France’s ambassador heads back to US after Joe Biden apologizes to Macron over Nuclear Submarine deal with Australia

France has agreed to resend its ambassador to the US back to Washington after US President Joe Biden spoke for the first time Wednesday, September 22 with French President Emmanuel Macron following the fallout over a deal to equip Australia with nuclear-powered submarines.

In the call, Biden acknowledged missteps in how the United States approached the talks. Last week the US, UK and Australia announced it has agreed a deal to sell nuclear powered submarines to Australia which will help Australia in deterrence efforts against China in the Pacific .

The move angered France as they had already agreed a $50b deal with Australia in 2016 to sell diesel powered submarines to Australia, even though the submarines France wanted to sell to Australia are no match for the US nuclear submarines.

France who were shocked by the deal as they had not been informed by the US prior to the announcement, recalled its ambassador to the US and Australia saying the deal felt like a ‘stab in the back’

A joint statement on Wednesday, between the United States and France said Macron and Biden “agreed that the situation would have benefitted from open consultations among allies on matters of strategic interest to France and our European partners.”

“President Biden conveyed his ongoing commitment in that regard,” the statement said.

Biden himself has ignored all questions on the France dispute since the crisis erupted at the end of last week, but officials said he was surprised by the outsized reaction from Paris and wanted to smooth things over with his counterpart.

In their call, Biden and Macron agreed to meet at the end of next month in Europe. Biden had already planned to attend a Group of 20 summit in Rome at the end of October.

“The two leaders have decided to open a process of in-depth consultations, aimed at creating the conditions for ensuring confidence and proposing concrete measures toward common objectives,” the statement read.

Macron also agreed to return his ambassador to Washington after recalling him for consultations in Paris. And Biden voiced support for “the importance of a stronger and more capable European defense,” a longtime priority for Macron.

The French President did not travel to this week’s United Nations General Assembly in New York.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson appeared to make light of France’s outrage during an interview outside the US Capitol in Washington.

“I just think it’s time for some of my dearest friends around the world to prenez un grip about this and donnez moi un break,” Johnson said, using a bit of Franglish to suggest France may be overreacting. He called the agreement a “fundamentally a great step forward for global security.”

Bitcoin’s worth drops after China declares all crypto-currency transactions illegal

The value of Bitcoin has dramatically dropped after China’s central bank on Friday, September 24 announced that all transactions of crypto-currencies are illegal, effectively banning digital tokens such as Bitcoin and ethereum in the country.

China is one of the world’s largest crypto-currency markets and 95 percent of crypto mining occurs in China.

“Virtual currency-related business activities are illegal financial activities,” the People’s Bank of China said, warning it “seriously endangers the safety of people’s assets”.

Following the announcement, the price of Bitcoin fell by more than $2,000 (£1,460).

It is the latest in China’s national crackdown on what it sees as a way to launder money and a speculative investment.

Trading crypto-currency was officially banned in China since 2019, but has continued online through foreign exchanges.

In May, Chinese state intuitions warned buyers they would have no protection for continuing to trade Bitcoin and other currencies online, as government officials vowed to increase pressure on the industry.

Then in June, it told banks and payment platforms to stop facilitating transactions and issued bans on “mining” the currencies – the trade of using powerful computers to make new coins. In September 2019, China accounted for 75% of the world’s Bitcoin energy use. By April 2021, that had fallen to 46%.

The Friday statement makes clear that those who are involved in “illegal financial activities” are committing a crime and will be prosecuted.

The statement also added that foreign websites providing such services to Chinese citizens online is also an illegal activity.

About 500 million Covid-19 vaccines will be donated to the world – US Govt.

US President Joe Biden has pledged to donate 500 million more doses of the Pfizer vaccine to developing nations from next year.

He made the pledge at a virtual Covid-19 summit on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, promising an “arsenal of vaccines”.

“To beat the pandemic here, we need to beat it everywhere,” Biden said. He added that with the new commitments, “For every one shot we’ve administered to date in America, we have now committed to do three shots to the rest of the world.”

The additional vaccines will see the total US commitment on vaccine sharing exceed one billion jabs.

The World Health Organisation has set a minimum target of 40% vaccine coverage in every country by the end of 2021.Health experts say some 11 billion doses are required to vaccinate at least 70% of the global population.

But according to data from the University of Oxford, only 2% of people in low-income countries have had their first dose, compared to many high-income countrieswho have now given at least one shot to more than half their populations.

In June, members of the G7 – Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and the US – pledged to donate one billion doses to poor countries over the next year.

Biden pledged 580m at the time, of which the US has delivered only 160m so far.

The donated vaccines are routed through Covax, the global scheme supported by the WHO to get doses where they’re needed most.

Derek Chauvin, George Floyd Killer, Appeals against 22 years in Jail

Derek Chauvin: Prosecutors to seek harsher sentence

Former Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin, convicted of the murder of African-American man George Floyd in 2020 has decided to appeal against his conviction.

Chauvin was sentenced to over 22 years in jail after kneeling on Floyd’s neck for more than nine minutes in March 2020.

His death sparked mass protests against racism and police brutality in the US and all over the world.

He was found guilty of second-degree murder and other charges, was barred from owning firearms for life and also told to register as a predatory offender.

Derek Chauvin, a white man, says there were issues with the jury at the trial and that it should not have taken place in the US state of Minneapolis, citing bias against him.

According to court documents filed on Thursday, September 23, Chauvin alleges that the trial judge abused his discretion at several key points of the case, including denying a request to postpone or move the hearing from Minneapolis due to pre-trial publicity.

Chauvin also said he had no legal representative for the appeal process as the Minnesota police department’s “obligation to pay for my representation terminated upon my conviction and sentencing”,

Chauvin then asked the US Supreme Court to review an earlier decision to deny him a publicly-financed lawyer.

Chauvin, 45, was given 90 days from the date of his sentencing on 25 June to appeal against his conviction.

Taliban Government to reintroduce amputations in new Afghan regime

Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, a founder of the Taliban who will control prisons under the new government in Afghanistan, has revealed that harsh punishments, including amputations and executions, will return to the country .

“Everyone criticized us for the punishments in the stadium, but we have never said anything about their laws and their punishments,” Turabi said in Kabul during an interview, which was published Thursday, September 23, by the Associated Press.

“No one will tell us what our laws should be. We will follow Islam, and we will make our laws on the Quran.”

Under the Taliban’s previous rule of Afghanistan, Turabi served as justice minister and head of the Ministry of Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, a position the Associated Press stated was “the religious police.”

During that time, amputations and executions were carried out for criminal offenses, including theft and highway robbery.

Now Turabi has revealed those same practices will be brought back.

“Cutting off of hands is very necessary for security,” Turabi said, claiming it was a deterrent to theft and other crime.

While it is not yet known whether the punishment will occur in public, Turabi said that Taliban officials are working to “develop a policy” to handle it and insisted the Taliban “are changed from the past,”

Turabi also said the Taliban would allow television, mobile phones, photos and videos “because this is the necessity of the people, and we are serious about it.”

He also noted that female judges would be allowed to adjudicate cases. However, Afghanistan’s laws will be based on the Quran claiming it would help spread the Taliban’s message.

“Now we know instead of reaching just hundreds, we can reach millions,” he said, adding that if executions and amputations are approved for public viewing, then people could record those instances and share them as a deterrent for what Taliban officials consider criminal offenses.

R.Kelly’s case gets hotter as he is compared to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr

An attorney for R&B superstar R. Kelly compared him to civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in his closing argument at the singer’s federal racketeering trial Thursday September 23.

Kelly attorney Deveraux Cannick said the accused sex fiend is trying to hold the government to account by making prosecutors prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt — in the same way King fought for rights guaranteed by the Constitution.

Cannick quoted from King’s “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” speech, telling jurors the civil rights leader protested in streets across America because the US government at the time was not being fair and true to all citizens.

“Somewhere I read of the freedom of speech. Somewhere I read of the freedom of assembly. Somewhere I read of the freedom of the press,” Cannick quoted King as saying in the historic address.

Cannick continued that King led the civil rights movement in an effort to make the government “be true to what’s on paper.”

“That’s all Robert is trying to do,” he added.

Cannick attacked the prosecution’s case, saying they encouraged witnesses to lie on the stand, misled jurors and pushed a false narrative.

“He didn’t have to recruit women,” Cannick said. “That’s the narrative they’re perpetuating.”

Kelly is accused of leading an enterprise of his “inner circle” employees that allowed him to recruit and sexually abuse girls for more than two decades.

Prosecutors allege he sexually abused a number of teen girls, including former R&B singer Aaliyah, whom he illegally wed when she was 15 years old.

Elon Musk says his baby mama, Grimes, are ‘semi-separated’

Elon Musk says he and Grimes have “semi-separated”.

The couple started dating in 2018 and welcomed a son in May 2020 but it appears they are no longer together.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO told Page Six in a statement on Friday, September 24: “We are semi-separated but still love each other, see each other frequently and are on great terms.

“It’s mostly that my work at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to be primarily in Texas or traveling overseas and her work is primarily in LA. She’s staying with me now and Baby X is in the adjacent room.”

The couple’s last public appearance together was at the Met Gala earlier this month. Although Grimes walked the red carpet alone, she was joined by Musk inside the dinner and he also hosted an after-party at the private members only club, Zero Bond.

Grimes hasn’t publicly commented on the status of her relationship with Musk.

President Muhammadu Buhari addresses World Leaders at UNGA

President Buhari has said that Nigeria will spare no efforts at getting rid of Boko Haram terrorists, especially in the North-East part of the West African nation.

The President said this while addressing over 80 world leaders at the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York today September 24.

Addressing the world leaders including the new UNGA President, Abdulla Shahid of Maldives, President Buhari said

“Mr President, terrorism continues to dominate security discourse worldwide. In Nigeria, Boko Haram terrorist group though fragmented by internal strife and weakened by our defence forces is still active and rein on soft targets.

Nigeria will continue to work closely with the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office with a view to bringing this group to an end.

