    Update: Maguire fought with Albanian ‘gangster’ before his arrest

    It has been revealed that Manchester United captain, Harry Maguire was arrested after trying to help his sister who had been stabbed in the arm by a “gangster-style” Albanian businessman while on holiday on the island of Mykonos. 

    According to the Sun, the England international was with partner Fern in a bar in Mykonos on Thursday when his sister Daisy was approached by a group of Albanian men.

    As one of the men started chatting up Daisy, she reportedly turned him down and was attacked in the arm with a sharp metal straw, drawing blood and causing her to faint. 

    When Harry stepped in, things got heated and a fight broke out before undercover police officers arrived at the scene and tried to intervene. In the process of breaking the fight, three men including the England international allegedly fought back physically and verbally while resisting arrest.

    A source said: “Harry saw what was happening and remonstrated with them and things got heated.

    “He decided to try to get out of there and wanted to hail a taxi. But he ended up arguing with some undercover police officers and ended up at the local police station.”

    After his arrest, he pleaded not guilty to charges of assault, verbal abuse, and bribery after the alleged altercation with police and was released from Police custody. 

    A hearing which will be heard on the island of Syros on Tuesday, August 25, and Maguire will be represented at the hearing by his legal team. He has since returned to England.
