North Korean hackers allegedly launches cyberattack on Covid-19 vaccine maker AstraZeneca

North Korean hackers are suspected to have carried out a cyberattack against British coronavirus vaccine developer AstraZeneca recently according to a new report by Reuters.

According to Reuters, North Korean hackers posed as recruiters on social networking site LinkedIn and WhatsApp in order to approach AstraZeneca staff, including those working on coronavirus research.

The suspected hackers then offered fake job offers to the company’s staff then sent documents — some using Russian email addresses — purporting to be job descriptions that were in fact laced with malicious code designed to give the hackers access to the victim’s computers, Reuters reported.

But the University of Oxford, working in conjunction with the drugmaker to develop a covid-19 vaccine said the university is working closely with the UK National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) to ensure protection of Vaccine materials and data

“Oxford University is working closely with the National Cyber Security Centre to ensure our COVID-19 research has the best possible cyber security and protection,” a university spokesperson told CNN.

Speaking to CNN, a member of staff of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s mission to the United Nations in Geneva said the Reuters report was “fake news,” alleging that the information had been “fabricated.”

The Reuters report comes after a South Korean lawmaker said the country had stoppef North Korean attempts to hack its own pharmaceutical companies working on Coronavirus vaccines.

Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. fought to a draw in one of the most impressive performances from the two during their exhibition clash which took place at the Staples Center on Saturday night, November 28.

The American boxing legends met in an eight-round pay-per-view exhibition bout, billed as “Frontline Battle. The pair displayed their boxing skills, power, and athleticism despite Tyson being the aggressive fighter throughout the clash.

The fight was Tyson’s first since losing to Kevin McBride in 2005 in his last professional outing. While Jones returned to the ring, two years after he retired from the sport. 

The unofficial judges for the clash were three boxing Hall of Famers; Christy Martin, Vinny Pazienza, and Chad Dawson. 

Martin scored the fight: 79-73 (Tyson), Vinny Pazienza: 80-76 (Jones) and Chad Dawson: 76-76 (draw).

After the result was announced, Tyson said: “I’m good with that. I’m good with a draw, because I entertained the crowd, the crowed was happy with it.

“I’m used to doing it for three minutes, sometimes like two minutes or three minutes.

“I hope to go further, absolutely, and he can be on the car as well. I was very happy to be here, despite what everyone says I was happy to go to eight rounds.

“Nobody thought I could go eight rounds, but you’ve got to go the distance, that’s boxing.”

Despite the lack of action, the iconic former champions said they ready to fight another day.

Suspected Boko Haram members have reportedly beheaded 43 farmers in Borno state.

According to HumaAngle, the attack happened on Saturday evening, November 28 in Zambarmari, a community that is less than 20km from Maiduguri, the state capital.

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum on Sunday morning, November 29, led kinsmen and other shocked residents of Zabarmari community for the funeral of 43 farmers slaughtered by suspected members of Boko Haram. 

Though the victims lived in Zabarmari, a farming community in Jere Local Government Area of the state famous for rice cultivation and local processing, they were attacked and brutally murdered on Saturday, at Koshebe village, in Mafa Local Government Area while working in a rice field.

Addressing the bereaved community, Zulum expressed his condolence over the gruesome killing of the farmers. 

“First of all, accept my deepest sympathy over this carnage, once again, that affects all of us and every human with conscience. I am told some persons are still missing. We have been discussing with the military since yesterday, Insha Allah the remaining people will be traced soon.” he said.

Teenager, claims to be Diego Maradona’s ‘lovechild’ demands for fresh DNA tests

A teenager who claims he is Diego Maradona’s lovechild has demanded that his body is dug up for DNA tests to prove his case. 

Santiago Lara, 19, instructed his lawyer to make the appeal less than 24 hours after the Argentine football legend was buried.

In a written request lodged at a family court in Santiago’s home city of La Plata, Buenos Aires, Santiago through his lawyer demanded Maradona’s autopsy, DNA results and the exhumation of his body so it can be transferred to a court morgue.

This follows a lengthy battle by Santiago, which began in 2014 when he was just 13, to find out the identity of his real father. 

Santiago, the supposed sixth child of a growing group of offspring previously spoke of the claims for the first time four years ago.

The teenager’s mother, waitress Natalia Garat, died aged 23 from lung cancer in 2006 following an alleged seven year on-off relationship with Diego, who officially has five children

The teenager has now instructed his lawyer to start legal action to prove he was Maradona’s son while the retired footballer was alive after failed attempts to reach an amicable settlement with his legal team.

Speaking during an interview with Telemundo programme Suelta la Sopa, Santiago said: ‘My mum sadly died when I was just three years old but days before her death, when she had to remove her ventilator to speak, she told a group of lawyers I was Diego’s son.

‘I just want to know who I am. The financial side of things is not something that matters to me.

‘I know this demand is going to cause major turmoil in Argentina but if I don’t do this, who is going to give me the DNA?’ 

His lawyer, in another interview on an Argentinian TV show which he attended with a colleague, added: ‘We’re talking about a young lad who has been left in the dark about who he really is.

‘Santiago didn’t come here today because he’s suffering emotionally. Not only does he not know who he is but he couldn’t say goodbye to his father.’ 

The four-page document filed by Mr Nunez and his business partner, Juan Benitez, demands the exhumation and preservation of Diego Maradona’s body until DNA tests can be carried out ‘so Santiago Lara can obtain his true identity.’ 

It says the teenager found out about the former footballer’s death through the media and it caused him ‘great pain, worry, suffering and anguish.’ 

The document, submitted to La Plata Family Court Number Seven, adds on the third of the four pages: ‘We ask you to submit through the chain of custody, the detailed results of the autopsy and lifeless body of Diego Armando Maradona.

‘We request the sealing of the coffin containing Diego Armando Maradona’s body so it can be transferred to La Plata’s judicial morgue for its preservation.

‘We ask that Jardin Bella Vista Cemetery receive the order to exhume the remains of Diego Armando Maradona so they can also be transferred to the same morgue.’ 

Santiago told local media in a video interview he learned Maradona was his alleged father when he was 13. ‘I found out after I went past a newspaper stand near my house and saw a magazine front cover with Maradona’s face on it and mine pixelated underneath,’ he said.

‘I was left in a state of shock because I didn’t know what I was doing in the magazine. I went running home and asked Marcelo what was going on and he explained everything.

‘He told me my mum was well-known on the modelling circuit when she was younger and he told me he had the feeling I wasn’t his son.

‘He told me a DNA test was asked for but was never forthcoming.’ Late last month, around the time of Diego’s 60th birthday, Santiago and his lawyer revealed they had initiated legal action to try to prove the family link.

The former Barcelona and Napoli star died of a heart attack aged 60 on Wednesday, November 25, just two weeks after being discharged from hospital for a bleed on his brain.

The Argentina icon and 1986 World Cup winner was buried at the Jardin Bella Vista cemetery, in Buenos Aires province, where his parents were also buried. The private ceremony which held on Thursday was attended by family and close friends.

Maradona was married to his first and only wife, Claudia Villafané, 58, with the pair, said to have met when Claudia was just 17. 

The couple was married for more than 20 years with two children, daughters Dalma and Giannina, but divorced in 2004. Diego has at least three other kids – with unconfirmed rumours of more.

Dead man wakes up in mortuary in pain when morgue worker cut open his leg whilst preparing to embalm him

A man in Kenya who was allegedly declared dead by doctors came back to life three hours later while workers at a morgue were preparing to embalm him.

32-year-old Peter Kigen was presumed dead on Tuesday, November 24, after he collapsed at home and was rushed to Kapkatet hospital in Kericho county, according to local media.

After being transferred to the morgue, Mr. Kigen shocked the staff as he suddenly woke up and wailed in pain as they made an incision on his right leg.

Kigen, a resident of Kibwastuiyo village in Bureti Constituency, who reportedly suffers from a chronic illness, is said to have collapsed while at home before his family took him to hospital

His younger brother told Standard newspaper that a nurse had told him the patient had died before they arrived at the casualty department.