Nigeria has spared no efforts in addressing the challenges of terrorism posed by the activities of Boko Haram in North-East Nigeria, the Lake Chad region as well as banditry in the North-West and the North-Central.”

Speaking further, President Buhari said

”Nigeria remains deeply concerned about the illicit transfer and circulation of small arms and light weapons. Their excessive accumulation and uncontrolled spread in many regions of the world have had socio-economic consequences, especially on the continent of Africa.

It is on this note that my delegation calls for the worldwide application of the arms trade treaty to curb and define accountability in conventional arms trading which is critical to the security of nations.

This is in recognition of the need for a broad-based global partnership in the ongoing battle against trans-border crimes including terrorism and piracy.

Mr President, we must deal not only with the symptoms of conflict but also the causes that started the conflict in the first place. These include poor and undemocratic governance, human rights abuses, poverty, ignorance, injustice and inequality.

There are no easy solutions to these problems, they require long-term investments and more effective international cooperation.”

Anthony Joshua set to fight Oleksandr Usyk tomorrow (photos)

Anthony Joshua has weighed in 19lbs heavier than Oleksandr Usyk ahead of their heavyweight  bout tomorrow night, September 25.

The British-Nigerian boxer came in at 240lbs for the defence of his WBO, IBF and WBO straps, the same weight he carried for his fight against Kubrat Pulev in December.  Usyk, the former undisputed world cruiserweight champion, weighed in at a career high 221.25lbs.

That is an increase on the 199.5lbs from his debut at heavyweight and the 217lbs for his triumph over Derek Chisora.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Watford-born titan hinted at what his game-plan may entail, and plans to outmuscle Usyk.

‘I can out-box him, of course I can,’ Joshua said. ‘And I can out-strength him.

‘You have to have a bit of aggression, boxing skill, head movement. There is not just one factor that determines a fight.

‘Obviously we have our go-to, our strength. I will use my strengths.

‘But it’s called a boxing match for a reason. I love the sweet science. I will display my boxing skills, but I won’t make it too complicated in there.’

He also insisted that he will attempt to knockout the Ukrainian in the fight.

‘You always aim to prepare for a 12-round fight but hope to cut it short – you aim to knock people out,’ Joshua added.

‘You learn where their strengths are, where their weaknesses are. He has good stamina. So we work around, not just losing weight, but rounds of sparring and rounds on the heavy bag to generate good stamina.

‘We build boxing memory in our muscles so they don’t get fatigued when they are exploding on the opponent’s body and face.’

The fight will take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday 25 September.

HollyWood Star, Nicolas Cage kicked out of Vegas restaurant for becoming aggressive

Hollywood star, Nicolas Cage was filmed being kicked out of a fancy Las Vegas restaurant after getting into a drunken tiff with staff and was “mistaken for a homeless man” by onlookers.

In a video shared by The Sun, the actor, 57, is seen being escorted out of Lawry’s Prime Rib near the famous Las Vegas strip last week.

According to the publication, eyewitnesses mistook the Oscar winner for a drunk homeless person.

They told The Sun that according to staff, Nicolas had been drinking expensive whiskey and shots of tequila before becoming aggressive.

He was then thrown out of the restaurant and was blocked from apparently attempting to come back into the eatery by a woman believed to be a female member of staff.

“He was in a really bad state and was walking around shoeless. Staff told us he had been downing shots of tequila and 1980 Macallan whiskey.

“He was shouting at people and trying to get into fights and then staff asked him to leave.

“He was so drunk he could barely get his flip flops on before being escorted out.

“He asked us if we wanted to come back to his place but he was in a bad way so we didn’t think it was a good idea.

“One of the regulars ended up taking him home.”

“Korean War not Ended Yet” – North Korea Says

North Korea says South Korea’s call to declare a formal end to the Korean War is premature as there is no guarantee it would lead to peace in the Korean peninsula.

The two Koreas are still technically at war after their 1950-53 conflict ended in a ceasefire following huge involvement from the US and China.

"Call to declare end of Korean War is premature - North Korea tells South Korea

Since the war ended with a ceasefire rather than a peace treaty, war can still break out between both sides at anytime with the US pledging to defend South Korea while China sides with North Korea.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Tuesday, September 21, made a call for a formal end to the Korean War in an address to the UN General Assembly and proposed that the two Koreas with the United States, or with the US and China, make such a declaration.

But North Korea has now responded saying such a move will not stop the withdrawal of “US hostile policy” toward Pyongyang, North Korean state media KCNA reported on Friday, September 24, citing Vice Foreign Minister Ri Thae Song.

“Nothing will change as long as the political circumstances around the DPRK remains unchanged and the US hostile policy is not shifted, although the termination of the war is declared hundreds of times,” Ri said on KCNA, using North Korea’s official name, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

Last week both North and South Korea fired ballistic missiles as tensions rose on peninsula. The US tried under the former Trump administration to carry out negotiations with Kim Jong Un’s administration but the attempts failed.

“The US withdrawal of its double standards and hostile policy is the top priority in stabilizing the situation of the Korean peninsula and ensuring peace on it.”

On Friday, Moon said he was confident that Pyongyang will realize it is in its interest to come to dialogue with Washington.

“It seems that North Korea is still weighing options while keeping the door open for talks, since it is only raising tension at a low level, just enough for the US to not break off all contact,” said Moon, speaking to reporters aboard South Korea’s presidential jet as he flew back to Seoul from the US after addressing the UN General Assembly.

On Tuesday, US President Joe Biden addressed the UN assembly and said the US wants “sustained diplomacy” to resolve the crisis surrounding North Korea’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs.

This week the head of the UN atomic watchdog said that Pyongyang’s nuclear program is going “full steam ahead.”

Why Nigerian Govt. will not name sponsors of terrorism?

The federal government has again explained why it can’t name sponsors of terrorism until they are tried and convicted.

Attorney-general of the federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami in a statement released by his spokesperson Umar Gwandu said the decision is a “product of constitutionalism and the law.”

According to him, naming and shaming in the Nigerian context must be rooted in constitutionalism and there must be a balance between constitutional presumption of innocence and evidential proof of reasonable ground for suspicion in making disclosures associated with terrorism funding and financing.

The statement read;

“Naming and shaming of suspects is not embarked upon as a policy by the federal government out of sheer respect the constitutional rights of Nigerians relating to presumption of innocence.

“It is a product of constitutionalism and the law. It is rooted in the law and the names of the suspects will accordingly be made public at the point of judicial arraignment while the.  Trials are judicial processes and not about media sensations.

“Naming and shaming in the Nigerian context must be rooted in constitutionalism. We must strike a balance between constitutional presumption of innocence and evidential proof of reasonable ground for suspicion in making disclosures associated with terrorism funding and financing.

“Where reasonable grounds are established, suspects must be naturally taken to court at which point their identity must be disclosed and the naming becomes apparent. Shaming, on the other hand, is the product of conviction at which point the public is equally judicially put on notice.

“In essence, naming and shaming within the context of Nigerian law are judicial functions which commence with arraignment and terminate with convictions.”

Malami also revealed that 285 out of 1000 Boko Haram case files received by the department of public prosecution, has been filed before the federal high court based on prima facie cases of terrorism.

Stressing that they have succeeded in identifying those that are responsible for funding terrorism, the AGF added that they are blocking the leakages associated with funding and embarking on aggressive investigation that is impacting positively in terms of the fight against terrorism.

He said;

“As per as terrorism funding and financing is concerned, we’ve succeeded in identifying those that are responsible for funding and we are blocking the leakages associated with funding and embarking on aggressive investigation that is impacting positively in terms of the fight against terrorism.

“Investigation is ongoing and for the purpose of investigation, I wouldn’t like to be preemptive in terms of making disclosures that would have the effect of undermining the successes we are recording as far as investigation is concerned.

“But one thing I can tell you for sure is that whatever we do in terms of detention or arrest is indeed backed by judiciary process. We obtained legitimate court orders taking into what we have presented before the court and the court exercised its discretion in terms of granting orders that we can have them in custody, pending the conclusion of investigation.”

Why e-naira in Nigeria – CBN

The Central Bank of Nigeria has explained the importance of e-naira, a digital currency it promised to launch in the country by the end of 2021.

According to the CBN, the country’s adoption of digital currency would boost cross-border trade and enable the apex bank to formulate better macroeconomic policies.

The Director, Information and Technology, CBN, Rakitya Muhammed opined this while speaking virtually at the Third Quarter Industry Forum of the Committee of E-business Industry Heads held in Abuja on Wednesday, September 22, 2021.

She said, “If people adopt more of the usage of the e-naira, then we will be able to have more data to formulate better macroeconomic policies.

“And when countries come on board and create their own digital currencies then we will be able to have a faster exchange of currencies and therefore we might be able to boost cross-border trade at a much lower cost.

“Of course payment efficiency, even though we know that Nigeria has one of the best payment systems in the world, we will still be able to improve on that.

“We believe that the e-naira will be a catalyst for digital economy because the people who are outside the formal banking sector will be integrated.”

On the e-naira design, she said that the CBN had concluded its development, and it would soon be unveiled.

She further said that the digital currency would be a legal tender like the fiat naira.

“In terms of the e-naira design, it will be a legal tender just like cash which is one of the fundamental differences between it and the cryptocurrency.

“One, e-naira will be equal to one fiat naira, and we adopted a two-tier retail model that would be a lot less disruption into the financial system.

“Our banks, payment service providers, and Fintech are all going to be on board and we are going to key to the infrastructure they have already and incorporate the new system.

“It is not meant to replace the cash we have, but only to supplement,” she said.

‘I was nearly killed at work by a ‘mean customer’ – McDonalds employee

Edmund Pieters has revealed how he came close to dying over a fellow fast-food customer’s out-of-control demand for sugar.

According to Pieters he was quietly having a breakfast of cinnamon rolls and sweet tea at McDonalds in New York City on Tuesday, 21 January.

