‘Do not interfere with our culture and treatment of women’ – Taliban spokesperson warns US

A Taliban spokesperson has warned the US not to interfere with Afghanistan culture even as the group will like to have a normal better relationship with the US following the militant group’s takeover of Afghanistan.

According to the Taliban “there will be no issue about women’s rights” despite widespread international concerns.

Speaking to Fox News on Friday, September 3, Suhail Shaheen said he opposes Western views that “women should have an education without [a] hijab.”

“That is a change of culture,… Our culture… they can receive education with hijab. They can work with hijab.”

When asked about future relations with the U.S., Shaheen said, “We should be focusing how can we work together in a positive and constructive way which is in the best of interest of both sides.”

“There will be no issue about the women’s rights. No problem about their education, their work,” he added. “But we should not be after changing each other’s culture as we are not intending to change your culture, you should not be changing our culture.”

Shaheen also described the U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan as the closure of one chapter in the country’s history.

“We have closed one chapter. For us it was occupation. We ended that, we were staging resistance,” he told Fox News. “But now it is closed. It is the past. We have to focus on the future that is better for them and for us.”

Shaheen’s comments came after reports emerged that a new interim government will be announced soon in Kabul.

A source close to the militant group told Reuters that the interim government would consist only of Taliban members, contain 25 ministries and a consultative council of a dozen Muslim scholars.

“R.Kelly gave me herpes and we secretly settled for $200,000” – Accuser tells court

A woman who testified at R. Kelly’s sex abuse trial on Friday September 3, claimed she reached a $200,000 settlement with the R&B singer after she contracted herpes.

The woman, who identified herself as Kate, took to the stand to testify against the world-famous R&B singer at his sex abuse trial in Brooklyn.

Kate claimed she was 27 when she met Kelly in 2001, and contracted herpes from him after they slept together. She told the court Kelly was tight-lipped when she later accused him of giving her the sexually transmitted disease.

Kate said she settled with the singer in 2004, and that the herpes diagnosis ‘greatly affected’ her ability to enter future relationships.

Her personal physician has also testified, saying he treated the star for herpes for several years.

Kelly’s lawyer Deveraux Cannick used his cross-examination to undercut earlier testimony that Kelly demanded that his girlfriends follow strict rules.

These rules have included needing Kelly’s permission to go to the bathroom, looking away from other men, and not talking about Kelly in his absence, several witnesses have testified.

Kate told Cannick that Kelly behaved differently around her, letting her go to the bathroom when she wanted and not making her wait around for him for long periods. She also said she helped him write down song lyrics.

Kelly, 54, whose full name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, has been on trial since Aug.18 for running an alleged decade-long racketeering scheme targeting women and girls for sex, with help from employees and assistants. He has pleaded not guilty.

US Capitol Riot: QAnon Shaman may be jailed for 20 years

A bare-chested “shaman” wearing horns and face paint who became one of the most infamous faces of the US Capitol insurrection, has pleaded guilty to felony.

The Arizona man identified as Jacob Anthony Chansley was caught on camera shirtless, carrying a spear and sporting a horned fur hat during the violence. It became one of the images synonymous with the infamous day and he also became known as the “QAnon Shaman”.

He pleaded guilty on Friday September 3, to obstructing a US congressional meeting and also admitted to “disorderly and disruptive conduct” when he obstructed congressional proceedings and threatened officials.

Chansley who has been a subscriber to QAnon, the far-right conspiracy theory blamed for fueling the unrest, had told the court he had “mental vulnerabilities,” although psychiatric professionals had certified Chansley was competent to stand trial before the case.

Defence lawyer of the insurrectionist who has already been in prison for 8 months before the plea, said on Friday September 3 that Chansley was disappointed that Trump did not pardon him.

US Capitol Riot: QAnon Shaman pleads guilty to felony

His lawyer Albert Watkins said the solitary confinement that Chansley faced for most of his time in jail has had an adverse effect on his mental health and that his time in Colorado helped him regain his sharpness.

Watkins who asked the court to be lenient as “Mr Chansley has zero criminal history”, also said Chansley expressed regret at what he had done and apologized to anyone he had scared throughout the unrest.  He also said his client has since repudiated the QAnon movement and asked that there be no more references to his past affiliations with the movement.

Chansley’s sentencing was scheduled for November 17 and he could face 41 to 51 months in prison, according to guidelines estimated by the prosecution.

Watkins had also reportedly asked for his client to be released from detention pending sentencing, a request US District Judge Royce Lamberth said will be considered.

Nearly 600 people have been arrested over the attack on the Capitol where Congress was meeting to certify Joe Biden’s November victory over Trump. Earlier, Trump had given a fiery speech falsely claiming his defeat was the result of fraud. Fifty others have pleaded guilty, mostly to misdemeanour charges of demonstrating in the Capitol.

