AWKA, ANAMBRA STATE – The Anambra State Police Command has announced the arrest of a 24-year-old female suspect, Somtochukwu Nwafor, in connection with the horrific murder of a pregnant nurse in Umueri village, Ogbunike, in the Oyi Local Government Area of the state. The victim’s mutilated body was reportedly buried in a soakaway pit, with some parts later sold to a native doctor.
According to information gathered by Tori Express, the prime suspect in the case, identified as Chiemerie Obika Elobisi, is currently on the run. Elobisi allegedly lured the pregnant nurse under the guise of seeking medical attention, after which he brutally killed the victim and buried her dismembered remains in a soakaway pit.
Confirming the development in a press statement on Wednesday, the spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that shocking details emerged during the investigation, including the revelation that some of the victim’s body parts were subsequently sold to a local native doctor in the area.
Ikenga further elaborated that the arrest of Somtochukwu Nwafor on July 25, 2025, was made possible through crucial intelligence provided by the vigilant residents of Umueri village, Ogbunike community. Following her arrest, suspected body parts of the victim were reportedly recovered at the native doctor’s shrine linked to the incident.
During interrogation, Nwafor reportedly confessed to being the girlfriend of the prime suspect, Chiemerie Obika Elobisi, who hails from the same village but remains at large.
The police command has assured the public that investigations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing prime suspect and bring all involved parties to justice for this heinous crime.
