Akure, Ondo State – The Ondo State Police Command announced on Thursday the arrest of four individuals in connection with the tragic killing of an operative of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), identified simply as Jide.
The NDLEA officer was reportedly gunned down on Tuesday at the Itanla area of Ondo town. The incident occurred during a raid conducted by anti-drug agency operatives on a building where drugs were allegedly being kept. Jide was reportedly killed by persons suspected to be drug dealers during the operation.
Confirming the arrests, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Ondo State Police Command, Mr. Olayinka Ayanlade, issued a statement detailing the significant development. According to Mr. Ayanlade, in addition to the apprehension of the suspects, police operatives also recovered some arms during the course of their investigation.
The statement read, “The Ondo State Police Command wishes to inform the general public of a significant breakthrough in connection with the tragic killing of an operative of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, who was gunned down in the line of duty, at Itanla, Ondo.”
