German school teacher allegedly ‘murdered and ate a man he met on a dating site’

A German school teacher has been accused of cannibalism in Berlin over claims he allegedly murdered a man he met on a dating site before eating his remains.

The suspect, Stefan R, was arrested on Thursday, November 19th after fleshless human bones were found in a park before sniffer dogs led detectives to his apartment in the German capital.

Bild reports that investigations revealed that the 41-year-old had browsed cannibalism-related forums online and had previously asked the internet whether a person could survive after having their penis cut off.

German school teacher allegedly 'murdered and ate a man he met on a dating site'
victim

His alleged victim, 44-year-old Stefan Trogisch, had been reported missing by his flatmates in early September after leaving his apartment and failed to return.

After the pieces of leg bone were found in a park on November 8, police had two sniffer dogs that led investigators to Stefan R’s flat, where detectives found an empty wheelbarrow and a cooler.

Traces of the alleged victim’s blood were also found at the apartment after forensic tests, according to the Berliner Morgenpost, leading to Stefan R’s arrest.

The suspect has so far declined to answer questions.

Investigators are said to have obtained messages between the alleged killer and victim on a gay dating website, leading police to believe that they agreed to meet.

Detectives also found evidence from Stefan R’s internet history which suggested he was interested in cannibalism.

‘The suspect had an interest in cannibalism,’ said prosecutors’ office spokesman Martin Steltner. ‘He searched online for the topic.’

Authorities said the meatless bones found by pedestrians in the park raised suspicion that the flesh had been artificially removed.

‘Because of the completely fleshless bone, and other evidence, we strongly suspect that Stefan T was the victim of a cannibal,’ a police spokesman said.

Prosecutors said it was unclear whether the victim had also had an interest in cannibalism.

Police announced yesterday that the search for the missing Trogisch was now a murder investigation after tests showed that the bones belonged to him.

Stefan R, a maths and chemistry teacher at a secondary school, was arrested at his home on Wednesday and brought before a judge.

State prosecutors later announced that he had been remanded in investigative custody on suspicion of ‘sexual murder with a base motive’.

Trogisch, an electrical mechanic, who was known to use dating apps to meet male and female partners, didn’t tell his flatmates where he was going when he left his East Berlin flat on September 5.

British scientist creates face mask that ‘kills COVID-19 viruses’

A Nottingham Trent University scientist, Garreth Cave has invented a face mask that can ”kill viruses including COVID-19 and influenza upon contact.”

Mirror reported that while most face masks feature a three-layer design, this mask features five layers, including an antiviral layer made of nano-copper. It also has ions that are emitted once in contact with a virus, causing the virus to die and stop reproducing.

Dr Gareth Cave, who designed the mask said;

“The mask we’ve developed has been proven to inactivate viruses upon contact; the antiviral layer kills virus which has been blocked by the filter layers.

“The challenge with conventional surgical-type masks is that they only block virus from entering or exiting the mask. They don’t have an active mechanism for killing it once it’s trapped in the mask.

“Our new antiviral mask has been designed to utilise the existing barrier technology and combine it with our nanotechnology to kill the virus once it is trapped there.

“We’ve added the barrier layer to both sides of the mask so not only does it protect the wearer but also those around. By killing the virus on contact, it also means that the used face mask can be safely disposed of and not be a potential source of passive transfer.”

British scientist creates face mask that 'kills COVID-19 viruses'

During tests, the face mask was shown to be able to kill more than 90% of Coronavirus and influenza viruses over seven hours, and had a filtration efficiency of 99.98%.

The masks are expected to go into production this month, and will be commercially available from December for healthcare, transport and food service settings.

Cave added;

“It’s exciting to see our technology move forward and make a real impact towards the fight against the spread of COVID-19.”

‘We stand by our report’- CNN reacts to Nigeria Govt’s threat

Cable News Network, CNN has reacted to the threat of sanctions from the Federal Government over its investigative report on the October 20 shooting incident at the Lekki tollgate.

The international media house carried out an investigation into the incident and shared its findings on Wednesday, November 18.

At a press conference in Abuja today November 19, Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said the report by the media house was one-dimension and lacked balance. He called for the sanction of the media house.

In a statement released by one of its company spokesperson, CNN said it stands by its investigation.

“Our reporting was carefully and meticulously researched, and we stand by it. The report was based on testimony from dozens of witnesses, and photos and video obtained and geolocated by CNN. It painted a picture of how members of the Nigerian army and the police shot at the crowd, killing at least one person and wounding dozens more.

CNN verified photos and videos acquired from multiple eyewitnesses and protesters using timestamps and other data from the video files. Video footage shows soldiers who appear to be shooting in the direction of protesters. And accounts from eyewitnesses established that after the army withdrew, a second round of shooting happened later in the evening.

Prior to publishing the report, CNN tried multiple times to elicit comment from the Nigerian army and police. A Lagos State police spokesman declined to comment because of an ongoing investigation. While a statement from the Lagos State government said that there would be no comment while a judicial tribunal was underway.” CNN states

Trump lost all the 21 election fraud lawsuits they’ve filed since Election Day

Donald Trump after covid19

The Trump campaign and other Republican groups have mounted 21 legal challenges since Election Day, alleging “rigged” election marred by “major fraud” from Democrats.

However, Trump has won none of the lawsuits.

The lawsuits argue that states and counties have violated election laws.

Republicans have filed the lawsuits in local, state, and federal courts in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, and Pennsylvania — all states that Biden won or is projected to win, according to Decision Desk HQ data published by Insider.

The Trump campaign initially had a single win, when a Pennsylvania judge ruled on November 12 that first-time voters were supposed to confirm their IDs with county boards of election by November 9, rather than November 12. The decision opened the door to disqualify the ballots of people who didn’t verify their IDs in time. But the state Supreme Court later overturned that decision.

That leaves Trump and other Republicans with 15 cases they have withdrawn or lost, and 6 that are still pending.

Al-Qaeda’s Second-in-Command Reportedly Killed In Secret Operation In Iran

Al-Qaeda’s second-highest leader, accused of orchestrating the deadly 1998 bombings of two U.S. embassies in Africa, was killed by Israeli agents in Iran in August, The New York Times reported.

Abdullah Ahmed Abdullah, aka Abu Muhammad al-Masri, was gunned down by two men on a motorcycle on the streets of Tehran on August 7,The New York Times reported on November 13.

Masri was seen as a likely successor to Al-Qaeda’s current leader, Ayman al-Zawahiri.

Citing intelligence officials, The New York Times said Israeli operatives carried out the assassination at the behest of the United States.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry “strongly” denied the report and said there were no Al-Qaeda “terrorists” on Iranian soil.

“From time to time, Washington and Tel Aviv try to tie Iran to such groups by lying and leaking false information to the media in order to avoid responsibility for the criminal activities of this group and other terrorist groups in the region,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said on November 14, just a few hours after The New York Times story was published.

The United States had been tracking the movements of Masri and other Al-Qaeda operatives in Iran for years, but it was unclear what, if any, role Washington played in the operation, The Times reported.

Neither Iran, Al-Qaeda, the United States, nor Israel have ever publicly acknowledged the killing.

Masri was killed with his daughter, the widow of former Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden’s son, Hamza bin Laden, The Times reported.

Shi’ite Iran and Al-Qaeda, a militant Sunni extremist group, are enemies with opposing ideologies. U.S. intelligence officials say Masri had been in Iran’s custody since 2003 but had been living freely since at least 2015.