“When I went back to the casualty department at around 7.45 pm, I learnt my brother was dead. A nurse told me that he died long before we arrived at the hospital,” Kipkurui said.

He added: “The nurse later handed me a document to take to the mortuary attendant before my brother’s body was moved to the morgue.”

While at the morgue, one of the workers was said to have made an incision on the man’s right leg to infuse formalin as part of the process of preserving the body.

It was then Mr. Kigen suddenly regained consciousness and reportedly began to wail in pain, leaving the staff shocked with some running for their safety as they thought the dead man had ‘resurrected.’

Kigen, who spoke from his hospital bed yesterday, said he was shocked to learn that he was thought to have died and even taken to the mortuary.

“I cannot believe what just happened. How did they establish that I was dead?” he said.

He also vowed to dedicate his life to evangelism once he’s discharged from hospital. 

“I did not even know where I was when I regained consciousness, but I thank God for sparing my life. I will serve him for the rest of my life,” he said.

The hospital’s medical superintendent Gilbert Cheruiyot told another version of the story. According to him, Kigen was in critical condition when he was brought in.

Dr Cheruiyot said: “His relatives presumed he was dead and did not even wait for certification of death. They moved him to the mortuary, on their own.”

He said the clinical officers at the casualty were busy attending to other critically ill patients when Kigen was brought in, including an epileptic and a diabetic patient.

“They asked Kigen’s relatives to give them some time but they accused the clinicians of taking too much time and decided to take him to the mortuary. It was while the mortician was getting ready to embalm his body that she noticed some signs of life,” said Cheruiyot. 

He said the mortician informed the team at the casualty department which took Kigen back and begun resuscitating him. The process took three hours before the patient was stabilised.

“The patient was later taken to the ward and is responding well to treatment. We hope to discharge him in a few days,” Dr Cheruiyot said yesterday.

Fast food delivery driver, 52, found guilty of raping a woman in UK

A takeaway delivery driver in the UK has been found guilty of raping a woman he lured into his car before carrying out the horrific attack.

52-year-old Naiem Malik Suleman offered the 22-year-old woman a lift in his car after she had split up from her friends on a night out on January 19, 2019. But instead of taking her home, the court heard that he raped her.

Later, when she arrived home following the attack in Coventry, she had on a jacket bearing the logo of the delivery firm Suleman worked for. She also had bruising around her neck and scrapes and scratches on her, Warwick Crown Court heard.

Suleman, of no fixed address, denied the charge but forensic evidence from her clothes linked him to the rape and he was convicted at Warwick Crown Court.

DC Becci Jones, from the force’s Public Protection Unit, said: “It saddens us that throughout this case Suleman denied raping the woman – meaning she also had to endure a court trial.

“But with the support of our specially trained officers she remained strong and resilient and with her help we have now secured his conviction. We hope that this will bring her some comfort and wish her well for the future.”

Suleman remains remanded in custody for sentencing in January 2021.

Covid-19 vaccine will be delivered to UK hospitals in few days time

According to reports emanating from the UK, the new covid-19 vaccine could be given to  National Health scheme (NHS) staff in the next ten days before it is rolled out to care home residents and the over-80s.

According to the Guardian, the NHS England expect to get stocks of vaccines produced by Pfizer/BioNTech on December 7, 8 or 9.

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) said in September that elderly people living in care homes and their staff should be vaccinated first but the new reports state that medical staff could get the vaccine first.

The report claims that the decision to vaccinate NHS staff first was determined based on the nature of the Pfizer vaccine, which cannot be safely transported to care homes and private homes.

The Guardian report also adds that NHS officials believe that the vaccine will become unstable and ineffective if it is moved more than four times.

Using it at hospitals first means it will have only been in transit twice from the Pfizer production plant in Belgium to storage centers in Britain, and to hospitals where it can be administered.

One senior hospital executive told the Guardian: “We’ve been told to expect the vaccine on December 7 and plan to start vaccinating our staff all that week.


“However, it’s the Pfizer vaccine we’re getting, so it can’t be moved again once it gets to us and we then have to use it within five days, as that’s its shelf life.

“The original plan was to do care homes first. But once the vaccine gets to us it can’t be used in the community, so only NHS staff will be able to have it, at least initially.”

An executive at another hospital said to Guardian: “Officially the assumption is that the government will follow the JCVI’s advice. But in practice the NHS will vaccinate NHS staff with the Pfizer vaccine, and pretty quickly, because of its short shelf life. So it will be NHS staff who get it first.”

Barcelona agree slash salaries by €122 million (£110m/$146m) over the next three years

Barcelona football club have reached an agreement with their playing squad to slash salaries by €122 million (£110m/$146m) over the next three years, the club has announced.

The club has been forced to make cuts to their budget after La Liga authorities imposed a lower salary cap upon the club last week, so the club could offset financial difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, the club announced it will still pay out €50 million (£45m/$60m) per season during the three year period on wage packets.

La Liga president Javier Tebas brought in the financial measures to reduce spending by clubs since income streams have reduced due to the ban of supporters from stadiums amid the ongoing pandemic.

After weeks of negotiations with key figures such as Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann and coach Ronald Koeman, Barca have now confirmed their new financial road map.

“Today, the parties have reached an agreement in principle that allows an adjustment to salaries for the current season,” the club confirmed Friday, November 27, in a statement.

“[This is] for an amount of €122 million [in] fixed remuneration, which is added to the deferral for three years of variable remuneration from this season [onward], budgeted at an approximate figure of €50 million.

“This principle of agreement is pending ratification in the coming days by the group of players and coaches affected.

“The agreement, if it is ratified, will be a milestone of great importance to redirect the current economic situation.

“That both parties recognise the great effort that has had to be made to reach this principle of agreement, [they should] congratulate themselves for it.”

Asylum-seeker from Gambia who joined a UK school as 15-year-old now looks like ’40’

An asylum-seeker who joined a Coventry school claiming to be a 15-year-old boy but ‘looked like a 40-year-old’ with his receding hairline, has stopped attending classes after October half-term.

Parents at the school in Coventry reportedly raised concerns after the asylum-seeker student, who appeared to be a balding, adult male – joined the school in October. 

The asylum-seeker is said to have moved to the UK from Gambia, West Africa. 

The Home Office launched an ‘urgent investigation’ into the matter after the city council wrote to parents to reassure them about the situation. 

The pupil is said to have not returned to classes after October half-term, according to The Sun newspaper.

One parent said: ‘The general feeling among parents is that they are bemused and untrusting. Parents have been told that sharing images of children is wrong and is a form of bullying, they’ve not been told what action was taken.’  

Photos of the student were posted on Facebook after one schoolgirl shared the images in a private Snapchat questioning his age.

The girl’s mother said she was then called into school to discuss the issue with teachers and that they were concerned sharing photos of the new classmate amounted to bullying.

She told The Sun: ‘I said, ‘You can’t really blame the children [for talking about it] – he looks about 40’. They sort of nodded and said, ‘Yes – we did have concerns but we’ve been told that he is in fact Year 11 age’.

‘I just felt a bit annoyed that the school was trying to shut down my daughter. I said, ‘I’m all for encouraging free speech and I don’t agree that it was bullying as such.’ 

She added: ‘The school has said it’s inappropriate for us to question his age. There’s absolutely no way this boy looks 15. He looks about 40 to me.’

Another parent told Metro: ‘Pupils were coming home saying there’s a man in our class, some were even saying they reckoned he could be aged up to 40. 

‘He has a thin hairline and apparently he has no birth certificate or passport. He might be the right age, he might not. Either way parents would like some clarity.’

Coventry City Council was forced to send a letter to parents after the pupil took his place in classes.

Sarah Mills, head of education entitlement at Coventry City Council, said in the open letter: “When pupils arrive in England and present an application for a school place, we – local authorities and schools – are obliged to process these applications.

“If there are concerns or doubts regarding a pupil’s age at the time of application, schools and local authorities are able to ask for further evidence in the form of birth certificates and passports.

“However, please note, on some rare occasions if pupils arrive as asylum seekers and alone, i.e. without parents, these may not always be available.