The knife just missed my heart

Pieters, 56, a former demolition worker on disability, said that on Tuesday he had just come from a doctor’s appointment on W. 35th St., where he gets his insulin and other medication to treat his diabetes — and stopped at the McDonald’s when he came within an inch of dying.

An argument erupted, with another customer angry over there not being enough sugar in his coffee.

“He was screaming at the manager, the people in back, everybody,” Pieters, who has two daughters and four grandchildren, told the Daily News.

“He was making a real scene.”

“He was arguing about sugar in his coffee,” Pieters said. “Of all things, he wanted four more sugars. He kept going back for sugar. What did he need with like 15 sugars?

“He drank the coffee and he’s yelling, ‘I’m not satisfied,’” he said. “And they refunded his money. It couldn’t be more than $1.39.”

Pieters said the security guard looked frightened.

The knife just missed my heart

“I could see it in her face. She was telling him, ‘you gotta go’,” he recounted. “I went up behind him because he was [pretending] like he was going to hit her. She was jumpy.

“I said ‘you’re not going to touch her,’” Pieters told the man. “‘You gotta go.’”

Pieters followed them out to make sure “he didn’t swing on her,” he added.

But then the man dropped his bags and challenged Pieters. “‘What do you want to do? Come on. Come on,’” Pieters recalled him saying.

“[The security guard] was in between us and he threw the first blow,” Pieters said. “It was like a tap. I couldn’t tell if it landed.

“That’s when he got the knife [and] … stabbed me in the chest,” he said. ”He tried to get me in the heart. An inch more and I would’ve been done.”

“I looked down and the blood was gushing,” he said. “I went after him but I was getting weaker and weaker until I went down. He disappeared into Penn Station.

“The knife must’ve been 5 or 6 inches — a nice size,” he said. “The wound was right up under my heart. The doctor said any closer and you wouldn’t be sitting here. And the doctor’s right, I’m definitely blessed.”

Pieters was taken to Bellevue by ambulance were he was supposed to stay a couple of days, but signed himself out because he wanted to go home, he said.

The suspected stabber, described as a bearded man with glasses carrying several tote bags, ran off and is on the run. The NYPD is still searching for him.

Over 33 men rape a 15-year-old girl in sex attack case in India

A 15-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped on several occasions by up to 33 men in the latest horrifying sex attack case in India.

The attacks took place at various locations in the Thane district of Maharashtra state over the last eight months, a senior police official confirmed.

Police have arrested 24 people and detained two minors in connection with the case so far, Dattatray Karale, additional commissioner of police (East region), said on Thursday.

According to Times of India, the girl is in a stable condition undergoing treatment at a government hospital.

It was also reported that angry crowds had gathered outside the police station where the men are being held, to protest against the attack.

Police in the city of Dombivli registered a case on Wednesday night against 33 people accused of crimes including rape, repeated rape, gang-rape and rape of a minor, Karale said.

He added that the alleged offences were said to have happened between January 29 and September 22 of this year.

‘It all started when the lover of the girl raped her in January and made a video of the incident. He started blackmailing her on the basis of that video.

‘Later on, his friends and acquaintances gang-raped her at least on four to five occasions at different places, including Dombivli, Badlapur, Murbad and Rabale in the district,’ Business Standard of India reported Karale as saying.

A special investigative team has been formed to probe the case.

‘The victim has named 33 persons. Out of them, 24 persons have been arrested and two minors detained in this connection. The girl’s condition is said to be stable,’ Karale said.

Police are searching for the other suspects, while those already arrested will be remanded in custody until September 29.

The two minors will be remanded in custody at a children’s remand home.

Ex. Netflix Manager Accused of Raping his Wife

A warrant of arrest has been issued for former Netflix executive, Diego Bunuel who was accused of raping his wife.

The Post reported that 46-year-old Bunuel who was head of documentaries for the global streamer and now helms programming at French state broadcaster France Télévisions, allegedly assaulted his wife, writer and socialite Maggie Kim, in the US in 2017, according to court documents.

Kim had in the 2017 court papers alleged that Bunuel raped her in the US, 10 days after filing for divorce.

The French-born grandson of famed filmmaker Luis Bunuel is being charged with felony rape of Kim including one on Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts, and the warrant for his arrest is still active.

Court documents said Kim who lives between Los Angeles and France, claimed she was left “in actual fear of her life” and struggled to escape after Bunuel allegedly told her he wanted to hurt her.

Bunuel currently has custody of their two children and is now living with them in France. Kim however said he will not let her bring the children who also have dual US and French citizenship back to the US.

Court papers seen by The Post were filed at Dukes County Superior Court in Massachusetts in the related civil lawsuit last year, and it read;

“As a result of the willful and/or malicious conduct of the Defendant, the plaintiff sustained abrasions and contusions to her neck and body.

“In addition, the plaintiff suffered mental and emotional anguish, nervousness, increased heart rhythm, shortness of breath and increased blood pressure, some or all of which are likely to be permanent in  nature.

“As a further result of the willful and/or malicious conduct of the Defendant, the Plaintiff has been and will be unable to engage in personal and family, leisure and social activities as she did prior to the incidents, all of which has and will cause her loss.”

The couple who got married from 2007 until 2017 when they seperated, are still not legally divorced.

The former Netflix executive got custody of their children from a French court, and it was also learnt that in April, a Massachusetts judge dismissed Kim’s civil suit and ruled that a French court could oversee the rape case that allegedly happened in Martha’s Vineyard.

Kim through her lawyer, Ryan McGuigan is attempting to overturn the decision in court. McGuigan said told The Post;

“It seems that Bunuel is using his arrest warrant as an excuse to prevent Miss Kim from taking her children back to the US, when they are US citizens.

“Even more shocking is that a judge in Massachusetts has dismissed Miss Kim’s civil claims of sexual battery that occurred on Martha’s Vineyard as the judge ruled he thought that she could bring this claim in France. The court decided that it was more convenient for the case to be brought in a foreign country, where the rape did not actually occur. We disagree.

“It appears Bunuel committed the sexual assault on Martha’s Vineyard after he had surreptitiously filed divorce papers in France.

“Martha’s Vineyard has long been a vacation destination of billionaire playboys, impaired senators and ex-presidents.

“The Public could interpret it to mean that the powerful and the privileged on Martha’s Vineyard continue to receive preferential treatment when they abuse the under-privileged. What the Public could interpret from this case is that it is acceptable for someone to come to Martha’s Vineyard [to] commit a crime and get away with it.”

Kim is now splitting time between the US and France to see her kids.

2 ‘Yahoo Yahoo Boys’ Sent to Prison

Oyekan Abdulbaqqi Adedoyin, a self-identified Lagos prince from Kosofe Local Government Area has been sentenced to a 6-month jail term by an Ilorin High Court for cybercrime offenses. Prince Oyekan, 25, was jailed alongside one Oni Stephen Oluwaferanmi from Ilesha, Osun State, by Justice Siriku Oyinloye.

The Sun reports that Oyekan and Oni were prosecuted on separate charges by the Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). They both pleaded guilty when the charges were read to them.

Upon their pleas, counsel to the EFCC Andrew Akoja led witnesses to review the facts of the two cases. The witnesses, who are operatives of the Commission, narrated how the defendants were arrested based on credible intelligence. The prosecution tendered items recovered from the defendants at the point of arrest including phones, laptops and fraudulent messages printed from the defendants’ email addresses, which the court admitted in evidence.

Justice Oyinloye, while delivering judgment on the cases, said that the court had carefully evaluated all the material evidence placed before it, the plea of guilt and the uncontroverted testimonies of the prosecution witnesses. He held that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt

Consequently, he convicted and sentenced the defendants.

The judge sentenced Prince Oyekan to six months imprisonment with an option of a fine of N150,000. The court also ordered forfeiture to the Federal Government Oyekan’s iPhone and a Dell laptop, which the convict used to perpetrate the crime.

Justice Oyinloye sentenced Oni to one year imprisonment with an option of a fine of N350,000. He also ordered the forfeiture of the convict’s phone to the Federal Government. In addition, the judge ordered the convict to pay $775 as restitution to his victim through the EFCC within 78 hours or risk another six months imprisonment.

Donald Trump sues his New York Times and his niece for $100M

Former US President, Donald Trump is suing his niece and the New York Times over a 2018 article that alleged he was involved in “dubious tax schemes”

The $100m lawsuit, filed in New York, accuses Mary Trump and the New York Times newspaper reporters of being “engaged in an insidious plot” to obtain confidential documents.

The suit alleges that Ms Mary Trump, 56, breached a settlement agreement with the Trump family that barred her from disclosing the documents.

Remember that after the Times released a story about Trump’s tax returns in 2019, Mary revealed herself as the source of the story in a tell-all memoir in 2020.

Ms Trump is the daughter of Fred Trump Jr, the president’s older brother who died in 1981 at the age of 42.

Trump has consistently rejected the claims made in his niece’s book – Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man – and unsuccessfully sued to try to block its publication in 2020.

Trump sues his niece and New York Times for $100m

On Tuesday, September 21, a lawsuit filed in a state court accused New York Times journalists Susanne Craig, David Barstow and Russell Buettner of contacting and working with Donald Trump’s niece as part of a “personal vendetta” against him.

“A group of journalists with the New York Times, in the middle of an extensive crusade to obtain Donald J Trump’s confidential tax records, relentlessly sought out his niece Mary… and convinced her to smuggle the records out of her attorney’s office,” the lawsuit reads.

It alleges that Donald Trump “suffered significant damages” and states that he is seeking compensation of no less than $100m (£73m).

In her book, Mary Trump describes how she supplied tax documents to the New York Times, which were used to form part of a 14,000 word investigative article into Trump’s “dubious tax schemes during the 1990s, including instances of outright fraud, that greatly increased the fortune he received from his parents”.

One of the reporters named in the lawsuit, Ms Craig, tweeted in response to the allegations: “I knocked on Mary Trump’s door. She opened it. I think they call that journalism.”