Some terrorism experts have speculated Iran has kept a few Al-Qaeda figures as an insurance to dissuade the group from carrying out attacks in Iran or for prisoner exchanges. The group may also be a useful card against the United States, a common enemy.

Iranian officials have denied providing Al-Qaeda sanctuary or support.

The Egyptian born Masri, one of Al-Qaeda’s founding leaders, was on the FBI’s list of most-wanted terrorists.

The bombings of the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998 left 224 people dead and more than 5,000 injured.

‘Having courage is a beautiful thing’ – Trump

Trump nominated again for the Nobel Peace Prize

US President, Donald Trump, has reacted after the Michigan Electoral board refused to certify results declaring Joe Biden as the winner in the state during the just concluded presidential election.

Republicans on Tuesday November 17, blocked the certification of results  in a party-line vote that threatened to temporarily stall official approval of Democrat Joe Biden’s win in the state.

According to the Republicans, Wayne County, Michigan’s largest county had irregularities, voting to make it a 2-2 tie.

Biden crushed Trump in Wayne county, a Democratic and Black people controlled stronghold, by more than a two-to-one margin and won the state by 146,000 votes, according to unofficial results.

Monica Palmer, a Republican, said poll books in certain Detroit precincts were out of balance. In response, Jonathan Kinloch, a Democrat, said it was “reckless and irresponsible” not to certify the results. “It’s not based upon fraud. It’s absolutely human error,” Kinloch said of any discrepancies. “Votes that are cast are tabulated.”

Democrats and election day experts condemned the certification block calling it a dangerous attempt to overthrow the will of voters.

The board met after days of unsuccessful litigation filed by Republican poll challengers and President Donald Trump’s allies. They claimed fraud during absentee ballot counting at a Detroit convention center but two judges found no evidence and refused to stop the canvassing process.

On Tuesday evening, Trump reacted to the certification block, calling it a beautiful thing, while also alleging the number of voters was more than the number of people who registered to vote.

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1328852354049957888

As at press time, the Republicans in the electoral board have changed their stance and have now all voted to certify the results.

The Board of State Canvassers has until Nov. 23 to certify Michigan’s statewide election results. Recount petitions for the presidential, Senate, U.S. House and State House seats must be filed with the Secretary of State within 48 hours after the board has certified the statewide results.

A change to Michigan’s recount process made after the 2016 presidential election requires candidates to prove they have a reasonable chance to win in order to initiate a recount. Biden won Michigan by a wide margin — more than 146,000 votes.

“I am tired of always being the problem at Barcelona” – Messi

Lionel Messi has revealed he is “tired of always being the problem” at Barcelona after receiving criticism from the uncle and former agent of club team-mate Antoine Griezmann last week.

Messi, one of the greatest players in football history was accused of implementing a “regime of terror” in Barca training by Griezmann’s former agent Eric Olhats.

The France international’s uncle, Emmanuel Lopes also criticized Messi, suggesting training sessions in Catalonia are designed purposely to please Messi.

Lionel Messi says he is ?tired of always being the problem at Barcelona

“[Griezmann] was convinced that he wasn’t going to be successful within the first six months, but what I didn’t expect was that it would last an entire year,” Emmanuel Lopes told El Chiringuito.

“Besides, with Messi, I know what’s going on inside [the club] – it’s not easy.

“Basically, [Messi] doesn’t work hard enough at Barca and the training sessions are structured in order to please certain people, which is fine if you don’t want to work [as hard].”

“Antoine needs to work, even though others don’t need as much effort to play well.”
“He’s the other way around – he needs to put in a lot of effort for himself.”

Messi has now responded to the criticisms.

“I am tired of always being the problem at Barcelona" - Messi

On Wednesday after Messi landed in Barcelona from international duty with Argentina, he hit back at Lopes and Olhats’ accusations and told reporters at the airport he is “tired of always being the problem”.

The 33-year-old said: “The truth is that I’m tired of always being the problem of everything at the club.”

Griezmann endured a frustrating debut season at Barca last season after sealing a £107million move from Atletico Madrid. He admitted at the end of last season that it took him a while to “get along” with Messi.

When recently quizzed on his relationship with Messi, the forward said: “It has been similar to me relationship with [Kylian] Mbappe, at first we did not meet through the passes and it took me a long time to get along with him.

“With Messi everything will be better”.

Man who had knife stuck in head resumes to work 3 days after the incident

A man who had a knife stuck in the side of his head in a viral video has gone back to work just three days after the ordeal.

Christopher Harker, also known as Haka, 38, from Cape Town, was seen in a viral video with a knife sticking out of his head. The video left social media users shocked, with many wondering if he had survived.

But not only did he manage to survive, he returned to work just days after the attack on November 11.

Explaining how the knife became stuck in his head, Mr Harker said to The Daily Voice: “A guy came out of nowhere, I felt a hard hit and started chasing him, then I realised I had a knife stuck in the right side of my head.

“I slowed down when I realised I might harm myself further. I tried to pull the knife out, but others told me to leave it and wait for an ambulance.

“I sat down and waited for the ambulance to arrive. When they arrived, I got into the vehicle myself and could still call my family to tell them I was on my way to the hospital.

“I walked into the hospital myself and people were looking at me in shock.”

Mr Harker soon returned to his job at T’s Liquor World in Rocklands Shopping Centre, where the attack took place.

This is not his first time having a close brush with death. A few years ago, he was declared dead after being shot multiple times.

He recalled: “Three years ago, I was shot seven times and I was told that I was declared dead on the scene. My family saw me with a white sheet covering my body.

“I was lying in the rain in the street. I then got up and walked into the house I was lying closest to.

“The ambulance arrived and strapped me to a board and rushed me to hospital.”

SAPS spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said Mitchells Plain police are currently investigating the incident.

Romelu Lukaku scored twice as Belgium beat Denmark 4-2

Romelu Lukaku scored twice as Belgium beat Denmark 4-2 on Wednesday to book a spot in the Nations League’s finals.

Roberto Martinez’s top-ranked team only needed a draw to qualify but signed off with victory that secured a five-point lead over Denmark and England in Group A2 – and ensured they joined France, Italy and Spain in next year’s finals.

Youri Tielemans and Kevin De Bruyne also netted for Belgium, though Thibaut Courtois’ own goal provided some late suspense.

Tielemans broke the deadlock inside three minutes when the Danes failed to clear a ball that the Leicester midfielder latched onto and fired into the bottom right corner.

A flash of brilliance from Christian Eriksen brought the visitors back in the match in the 18th minute. The Inter Milan player set up Martin Braithwaite with a fine long pass on and though the striker’s shot took a deflection, Jonas Wind headed home the rebound.

The goal injected confidence into Denmark and Braithwaite had another chance to score only to fluff his one-on-one with Courtois.

But Belgium reclaimed the lead in the 58th minute when De Bruyne fed Lukaku and the forward’s effort took a deflection to loop beyond Kasper Schmeichel.

Lukaku then scored his 57th international goal with 20 minutes left with a header from Thorgan Hazard’s precise cross.

Courtois’ own goal came after he failed to control Nacer Chadli’s back pass but the mistake did not prove costly as De Bruyne made sure of the win with a shot into the far corner.