“I am able to confirm [the school] follows all of these procedures and always seeks the city council’s support in such matters.

A school spokesperson later told The Sun they had been able to verify the student’s age – but couldn’t reveal how.

IPOB members who malhandled Ekweremadu in German have been convicted by German court

Four members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) who attacked former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, have been convicted by a German court. 

Recall that Ekweremadu was beaten up by the secessionist group members in Nuremberg at an event organised by “Ndigbo Germany” in 2019. 

The four IPOB members were prosecuted for physical assault and sentenced to 20 days of labour “without pay” in August 2020, but it went completely under the radar.

No IPOB member was deported as claimed on social media, but it was gathered that two of the attackers filed an appeal against their conviction but later withdrew it. Under section 102 (1), chapter 3, of the German criminal code, attacks against organs and representatives of foreign states are punishable with fines and imprisonment. 

A source told The Cable; 

“It was only the four persons identified that were sentenced to 20 days of labour without pay. The sponsors were not identified so they were not prosecuted.”

Although Ekweremadu could institute a civil case against the attackers, a source close to him told the publication that has no interest in the issue even though he is aware of the conviction.

United Kingdom plans to regulate Google and Facebook

The U.K. government said Friday, Nov 27, that it plans to create a Digital Markets Unit (DMU) to enforce “a new code to govern the behavior of platforms that currently dominate the market, such as Google and Facebook.”

The aim is to protect smaller competitors and give consumers more control over personal data.

Under the new code, some of the world’s biggest tech companies may have to be more transparent about the services they provide and how they use consumers’ data. They may also be forced to give consumers a choice over whether to receive personalized advertising, and they won’t be able to place restrictions on customers that make it difficult for them to use rival platforms. 

The DMU, which will be part of the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), will start work in April 2021.

The government said the DMU may be given the power to suspend, block and reverse decisions made by large tech companies. The DMU could also order them to take certain actions to achieve compliance with the code, and impose financial penalties for non-compliance, the government said.

Digital Secretary Oliver Dowden said in a statement: “I’m unashamedly pro-tech and the services of digital platforms are positively transforming the economy — bringing huge benefits to businesses, consumers and society.

“But there is growing consensus in the UK and abroad that the concentration of power among a small number of tech companies is curtailing growth of the sector, reducing innovation and having negative impacts on the people and businesses that rely on them. It’s time to address that and unleash a new age of tech growth.”

Britain’s announcement comes as US tech giants are facing increasing scrutiny around the world over their power and as other countries step up their regulatory powers.

“Our new, pro-competition regime for digital markets will ensure consumers have choice, and mean smaller firms aren’t pushed out,” said Business Secretary Alok Sharma.

The measures are due to come into force after Britain goes it alone at the end of a post-Brexit transition period from the European Union.

Next month the EU is to present its own major legislation called the Digital Services Act, which will set out rules for strict oversight over big tech.

Google reacted by saying it wants to “work constructively” with the new regulator.

Facebook said it remains “committed to working with our UK industry partners to find ways to support journalism and help the long-term sustainability of news organisations.”

It is preparing to launch its Facebook News service in the UK, which works with news media and includes original reporting.

Mom dies after saving her children from their burning house (photos)

A mother-of-five is being praised as a hero after she tragically died moments after saving her children from a horrific house fire in Russia. 


The fire started late at night on Wednesday when the family were sleeping in the city of Yakutsk, far east Russia.

Gulnara Kostelnyuk, 31, was killed in the blaze when the burning ceiling collapsed on top of her, Mail Online reported.

Moments before she died, the woman managed to evacuate her children, aged under 14, from the burning property and took to them safety. 


Firefighters who responded to the fire incident said the fire started in the kitchen from a heating stove and quickly tore through the wooden house blocking the exit.


The property was engulfed in flames and filled with thick smoke when Gulnara’s older son, 14, was awakened by thirst and alarmed his mother, according to local reports.

After realising they were trapped in a burning room, Gulnara rushed to a window and broke the glass. She helped her older son to climb outside through the window then passed him his four younger siblings.


After evacuating her kids, she was killed when the burning ceiling collapsed on top of her just before she could escape from the building.

Reports said her body was found by a crew of firefighters, who were called to the scene by neighbours.


One of the children, a nine-year-old girl, was admitted to intensive care with burns and carbon monoxide poisoning. Her condition is moderate, doctors said.

The other children, two boys, aged six and one, and a four-year-old girl, received cuts to their faces and limbs.


Gulnara’s devastated husband Aleksey Kostelnyuk was at work when the fire burst.

He told local media: ‘My wife had been taking care of our children. I don’t know how we will handle it without her.’

The victim’s older sister Anastasia told: ‘My mother called me about 4am. She told me that Gulnara was gone.

‘We told the younger kids that she is in a hospital. We do not want to traumatise them.

‘The older boy is still in a state of shock. His mother died in front of him. He does not speak and does everything automatically.

‘Next week he goes to a psychologist.’

He added: ‘I also was a really heavy drinker, especially after I lost my dad to cancer in 2014, my drinking began to spiral out of control.

Weighing 17st 10lbs currently, Nathan describes himself as a fitness freak as he is excited to wake up every morning for a 5k run or to get out on his bike for a 35-mile cycle.

Nathan said: ‘I have completely turned my life around. Being slim is completely alien to me, I feel like a kid at Christmas, I am just so excited about everything now.

‘I have gone from “biggie” to “slender” and I have won Cambridge’s male slimmer of the year award. It’s mad.

‘My whole life was built around living up to this “biggie” persona and making terrible unhealthy choices, but now I have regained my identity and live my life, without having to say “I can’t’ to everything”.’

Diego Maradona’s lawyer and agent requests for more investigation over his death

Matias Morla, the agent and lawyer for late football legend Diego Maradona, has called for an investigation into his death, alleging ambulances took longer than half an hour to arrive at Maradona’s house on Wednesday, November 25, after the Argentine legend suffered cardiac arrest.

Maradona, 60, died of a heart attack on Wednesday at his private home outside Buenos Aires and six ambulances reportedly responded to his residence.

But according to Morla, all the ambulances took more than 30 minutes.

Posting on Twitter in a Spanish written statement, Morla called the delay by emergeny services “criminal idiocy” .

Napoli to rename the San Paolo stadium after late Diego Maradona

Napoli are set to rename the San Paolo stadium after the late Diego Maradona. 

The Argentina football legend, who was the manager of Argentinian club side Gimnasia passed away aged 60 on Wednesday, November 25th, after suffering a cardiac arrest in his home country. 

An autopsy report said he died in his sleep after suffering heart failure, only two weeks after leaving the hospital following surgery to remove a blood clot on his brain.  

Medics also detected dilated cardiomyopathy, a medical condition in which the heart muscle becomes weakened and enlarged and cannot pump enough blood to the rest of the body.

Maradona, regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, was the inspiration for Argentina’s World Cup success in Mexico in 1986, winning the Golden Ball as the tournament’s best player.

He also led the country to the final of the 1990 tournament in Italy although his international playing career ended in shame when he failed a drug test at the 1994 World Cup in the United States.

He played club football for Boca Juniors, Napoli, and Barcelona among others, and was adored by millions of fans for his football talent.

During his time with the Italian side, Napoli, he won the Serie A title in 1987 and 1990, along with an Italian Cup in 1987 and a Uefa Cup in 1991 during a six-year stint in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Speaking with French sports channel RMC Sport on Thursday, November 26, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis said: “We can consider the idea of calling our stadium San Paolo-Diego Armando Maradona’ after the Argentine legend, who scored 115 times in 259 appearances for the club. 

“We can consider the idea of calling our stadium San Paolo-Diego Armando Maradona,” De Laurentiis told French sports channel RMC Sport.

“We are already putting it together this morning, taking the first steps to dedicate Naples stadium to Maradona,” De Magistris said.

“Its a process but it will be a quick process, because when there is such a strong desire there’s nothing that will hold us up.”

The Mayor added: “We’re hoping to make it coincide with the resumption of games with fans.”

The Argentina icon and 1986 World Cup winner was buried at the Jardin Bella Vista cemetery, in Buenos Aires province, where his parents were also buried. The private ceremony was attended by family and close friends.

