Barcelona won’t be able to retire Lionel Messi’s iconic No.10 shirt because of LaLiga rules

Barcelona won’t be able to retire Lionel Messi’s iconic No.10 shirt after his emotional farewell because of LaLiga rules.

Spanish FA rules state LaLiga teams must assign their 25-man squads the numbers 1 to 25 for each league campaign.

Goalkeepers either wear 1, 13, or 25 while on the rare occasion of reserve players brought into the first team, they are able to take on from 26 to 50. But should Barcelona retire Messi’s No10, they would sacrifice a senior place in their squad for the 2021-22 season.

According to Mail Online, this is because the first-team squads must reflect the numbers 1 to 25 when registered with the Spanish footballing body.

The report also said  Barca could still press ahead with retiring the shirt – just as their city rivals Espanyol did with the No21, following the tragic death of defender Daniel Jarque during pre-season in 2009.  But this would leave an open spot which Barca cannot afford to do.

Barcelona confirmed last Thursday, August 5, that Messi would not sign a new contract with the Spanish club amid financial concerns “and structural obstacles” which prevented Messi from renewing.

Messi, who won the Ballon d’Or six times, is Barcelona’s record goalscorer with 672 goals in 778 appearances.

The Argentina international won 35 major titles at club level since making his debut in 2003 – 10 La Liga titles, four Champions League crowns, seven Copa del Rey trophies, three Club World Cups, three European Super Cups and eight Spanish Super Cups.

A Family all Die Within a Week after Refusing to take COVID-19 Vaccine

A heartbroken son has revealed how his mother, father, and brother all died of Covid within the space of a week, after refusing to get the coronavirus vaccine.

Francis Goncalves’ brother Shaul, 40, father, Basil, 73, and mother, Charmagne, 65, all died in hospital within two weeks of contracting coronavirus.

The 43-year-old, who lives in Cardiff, says his three relatives who were based in Portugal, refused the Covid jab after falling victim to ‘anti-vaccination propaganda’ despite his parents living with underlying health conditions.

Now Francis, who believes the virus spread through his family during a meal, is pleading with others to avoid ‘falling into the trap’ of Covid conspiracies.

Father, mother, and son all die within a week after refusing COVID-19 vaccine

He said: ‘They (my family) got caught up in a lot of the anti-vaccination propaganda that’s going around. It preys on people who are afraid and they fall into the trap.

‘The message I want to get out is why would the government want to hurt you by giving you a vaccine? What is the purpose behind it? I’ve spoken to so many people who are terrified of the vaccine and it costs lives.’

He also paid tribute to his family, describing his mother as the ‘mother hen’ who would ‘do anything for us’, and his father as a man ‘who gave everything’.

And speaking about his brother, he said: ‘ He always looked out for the best interests of people around him and he wanted to teach people. He spend time helping people and wouldn’t ask for anything in return.

‘That was the same with my father, he would go to people’s places and help fixed things for them. I was and am still proud of my family,’ he added.

A Zookeeper killed by Tiger after Coworkers didn’t Warn her that its Cage was’nt Locked

A young woman was mauled to death by a tiger in a safari park enclosure after her colleagues failed to warn her that the cage door was open.

Catalina Torres Ibarra, 21, was killed in the park in Chile, South America on Friday, August 6.

Catalina, who had been working at the enclosure for over two years, was reportedly sent to perform cleaning duties but was attacked in the process. She died “on the spot” after suffering neck wounds in the fatal attack in Rancagua.

Her colleague Leonardo Maluenda, claims she was not told the tiger’s cage door was open.

Leonardo told the press: “The most logical thing is that they tell you to be careful if you go to clean up there because the tiger is loose, but they did not warn her.”

Colleagues are now playing the blame game as an internal investigation into the incident begins.

The park’s finance manager, Antonio Rojas, claimed that a group of workers had deliberately unlocked the tigers’ cage against protocol.

However, the workers in question have vehemently denied the allegations, saying that the cage was already open and that they did not open it themselves.

The safari park continues to remain closed as police investigate claims of possible negligence.

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has declared that the sit-at-home order organized in protest of Nnamdi Kanu’s continued detention by the DSS recorded 100 percent compliance throughout the Southeast.

According to IPOB, the sit-at-home order carried out Monday, August 9, is an indication that the group is intact, has no issue and is ready to go into the next phase of actions to ensure Kanu’s release.

In a statement by IPOB spokesman, Emma Powerful, he urged the people of the Southeast to remain resolute in their push for Biafra.

The statement reads: “We the global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by our prophet and liberator, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, are delighted to note that this ghost town and sit-at-home order issued by IPOB leadership was 100% successful.

“The quest to demand the release of our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from DSS dungeons will continue but from another dimension until they release our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

“We, therefore, warmly commend Biafrans, friends of Biafra and lovers of Biafra freedom who made the exercise a huge success irrespective of counter orders from unknown men working for DSS to discredit IPOB and its leadership. Jeffrey Epstein Accuser Virginia Giuffre Files Lawsuit Against Prince Andrew for Rape

Jeffrey Epstein’s accuser, Virginia Roberts Giuffre has filed a lawsuit in New York alleging that UK Royalty, Prince Andrew sexually abused her when she was 17 years old.

The lawsuit, filed in Manhattan federal court on Monday, August 9 which happens to be Giuffre’s 38th birthday, claims that she was forced to have sex with the Duke of York three times as ordered by the late Epstein.

Giuffre alleges that convicted and now dead pedophile, Epstein or his alleged madam Ghislaine Maxwell instructed her to have sex with the UK royal.

Prince Andrew has always denied having sex with Giuffre, as well as denied knowing her. He has even suggested that an infamous photo of him with his hand around Giuffre’s waist is fake.

‘Today my attorney filed suit against Prince Andrew for sexual abuse under the Child Victims Act,’ Giuffre said in a statement obtained by People.

“As the suit lays out in detail, I was trafficked to him and sexually abused by him.’

The lawsuit states that in one of the incidents, Giuffre was forced to engage in a sex act with the prince at Maxwell’s home in London.

‘During this encounter, Epstein, Maxwell, and Prince Andrew forced Plaintiff, a child, to have sexual intercourse with Prince Andrew against her will,’ the suit reads.

The suit states that Giuffre and another victim were abused by the prince at Epstein’s mansion in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

‘During this encounter, Maxwell forced Plaintiff, a child, and another victim to sit on Prince Andrew’s lap as Prince Andrew touched her,’ it states.

‘During his visit to New York, Prince Andrew forced Plaintiff to engage in sex acts against her will.’

Giuffre’s lawyer David Boies wrote in the suit that his client ‘feared death or physical injury to herself’ if she did not follow Epstein and Maxwell’s demands.

In her statement, Giuffre said: ‘I am holding Prince Andrew accountable for what he did to me. The powerful and rich are not exempt from being held responsible for their actions.’

Giuffre said she ‘did not come to this decision lightly’.

‘As a mother and a wife, my family comes first – and I know that this action will subject me to further attacks by Prince Andrew and his surrogates,’ Giuffre stated.

‘But I knew if I did not pursue this action, I would be letting them and victims everywhere down.’

Giuffre is seeking unspecified damages for battery as well as infliction of emotional distress.

