Furious #Putin, sacks 8 generals over slow pace of the #Ukraine Invasion

The Ukranian government has claimed that 8 Russian generals have been sacked over the slow and unsuccessful invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Armed Forces.

Oleksiy Danilov, head of Ukraine’s security council, says eight Russian commanders have been fired since the start of the conflict amid heavy losses on the battlefield.

Another report alleged that Putin is annoyed with leaders of the FSB security service for handing him intelligence suggesting that Ukraine was weak, riddled with neo-Nazi groups, and would give up easily if attacked.

Putin ?sacks eight generals? in anger at slow progress in Ukraine invasion

Philip Ingram, a former senior British intelligence officer, told The Times that Putin is obviously ‘very angry’ and is blaming his intelligence agencies.

‘He blames them for seeding him the advice that led to the poor decision-making in Ukraine,’ he said.

That poor advice made the military to attack Ukraine less than optimally leading to Russia suffering much higher casualties than it expected in its attack – a war which has exceeded two weeks.

Danilov said Putin thought capital city Kyiv would fall within two to three days  which made him send in light forces to seize key targets during the opening days.

‘It hasn’t happened and never will,’ he said.

Danilov said ‘desperate’ Moscow has ‘now switched to a different tactic’ by changing leadership.

‘They had about 8 generals removed from their posts because they did not complete the task,’ he told state TV.

Also in the report, another theory is that the organisation did gather good intelligence but was simply too afraid to tell Putin the truth, instead doctoring their reports to appease him.

‘The problem is that it is too risky for superiors to tell Putin what he doesn’t want to hear, so they tailor their information,’ he said.

They are now said to be making ‘apocalyptic’ forecasts about the weeks and months ahead as fighting grinds on and punitive sanctions isolate the country.

When asked how Russian politicians were reacting to the crisis, one source told Rustamova: ‘They’re carefully enunciating the word clusterf**k.

‘No one is rejoicing. Many understand that this is a mistake, but in the course of doing their duty they come up with explanations in order to somehow come to terms with it.’

Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began on February 24, over two million Ukrainian refugees have fled, as cities face shortages of food, water, heat, and medicine – with some having to resort to melting snow for water.

Breaking! Another Russian Commander, General Andrei Kolesnikov, of armoured unit killed in Ukraine

A third Russian general has allegedly been killed in Ukraine in just eight days in another devastating blow to Vladimir Putin’s savage invasion of Ukraine.

Major General Andrei Kolesnikov of the 29th Combined Arms Army became the latest high-profile casualty of the war today, Ukraine’s government announced.

Kolesnikov’s death comes four days after the killing of Major General Vitaly Gerasimov, 45, the first deputy commander of Russia’s 41st army.

The general took part in the second Chechen war, the Russian military operation in Syria, and the annexation of Crimea, winning medals from those campaigns.

According to reports, there are believed to be 20 Russian generals taking part in the faltering invasion, which has also seen the loss of 173 tanks, 12 aircraft, and 345 troop carriers.

Western officials said the multiple general casualties suggest they are having to move to the front because Russia’s troops are either unable to make their own decisions or are fearful of moving forward.

According to reports, Gerasimov was the son of Valery Gerasimov – the Chief of General Staff of Russia’s armed forces.

Last week, Major General Andrei Sukhovetsky, 47, deputy commander of the 41st Combined Arms Army of the Central Military District, was killed. Sukhovetsky died during a special operation in Ukraine, his comrade-in-arms Sergey Chipilev wrote on social media.

He was shot and killed by a sniper near Mariupol, which has been under a brutal siege by Russian forces for days.

Analysts have said Russian tank commanders allowed the Ukrainians to gun down their unit by driving down the middle of a main road leading into Kyiv – and straight into a death trap.

Rob Lee, a Senior Fellow and military expert at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, commented on the ambush, saying the Russian armoured force displayed ‘very poor tactics’.

Indian military accidentally fires missile into Pakistan (no loss of life recorded)

India said on Friday March 11, it accidentally fired a missile into Pakistan this week because of a “technical malfunction” during routine maintenance, giving its version of events after longtime foe Pakistan warned the incident could have “unpleasant consequences.”

“On 9 March 2022, in the course of a routine maintenance, a technical malfunction led to the accidental firing of a missile,” India’s defense ministry said in a statement.

“It is learnt that the missile landed in an area of Pakistan. While the incident is deeply regrettable, it is also a matter of relief that there has been no loss of life due to the accident.”

The ministry said the government had “taken a serious view and ordered a high-level Court of Enquiry” into the incident.

Earlier on Friday,  Pakistan’s foreign office said it had summoned India’s charge d’affaires in Islamabad to lodge a protest over what it called an unprovoked violation of its airspace.

Pakistan also called for an investigation into the incident, which it said could have endangered passenger flights and civilian lives.

Pakistan warned India “to be mindful of the unpleasant consequences of such negligence and take effective measures to avoid the recurrence off such violations in future”.

Pakistani military spokesman Major-General Babar Iftikhar said in a late evening news conference on Thursday that a “high-speed flying object” crashed near its eastern city of Mian Channu and that originated from the northern Indian city of Sirsa, in Haryana state near New Delhi.

“The flight path of this object endangered many national and international passenger flights both in Indian and Pakistani airspace as well as human life and property of ground,” he said.

Iftikhar in the news conference on Thursday also called on India to share the outcome of its investigation into the incident.

A Pakistan air force official said the object travelled at an altitude of 40,000 feet, at Mach 3, and flew 77 miles in Pakistani airspace before crashing.

Chigozie is alleged to have repeatedly cheated and subjected his wife to domestic abuse after she had their first child.

The MC is also accused of assaulting his pregnant wife after she demanded for the N2.7m she loaned him. She was rushed to the hospital but died alongside her baby on March 10.

It was also learnt that since December, Itunu has had fears of having complications during childbirth due to continuous physical abuse she had allegedly been subjected to by her husband.

Loser #Putin seeks foreign volunteers to help #Russia fight in #Ukraine

Russian strongman, Vladimir Putin has called for foreign volunteers to help fight against Ukrainian forces.

Speaking at a Russian security council meeting on Friday, March 11, he said those who wanted to volunteer to fight with Russia-backed forces should be allowed to.

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said there were 16,000 volunteers in the Middle East ready to fight alongside Russia-backed forces and US officials believe they could include Syrians skilled in urban combat

“If you see that there are these people who want of their own accord, not for money, to come to help the people living in Donbas, then we need to give them what they want and help them get to the conflict zone,” Putin told his defence minister.

Putin asks for foreign volunteers to help Russia fight in Ukraine

Shoigu also proposed handing over captured Western anti-tank missile systems to Russian-backed rebel fighters in the breakaway Ukrainian regions of Luhansk and Donetsk in the Donbas region.

“Please do this,”  Putin said.

Responding to Putin’s claims, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in a video message, said “thugs from Syria” would be coming to kill people “in a foreign land”.

Meanwhile Ukraine has had an influx of foreign fighters coming to join in the fight against Russia.

Zelensky said recently that 16,000 foreigners had volunteered for the cause, part of what he called an “international legion”.

Putin’s televised security council meeting came as Russian forces in Ukraine began attacking new targets in different areas of the country:

An airfield and jet engine factory were targeted in Lutsk, in the north-west
Explosions also hit airfields at Ivano-Frankivsk, in the south-west, according to Russian defence officials.

In Dnipro, a major stronghold in central eastern Ukraine, one person was reported dead in air strikes.

Refugees totaling 2.5 million have now left Ukraine since the war started according to the United Nations.

Dad kills his 7-day-old baby girl because he wanted his first-born to be a boy

A Pakistani father has been arrested on suspicion of shooting dead his seven-day-old baby girl because he wanted his first-born to be a boy.

The newborn baby named Jannat – meaning ‘heaven’ in Urdu – was shot five times on Monday at her home in the central city of Mianwali, police said.

The suspect, identified as Shahzaib Khan, allegedly entered his house and ordered his wife to hand over Jannat before shooting dead the week-old baby, reported Dawn newspaper.

Shahzaib, who has been married for two years, then fled the scene but was arrested on Thursday in a nearby district, police said.

In some parts of Pakistan, tribal customs mean that baby girls can be considered an insult to manhood, according to Mail Online.

The girl’s maternal uncle, Hidayatullah Khan, launched a formal complaint against the suspect for the killing.

‘A baby girl was born…he was infuriated,’ Hidayatullah said, referring to the father.

The devastated relative said Shahzaib had not returned to the family home after discovering his wife had given birth to a baby girl and refused to accept her.

Hidayatullah said the suspect entered the family home where relatives had gathered and ordered his wife to hand over Jannat to him.

‘The suspect took the girl into his hands and shot her dead,’ he told Dawn.

Hidayatullah claimed that he had tried to take the baby away from Shahzaib but the suspect had pointed the gun at him and the other relatives and threatened to shoot them if they moved closer.

The case sparked fury in Pakistan, with the public condemning the ‘brutal’ death of the newborn baby.

‘This is beyond barbaric,, brutal and vicious. The only solution to stop this brutality is hanging him publicly,’ Tehseen Qasim wrote on Twitter.

‘I’m disgusted to the core. I feel terribly for the mother. Look at the beautiful daughter she had. Women lead the world, it’s 2022,’ wrote Misbah Munir, another Twitter user.

Vladmir Putin trying to recruit Syrian Mercenaries to fight in Ukraine – Pay $200 Per Month

Russia has reportedly offered volunteers from Syria between $200 and $300 to fight in its ongoing military onslaught in Ukraine.

Recalls that Russia military operation invaded Ukraine on Thursday February 24.

According to Syrian-based Deir Ezzor, Russia had offered money to volunteers “to go to Ukraine and operate as guards” for six months at a time.

“Deir Ezzor 24 received exclusive information that Russia had instructed to open the door for volunteering for a period of six months, to go to Ukraine and operate as guards, with salaries ranging between 200 and 300 USD, in addition to recruiting mercenaries with wide privileges,” the report said.

The Wall Street Journal cited four United States officials as saying Russia was recruiting fighters from Syria with the hope that their expertise in urban combat can help take the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv.

The number of Syrians recruited is uncertain as at the time of filing this report, though one official said some were already in Russia preparing.

The Journal report adds that Syrian recruitment by Russia points to a possible escalation of the war.