Maradona’s daughters Dalma, 33, and Giannina, 31, by his first wife and childhood sweetheart Claudia Villafane, were pictured wiping tears as they left for the funeral.

Vladimir Putin’s child outside wedlock with housemaid becomes a multi-millionaire

According to a report emanating from Russia, a 17 year old girl known as Yelizaveta Vladimirovna, was born from a years-long affair between Russian president, Vladimir Putin and his housekeeper, Svetlana Krivonogikh.

According to investigative Russian news site Proekt, Putin, who was married at the time and Svetlana began their affair while she was a cleaner in the late 90s. As at that time Putin was the head of Russia’s Secret service, the FSB.

The report also adds that the pair are said to have split up shortly after daughter Yelizaveta was born in 2003.

The report goes on to say that Yelizaveta has no father listed on her birth certificate but bears a “striking resemblance” to the 68-year-old Russian strongman who has two other daughters with his ex-wife Lyudmila Shkrebneva.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has denied all knowledge of Svetlana or her daughter.

But information gathered by Proekt suggests Svetlana was born in St Petersburg in 1975, growing up in a modest apartment.

During the late 90s the housekeeper worked as a cleaning lady at a store close to her family home while studying at the University of Economics and Finance .

In 2000 she received her diploma, and soon after moved out of the apartment and into her new residence on the Kamenny Islands with her mother.The report adds that apartments on the Kamenny island are not for general sale and are occupied solely by those close to Putin, the site reports.

Around the same time she then got some valuable stocks with no benefactor listed on public records.

One of her biggest stock holdings is in Bank Rossiya, which reportedly has ties to Putin and many of his associates.

The report adds that three years after she bought the stocks, Svetlana gave birth to daughter Yelizaveta whose middle name – typically derived from the father’s name in Russia – is Vladimirovna.

Despite Putin and Svetlana reportedly severing ties in the 2000s she still has her house in St Petersburg along with other properties in Sochi and Moscow, worth an estimated total of $11million. She reportedly also owns a majority stake in the Igora Ski Resort, 70 miles north of St Petersburg, which is a favourite haunt of Putin’s, and another majority stake in the Leningrad Center performance venue.

Krivonogikh, now 45, has a shareholding in Rossiya Bankbut and also owns the Leningrad Centre, a nightspot famed for “erotic shows”.

600-year old artifact stolen from Nigeria to the Netherlands, is recovered

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has formally received the repatriated Ife Terracotta from Foreign Affairs minister, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama, in the company of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Nigeria, Mr. Harry van Dijk.

While receiving the artifact in his office in Abuja on Thursday, November 2, Lai Mohammed said the return of the stolen Ife Terracotta marks a milestone in Nigeria’s efforts at pursuing the return of the country’s antiquities. He said the Ife Terracotta was smuggled from Nigeria through Ghana to The Netherlands in 2019 with a forged document.

The Minister of Information and Culture said following the interception of the artifact by the Dutch Customs at Schiphol Airport in The Netherlands, Nigeria was invited to prove her case against the suspected smuggler, which the country did successfully, hence the return of the artifact.

“Let me state here that Nigeria believes in joint international efforts to put a stop to illicit export and import of cultural goods. The issue of cultural property should not be a ground of rancour and discord among nations. That is if nations choose to tow the path which the Kingdom of The Netherlands has chosen by insisting on justice, fairness and amity,” he said

In his remarks, the Minister of Foreign Affairs thanked The Netherlands for the efficient and expeditious manner in which it deployed resources to identify, retrieve, and repatriate the Ife Terracotta to Nigeria.

Also speaking, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Nigeria said the return of the artifact is a fitting gift to mark the 50th anniversary of the UNESCO Convention on the Prevention of Illicit Trafficking of Culture Heritage, of which Nigeria and The Netherlands are signatories.

The Director-General of the National Commission for Museums and Monuments, Prof. Abba Isa-Tijjani, has taken custody of the artifact for cleaning and treatment at the Conversation Laboratory before its eventual display to the public.

Ondo monarch, Olufon Of Ifon shot dead by bandits

Isreal Adeusi, the Olufon of Ifon in Ose local government area of Ondo state, has been shot dead.

The first class traditional ruler was returning to Ifon from Akure after a meeting, Thursday, Nov 26, when he ran into a barricade set up by the kidnappers along Elegbeka area.

It was gathered that his driver attempted to manoeuvre his way to avoid the kidnappers but they shot at his vehicle.

Oba Adewusi was said to have been hit by bullets and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, where he was confirmed dead.

According to Tribune Online, the state governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, rushed to the hospital after he was informed of the incident.

South American outlet Clarin says the 60-year-old has passed away in a hospital on Wednesday, November 25, after suffering a heart attack at his home.

The disturbing photo shows the worker posing next to the corpse with his thumbs up.

The man was tasked with preparing Maradona’s body for the wake when he reportedly took the selfie. 

The owner of Sepelios Pinier funeral parlour confirmed to local media that the employee has been sacked.

The picture, which has been shared on social media, sparked outrage with an angry response from Twitter users. 

One Twitter user wrote: “He should be stripped of his Argentinian citizenship. You don’t do something like this. Complete lack of respect.”

While another warned: “Don’t retweet it.”

Nigeria becomes third most terrorized country in the world

A new report released by the Global Terrorism Index (GTI) has ranked Nigeria, for the sixth consecutive year, as the third most terrorized country in the world.

The report which was released on Wednesday, November 25, ranked Afghanistan as the number one most terrorized country in the world, followed by Iraq. Syria, Somalia, and Yemen are ranked fourth, fifth, and sixth respectively.

The report however stated that terror-related incidents in Nigeria fell by 27% in the same period. This was attributed to a significant reduction in violence attributed to killer herdsmen.

“Despite an overall decline in terrorism, Boko Haram, Nigeria’s deadliest terrorist group, recorded an increase in terrorist activity mainly targeted at civilians. Terror-related deaths and incidents attributed to Boko Haram in Nigeria increased by 25 and 30% respectively from the prior year.


“In 2019, Boko Haram carried out 11 suicide bombings causing 68 fatalities. Suicide bombings accounted for 6% of all terror-related incidents by Boko Haram in 2019, marking an 89% decline from their peak in 2017,” the report read.

Other countries among the 10 most impacted by terrorism are Pakistan (seventh), India (eighth), the Democratic Republic of the Congo (ninth), and the Philippines (10th).


According to the report, Nigeria witnessed her worst terrorist attack in 2019 in Borno State, where at least 70 people were killed and 10 others wounded when assailants attacked at a funeral.

“In 2019, Boko Haram carried out 11 suicide bombings causing 68 fatalities. Suicide bombings accounted for 6% of all terror-related incidents by Boko Haram in 2019, marking an 89% decline from their peak in 2017.

Boko Haram was responsible for Nigeria’s deadliest terrorist attack in 2019 when assailants attacked a funeral in Badu, Borno
State.

At least 70 people were killed and 10 others were wounded in the attack and ensuing clash. The two main factions of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) and the followers of Abubakar Shekau, are both engaged in an insurgency campaign against the Nigerian government.

Meghan Markle has revealed that she suffered a miscarriage after falling ill at her home.

The Duchess of Sussex said she was changing baby Archie’s nappy at their former home in Los Angeles when she “felt a sharp cramp”

The tragedy took place in July on a morning that “began as ordinarily as any other day”.

In a personal piece called The Losses We Share, Meghan wrote in the New York Times: “After changing his diaper, I felt a sharp cramp.

“I dropped to the floor with him in my arms, humming a lullaby to keep us both calm, the cheerful tune a stark contrast to my sense that something was not right.

“I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second.”

She added: “Hours later, I lay in a hospital bed, holding my husband’s hand. I felt the clamminess of his palm and kissed his knuckles, wet from both our tears.

“Staring at the cold white walls, my eyes glazed over. I tried to imagine how we’d heal.”