Judgment day finally came for two Nigerian fraudsters, Tobilola Ibrahim Bakare and Alimi Seun Sikiru as they lost cash and properties in upscale Lekki axis of Lagos to the Federal Government following their arrest and prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The forfeited assets include the sums of N196, 741, 216.82 and N7, 054, 852.01 in bank accounts; two vehicles, a Mercedes Benz E500 and a Toyota Hilux 2020.

Others are; five bedroom duplex situated at Ibrahim Eleto Street, Osapa London, Lekki, Lagos, four bedroom semi-detached duplex situated at Ologolo, Jakande, Lekki, Lagos and another four bedroom semi-detached duplex in Southern View Estate, Mayor Court, Chevron Alternative Road, Lekki, Lagos.

The two vehicles are valued at N30million while the three duplexes are valued at N230million.

Two Nigerian fraudsters forfeit over N200m, luxury cars and properties valued at N260m to FG

The fraudsters gave up the assets as they could not give satisfactory explanation of the funds and properties linked to them. They confessed to involvement in cybercrime. Bakare, 27, an indigene of Ijebu Ode, Ogun State claimed his forte is Business Email Compromise, and that he had hacked into different companies outside the shores of Nigeria.

The scammers had been successful in their ignoble trade, earning a cumulative sum of $1million USD from victims including three foreign airlines through Business Email Compromise fraud. They laundered the proceeds of crime in acquiring properties including real estate and luxury vehicles.

Their problem began in September 2020, when Operatives of the Commission, in the course of investigating a case of suspicious transactions and money laundering involving one Kehinde Adelakun, a convicted internet fraudster, stumbled on evidence linking Alvine International Resources Ventures, owned by the second defendant, Sikiru.

The transaction that sets off the alarm bell was an inflow of N5million in two tranches from Alvine International Resources Ventures.

Further probing by the investigators, revealed several inflows suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities in two accounts of the second defendant. The balance in both accounts: N196, 741,216.82  and N7, 054,852.01 , were swiftly placed on a Post No Debit, to forestall dissipation of the funds pending the conclusion of investigation and determination of the case.

The second defendant, in his statement to the Commission , admitted that majority of the funds found in his account were from the first defendant, Bakare, who confessed to being into Business Email Compromise, BEC, between 2009 and 2020 and also hacking into the accounts of KLM, Turkish Airlines and British Airways.

The fraudster were subsequently arraigned before Justice O. A Taiwo of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja on five-count amended charge bordering on conspiracy and retaining stolen property, an offence contrary to Sections 411 and 328 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.

One of the counts reads: “Tobilola Ibrahim Bakare and Alimi Seun Sikiru, sometime in 2020 in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, conspired to commit felony to wit: retaining cumulative sum of about $1,000.000,00( One Million United States of America Dollars ) property of KLM, Turkish Airways and British Airways.”

Another count reads: “Tobiloba Ibrahim Bakare and Alimi Seun Sikiru, sometime in 2020 in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court , with a dishonest intent, retained four -bedroom detached duplex situated at Ologolo Jakande, Lekki, Lagos.”

They pleaded ‘guilty’ to the charges preferred against them.

Delivering judgment, Justice Taiwo noted that the action of the defendants was “responsible for giving Nigeria a bad image globally, whereby the average Nigerian is looked upon as being untrustworthy and fraudulent”. She convicted and sentenced Bakare, to three years imprisonment on counts 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, with the option of fine of N3m (Three Million Naira).

The Judge also convicted and sentenced Sikiru, to three years imprisonment on counts 1 and 5 with an option of fine of N1 million (One Million Naira).

Justice Taiwo also held that the five bedroom duplex situated at Ibrahim Eleto Street Osapa London, Lekki, Lagos, four bedroom semi-detached duplex situated at Ologolo , Jakande, Lekki, Lagos and another four bedroom semi-detached duplex in Southern View Estate, Mayor Court, Chevron Alternative Road, Lekki, Lagos recovered from the first defendant be forfeited to the Federal Government.

The Judge further held that the sums of N196, 741, 216.82 recovered from the second defendant’s company, Alvine International Resources Ventures account domiciled in a Bank and N7, 054, 852. 01 recovered from the second defendant’s account domiciled in a Bank be forfeited to the Federal Government.

Two vehicles, a Mercedes Benz E500 and a Toyota Hilux 2020 recovered from the first defendant were also ordered forfeited to the Federal Government.

R&B Singer, R.Kelly Wants Charges for Exposing Sexual Partners to Herpes dropped from Federal Case

Disgraced R&B singer, R Kelly has asked a judge through his lawyers to dismiss charges claiming he knowingly exposed two people to a sexually transmitted disease.

Kelly is facing a wide array of sex trafficking charges in New York and will also be tried in both Illinois and Minnesota for a series of unrelated abuse crimes. Kelly also stands accused of having sexual contact with an underage boy in 2006.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Kelly and his legal team are attempting to throw out STD charges by claiming that herpes is not a recognised sexually transmitted disease. He also denies the charges.

Using the World Health Organisation and New York State Department of Health as a guide, Kelly and his lawyers are arguing that herpes is in fact a virus and not a bacterial venereal disease, so believe the charges should be dropped.

His legal team also argued that charges – including bribing a Chicago clerk to allow Kelly to marry singer Aaliyah even though she was underage – should be dropped because the statute of limitations had passed.

“To allow the government to move forward with those counts would be to allow a clear mischaracterisation and interpretation of the application of the statute, considering the statute clearly does not incorporate herpes,” Kelly’s lawyer, Thomas Farinella, wrote.

Kelly stands accused of running a racketeering enterprise that trafficked women and girls across state lines. He allegedly had sex with numerous minors and made child pornography, prosecutors say. He also forced his victims to call him “Daddy”, and did not allow them to eat or leave rooms without his permission, prosecutors will argue.

Opening statements will begin on 18 August after Kelly fired his original legal team

Pregnant woman gave birth to her son 3 months earlier after being left in a near-fatal coma by covid-19

A pregnant woman gave birth to her son three months earlier than her due date after being left in a near-fatal coma by covid-19.

Kassidy Hazelton, from Arizona, delivered her son Kash on May 31, just a couple of weeks after she contracted Covid-19 after she refused to get a vaccine because she was pregnant.

Initially when the 37-year-old caught the virus, she developed pneumonia, ending up in a coma and forcing doctors to deliver her baby via an emergency c-section.Speaking to Fox News, Kassidy said she was unsure about getting the jabs because of possible side effects knowing fully well she was pregnant at the time.

She said: ‘Once my temperature started to get out of control, that’s when I started to get worried. I was scared.’

‘Vaccines were just released and I did not feel comfortable yet’, she said on a fundraising page set up to help with medical costs.

‘Within five months of pregnancy I contracted it and became very ill.

‘I had to be sedated and put in induced a coma while pregnant.’

With doctors scared she won’t make it, they decided to deliver her baby at just 28 weeks, almost three months early, by c-section.

‘They kept the baby in there as long as they could, but I wasn’t getting better and in order for me to survive or even him they had to take him out’, Kassidy said.

Kash weighed just under 1kg when he was born and was immediately rushed to a neonatal intensive care unit, where he will remain until at least his due date of August 20.

Kassidy added: ‘I was still in a coma when he was born.

‘This has been tremendously hard on me and our family.’

She survived and Kassidy came back from the coma. But her battle with Covid meant she was unable to meet her son until weeks after his birth.