Last year, Mary Trump filed her own lawsuit accusing the former US leader and two family members of fraud and conspiracy, alleging that the then-president, his sister Maryanne Trump Barry and brother Robert Trump – who died last August – cheated her out of an inheritance.

Man request for $4.5M in damages after discovering that his neighbor is the father of a child

A Zimbabwean man has filed a lawsuit before a court after discovering that the last born child from his 27-year-old marriage was not his but a neighbour’s.

Murambiwa Murangariri petitioned a High Court for an order compelling his neighbor, Tineyi Lavite Tapfumaneyi to pay him $4.5 Million as damages.  The distraught man said the actions of his neighbor has left his family in disarray and caused him extreme distress.

Murangariri who has been married to his wife Chipo Musonza for 27 years and have four children with her, said Tineyi had earlier been forced to pay two beasts by a traditional court after admitting to the adulterous affair with his wife (Musonza).

He added that the affair continued after the fine. The court paper read;

“The defendant is even defaming the plaintiff by alluding to the fact that he is not man enough. The plaintiff has just obtained confirmation that the last born is not his progeny but was fathered by the defendant.”

Murangariri also revealed that his marriage to Musonza has irretrievably broken down after finding out that he looked after Tineyi’s child. The document added;

“The plaintiffs marriage has irretrievably collapsed. The defendant did not have the right to say or act in the manner that he did. The plaintiff has had his good standing affected in the community because of the defendant impregnated the plaintiff’s wife and made the plaintiff to look after a child that is not his.”

New Zimbabwe reported that the plaintiff is now seeking for $3 million as damages for the upkeep of the child who is not his, $1 million for shock, distress and degradation and $500 000 as general damages.

Angelina Jolie trying to cheat Brad Pitt out of a lucrative deal over their $164M French Estate

Court papers filed on Tuesday September 21, has revealed that Angelina Jolie has been sued for allegedly using devious means to cut ex-husband Brad Pitt out of a lucrative real estate deal involving a posh estate they co-owned in France.

In the documents filed in Luxembourg, Jolie was accused of trying to sell off her 50 percent stake in the $164 million Chateau Miraval in Correns, France, without giving Pitt the first option to buy her out.

Claims of petty dealing over the estate which is where the couple got married in a secret ceremony in 2014 with just their six kids present, is coming just after their lawyers headed back to court on Monday September 19, in their long-running custody dispute over their children.

Angelina Jolie accused of

Page Six which obtained the court documents, reported that the former couple held their shares for Miraval in separate limited liability companies (LLCs).

Miraval is owned by Quimicum, a company in which Pitt originally held a 60 percent share through his company Mondo Bongo, while Jolie held 40 percent through her company Nouvel.

Angelina Jolie accused of

Three years before they split in 2016, Pitt transferred 10 percent of the estate from Mondo Bongo to Jolie’s Nouvel, making them equal shareholders.

Part of their agreement include asking each other for permission if they ever wanted to sell their shares. Jolie is however accused of trying to sneakily sell her shares without giving Pitt right of first refusal.

A source said;

“He did all the work; she did nothing.

“It’s another example of Angelina trying to circumvent the rules and avoid their obligations.”

It was claimed in the lawsuit that the 10 percent transfer should be void as the shares were “sold” for only €1 and not a “serious” amount as required by Luxembourg law. It is now valued at over €140 million (about $164 million).

Angelina Jolie accused of

The lawsuit read;

“It is worth mentioning that, for the last four years, Nouvel [Jolie’s company] did not act in the best interest of Quimicum by systematically delaying the approval of the annual accounts and the renewal of the manager.

“We understand that behind this systematic obstruction, the real purpose of Nouvel and its shareholder [Jolie] is to sell its stake in Chateau Miraval SA in a way that would circumvent Mondo Bongo’s right of first refusal (as provided in Quimicum’s articles of approval), taking, as a result, a capital gain raised thanks to Mondo Bongo’s investment and to which Nouvel did not contribute.”

Jolie filed for divorce in August 2016, citing “irreconcilable differences” and requesting primary custody of five of their six children: Pax, 17, Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 15, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 13. Son Maddox is now 20.

Cyber crime increases by 30% in the UK after £754M was stolen from bank customers

Fraud in the UK has sparked a warning of “national security threat” after £754m was stolen from bank customers during the first half of this year,  a 30% rise on the same period in 2020.

According to UK Finance, fraudsters had capitalised on the coronavirus pandemic, with criminals targeting children as young as 14 via social media to become money mules.

The banking body said the losses from bank transfer scams leapt by 71% to £355m during the first half of the year, almost £2m a day. There were a total of 106,164 cases of such fraud, equivalent to 12 people being defrauded every half an hour.

There had also been a notable increase in the use of cryptocurrency wallets to quickly move stolen money outside the banking system.

Consumer bodies say banks often wrongly try to pin the blame for fraud on their customers. However, UK Finance said much of the criminal activity was taking place outside the banking system and called on the big tech companies to do more to clamp down on the fraud being perpetrated on their platforms.

The consumer body which described the sums lost during the pandemic as “a staggering amount”.

In previous years, the largest losses have involved debit and credit cards being used to commit fraud but this year scammers focused their activity on authorised push payment fraud. This often involves email accounts being hacked in order to trick individuals and businesses into sending money to bank accounts operated by criminals posing as genuine customers.

Impersonation scams were up 123% in the first six months of 2021 compared with the same period last year.

Investment scam losses, meanwhile, were up 95% as criminals exploited the low-interest-rate environment to post adverts on social media offering high returns.

“We also saw changes in how criminals moved stolen money,” UK Finance said. “They targeted people as young as 14 via social media platforms to become money mules, where their bank account is used to launder stolen money.”

It went on to say that “fraud is now at a level where it poses a national security threat”.

UK Finance is demanding government-coordinated action across all sectors to tackle the problem, including ensuring that all economic crime is brought within the scope of the online safety bill.

A man has been killed by a beer keg that exploded at his birthday party while he was trying to fix it.

She said: “My uncle called them (the keg rental company) and they gave him instructions on how to start fixing it until they arrived.

“The beer wasn’t coming out, only foam.”

Police spokesperson Clovis Nei da Silva said the case is currently being treated as an accident, adding: “We are interviewing witnesses at the scene at the time of the incident.

“For now, the incident has been registered and an autopsy has been requested.”

Gilson’s wife, sister and 15-year-old son were also at the birthday party which quickly turned to tragedy.

His niece said the family is “very shaken” by his death, which came just six years after he battled against cancer.

His godmother Angela Maria de Oliveira told local media: “He was a warrior, a working man, a wonderful family man.

“He was everything to us. He will be sorely missed in our lives, it was a full house with him, always a full house.”

Gilson’s autopsy took place on September 18, on the morning after his death, and he was buried the following day at Jardim da Memoria Cemetery in Novo Hamburgo.

The news site G1 said the company Chopp Express had supplied the keg for the birthday bash.

The firm’s lawyer, Jose Adelmo de Oliveira, said the customer was told not to touch the equipment as a technician was on his way to the house to resolve the problem.

According to the lawyer, when the technician arrived, the barrel had already exploded and the victim was dead at the scene.

Jose Luis Giovanella, president of the Association of Microbreweries, said the brewery and delivery company involved are being questioned to establish whether the equipment was faulty.

We will enforce one-month lockdown in south-east if FG fails to bring Kanu to court – IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has threatened to impose a one-month lockdown in South-East region of the country, if the federal government fails to bring its leader, Nnamdi Kanu to court on October 21.

Recall that the IPOB leader’s trial was adjourned by Justice Binta Nyako on July 26 after the federal government failed to produce him in court.

In a statement by IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, the proscribed group alleged that the federal government of Nigeria has perfected plans not to bring Nnamdi Kanu to court on the scheduled date.

Stating that the alleged plan to “perpetually keep him behind bars without trial to see if they can demoralise him and Biafrans” won’t work, IPOB said it will impose a one month lockdown in South-East to make the federal government know they can’t take them for granted.

The statement read;

“The attention of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by our great prophet and liberator of our time, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has been drawn to the plot by Nigeria government and DSS in Abuja not to produce our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to court on 21st October 2021, the date he is due to appear in court to start his case.

“The federal government of Nigeria has again perfected plans not to bringing him to court on that day. Their wicked plan is to perpetually keep him behind bars without trial to see if they can demoralise him and Biafrans but they are late.

“If the federal government refuses to bring him to court in his next court appearance on October 21, 2021, the entire Biafra land will be on total lock down for one month. The federal government will know that they cannot take us for granted any more. Our peaceful disposition as a people should not be misconstrued as weakness.

“Their plan is to suppress agitation and force everyone into submission but Biafrans won’t succumb to their intimidation.”

Taliban requested to address world leaders at United Nations General Assembly in New York

The Taliban have asked to address world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly this week in New York City.

A United Nations committee will rule on the request but it is very unlikely to happen during the current session of the body.

Before making their request, the Taliban who are still seeking international legitimacy, nominated their Doha-based spokesperson, Suhail Shaheen, as Afghanistan’s UN ambassador.

The Taliban, which seized control of Afghanistan last month, said the envoy for the ousted government no longer represented the country.

The request to participate in the high-level debate is being considered by a credentials committee which includes the US, China and Russia, UK, France etc according to a UN spokesperson.

But the credentials committee is unlikely to meet before the end of the General Assembly session next Monday, 28 September. Until then, under UN rules, Ghulam Isaczai will remain Afghanistan’s ambassador to the global body.

He is expected to make a speech on the final day. However the Taliban said his mission “no longer represents Afghanistan”.

No government in the world has formally recognised the Taliban as Afghanistan’s new government although Pakistan and China have moved to normalize relations.

If the UN agrees for the Taliban’s nominee for ambassador to speak it will be an important step towards international acceptance.

In the Taliban’s request to the UN, the Taliban also said that several countries no longer recognised former President Ashraf Ghani as leader.

Ghani fled Afghanistan as Taliban militants advanced on the capital, Kabul, on 15 August. He has since taken refuge in the United Arab Emirates.

