In a resounding display of international cooperation and unwavering commitment to global justice, the Nigeria Police Force has achieved a significant victory against transnational organized crime. High-profile Chinese fugitive, Mr. Dai Qisheng, a notorious gang leader wanted for orchestrating violent crimes, has been successfully repatriated to the People’s Republic of China.
This landmark operation, coordinated through the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Abuja, represents a pinnacle of international policing partnerships. Executed in close collaboration with INTERPOL NCB Beijing and the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, it marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing global fight against criminal networks that transcend national borders.
A Fugitive on the Run, A Swift Capture
Mr. Dai Qisheng’s criminal record paints a grim picture. He was a notorious gang leader sought for orchestrating a series of violent organized crimes in China’s Guizhou Province. After an arrest warrant was issued by the Public Security Bureau of Zhijin County, Mr. Dai fled China in 2024, attempting to evade justice by seeking refuge abroad.
His flight from justice, however, proved futile. INTERPOL operatives in Nigeria, leveraging sophisticated intelligence and relentless pursuit, tracked and arrested Mr. Dai in Abuja on August 8, 2025. This swift capture underscores the enhanced capabilities and reach of Nigerian law enforcement in apprehending international fugitives.
A Clear Message to Criminals Worldwide
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun hailed the successful operation as a testament to the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to upholding global security and justice.
“This operation sends a clear message to criminals worldwide: Nigeria will not be a safe haven for fugitives,” the IGP declared. He further emphasized the critical importance of intelligence-sharing, operational collaboration, and robust international alliances as indispensable tools in effectively combating modern transnational crime networks.
The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, reiterated this sentiment, stating that the successful repatriation highlights Nigeria’s firm resolve to uphold the rule of law and make meaningful contributions to global security through effective law enforcement partnerships.
Reinforcing Nigeria’s Global Standing
With the successful repatriation of Mr. Dai Qisheng, the Nigeria Police Force significantly reinforces its standing as a reliable and formidable international partner in the global fight against organized crime. This operation not only brings a dangerous criminal to justice but also strengthens the bonds of trust and cooperation essential for a safer, more secure world. It serves as a powerful reminder that no matter how far criminals run, the arm of justice, powered by international collaboration, will ultimately reach them.