Kash is still being closely monitored due to his premature birth and the pressure on his lungs

In total Kassidy remained in hospital for seven weeks and while she is ‘getting better every day’, is still suffering from breathlessness, along with PTSD and anxiety.

‘I can’t breathe at times and I’m concerned things will get harder’, she said.

?’Covid has wrecked my first pregnancy and I was very close to death. We’re very lucky to be alive.’

Kassidy added that she regrets her decision not to get vaccinated and has urged other mothers to make sure they take up the jabs when they’re offered to them.

‘Mothers need to take this seriously and there were mothers that did not make it… protect yourself and your baby because it can, and it will kill you’, she said.

‘Everyday I get told we’re miracles and I hate to think of it like that, but we really pushed through something unimaginable. I had a tracheotomy which they cut a hole.

‘I was knocking on death’s doors and I’m still shocked I’m here today.’

Scientists believe that pregnant women who contract Covid are at a greater risk of serious illness and pregnancy complications, including miscarriage and pre-term labor.

US Police Woman Shot Dead on the Job this Weekend (video)

A 29-year-old female police officer was shot and killed while another was seriously wounded in an exchange of gunfire during a traffic stop in Chicago over the weekend.

The officer killed Saturday night, August 7, was identified as Ella French. She is the first female cop to be fatally shot on the job in more than three decades, according to the Chicago Police Department.

‘We will never forget the true bravery she exemplified as she laid her life down to protect others,’ the department said of French in a Facebook post on Sunday evening.

The department added that fellow officers will ‘grieve the loss of this hero’ and that it requested support for French’s ‘wounded partner, who is in the hospital fighting for his life’.

Two Chicago brothers have been charged in the shooting, the Chicago Police Department announced in a Monday press release. Emonte Morgan, 21, is charged with first-degree murder, as well as attempted murder and other charges. Eric Morgan, 22, faces charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and obstruction of justice.

8-year-old boy faces death penalty under blasphemy laws for peeing in a religious library

An eight-year-old Hindu boy is being held in protective police custody in Pakistan after being accused of intentionally wetting himself in a religious library.

The child has become the youngest person ever to be charged with blasphemy in the country, a charge which can carry the death penalty.

The boy was accused of “intentionally urinating on a carpet” in the library of madrassa last month, where religious books were kept.

The boy’s family is currently in hiding and many of the Hindu community in Punjab have fled the area after a group of Muslims attacked a Hindu temple in outrage following the accused boy’s release on bail last week.

Soldiers were deployed to the area to help maintain peace.

On Saturday, 20 people were arrested in connection with the temple attack.

Speaking to The Guardian from hiding, one of the boy’s family members said: “He [the boy] is not even aware of such blasphemy issues and he has been falsely indulged in these matters. He still doesn’t understand what his crime was and why he was kept in jail for a week.

“We have left our shops and work, the entire community is scared and we fear backlash. We don’t want to return to this area.

“We don’t see any concrete and meaningful action will be taken against the culprits or to safeguard the minorities living here.”

Legal experts are shocked at the blasphemy charges being filed against the child.

Ramesh Kumar, a lawmaker and head of the Pakistan Hindu Council, said: “The attack on the temple and blasphemy allegations against the eight-year-old minor boy has really shocked me.

“More than a hundred homes of the Hindu community have been emptied due to fear of attack.”

Kapil Dev, a human rights activist, said: “I demand charges against the boy are immediately dropped, and urge the government to provide security for the family and those forced to flee.

“Attacks on Hindu temples have increased in the last few years showing an escalating level of extremism and fanaticism. The recent attacks seem to be a new wave of persecution of Hindus.”

France: Catholic Priest Killed by a ”Rwandan Refugee” He gave Shelter

A Catholic priest was murdered on Monday August 9th in the French western region of Vendée, by a Rwandan refugee who was giving him shelter, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin said on Twitter.

A suspect handed himself over to police and said he had killed the priest, a source close to the case told AFP news agency.

The suspect, Emmanuel Abayisenga, 40, was on bail and awaiting trial for setting fire to Nantes Cathedral last year but confessed to the killing of 60-year-old Father Olivier Maire in Saint-Laurent-sur-Sèvre earlier this morning.

In an act of compassion, Olivier had welcomed Abayisenga, a devout Catholic, into his community of missionaries in May when he was released from prison on bail.

‘He was recently placed under judicial control, and went to live in Saint-Laurent-sur-Sèvre,’ said an investigating source. ‘He is said to have carried out the killing on Monday morning, before handing himself into police.

‘Early evidence suggests he beat his victim to death,’ the source added.

Abayisenga was living with the Montfortian community, which is made up of missionaries devoted to Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort.

Local prosecutors are leading the investigation, indicating the killing is not being treated as an act of terrorism. BFM TV reported the Rwandan had received treatment in a psychiatric hospital in July.

Following today’s attack, French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin tweeted: ‘All my support for the Catholics of our country after the dramatic murder of a priest in the Vendée region.’

Faithful and Peaceful Christians held Service in Ruins of Demolished Church building in Maiduguri

Christian faithfuls in Maiduguri gathered on Sunday, August 8, to hold service surrounded by the ruins of their demolished Church.

EYN church in Moduganari, Maiduguri, Borno state, was demolished on August 5 by officials of Borno Geographic Information System (BOGIS) and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), leaving church members without a place for service.

Also, during the demolition of the Church on August 5, 29-year-old Mr Ezekiel Bitrus Tumba, a son of Ecwa Church pastor, was allegedly killed.

But worshippers were undeterred and chose to hold service at the scene of the demolition.

"They demolished the building, thinking it

Sharing photos from the church service, Hausa Christians Foundation, HACFO, wrote on Facebook: “They demolished the building, thinking it is the CHURCH. The Church is Forever unstoppable and indestructible.

“Jesus Said, I will build my church, and the gate of hell shall not prevail against it.”

"They demolished the building, thinking it

Meanwhile, the Chairman of  Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop williams Naga has condemned in strong terms the killing of Mr Ezekiel Bitrus Tumba, a son of Ecwa Church pastor, and demolition of Local Church of Brethern in Nigeria.

Naga said at a press briefing on Saturday, August 7: “The incident which occured on Thursday August 5, 2021 which was the demolition of the EYN LCB Maduganari and killing of a brother, 29 years old Ezekiel Bitrus Tumba, and injuring of five others working at the Church premises by Civilian JTF was tragic, condemnable.

“Officials of Borno Geographic Information System (BOGIS) led by its Executive Secretary, Engr Adams Bababa, brought CJTF to the Church not only for demolition but also ended up killing our brother and son.

“The reaction by youths which followed was report caused by the seizure of peoples’ mobile phones and refusal to return same phones to the people by BOGIS.

"They demolished the building, thinking it

“The entire Christian Community has been thrown into mourning mood as brother who was a bread winner of his family was sent to his early grave by zealous BOGIS head and CJTF for simple reason of stoppìng Church expansion in the state.

“Unfortunately, we the Christians in the state have been denied Certificate of Occupancy to build Church by the state government since 1979, but we acquire lands/plots by ‘Deed of Assignment to build our places of worship’.

“It appears BOGIS with these latest activities is out to ensure no church is allowed to exist in the state, fuel tension and caused disatisfaction among peace loving Chritians and Muslims in a fragile state as Borno.”