At the UN meeting on Tuesday, September 21, Qatar urged world leaders to stay engaged with the Taliban.

“Boycotting them would only lead to polarisation and reactions, whereas dialogue could be fruitful,” said Qatar’s ruler, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Qatar hosted talks between the Taliban and US which culminated in a 2020 agreement to withdraw US-led Nato forces.

Nigeria has borrowed $4bn through Eurobonds, Again

Nigeria has borrowed another $4bn through Eurobonds.

This raises Nigeria’s Eurobond debt from $10.37bn as of the end of March to $14.37bn, according to figures obtained from DMO’s external debt stock figure.

The amount was raised after an intensive two days of virtual meetings with investors across the globe.

The Debt Management Office (DMO) disclosed this in a statement on its website on Tuesday evening, September 21.

The DMO said in the statement: “After an intensive two days of virtual meetings with investors across the globe, Nigeria has raised the sum of $4bn through Eurobonds.

“The order book peaked at $12.2bn which enabled the Federal Government of Nigeria to raise $1bn more than the $3bn it initially announced.

“This exceptional performance has been described as ‘one of the biggest financial trades to come out of Africa in 2021 and an ‘excellent outcome’. Bids for the Eurobonds were received from investors in Europe and America as well as Asia.

“There was also good participation by local investors. The size of the order book and the quality of investors demonstrated confidence in Nigeria.”

The Eurobonds were issued in three tranches, details, namely seven years–,$1.25 billion at 6.125 per cent per annum; 12 years -$1.5 billion at 7.375 per cent per annum as well as 30 years -$1.25 billion at 8.25 per annum

The long tenors of the Eurobonds and the spread across different maturities are well aligned with Nigeria’s Debt Management Strategy, 2020 –2023, the DMO said.

It stressed that since the Eurobonds were issued as part of the New External Borrowing in the 2021 Appropriation Act, the raising of $4 billion through Eurobonds provides a significant amount of funds to finance projects in the Act, thus contributing to the implementation of the 2021 Appropriation Act.

The DMO had stated that in addition to providing funding to part-finance the deficit in the 2021 Appropriation Act, the issuance of the Eurobonds would benefits the country in many other strategic ways.

According to the DMO, it would also bring about an inflow of foreign exchange, leading to an increase in external reserves to help support the naira exchange rate as well as Nigeria’s sovereign rating.

It further explained that when Nigeria raised funds externally through Eurobonds, it freed up space in the domestic market for private sector and sub-national borrowers.

The debt management body stated: “In effect, it helps the sovereign not to crowd out other borrowers in the domestic market. The issuance of Eurobonds by Nigeria has opened up opportunities for Nigeria’s corporate sector, notably banks, to issue Eurobonds to raise capital in the ICM.”

‘I was forced to marry at 16’ – Woman tells court

A 23-year-old woman, Firdausi Sulaiman on Monday dragged her husband, Haruna Haruna, before a Sharia Court sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, seeking divorce on grounds that he beats her and says she eats too much.

In her petition, Suleiman, who lives in Rigasa in Kaduna, also told the court that her husband, Haruna, locks up the kitchen in the night.

”In our seven years of marriage, I have not spent a complete year without him sending me back to my parent’s house.

“I was forced into marrying Haruna when I was 16 by my father.

”He banned me from receiving visitors in our marital house. He also beats me.

”When I got fed up, my parents got to know about what I have going through and reported the matter to his mother, His mother told me that he was possessed by an evil spirit,” she said.

She prayed the court to terminate the marriage and give her custody of their one daughter.

In his defense, Haruna, a civil engineer through his counsel, M. K Mustapha, said his client is mentally okay and is not possessed.

”My client doesn’t look like someone who has evil spirits or has mental problems. In fact, he is currently in Katsina State executing some projects”, he said.

The Judge, Nuhu Falalu, after listening to both parties, adjourned the case until Oct. 4.

He ordered Haruna’s counsel to invite the couple’s parents or guardians to explore an amicable solution.

Sudan Govt. foils coup attempt, suspects arrested

A coup attempt has been thwarted in Sudan and the situation is under control, the country’s military said on Tuesday, September 21 in a statement read on state TV.

According to the Sudanese Military spokesman, Mohamed al-Faki Suleiman, interrogation of suspects involved in the attempted coup will begin immediately and the military would issue a statement shortly.

“An authorised source in the presidency of the council of ministers said that security and military authorities have thwarted a coup attempt at dawn today,” the Sudan News Agency said via Twitter.

Coup attempt foiled in Sudan, suspects arrested

“The situation is under control, and those involved in it [the coup attempt] have been arrested and investigations are underway,” added the statement.

Sudan’s democratic rule has been on a fragile state since the military’s ouster of the country’s longtime ruler Omar al-Bashir in April 2019, following four months of mass protests.

The country is now ruled by a joint civilian and military government that faces huge economic and security challenges.

According to Al Jazeera, information about the coup attempt was made available to the government on Monday evening, which helped thwart it quickly.

Sudanese authorities reported that the military remains in control, while Sudan’s state-run television called on the public “to counter” the attempt but did not provide further details.

“All is under control. The revolution is victorious,” Suleiman, a member of the ruling military-civilian council, wrote on Facebook. He also called on the Sudanese people to protect the transition.

Another military official reportedly said an unspecified number of troops from the armoured corps were behind the attempt and that they tried to take over several government institutions but were stopped in their tracks.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to brief the media, said many troops, including high-ranking officers, have been arrested.

Paul Rusesabagin, ‘Hotel Rwanda’ film hero, found guilty on terror charges

Paul Rusesabagina, the ‘Hotel Rwanda’ hero who became a fierce government critic, has been found guilty on terror charges .

The 67-year-old was convicted of backing a rebel group blamed for deadly gun, grenade and arson attacks in Rwanda in 2018 and 2019.

‘He founded a terrorist organisation that attacked Rwanda, he financially contributed to terrorist activities,’ Justice Beatrice Mukamurenzi said at the end of a seven-month trial on Monday, September 20.

Rwandan prosecutors have sought a life sentence for Rusesabagina, the former hotelier credited with saving hundreds of lives during the 1994 genocide, and whose actions inspired the Hollywood film.

Rusesabagina and his lawyers were absent in court for the verdict, although the 20 other defendants in the case attended.

6148905f3976e

Rusesabagina, who used his fame to denounce Rwandan leader Paul Kagame as a dictator, was arrested in August 2020 when a plane he believed was bound for Burundi landed instead in the Rwandan capital Kigali.

His family say Rusesabagina was kidnapped and had rejected the nine charges against him as payback by a vengeful government for his outspoken views.

Earlier this month, Kagame had dismissed criticism of the case, saying Rusesabagina was in the dock not because of his fame but over the lives lost ‘because of his actions’.

The trial began in February but the Belgian citizen and US green card holder boycotted it starting in March, accusing the court of ‘unfairness and a lack of independence’.

Rusesabagina was the former manager of the Hotel des Mille Collines in Kigali, where he sheltered hundreds of guests during the genocide that left 800,000 people dead, mostly ethnic Tutsis.

Kagame’s government accused Rusesabagina of supporting the National Liberation Front (FLN), a rebel group blamed for the attacks in 2018 and 2019 that killed nine people.

Rusesabagina denied any involvement in the attacks, but was a founder of the Rwandan Movement for Democratic Change (MRCD), an opposition group of which the FLN is seen as the armed wing.

‘MRCD-FLN commited terror acts. MRCD cannot be separated from military acts’ of FLN, said the judge, Mukamurenzi.

Prosecutors in June said Rusesabagina ‘encouraged and empowered the fighters to commit those terrorist acts’.

But his co-defendants gave conflicting testimony about the level of Rusesabagina’s involvement with the FLN and its fighters.

Ole Gunnaer Solskjaer joked that he had lost his job @ Manchester United

Manchester United head coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is remaining humble when talking about Manchester United’s title chances after their dramatic late win at West Ham.

He joked that he had “lost his job yesterday” after their midweek disappointing 2-1 defeat to Young Boys in the Champions League.

His team went into Sunday’s match, September 19 at London Stadium under pressure but bounced back with a drama-filled 2-1 victory to stay level on points with Chelsea and Liverpool at the top of Premier League.

United’s fine start to the season buoyed by Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival has raised hopes among the fans of a Premier League title challenge but Solskjaer, is remaining level-headed reminding reporters that some people were calling for his sack a few days ago.

“You’re not gonna get me on that one now,” he replied when asked about his side’s title prospect”.

“It’s five games into the season. I was probably down and out and lost my job yesterday. That’s the way it is at Man United.

“We deserved three points. It’s a hard place to come, here. Hopefully these points can make a difference. Let’s see [about the title] when we get towards April and May.”

Reflecting on the game itself, Solskjaer said there was room for improvement.

“We have to defend better,” Solskjaer added. “We have to make it harder to break us down. For their goal the structure was wrong for whatever reason and we’ll have to work on it.”

Speaking about Lingard who scored a goal for his side, Solksjaer said;

“Jesse was quite clear he wants to fight for his place and be part of a Man United team that is going places,” Solskjaer added.

“I can’t speak for Jesse now but he’s really contributing. He’ll play on Wednesday as I’ll make a few changes.”

Hushpuppi can continue using his account – Instagram says

Social media giant, Instagram has said that alleged Nigerian fraudster Hushpuppi can continue using his account.

Recall that Hushpuppi who lived a life of luxury in Dubai, always flaunted his expensive lifestyle on his Instagram account. He notably shared photos of extravagant shopping trips, luxury cars, clothes, and watches on the platform.

Instagram which responded to an inquiry by Dubai-based The National, said the Nigerian fraudster is free to continue using his social media account as he did not violate the social media platform’s laws.

The social media giant said it has well-established processes with law enforcement and a policy on “inmate takedown requests” in place for prisoners active on social media.

The company’s global team said he would be free to continue to use the site unless directed otherwise from law enforcement in the US, where he is awaiting sentencing. Instagram said accounts are only usually closed if they represent dangerous organisations or individuals.