Deportation of Nigerian man with children in UK not legal – European Court of Human Rights rules

The European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg has ruled that the deportation of a Nigerian man, Charles Unuane, whose children live in Britain, is “disproportionate” and not “necessary in a democratic society”

In its ruling published on Tuesday, November 24, Here the ECHR said the UK decision to deport the father of three violated his right to family life as guaranteed by article 8 of the European convention on human rights.

According to The Guardian UK, Unuane, 57, whose appeal was supported by the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants, was awarded €5,000 (£4,447) before deportation. However, the court did not make an order for him to be returned to the United Kingdom.

Unuane was born in Nigeria. In 1998, he travelled to Britain as a visitor and was granted right of residence the following year. In 2000, his former partner joined him from Nigeria. They had three children who have now all been registered as UK citizens. One of the children suffers from a rare congenital heart defect.

In 2005, however, Unuane was convicted of obtaining a money transfer by deception. He was given a community sentence and ordered to pay a fine.

Four years later he and his partner were both convicted of offences for falsifying around 30 applications for leave to remain in the United Kingdom. Unuane was sentenced to five and a half years in prison; his partner was jailed for 18 months.

After serving their time, the family faced deportation. In 2016, the courts ruled in favour of appeals by Unuane’s partner and children, concluding that separating them would be “unduly harsh” on the children.

Unuane’s appeal was, however, dismissed because he could not demonstrate “very compelling circumstances” against his deportation, over and above the parental relationship with his children. In February 2018, he was deported to Nigeria.

In its ruling, the ECHR said the UK decision was “not reconcilable with article 8 of the convention”.

The report added that the Strasbourg judges pointed out that “British courts acknowledged the strength of the applicant’s ties to his partner and children, all of whom would stay in the United Kingdom” as well as the fact that parental support was needed for the child who was due to have heart surgery.

“In the overall assessment of proportionality, the court considers that in the circumstances of the present case the seriousness of the particular offence(s) committed by the applicant was not of a nature or degree capable of outweighing the best interests of the children so as to justify his expulsion,” the judges added. 

“It therefore considers that the applicant’s deportation was disproportionate to the legitimate aim pursued and as such was not necessary in a democratic society. There had been a violation of article 8 of the convention.” it concluded.

Nicola Burgess, Legal Director of JCWI and Unuane’s solicitor said, “Mr Unuane is separated from his wife and children because the government tried to reduce the right to a family life by preventing the courts from looking at the human context of the case.

“We welcome this decision which recognises the need for thorough and careful consideration of all factors, not just mere reliance on the length of the criminal sentence to justify deportation.” said Burgess.

Reacting to the ruling, a Home Office spokesperson said: “We are disappointed with the judgment of the ECHR as we have a duty to protect the public by removing foreign criminals who violated our laws.

“The judgment records that Mr Unuane was convicted of offences relating to the falsification of some thirty immigration applications. He was sentenced to five years and six months in prison.”

Joe Biden becomes the first presidential candidate to receive 80 million votes

President-elect, Joe Biden’s total tally of votes has surpassed 80 million, making him the first-ever presidential candidate in United States history to achieve the feat.

The vote-tracking count from the Cook Political Report reported the Democrat has so far received roughly 51 percent of the national popular vote to Donald Trump’s 47.1 percent.

Biden is the first presidential challenger to capture more than 50% of the popular vote while running against an incumbent since Franklin Delano Roosevelt defeated Herbert Hoover in 1932.

A total of 80,033,996 ballots have been cast for Biden, according to Cook Political Report data.


The previous all-time record of 69,498,516 was set by Barack Obama (with Biden as his running mate) in 2008.

Trump’s vote total of 73,878,907 is the most ever for a Republican candidate, as well as the most ever for a presidential loser.

More than 156 million people voted in the 2020 election, a turnout of more than 66 percent. 

Mr. Biden is preparing to formally announce members of his incoming national security team after the federal agency responsible for his transition to the White House announced that it will begin after Democrats and watchdog groups criticised its chief for “stonewalling” at the president’s behest.

In a letter to Mr Biden, the General Services Administration’s Emily Murphy said“I was never directly or indirectly pressured by any Executive Branch official — including those who work at the White House or GSA — with regard to the substance or timing of my decision.”


Later, Mr Trump said that “in the best interest” of the US, he recommended that Ms Murphy “and her team do what needs to be done with regard to initial protocols, and have told my team to do the same”.

FIFA unveils list of the Nominees for Best FIFA Player for 2020 Awards

Nominees for the 2020 Best FIFA  Player of the Year awards have been announced ahead of the annual ceremony.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Lewandowski, Lucy Bronze and Sam Kerr are amongst the biggest names to have been nominated for this year’s award.

The awards ceremony was introduced in 2016, after FIFA broke out from the Ballon d’or, and
Cristiano Ronaldo claimed the first prize, before retaining it in 2017.


 Luka Modric picked up the award in 2018, before Lionel Messi came out on top in 2019.

This year’s ceremony will be held on 17 December, and FIFA have announced their full list of candidates for the seven individual trophies on offer , stating that public voting open until 9 December at 11:59pm on FIFA.com.

Mike Tyson with Roy Jones Jr may bring $10M

The massive earnings Mike Tyson will make in his boxing comeback against Roy Jones Jr has been revealed.

According to Yahoo Sports, the boxing legend Mike Tyson will make a huge $10 million for his exhibition bout while Jones Jr will make around $3 million.

But Mike Tyson claims he won’t receive a dime for his boxing comeback, insisting his purse will be donated to charity.                    

“It’s going to be for various charities,” he told TMZ Sports.

“Nobody has to ever worry about me getting rich, or getting jealous, or saying I’m doing [the comeback] for money.

“I’m not getting anything. I just feel good doing this because I can.”

Tyson, 54, hasn’t fought since his crushing defeat to Kevin McBride in 2005, when he retired.

Tyson has been showing off his phenomenal shape on social media ahead of his first fight in 15 years.

As for Jones Jr, the 51-year-old last fought in 2018 when he beat Scott Sigmon.

The eight-round bout between both men will have no official judges scoring the contest, no knockouts are allowed and if there’s a bad cut, the fight is over.

The pay-per-view event also features YouTube star Jake Paul who takes on former NBA player Nate Robinson as well as Badou Jack vs. Black McKernan and Viddal Riley vs. Rashad Coulter.

Erling Haaland, Striker, surpasses both Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane in goalscoring charts

Borussia Dortmund striker, Erling Haaland is now the fastest player in history to score 15 Champions League goals after netting twice during his team’s 3-0 victory over Club Brugge on Tuesday night. 


The Norwegian striker,  recently named the 2020 Golden Boy has incredibly overtaken Brazilian Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane in the Champions League goalscoring charts.


The 20-year-old took just 12 games to reach that landmark. 


Brazil icon Ronaldo only managed to score 14 times in the Champions League throughout his career while former French midfielder Zidane also netted just 14 goals.


Haaland has also surpassed David Villa and Miroslav Klose, who both recorded 14 goals as well Roberto Firmino , Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Paulo Dybala, Adriano.

Juventus star and former Real Madrid susperstar,  Cristiano Ronaldo sits top with an astonishing 132 goals in the Champions League while Lionel Messi is second with 118.

Napoli 1-3 Milan:Rossoneri back to Serie A summit

Milan picked up a rare victory over Napoli in Serie A thanks to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s double at Stadio San Paolo on Sunday.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic maintained his scoring run with a goal in each half to help Milan earn a 3-1 win over 10-man Napoli that takes his side back to the top of Serie A.

Sassuolo moved to the summit earlier on Sunday with a 2-0 win at Hellas Verona but Milan responded with an Ibrahimovic-inspired victory at Stadio San Paolo to go two points clear.

The veteran striker headed in from 14 yards with 20 minutes played to score for the eighth league game running before kneeing in an unorthodox second after 54 minutes, but he worryingly limped off late on with a thigh injury.

Dries Mertens had responded for Napoli only for Tiemoue Bakayoko to be sent off 165 seconds later and Milan, without head coach Stefano Pioli and a number of other backroom staff members due to coronavirus, wrapped up the win through Jens Petter Hauge’s debut Serie A goal in injury time to maintain their unbeaten start.