NewYork Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Secretary Resigns amid Sexual Scandal Involving her Boss

Secretary to New York state Governor Andrew Cuomo has resigned amid a sexual harassment scandal involving her boss.

Melissa DeRosa, secretary to Cuomo, announced her resignation on Sunday, August 8, saying working for the people of New York “has been the greatest honour of my life”.

This comes after a report released last week claimed Mr Cuomo had sexually harassed 11 women.

Cuomo denies any wrongdoing and has vowed to stay in office, however, with the Democratic party, Senate leader Chuck Schumer, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and even president Joe Biden asking him to resign, he is set to face impeachment by the New York House of Reps.

The report by the state’s Attorney General Letitia James found that Cuomo had sexually harassed multiple women and violated state and federal laws.

Investigators spent five months speaking to nearly 200 people, including staff members and some of those who made complaints against him. Tens of thousands of documents, texts and pictures were reviewed as part of the inquiry.

His secretary, DeRosa was mentioned in the report 187 times in the 168-page report. She was accused of efforts to cover up the governor’s actions and retaliating against one of his accusers.

Her resignation statement on Sunday August 8, did not address the allegations.

“Personally, the past two years have been emotionally and mentally trying. I am forever grateful for the opportunity to have worked with such talented colleagues on behalf of our state,” she said.

On Monday, August 9, the New York State Assembly/s Judiciary Committee is set to meet to address potential impeachment proceedings.

The International Police arrests Nigerian Human trafficker and Other 286 Persons involved

The International Police has arrested a Nigerian alleged to be running a human trafficking ring from Ghana, Togo, Benin to Nigeria.

The Nigerian, who was not named, was intercepted by officers in Ghana.

The suspect had been placed under a Red Notice by Spain during an operation against cross-border crimes.

He was caught when the officers conducted a check on a passenger manifest during an operation tagged, “Smuggling Training and Operations Programme.”

A statement from the Interpol website reads: “Operation STOP (Smuggling Training and Operations Program) included training provided to 20 frontline officers to optimize the use of INTERPOL’s policing capabilities – including its criminal and stolen and lost travel documents databases – to better track the movement of criminals and identify potential victims.

“After the training session, officers from various enforcement services including aviation security, customs, immigration, narcotics and Ghana’s INTERPOL National Central Bureau were deployed to Accra Airport where they carried out almost 33,000 checks against INTERPOL’s databases.

“In this respect, the detection from a passenger manifest of a Nigerian national wanted internationally under a Red Notice issued by Spain on human trafficking charges further underlined the role of INTERPOL’s policing tools to help secure borders by identifying wanted individuals.

“The hit on the Spanish Red Notice was generated by checking names and passports against INTERPOL’s databases using I-Batch, an application that processes bulk data from passenger manifests in a very short time.”

Apart from the Nigerian suspect, 286 human trafficking suspects were also arrested worldwide by the global agency in July.

The World’s Smallest Baby at birth, Yu Xuan, has been discharged from a Singapore hospital after 13 months of intensive treatment

Kwek Yu Xuan was just 212g (7.47oz) – the weight of an apple – when she was born and measured 24cm long.

She was delivered at just under 25 weeks – 15 weeks short of the average 40.

Before her birth , the previous record holder was a girl in the US who weighed 245g at birth in 2018 according to the University of Iowa’s Tiniest Babies Registry.

The baby’s mother gave birth to her by emergency C-section four months ahead of schedule after she was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia.

After spending over a year in hospital, Yu Xuan now weighs a much healthier 6.3kg (14 pounds).

The baby girl had a “limited chance of survival” according to Singapore’s National University Hospital (NUH) where she was born.

“Against the odds, with health complications present at birth, she has inspired people around her with her perseverance and growth, which makes her an extraordinary “Covid-19″ baby – a ray of hope amid turmoil,” the hospital said in a statement.

During her time in hospital, Yu Xuan was given multiple kinds of treatment and relied on different kinds of machines to survive.

Doctors say she has progressed very well under their care and she is now well enough to be discharged.

The baby still has chronic lung disease and will need help with her breathing at home. However, NUH doctors say she is expected to get better with time.

Her mother, Wong Mei Ling, told local media that the baby’s birth and size came as a shock because her first child – a four-year-old boy – was delivered at term.

‘Don’t get married if you are a feminist, it will frustrate you’ – Oyedepo warns

Oyedepo rejects CAMA: Appointing a trustees over his church

Bishop David Oyedepo, the General Overseer of the Living Faith Church International aka Winners’ Chapel, has advised women against joining the feminist movement.

He said this on Sunday, August 8, while preaching about total obedience to the word of God.

He lamented that women now feel they are wiser than God when the issue of submission comes up and he blamed this on the feminist movement. He warned the women in his church that feminism leads to frustration and devastation.

He said that when the Bible says “submit yourself to your husband in everything,” women respond saying, “No, not today, that was before. Right now, nobody can do that. We are co-heirs, male and female, no difference.”

He added: “Right now, there is a feminine revolution. And then you get into feminine frustration and destiny devastation.”

He continued: “You know something, no book on earth will ever overtake the Bible in currency. It is the eternal truth. While the earth remains, the truth of scriptures remains in force, you either choose to follow or go your way.

“For we can do nothing against the truth, no matter what civilisation we are talking about, but for the truth at all times.

“So, if feminist revolution is your vision, don’t attempt to get married, because it won’t work.”

Ariana Grande’s fan who survived the Manchester Arena bombing found dead

An Ariana Grande fan who attended the Manchester Arena concert in 2017 has been found dead in her bedroom after experiencing depression and PTSD following the bombing.

Eve Aston, 20, was found dead by her father in her bedroom in Finchfield, Wolverhampton, last month. But the cause of her death remains unknown, the family said she had struggled with loud noises and sleeping since the concert.

Writing on her GoFundMe page, Eve’s mother, Amanda Aston, said: “The Manchester attack took its toll as Eve was present, however, the strength of Ariana Grande’s music got her through it alongside her dad who was with her at the time and guided her out.”

She described Eve as “loud, funny, beautiful and caring” adding: “Everyone that she knew would always be put before herself, she was such a selfless person.”

Aston told the Birmingham Mail her daughter had always been a “jolly soul” with lots of friends, but that she began suffering PTSD after attending the Manchester Arena concert, where she had been on the other side of the venue from where the bomb was detonated.

Eve had returned to the venue to lay flowers to commemorate the 22 deaths, she said.

Aston added that Eve had been interested in working with cars but had struggled to launch her career due to depression. She said in recent weeks she had “seemed to be getting back to her old self” and had lost a lot of weight.

She said: “We’re heartbroken, it’s like a bad dream. It’s like she’s going to walk back through the door and say: ‘Got ya!’”

An inquiry into the police and security response to the Manchester Arena attack that concluded this summer identified a number of failures that had cost lives on the night, notably that there had been multiple opportunities to identify the suicide bomber, Salman Abedi, as a security threat.

Pope Francis sent a letter with three bullets in it

Italian police are investigating a disturbing death threat addressed to Pope Francis in Rome.

Law enforcement confirmed an envelope containing three bullets was sent to the Vatican.

The suspicious package was intercepted by staff at a mail sorting facility before it reached the Pope and had been sent from France, according to the carabinieri provincial command in Milan.

A handwritten address on the envelope read: ‘The Pope, Vatican City, St Peter’s Square, Rome’.