While Hushpuppi is yet to post on Instagram to his 2.5 million followers since June 2020, he has pleaded guilty to his crimes as revealed in court documents from April 2021. The 37-year-old Nigerian had pleaded guilty to online fraud of more $24 million.

The BUSINESS called Nigeria

Sà á bí olóògùn-ún ti wí.” Meaning, ‘invoke it exactly as the maker of the charm instructed’.
To understand Nigeria, you need to appreciate where it came from. In 1900, Britain officially assumed responsibility for the Administration of the whole of what we now know as Nigeria from the Niger Company. And then, gradually over the years, British protectorates were established throughout the territory.

In 1914, the protectorates were amalgamated into one Nigeria. Actually, there’s one additional detail that bears mentioning. In order to take over the territories from the Niger Company, the British Government paid 865, 000 pounds. A huge amount in 1900. So let’s establish a simple truth. The British didn’t travel halfway across the world just to spread democracy. Nigeria started off as a business deal.

For them, between a company and a government. Incidentally, the Niger Company is still around today, only it is known by a different name, Unilever.

But that’s another story.

Ay!
They wanna tell you o, tell you o, tell you o
Another story o, story o, story o
Since 1960 them dey play us, why o
Shey, we go dey cry forevermore o
E dey pain me, ga-ga o (Ahh)
Burna Boy’s Another Story (African Giant)

What is balanced in a nation that is sorely divided across religious lines, yet richly blessed but abused by her leaders such that followership is blinded by the divide and rule tactics bequeathed to us by our colonial masters? I ask 80% of my readers today, how has a Muslim presidency or a Christian presidency, benefited us, Nigeria is worse off, Boko Haram is wreaking havoc, kidnappers, who are graduates, are doing theirs in the south, bandits are doing theirs. Nigeria is a business, one big business!

We have become so blinded by the fact that when we fill forms one must either be Christian/Muslim and some nasty variables, it has become ingrained, so even an armed robber that is filling a form must necessarily identify with one faith and ethnicity, these indices are as useless as they come. With all those Christians in the parastatals are they any better as agencies, or should I throw up more controversies, like is a Christian leader better than a Muslim leaders, who steals more, are we not the same Nigerians that voted Abiola enmass despite his faith? Well, some answers to my postulations are like trade secrets, na so business dey be

What is the problem with Nigeria, who is the problem, today I dare say that the problem with Nigeria, is Nigerians, part of our problem, is simply put, ‘us’, ‘we’, ‘you’, ‘them’, ‘they’. The problem with Nigeria actually is you and me! A business gone wrong, trust issues, no profit, or profit reserved only for a few.

Nigeria ideally is one of the best places to live in, it is not a Police State like so-called Western Democracies. In Nigeria I can urinate anywhere and not get fined or arrested, I can get a ladder and climb the electricity poles and effect a change of power phases, that is if the problem is not from the nearby power transformer which anybody can repair with dry wood. What a business?

Many people for good reasons had seen in Mr Buhari some form of change. A lot of us had lost hope in the system, the structure, the leadership, but with each passing day, it is becoming obvious that Nigeria may be just an empty plastic cup, to light to hold a cup of coffee cold or hot, because the terms of business terms were not well outlined, partnership not properly negotiated.

We are running a business that is devoid of purposeful leadership, the business called Nigeria does not have leadership and nor a people that have collectively gone about bringing economic prosperity, industrial-strength, intellectual pride and dynamism. Our business is a circus of both leadership and citizenry.

What kind of business can thrive without fast-paced infrastructural development, rapid push in human resource development, healthcare delivery, with approximately over 50,000 graduates expected out yearly, and only 3% possessing a chance of a job, with time the remaining 97% slowly becoming an unemployable lot with redundant qualifications and no form of entrepreneurial education.

The business called Nigeria, lacks education, health and development with all the wealth, we are breeding terrorists, frustrated young men, sad mothers, senior citizens that daily curse the business because we have refused to give them their dividends, children without hope for the future in light of public school utilities and abductions.

This is the business called Nigeria, the rich, poor, and everybody cries and laughs almost at the same time; the difference is the swing of the pendulum. The Nigerian big man makes a law, those wanting to be Nigerian or already big men proceed immediately to look for a way to break the law; he explores loopholes and escape clauses, like the Immunity clause used for stealing.

Ordinary Citizens would do it their own way, they would jump queues for no excuse, they would do u-turns on an expressway, stop in the middle of the road to say hello to a long lost friend without parking.

The pain of this essay, despite all there are those in this business, Nigerians in their millions that want to be good for the right reasons. Those Nigerians, not easily understood because they will not give bribes, all their actions are in line with tradition, society’s good norms and rationality. They largely are old now, although a few young ones too, and most times reside in rural areas, though a few too, stay in urban areas.

They are generally good and untribalized, they believe in the principles of live and let live. These Nigerians are neither the bottom power women nor the moneybag men like you and me. They strive daily to remain patriotic and committed to the Nigerian business despite the reality, they are disciplined and are hardworking, and they battle the stark reality that as patient dogs they may never have any bone left.

These sets of Nigerians suffer from the Nigerian experiment because of the larger majority’s inability to curb greed, inability for me and you to be fair and rational towards other people’s perspectives, opinions, positions and interests.

My continuous inability to make sacrifices for the common good, and your unwillingness to respect our institutions means that if others do not stand as a people and resolve to fight for what rightly belongs to Nigeria, the problem with Nigeria will continue.

The mutual distrust is a stench, we are all living a pretence, census figures is a faith/ethnic issue, once a list is out we are looking at who is Muslim/Christian and from Kano or Imo. We are in trouble, BIG trouble, as there’s no way out of this entire business of phobic Christianization/Islamization.

Speed trains all over the world, the locomotive is it in Nigeria until we realize, what really our problems are, the churches and mosques would increase and so will our woes, are we really ready to move beyond our mediocrity of fasting/praying on issues mentality, and know that, the husband of a mother is a father if the charm is not administered as instructed if the terms of the business are not discussed, negotiated and adhered to, from one story to another and—Only time will tell

APC, the ruling party, gives conditions before it can fully accept Femi Fani-Kayode

Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC)  has listed conditions former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, must meet to be fully accepted and integrated into the party.

According to the Director-General of the APC Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Dr Salihu Moh Lukman, FFK will need to register from his ward, identify with the party chieftains in his state and more importantly demonstrate tolerance and respect for opinions of leaders and members of the party if he is to be fully accepted in the party.

The PGF DG, in a statement he issued in Abuja on Sunday, September 19, also  revealed that party members are angry with the red-carpet reception President Muhammadu Buhari gave to FFK when he decamped from the PDP to APC.

The statement titled: ‘APC’s high-profile membership recruitment and issues for 2023’, read: “A major challenge of high-profile political party membership recruitment, like that of Fani-Kayode, is the issue of getting those recruited to be accountable. How can the party ensure that newly recruited high-profile members moderate themselves such that it is the party that control them and not the other way round?

“While it is easy to control people that are already constraint by legal provisions on account of statutory responsibilities such as governors and legislators, individuals like Fani-Kayode, who are only responsible to themselves, would be difficult to manage. It is therefore important that APC members prepare to engage Fani-Kayode to ensure that he is accountable to our leaders, our party organs and by extension, Nigerians.

“A reformed Fani-Kayode should be an accountable personality, both to the party and to Nigerians. On no account should Fani-Kayode ever imagine that he has come to APC to conduct himself uncontrollably. He must be accountable to our leadership and all our party structures.

“He must respect himself and abide by the provisions of the party constitution and its manifesto. To support him, copies of the APC constitution and manifesto must be made available to him immediately.

“There are also issues related to getting him to work with other party members especially in relation to addressing national challenges. The problem of managing Nigeria’s diversity, for instance, require respect and tolerance. That Fani-Kayode has joined APC and has made statements to the effect that he is committed to a united Nigeria must be demonstrated based on respect for all Nigerians irrespective of differences.

“A major test will be the extent to which Fani-Kayode is able to demonstrate tolerance and respect for opinions of leaders and members of the party. This doesn’t mean he shouldn’t disagree. But he must express his disagreement with utmost respect. On no account must he promote divisive campaigns, in whatever forms or manner. Doing so will suggest that he is still the old venomous Fani-Kayode.

“Once that become the case, party members must be ready to engage him including campaigns to discipline him as provided in the constitution of the APC. Therefore, his membership of the party must take root in his Ward in Osun State, and he must subordinate himself to his Ward leadership,” he noted in the statement.

Giving other conditions, he wrote: “For Fani-Kayode to talk of the unity of Nigeria at this time, shortly after he supported and promoted secessionist campaigns of Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho is a remarkable departure. However, recognising such a departure shouldn’t be interpreted to mean that we should blindly trust Fani-Kayode.

“What is required in the circumstance is that our leaders must test the commitment of Fani-Kayode to reform himself. The first test is that Fani-Kayode should be reminded that politics is local. Coming from Osun State, his commitment to reform himself should start with getting him to integrate himself with APC leaders back in Osun State.

“At this early stage of his membership of APC, beyond the photo show with our dear President Buhari and the Chairman of the APC Caretaker Committee, Fani-Kayode should have a photo gallery with images of him uniting with Chief Bisi Akande, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Governor Gboyega Oyetola and other party leaders in his home state, Osun. In fact, part of this test would have been met had Governor Oyetola and Ogbeni Aregbesola, at the minimum, been part of the welcome reception at the Presidential Villa last Thursday. Had that happened, the raging controversy following the admission of Fani-Kayode into the party would have been minimised.

“The photo gallery should also cover images with leaders from the South-West. Fani-Kayode should take every step to reciprocate the gesture of our leaders by demonstrating that he is ready to reform himself. Some of the controversy he has already created makes it doubtful whether he want to reform himself at all. For instance, when he claimed that he facilitated the defection of some Governors that joined the APC from PDP, suggests that he is still his old venomous self.