Elsewhere in Group A2, England signed off from their Nations League campaign with a 4-0 win over 10-man Iceland, with two-goal Phil Foden playing a starring role.

Italy pip Netherlands to reach final four

skysports domenico berardi 5176644

Italy reached the Nations League’s final four by beating Bosnia & Herzegovina 2-0.

Andrea Belotti and Domenico Berardi scored in a game that Italy dominated to ensure they finished top of Group A1 and earned the right to host the Nations League finals in October next year.

Federico Bernardeschi also hit the crossbar late on with one of Italy’s numerous chances against a Bosnia side already relegated to League B.

Italy were beset with problems coming into the match, with coach Roberto Mancini and forward Ciro Immobile still out due to coronavirus, and several more players unavailable because of club quarantines and injuries.

But they dominated from the start and opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when Manuel Locatelli sent Lorenzo Insigne down the left flank and he crossed for Belotti, whose volley looped over Bosnia goalkeeper Kenan Piric.

Bosnia almost levelled shortly before half-time but Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma pulled off a great save at point-blank range to deny Smail Prevljak.

Insigne’s curled finish skimmed the outside of the far post and then Francesco Acerbis saw an effort flashed across goal and just wide of the right upright.

But the Azzurri finally doubled their lead in the 68th minute as Locatelli sent a ball over the top for Berardi to volley into the bottom right corner.

Elsewhere in the group, captain Georginio Wijnaldum scored a late winner as the Netherlands rallied from a goal down to beat Poland 2-1, handing new coach Frank de Boer back-to-back victories.

Kamil Jozwiak scored a scintillating solo goal to put Poland in front early, but Memphis Depay equalised for the visitors from the penalty spot, before Wijnaldum added to his two goals against Bosnia at the weekend to head home the winner.

Italy’s victory in Bosnia meant neither side could top the group, but the Netherlands finished second with 11 points from six matches, one behind the Italians, with Poland third on seven.

Prophet Israel Genesis sentenced to jail for fraud

Prophet Israel Genesis

Justice Olabisi Akinlade of the Lagos State High Court Abuja has sentenced popular Lagos-based clergyman, Prophet Israel Ogundipe aka Israel Genesis, for fraud.

Ogundipe, who is the Shepherd-in-Charge of Celestial Church of Christ Global Genesis parish, was arraigned before the court following a petition filed by a UK-based architect, Mrs Olaide Williams-Oni, who accused him of obtaining a total of N17m from her with the promise to help her procure some landed property.

In her testimony before the court, Williams-Oni had told the court that she met prophet Ogundipe in 2002 during her visit to Nigeria when she was taken to his church for prayers by her step-sister.

The presiding judge found the clergyman guilty of two of the seven charges brought against him and dismissed the remaining five over lack of evidence.

The judge sentenced Ogundipe, who was first arraigned in 2007, to one year’s imprisonment on each count but said the prison terms would run concurrently.

Isha Sesay, Former CNN Anchor, accuses the Nigerian government of ‘lying’

Isha Sesay

Former CNN news anchor Isha Sesay has called out the Nigerian government for the “lies” about what happened at the Lekki tollgate when peaceful End SARS protesters were shot at.

Ms Sesay, who has been actively keeping up with the End SARS protests and interviewing the key players, stayed with Nigerians on the night of the Lekki shootings, conducting virtual interviews and making efforts to let the world see what was going on in Nigeria.

Soon after the CNN documentary on the Lekki tollgate shooting was released, apparently proving that the military were at the toll gate on the night of October 20, 2020, Isha Sesay took to Twitter to call out the Nigerian government.

She tweeted: “These lies being told by the Nigerian authorities about what happened at Lekki tollgate are an outrage. People’s children can’t just be killed, without anyone being held accountable!”

DR Congo declares end to its Ebola outbreak

Ebola in DRC

The Democratic Republic of the Congo has declared an end to its 11th Ebola outbreak, nearly six months after cases were reported.

The DRC’s minister of health, Dr. Eteni Longondo, made the official declaration along with the World Health Organization on Wednesday after no new cases were registered in more than 48 days.

“I am pleased to solemnly declare the end of the 11th epidemic of Ebola virus disease in Equateur Province,” the Health Minister told a news conference.

In total, more than 55 deaths, 119 confirmed cases, 11 probable cases, and 75 recoveries were recorded, according to the WHO.

The outbreak announced on 1 June, which infected at least 130 people, emerged shortly before the country marked an official end on 25 June to the second-deadliest Ebola outbreak in history which killed more than 2,280 people.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who tirelessly tracked down cases, provided treatment, and vaccinated people in often remote communities tucked away in dense rain forests,’ the WHO’s Africa director Matshidiso Moeti said in a statement

Medics vaccinated 40,000 people in communities scattered across rainforests that often lacked electricity. They used cold-chain technology to keep vaccines at temperatures as low as –80 C, the World Health Organization (WHO) said.

“The technology used to keep the Ebola vaccine at super-cold temperatures will be helpful when bringing a COVID-19 vaccine to Africa,” Moeti added.

Moment doctors remove live fish from a fisherman’s throat (video)

A fisherman nearly died last month after he had a fish stuck in his windpipe.

The bizarre accident left the fisherman with speaking difficulties and shortness of breath as he was rushed to the emergency room of a hospital in Beni Suef, Egypt.

When doctors examined him, they noticed a fish was stuck at the entrance to the trachea, leaving just enough space for a little air to get through and prevent the man from suffocating before even reaching the hospital.

The doctors performed an endoscopic surgery and managed to extract the fish, which was still alive, according to El-Ain.

Moment doctors remove live fish from a fisherman

Dr. Ali Al-Hajri, the ear, nose and throat specialist who removed the fish from the patient’s throat, told Egypt’s Channel One television channel that if the man had been brought in only a few minutes later, he would have suffocated.

The operation was a success and apart from some minor bleeding, the patient is fine and should make a full recovery.

On how the fish got there in the first place, the 40-year-old fisherman from the village of Snur, on the banks of the Nile, explained to doctors that he had just caught a small fish when he noticed that the line of another fishing rod was pulling.

In a bid not to let his second catch get away, he quickly put the first fish in his mouth so he could free up his hand.

The live, slippery fish managed to wiggle its way out of the man’s bite and got stuck in his throat.

The Nigeria Army on Wednesday, November 11, launched the fourth batches of the wanted Boko Haram terrorists. Some of the names which appeared on the list include Abubakar Shekua, Abu Mus’an Al- Barnawwi, Modu Sulum, Umaru Tela, Iman Balge, Abu Umma, Mallam Bako(Hisbah), Abu Dardda, Ibrahim Abu Maryam amongst many others.

In a 30-minute video he released and was seen by HumAngle, Shekau boasted that nobody can arrest. Flanked by two of his members, Shekau said

“Nobody can apprehend me because I’m doing God’s work. He will protect me like those doing similar work and seeking His protection. I’m very sure God will protect my commanders. We are all doing God’s work.”

He vowed that the war would continue even after him.

“Arresting me will not stop the work we started. What confuses you is you think the religion is mine but it belongs to Allah,” he said.

Shekau mocked Nigerian military in the video, saying that they repeatedly told people that he was killed even though he was still alive. He attributed economic hardship in Nigeria to God’s vengeance against the country for its war against Boko Haram and it’s members.

