A middle-aged woman and her five children have died after eating spoilt Danwake, a local Hausa delicacy in Karkari village, in Kano State.
The unfortunate incident happened on Thursday, August 15 at the home of the late Malam Abdulkarin.
A neighbour of the deceased, Garba Muhammad, told Daily Trust that due to the economic situation of the country, the widow who was the one catering for her five children used spoilt cassava flour to prepare the food.
All six family members died one after the other after consuming the food.
The deceased mother was identified as Alhakatu Abdulkarim while her kids are listed as Bashir, Firdausi, Hafsat, Usman and Jamilu.
Spokesman of the command in Kano state, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the six members of the family were rushed to Gwarzo General Hospital where they were confirmed dead by doctors.