This development came as Ukraine appealed to foreigners who wanted to fight in its defence, with President Volodmyr Zelensky announcing the creation of the International Legion for anyone wanting to fight Russia in Ukraine.

“Anyone who wants to join the defense of Ukraine, Europe and the world can come and fight side by side with the Ukrainians against the Russian war criminals,” the statement on the presidential website said.

Ukrainian officials had revealed that 3,000 Americans had applied to fight.

Breaking! #Vladimir #Putin moves to nationalise foreign companies moving out of #Russia

Western businesses leaving Russia due to the war may have their companies and production facilities confiscated by the Russian state, according to Moscow.

Businesses that leave the country are “basically abandoning their staff to their fate,” said former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev on Thursday.

To prevent people ending up unemployed and on the streets, the Russian government is taking steps to bring about the insolvency and subsequent nationalisation of these companies, the deputy chief of the Russian Security Council said.

On the foundation of the assets left behind by “investors in panic,” new industry would have to be built. This approach is objective and fair,” said Medvedev.

Among the affected are companies from Germany, other EU countries, and the U.S.

There is no law in Russia to nationalise a company’s assets.

But calls are growing among Russian politicians for such a law in reaction to the EU sanctions and it is expected that the Russian parliament will decide on such a process soon.

Many Western companies had only reported that operations are being paused at first, without mentioning full closure or withdrawal.

“Whatever the reasons for moving away, foreign firms should understand that it will not be easy to come back to our markets,” Medvedev said.

Kremlin spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, warned that a nationalisation of Western companies and seizure of their assets could have negative consequences for both sides, as Russsian companies abroad may also have their assets seized.

Proposals are also circulating for the assets of companies in Russia to be handled through fiduciary trusts.

Over 35,000 Boko Haram rebels have surrendered – Borno Government

Borno State government has announced that more than 35,000 Boko Haram insurgents and their families have surrendered.

Special adviser to the governor on security matters, Brigadier General AS Ishaq (rtd), confirmed this during a stakeholders’ dialogue on the reintegration of repentant Boko Haram hosted by the Peace Ambassadors Center for Humanitarian Aid and Empowerment (PACHE) in Maiduguri on Wednesday March 9.

Delivering a paper detailing how the over 35,000 Boko Haram members who surrendered are being managed, Ishaq said the non-kinetic approach adopted by Operation Hadin Kai of the Nigeria Military Command and Control Centre played an immense role that led to the mass surrender.

The Special adviser to the governor on security matters who revealed that three more Chibok girls have also returned, added that the repentant Boko Haram members would not harm anyone because they were not forced to repent.

Nigerian Senate rejects amendment to Electoral Act

The Senate, on Wednesday, rejected the Executive request by President Muhammadu Buhari to amend the Electoral Act signed into law on the 25th February, 2022.

This followed the failure of the Electoral Act Amendment Bill to scale through second reading on the floor during plenary.

The move to reject the bill was signaled by a call from Senator Adamu Aliero for it to be stepped down after the Senate Leader, Yahaya Abdullahi, moved a motion for the bill to be read a second time.

Aliero, who came under a point of Order, drew the attention of his colleagues to the provision of Rule 52(5) of of the Senate Standing Order.

Order 52(5) provides that, “Reference shall not be made to any matter on which a judicial decision is pending, in such a way as might in the opinion of the President of the Senate prejudice the interest of parties thereto.”

He, therefore, advised the upper chamber to step down consideration of the bill pending the vacation of a court order delivered by the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday.

According to the Lawmaker, going ahead with the amendment of the Act was in clear conflict with the sub judice rule in law which prevents the legislature from deliberating or considering any matter already before a court of competent jurisdiction.

“Going ahead to consider the bill obviously will mean that we are disrespecting that order, and this is an institution of the Senate – the symbol of Nigeria’s Lawmaking body.

“We should not be seen to be disobeying the court order. No matter how bad that court order is, we should respect it.

“So, I’m of the opinion that we should stop considering this bill pending the time the court set aside that order, and I think I’m speaking the opinion of my colleagues here”, Aliero said.

The court, in a ruling delivered by Inyang Ekwo, on an ex-parte application by the People’s Democratic Party, barred the President Muhammadu Buhari, the Attorney General of the Federation and the Senate President from tampering with the newly amended Electoral Act 2022.

The Court maintained that the Electoral Act, having become a valid law could not be altered without following the due process of law.

The Senate President, while ruling on Aliero’s point of Order, insisted that the move by the upper chamber to amend the Electoral Act was in line with exercising its Constitutional duties amid following due process.

“To be specific to this particular request, for us in the Senate, it is to look at the request and follow our due process.

“Looking at the request does not mean granting the request. Members of the National Assembly are at liberty to review the request to see if the arguments by the Executive arm of government are convincing enough.

“If the arguments are not convincing enough, the National Assembly can deny the request, and that is how it is. We have no incumbrance from that order.

“So, it is for Senators here to decide to vote for this amendment or vote against it.

“I think we are not breaching any law, in fact, we are trying to promote democracy because to do otherwise may mean that one day someone will go to court and say that the Senate of the National Assembly should not sit.

“I want to appeal to all of us, that we are on the right course and my ruling remains that we are going ahead to consider the proposal which the Leader of the Senate is leading the debate.

“At the end of the debate, we are going to vote, and the vote will decide the fate of the bill.

“I’m sure all of us know that whatever we do here is to protect democracy and the sanctity of the upper chamber”, the Senate President said.

The Senate Leader, was then given the floor to lead the debate on the Electoral Act Amendment bill.

Contributing to the debate, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe (Abia South), kicked against the deletion of Section 84(12) of the Electoral Act Amendment Bill as requested by President Buhari.

He said, “There are certain things that we see which we think we don’t even have to come here to debate.

“One of those things is the fact that in every democracy, all over the world, there are certain rules which we don’t need to be told about.

“One of those rules is the fact that you cannot be a referee and a player on the same field. It is either you’re a referee or a player.

“So, every other place in the world where democracy is practiced including Nigeria, we don’t need to be told that if we want to run for office, we have to resign. That is a sine qua non that we don’t even need to debate.

“Yet here we are today in Nigeria, and people think they can sit in an office and contest an election and become candidates and continue to sit in that office until the date of election.

“So, how would we continue to debase democracy in this way?

“Mr. President, I think, a cursory look at this paper shows that this paper is dead on arrival. And I urge you my colleagues, to help us to continue to deepen democracy by insisting that this bill not be read a second time in any manner whatsoever.”

Smart Adeyemi (Kogi West), who was also opposed to the consideration of the bill said, “one of the hallmarks of democracy is Justice, Fairness and Equity.

“Indeed, Mr. President, it is a settled matter in law that you cannot be a judge over you own case.

“In any election, where people have the added advantage of holding executive power, either by proxy or directly or by appointment, for such people to have access and compete with others who came from the street, I think is an unjust society.

“Therefore, Mr. President, I disagree with all the arguments on the need to consider a decision that has already been settled.”

A move by the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, to sway his colleagues was unsuccessful.

The bill, when eventually put to a voice vote for second reading by the Senate President after its consideration, received a resounding ‘nay’ from Senators in the majority across party lines.

Mistaken Identity: Ryan Coogler, Black Panther CEO, arrested and placed in handcuffs (video)

Black Panther director, Ryan Coogler, was briefly detained by police in Atlanta after he was mistaken for a bank robber,

The incident took place on January 7 but Atlanta police released footage on Wednesday, March 9.

Coogler, 35, had gone to Bank of America to make a transaction.

Coogler handed the bank teller a withdrawal slip with a note written on the back that reportedly read, “I would like to withdraw $12,000 cash from my checking account. Please do the money count somewhere else. I’d like to be discreet.”

The bank teller misinterpreted the situation as an attempted robbery when the transaction amount exceeded $10,000 and informed her boss.

The police were called and they arrived at the bank and reportedly detained two people in an SUV who were waiting for Coogler outside the bank.

When they entered the bank, they placed Coogler in handcuffs and led him out of the bank.

“From the call we got, sounded like someone was trying to rob the bank,” one of the officers says in the bodycam footage.

Coogler was later released.

Bank of America has now apologised for the mistake at the bank.

Coogler confirmed the incident to Variety, saying: “This situation should never have happened. However, Bank of America worked with me and addressed it to my satisfaction and we have moved on.”

Roman Abramovich can’t sell Chelsea FC as all his assets frozen in Britain

Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich has been sanctioned by the UK government effectively blocking the sale of the club over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The billionaire Russian oligarch will have all his assets frozen, banned from coming to Britain and from doing business there.

According to UK Sun, Chelsea will be granted a special licence to continue playing but Abramovich will not profit from the club. The club is also not allowed to sell tickets – with only season ticket holders being able to attend fixtures.

In a statement on Thursday March 10, UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson said: “There can be no safe havens for those who have supported Putin’s vicious assault on Ukraine.

“Today’s sanctions are the latest step in the UK’s unwavering support for the Ukrainian people.

“We will be ruthless in pursuing those who enable the killing of civilians, destruction of hospitals, and illegal occupation of sovereign allies.”

Abramovich is among seven Putin cronies sanctioned today to keep twisting the thumbscrews on Russia for invading Ukraine.

News first emerged last week that Abramovich had listed the club for sale following the outbreak of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. However, the billionaire cannot sell the five-time Premier League champions, and the UK Government would need to give special dispensation for the sale of the club – with Abramovich receiving no money for it either directly or indirectly.

‘President #Vladimir #Putin could launch chemical weapons attack on Kyiv’ – Western officials warn

Western officials have warned of their ‘serious concern’ that Russian President Vladimir Putin could use chemical weapons in Ukraine to commit further atrocities during the invasion.

The officials claim that an ‘utterly horrific’ attack could be launched on the capital of Kyiv to revive the Russian war effort amid logistical issues, mechanical failures, and a lack of fuel for their armoured vehicles.

In a briefing with journalists, one Western official who spoke on on condition of anonymity said: ‘I think we’ve got good reason to be concerned about possible use of non-conventional weapons, partly because of what we’ve seen has happened in other theatres.

‘As I’ve mentioned before, for example, what we’ve seen in Syria, partly because we’ve seen a bit of setting the scene for that in the false flag claims that are coming out, and other indications as well.

‘So it’s a serious concern for us.’