Gareth Southgate wants Premier League to reconsider using five substitutions

Gareth Southgate

England manager Gareth Southgate wants the Premier League to reconsider its limit of three substitutions per match as injuries mount amid a congested schedule.

Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson have both withdrawn from the national squad ahead of their final Nations League group stage game against Iceland on Wednesday with fitness concerns.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said earlier this month it is “necessity” for clubs to have five substitutes per match in the Premier League, while Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola labelled the current three subs limit a “disaster”.

The English top-flight is the only major European league that decided against continuing with the system this season, used towards the end of the last term after the coronavirus pandemic truncated the length of the 2019/20 campaign.

“We were able to make five changes against Belgium, we made four in the end and clubs don’t have that option,” Southgate said.

“What will it take for that to change? There were a couple of less serious injuries against Belgium but what do we do? Wait until we get a load of really nasty ones?”

The Premier League is not expected to reintroduce the five-substitute rule this season despite some strong support from at least half of its clubs, following a survey of the clubs by Sky Sports News earlier this month.

Southgate, who is also unhappy at the lack of a winter break this season, said England had taken measures to try and help players recover physically but he worries the issue will persist if something is not done soon.

“I have to be fair to the club managers. They are their players firstly and they have the right to play them as they see fit,” he added.

“(Injuries are) a worry in the longer term because with no winter break, something has to give.”

Chelsea full-back Ben Chilwell was the latest England player to pick up an injury during Sunday’s 2-0 defeat in Belgium, which ended their hopes of reaching the Nations League finals.

University of California agrees to pay $73 million settlement to over 6000 women for damages

James Heaps

The University of California in the United States has agreed to pay $73 million to settle a lawsuit raised by several women, who alleged they were sexually abused by a former gynecologist employed by the university.

Patients have accused Dr James Heaps, 63, of misconduct throughout his the decades he worked at the university.

More than 6,600 patients of the accused, could receive a part of the payment even if they have not accused the former doctor of misconduct once a judge approves the settlement.

Heaps worked part-time as gynecologist at the student health center from 1983 to 2010, and was later hired by UCLA Health in 2014. His patients have alleged that he made sexually inappropriate comments during their appointments and touched women sexually during exams without wearing gloves.

The agreement filed Monday also asked the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) to undertake reform measures, including training on boundaries between students and lecturers, advertising of patient reporting options, compliance monitoring and probes into possible misconduct allegations.

Heaps was arrested in June 2019 and charged with sexual battery of two former patients in 2017 and 2018. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Following his arrest, and the rise of the MeToo movement, several other women came forward with sexual allegations against the doctor.

Since then, the university says Heaps saw about 5,000 patients during his career at UCLA in addition to an estimated 1,600 women, whose records are no longer available.

Patients can seek amounts of $250,000 or higher in certain cases and the settlement does not require Heaps to acknowledge any wrongdoing.

“The incidents described in the lawsuit reflect alleged conduct that is contrary to our values,” UCLA Health said Monday in a statement.

“We thank the individuals who came forward and hope that this settlement – which is still subject to court approval – is one small step forward for the patients involved.”

The settlement is separate from criminal charges against Heaps, whose medical license has been suspended.

He has pleaded not guilty to the charges involving seven women and denied wrongdoing.

He is to appear in court on December 7.

A county in Georgia uncovers 2,700 missing votes during recount

Biden n Trump

2700 missing votes have been found in a county in Georgia, one of the battleground states Joe Biden won in the just concluded Secretary election, the Secretary of State’s Office has announced.

This is the second county in the state to have found missing votes, since the electoral audit in the state started after US president Trump requested a recount and started legal proceedings stating that the election was rigged.

During the hand recount on Tuesday November 17, Fayette County uncovered 2,755 votes that were not included in the initial count. Secretary of State official Gabriel Sterling said those ballots were scanned onto a card, but those votes were never uploaded into the initial count. He says there were several backups designed to catch this issue meaning workers were responsible for not following procedure.

A county in Georgia uncovers 2,700 missing votes during recount

The news comes as Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, a Republican, has started firing back after more than a week of criticism from Donald Trump and Republicans.

Raffensperger says it was the president’s own attacks on absentee ballots that cost him the election in Georgia.

“He would have won by 10,000 votes. He actually suppressed, depressed his own voting base,” Raffensperger said to Channel 2 investigative reporter Justin Gray.

The Secretary of State added that some 24,500 Georgia Republicans who voted absentee in the June primary elections, didn’t vote in the general election.

“Those 24,000 people did not vote in the fall. They did not vote absentee because they were told by the president, ‘Don’t vote absentee it’s not secure.’ But then they did not vote in person,” Raffensperger said.

The deadline for the statewide audit is Wednesday at midnight.

Of the votes that are now being added to the total, 1,577 were for President Donald Trump, 1,128 for Joe Biden and the rest were for Jo Jorgenson or write-ins. Even with the recount, Biden still leads Trump by 12,929 votes.

Fayette is the second county to report an issue with missing votes. On Monday, Floyd County uncovered 2,600 votes that were missed during the initial count on election night. The Secretary of State’s office said it was human error and called for the elections director in the county to step down. An investigation has been opened in the county.

Those votes changed the margin by about 800 in favor of President Trump.

All counting in counties must be completed by midnight Wednesday so the state can certify its election results by Friday.

Nico Yennaris, former Arsenal midfielder becomes first naturalised Chinese footballer to play for China

Nico Yennaris

Former Arsenal midfielder, Nico Yennaris has changed his name to Li Ke after becoming the first-ever naturalised footballer to play for China.

The 27-year-old who was born in the UK to a Chinese mother gave up his British passport as the world’s most populated country prohibits dual nationality.

Since becoming the first-ever naturalised footballer to play for China, Yennaris has made five caps for his adopted nation. He has also changed his name to Li Ke to reflects that he’s now Chinese.

Speaking with SunSport, Li, who plays for Beijing Guoan, said: “To be honest, I’m not sure what the name means. I was given it when I moved here.

Ex-Arsenal youth star, Nico Yennaris changes name to Li Ke as he becomes first naturalised footballer to play for China

“I didn’t actually know my name had officially changed until I arrived. It was a bit of a surprise but I’m happy and proud to have a Chinese name.

“Everyone says it’s a decent name. Li is quite a common name in China. I’m used to people calling me it now.

“Some people still call me Nico. Some call me Li Ke but it’s more fans who will call me by my Chinese name.”

The former England youth star said it wasn’t a hard decision to waive his British citizenship.

He explained: “I was probably the most relaxed and most calm about it out of everyone. I think people around me were nervous because it hadn’t been done before.

“But my thinking was football-based: I was progressing and if that’s what it takes to play international football, let’s go with it.

“I just made my decision there and then. I didn’t really dwell on it. I wanted to play for China.”

He made his China debut in a 2-0 friendly win over the Philippines on June 7 last year.

Li, who is still embracing the Chinese culture is regularly spotted and asked for pictures by people who he says are always “polite and friendly”.

The footballer who spends much of his spare time exploring Beijing on his scooter, said: “It’s so big, you can always find somewhere new. You get a mix of the old and the new.

“When you go through certain areas, you see the history of the country with the architecture and the detail in some of the framework.

“Then you can drive half an hour in another direction and it’s like you’re living in 2024 with how modern it is.

“The way of living here is very relaxed, despite there being so many people. In London, everyone is head down, 100 miles an hour. It feels really busy but here it’s more relaxed.