Returning Napoli keeper Alex Meret pushed Hakan Calhanoglu’s shot past the post and Simon Kjaer shinned wide from the resulting corner as Milan made a positive start.

The visitors did not have to wait long to make the breakthrough as Ibrahimovic got in front of Kalidou Koulibaly and headed Theo Hernandez’s left-sided cross away from Meret.

Gianluigi Donnarumma produced fine saves to deny Dries Mertens and Hirving Lozano, either side of Giovanni Di Lorenzo firing against the crossbar, as Napoli initially responded well.

Those missed chances for Napoli would prove costly as Ibrahimovic converted Ante Rebic’s floated delivery from underneath the crossbar to give his side some breathing space.

Ibrahimovic had an instant third rightly ruled out for offside and Napoli gave themselves hope when Mertens turned Alessio Romagnoli and beat Donnarumma with his shot.

But a clumsy challenge from Bakayoko on Theo saw the ex-Milan midfielder pick up a second yellow and Napoli failed to create any more clear-cut openings.

Ibrahimovic pulled up in what will be a big concern for the absent Pioli but substitute Hauge squeezed a shot past Meret from a tight angle to seal the three points.

The winners @ American Music Awards 2020

The 2020 American Music Awards aired on Sunday night from Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater with Hollywood actress Taraji P. Henson as the host. 


The event kicked off with Covid-19 protocols in place and had multiple live performances, as well as in-person presenters, and even a small audience.


Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes opened the show with their new single, “Monster.” Bieber also performed two of his hit singles, “Lonely” and “Holy.”


Katy Perry took the stage for the first time since becoming a mom and performed “Only Love” with Darius Rucker. Megan Thee Stallion and Lil Baby also performed at the award.

Singers Taylor Swift, The Weeknd and country duo Dan + Shay emerged the top winners at the award, earning three trophies each.


Swift, who didn’t attend the show in person, scooped up prize of the night ; artist of the year — and another two AMAs for the favourite music video for “Cardigan” and favourite female artist – pop/rock.

The Weeknd earned three trophies in the soul/R&B category for favourite male artist, favourite album for ”After Hours”, and favourite song for “Heartless”.

Duo Dan + Shay bagged two awards for their song “10,000 Hours” featuring Justin Bieber in the collaboration of the year and favourite song – country categories. They were also adjudged favourite duo or group – country.

Rapper Doja Cat won two awards: new artist of the year and favourite female artist – soul/R&B.

Trump gives Biden the approval to begin presidential transition

US President Donald Trump, has finally given President-elect Joe Biden the green light to begin his transition to the White House, the clearest sign that Trump now understands he lost the election.

Despite Trump’s claims of electoral fraud, his campaign’s legal attempts to change the election have been roundly rejected by judges across the country who note that there is no evidence for showing Democrats rigged the Nov. 3 contest for Biden.

Until Monday evening, Trump had refuses to allow General Services Administration (GSA) to confirm the Democrat as president-elect — a formality that kept him from accessing federal distribution plans for a potential COVID-19 vaccine, top-secret intelligence briefings and other critical resources.

In a tweet on Monday November 23, Trump said he had told Emily Murphy, his handpicked administrator of the General Services Administration, to sign the appropriate papers allowing Biden’s transition team access to the federal resources he has been withholding while waging a baseless court battle to subvert the results of the election.

Though Trump didn’t outrightly concede, he cryptically insisted that his case for overturning Biden’s victory “STRONGLY continues.”

Dr. Anu of Med Contour has been suspended from the medical worldwide

Dr Anu Adepoju has been suspended from the medical profession in Nigeria following multiple claims of malpractice and botched surgeries at her clinic, Med Contour.

A number of women who went to Med Contour for cosmetic surgery complained about having complications that they still suffer from. One particular patient was rushed to LUTH and eventually died after being operated upon by Dr Anu.

Earlier this year, LUTH petitioned the medical panel following the death of the victim of Dr Anu’s procedure who died after being transferred to its hospital (read here).

Also, this year, popular social media personality, Omotola Taiwo Temilade, popularly known as Omohtee, called Dr Anu out following a botched surgery that left her with complications.

Dr Anu has continued to insist that she’s a qualified cosmetic surgeon and has undergone the necessary training. She said she is a graduate of University of Lagos College of Medicine Class of 2015, after which she went abroad to study cosmetic surgery, making her a Physician member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.

She added that she has performed over 300 successful surgeries and blamed patients’ complications on their failure to follow post-surgery care guideline that she gives because they think they know better.

Dr Anu was pictured in court in July 2020 when the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC, arraigned her before Justice Mohammed Liman of the Federal High Court, Lagos, over her services which allegedly resulted in the death of Nneka (read here). 

She has now been suspended from the medical profession in Nigeria and, according to popular medical doctor,  Dr Olufunmilayo. He said she cannot practice anywhere else in the world.

Dr Olufunmilayo shared the news, writing: “Dr. Anu of Med Contour has now been suspended from the medical profession in Nigeria. Remember her viral story was all over social media when Omohtee said she ruined her buttocks. Dr Anu was alleged of also killing a beauty queen in 2018 who she did surgery on.

“Dr. Anuoluwapo Olufunmi Adepoju has been suspended from the medical profession in Nigeria with effect from 5th November 2020. The suspension Order was issued by the Medical and Dental Practitioners Investigation Panel pursuant to powers conferred on it by s15(3)c of the Medical and Dental Practitioners Act Cap M8 LFN 2004.

“She graduated from College of Medicine Unilag 2017. By December 2018 she carried out a Plastic Reconstructive Aesthetic Surgery procedure on a patient who developed complications and went on to die from the complications.

“She was a House Officer when she carried out the procedure. Her suspension is till further notice. It is pending the determination of the case by the Medical and Dental Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal.”

Dr Olufunmilayo added: “If you read the Dr Anu story earlier this year on Twitter, this is to confirm she has now been suspended from medical practice. She only graduated from The College of Medicine UniLag 2017. Then she did butt enlargement operation on a beauty queen in 2018. Sadly the patient died.”

On whether Dr Anu can practice elsewhere, the doctor said: “Some people say ‘well Dr Anu can practice elsewhere even if suspended in Nigeria’ Actually NO. She cannot. As a Nigerian-trained doctor, To work anywhere in the world, You need a ‘Certificate of Good Standing’ from Medical Council, Nigeria. And you can’t get that if suspended.”

Sports fans will finally be allowed back into stadiums as Prime Minister Boris Johnson is set to reveal the new three-tier system that will come into force in England after lockdown ends on December 2nd. 

This comes a week after the Department for Culture Media and Sport submitted proposals to the Cabinet Office for the return of fans to grounds in December for the first time since the first lockdown back in March.

Under the new rules, spectator sports outdoors will be allowed in Tier 1 and Tier 2 areas to watch Premier League games and other sporting events after the lockdown ends.

Under the softest measures in Tier 1 areas, there will be a maximum crowd size of either 50 percent stadium occupancy or 4,000 spectators. In Tier 2 areas, the stadium rules will be 50 percent of overall capacity or 2,000, according to British Media. 

However, for those in the Tier 3 measures, fans will still not be able to attend sporting events.

Boris Johnson is set to make an announcement later on Monday November 23. He will make a statement to the House of Commons, and MPs will vote on it later in the week.

Nigeria officially hits to its worst recession since 1987

Buhari will address Nigerians tonight

Nigeria has slid into its worst economic recession in over three decades.

Gross domestic product (GDP) numbers released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Saturday, November 21, indicates the nation recorded a contraction of 3.62 percent in the third quarter of 2020.

This is the second consecutive quarterly GDP decline since the recession of 2016. The cumulative GDP for the first nine months of 2020, therefore, stood at -2.48 percent.

The last time Nigeria recorded such cumulative GDP was in 1987, when GDP declined by 10.8 percent.

According to World Bank and NBS figures monitored by The Cable, this is the second recession under President Muhamadu Buhari’s democratic reign and his fourth as head of state.

Earlier this year, the World Bank warned in a statement that the Nigerian economy is expected to plunge into severe economic recession, the worst in almost 40 years due to the collapse of oil prices and the outbreak of the coronavirus disease.