According to Italian police, the three bullets are presumed to be for a pistol and the envelope also contained a message alluding to financial operations at the Vatican.

Representatives of the Holy See are yet to comment and an investigation is ongoing.

This comes weeks after Pope Francis spent 10 days in hospital after having half of his colon removed in a pre-planned surgery.

Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin Backs Apostle Johnson Suleman on the Miracle money, He says ‘Jesus started it’

The founder and senior prophet of Christ MercyLand Deliverance Ministry, Warri Delta State,  billionaire Prophet, Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin has insisted that there is miracle money across churches in the country.

Fufeyin said even Jesus performed wonder of miracle money by locating money in the mouth of a fish to settle taxes.

He backed his statement by making reference to John 14:12:  “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”

According to him, if Jesus did it and said his followers will do greater works, only spiritually ignorant people criticizes such spiritual things they have no explanation to.

Fufeyin said there were enormous powers loaded within believers which could be comprehend without ignorant.

Miracle money is real, Jesus started it. Leave Apostle Johnson Suleman alone, Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin tells critics

Fufeyin, who was responding to a trending allegation against Apostle Johnson Suleman, a televangelist and the senior pastor and general overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International said it would be difficult for someone without spiritual understanding to know how miracle money works.

“This is not the first time that miracle money started. Jesus Christ got miracle money when he was confronted by tax collectors. He sent his disciples into the river telling them that they will catch a fish. He told them to open the mouth of the fish for the  miracle money. He used that money to pay tax,” he said.

Miracle money is real, Jesus started it. Leave Apostle Johnson Suleman alone, Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin tells critics

Fufeyin clarified that miracle money is however not stealing or robbing a financial institution but praying to reality what already belongs to an individual but obstructed by spiritual forces.

He said people could even get much more than they ever bargain with prayer, noting that if people could get jobs miraculously and get healing by prayers, the same prayer could produce favour in form of money.

“Many prophets and pastors have been doing it before today. It did not start with Apostle Suleman.

“Miracle money doesn’t come from CBN or jump down from no where. They are monies that rightly belong to you. There are people who should favour you but are not willing to. It takes miracle for God to compel them to release much more than what they should give you,” Fufeyin said in a video made available online.

Miracle money is real, Jesus started it. Leave Apostle Johnson Suleman alone, Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin tells critics

According to him, miracle is real and people must be convinced because the angel of God, on account of prayer will go trouble some people to release certain financial blessings.

Using a practical example, Fufeyin asked people to consider how they may not be willing to help some people even when they have what the person is looking or asking for.

He added that it is only the favour and angel of God that could make people to be remembered and provided with much more than what they ever imagined or asked for.

Younger Inmate, kills his Sister’s Rapist, who is 70, in Prison

A US inmate has been sentenced to 24 additional years behind bars after murdering his cellmate, the paedophile who abused his sister – in an act of bloody revenge.

An administrative error saw 26-year-old Shane Goldsby assigned to the same cell as Robert Munger before the fatal beating in June 2020.

Munger, 70, was serving a 43-year sentence at the Airway Heights prison in Washington State for child molestation and child pornography offences.

Local news station KHQ reported that Goldsby discovered that his younger sister was one of Munger’s victims.

“I had so much stuff going on in my head,’ he told the station. “I wasn’t stable at that point. I wasn’t. I was getting to that point, because [Munger] kept wanting to give me details about what happened, what he did – about the photos and the videos of him doing this stuff. It was building up.”

Goldsby said he couldn’t believe that he had been assigned to the same cell and made a request to the authorities that he be moved, which was ignored.

“I’m completely feeling like this is what they wanted to happen,” he said.

“I was in shock,” he added. “I was like, ‘what the f***?’… This stuff doesn’t happen. You’re talking the same institution, the same unit, the same pod in the same cell as this dude. That’s like hitting the jackpot in the casino seven times.”

“They put me in a position that I shouldn’t even be in. This shouldn’t have happened, at all. You’re talking about this dude, who did some sick twisted things to my little sis. My family. My blood. My life. And you want to put me face-to-face with this dude?” Goldsby told KHQ.

Goldsby eventually snapped, attacking the older man in a common area in the jail.

Court documents reveal what happened next, showing how Goldsby hit “Munger in the face and head area about 14 times, [stomped] on his head at least four times and [kicked] a couple more times before walking away and being taken into custody.” He died three days later.

The Washington Department of Corrections has policies to prevent connected inmates being assigned together but reportedly missed the connection in this case because Goldsby and his sister have different last names.

“There was no clear indication in the documentation regularly reviewed for housing assignments that there was a potential conflict,” DoC spokeswoman Janelle Guthrie told the Spokesman-Review newspaper.

“You put me in the same cell as this dude,” Goldsby said. “I feel set up. I’m the victim.”

At his sentencing last week, Goldsby was too emotional to read a statement and his lawyer spoke on his behalf.

“I’m ashamed of my actions, I was put into a situation that I don’t wish on nobody,” she said on Goldsby’s behalf. “I got a lot of fixing to do.”

In addition to the additional 22 years, Goldsby must also pay restitution to Munger’s family.

“I cannot imagine what it would be like to lose a loved one in this kind of way,” Goldsby said through his lawyer.

“To his wife and his whole family I apologise. I am so sorry and I hope you are able to heal from what I caused.”

He reported that neither did the MoU impose any financial obligation on the two countries nor provided direct financial gains from its implementation.

The Abetifi MP said the agreement had been fashioned in a way to create a win-win situation for both countries, and added that relaxed visa entry requirement is expected to yield tremendous benefits to citizens of Ghana and UAE through improved relations, trade and bilateral co-operation.

Mr. Acheampong stated that visa waiver arrangements to facilitate the movement of diplomats and government officials are common, except that this one makes ordinary passport holders beneficiaries.

Harry Kane denies rumours that he has refused to return to Tottenham training

England and Tottenham captain, Harry Kane has denied refusing to return to Tottenham to train with his peers amid reports of an impending £150m transfer to Manchester City

The England captain has been the subject of intense scrutiny after failing to report back to Spurs for pre-season following his post-Euro 2020 break, with manager Nuno Espirito Santo revealing earlier this week that he had not even spoken to Kane since he was employed as Coach .

The wantaway star wants to move to Manchester City after spending a decade at Tottenham and in an emotional statement released on Friday, August 6 said that he has ‘never refused to train’ and is hurt by Tottenham fans ‘questioning my professionalism’

In the statement Kane said he will return to Tottenham on Saturday.

‘While I won’t go into the specifics of the situation, I want to clarify that I would never, and have never, refused to train,’ Kane said.

‘I will be returning to the club tomorrow, as planned.’

Kane revealed his hurt at Spurs fans who have criticised their talisman’s perceived poor behaviour in an effort to make his transfer to City happen, saying that for almost a decade supporters at White Hart Lane have ‘shown me total love and support’.

‘That’s why it hurts to read some of the comments that have been made this week, questioning my professionalism,’ Kane said, adding that he ‘wouldn’t do anything to jeopardise the relationship I have with the fans.’

"It hurts"- Harry Kane denies reports he has refused to return to Tottenham training amid ?150m rumored transfer to Man City

The statement by Kane comes after City boss Pep Guardiola talked about his desire to sign Kane publicly on Friday.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has no intention of selling Kane – who still has three years left on his Spurs contract – for less than £150million, meaning City would have to break the British transfer record again just after signing Jack Grealish for £100m.