Nigerian Govt. accusses IPOB of stockpiling weapons across the country

President Muhammadu Buhari has accused the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, of stockpiling weapons across Nigeria.

Buhari, who spoke through his mouthpiece, Garba Shehu, said IPOB members killed security agents and set government facilities in the Southeast ablaze.

He stated this in response to claims by the Amnesty International on human rights violation in the Southeast.

Shehu, in a statement issued on Wednesday, lamented that Amnesty International was defending IPOB which is a terrorist group.

He accused Amnesty International of backing a terrorist organisation against victims of IPOB.

The statement titled: “Why Amnesty entreaties should be ignored”, reads partly: “Amnesty International’s latest salvo at Nigeria is but more of the same.

“Again, they have decided to side with terrorists, before the liberty of those they injure, displace and murder.

“Parroting the line of Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB, a proscribed terror organisation, they work to legitimise its cause to Western audiences.

“This puts them in bad company. IPOB murder Nigerian citizens. They kill police officers and military personnel and set government property on fire.

“Now, they have amassed a substantial stockpile of weapons and bombs across the country.

“Were this group in a western country, you would not expect to hear Amnesty’s full-throated defence of their actions.”

IPOB’s call for the breakup of Nigeria had led to some members of the group allegedly resorting to civil disobedience.

Lately, attacks on security agents and facilities in the Southeast has been linked to IPOB and its militia arm, the Eastern Security Network, ESN.

Despite the connection, IPOB had severally denied any claims of its members attacking security agents and facilities in the Southeast.

IPOB had insisted that its members rely on peaceful approach in the push for Biafra.

“Maybe I should tell you that my husband works as a manager in an F*** company, he earns very well, we live in our own house and he has like 2 cars even before we married he was doing well.

“Days went on to weeks and then to months and yet my husband will not stop using protection. We have fought and fought but he keeps knowing how to maneuver his way through and tell me he wants us to have enough time to prepare before having children.

“At a point I started getting used to him using protection, but its already 5 years now and my husband will not stop using protection. One day even had to ask him that hope he doesn’t have an STD or something like a disease, he got angry and said No.

Bamidele Muraina, Online Scammer, sentenced to 70months in jail over $2.6m fraud in the U.S

A Nigerian man named Bamidele Muraina has been sentenced to 70 months in prison over $2.6m fraud in the U.S.

35-year-old Bamidele, better known as Dele Ewe, was also ordered by a U.S. court to pay $561,125.62 in restitution.

His conspirator, Gabriel Kalembo, 33, of Zambian, was sentenced to 50 months in prison and ordered to pay $298,008.71 in restitution.

A statement released by the U.S Justice Department said, “Bamidele Muraina, a Nigerian national who hacked into tax preparation firms and filed fraudulent unemployment benefit claims and tax returns using stolen personally identifiable information, and Gabriel Kalembo, a previously convicted fraudster who laundered the fraudulent assets, have been sentenced to federal prison.”

Acting U.S. Attorney Kurt R. Erskine said: “These defendants stole funds from programs meant to assist American workers and families seeking to make ends meet during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The collaborative efforts of our law enforcement partners were essential to disrupting a sophisticated network of criminals and bringing their leaders to justice.”

Bamidele Muraina engaged in a conspiracy to defraud the Employment Security Department of Washington State (“ESD-WA”) by filing dozens of fraudulent unemployment insurance (UI) claims in the names of identity theft victims who were not entitled to such benefits.

As part of the same conspiracy, Gabriel Kalembo and his conspirators laundered the unlawfully obtained UI benefits from ESD-WA by purchasing and then later negotiating hundreds of money orders.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney Erskine, Bamidele Muraina was a Nigerian national residing in the metro Atlanta area at the time of his offenses.

Between at least January 29, 2018, and continuing through approximately April 2020, Muraina hacked into multiple tax preparation and accounting firms located in several states, including a Brunswick, Georgia-based accounting firm.

Muraina obtained access to the firms’ accounts with a national tax preparation program, stole personally identifiable information from their clients, and filed more than 275 fraudulent individual income tax returns in their names via the Internet.

In total, Muraina’s fraudulent tax returns using stolen identities sought refunds from the IRS exceeding $2.6 million from 2018 through 2020.

Between May 9, 2020, and May 16, 2020, Muraina used stolen personally identifiable information from Washington residents to submit false claims for unemployment insurance benefits in Washington.

Muraina’s false claims exploited a federal COVID-19 pandemic relief program created by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which expanded eligibility for unemployment benefits and provided an additional unemployment benefit of $600 per week.