“Only people with very small minds could make such statement and only gullible people can believe them. The claim that three additional Governors – Bauchi, Oyo and Enugu – are on their way to join the APC, also falls in the same category of small mind talking to gullible people. If Fani-Kayode truly want the party to succeed in recruiting anybody, including governors, he should quietly support the leadership. We have a very competent leadership that can handle that responsibility, which is why his admission into the party succeeded in the first place,” he wrote.

Israel might have used a remote-controlled gun to assassinate Iran’s nuclear scientist – New report claims

A new report has claimed that Israel’s top spy agency Mossad assassinated top Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh on November 27th, 2020 using a remotely-controlled, Artificial Intelligence-assisted machine gun.

According to the new report by The New York Times, Israel reportedly mounted the gun on a pickup truck by the side of the road and, when Fakhrizadeh’s car approached had a distant operator fire the gun using a satellite link.

The attack was precise, but didn’t kill Fakhrizadeh’s wife, and may not have used facial recognition to assist with aiming as unnamed Iranian officials said.

While Israel purportedly used the Artificial intelligence to compensate for the satellite system’s lag and gun recoil, Israel Mossad operatives identified Fakhrizadeh by staging a decoy car with a camera to force a U-turn and get a clear image.

Israel reportedly used a remote-controlled gun to assassinate?Iran

Neither Israel nor Iran has publicly confirmed the use of a robotic gun, although The Times’ story is based in part on the Fakhrizadeh family’s statements to reporters.

After the assassination, the Israeli operatives exploded the truck in a bid to destroy the evidence, but the equipment remained intact (if inoperable). That was how Iranian investigators determined the nature of the attack .

The remote gun was supposedly difficult to set up as Israel reportedly smuggled parts in very gradually.

Israel kelt agents out of harm’s way and avoided raising alarms like a drone. If the gun had been destroyed as planned, Iran might have been unable to determine the assassination method.

With this report, espionage might take a new turn as secret agents can now use robotics to take out targets with little risk to themselves, little warning to enemies and a greater chance of deniability.

Unvaccinated Players will be Banned from Next Year’s World Cup – Qatar

2022 World Cup host nation, Qatar is demanding that all fans and footballers attending the footballing ceremony are completely vaccinated.

The Gulf nation has already revealed that anyone attending the tournament next November will have to be doubled jabbed and has taken up the same position with players, according to a report by The Athletic.

Qatar, who have already administered more than 4.6 million vaccines so far, roughly 82 per cent of their population, are in discussions with FIFA and medical authorities in efforts to reach an amicable solution with footballers union who still have footballers who have refused to be vaccinated.

The Athletic claim a number of options are being considered, including unvaccinated players having to report negative tests every three days.

The report adds that Qatar aims to provide one million doses to spectators ahead of the tournament.

Just last month August,Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted ‘not all of the players have been double-jabbed’, adding ‘I have encouraged them to take the vaccination but you cannot force anyone to do that.’

Meanwhile, Qatar have also had to have painstaking talks about the logistics around Covid ahead of the Arab Cup, which starts on November 30 and will be used as test event for next year’s World Cup.

For that tournament, fans will need to be fully vaccinated to attend but players will not be required to follow suit.

2 British Police Officers ‘knacking’ hard while on duty

Two police officers identified as Sgt Molly Edwards and PC Richard Paton have been exposed for ignoring call-outs to a hospital and a burglary, to have sex in their police car while on duty.

The Sun reported that the affair between the officers who are both married with kids, was exposed after suspicious bosses bugged the vehicle.

A disciplinary panel was told that 39-year-old Paton was heard moaning “aww, let’s just get naked”, after an urgent 4.51am radio request for assistance at an electrical store burglary.

It was also learnt that they ignored a 4:17am call to take two victims of a serious assault outside a nightclub to a hospital, even though they were parked up 15 minutes away having sex.

The Independent disciplinary board chairman, John Bassett said in an adjudication report;

“It is evident from the transcripts of what occurred after the call that sexual activity continued.”

The panel heard secret recordings in the patrol car captured “verbal expressions of sexual fantasies” by the two officers, who were based in the Surrey Heath area. The report said their sexual activity “clearly involved the removal of some of their clothing, kissing,” as well as the exposure of her breasts and him pleasuring her.

The officers who have denied having full intercourse resigned from Surrey Police before last month’s tribunal, but it still went ahead in their absence. They were found guilty of four allegations of gross misconduct which were proven, and the panel said they would have been sacked if still in the job.

The first count alleges that they “engaged in sexual activity whilst on duty in a police vehicle in a public space” between June and September 2019.

Reacting to the allegation, Molly Edwards insisted sexual activity only took place over two days while the car was bugged.

Commenting on the affair in her resignation letter, Molly said;

“It wasn’t always sexual in that sometimes it could be just holding hands.

“I enjoyed the time we had together, but became aware what we were doing was wrong and would say to him we should put a stop to it.”

The panel concluded there was not enough evidence to prove the affair had been going on for three months, as alleged, but ruled it started at least three weeks beforehand.

The second charge referred to them failing to attend calls-outs at Frimley Park Hospital and Currys in Woking.

While Edwards claimed they could not attend the hospital as they had dealt with the nightclub assaults earlier with a risk of evidence being contaminated, the panel ruled they did not want sex to be interrupted.

The panel held that it is “a serious dereliction of duty” that “would be considered as outrageous” by the public.

Edwards and Paton were thirdly accused of misleading their boss over rumours of the affair and PC Paton was heard making a racist comment about an Asian colleague. Both officers were accused of breaching Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of discreditable conduct, honesty and integrity.

The panel also noted that Edwards had been an excellent officer and was awarded a Divisional Commendation in 2015 for her “valiant actions” in tackling a violent drunk stealing food from a Guildford restaurant.

US: 2 fake doctors charged with murder after performing an illegal butt lift operation on pornstar

A mother and daughter have been charged with murder in connection to a woman who died after receiving an illegal butt lift operation in Los Angeles, California, police have revealed.

The victim, Karissa Rajpaul, 26, shared a video of herself on social media during the operation, which took place at a private home in the Encino neighborhood in Los Angeles in September 2020, the Los Angeles Police Department told NBC4.

Rajpaul, who moved to LA from South Africa to try and work in the porn industry, received three separate procedures and passed away immediately after the third procedure.

Police have arrested and charged Libby Adame and her daughter, Alicia Gomez, with murder.

“These individuals have no medical training,” Alan Hamilton, LAPD deputy chief, told ABC7.

“They’re not experienced and they’re putting people’s lives at risk.”

Now the police department says it is worried there could be more victims and is encouraging women to come forward.

“As we looked into this investigation, we did find that it is occurring a lot,” Bob Dinlocker, an LAPD detective, told NBC4.

“The internet is filled with these horror stories where they’re cutting the medical grade silicone with the stuff that you would caulk your windows with.”

He said once some of these chemicals – that are not intended for use in humans – hit the bloodstream they attack the heart, the brain, and the kidneys.

LAPD is warning women to avoid these underground procedures, which some people seek out because they are less expensive than having the procedure done by a professional.

Police said Adame and Gomez were charging $3,500 to $4,500 for the butt lift, compared to $10,000 to $15,000 that a board-certified professional would charge, NBC4 reported.

In recent years, Brazilian butt lifts have become increasingly popular and it is the most risky cosmetic surgery procedure.

According to a survey by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, buttock lifts increased by 77.6% from 2015 to 2019.

A travel agent scams Cristiano Ronaldo about £250K

A travel agent has been accused of cheating Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo out of nearly £250,000.

The 53-year-old, named in Portugal as Maria Silva, also scammed the football star’s super-agent Jorge Mendes out of more than £14,000 and former Man Utd winger Nani out of more than £1,500.

Her wrongdoing culminated in her getting a four-year suspended prison sentence at a court in Porto, Portuguese daily Jornal de Noticias reported on Sunday.

The newspaper revealed dad-of-four Cristiano, 36, was spared having to attend her trial after she made a full confession.

The four-times Ballon D’or winner gave a statement to police after flying to Porto by private jet and meeting up with his lawyer Carlos Osorio de Castro.

Jornal de Noticias exposed  the scandal about greedy Silva’s breach of the trust Cristiano placed in her by giving her his credit card details and pin codes.

The newspaper said the €288,000 she scammed him out of – £245,770 – corresponded to around 200 trips he never made between Portugal and other European countries as well as Europe and Africa and the US.

She reportedly carried out the fraud by getting clients to transfer cash for travel she arranged for them to her personal account instead of the business account of the travel agency she worked for.

She then billed those trips to the accounts of victims like Cristiano Ronaldo, who had given her a ‘virtual’ credit card and pin code, to “fill the hole” in her company’s accounts, the report in Jornal de Noticias said.

The newspaper reported she used the same tactic to rip off the likes of Jorge Mendes, his sports agency Gestifute, Nani and former Portsmouth and Everton footballer Manuel Fernandes.

The fraud cost Fernandes £2,440 and Gestifute £36,000. Silva’s firm Geostar is said to have repaid the fraud victims the money wrongly taken from them and she agreed to pay back monthly compensation to her old employers to avoid going to prison.

Cristiano was targeted between in a three-year period between February 2007 and July 2010 when he was playing for Manchester United first-time round and then Real Madrid following his record £80 million transfer to Spain.

The Portuguese footballer gave the Policia Judiciaria in Porto a statement on June 7 2011 according to Jornal de Noticias.

He is said to have entered the police station via a back door so his presence would go unnoticed.

Maria Silva is understood to have been quizzed by police in October 2013, declining to answer questions put to her by cops but making a full confession in court where she was found guilty of fraud and forgery. It was not made clear how her crimes were uncovered.

The 53-year-old from the northern Portuguese city of Vila Nova de Gaia was convicted of on January 10 2017 by a criminal court in Porto, Jornal de Noticias revealed.