‘If Tottenham don’t want to negotiate, it’s finished,’ Guardiola said. ‘If they are open then all the clubs in the world will want to sign him.

‘It depends on Tottenham. Harry is an extraordinary striker. We are interested in him but if Tottenham don’t want to negotiate, nothing more to say.’

Meghan Markle’s father sent her flowers and a card for her birthday but she is yet to respond

Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas Markle Sr., has revealed that he sent his daughter birthday gifts but she didn’t acknowledge them.

Thomas Marle tells TMZ he sent the Duchess of Sussex a bouquet of roses along with a personalized card that simply said, “Wishing you a happy birthday and brighter days.”

This was on August 4, when Meghan turned 40.

The bouquet Thomas sent featured a dozen red roses with 2 yellow roses in the middle, signifying Meghan and Prince Harry’s 2 children.

Thomas said he specifically wanted to incorporate his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet, in Meghan’s birthday flower arrangement. He added that he wants to be a part of their lives because it seems to him the kids don’t have enough family around them in Montecito.

German Pentathlon Coach Kicked out of Tokyo Olympics for Punching her Horse (video)

German modern pentathlon coach, Kim Raisner has been kicked out of the Tokyo Olympics for punching horse ‘Saint Boy’ during the competition.

The horse rider, Annika Schleu was struggling to control the horse during the show jumping round of the women’s modern pentathlon on Friday, August 6, so Raisner tried to get the seemingly uncomfortable horse under its control by repeatedly punching it to help her get the rattled nag under her spell.

Pentathlon coach kicked out of Tokyo Olympics for repeatedly punching horse after it refused to obey commands making her miss out on Gold (video)

The coach has now been disqualified from the games for striking the animal.

Hitting the horse, an offense in the sport clearly did no good as rider, Schleu could not get Saint Boy to cooperate and rode around the arena in tears as the animal refused to do any of the show jumping that the Germans were looking for.

Schleu had been in gold medal position after the first two events, and had finished fourth in Rio five years ago. After realising that Saint Boy was not in the mood to comply with her instructioons, she started crying knowing her Gold dreams could not be achieved

As a result of the horse’s disobedience, Schleu tumbled from first to 31st position on the leaderboard.

Horses are randomly assigned to riders ahead of the show jumping and riders get just 20 minutes to try and bond with their new equine teammate.

The Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM), the governing body for modern pentathlon released a statement confirming Raisner’s punishment.

The statement read: ‘The UIPM Executive Board (EB) has given a black card to the Germany team coach Kim Raisner, disqualifying her from the remainder of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

‘The EB reviewed video footage that showed Ms Raisner appearing to strike the horse Saint Boy, ridden by Annika Schleu, with her fist during the riding discipline of the women’s modern pentathlon competition.

‘Her actions were deemed to be in violation of the UIPM competition rules, which are applied to all recognised modern pentathlon competitions including the Olympic Games.

‘The EB decision was made today at the Tokyo Stadium before the resumption of the men’s modern pentathlon competition.’

Roman Abramovich, Chelsea’s Owner, Requests Urgent Meeting with Lionel Messi’s Reps

Chelsea Billionaire owner, Roman Abramovich, is now reportedly trying to sign Lionel Messi after Barcelona announced this week the superstar player will be leaving the club.

According to reports, Abramovich is said to have ‘requested an urgent meeting’ with Messi’s representatives.

On Thursday, August 5, Barcelona announced that Messi, 34, will leave the club after 21 years, as they will not be able to renew his contract due to financial regulations in Spain.

It means Messi is now a free agent, with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain in pole position to sign him.

However, PSG may not be able to meet his wage demands and City have just spent £100million on Jack Grealish, while also in pursuit of £150m Harry Kane.

According to the reputable AS in Spain, Abramovich has ‘set his eyes’ on Messi and ‘requested an urgent meeting’ with his team.

The Blues are in the market for a new attacker with Erling Haaland a major target at the start of the summer.

Haaland is now set to stay put at Borussia Dortmund, with Chelsea switching focus to Inter’s Romelu Lukaku.

However, the surprise news about Messi’s sudden availability has now made Chelsea switch focus with the report claiming Chelsea are continuing negotiations for Lukaku while exploring the possibility of signing Messi.

The report also suggests a move to France is ‘almost impossible’ due to high taxes and the club’s need to reduce their wage bill.

It has been speculated that Messi may prefer a move to City, where the legendary forward could link up with former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola. But Chelsea’s new interest could now change the direction because Chelsea is in a stronger financial position to sign Messi.

Student who Killed his Girlfriend for Cheating, Jailed for more than 11-Years

A jealous student who ran over his girlfriend at a party and left her with life-changing injuries after accusing her of cheating because she had messages from another man, has been jailed.

Lakshmam Samarakoon has been jailed for more than 11 years after he flew into a rage and mowed down his partner in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, with his parents’ car.

Victim Dina Sapra, who was 18 at the time, was left with multiple broken bones in her left leg and injured so severely doctors considered amputating the limb.

Sapra, who was very bright in school, had to put her academic life on hold. She was also good at swimming, playing netball, and tennis, but won’t be able to compete in the sports again.

The Aylesbury Crown Court was told that the 20-year-old defendant had a pattern of controlling behaviour – constantly tracking his girlfriend’s movements on Snapchat, spying on her phone for messages from other boys, checking her pictures to see who she was with, and regularly blocking any male contacts.

When Ms. Sapra went on holiday with her family to Dubai in 2018, Samarakoon told her he would kill himself when he saw pictures of her socializing with other people.

After midnight last July 12, both the defendant and Ms. Sapra went to a mutual friend’s 18th birthday party in Amersham. Ms. Sapra reportedly arrived first and when Samarakoon, then aged 19, got to the party in his parents’ Vauxhall and saw messages from a male friend on his girlfriend’s phone.

Samarakoon accused her of cheating on him, then took her phone and headed back to the vehicle. Ms. Sapra followed, demanding he returned her mobile phone, but Samarakoon reversed the vehicle, forcing Ms. Sapra to jump out of the way.

She ran away up onto the pavement, however, Samarakoon turned the car in her direction, drove onto the pavement, and hit her, leaving his partner lying on the ground, the court heard.

CCTV footage played at Aylesbury Crown Court showed Samarakoon immediately get out of the car and go to Ms. Sapra as she lay in the road while talking on the phone.

The court later learned he had called 999 and confessed to the crime. He asked for police to come and arrest him stating that he had made a “terrible mistake”.

Paramedics arrived at the scene, taking Ms. Sapra to John Radcliffe Hospital for emergency treatment while police arrested Samarakoon.

Claire Robinson, prosecuting, said during Samarakoon sentencing hearing: “He wanted to be the biggest priority in her life.

“There was less trust in her and he wanted to see photos, check her phone and sometimes blocked contact from boys she had contact with on social media..”

Judge Francis Sheridan sentenced Samarakoon to 11 years and eight months in prison after he pleaded guilty to one charge of grievous bodily harm with intent.

Sentencing him, the judge said: “This was a wicked offence driven by jealousy. This was the worst decision you have ever made in your own selfish way.

“This was your girlfriend who you have effectively maimed for life. This was an offence driven by jealousy on a loving girl.

“You believed you deserved to have the ultimate say as to what she did with her own life, you had no right.

