A cloud of suspicion hangs over a Ore hotel after the lifeless body of an unidentified woman was discovered in a room on Wednesday. The Ondo State Police Command has swiftly launched a full-scale investigation into the unsettling demise, with a manhunt underway for the man who reportedly checked into the room with the deceased and has since vanished.
The grim discovery was made inside a hotel located along the busy Ore-Okitipupa Road in the Odigbo Local Government Area. According to a hotel source who wished to remain anonymous due to the sensitive nature of the situation, the couple arrived together earlier in the day. It was later discovered by one of the hotel’s staff members that the woman was unresponsive and lying on the bed.
“The two were seen together earlier in the day, but when a worker of the hotel got to the room, the lady was seen lifeless on the bed, and the man could not be found,” the source recounted. “It was the person who drew the attention of other hotel staff to the scene. Immediately, the matter was reported at the police station in Ore.”
Adding to the mystery, preliminary observations by hotel staff indicated no visible external injuries or signs of a struggle within the room. This lack of immediate evidence further complicates the unfolding investigation.
Confirming the incident on Thursday, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, stated that the command has initiated efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspect. “Yes, the incident happened, and we have begun an investigation, and efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect,” the PPRO assured.
The body of the deceased woman has been transported to a local hospital morgue, where she awaits identification and an autopsy to shed light on the circumstances surrounding her death.