“Buildings go up rapidly out here. You can definitely see and sense the feeling of growth within the country.”

George Clooney explains why he gave his closest friends $1m each

George Clooney

Hollywood actor, George Clooney has confirmed a longstanding rumor that he was able to give 14 of his closest friends $1million each in cash.

In GQ’s Men of the Year issue, the 59-year-old who is worth over $500 million stated that he gave 14 of his closest friends who have helped him in one way or another, $1m each via suitcases full of cash in 2013, after his close friend Rande Gerber first revealed his generosity in 2017.

At that time, Gerber also revealed in an interview that Clooney also paid all the taxes on the money he gave to them.

Speaking in an interview with GQ, Clooney said: these friends were all guys “who’ve all, over a period of 35 years, helped me in one way or another. I’ve slept on their couches when I was broke. They loaned me money when I was broke. They helped me when I needed help over the years. And I’ve helped them over the years. We’re all good friends. And I thought, you know, without them I don’t have any of this.”

He said he got all his friends together to share his gift with them before he got married to his wife, Amal Clooney.

And I said, ‘How do you repay people like that?’ And I said, ‘Oh, well: How about a million bucks?’ And the fun part about it was: That was the 27th, the 28th of September. A year later, on the 27th of September, just by happenstance, was the day I got married.”

Joe Biden to receive briefing from diplomatic, intel and defense experts

US President-elect, Joe Biden, is to receive a national security briefing today according to a transition official, reports say.

According to new reports, Biden’s national security briefing will come from a team of diplomatic, intelligence, and defense experts.

Biden’s briefing on Tuesday November 17, will not be an official US government national security briefing, according to reports.

Joe Biden to receive briefing from diplomatic, intel and defense experts**

The report of Biden’s imminent briefing comes as he is yet to receive classified intelligence briefings from President Trump who has refused to concede the electoral race and blocked his administration from taking any of the administrative steps typically taken in a transfer of power.

The administrative steps to be taken whenever power is to be transferred includes allowing the General Services Administration to declare that there is a president-elect, a move that triggers the transition process and frees up funds and permits intelligence briefings for the president- elect.

“They’ll discuss readiness at the relevant agencies as the president-elect prepares to lead on day one,” a transition official said to the Washington Post.

Speaking to reporters in Wilmington, Delaware, Biden said Vice president-elect Kamala Harris continues to receive intelligence briefings in her role on the Senate Intelligence committee.

“The good news here is my colleague is still on the intelligence committee, so she gets the intelligence briefings. I don’t anymore,” Biden said.

“So that is, but there is a number of Republicans calling for that. I am hopeful that the president will be mildly more enlightened before we get to January 20.”

Israel asks CNN’s Christiane Amanpour to apologize for demeaning Trump

Christiane Amanpour

Israel has demanded that CNN and it’s International anchor, Christiane Amanpour apologize after she compared US President Trump’s four years in the White House to Kristallnacht – the deadly night at the start of the Holocaust .

During Kristallnacht, the “Night of Broken Glass,” Nazis terrorized Jews throughout Germany and Austria on Nov. 9-10, 1938. They killed at least 91 people and vandalized 7,500 Jewish businesses. They also burned more than 1,400 synagogues, according to Israel’s Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial.

Amanpour said during a segment over the weekend, commemorating 82 years after Kristallnacht,  that the event “was the Nazis’ warning shot across the bow of our human civilization that led to genocide against a whole identity and, in that tower of burning books, it led to an attack on fact, knowledge, history, and proof.”

She added “After four years of a modern-day assault on those same values by Donald Trump, the Biden-Harris team pledges a return to normal.”

Israel did not take her comment lightly and the government has now asked her to apologize.

Israeli Minister of Diaspora Affairs Omer Yankelevich said that CNN “should be a partner in the global effort to fight anti-Semitism and not fuel the fire,” The Jerusalem Post reported.

“Using the memory of the Holocaust for cheap headlines or a political agenda is concerning and distorts the historical and moral truth,” Yankelevich added.

In a letter sent to CNN executive vice president Rick Davis, Israeli Consul-General in Atlanta, Anat Sultan-Dadon detailed the historic significance of Kristallnacht before lambasting Amanpour for disrespecting those who perished by using the Holocaust for political means.

Transgender Teen born with male genitalia and raised as a boy gets pregnant after discovering ovaries

A teenager who was born with male genitalia and raised as a boy has become pregnant just a year after finding out she has working ovaries.

Despite thinking she was a male, Mikey Chanel, 18, discovered she had, not just ovaries, but also a uterus, cervix and fallopian tubes.

Doctors and family were stunned when she was born because as a foetus Mikey was revealed to be a girl. However she arrived with male genitalia and was then raised as a boy.

But the teen always felt “he” was different when compared to male peers.

“It was obvious to everyone that I was different right from the start,” said Mikey, who lives in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

“At age five I’d be playing with my aunt’s purses and putting on my mum’s lipstick.

“I never felt like a boy. I was quite effeminate and I never really went through a whole ‘boy puberty’ thing.

“I only have a tiny bit of facial hair. I’ve always had a feminine-shaped body, with hips and a butt.”

Mikey came out as gay aged 13, and later wondered if she might be transgender.

The truth was only revealed by accident last year when Mikey was undergoing some routine tests at the hospital.

“I had been having a weird feeling after peeing and after sex, so they did an ultrasound of my urinary tract,” said Mikey.

“They told me that I had a cervix, ovaries, uterus and fallopian tubes and that I could get pregnant if I wanted to.

“I actually thought it was a joke. I didn’t even know this was possible. I was like ‘haha where are the cameras’? Then they showed me my uterus on the screen.”

Mikey was diagnosed with Persistent M llerian duct syndrome (PMDS), a rare condition in which a person has male external genitals, with female reproductive organs internally.

Doctors advised Mikey to have an immediate hysterectomy.

Mikey added: “People with PDMS are susceptible to cancer and tumours and the risk is lessened if you have a hysterectomy.

“My male parts came back infertile, but I was told that my ovaries were functioning.

“I was in a state of shock for a couple of weeks, then I realised that I wouldn’t be able to have a child, unless I carried it myself, and soon.

“I always knew I wanted to be a parent. I used to play with baby dolls when I was little and I’ve always seen kids in my future, so I decided, ‘it’s now or never I have to try and get pregnant’.”

Mikey underwent a series of fertility procedures, including ICSI, where donor sperm is injected directly into a woman’s egg to create a fertilised embryo.

Fertilsed embryos are then placed in the fallopian tubes during a laparoscopic procedure called ZIFT.

The three fertilised embryos were implanted into Mikey’s fallopian tube via an abdominal cavity because she does not have a vaginal opening.

Mikey, who is now four months pregnant, said: “I was told there was only about a 20 percent chance it would work, but it worked. I was so shocked, but happy. I can’t wait to be a parent.”

Transgender Teen born with male genitalia and raised as a boy gets pregnant after discovering ovaries

Mikey has been prescribed estrogen to help with the pregnancy and she hopes to continue to transition further after the baby is born.

“I feel more like a woman now than ever,” she said.

Mikey is speaking out about her experiences to raise awareness of PMDS and help people understand that it is a normal medical condition that could happen to anyone at birth.

image 21

She also wants to break social stigmas related to gender nonconformity.

“Nobody really speaks about this, most people have never even heard of it,” Mikey said.