“After you crashed into her, when sense descended and you tried your best to prevent whatever you could, she didn’t want you to touch her. Who can blame her?

“It’s not a knife, it’s not a gun, but it was just the same damage when you deliberately drive into somebody.

“It just shows everybody you can destroy someone’s life chances even at slow speeds if you deliberately mow them down.”

Samarakoon also received an eight-year driving ban, which will come into effect when he gets out of prison on licence.

He has also been handed an indefinite restraining order against his victim.

Another charge Samarakoon pleaded guilty to was causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drink driving.

Israel and Hezbollah fire Rockets at each other for the Past 3 Days (photos)

The militant Hezbollah group fired a barrage of rockets toward Israel and Israel hit back with artillery in a significant escalation between the two sides on Friday, August 6.

The Friday attacks along the volatile border with Lebanon, is a dangerous escalation of the conflict and makes it the third day of attacks .   Ten out of the 19 rockets fires were intercepted by the defense system known as the Iron Dome.

Friday’s exchanges comes a day after Israel’s defense minister warned that his country is prepared to strike Iran following a fatal drone strike on a oil tanker at sea that his country blamed on Tehran.

Israel has long considered Hezbollah, which is based in Lebanon, its most serious and immediate military threat claiming the country has over 100,000 rockets it can use to fire anywhere in Israel.

Israel said it fired back after 19 rockets were launched from Lebanon, and new Prime Minister Naftali Bennett swiftly convened a meeting with the country’s top defense officials. No casualties were reported.

“We do not wish to escalate to a full war, yet of course we are very prepared for that,” said Lt. Col. Amnon Shefler, spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces.

The tensions come at a politically sensitive time in Israel and Lebanon.

In Israel, a new eight-party governing coalition is already trying to keep the peace in a fragile cease-fire that ended an 11-day war with Hamas’ militant rulers in Gaza.

While Lebanon is facing multiple crises including a devastating economic and financial meltdown and political deadlock that has left the country without a functional government for a full year.

During the attack, Sirens blared across the Golan Heights and Upper Galilee near the Lebanon border Friday morning. Hezbollah said in a statement that it hit “open fields” in the disputed Shebaa farms area.

The group said it fired 10 rockets, calling it retaliation for Israeli airstrikes the day before. Israel said those strikes were in response to rocket fire from southern Lebanon in recent days.

Shebaa Farms is an enclave where the borders of Israel, Lebanon and Syria meet. Israel says it is part of the Golan Heights, which it captured from Syria in 1967. Lebanon and Syria say Shebaa Farms belong to Lebanon, while the United Nations says the area is part of Syria.

Military analysts say Hezbollah’s decision to strike open fields in a disputed area rather than populated areas in Israel was a sign the group didn’t want to escalate the conflict.

Mum Sent to Prison after leaving her Baby to Starve to Death while she Travelled to Celebrate her Birthday

A teen mum who left her daughter at home to starve to death, while she traveled to celebrate her 18th birthday, has been jailed for nine years.

Verphy Kudi abandoned 20-month-old Asiah at her flat in Brighton, England, for almost six days while she partied in London and Coventry.

She left her flat on December 5 and traveled to London to spend her birthday with her boyfriend.

On Dec 7, she attended a 1990s music concert in Elephant and Castle, south London, and had a DJ announce her birthday to partygoers while her daughter was alone at home. She stayed out until 4am at the concert.

On Dec 9, she attended another party in Coventry then went back to London before finally returning home on December 11.

Unfortunately, Asiah died from influenza and starvation after being left unattended at the flat, prosecutors said.

Kudi, now 19, returned to her flat on December 11, 2019, and found her daughter lying on the floor. She was “incoherent, distressed, and distraught” as she called paramedics.

Medics arrived at 6.12pm on December 11, 2019, before Asiah was rushed to Brighton’s Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital but could not be saved and was confirmed dead on arrival

Verphy Kudi pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced at Lewes Crown Court today, August 6.

Sentencing Kudi, Judge Christine Laing QC said: “Asiah was alone in that flat for six days unable to do anything to draw attention to her plight.

“She was a helpless child and relied completely on you as her mother to provide for her needs.

“It is almost unbearable to contemplate her suffering in the final days of her life, suffering that she endured so that you could celebrate your birthday and the birthdays of your friends as a carefree teenager.

Judge Laing added: “It goes without saying that this is a particularly tragic case and it no doubt raises strong emotions in all who hear of it, but everyone should bear in mind that the charge I sentence you for is one of manslaughter, it being accepted that you did not intend to cause Asiah death nor to cause her really serious harm.”

In a statement released by Sussex Police, Asiah and Verphy’s family said: “We are saddened by the current situation and as a family, we have many unanswered questions.

“Verphy has experienced so much at such a young age and we have always done what we can to support her.

“As a family we are in the midst of an unbearable tragedy. Not only are we coming to terms with what has happened today but we are also still grieving for our beloved Asiah.

“We would be grateful if our privacy can be respected at this moment.”

Covid-19: Cloth masks won’t Protect You from the Delta Variant, Doctors Warns

A top scientist has warned that cloth sheet masks are not going to protect people from the fast spreading covid-19 Delta variant.

The warning comes as some US states and cities face the potential of a mask mandate in response to the Delta variant.

Michael Osterholm, an epidemiologist and director of the University of Minnesota Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy, says most masks are ineffective .

“When one dawns a cloth mask, microscopic aerosols break through the material whether when people snuff or inhale, Osterholm said in an interview with CNN.

‘You know I wish we could get rid of the term masking because, in fact, it implies that anything you put in front of your face works, and if I could just add a nuance to that which hopefully doesn’t add more confusion is we know today that many of the face cloth coverings that people wear are not very effective in reducing any of the virus movement in or out’, Osterholm said.

He explained that when one wears a cloth mask during a wildfire, you are still able to smell the burning flames, exposing the flaws of a cloth mask.

“Either you’re breathing out or you’re breathing in and in fact if you’re in the upper Midwest right now anybody who’s wearing their face cloth covering can tell you they can smell all the smoke that we’re still getting,” he added.

Last month, Scott Gottlieb, MD, former Food & Drug Administration (FDA) commissioner, said that the right quality mask was necessary to protect against a strain as contagious as the Delta variant.

“It’s not more airborne, and it’s not more likely to be permeable to a mask. So a mask can still be helpful,” Gottlieb told host John Dickerson.

“I think, though, if you’re going to consider wearing a mask, the quality of the mask does matter. So if you can get your hands on a KN95 mask or an N95 mask, that’s going to afford you a lot more protection.”

Apple Plans to Scan People’s Phones for Images of Child Pornography

Apple has announced new updates to its software for iPhones and other devices saying it will start to scan U.S. iPhones for images of child sexual abuse.

The decision by Apple to start scanning phones drew applause from child protection groups but security researchers say the system could be misused by governments like China, Belarus and Nigeria looking to surveil activities of its citizens.

According to Apple,  the messaging app will use on-device machine learning to warn about sensitive content without making private communications readable by the company.

The tool Apple calls “neuralMatch” will detect known images of child sexual abuse without decrypting people’s messages. If it finds a match, the image will be reviewed by a human who can notify law enforcement if necessary.

But not everyone likes the new software update.

Top cryptography researcher, Matthew Green of Johns Hopkins, was concerned that it could be used to frame innocent people by sending them harmless but malicious images designed to appear as matches for child porn, deceiving Apple’s algorithm and alerting law enforcement – essentially framing people.