Based on Muraina’s fraudulent claims submitted in the names of approximately fifty Washington residents over a one-week span, the State of Washington issued more than $280,000 in unemployment benefits.

Muraina directed fraudulent funds from his unemployment benefits scheme and tax fraud scheme to be deposited into bank accounts set up by co-conspirators, including Gabriel Kalembo, who was convicted in 2017 of conspiracy to commit wire and bank fraud in the Northern District of Georgia.

Kalembo recruited Zambian nationals to travel to the United States on tourist visas to incorporate sham corporations in Georgia and open business bank accounts in the names of those corporations.

After the fraudulent funds were deposited into those accounts, Kalembo laundered the funds by cashing money orders purchased with debit cards linked to the accounts.

Bamidele Muraina, 35, of Oyo, Nigeria was sentenced by U.S. District Judge William M. Ray II to five years and ten months in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release, and he ordered Muraina to pay $561,125.62 in restitution.

Gabriel Kalembo, 33, of Atlanta, Georgia was sentenced by Judge Ray to four years and two months in prison to be followed by two years of supervised release, and he ordered Kalembo to pay $298,008.71 in restitution.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Secret Service, the Department of Labor Office of Inspector General, the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation, the Department of Homeland Security-Homeland Security Investigations, and the United States Postal Inspection Service.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Nathan P. Kitchens, Chief of the Public Integrity and Special Matters Section, Sarah E. Klapman, and Lauren T. Macon are prosecuting the case.

Afghanistan: Taliban and anti-Taliban group engage in heavy gunfire last night

On Thursday night, September 2, heavy clashes occured around Afghanistan’s northern Panjshir Valley between Taliban fighters and an anti-Taliban group, according to a source within the group.

Panjshir Valley, a mountainous, inaccessible region north of Kabul, is the last major stronghold holding out against Taliban rule, and has a long history of resisting the insurgent group.

For the past four decades the NRF has rebuffed advances by the British Empire’s army, Soviet forces and the Taliban.

But following the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, with the exception of the Panjshir region that is controlled by the NRF, the Taliban advanced into the region on Thursday night.

The Taliban have been massing forces in and around Panjshir province in recent weeks, and said on Monday they had captured three districts in the valley.

But the NRF said Thursday’s overnight clashes between the Taliban and the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRF) were very intense.

“They (Taliban) are using their last power to get in, but clashes are still ongoing,” an NRF source said .

Earlier on Thursday, Fahim Dashti, an NRF spokesperson, said in an audio message that the Taliban lost 40 of their forces in their ongoing attempts to enter Panjshir. Ali Nazary, another spokesperson from the group, said Thursday that the Taliban had also lost a number of heavy equipment and weaponry that had been destroyed.

Current NRF leader

On Wednesday, a Taliban leader called on Panjshiris to accept an amnesty and avoid fighting, but acknowledged that negotiations had thus far yielded no result. He said the situation “should be resolved peacefully,” but did not directly address the claims of renewed fighting and casualties.

After the USSR, which controlled Kabul  in the 1980s, withdrew from Afghanistan in 1989, various factions of Islamic holy warriors split into groups, fighting for control of the country.

The Northern Alliance also known as the NRF was soon formed and led by Ahmad Shah Massoud.

Massoud led an anti-Taliban offensive until he was assassinated by al Qaeda operatives two days before the September 11, 2001 attacks.

The NRF, is now led by Massoud’s son, Ahmad Massoud, who has vowed to continue the fight against the Taliban in the wake of their near takeover of Afghanistan.

People fleeing the Taliban, including the former Afghan Vice President, Amrullah Saleh, have also sought refuge in the Valley.

North Korea’s Kim Jong-un summons for climate change actions

North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un has highlighted the danger of climate change while calling on his government officials to deal with food supply issues in the secretive state.

Weeks of drought followed by heavy monsoon rains have damaged crops this year in the country while last year Typhoons badly impacted vital crops.

Making a speech to the ruling party’s Politburo on Thursday, September 2,  Kim said measures to overcome “abnormal climate” were needed, and ordered his officials to tackle drought and floods.

Kim had said that the “danger” of climate change had become “higher in recent years adding that “urgent action” needed to be taken.

“River improvement, afforestation for erosion control, dyke maintenance and tide embankment projects”, should be prioritised.

Apart from the damage caused by natural disasters, North Korea’s economy has been hit hard by international sanctions, as well as border closures and harsh lockdowns to prevent the spread of Covid.

Although North Korea has not reported any Covid cases, it has sealed its borders and imposed lockdowns.

“Tightening epidemic prevention is the task of paramount importance which must not be loosened even a moment under the present situation,” said Mr Kim, according to state media.

This announcement comes after the UN said North Korea had rejected an offer of almost three million Covid-19 jabs.