“There isn’t a lot of research about it and there aren’t a lot of tests, often it’s found accidentally, like in my case.

“I feel like there should be more research, I’m just trying to educate people about it. Once people understand it could break a really big stigma with gender and within LGBT communities.”

Michelle Obama not happy with Trump for refusing to respect the electoral process outcome

Michelle Obama and Trump

Michelle Obama has weighed in on Donald Trump and Melania Trump’s refusal to move forward with a transition of power to the incoming administration.

The former US First Lady reflected on where she was four years ago and how angry she felt that Trump had won.

She stated that despite the fact that he had spread racist lies about her husband and put her family in danger, she and Obama invited the Trumps to their office and shared all they’ve learnt with them to help make their transition smooth.

She wrote: “This week, I’ve been reflecting a lot on where I was four years ago. Hillary Clinton had just been dealt a tough loss by a far closer margin than the one we’ve seen this year. I was hurt and disappointed—but the votes had been counted and Donald Trump had won. The American people had spoken. And one of the great responsibilities of the presidency is to listen when they do. So my husband and I instructed our staffs to do what George and Laura Bush had done for us: run a respectful, seamless transition of power—one of the hallmarks of American democracy.

“We invited the folks from the president-elect’s team into our offices and prepared detailed memos for them, offering what we’d learned over the past eight years.

“I have to be honest and say that none of this was easy for me. Donald Trump had spread racist lies about my husband that had put my family in danger. That wasn’t something I was ready to forgive. But I knew that, for the sake of our country, I had to find the strength and maturity to put my anger aside. So I welcomed Melania Trump into the White House and talked with her about my experience, answering every question she had—from the heightened scrutiny that comes with being First Lady to what it’s like to raise kids in the White House.

“I knew in my heart it was the right thing to do—because our democracy is so much bigger than anybody’s ego. Our love of country requires us to respect the results of an election even when we don’t like them or wish it had gone differently—the presidency doesn’t belong to any one individual or any one party. To pretend that it does, to play along with these groundless conspiracy theories—whether for personal or political gain—is to put our country’s health and security in danger. This isn’t a game. So I want to urge all Americans, especially our nation’s leaders, regardless of party, to honor the electoral process and do your part to encourage a smooth transition of power, just as sitting presidents have done throughout our history.”

Breakthrough ! Moderna unveils a new covid19 vaccine nearly 94.5% effective

A new vaccine by Moderna that protects against Covid-19 is nearly 95% effective, the biotech firm has revealed, making it the second vaccine in the United States to have a high success rate.

Moderna  received its results on a call on Sunday afternoon from members of the Data Safety and Monitoring Board, an independent panel analyzing Moderna’s clinical trial data.

An interim analysis based on 95 patients with confirmed Covid infections, found the candidate vaccine has an efficacy of 94.5%, the company announced on Monday, November 16th. In the analysis, 90 of the patients received the placebo with the remaining five the vaccine.

The company said its vaccine did not have any serious side effects. A small percentage of those who received it experienced symptoms such as body aches and headaches.

The results suggest the vaccine significantly reduces the risk of people testing positive for coronavirus or getting sick with Covid-19.

The company also said they are set to apply to the US regulator, the Food and Drug Administration, for authorization of its vaccine soon after it accumulates more safety data later this month.

“These are obviously very exciting results,” said Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease doctor. “It’s just as good as it gets — 94.5% is truly outstanding.”

Fauci says he expects the first Covid-19 vaccinations to begin “towards the latter part of December, rather than the early part of December.”

“It was one of the greatest moments in my life and my career. It is absolutely amazing to be able to develop this vaccine and see the ability to prevent symptomatic disease with such high efficacy,” said Dr. Tal Zacks, Moderna’s chief medical officer.

This comes days after Pfizer announced that early data show its vaccine is more than 90% effective against the disease.

“I won the election” – Trump

Trump going for covid treatment

US President, Donald Trump has continued to attack the legitimacy of the just concluded US Presidential elections.

Several media agencies have called the result for Biden, projecting he won the 270 electoral college votes required but Trump has refused to concede.

Trump, in the last two weeks has challenged the results of the election, alleged voter fraud while Biden has started to work on transitioning into the White House, with zero assistance from the incumbent.

On Sunday November 15, Trump supporters organized a ‘Milliom March for Trump’ in Washington DC, protesting the election result while alleging the election was stolen from Trump.

A counter protest by Biden supporters also occurred leading to clashes between both sets of supporters on sme Sunday.

Trump accepted Biden won the election in a tweet that was deleted immediately but in a set of early morning tweets on Monday, November 16, Trump acknowledged ‘he won’ the election.

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1328152462331699202

In  tweets that were flagged as ‘misleading’ by Twitter, Trump also questioned why the Democrat controlled media will assume Joe Biden will become president when the election was rigged.

Trump wrote; “I won the election”

In another tweet he wrote;

“Why does the Fake News Media continuously assume that Joe Biden will ascend to the Presidency, not even allowing our side to show, which we are just getting ready to do, how badly shattered and violated our great Constitution has been in the 2020 Election.

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1328200072987893762

It was attacked, perhaps like never before! From large numbers of Poll Watchers that were thrown out of vote counting rooms in many of our States, to millions of ballots that have been altered by Democrats, only for Democrats, to voting after the Election was over, to using Radical Left owned Dominion Voting Systems, turned down by Texas and many others because it was not good or secure, those responsible for the safeguarding of our Constitution cannot allow the Fake results of the 2020 Mail-In Election to stand.

The World is watching!

“72 million votes for Donald Trump means to me” – Barack Obama

Trump and Obama

Former US President Barack Obama has revealed what the election results in which Donald Trump got 72 million votes, means to him.

Even though the US presidential race has been called for Joe Biden by several media houses, Trump has refused to concede, making Biden’s transition even harder.

Both candidates got over 70million votes, and to Obama, the first and only Black president of the US, says it shows just how deeply divided the country is.

"72 million votes for Donald Trump means to me" - Barack Obama

“What it says is that we are still deeply divided. The power of that alternative worldview that’s presented in the media that those voters consume — it carries a lot of weight,” Obama told CBS News’ Gayle King in an interview that aired on CBS .

Asked by King if that worries him, the former President responded, “Yes. It’s very hard for our democracy to function if we are operating on just completely different sets of facts.”

Obama has done a series of interviews before he releases the first volume of his memoir, “A Promised Land,” which will be available November 17.

Obama, in the CBS interview defended his active campaigning for President-elect Joe Biden, his former vice president, saying circumstances warranted his public criticism of his successor, something that former presidents don’t do.

“It is not my preference to be out there,” he told King.

“I think we were in a circumstance in this election in which certain norms, certain institutional values that are so extraordinarily important, had been breached.

” That it was important for me, as somebody who had served in that office, to simply let people know, ‘This is not normal.'”

The formal transition between the Trump administration and the incoming Biden-Harris administration is likely to remain on hold until the election is certified by a Trump appointee within the General Services Administration in a process known as ascertainment.

During a separate interview with CBS’ Scott Pelley that aired Sunday evening on “60 Minutes,” Obama slammed Republican officials for backing the President’s false claims of election fraud sayinh the allegations endangered democracy.

“We would never accept that out of our own kids behaving that way if they lost, right? I mean, if my daughters — in any kind of competition — pouted and — and then accused the other side of cheating when they lost, when there was no evidence of it, we’d scold ’em,” Obama said.