The report released by the World Bank in June?estimated that Nigeria’s economy would likely contract by 3.2% in 2020,

Joe Biden will announce the members of his Cabinet next Tomorrow

US president-elect, Joe Biden will announce the first members chosen for his cabinet on Tuesday November 24, the incoming White House chief of staff, Ron Klain has revealed.


Klain made the comments during an interview on ABC News’s “This Week” on Sunday, November 22nd. 
 

“Well, what I can confirm, George, is that you’re going to see the first of the president-elect’s Cabinet appointments on Tuesday of this week,” Klain told host George Stephanopoulos.

Klain said that by doing so, the Biden transition was “beating, in fact, the pace that was set by the Obama-Biden transition, beating the pace set by the Trump transition.”

“But if you want to know what Cabinet agencies they are and who’s going to be in those Cabinet agencies, you’ll have to wait for the president-elect to say that himself on Tuesday,” he added.


Antony Blinken, a career diplomat who served as No 2 at the state department and as deputy national security adviser in the Obama administration, is Biden’s most likely pick to be secretary of state, according to reports on Sunday night by the New York Times and Reuters.

Also among the expected Cabinet picks are Linda Thomas-Greenfield, a former assistant secretary of state for Africa, as Biden’s nominee for U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, and Jake Sullivan to be Biden’s national security adviser. 


While Biden is transitioning to become the country’s 46th president at his inauguration on January 20, Trump has refused to concede the election to Biden and continues to make false accusations of widespread voter fraud.

A self-proclaimed psychic who predicted Covid-19 pandemic and Trump’s defeat, predicts another

A self-proclaimed psychic and regression therapist has warned that the effects of the coronavirus pandemic could last until 2022.

Nicolas Aujula has claimed he foresaw the Covid-19 pandemic and has offered a mixed prediction for the next year over the continued fight against the virus.

The 35-year-old from London claims he receives his predictions from visions that are at times “very literal”, while on other occasions can be “symbolic”, and dreamlike and more open to interpretation.

Nicolas claims he foresaw global protests, an “influenza” disaster, and even the fall of Donald Trump from office as US President before 2020 began.

Speaking to The Mirror, Nicolas has delved into the future again to suggest what he thinks will happen to the coronavirus pandemic in the coming year.

He told the publication: “One thing people have asked me about a lot this year is the coronavirus.

“I have visions of it plateauing after the new year and infection rates being right down to the point where they are under control by the spring.”

However, he added a caveat, stating: “But, I predict that the panic and restrictions around the virus will go on until 2022.”

Nicolas claims he had an “overwhelming” out of body experience when he was 17-years-old in which he saw all of his past lives, which included being an Egyptian queen, a maid, a deer, a lion, and even an extraterrestrial from another galaxy.

While he says he had experienced psychic powers since he was a child, it was this vision during his later teenage years that prompted him to abandon plans to study economics and history at university and instead train as a past life regression therapist.

Nicolas has revealed how he foresaw the disasters of 2020 as long as two years ago.

He explained: “Back in 2018, the word influenza kept coming to me. It stuck in my mind, as it’s not a word I’d use. If I was talking in everyday life, I would just say flu.

“I saw it as a global disaster, linked to meat or livestock.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has been compared to the Spanish flu outbreak, hence the word influenza and some people think it originated at a wildlife market in Wuhan, China.

“I also envisioned the defeat of Donald Trump. The US election was obviously very neck-and-neck, so it was surreal seeing my vision come true when Joe Biden finally took the lead.”

He has also claimed to have predicted Black Lives Matter protests, Ariana Grande’s 2020 Grammy Awards dress, and health services around the world being under strain.

US government executes a man who kidnapped, raped and buried a teen alive

The U.S. government has executed a man who kidnapped and raped a 16-year-old Texas girl before dousing her with gasoline and burying her alive.

Orlando Hall was convicted for his role in the 1994 horrific kidnapping, rape, and murder of the 16-year-old sister of two Texas drug dealers he suspected had stolen money from him.

Hall was put to death at 11.47pm on Thursday, local time, via lethal injection at the federal prison in Terre Haute, Indiana.

The victim, Lisa Rene was abducted in 1994 from her apartment by five men, including Hall, who had gone there to confront her brothers. When they found her instead, the gang of marijuana traffickers took her at gunpoint to Arkansas where she was raped, beaten, doused with gasoline before being buried alive.

A victim impact statement on behalf of Lisa’s family was issued following the execution, 26 years after her tragic death.

“Today marks the end of a very long and painful chapter in our lives,” Pearl Rene said. “My family and I are very relieved that this is over.”

Hall was found guilty by an all-white jury, which lawyers cited concerns over Hall, who was Black, and claimed that it was the result of racial discrimination after he was sentenced on the recommendation of the all-white jury.

The execution came after the US Supreme Court overturned a previous ruling that blocked it on the grounds of method. The court also denied motions to halt the execution in three other cases filed by Hall’s lawyers.

Hall is the eighth federal inmate put to death this year under the Donald Trump administration after a nearly two-decade hiatus.

Nigeria reduces duties on imported cars from 35% to 5%

The federal government of Nigeria has concluded plans to slash the levy to be paid on imported cars from 35 percent to five percent, according to a new bill to be presented to the national assembly.
 
The bill which will come as a welcome development to Nigerians who have been financially impacted by a 2020 year plagued by the Coronavirus pandemic, is contained in the draft bill of the 2020 finance bill to be presented to the national assembly.

Once the bill has been passed by the legislature and signed by President Muhammadu Buhari, it’ll automatically become law.

The bill also shows that the import duty of tractors and motor vehicles for the transportation of goods will be slashed from 35 percent to 10 percent while tax relief will be granted to companies that donated to the COVID-19 relief fund under the private sector-led Coalition against COVID-19 (CACOVID).

According to Zainab Ahmed, the Nigerian minister of finance, budget, and national planning, had previously explained that the reduction in import duties and levies is being done to reduce the cost of transportation.

“The reason for us is to reduce the cost of transportation which is a major driver of inflation especially food production,” she told state house correspondents at the end of the federal executive council (FEC) on Wednesday, November 18.


Recall on Wednesday November 18, media aide of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Laolu Akande, tweeted on the reduction of import duty. 

“President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is proposing more tax incentives in the 2020 Finance Bill including import duty reductions from 35 to 10% & 0% levies on tractors, transport vehicles & co, 50% reduction of minimum tax, specific TETFUND exemption.

“There would also be tax relief for contributions to the COVID-19 Relief Fund, while retirees’ compensation exemption threshold is to be raised from N10,000 to N10million & software acquisition would now qualify as capital expenditure allowing for tax recovery of same. Expect more.”

Twitter will hand control of the US president’s official account to Joe Biden on January 20 regardless of whether Donald Trump has left the White House or not, it has been revealed. 

President Donald Trump is yet to concede defeat in the 2020 president election, alleging high-level voter fraud after Biden was announced as the winner, but the POTUS Twitter account will be handed to Democrat anyway, according to Twitter.

‘Twitter is actively preparing to support the transition of White House institutional Twitter accounts on January 20th, 2021,’ Twitter spokesperson Nick Pacilio told Politico.  

The same goes for @whitehouse, @VP, @FLOTUS, and a handful of other official accounts associated with the presidency, the report said.

Trump has tweeted 10,900 times since taking over the POTUS account in January 2017, but all his posts will be archived and an account tallying zero Tweets will pass to Biden on January 20.

Twitter also confirmed that staffers will meet with representatives from the Biden-Harris transition team in the coming months to review how the new administration plans to use its government-related accounts, The Hill reported.

POTUS has 32.8million followers, while realDonaldTrump, set up in 2009, has 88.9million.

7 party goers die after drinking coronavirus hand sanitizer when the party ran out of alcohol

Seven people have reportedly died after drinking coronavirus hand sanitizer in Russia.

According to Mail Online, a group of nine people drank antiseptic hand wash when the alcohol ran out at a party on Thursday in Tomtor village in the Tattinsky district of the country’s largest region, Yakutia.