UK’s Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said that the UK has already handed Kyiv 3,615 anti-tank weapons, known as NLAWs, or new light-antitank weapons.

He said a ‘small consignment’ of Javelin anti-tank missiles will follow, while ministers consider whether to send Starstreak high-velocity anti-air missiles.

But a Polish proposal to hand its MiG-29 fighter jets to a US military base in Germany, with the expectation they would be handed to Ukrainian pilots, was dismissed in Washington.

The warnings came as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared a Russian missile attack had landed a ‘direct strike’ on a maternity hospital in the southern port city of Mariupol.

The hospital was decimated, with women and children feared trapped underground in what Zelensky described as ‘an atrocity’.

Ukraine’s Foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba called it a ‘petrifying war crime’, as he pleaded for allies to supply Ukraine with aircraft.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said there are ‘few things more depraved than targeting the vulnerable and defenceless, while Foreign Secretary Liz Truss described the hospital attack as ‘absolutely abhorrent’, but continued to reject Ukraine’s request for a no-fly zone to be imposed over its skies.

Pep Guardiola celebrates as Manchester City qualifies for Champions League quarter final

Pep Guardiola said Manchester City’s routine stroll into the Champions League quarter-finals is cause for celebration despite a subdued 0-0 draw against Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday.

All the hard work for the English champions was done with a 5-0 win in the Portuguese capital three weeks ago as City reached the last eight for the fifth consecutive season.

“It’s a good sign,” said Guardiola. “The last decade, step-by-step the club grew up.

“Every season playing this competition, qualifying for last 16 and now in the best eight teams in Europe.”

City are on course for a fourth Premier League title in five seasons, but the Champions League has so far remained out of reach despite the billions invested by the club’s Abu Dhabi owners.

Guardiola knows his legacy in Manchester will be judged on whether he can finally make City champions of Europe.

However, he believes the achievement of just becoming a regular contender should not be overlooked.

“Every year when we qualify for the Champions League I celebrate it that night because I know how difficult it is,” he added.

“When you qualify for last 16, I celebrate it. Now it’s time to congratulate everyone, focus on the Premier League and see who we get in the draw.”

A much tougher test will lie ahead in the last eight as Sporting set out at the Etihad just to avoid another embarrassing scoreline like the one they suffered on home soil.

“After the result of the first game the tie became practically impossible,” said Sporting goalkeeper Antonio Adan.

“The team was better defensively, and they didn’t play with the same clarity either. We leave satisfied.”

Guardiola handed a European debut to teenage right-back CJ Egan-Riley with a number of defenders out through injury, illness or suspension.

Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez were also rested from the start, but City should still have won the game comfortably.

Raheem Sterling wasted the best of the home side’s chances as the England international failed to lift the ball over Adan from Phil Foden’s sensational through ball.

After an uneventful first half, City thought they had claimed the lead through Gabriel Jesus early in the second period.

Mahrez, introduced at the break, ran into the box and slid the ball into the Brazilian on the left.

Jesus smashed in from a tight angle but the goal was disallowed for offside following a VAR review.

The state of the tie was summed up when Guardiola took the chance to give 36-year-old goalkeeper Scott Carson his first Champions League appearance since 2005, replacing Ederson 17 minutes from time.

Carson was called into action to bravely block from Pedro Porro with Sporting’s best chance moments later.

Mahrez, John Stones and Sterling all missed chances late on to break the deadlock, but Sporting salvaged some pride by holding out for a clean sheet.

The husband and father of the Ukrainian woman and two children killed by mortar fire as they tried to escape shelling outside Kyiv found out about his family’s murder on Twitter.

Tatiana Perebeinis, 43, her kids Mykyta, 18; Alisa, 9; and Anatoly Berezhnyi, 26 — a church volunteer who was helping them escape — were killed by Russian forces as they ran across a damaged bridge in Irpin on Sunday, March 6.

A photo of their bodies strewn across the pavement led Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to promise he would kill “every bastard” responsible for the indiscriminate civilian slaughter.

Perebyinis said he felt it was important that footage of his wife and children’s ghastly death had enraged Ukraine leaders and pulled on the heartstrings of sympathizers across the globe.

“The whole world should know what is happening here,” he told the paper.

Tatiana, an IT worker, had been urged by her company to evacuate last month. However, she didn’t leave sooner over concerns of how to bring her mother, who has Alzheimer’s disease.

She had been taking cover in the family’s basement with her children after a shell hit their building, according to the report.

Tatiana’s son Mykyta slept all day and stayed up all night, watching over his mother and sister.

“My son was under a lot of stress,” Mr. Perebyinis said.

When attacks intensified, his wife decided to flee the area with her children and parents.

On Saturday, March 5, they attempted to leave town in their minivan, but were dissuaded by a tank rolling by on the street.

On Sunday morning they drove as far as they could, but were forced to evacuate their minivan and tried to cross the damaged bridge on foot, Perebyinis told the Times.

Perebyinis had been trying to monitor his family’s location on a cellphone app. He knew something had gone wrong when the tracker showed the phone was at a Kyiv hospital, and no one was picking up his calls.

He saw a Twitter post of the scene after reading reports that a family had been killed by a mortar strike on the evacuation route.

“I recognized the luggage and that is how I knew,” he reportedly said of the blood-stained suitcases and backpacks the family was carrying. The items were photographed next to their bodies.

Perebyinis’ mother and father-in-law were behind their daughter and grandchildren and were not harmed in the attack. They were staying with a family godmother, the paper reported.

To return to Kyiv, Perebyinis flew into Russia and crossed a land border into Poland, where Russian guards eventually let him pass after threatening to arrest him, according to the article.

“My whole family died in what you call a special operation and we call a war. You can do what you want with me. I have nothing left to lose,” Perebyinis reportedly said he told them.

It was the second time the couple, who met in high school, and their children were torn by war.

The family had moved to Kyiv in 2014 after being displaced by Russia’s uprising in the eastern city of Donetsk, Perebyinis reportedly said.

“We were married for 23 years and refurbished three apartments and never argued once,” Perebyinis said of his slain wife.

‘Pig-heart transplant’ patient dies after two months

The first person to receive a heart transplant from a genetically modified pig has died two months after the medical milestone.

This was made known by the hospital that carried out the surgery said Wednesday.

David Bennett, 57, had received his transplant on January 7, 2022, and passed away March 8,” the University of Maryland Medical System said in a statement.

“His condition began deteriorating several days ago. After it became clear that he would not recover, he was given compassionate palliative care. He was able to communicate with his family during his final hours,” the statement said.

The procedure raised hopes that advances in cross-species organ donation could one day solve the chronic shortage of human organs available for donation, and the team behind the operation say they still remain optimistic about its future success

“He proved to be a brave and noble patient who fought all the way to the end. We extend our sincerest condolences to his family,” said Bartley Griffith, the lead surgeon.

Bennett came to the hospital in the Eastern US state of Maryland in October 2021. He was bedridden and placed on emergency life support machine. He had been deemed ineligible for human transplant — a decision that is often taken when the recipient has very poor underlying health.

“We have gained invaluable insights learning that the genetically modified pig heart can function well within the human body while the immune system is adequately suppressed.

“We remain optimistic and plan on continuing our work in future clinical trials,” said Muhammad Mohiuddin, director of the university’s cardiac xenotransplantation programme.

The woman also said Chris texted her the next day and demanded she take Plan B, which she agreed to do as shown in the leaked texts.

ISIS hails Ukraine war as ‘crusaders against crusaders’

ISIS have praised the Ukraine war as a ‘divine punishment’ for the West which it hopes will destroy the ‘enemies of Islam’.

In a full-page article in its al-Naba newsletter, the terror group labelled Russia’s invasion of its neighbour as ‘crusaders against crusaders.’

They also said Muslims should not take sides in the war and predicted that there would be ‘major consequences’ regardless of the result.

The editorial said: ‘What is happening today, the direct bloody war between the Orthodox crusaders – Russia and Ukraine – is but one example of God’s punishment for them, as described in the Qu’ran.

‘Whether long or short, this Russian-Ukrainian war is but the beginning of the next wars between the Crusader countries, and the images of destruction and death we see are but a small scene of the situation in which the great wars begin.’

ISIS praises Ukraine war as

ISIS added the invasion was ‘not surprising’, saying it was ‘the state of the escalating competition between America and Russia to control the countries of Eastern Europe, especially after the policy of “support and containment” that America pursued’.

Islamic extremists have been debating which side to take in the war.

The terrorists said the invasion was an ‘amusing punishment… upon them for their disbelief in God Almighty’.

The article added: ‘The crusader versus crusader is still in its infancy, so, O God, perpetuate their wars and break their hearts.’

ISIS are also not backing Chechen Muslim forces which have been drafted into the war by Putin.

They branded the fighters, led by Ramzan Kadyrov, ‘apostate militias’, and compared them to ex-Afghan president Hamid Karzai who fought alongside George Bush and the US against the Taliban.

Last week, the Kremlin claimed the US was training up ISIS Jihadis to fight alongside Ukraine in the war, as part of Putin’s misinformation campaign.

Russia’s intelligence service said the US has trained the terrorists in ‘subversive and terrorist warfare methods with a focus on the Donbass region’.

Police said that the mobile phones of the Nigerian national that was used for the fraud have also been seized.

The complainant, Anitha, based at Kundara in Kollam, had received a message that she has won an online lottery and Rs 14 lakh has to be paid as tax, failing which a case will be booked against her name.

After she ignored the message, she received a WhatsApp message with a photo and details of the state police chief, saying that he (the DGP) was in Delhi and the money had to be transferred to the account number specified before he returns to the state.

Following this, she inquired with the office of the state police chief from where she was informed that the police chief was indeed in New Delhi.

Finding that the information received regarding SPC’s location from the state police headquarters matched with what she received in the WhatsApp message and believing that the message was legitimate, she immediately remitted the money to the account number specified in the WhatsApp message.

Thierry Henry recounts on his mental health struggles after he went through £10m divorce

Thierry Henry has opened up on the struggles he faced when he joined Spanish giants Barcelona back in 2007 from Arsenal.

The former French international joined the Gunners in 1999 and ended his eight-year stay in north London to join Barca for £16million.

Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry opens up on his mental health struggles after leaving the club for Barcelona as he went through ?10m divorce

Henry scored a club record 228 goals for Arsenal and won two Premier League titles – including in the 2003-04 ‘Invincibles’ season – and two FA Cups along the way. He also won four Premier League Golden Boots and was one of the first players to be inducted into the competition’s hall of fame.

However, his switch didn’t go exactly how he had planned as he arrived at the Nou Camp while still recovering from a lengthy injury and was also in the process of a divorce from his first wife, Claire Merry.

The couple had one child their daughter Tea in May 2005, before Henry paid nearly £10m as a divorce settlement, only four years after they tied the knot.

Henry spoke to French outlet L’Equipe, saying: ‘When I left Arsenal for Barcelona it took me a year to be well.

‘I arrived injured, I’m going through a divorce, I have to learn a new system, you mix it all up, keep playing the mind.’

Henry struggled to make a similar impact at Barcelona as he shared the spotlight with superstars like Lionel Messi, Ronaldinho, and Samuel Eto’o. Though, he won two LaLiga titles, one Copa del Rey and the 2009 Champions League.

But the forward revealed it was ‘taboo’ at the time he was struggling to speak freely about suffering from mental health.

‘In my time it was much more difficult, totally taboo. Even in the group,’ he added.

‘You came to the locker room: ‘Are you OK? Yes, even if things weren’t going well. Did you sleep well? Yes, even if it wasn’t. Are you in pain? No, even if you were in pain.’

The 44-year-old then made the switch to America in 2010 where he spent four seasons playing for the New York Red Bulls. He later returned to the Emirates on loan in 2012, where he scored 12 minutes into his second debut, before he retired as a player in 2014.

Henry is currently the assistant coach for Belgium, working under Roberto Martinez, while also working as a pundit.

Kelly Clarkson and her ex-husband reached divorce settlement to pay him over $1.3M plus $115,000 monthly spousal support

Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock have finally settled on their divorce settlement after a bitter battle.

TMZ reported that while the former American Idol winner walks away with the lion’s share of assets, LA Superior Court Judge Scott Gordon has signed off on terms which still gives Brandon a good sum of cash

The settlement sees Kelly, 39, granted primary custody of the pair’s two children, River Rose, seven, and Remington, five. Brandon, 45, will have the youngsters one weekend a month for the time being according to the settlement.

The singer also keeps the couple’s Montana ranch, but Brandon has been granted permission to stay there until June 1, as long as he pays $12.5k each month in rent. The settlement will have to be reevaluated if Brandon leaves Montana.

Kelly Clarkson will pay her ex a massive one-time payment of just over $1.3 million, as well as a monthly child support payment of $45,601 for their two children, River Rose, 7, and Remington Alexander, 5, which started Feb. 1, per court documents obtained by The Blast.

Brandon’s settlement is said to see him receive $115k every month in spousal support until January 2024.

The court document also state that the singer will get the family pets, multiple cars including a Ford Bronco, a Ford F-250, and a Porsche Cayenne, as well as a flight simulator.

The singer filed for divorce from Blackstock in June 2020 after seven years of marriage.

Kelly had been granted single status by the judge back in September and removed Brandon’s surname from Kelly’s legal name, she now goes by Kelly Brianne in reference to her middle name.

She will still be known as Kelly Clarkson in her professional life even though she has legally dropped her last name.

Kelly Clarkson has been in showbiz for 20 years since her brilliant success following her singing contest win. She has released nine studio albums since her American Idol victory in 2007.

Covid-19 infection accelerates aging of the brain and may lead to dementia – Research reveals

A new study has said that people who have had a case of Covid-19 no matter how mild may have accelerated aging of the brain and even increased chances of having dementia or Alzheimer’s.

The study, published Monday, March 7, in the journal Nature, is believed to be the largest of its kind and it found that the brains of those who had Covid-19 had a greater loss of gray matter and abnormalities in the brain tissue compared with those who didn’t have Covid-19.

The study showed that many of those changes were in the area of the brain related to the sense of smell.

“We were quite surprised to see clear differences in the brain even with mild infection,” lead author Gwenaëlle Douaud, an associate professor of neurosciences at the University of Oxford.

Dr Douaud and her colleagues checked brain imaging photos from 401 people who had Covid-19 between March 2020 and April 2021, both before infection and an average of 4½ months after infection.

They compared the results of the 401 people with brain imaging of 384 uninfected people similar in age, socioeconomics and risk factors such as blood pressure and obesity. Of the 401 infected people, 15 had been hospitalized.

Douaud explained that it is normal for people to lose 0.2% to 0.3% of gray matter every year in the memory-related areas of the brain as they age, but in the study evaluation, people who had been infected with the coronavirus lost an additional 0.2% to 2% of tissue compared with those who hadn’t been infected, a startling discovery.

In addition to imaging, the study participants were tested for their executive and cognitive function.

Using the Trail Making Test, the participants were tested for cognitive impairments associated with dementia and brain processing speed and function tests. The researchers found that those who had the greatest brain tissue loss also performed the worst on this exam.

“Since the abnormal changes we see in the infected participants’ brains might be partly related to their loss of smell, it is possible that recovering it might lead to these brain abnormalities becoming less marked over time. Similarly, it is likely that the harmful effects of the virus (whether direct, or indirect via inflammatory or immune reactions) decrease over time after infection. The best way to find out would be to scan these participants again in one or two years’ time,” she said…

Douaud added that the researchers anticipate reimaging and testing the participants in one or two years. And while the study finds some association between infection and brain function, it’s still not clear why.

The authors cautioned that the findings were only of a moment in time but noted that they “raise the possibility that longer-term consequences of SARS-CoV-2 infection might in time contribute to Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia.”

US govt. to ban imports of oil and gas from #Russia – Joe Biden says in response to Russia’s invasion

US President Joe Biden has announced that the U.S. will ban imports of Russian oil, a major escalation in the international response to Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine..

The move came as Western-allied nations work to sever Russia from the global economy and segregate Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The United Kingdom also announced its own plans to reduce its reliance on Russian oil imports by the end of the 2022.

“Today I am announcing the United States is targeting the main artery of Russia’s economy. We’re banning all imports of Russian oil and gas and energy,” Biden said at the White House. “That means Russian oil will no longer be acceptable at U.S. ports and the American people will deal another powerful blow to Putin’s war machine.”

“This is a step we’re taking to inflict further pain on Putin,” Biden said.

The European Union earlier Tuesday morning unveiled a plan to wean itself off of Russian fossil fuels.

“We simply cannot rely on a supplier who explicitly threatens us,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said in a press release.

The White House said Biden will sign an executive order banning Russian oil, liquefied natural gas and coal imports to the U.S.

The ban on new Russian oil contracts “is immediate,” a senior Biden administration official told reporters later Tuesday. In Russia, oil is it’s main export and number one source of revenue.

No new contracts will be allowed, and existing contracts for Russian oil must be removed within 45 days, the official said.

In 2021, the U.S. imported about 672,000 barrels a day from Russia , despite the US being self sufficient in oil, according to figures from the Energy Information Administration.

That amount makes up roughly 8% of the total U.S. imports of oil and refined products.

Most of the US’ crude oil and petroleum imports come from Canada, Mexico and Saudi Arabia, making the U.S. far less dependent on Russian oil unlike Germany, Italy, Hungary, the UK and other European countries.
.

The news of the ban, sent oil prices soaring on Tuesday.

The price on West Texas Intermediate crude futures, contracts for April oil deliveries, hit $129.44 a barrel. That level is just below a recent high of $130.50 a barrel hit on Monday, which at the time was the highest price on oil since 2008.

Since Russia’s invasion of neighboring Ukraine, Russia has faced unprecedented international reaction, as dozens of countries slap sanctions on the Kremlin, its ultra-rich oligarchs and even Putin himself.

Also, Russia’s currency has plummeted in value and its stock market has been closed since severe sanctions were announced by the West..

Russia wants a change of leadership in Ukraine, wants recognition of Luhansk and Donetsk occupied regions by Ukraine and wants the country not to join Transatlantic military alliance, NATO.

Bauchi State Govt. to marry off 100 repentant commercial sex workers

The Bauchi State Government has pledged to marry off at least 100 repentant commercial sex workers who indicated interest and presented themselves to the state’s Hisbah Department.

The Permanent Secretary in charge of the department, Alhaji Aminu Balarabe-Isah, made this known on Tuesday at the formal inauguration of vocational training for 575 repentant commercial sex workers in Bauchi.

He said the government would sponsor the weddings of both Muslim and Christian women among them, and provide them with dependable and reliable sources of livelihood.

“We would facilitate the entire process after obtaining their consent and that of their parents and guardians before the marriage takes place,” he added.

He commended them for taking the bold decision to renounce the practice, which may affect their lives negatively and place a permanent stigma on them.

The permanent secretary explained that the repentant sex workers would be trained on vocational skills which included hairdressing, knitting, entrepreneurship, tailoring and cosmetology.

He said other skills were makeup, catering, poultry/fishery, shoe/bag making, and computer literacy classes, adding that the training was in collaboration with the National Directorate of Employment.

“We would expand the scope of the training to the 20 existing local government areas of the state,” he said.

According to him, the day for the mass wedding will be announced after completing all necessary preparations and after ensuring that due processes are adhered to for the exercise.

A trainee, receiving training in tailoring, Maryam David, described the gesture as a welcome development and assured that she would never return to her previous lifestyle again.

She said she would use the knowledge acquired to establish her own business and eventually remarry to turn to a better life.

Similarly, Hadiza Mohammed commended the Gov. Bala Mohammed-led administration for initiating the programme, saying, “I am learning a vocation in hairdressing and I am happy for the opportunity.

“I will soon establish my own business to achieve self-sustainability, as my former way of life is regrettable and full of unnecessary risks,” she said.

“I am not sorry for letting Lionel Messi leave the club” – Joan Laporta says

Barcelona president, Joan Laporta has insisted that he is ‘not sorry’ about his bombshell decision to allow Lionel Messi to leave the club last summer.

The superstar footballer was forced to bid an emotional farewell to his boyhood club after their financial crisis left him unable to sign a contract extension, and he later joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.

However, Laporta has now revealed he does not regret his choice, despite labelling it the ‘saddest decision of all’, and says it was born of his desire to put the club first.  He also heaped praise on Xavi, predicting the manager will bring ‘many joys’ to the Nou Camp.