Presidents, he maintained, are “temporary occupants of the office, by design.”

“And when your time is up then it is your job to put the country first and think beyond your own ego, and your own interests, and your own disappointments,” Obama said.

“My advice to President Trump is, if you want at this late stage in the game to be remembered as somebody who put country first it’s time for you to do the same thing.”

Speaking on the importance of a peaceful transition with Gayle King, Obama similarly said that “it’s a temporary job. We’re not above the rules. We’re not above the law. That’s the essence of our democracy.”

Asked what advice he would give Biden, Obama pledged to help him in “any ways that I can.”

“I’m not planning to suddenly work on the White House staff or something … Michelle would leave me,” he joked of the former first lady.

“She’d be like what? You’re doing what?”

Although, Trump has frequently attacked Obama, Obama says he does not take them seriously.

“There are many things he says that I do not take personally or seriously, although I think they can often be destructive and harmful,” Obama told King.

Peru’s President Manuel Merino resigns following the death of two protesters

Peru’s interim president, Manuel Merino has resigned less than a week into his new administration after protests calling for his removal left two dead and dozens injured.

In a short televised address on Sunday November 15, Manuel Merino said he’d acted within the law when he was sworn into office as chief of state on Tuesday, despite protesters’ allegations that Congress had staged a parliamentary coup after his predecessor, Martin Vizcarra was removed over bribery allegations, which he denies.

“I want to let the whole country know that I’m resigning,” Merino said, a day after a police crackdown on protesters in Peru left at least two people dead.

“I, like everyone, want what’s best for our country,” he added.

The decision came after a night of unrest in which dozens of protesters took to the streets to protest against Merino following the removal of his predecessor, Martin Vizcarra, who was impeached on Monday, November 9.

During the protest, many were injured from blunt force, tear gas, or projectiles that rights groups say came predominantly from police using excessive force to quell the protests.

The largest march in Lima attracted thousands of people, with police using tear gas fired from helicopters to disperse protesters who were threatening to march towards the Congress building.

Human rights groups reported that 112 people had been hurt and the whereabouts of 41 others were unknown. Health authorities said the dead included Jack Pintado, 22, who was shot 11 times, including in the head, and Jordan Sotelo, 24, who was hit four times in the thorax near his heart.

Lewis Hamilton wins Formula 1 title, the 7th time

Lewis Hamilton has made history with his seventh Formula 1 title win on Sunday November 15.

The British superstar became the most successful racing driver ever with a masterful victory in the Turkish Grand Prix, equalling Michael Schumacher’s achievement in terms of titles, after already surpassing the German’s number of race wins last month.

Lewis’ victory at the teacherously wet and slippery Istanbul Park track in a topsy-turvy race was the 94th of his career. The emotional driver who remains the sport’s only black driver, went on to describe what a hard journey it had been to become the most successful driver in the history of Formula One.

Lewis Hamilton wins Formula 1 title, the 7th time

He expressed hope of his success as a black man in an almost exclusively white sport, becoming an act of inspiration to children everywhere.

Once out of the car, he said;

“To all the kids out there, dream the impossible.

“Seven is just unimaginable but when you work with such a great group of people and you really trust each other, there is just no end to what can do together.

“I feel like I’m only just getting started, it’s really weird.”

He also wrote on Instagram;

Leading up to today and even after I crossed the line, I’ve been gathering my thoughts about what’s most important to me. This year has been so unpredictable. With the pandemic and obviously the season being pushed back by several months, I had the most downtime I’ve ever had in my life. It gave me the chance to really think about my ultimate purpose. Seven World Championships means the world to me, I can’t even describe how much, but there’s still another race we’ve yet to win.

This year I’ve been driven not just by my desire to win on the track, but by a desire to help push our sport, and our world to become more diverse and inclusive. I promise you I am not going to stop fighting for change. We have a long way to go but I will continue to push for equality within our sport, and within the greater world we live in.

Equaling Michael Schumacher’s record puts a spotlight on me that I know won’t be here forever. So, while you’re here, paying attention, I want to ask everyone to do their part in helping to create a more equal world. Let’s be more accepting and kinder to each other. Let’s make it so that opportunity is not something that is dependent on background or skin colour.

Nothing is impossible. A driving force for me this year has been to set an example for the next generation, to never give up on your dreams. I was told by many that my dream was impossible, yet here I am. I want you to know that you can do it too. Never give up, keep fighting, and let’s keep rising to the occasion. #S7ILLRISING

Peru’s President asked to resign after two protesters were killed

Peru’s interim president Manuel Merino is now under pressure to resign after violent crackdown on protests against his new government left at least two people and more than 60 injured.

Thousands took to the streets to protest against Merino following the removal of his predecessor, Martin Vizcarra, who was impeached on corruption allegations on Monday November 9.

The mostly young protesters gathered in various cities to oppose what they call a parliamentary coup against ousted president Vizcarra.  The largest march in Lima attracted thousands of people, with police again using tear gas fired from helicopters to disperse protesters who were threatening to march towards the Congress building.

Congress head Luis Valdez said in a statement to Channel N television;

“I ask Mr Merino to evaluate his immediate resignation.”

According to statement shared on the Congress’ Twitter account, it was gathered that lawmakers will meet in an emergency session at 8am (13:00 GMT).

The Ombudsman’s Office said the first fatality, a 25-year-old man, was killed by pellet shots to the head and face. The health ministry said 94 people were hospitalised with injuries sustained during the protests.

Police reported two deaths, while the National Human Rights Coordinator indicated it was investigating whether there were four.

France and Germany shine in Nations League

France and Germany rode

World champions France and Germany rode on the influence of their Chelsea stars to rack up Nations League wins on Saturday while Spain’s Sergio Ramos missed two penalties on the night he celebrated a record-setting 177th international appearance.

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante scored just his second international goal as France defeated European champions Portugal 1-0 in Lisbon to secure a place in next year’s Nations League finals.

Kante was quickest to react to a rebound as he netted the winner on 53 minutes that clinched France top spot in their group.

France lead Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal by three points ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Sweden in Paris but are guaranteed first place by virtue of their superior head-to-head record.

Kante’s teammate at the English Premier League side Timo Werner scored twice on his return to Leipzig as Germany enjoyed a 3-1 win over Ukraine. about:blank

Werner spent four years at Leipzig before moving to London in the summer and he flourished in familiar surroundings at the Red Bull Arena despite the absence of fans.

The win leaves Germany undefeated in their last 12 games and top of their group, a point ahead of second-placed Spain with the sides due to meet in Sevilla on Tuesday.

Ukraine took an early lead when Roman Yaremchuk caught the German defence napping.

The hosts roared back with three unanswered goals by Leroy Sane and Werner, who scored either side of half-time, to seal a deserved win.

In Basel, Ramos missed two penalties as Spain needed a late equaliser from Gerard Moreno to draw 1-1 with Switzerland.

Ramos was making his 177th appearance to break the international appearances record for a European player, pulling clear of Italy’s Gianluigi Buffon, who has 176.

But it was a night to forget for the defender, who saw one spot-kick saved by Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer but backed himself to score a second, only to miss again with a dreadful attempted ‘Panenka’.

Ramos had previously scored 25 penalties in a row and his inaccuracy from the spot cost Spain, who will now have to beat Germany to reach the final stage.