Revealing Cristiano’s former Portugal teammate Simao Sabrosa was among clients who unwittingly transferred cash to her private account instead of a company account as part of her fraud, the paper added: “Afterwards the travel agent had to plug the hole in the firm’s accounts.

“She therefore began to bill those trips to Cristiano Ronaldo, who had an account at Geostar and for practical reasons, handed the agent a virtual credit card and pin code.

Sunday Igboho: We will appeal N20bn damages against DSS – Malami

Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami has said that the federal government will be appealing the judgment of an Oyo State High Court which awarded N20 billion in damages to Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo also known as Sunday Igboho following the invasion of his home by the DSS at about 1:30am on July 1, 2021.

Igboho was awarded the money after his lawyer, Mr Yomi Alliyu (SAN)  had filed a N500 billion fundamental human rights enforcement suit against the AGF, DSS and Director of the DSS in Oyo State over the incident.

Ruling on the case, Justice Ladiran Akintola said the DSS exhibited an unprofessional conduct during the invasion and also violated Igboho’s human rights.

Reacting to the ruling, Malami said efforts are already being made to commence the process of appealing the judgment.

No existence of ‘unreleased sex tape’ with ex-boyfriend Ray J – Kim Kardashian denies

Kim Kardashian has denied the existence of an ‘unreleased sex tape’ with former boyfriend, Ray J.

Her denial comes after Wack 100, the former manager of Ray J claimed there is an unreleased sex tape that is more graphic.

During a recent appearance on the Bootleg Kev podcast, Wack (pictured  below) claimed to have  ‘part two on a laptop’ that was ‘more graphic and better than the first one.’

Kim Kardashian denies existence of

Wack also said he would only give the never-before-seen video to her estranged husband Kanye West.

‘It’s the mother of his children,’ he explained.

Kim has now come out to refute the possibility of an unreleased sextape.

‘The claim that there is an unreleased sex tape is unequivocally false,’ Kim’s attorney Marty Singer told TMZ.

‘It is unfortunate that people make these statements to try and get their 15 minutes of fame.’

Kim filmed a sex tape in 2002 with her then-boyfriend Ray J, which was released into the public domain in 2007, just as Kim and her family were getting ready to launch the first series of their E! reality show.

Kim infamously spoke about the sextape during an early episode of the series when her sister Kourtney Kardashian asked her why she agreed to film the video, and she said: ‘Because I was horny and I felt like it.’

At least eight people have been killed after a gunman attacked a Russian University on Monday morning, September 20.

Shots were heard at Perm State University in Russia’s Ural mountains, where eight were killed and more than ten were wounded.

The attacker, dressed in black was seen walking into the building holding a clearly visible firearm, with reports later saying the shooter had been killed by police.

‘When the people saw the shooter and heard the shots, some managed to leave the building, others locked themselves in classrooms,’ said one eyewitness account.

Many students were seen jumping after climbing out of a second floor window.

The university flashed a message to frightened staff and students saying: ‘If you are currently inside the university, please, try to shut yourself from inside the room, and stay inside.

‘If you are on the campus, please leave if possible. If you are on the way to the university – TURN BACK’

The gunman, named in some reports as Timur Bekmansurov, 18, a student – was later reported to have been overpowered.

In messages sent by the suspect before the siege, he was quoted saying he ‘liked causing pain to people’.

He described himself as ‘unstoppable’.

‘I could have fooled every psychiatrist,’ he said of a test to get his gun license. ‘At least I will feel alive for the last ten minutes of my life,’ he wrote.

‘I detest myself as much as I test all of you.’

He said: ‘I want to leave as much pain in the world as I can so everyone I can’t kill will remember this day forever….

‘I will do all in my power to kill as many as I can.

‘Only a few of you deserve to live.’

Later reports said the shooter had died from police gunshot wounds.

Speaking on the tragedy earlier this month, Mr Ikwunze, an artisan, disclosed that his children were regular guests of the Ogbas in Umueze were they usually spent their holiday season.

He said the late Ogba, who hails from Apañu Item, Bende LGA, has been a close family friend for the past 20 years as both families had lived together at number 17 Ozuitem street extension before the Ogba’s relocated to their own house in Umueze.

According to Mr Ikwunze, the late Ogba, had on Tuesday 24th August, brought home the fruit Juice and the suya which later led to the deaths of three Members of the Ogba family and four members of the Ikwunze’s the following day.

“It was on Thursday last two weeks that my friend called Mr Sunday Ogba (Late) requested me to bring my children at his residence in Umueze for a holiday just as my children normally do after school period which I did on Friday last two weeks,” he narrated.

“The late Sunday and I have known ourselves for the past 20 years having lived together at number 17 Ozuitem street extension before he built his own house at Umueze. He hails from Apañu Item in Bende LGA.

“I and my wife were coming back from my workshop in Umuahia town, when we saw Mr Sunday Ogba buying suya at Uwalaka by Okigwe road in Umuahia but before we could get to him, he drove off with his car.

“It was the following day, 25th being Wednesday, which I would prefer to call Black Wednesday that I received a call that the man, Sunday Ogba is dead, I couldn’t believe. I called my wife who was preparing to go for August meeting, she equally expressed disbelief and suggested that we immediately go to their residence in Umueze and find out things for ourselves.

“I summoned courage and called back the person who informed me of the sad news to get more details and was told that my four children were also dead. On hearing that, we rushed to Umueze where we met a mammoth crowd including the Nigerian Police and it was there I confirmed that my four children were no more

“Information that I got from one of the surviving relation of the late Sunday Ogba, who happens to be his daughter, said her father brought the Suya and three packets of Juice out of which one was given to my kids to share, the other was given to the man’s children to share while the late Sunday consumed the remaining one with his wife

“She said that after consuming the Suya and Fruit Juice, my children requested for boiled yam which was cooked and equally consumed with red oil by the entire household

“I was told that my second child starting crying, complaining of dizziness and later started vomiting of which the wife of the deceased Sunday cleaned up her vomit. After that, other members of the family started reacting the same way and had to drink palm oil. Mrs Ogba Sunday from what i heard slumped at the passage on her way to take her bath and the following morning it was discovered that members of their family including my children were all dead.”

Endometriosis is an often painful condition in which “tissue similar to the tissue that normally lines the inside of the uterus – the endometrium – grows outside the uterus,” according to the Mayo Clinic.

This is not the first time that the comedian has opened up about her endometriosis diagnosis, as Schumer, who welcomed her first child with Fischer in May 2019, during which she suffered with the pregnancy condition hyperemesis gravidarum, revealed that she had “really bad endometriosis and adenomyosis” during an appearance on the What To Expect podcast in August 2020.

Accumulating debt for next generation is criminal – Obasanjo says

Former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has reacted to the incessant borrowing by the Federal government.

Recall that only days ago, President Buhari requested the approval of the National Assembly to borrow $4,054,476,863 and €710 million.

Obasanjo, while speaking to Channels Television in South Africa, said it is criminal to accumulate debt for the next generation to pay.

He said that if the existing debt remains unserviced or unpaid by the current administration, it might become a huge problem for successive governments.

Obasanjo added that borrowing is not a problem, however, he said it would be better if the borrowed funds were used for development and there is a plan or capacity to pay back.

He said: If you want to build a commercial house and you go and borrow money, and you have 50 per cent of your own money and you borrow 50 per cent and in five years, you pay the 50 per cent that you borrowed. That is a wise thing to do. But if you have to go and borrow money for you to be able to feed yourself and your family, that is a stupid thing to do.

“So, if we are borrowing for recurrent expenditure, it is the height of foolery. If we are borrowing for development that can pay itself, that is understandable; then how long will it pay itself? But we are borrowing and accumulating debt for the next generation and the next generation after them, it is criminal, to put it mildly. What are we borrowing for?

“When I came into government and was elected President, we were spending $3.5bn to service debt, and even with that, our quantum of debt was not going down.”

Afghan relatives killed by US drone strike say they want monetary compensation and resettlement in US

The surviving family members of Mr Ahmadi, who was killed by a US drone strike in August after US military intelligence mistakenly took him for an ISIS-K terrorist, say they want the Americans responsible for the tragic mistake  to be taken to court, while also asking for financial compensation and resettlement in the United States or another safe country for the rest of their lives.

Zemari Ahmadi, 43, was killed along with seven children and two adult family members. Before his death Ahmadi was an innocent aid worker that worked for a US company that.
provided protein nutrition to starving Aghan kids.

On Friday night, September 17, U.S. officials acknowledged he did not appear to be connected to ISIS-K terrorists. His fatal mistake, it appeared, was driving a white 1996 Toyota Corolla similar to one intelligence sources claimed was being driven by a known terrorist.

Speaking to the Washington Post, Ahmadi’s 24-year-old stepson Samim Ahmadi said that ‘the situation in Afghanistan is not good’.

He added: ‘Whether in America or another country, we want peace and comfort for our remaining years.

‘Everyone makes mistakes. The Americans cannot bring back our loved ones, but they can take us out of here.’

Ahmadi’s brother Emal, 32, who was just feet away from the remains of the car after the blast, said: ‘We didn’t have any money to bury our relatives. We had to borrow funds.’

And while he said he is ‘happy’ the Pentagon has acknowledged the miscalculations that led to his brother’s death, ‘forgiveness’ is too strong a word.

Family members said before the August 29 drone strike, Ahmadi and his brother had applications processing for special visas to enter the U.S. because of their work with American companies.

Relatives of innocent Afghan family killed by US drone strike say they want monetary compensation and resettlement in US

The fatal blast heightened the surviving family’s urgency to leave, according to The Post and Ajmal Ahmadi, another brother, said his family is ‘worried’ and ‘feels under threat because we are so exposed to the public by the media’.

‘Everyone got to know that we have worked for foreigners, served in the Afghan army as well as the Afghan intelligence agency,’ he added.

The Ahmadis also said the commander who oversaw the strike, the drone operator or anyone else who had visuals on the ground – need to be taken to court.

Emal said: ‘The US government must punish those who launched the drone strike. They knew and saw there were children on the ground. Can anyone bring them back?’