‘It was painful,’ he admitted in an interview with Barca TV, via Mundo Deportivo.

‘If I take stock, it is the saddest decision of all and I would never have wanted to make it, but I am not sorry either because I wanted to put the institution ahead of everything, even ahead of coaches and the best player in history.

‘And we had to do it. Because the situation we inherited is what it was. And due to a lot of will and intentionality we had, we came across a reality.

‘It might seem that there was nothing afterwards, but those of us who love Barça know that history continues and with work and well-thought-out decisions, we can continue on the path of success.’

The club chief has also spoken about his thought process behind hiring legend Xavi as Ronald Koeman’s replacement.

He has even admitted that he regrets not turning to the former midfielder earlier.

‘I would have done it before,’ he added. ‘It’s clear to me. I should have listened to my intuition but in life you can’t listen to intuitions.

‘You have to take into account many situations. I’m sure no decision is perfect but I didn’t, I made another decision according to other circumstances. And in the end the decision was good because we have improved.’

Hailing the manager Xavi’s work at Barcelona, Laporta said: ‘I was sure that one day he would be the coach and hopefully he would be the president with me.

‘Xavi is responding amply, magnificently well. He knows the club, he loves it, he respects decisions, he has personality so as not to be influenced, he is very clear about how we should play and he is a worker.

‘He is sick of football and that makes him live with what Barca is and everything that surrounds the team. I am very satisfied to have a coach like him, for many years. I am convinced that he will give us many joys.

Foreign soldiers joining Ukrainian army to help fight #Russia will fight till the end

Foreign fighters joining the Ukrainian army to help fight Russia won’t be able to leave until the war ends.

Officials have warned members of the International Legion of Territorial Defence of Ukraine that they will be free to leave only when the state of martial law is ended.

Now would-be recruits are having second thoughts at the Polish border after being handed contracts that effectively make them conscripts, the Daily Mail can reveal.

Kyiv says more than 20,000 foreigners from 52 countries have pledged to help fight back against the Russian invaders. It is unclear how many of those have arrived in Ukraine.

But volunteers have spoken of being put off by the tough contractual terms, poor vetting procedures, and logistical problems.

The Mail spoke to four British and foreign volunteers in Poland over the past week who have now scrapped plans to join the fighting.

John, a UK veteran who fought in Afghanistan for ten years, said he backed out after learning of the conditions, including being told to surrender his passport.

‘They don’t let you see the contract until you get into Ukraine,’ he said. ‘It says very clearly until the end of martial law. How long is that?’

Stephen, who served in Northern Ireland for six years, said the onerous conditions would cause problems for the recruitment drive.

‘A lot of the boys are coming across and not signing it, even though they want to go and fight,’ he said.

A Swedish national, Tomas, said Ukrainian military officials were unclear as to when a volunteer could take leave.

‘What if something happens to my family? I will need to go,’ he said. ‘They couldn’t give those reassurances.’

Transgender man gives birth to a baby boy after ‘surprise’ pregnancy

A transgender man, Ryan Sanderson has revealed how he gave birth to a son, ‘surprisingly’ as he never thought he would get pregnant.

Sanderson, a drama student, from Rochdale, Manchester, has been in the process of transitioning from female to male and taking hormone treatments for years.

Transgender man gives birth to son after

Ryan before transitioning

He also believed his now-ex partner was infertile.

But despite all this, nine weeks into hormone treatments, Ryan, 24, discovered he was pregnant in 2019.

Now, he has a son, Hendrick.

‘I didn’t believe I could get pregnant when on testosterone, until I found out that I was,’ said Ryan to Metro UK.

‘I think more trans men need to understand that they can get pregnant.

‘My ex-partner was under the impression that he was infertile, but that wasn’t the case.’

Ryan says he is now overjoyed to have given birth to his first child.

‘I knew instantly that I wanted to have the baby,’ said the dad.

‘I believed it to be fate, I’ve never been a devout follower of religion, but I felt like it was a sign to have a child before I was in too deep with testosterone treatments.

‘When I found out I was pregnant, Hendrick truly became my everything.

In 2021 he continued his hormonal treatments and says he has now finished the course .

‘My GP was slightly worried about complications, but the course of my pregnancy ran pretty smoothly.

‘Thankfully, I had a wonderful team of midwives that would address me with the appropriate pronouns, and if they made mistakes they would always apologise.

.
‘Sometimes they’d have questions, and it felt great to be able to answer them without them trying to offend me in anyway.’

Ryan says his ex-partner has told him he won’t be involved in training the child , so he’ll be a ‘baby daddy’ with the help of his supportive mum, Janette.

‘Without her, I’d be lost,’ he said. ‘She does so much for both Hendrick and I, and acts like a super-hero co-parent.

‘She’s read all of the books and understands the way in which I’d like him to be bought up.

‘My ex-partner doesn’t want to be in the picture, but I’ve got the full support of the rest of my family and friends.’

Speaking about his transition process, Ryan said;

‘I’d struggled for so long to become my true self and had even had to go with a private GP in order to get testosterone,’ he said.

‘I knew that I was a man from the age of seven and came out at 19.

‘Since coming out as Ryan, I’ve felt this freedom that I never felt as a girl, I do things for me instead of what society deems certain genders should do.

‘I got to chest feed Hendrick when he was born, as I knew it was the healthiest and best way to aid him in his growth.

‘In 2021, I had top surgery to remove my breasts which felt amazing, although I am sad at the thought of not being able to chest feed any of my future children.

He warned the West that Vladimir Putin will not stop once he has conquered Ukraine, telling a U.S. television channel: ‘We will come first. You will come second. Because the more this beast will eat, he wants more, more, and more.’

‘The more this beast will eats, he wants more, more, and more’

Zelensky, described Ukraine as a ‘zone of freedom’ that needed to be preserved.

‘And when the limits of rights and freedoms are being violated and stepped on, then you have to protect us,’ he said.

He added: ‘Today, war is here. Tomorrow, it will be in Lithuania, then in Poland, then in Germany.

‘This is serious.’United States is far away, but in recent days, I do feel that United States are closer to us.’

The former actor, gave his Facebook audience a tour of the palace, joking: ‘We used to say Monday, Monday is a hard day.

‘But it is war in our country, so every day is a hard day.’

‘We are all in our places working, where we should be. My team is in Kyiv with me.

‘We are all fighting, we are all contributing to our victory which will surely happen.’

Also, in an interview from the palace with ABC News, Zelensky once again appealed to the United States to enforce a no-fly zone.

‘I told him (Joe Biden) that for us, the most important thing today is the security in the sky,’ Zelensky said.

‘We cannot allow Russia to be active there only, because they’re bombing us, they are shelling us, they are bombing us, they are sending missiles, helicopters, jet fighters – a lot of things.

‘But we are not doing this because we don’t have the sky.

‘We don’t control our sky.’

ABC asked if he was concerned about NATO forces shooting down Russian planes, and Zelensky replied: ‘What do you mean, to shoot down Russian planes?

‘If the missile is flying – yesterday, for example, the missile hit the university in the city of Kharkiv, and the dormitory.

‘And the same missile hit the tumor, pediatric clinic in Kyiv, so, if this missile is flying, so, are you thinking whether to shoot it down or not?

‘I think there is no any other answer, but to – yes, yes, they need to be shot down.

‘You have to preserve lives.’

He added that he was confident U.S. forces were up to the challenge.

‘I’m sure that the brave American soldiers who would be shooting it down knowing that it is flying towards the students, I’m sure that they had no doubt in doing so,’ Zelensky said.

The U.S. and its NATO allies have so far sent 17,000 anti-tank missiles to Ukraine, as part of a $350 million aid package agreed on February 26 – day two of the conflict.

Yet Zelensky said more could be done.

‘I’m sure that the president can do more. I’m sure he can,’ he said.

‘And I would like to believe that – that he’s capable of doing that.’

When asked if Putin himself was a war criminal, Zelensky said;

‘I think that all people who came to our land, all people who gave those orders, all soldiers who were shooting, they’re all war criminals,’ he replied.

‘I think he is capable of stopping the war that he started.

‘And even if he doesn’t think that he was the one who started, he should know one important thing, a thing that cannot deny, that stopping the war is what he’s capable of.’

US Govt. fear Russia may attack truck load of 17,000 vital anti-tank missiles donated to Ukraine forces

The United States and its allies in NATO are rushing to send badly needed weapons to the Ukranian military, amid growing concern that Russia may try and cut off the weapons pipeline by bombing truckloads of military assistance being sent to Ukraine to aid in the ongoing war with Russia.

Images of NATO aircraft unloading near the border with Ukraine were shared on social media on Monday.

Despite the White House approving a $350 million package of military support and the US with it’s allied supplying 17,000 anti-tank missiles to Ukraine, senior US officials speaking to ABC news say Russia may attack one of those supply chains in Poland before it gets to Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin could potentially use air power to stop the flow, ABC reported.

The supply lines could be attacked from a distance, officials believe.

Last week Friday, a US defense official told reporters the weapons were getting into Ukraine through ‘multiple venues’ .

‘There are multiple venues through which the support is getting to the Ukrainians on the ground,’ they said, according to The Hill.

‘I really don’t want to get more specific than that. We want to be able to continue to help the Ukrainians as much and for as long as we can, so we’re going to be very careful about how we talk about how that support is getting into their hands.’

Russia recently warned the West against helping Ukraine’- saying it’ll see any assistance to Ukraine as a declaration of war.

88 #Russian fighter jets blown out of sky by #Ukrainian forces

Video of a Russian fighter being blown out of the sky by Ukrainian forces has been shared online.

The country which has been in a bloody conflict with Russia for 11 days now has also claimed that it has destroyed 285 Russian tanks and 88 jets.

Despite initial concerns Ukraine would quickly fall to Russia, power is instead said to be draining from the Kremlin as the botched invasion drags on.

The clip painting a picture of Putin’s failures appears to show a Russian Su-25 fighter jet being destroyed as it soared over Kharkiv. The plane transforms into a fireball as it plummets to the ground, much to the delight of Ukrainians watching below.

Regional governor of Kharkiv, Oleg Synegubov, said his city’s Air Defence Forces subdued the target with two surface-to-air missiles. The aircraft can be seen erupting over Ukraine’s second city as people cheer before crashing to the ground and exploding again upon impact.