Remo Freuler gave the Swiss a 26th-minute lead but they had Nico Elvedi sent off for conceding the second penalty with 11 minutes left.

Spain finally found an equaliser in the 89th minute as Moreno capitalised on a tiring Swiss defence by converting Sergio Reguilon’s cross.

Shadow of Covid-19

After losing all four of their opening games in the Nations League, Sweden finally found some form in Solna, beating World Cup runners-up Croatia 2-1.

The Swedes, whose coach Janne Andersson has been sidelined with coronavirus, were 2-0 up at half-time.

Juventus star Dejan Kulusevski opened his international account in the 36th minute when the 20-year-old controlled a long pass from Mikael Lustig before scoring.

Defender Marcus Danielson, who plays his club football in China with Dalian Pro, headed in the second from a corner in first-half stoppage time.

Danielson had the misfortune to put through his own goal with eight minutes left after making contact with an Ivan Perisic header.

Croatia had beaten the Swedes 2-1 in their first meeting but they arrived for the return without midfielder Marcelo Brozovic and defender Domagoj Vida, both of whom had tested for Covid-19.

The coronavirus pandemic, meanwhile, also saw UEFA on Saturday cancel Sunday’s match between Romania and Norway after Norwegian authorities banned the squad from travelling to Bucharest due to a Covid-19 case.

“The match cannot be played,” UEFA said on its Nations League website. Norway’s health minister had ordered the squad not to travel after full-back Omar Elabdellaoui, who plays for Galatasaray in Turkey, tested positive for coronavirus.

Trump finally admits Biden won US election the first time

Trump and family sees illness as a weakness

The  US President made the admission in a tweet along with more unfounded claims the vote was unfairly and deliberately stacked against him.

Donald Trump wrote of his soon-to-be successor: “He won because the election was rigged.

“NO VOTE WATCHERS OR OBSERVERS allowed, vote tabulated by a radical left privately owned company, Dominion, with a bad reputation & bum equipment that couldn’t even qualify for Texas (which I won by a lot!), the Fake & Silent Media, & more!”

It is a significant acknowledgement from Mr Trump, who despite losing both the Electoral College and popular vote has refused to follow tradition and accept the result.

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1327956491056279552

Donald Trump lost the 2020 US presidential election and Joe Biden surpassed the 270 electoral college votes required to be named president-elect.

Yet, at the time of writing, Trump is yet to formally concede the election or congratulate Biden on his victory and is now pursuing baseless claims of electoral fraud against the Democrats and attempting to file legal cases.

Last week Mr Trump became the first president since 1992 to fail to get re-elected, following projections Mr Biden had successfully swung the key states of Pennsylvania, Arizona and Georgia to win the White House.

Since then, the Republican incumbent has launched legal challenges and tried to undermine the validity of the result – but failed to produce any significant evidence of the mass ballot stuffing and voter fraud he is alleging.

World leaders and former presidents – including George HW Bush – have all treated the contest as finished, and sent their messages of congratulations to Mr Biden.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is among those to already be treating the former vice-president as the winner and a change of administration in January as inevitable.

Prophet Bushiri and wife violates bail condition, flees to Malawi from South Africa

Prophet' Bushiri and wife

The founder of Enlightened Christian Gathering church, Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary have fled to his native country Malawi from South Africa, amid the ongoing anti-graft case against them.

This is coming after the controversial millionaire preacher who is known for his “miracles” and wildly extravagant lifestyle and his wife were granted bail of R200,000 each by a Pretoria Central Magistrate’s court.

The couple and three others are standing trial for fraud and money laundering case worth R102 million. One of their explicit bail conditions was that they were not to leave South Africa. Their travel documents was handed over to an investigating officer after being barred from travelling anywhere in South Africa except within the Gauteng and North West provinces.

However in a statement released on Saturday November 14, Bushiri said they fled to Malawi as they feared for their lives. He also made a number of demands that need to be met before he can return to face trial in South Africa.

The statement read;

PROPHET BUSHIRI’S STATEMENT ON HIS ARRIVAL IN MALAWI

I would like to inform the general public that my wife, Mary, and I are temporarily in our home country, Malawi, because of safety and security issues since 2015. These matters have gotten worse after we just got both our bails.

There have been clear and evident attempts to have myself, my wife and my family killed and despite our several attempts to report to authorities, there has never been State protection.

Our coming to Malawi, hence, is a tactical withdrawal from the Republic of South Africa solely meant to preserve our lives.

These attempts have been heightened with recent spates of arrests and detentions that we felt the only way for us to clear our names before the law is to ensure that our lives are preserved. My wife and I strongly believe in our innocence but this cannot be proved if our lives are not preserved. We have to be alive to testify to our innocence.

As we stand here, we were arrested in 2019 on alleged money laundering charges and it’s getting to two years now without trial because the State is not ready to give it.

As we keep waiting for that trial to come, we were arrested again, kept in custody for over two weeks and we are not sure if we will face trial. Equally shocking is the fact that as we kept waiting to get the facts of the recent arrest, the State brought up immigration issues that they, not us, owe the public an explanation. But they want us to explain.

Against this background, we have come to a painful conclusion that what my wife and I have faced in the Republic of South Africa, since 2015, is purely persecution NOT prosecution.

What is shocking is that it was me who, in 2018, opened cases of extortion and intimidation against the officers who are, today, investigating, arresting and prosecuting me and my wife of these several allegations.

Obviously, there can never be independence and impartiality. It’s purely acts of open vengeance. This, I must say, clearly violates rules of natural justice which says justice must not just be done but be seen to be done.

As such, I want to make it clear, here, that our coming to Malawi is not an act of running away from being tried. Not at all.

All my wife and I want is to clear our names in a justice system that is fair, impartial and just. In this vein, I am calling for the following to be met by the Republic of South African authorities to ensure our fair, impartial and just trial.

1. First, I want the South African government to assure us of our safety and security whilst in South Africa.

2. Secondly, I want the South African government to assure us that our bail will not be revoked. Our right to fair trial entails that we have access to our lawyers all the time. Revocation of the bail defeats our right to a fair trial and also exposes us to further security and safety challenges.

3. Thirdly, I want the officers involved in investigating, arresting and prosecuting us to recuse themselves. As earlier said, this is the same team that I earlier lodged a complaint against and, also, opened cases against. I won’t have a fair trial with their continued involvement.

4. Fourthly, I want the South African State to see to it that all the issues I lodged and opened against these officers must be pursued to their logical conclusion before proceeding with our case.

5. Finally, I want the South African State to appoint independent and professional investigators and prosecutors who should make independent decisions on the cases we are allegedly accused of.

In this regard, I am requesting the Malawi government to liaise with the South African government to ensure that the above issues are met.

Once these five issues are met and I am assured of a fair, just and impartial trial, I am willing to avail myself before the South Africa justice system.

I am looking forward to that day because my wife and I have long waited for it to prove our innocence and clear our names.

I will hold a press briefing in Lilongwe, Malawi, and it will be aired on all media networks across the world soon.

Aljazeera reported that there are allegations of Bushiri fleeing South Africa with Malawi’s President Lazarus Chakwera, who was on a two-day official visit to South Africa and returned on Saturday. Chakwera’s spokesman, Brian Banda has however debunked the claim.

Banda said;

“The allegation that Prophet Shepherd Bushiri came on the same flight with the president is false.”