The first three victims who died were a 41-year-old woman and two men aged 27 and 59. Six others were flown by a medical evacuation aircraft to regional capital Yakutsk.

On Friday three more men died, aged 28, 32, and 69. One more death was reported today, November 21. 

Two more remain in a coma in an intensive care ward, the report said.

Federal public health watchdog, Rospotrebnadzor reported: ‘Nine cases of poisoning with sanitiser have been registered, including seven that were fatal .’

The regional state prosecutor said: ‘The poisoning took place as a result of drinking sanitiser.’

The partygoers drank the sanitiser – 69 percent methanol – which had been sold as a hand cleanser during the pandemic.

A criminal case has been opened.

Donald Trump Junior tests positive for Coronavirus

Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of President Donald Trump, has tested positive for the coronavirus, his spokesperson confirmed on Friday night, November 20.

“Don tested positive at the start of the week and has been quarantining out at his cabin since the result. He’s been completely asymptomatic so far and is following all medically recommended COVID-19 guidelines,” Trump Jr.’s spokesperson said.

Trump Jr. has been isolating and has no symptoms, the spokesperson told the AP.

He is another person associated with the President who has tested positive for COVID-19.

Earlier on Friday, Rudy Giuliani’s son Andrew Giuliani, who is a White House aide, announced on Twitter he had tested positive. 

Trump Jr.’s girlfriend, Kimberly Guilfoyle, also tested positive for COVID-19 over the summer while the couple campaigned for the President, CNN reported.

Two Republican senators, Rick Scott of Florida and Chuck Grassley of Iowa, have announced in the last few days that they tested positive, the network reported. 

Twenty-six House members and 10 senators have so far tested positive or have been presumed positive since the beginning of the pandemic, according to CNN.

Georgia confirms Biden victory

Joe Biden picks Kamala Harris as his running mate

Georgia has confirmed Democratic President-elect Joe Biden as the winner of the Nov 3 election in the state after completing a hand audit of ballots on Thursday, November 19, Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said.


The audit, launched after unofficial results showed Biden leading Republican President Donald Trump by about 14,000 out of more than 5 million votes cast, ended with Biden winning by 12,284, according to data from Raffensperger’s office.

“Georgia’s historic first statewide audit reaffirmed that the state’s new secure paper ballot voting system accurately counted and reported results,” Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, a Republican, said in a statement.


“This is a credit to the hard work of our county and local elections officials who moved quickly to undertake and complete such a momentous task in a short period of time.”


The confirmation makes Biden the first Democratic presidential candidate to win the southern US state in almost three decades, since Bill Clinton in 1992. 


The Biden campaign’s communications director for Georgia, Jaclyn Rothenberg, said in a statement Thursday evening that the recount outcome, “simply reaffirmed what we already knew: Georgia voters selected Joe Biden to be their next president.”


“We are grateful to the election officials, volunteers and workers for working overtime and under unprecedented circumstances to complete this recount, as the utmost form of public service,” she said.


Raffensperger, a Republican, is expected to formally certify Biden’s victory today, November 20th, despite pressure from Trump, who has claimed without evidence that there were widespread irregularities and fraud in states that he lost to Biden, including Georgia.

Vladmir Putin is battling Parkinson and cancer, due for surgery soon

 A Vladimir Putin critic has claimed that the Russian leader is seriously ill and on the verge of leaving the Kremlin permanently.

Valery Solovie, former head of PR at Moscow State Institute of International Relations, claims he has sources “at the epicentre of decision making” and that Putin had to undergo surgery in February for cancer.

Solovie, who is a political analyst, early this month reported that Putin has Parkinson’s Disease.

On Wednesday, November 18, more attention was drawn to Putin’s health as he coughed during a televised meeting with top officials.


Solovei said of 68-year-old Putin’s health problems: “One is of psycho-neurological nature, the other is a cancer problem.


“If anyone is interested in the exact diagnosis, I’m not a doctor, and I have no ethical right to reveal these problems.


”The second diagnosis is a lot, lot more dangerous than the first named diagnosis as Parkinson’s does not threaten physical state, but just limits public appearances.
“But there is a fatal diagnosis.


“Based on this information people will be able to make a conclusion about his life horizon, which wouldn’t even require specialist medical education.”

Valery Solovei also stated that Putin plans to announce his exit from power early in the New Year and might announce his daughter as a possible ‘heir’.

The Kremlin has dismissed all reports of the President’s ill-health as “nonsense”, insisting that Putin is “absolutely normal.”

Shane Waters’ crimes were exposed after a farmer discovered a number of the birds at his Accrington farm in England were injured and dead.

Fearing “something sexual” had happened to them, he checked CCTV and called in the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).

The CCTV footage showed Waters prowling around the man’s farm before leaving the barn at 11.40pm.

He was arrested on September 23 and told officers: “I need help. I know what I have done. I just get these urges.”

Waters, 40, also admitted having sex with his own pet dog and has now been jailed for 30 months, according to Lancashire Live.

Burnley Crown Court heard Waters, a supermarket stock checker, has previous convictions for abusing horses in 1997 and 2016.

Judge Sara Dodd said the case was “as unusual as it is disturbing” as she handed down his sentence.

During his interview, Waters told police he had been on the farm on about nine previous occasions “but usually only had sex with one chicken”.

Barbara Webster, prosecuting, said: “He did not like performing the act and said sorry to the chickens after.”

The court heard a total of 15 chickens died as a result of Waters’ abuse.

He also admitted having intercourse with his pet dog over a four month period, but said the dog “did not like it and growled and bit him”.

Anna Chestnut, defending, said Waters hoped to rebuild his life upon his release from prison.

She said: “This is not the person he wants to be. He is thoroughly disgusted by his behaviour.”

Judge Dodd said: “As I understand it, at least 15 chickens died as a result of your sordid sexual activity.

“Those who kept the chickens are understandably horrified and appalled by what you have done.

“I have no doubt anyone hearing the details of this case will be disgusted.

“Your conduct is distressing and truly worrying, particularly in light of your previous convictions.”

The judge made an indefinite criminal behaviour order banning waters from keeping animals, and made him subject to notification for life.

President Macron gives French Muslim ‘Imans’ 15 days ultimatum to sign and accept the ‘French values

President Emmanuel Macron of France has issued a 15-day ultimatum Muslim leaders in the country. 

Macron gave French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM) a 15-day ultimatum to accept “charter of republican values” which is part of a broad clampdown on radical Islam. He said the charter should include an affirmation of French values, a specification that Islam in France is a religion and not a political movement, and spitulate an end to any interference or affiliation with foreign countries.
 

BBC reported that CFCM has agreed to create a National Council of Imams which will reportedly issue imams with official accreditation which could be withdrawn.

The French President has strongly defended French secularism in the wake of the attacks, which included the beheading of a teacher who showed cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad during a class discussion last month.

In a meeting attended by head of the French Council of the Islamic Faith, Mohamed Mousavi and the dean of the Paris Mosque, Shams El Din Hafez, in addition to representatives of the nine federations that make up the French Council of the Islamic Faith (CFCM), Macron warned that “if some do not sign this charter, we will draw conclusions,” adding that he “took note of their proposals”.

Depending on the role of the imams, they will need to have a certain fluency in the French language and possess university-level academic qualifications.

President Macron has also announced new measures to tackle what he called “Islamist separatism” in France. The measures include a wide-ranging bill that seeks to prevent radicalisation. It was unveiled on Wednesday, and includes measures such as:

  • Restrictions on home-schooling and harsher punishments for those who intimidate public officials on religious grounds
  • Giving children an identification number under the law that would be used to ensure they are attending school. Parents who break the law could face up to six months in jail as well as large fines
  • A ban on sharing the personal information of a person in a way that allows them to be located by people who want to harm them

Earlier this year, President Macron described Islam as a religion “in crisis” and defended the right of magazines to publish cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad. Such depictions are widely regarded as taboo in Islam and are considered highly offensive by many Muslims.

Following these comments, the French leader became a figure of hate in several Muslim-majority countries. Protesters have also called for a boycott of French products.