Synegubov said the jet was part of a legion of Russian aircraft that had been conducting regular bombing campaigns over the city.

Other video taken from a different angle from a security camera also shows the plane being shot down in a blazing ball of fire.

And a third video shows the plane crashing to the ground and lighting up the night sky, filmed from the window of someone’s home.

Just yesterday footage emerged of Russian pilots pleading for their lives as they were captured by soldiers and civilians.

Pictures show the burning wrecks of Russian aircraft and the terrified faces of Putin’s men as they were detained after ejecting from their planes.

Footage shared online saw the airmen tied up with their hands behind their backs – some bloody after their desperate escapes, while explaining they were simply “following orders”.

Ukraine today claimed they have killed 11,000 Russian troops since the invasion began. With 11 days having passed since the initial attack, that means that Putin has lost approximately 1,000 men every single day.

They also say they have taken out 44 planes, 48 helicopters, 285 tanks, 109 artillery pieces and 985 armored personnel carriers.

Russian airstrikes are also believed to have killed hundreds, maybe thousands of civilians across Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin’s daughter deletes Instagram after verbal abuse over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine

Vladimir Putin’s alleged love child has deleted her Instagram account after suffering verbal abuse following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Luiza Krivonogikh, whose Instagram boasted 84,000 followers, became a target for trolls after her rumored father gave the orders for Russian troops to invade Ukraine last month.

Twitter users left hostile comments on her page, others accused her of being guilty of “passive complicity” for not talking to Putin. Some went as far as calling her “the daughter of that devil” and “war criminal”.

The 18-year-old, who used to share photos of her lavish lifestyle, has now disabled her account following the verbal abuse.

Luiza is the daughter of cleaner-turned-multimillionaire Svetlana Krivonogikh, 46, who has long been rumored to have been Putin’s mistress in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Putin?s alleged love child deletes Instagram after verbal abuse over Russia

Putin and Svetlana have never commented on their alleged relationship or Luiza’s rumored paternity. Luiza was outed by the Russian media as Putin’s alleged daughter in 2019.

Putin has two adult daughters, Maria, 36, and Katerina, 35, from his marriage to former flight attendant Lyudmila Aleksandrovna Shkrebneva.

Putin is alleged to have a string of other children, including four with his mistress Alina Kabaeva, but he has never confirmed the rumors.

Kabaeva, a former Olympic gymnast, was allegedly hiding out in a secure chalet in Switzerland with her children amid the Ukraine invasion, a Page Six source said.

Bawa, EFCC Boss, support Obasanjo’s opinion that some 2023 presidential aspirants ought to be in jail

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, on Monday, threw his support for the remark made by former President Olusegun Obasanjo that many of those seeking to occupy political positions ought to be in jail.

The anti-graft agency boss, who spoke with newsmen in Lagos, said the commission could not stop politicians undergoing trials from contesting since there was a presumption of innocence until proven guilty by a competent court.

“Baba is right because there are some people out there that we have cases against, but there is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty; even if the matters are in court, if the judge has not pronounced them guilty, they still have the right to contest election that is the situation we have found ourselves in.

“There are some instances, there are quite a number of them who we are prosecuting in court and journalists have written articles about them depending on how you got your information, “he said.

Bawa said that the radical reforms he carried out since the assumption of office last year were yielding results as the commission secured a total of 2,220 convictions across all its commands in 2021.

He said it was the highest conviction secured by the anti-graft agency since inception.

He added that the commission recovered N152.09 billion and $386.22 million from various cases in 2021, adding that the anti-graft agency also recovered huge sums of money in other foreign currencies.

The EFCC boss solicited the support of media professionals in the country in the fight against corruption while pledging that the commission under his watch was not interested in media trials but intelligence-driven prosecution of cases.

He said the commission had embraced technology and intelligence in its investigative focus.

“Our friendship with #Russia is rock solid” – China says

China on Monday March 7, reiterated its position on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, calling for all parties involved to engage in dialogue.

China’s Foreign Minister, Wang Yi said China’s “rock-solid” friendship with Russia and said the prospects for cooperation between the two countries are very broad.

At a press conference explaining Beijing’s position on the conflict, Wang said the causes of the “Ukraine situation” were “complex” and had not happened overnight.

“Solving complex problems requires calmness and rationality, rather than adding fuel to the fire and intensifying contradictions,” he said.

Wang called on both sides to settle disputes by peaceful means, through dialogue and negotiation, and “respect and protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries.”

“We must accommodate the legitimate security concerns of the parties involved,” he said.

The countries involved should keep in mind the “long-term peace and stability of the region and put in place a balanced, effective, and sustainable European security architecture,” Wang said.

Wang said Russia was Beijing’s “most important strategic partner” and their bilateral relations were “conducive to world peace, stability, and development.”

“No matter how sinister the international situation is, both China and Russia will maintain their strategic determination and continuously push forward the comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination in the new era,” he said.

According to customs data revealed on Monday, Chinese trade with Russia saw a surge in the run-up to the war in Ukraine.

Exports to Russia rose 41% in January and February compared to the same period in the previous year.

This was the fastest rate among China’s major trading partners in the first two months of the year, outpacing trade with the European Union and the United States.

“Nigeria may not exist as a nation judging by current events” – Obasanjo

Obasanjo says Kashamu used law and politics to evade justice

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that we might be saying goodbye to Nigeria as a nation following recent trends in the country.

Obasanjo said this on Saturday March 5,  at the international symposium organised to mark his 85th birthday at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The symposium was attended physically and virtually by eminent personalities, including: President Paul Kagame, President Nicéphore Soglo, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Professor Goski Alabi (Ghana); Ambassador Barry Desker (Singapore); Professor Juma Shabani (Burundi); Dr. Mary Khimulu (Kenya); Dr. Moussa Kondo (Mali); Professor Sarah Agbor (Cameroon); Professor Chukwuma Soludo and Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, among others.

In his address titled “Africa Narrative with Nigeria Situation”, Obasanjo stated that Nigerians must learn from the events of the past and put aside sentiments in choosing the next President of the country.

He said;

“Since 1999, we have changed from one political party or another we have maneuvered and manipulated to the point that election results are no longer reflections of the will of the people and we seemed to be progressively going back rather than going forward politically, economically and socially.

“If we continue in the same pattern of recycling, sweet-word campaigning, maneuvering without substance of integrity, honesty, patriotism, commitment, outreach, courage, understanding of what make a nation and what make for development, we will soon have to say goodbye to Nigeria as a nation.

“If in 2015, Nigeria was 75 percent a country and 50 percent a nation, today, Nigeria will not be more than 50 percent a country and 25 percent a nation. That’s how bad we have gone down in nation building.

“It is beyond professional and commercial politicians alone. It demands and requires all hands on deck. I mean Nigerians in all walks of life: politicians, community leaders, traditional leaders, religious leaders, diplomatic leaders, leaders in the academia, leaders in all aspects of government life, and leaders in other aspects of civil society.

“As long as we continue to do the same thing over and over again, the result will not be different.”

The former President lamented that the principles of federal character which ought to serve as a guideline for the emergence of quality leaders had been bastardised by selfish politicians and advised politicians to prioritise nation-building in whatever political arrangement they make.

Obasanjo added that this might lead to collapse of the nation. He said;

“I cast a cursory look at some of the people running around and those for whom people are running around. If EFCC and ICPC will have done their jobs properly and supported adequately by the judiciary, most of them would be in jail.

“Any person who has no integrity in small things cannot have integrity in big things. Fixing Nigeria must begin on the principles of nation building, not necessarily on emotion, sentiments, euphoria, ignorance, incompetence, ethnicity, nepotism, bigotry, sectionalism, regionalism, religion or class.

“The issues of security, stability, development, economy and our relationship within Africa and with the rest of the world can only be taken care of if we get the issue of the nation building right. We have a lot to learn from the events of the last almost 24 years and God is not to blame if we fail.

“It would appear that we are not getting our priorities right and that can spell doom on our country if we fail to do what we should do for nation-building in terms of fundamentals of equity, justice, common ideals, popular education, shared values, mutual respect and equality of opportunity anchored and propelled by leaders across the board that are persons of integrity, honour, morality, competence, great virtue, courage to do what is right, humility and ability to put a team together and work with them in selfless devotion and service with the fear of God.”

The President also said that if objectivity, national interest and patriotism are brought to bear coupled with equity, integrity, performance, no region or zone should claim to have monopoly of Nigerians.

Obasanjo added;

“If we are going fault finding, zonally or regionally, no region or zone can claim absolute innocence. And federal character is a very important and perfect instrument of nation-building in our Constitution. When we have adequately taken care of nation-building measures especially management of our unity and taken care of every anomalous situation and performance or lack of it, that have put us in political, security, economic and solid quagmire situations that we find ourselves, then we must zero on personalities.

“Each contender must be properly x-rayed and profiled from birth and Nigerians must be educated to be able to make a choice that will be in the national interest and propel Nigeria forward.

“Such a person will have to lead what remains of the nation to courageously continue on the path of nation-building as a national team leader, no matter on what platform he or she assumes leadership. No one can do it alone. We must, however, stop sacrificing character, track records and performance on the altar of ethnic, regional or religious jingoism. As the watchman counts on daybreak, so too do I count on Nigerians and Nigeria to bring forth that person.

“I do not, cannot and will not at this point suggest the how and to what, I can only count on the patriotic commitment and desires of well-meaning Nigerians to start the process of forging a path out of darkness into the light of salvation and a new glorious dawn.

“It is time to reach into the ability of Nigeria to always snatch victory from the jaws of defeat as we start this collective search on how we can climb out of this hole in which we find our country, Nigeria.”

#Chuhuiv city retaken by Ukrainian forces after killing 2 Russian commandos

Ukrainian forces have recaptured the eastern city of Chuhuiv, defence officials have announced.

The General Staff said the defending forces had seized the city from the Russians and inflicted heavy losses on Putin’s men in both personnel and equipment.

Two high-ranking Russian commanders were killed in the battle.

The strategic city of 31,000 people is located 23 miles from Kharkiv, the second biggest city in Ukraine which has been subjected to intense bombardment.

The General Staff said on Facebook: ‘In the course of hostilities, the city of Chuhuiv was liberated.

‘The occupiers suffered heavy losses in personnel and equipment.

