Emmanuel Odiniya, father of former Big Brother Naija All Stars winner Ilebaye Odiniya, has addressed the viral family altercation involving his daughter, claiming he was provoked before the confrontation turned physical.
In a voice note shared online by Kogi-based journalist Jeremiah Promise Enemona Ocheme, Odiniya said the incident was not motivated by hatred but by frustration over what he described as changes in Ilebaye’s behaviour after her reality show victory.
According to him, he played a major role in supporting her journey to winning the BBNaija All Stars edition, mobilising votes and seeking support from influential figures.
He alleged that their relationship became strained after her success, claiming the reality star grew distant, ignored his efforts to manage her engagements, and no longer treated him with respect.
Odiniya also criticised some of her lifestyle choices, including alleged cosmetic procedures, saying he had advised her against them because of her age.
The father further accused Ilebaye of physically attacking him on previous occasions and claimed the latest altercation escalated after she allegedly assaulted him first during an argument at their Abuja residence.
He also alleged that she refused to assist him financially despite his health challenges and expressed concern over what he described as her negative influence on her younger brother and involvement in family matters.
Despite the accusations, Odiniya said he still loved his daughter and hoped for reconciliation, adding that the police had intervened and settled the matter.
The incident gained public attention after Ilebaye appeared in an emotional livestream asking for help. Authorities later confirmed that several family members, including her father and siblings, sustained injuries and were receiving medical treatment, while police investigations continued.
