British influencer Igho Ubiribo, known online as Tiny, Denisi, or Ego, died in Thailand on March 6 at the age of 43. Months later, details surrounding his sudden death have emerged.
Ubiribo had travelled to Thailand for a holiday and decided to undergo a cosmetic procedure known as penoplasty, which is intended to increase the size, diameter, or appearance of the penis.
According to an investigation by the Inner West London Coroner’s Court, Ubiribo received injections containing 40 millilitres of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine at a clinic. Shortly afterwards, he went for a massage with his wife, fashion designer Danielle Simba Allen.
During the massage, Ubiribo began complaining of chest pain and lost consciousness twice. He was rushed to hospital by ambulance, where he was initially conscious and able to answer questions. His wife told doctors about the injections he had received.
However, Ubiribo lost consciousness again before doctors could perform a CT scan.
Doctors determined that he had suffered a pulmonary embolism, a potentially fatal blockage of blood flow in the lungs, and transferred him to intensive care. Despite more than 100 minutes of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, he died in the early hours of March 6.
An autopsy carried out in the United Kingdom later found cellular material in his lungs consistent with the hyaluronic acid used in the injections. The coroner concluded that Ubiribo died from a pulmonary embolism caused by the cosmetic procedure.
Ubiribo was later buried in London in a gold coffin reportedly worth $745,000, reflecting the lavish lifestyle he frequently showcased on social media.
He had around 185,000 Instagram followers, owned a home in Los Angeles valued at approximately $1.1 million, and reportedly had a London apartment worth around $600,000. He married Danielle Simba Allen in Zimbabwe in 2022 in a ceremony reported to have cost approximately $473,000.
His death has since drawn attention to the potentially devastating risks associated with cosmetic procedures, even when they are intended to be relatively straightforward.