‘Lieutenant Colonel Dmitry Safronov, Commander of the 61st Separate Marine Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces, and Lieutenant Colonel Denis Glebov, Deputy Commander of the 11th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces, were killed.’

The city had suffered intense shelling since the start of the war, and was the site of an airstrike which severely wounded a woman, 52, who has since become one of the defining images of the war

Despite the heavy bombardment, Ukraine have now been able to hold off Russia and even launch counterattacks to regain the city.

It comes as cities were hit by fresh bombardments this morning with Vladimir Putin’s invasion entering its twelfth day.

Volodymyr Zelensky vowed that ‘God will not forgive’ and Ukraine ‘will not forget’ the slaughter of civilians by Russian, saying a ‘day of judgement’ is coming for them.

Zelensky, in a late-night address to his countrymen on the Orthodox Christian holiday of ‘Forgiveness Sunday’, recalled how a family of four were among eight civilians killed by Russian mortars while trying to flee the city of Irpin – near Kyiv – earlier in the day.

‘We will not forgive. We will not forget,’ he told listeners. ‘We cannot forgive the hundreds upon hundreds of victims. Nor the thousands upon thousands who have suffered,’ he added. ‘God will not forgive. Not today. Not tomorrow. Never.’

Zimbabwe Presidential Guards arrested for Armed-robbery

Three Zimbabwe Army Presidential soldiers have been arrested for robbery after a family was robbed at gunpoint at a farm in Beatrice, Mashonaland East.

Among those arrested is a soldier who retired from the unit. Local news platforms reported that Shadreck Kadira(33), Munyaradzi Munyuki (27) and Busani Moyo (29) were arrested by the police in connection to a robbery case in Beatrice which happened on the 28th of February.

Police said the trio, in connivance with three others, launched a raid on Houmoed Farm where they quickly overpowered Luke Williams, 19, who was relaxing in his bedroom cottage.

After he was tied with shoelaces and had a gun pointed at him, he handed the robbers US$250. The robbers then moved on to the main house where they woke up David George Rickards, 67, and his wife Philliper Rickards, 62.

After threatening to shoot the couple, police say Philliper handed over US$850. The robbers also forced the couple to open the safe which had Z$1,000 in Z$5 notes. The robbers did not take anything.

The police revealed that the alarm was triggered when one of the robbers tried to switch off the outside lights. This alerted workers at the farm and the police were called in.  The robbers fled, splitting into two groups of three.

Officers tracked their footprints to Harare-Masvingo Road and saw some of the suspects looking for transport. A police roadblock 20km out of Beatrice, led to the arrest of the three suspects.

Police recovered a bracelet and a knife stolen at the farm. They also recovered US$160, US$172 and US$155 from each of the suspects.

Investigators are on the hunt for the three other suspects only identified as Shumba Murambwi, a Junior and one Kheda.

#Vladimir #Putin maybe dying of stomach cancer – new reports state

A top Royal Navy admiral has said Vladimir Putin is “a man in a hurry” and added that his mooted terminal illness is the reason behind his hasty invasion of Ukraine.

Retired Rear Admiral Chris Parry hosted an online debate with schoolchildren in Portsmouth, Hampshire on Friday evening, when he made the ominous comments, as reported by The News.

“He has been using these very long tables to interview people,” Falklands veteran Rear Adm Parry said. “I think his immune system might be suppressed at the moment. So he is a man in a hurry.”

The news follows intelligence reports from the Pentagon that suggested the Russian leader is dying from bowel cancer.

It is believed his “puffy face” is a sign he is taking chemotherapy drugs or steroids.

His unsmiling expression shows he is in constant pain, US sources say.

This could have made him more aggressive or he may be attacking Ukraine as he knows he is dying and wants to leave a legacy.

An ex-military intelligence officer now working at the Pentagon said analysts have been studying Putin, 69, and believe he is gravely ill.

The source said: “In the past we have seen him smile, but in 2022 there are few pictures of him looking happy.

“His look suggests he is in pain and our people suggest his angry look is most likely as a result of him being in agony.

“Our people are confident he is ill – he is concerned about Covid as he keeps his staff at a distance.”

Rear Adm Parry also described how the war began and warned of how far president Putin might take it.

“What I think will happen is he will occupy Ukraine to the east of the Dnieper [river], he will totally occupy this region known as “New Russia” across the bottom of the country, cutting Ukraine off from the Black Sea, and he will leave that rump of the north-west, to the west of Kyiv to it’s own devices as long as it stays neutral.”

Lewandowski, Bayern Munich Striker, cuts his ties with Huawei in support for Ukraine

Bayern Munich and Poland striker, Robert Lewandowski has cut ties with Chinese technology company Huawei amid reports they are helping Russia after Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

Reports in China say the tech giant has been helping Vladimir Putin’s efforts to stabilise Russia’s internet network after it came under attack from hacker groups across the globe.

A report, which appeared on a Chinese news site but was later deleted, claimed that Huawei would use its research centres to train ‘50,000 technical experts in Russia’.

And now Lewandowski has decided to quit his role as a regional ambassador for the company in Poland, central and eastern Europe, and Scandinavia.

‘Huawei CBG Polska regrets the end of the partnership with Robert Lewandowski. We appreciate our long-term cooperation and wish him every success in the future,’ read an update from the company.

The striker’s agent, Tomasz Zawislak, also provided an update, revealing to Interia Sport that the breakdown of the sponsorship deal came from Lewandowski’s decision rather than Huawei.

‘It is true. Today we decided to end the marketing cooperation between Robert Lewandowski and the Huawei brand,’ he explained.

‘Therefore, the implementation of all promotional services has been suspended on our part.’

Zawislak was asked whether Lewandowski’s decision was linked to the company still operating in Russia.

He replied: ‘We do not have full information on this, so I will stop at what we have already stated.’

Russian forces continued to pummel some Ukrainian after president Vladimir Putin ordered his troops to invade their neighbours.

Poland international Lewandowski has been a vocal critic of Putin’s invasion and led his country’s boycott of their World Cup play-off with Russia.

The game was due to take place later this month but has now been scrapped after Russia were banned by FIFA and UEFA.

‘It is the right decision!’ tweeted Lewandowski’s as Poland’s boycott was announced.

‘I can’t imagine playing a match with the Russian National Team in a situation when armed aggression in Ukraine continues.

‘Russian footballers and fans are not responsible for this, but we can’t pretend that nothing is happening.’

India authorities may block internet blackouts to prevent cheating during school exams

Authorities in India are imposing internet blackouts to prevent cheating during school exams.

Officials have said they are using the internet jammers near schools to stop questions from being leaked on WhatsApp as the exam starts in the country.

Online blackouts will be imposed in certain areas, according to the West Bengal state government.

They will especially be imposed near exam centres. The blackout is being implemented to prevent more screenshots of exam papers surfacing on social media sites, according to The Times.

India’s equivalent of GCSEs are Board Secondary School Examinations and they started on Monday. The exams are sat by around two million 15 and 16-year-old pupils every year.

Despite phones and electronic devices being banned, there have been cheating scandals in the past.

Police stations and secure government exam centres often store exam papers beforehand. But before the coronavirus pandemic and two years in a row, papers were leaked in West Bengal and other states such as Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

Fears grew that there were corrupt police officers and officials leaking the exam papers.

The country has also put other measures in place to stop students from cheating. Students are not allowed to go to the toilet in the first hour and 15 minutes of an exam.

This is in case of cheat sheets being hidden in the toilets. Also, many exam centres will have CCTV.

Authorities also confirmed that they are putting specialist teams in place to stop students travelling to exams being delayed by elephants on the road.

At this time of year, many elephants migrate to areas with more water.

Forestry Departments are deploying the teams to minimise disruption for students coming to school exams.

One West Bengal forest department official told The Calcutta Telegraph: ‘The challenge is that elephants sometimes stand on roads for a long time. In those cases a student may get late in reaching his or her exam centre. So, we have to keep a close watch on the roads in elephant zones.

Teacher fainted after 5-year-old student attacked her, kid may be charged (video)

A south Florida teacher was led out of school on a stretcher and taken to the hospital after she was attacked by a 5-year-old student.

Officials said Monday, March 7, that the attack, which happened last week, left the unnamed teacher “dazed” and “unresponsive.”

The teacher was found by first responders “sitting on the ground against the wall” and “appearing to be in a faint state” at Pines Lakes Elementary School, about 15 miles southwest of downtown Fort Lauderdale, according to a Pembroke Pines Police Department incident report.

The victim was “clearly weak and dazed,” able to “blink and breathe regularly but at no point was able to vocally respond or show signs of a response,” the report said.

The victim, in her late 30s or early 40s, is about 5-foot-4 with a slender frame, Broward Teachers Union President Anna Fusco told NBC News on Monday, March 7.

The incident started when a 5-year-old boy was removed from class for “throwing things around” and “flipping the chairs,” police said.

The boy was taken to an empty “cool down” room, where the attack on the teacher took place, police said.

The teacher was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood and has since been released, officials said.

While the young suspect is still being investigated for possible “aggravated assault with hands, fist and feet,” it’s unlikely he’ll be criminally prosecuted, a police spokesman told NBC News on Monday.

“As an institution, we condemn violence of any kind.”

TV Azteca broadcaster David Medrano Felix tweeted after the game, claiming an “unofficial” tally of 17 deaths, though at the time of writing this figure remains unconfirmed. Different sources carry different numbers of deaths and injuries, with The Mail reporting that two had died with a number of those injured in critical condition.

Former Mexico and Bolton Wanderers striker Jared Borgetti, who now covers the sport for ESPN, responded to the violence as footage from Queretaro continued to circulate.

“Who told them to go to the stadium, sing and get mad at their team for not playing well or winning. And what to say against the rival simply for wearing the opponent’s shirt,” Borgetti said.

“THESE ARE NOT FANS!! Soccer is a sport to go to have fun not to get angry.”

Atlas FC regrets and disapproves of the events that took place in Estadio Corregidora,” read the Atlas statement.

“Soccer must be an ally to promote values and fun for the whole family.

“We request the pertinent authorities, the Liga BBVA MX and the FMF, to investigate thoroughly and reach the ultimate consequences, determining the responsibilities of those who are involved, and applying the full force of the law.”