“Researchers have been able to do this pretty easily,” he said.

“What happens when the Chinese government says, ‘Here is a list of files that we want you to scan for,’” Green said. “Does Apple say no? I hope they say no, but their technology won’t say no.”

Tech companies including Microsoft, Google, Facebook and others have for years been sharing “hash lists” of known images of child sexual abuse. Apple has also been scanning user files stored in its iCloud service, which is not as securely encrypted as its messages, for such images.

More Deadly Variants of CoronaVirus are Coming – A Chinese Scientist warns

A Chinese scientist, popularly called batwoman, has issued a stark warning that more deadly Covid variants are coming.

Wuhan-based virologist Shi Zhengli is one of the world’s top researchers on coronaviruses and has discovered dozens of deadly SARS-like viruses in bat caves.

She studied samples taken from some of the first people to become infected with the new and then-mysterious respiratory illness in China in December and found it was similar to SARS.

Now, in a new interview, she has warned that more deadly variants of Covid could sweep the globe amid fears of a catastrophic fresh mutation.

Speaking to People’s Daily the scientist said: “As the number of infected cases has just become too big, this allowed the novel coronavirus more opportunities to mutate and select.

“New variants will continue to emerge.”

It comes after claims that a new Covid mutant could emerge which could kill more than a third of the people it infects.

Documents published by the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) said that future strains of the novel coronavirus could be as deadly as MERS.

In such a scenario, the virus could kill 35 per cent of those it infects.

The panel, which advises the government on its pandemic response, warned that such mutations are most likely to occur when the virus is widely spread.

Taliban Regime ‘Executes 900 Souls in 6 Weeks including Comedian, Police Officers, Village Rulers

The Taliban have executed 900 people in six weeks in just one province as its fighters overran government troops, a police chief has claimed

The victims included police officers, tribal elders, civil activists, and even a popular comedian who were dragged from their homes and killed in southern Kandahar province, the region’s former head of police Tadin Khan said.

The police chief also disclosed that the Islamist fighters have recaptured much of the province and have laid siege to the regional capital – also named Kandahar – as they push to retake control of the country following US troop withdrawal.

Many of the deaths occurred in the town of Spin Boldak, on the border with Pakistan, Khan told Afghan news outlet TOLO.

‘The people have suffered enormously,’ he said. ‘The brutality that occurred in Boldak is unforgivable.’

Among them was comedian Nazar Mohammad, who previously served in the Afghan police, who had his throat slit before images of his body were posted online.

Other targets of the Islamists have been Afghan soldiers in hiding,  some of whom may have surrendered to the Taliban rather than fight on the promise they would be allowed to return safely home.

Religious scholars, government employees, and anyone thought to be a supporter of the government has also been targeted, Khan said.

The Taliban has denied claims of executions.

COVID-19 Vaccine: 3 CNN Staffs Sacked for Refusing to take Covid-19 Vaccine

CNN has fired three employees for entering its New York headquarters without being vaccinated for protection against COVID-19.

This was disclosed in a memo from the cable news network’s president.

“In the past week, we have been made aware of three employees who were coming to the office unvaccinated,” said the memo sent to CNN staff on Thursday August 5 and obtained by the Times.

“All three have been terminated. Let me be clear — we have a zero-tolerance policy on this,” added the memo. “You need to be vaccinated to come to the office. And you need to be vaccinated to work in the field, with other employees, regardless of whether you enter an office or not. Period.”

The names of the dismissed employees were not revealed, according to two staffers at the WarnerMedia unit. Vaccinated employees have been allowed to return to CNN offices voluntarily.

WarnerMedia Passcard requires employees to attest to vaccinations, but showing vaccine cards has not been mandatory.

Zucker wrote that the return date “no longer feels appropriate” given the rise in Covid cases across the country. He projected a new return date of mid-October.

“We always said that we would be flexible with our decisions on all of this – as evidenced by the recent change to the Atlanta date,” he wrote. “This is another example of that. As new information is made available, we are constantly evaluating our decisions.”

Zucker also said that employees in Washington, Los Angeles and Atlanta would be required to wear masks in the office. He wrote that “it goes without saying that even in places that we don’t mandate it, anyone who wants to wear a mask should absolutely do so. These decisions can be very personal for people – no two situations are the same. Everyone should do what feels most comfortable for them, without any fear of retaliation or judgment from co-workers.”

Romelu Lukaku in Agreement with ‘a Five-Years Deal with Chelsea’

Romelu Lukaku has reportedly agreed terms on a five-year contract with Chelsea, worth around £212,000-a-week.

The Belgian goal machine is now edging closer to sealing his return back to west London following his departure in 2014.

Despite failing with a bid of £85.3m plus Marcos Alonso, multiple reports suggest that Chelsea will eventually get a deal over the line with Lukaku open to another spell at Stamford Bridge.

According to football. london, an agreement is already in place with regards to a five-year contract for the Belgium international. All that is left to resolve in the final fee between the two clubs with negotiations now nearing a conclusion.

Inter are now expected to sell up after Lukaku himself made it known that he wanted to join Chelsea.

Lukaku has scored 64 goals in all competitions during his first two years at San Siro.

Tuchel refused to comment on Chelsea’s pursuit of Lukaku on Wednesday night following the 2-2 draw with Tottenham.

“I will not talk about players who don’t play in my squad,” the former PSG boss said. “He is a fantastic player but a player from Inter and with all due respect I will not talk about him. Not everybody but I can imagine a lot of players want to come and join [Chelsea] but we don’t comment on that.”

Lionel Messi Disappointed by Barcelona’s Departure Announcement

Lionel Messi is reportedly shocked by Barcelona’s departure announcement

On Thursday, the Spanish giants announced that the captain will no longer stay at the club after 21 years with a bombshell statement, claiming that La Liga rules made it impossible for Barça to register Messi’s contract,

According to Mundo Deportivo, Messi and his family were quite taken aback by Barcelona’s announcement. Having been on a holiday in Ibiza since the conclusion of Argentina’s Copa America campaign, Messi had returned from the vacation to sign his contract on Wednesday.

Reports in the media as well as the comments from the Barca board assured fans of Messi’s stay, with only the signature of the Argentine forward keeping them from making an official announcement.

Barca, on Thursday, August 5, called Messi to inform him that they could not register him as a player due to La Liga’s restrictions. The club, hence, was forced to say goodbye to Lionel Messi, their greatest player ever.

“Despite FC Barcelona and Lionel Messi having reached an agreement and the clear intention of both parties to sign a new contract today, this cannot happen because of Spanish LaLiga regulations on player registration.

As a result of this situation, Messi shall not be staying on at FC Barcelona. Both parties deeply regret that the wishes of the player and the club will ultimately not be fulfilled.

FC Barcelona wholeheartedly expresses its gratitude to the player for his contribution to the aggrandisement of the club and wishes him all the very best for the future in his personal and professional life.” — FC Barcelona said in a statement on Thursday.

Messi, as has been understood, had no intentions of leaving Barcelona and was looking forward to spending the coming years with his boyhood club. The 32-year-old hasn’t made any public reaction to the development and isn’t expected to do that anytime soon either.

Messi has won the Ballon d’Or six times and is Barcelona’s record goalscorer with 672 goals in 778 appearances.
