Anele turned 21, not a single member of her family, my family would have associated her with suicide,” he said.

Prince William and Prince Harry have been feuding for 18 months – ITV journalist

Prince Harry and Prince William have been feuding for 18 months, a friend of theirs who is an ITV journalist has said.

Tom Bradby, who was friends with Prince William and Prince Harry for 20 years before he was dropped by Prince William for “siding” with Prince Harry, claims the royal brothers have been arguing for the last 18 months.

Recall that Tom Bradby is the host of an ITV documentary filmed in South Africa in 2019 who asked Meghan Markle if she was OK and she responded: “Not many people have asked if I’m okay.”

Royal sources claim the host of ITV News at 10 sided with the Sussexes in the increasingly bitter “war of the Windsors” and Prince William now feels like he can no longer trust him.

It’s believed the royals have increasing anger towards Bradby and ITV for their support of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

However, Bradby defended his actions, claiming that it was through his own experiences with mental health issues that he knew the couple were struggling.

He said that he could not do his job without “a reasonable degree of empathy” and in the case of Meghan “I felt like there was an untold story there,” the Sun reports.

Royal aides were also reportedly not happy with Bradby and ITV News’ reporting on Harry and Meghan’s split from the royal family last year.

“It used to be quite a straightforward thing, right, because they weren’t arguing and life was simple,” he said.

“And then it just slowly descended into something that was difficult – personally and publicly – really over the past year and a half.”

Nigeria has been dragged 50 years backwards by APC – Governor Nyesom Wike

Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) which is the ruling party, has dragged Nigeria 50 years backwards due to its “abysmal performance.”

The governor said this when the Vice President of Rotary Club of Port Harcourt, Obiageli Ejezie, led other leaders of the association to the Government House, Port Harcourt, to confer on him the “2019/2020 Good Governance Award” for his outstanding achievements in project execution in Rivers.

Speaking to the delegation in his office, Governor Wike said in 2015, the APC convinced Nigerians that they were going to offer better governance than former President Goodluck Jonathan. He said going by the results of the APC since it came into power in 2015, Nigeria has only being retrogressing under the its leadership.

”There can’t be good governance without security and this is based on rule of law. All of us are living witnesses in 2015 when it was alleged that the government of former President Goodluck Jonathan could not perform.  So Nigeria needed a change. What has happened to the change? They have taken Nigeria back by 50 years”.