#Ukraine has a ‘Plan-B Government’ if Zelensky is assassinated, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken says

Ukraine’s government has a contingency plan in place if President Volodymyr Zelensky is killed during the Russian invasion, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken revealed on Sunday March 6.

Zelensky survived three assassination attempts by Russian-backed groups last week, the Times reported on Friday March 4.

During an interview with CBS News’ Face the Nation on Sunday, Blinken was asked if Russian leader Vladimir Putin would face ‘consequences’ for Zelensky’s murder.

‘And are you working on a contingency plan to support a Ukrainian government without him at the helm?’ host Margaret Brennan added.

Blinken first praised Zelensky and other Kyiv officials as ‘the embodiment of this incredibly brave Ukrainian people.’

‘The Ukrainians have plans in place — that I’m not going to talk about or get into any details on — to make sure that there is what we would call “continuity of government” one way or another. And let me leave it at that,’ he answered.

Intelligence reports circulated at the beginning of Putin’s invasion that his goal was to ‘behead’ the current democratically-elected Ukrainian government. The Russian autocrat has disparaged Zelensky and his deputies as ‘Nazis’ and ‘drug addicts.’

Hours after Blinken’s confirmation, Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio was forced to defend himself from criticism after sharing an image of Zelensky during a Zoom call despite being asked not to over concerns about the Ukrainian president’s security.

As the attack continued into its tenth day on Saturday, Rubio and his fellow GOP Senator Steve Daines of Montana posted photos from a live video call with Zelensky and members of Congress as it was taking place.

Ukraine’s ambassador had ‘explicitly’ asked lawmakers and their staff on the call to refrain from sharing it on social media, Democrat Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota said on Twitter after it concluded.

On Sunday, CNN State of the Union host Jake Tapper asked Rubio whether he thought it was a ‘mistake’ to share the image. Rubio brushed off the criticism, insisting there were no such rules in place when he tweeted and claiming there was ‘no risk posed’ to Zelensky.

‘Well, first of all, she asked that like 30 minutes into the call after I had already done it,’ the Florida Republican said.

‘The second is, I think she’s under the impression that no one knew that call was happening. That call had been widely reported, the — actually even the specific time had been reported,’ Rubio said.

‘There are over 300 people on it, all the call details had been emailed, so there’s nothing secure about that call.’

He added that the photo itself was ‘nondescript’ in its surroundings.

‘It looks like all the other ones you see out there publicly, so, I don’t — there’s no risk posed but you’re always going to have a couple of people that want their name in an article somewhere, mentioned in the press,’ Rubio said, seeming to allude to his Democrat colleague’s outrage.

Asked about it again on ABC’s This Week, Rubio firmly answered ‘no’ he did not believe he put Zelensky’s security at risk.

During his Saturday call with US lawmakers, Ukraine’s president urged Americans to send more weapons and to enact a no-fly zone over his nation’s borders.

#Vladimir #Putin hides his girlfriend with their 4 kids in Switzerland

Russian president, Vladimir Putin is allegedly hiding his Olympic gold-winning gymnast mistress with their four young children in a private chalet in Switzerland.

Alina Kabaeva, 38, who was once called ‘Russia’s most flexible woman’, supposedly has four children with the 69-year-old Russian tyrant.

It is thought Putin has two sons and two seven-year-old twin daughters with the decorated gymnast.

The children allegedly all have Swiss passports.

‘While Putin carries out his assault on the Ukraine, attacking innocent citizens and causing a refugee crisis, his family is holed up in a very private and very secure chalet somewhere in Switzerland,’ a source told Page Six.

It came as Russia’s war with Ukraine entered its tenth day. Thousands have allegedly been killed and more than a million people have been made to flee as refugees so far because of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

There have been many reports of her wearing a wedding ring, but no records of marriage between Kabaeva and Putin.

She is reported to have a fleet of Maybach limousines at her disposal, and has been surrounded by a squad of machine-gun toting security guards on visits to a Moscow cafe.

Kabaeva is one of the most decorated gymnasts in rhythmic gymnastic history, with 2 Olympic medals, 14 World Championship medals, and 25 European Championship medals.

Prof. Soludo’s Govt to distribute 1M palm seedlings to 100,000 farmers in Anambra

Anambra State governor elect, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has announced that his in-coming administration, as one of the ways of addressing the problem of poverty, will distribute over one million high yielding palm seedlings to 100,000 farmers in the state.

IMG 20220307 WA0002

This was contained in a statement issued by his media aide, Joe C Anatune. According to Anatune, each farmer will get 10 free seedlings that will start producing from 2 to 4 years. It is also estimated that in 4 years, the farmer would have gotten about 40 seedlings.

Anatune further noted that the programme will enable such household/farmer to escape from poverty and in the other hand, function as an empowerment programme not just for the farmers but thousands that will be involved in the value chain business.

The statement read, “Currently, 84% of global palm oil supply is shared between Indonesia and Malaysia. Nigeria, Columbia and others make up the remaining percentage. United States, China, India, EU and Pakistan are the biggest off takers. The global market value is 61.1 billion USA dollars. Apart from getting back to once again be a global player in this industry, Cee Cee Soludo wants to use the free distribution of high yielding Palm Seedlings to lift many households/farmers from the stranglehold of poverty.

“Soludo is guided in this by his belief that our greatness lies in our rich past. He is therefore picking up the pieces from where Dr. Michael Okpara’s administration stopped and his eyes are firmly focused on the entire value chain. So every year, his government will procure one million high yielding farm seedlings and distribute same free of charge to 100,000 farmers/households. Each farmer gets 10 free seedlings that start producing from 2- 4 years. It is estimated that in 4 years, the farmer would have gotten about 40 seedlings. This will adequately enable such household/farmer to escape from poverty. This will be an empowerment programme not just for the farmers but thousands that will be involved in the value chain business.

“Fortunately, palm oil demand continues to grow because it is the most versatile of all vegetable oils. Palm oil can be processed to a wide range of products with melting points, consistencies and characteristics. Global conglomerates such as Lever Brothers are noteable off takers of the products at the corporate level.

“However Quality consultant Mrs Ngozi Ekwueme counsels ,” as the seedlings are being distributed, the farmers should be trained on global gap requirements for safe crop. The ministry of Agriculture workers should also be trained to know what they should be doing in supervision. This will be able to make them keep track of all the fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals used in the plantation till havest time. This will ensure acceptance in the global market”

“The good news is that Soludo is rapidly demonstrating by his actions thus far that sound economics is excellent politics. So like the Anambra footwear industry, like the palm oil industry. More are coming our way as we journey to our Liveable and prosperous Anambra smart Megacity.”

#Russian commander is shot dead during battle in #Ukraine town

A leader of a rebel military group blamed for brutal war crimes since its formation in 2014, has been shot dead in Ukraine

Russian warlord Vladimir Zhoga, who headed the Neo-Nazi ‘Sparta Battalion’, was killed in Volnovakha, Ukraine, following the eleventh day of Russia’s invasion as Putin’s troops fail to make big wins.

Zhoga’s kill was yesterday confirmed in a Telegram channel post from Denis Pushilin, head of the breakaway DPR.

He wrote: ‘Today in Volnovakha, the commander of a separate reconnaissance battalion ‘Sparta’ of the Guard, Colonel Vladimir Zhoga, call sign Vokha, died heroically.

‘He was mortally wounded while ensuring the exit of civilians.

”Sparta’ covered the evacuation of civilians, mostly women and children. The Nazis opened fire on them…

‘I have signed a decree on conferring the title of Hero of the Donetsk People’s Republic on Vladimir Artemovich Zhoga posthumously.

‘He died a heroic death, just a little short of victory. But his feat brought it closer.

‘I express my sincere condolences to family and friends.

‘Rest in peace, Brother!’

Zhoga became the group’s leader in 2016 after his predecessor Arsen Pavlov died following an IED explosion in the lift of his apartment.

Pavlov was accused of several war crimes, and in 2015 the Kyiv Post shared audio of him, in a phone call with the news outlet, saying he shot ’15 prisoners dead’.

‘I don’t give a f**** about what I am accused of, believe it or not,’ he added. ‘I shot 15 prisoners dead. I don’t give a f****. No comment. I kill if I want to. I don’t if I don’t.’

What will happen if there is a nuclear war between #Russia & USA?

The picture of what nuclear war between two big boys of the exclusive club will look like

What will happen if the US and Russia engages in nuclear war with each other? Will Africa and other continents not part of the war be affected? Let’s check the list.

1. Within a week of the war, major cities in both US and Russia will be destroyed and 150 million tons of black smoke will enter the atmosphere.

2. It would rise into the stratosphere and lasting for years.

3. The black smokes absorbs sunlight preventing it from reaching the surface

4. 2 weeks after the war, as the smoke spreads around the globe, it gets dark and cold at the surface.

5. The sunlight that is absorbed by the smoke in the upper atmosphere heats it destroying the ozone layer.

6. This let’s dangerous ultra violet (UV) radiation to reach the surface. Even though some of the UV will be absorbed by the smoke, much more gets to the surface.

7. UV radiation destroys the DNA, the building blocks if life, which will lead to increased cases of cancer.

8. After two month, temperatures over continental land regions will plummet below freezing point and we will have nuclear winter.

9. Agriculture grinds to a halt and will not be possible for several years.

10. After two months mark, rainfall stops in every region of the earth and some falls as snow instead and this adds to the problem of agriculture.

11. After 4 months, famine begins as food storage starts to run dry. Cold, dark dry condition will prevent agriculture for many years.

12. After 2 years, most people on earth would have starved to death. A few people on coastline may survive on hunting/fishing gathering existence but they have to deal with cold and dark conditions and enhanced UV radiation.

13. The number of survivors will be extremely low. And most will be in the southern hemisphere far from the bombs l, surrounded by a warm ocean that will reduce the cooling.

14. After 4 years, temperatures slowly begin to rise, but will not be back to prewar conditions for another 20 years.

15. Rainfall also slowly begin to take place. Even 5 years after the war, skin cancer will continue to rise so is UV damage to plants.

16. It would take about 10 years for nature to begin to take over again. After 20 years, survivors will still have to stay away from highly radioactive areas.

17. All these can happen with the currently operational 4000 nuclear weapons in the US and Russian arsenals.

18. Even the use of just 100 nuclear weapons by any of the 9 nuclear nations, could produce climate change unprecedented in recorded human history and result in famines for billions of people.