Princess Charlene of Monaco gets infection in South Africa, rushed to a nearby hospital

Princess Charlene of Monaco is in a stable condition after being rushed to a hospital following a collapse at her South African lodge on Wednesday night.

The royal, 43, was admitted to the Netcare Alberlito Hospital after the ‘medical emergency’ caused by complications from an infection she contracted in May.

A foundation set up in her name said in a statement on Friday: ‘Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco was rushed to hospital by ambulance late on Wednesday night after collapsing due to complications from the severe ear, nose and throat infection she contracted in May.

‘Her medical team is currently evaluating her but have confirmed the princess is stable.’

The hospital refused to confirm what procedures or checks were carried out citing confidentiality legislation, but a source said she had been admitted as a VIP patient and treated on a separate floor to other patients.

Charlene was last seen in Monaco in January and has been in her home country of South Africa for months.

In May, she fell ill with a ‘serious sinus infection’ and two weeks ago she underwent a ‘four-hour operation under general anaesthesia’.

The palace said at the time: “During a trip to the African continent as part of a wildlife conservation mission, Princess Charlene contracted an ENT infection that does not allow her to travel.”

Charlene was first seen in South Africa back in March this year as she attended the funeral of Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini kwaBhekuzulu in Nongoma, KwaZulu-Natal.

She was born in Zimbabwe but grew up in South Africa after her family moved there in 1989.

The former Olympic swimmer also stayed in the nation to raise awareness around rhino poaching.

She was meant to return to Monaco to make an appearance at the Monaco F1 Grand Prix in Monte Carlo on May 23.

Queen Elizabeth’s funeral secret plans leaked

Secret plans for funeral of Queen Elizabeth II is reportedly being made ahead of her death.

Leaked documents obtained by Politico titled ‘Operation London Bridge’, also revealed official concerns over how to cope with the strain of people that might flood to the capital.

It is speculated that the death of UK’s longest serving monarch, will trigger 11 days of official events, including the accession to the throne of Prince Charles, culminating in a state funeral. Vast crowds are expected to descend on the capital to see the Queen lying in state before a Westminster Abbey service.

Though it is unclear if the documents represent the most up-to-date arrangements as plans for the Queen’s passing change regularly, the confidential papers however said the Prime Ministers will be informed first and make a statement to the nation.

Members of the Privy Council Office will also be informed, as will ministers and senior politicians and civil servants.

Prince Charles who will be proclaimed king the following day, will speak to the country a few hours after the Prime Minister.

According to the plans, the late sovereign”s coffin will lie in state for three days at the Houses of Parliament, with authorities anticipating hundreds of thousands of people to descend on London – sparking fears over gridlock, policing and even food shortages.

There will be a supposedly “spontaneous” service at St Paul’s Cathedral, according to Politico, and the new King Charles will tour the four nations of the United Kingdom in the days after her death.

The British prime minister and the monarch are said to be in agreement that the day of her state funeral will be a day of national mourning. It will effectively be a holiday, although not described as such.

Thoughh Buckingham Palace officials have declined to comment, either on the leak or the plans, The Guardian in 2017 published a long article revealing details about Operation London Bridge, which covered how the new King Charles will be proclaimed at St James’s Palace amid visiting royalty.

The Queen has reigned since February 1952, and is now 95. There is no indication that the Queen is in poor health, and plans for her funeral have not been urgently revised recently, it is understood.

‘Fulani Herdsmen have become a menace’ – Bishop Oyedepo declares (video)

Senior Pastor of the Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo, has said that Fulani herdsmen have become a menace in Nigeria and that he knows that they are being sponsored.

His statement comes even as herders under the Miyetti Allah Kauta Hore have said they will not recognize the Southern governors’ anti-grazing policy, describing it as ‘satanic.’

Oyedepo while preaching in his church recently, said the last five years from 2015 till now has been the worst in the history of Nigeria.

”Fulani herdsmen have become a menace. They are sponsored. I know it. There are things you think you know that God shows to prophets. The things they are calling findings now, I found it longest time. You don’t need intelligence antenna as a Prophet to find it.

I saw this government coming in with a bloodthirsty cloth and I cried.

The worst time in the history of Nigeria is 2015 to now and it is getting worse day by day.

The end has finally come.

Apart from us in the Jesus family, many have never had a smile in the last five years on our street. We don’t have records so we don’t know how many have committed suicide.”

The clergyman dismissed insinuations that he has been speaking because he is interested in running for Presidency

”If they dash me presidency, I wouldn’t take it. I knew that 1984, not now. I am not talking about Presidency. It is not an area I am called to. It is a very great office. It is not my calling.”

… and the Taliban closest ally is ‘China’ !

Taliban officials have declared China as their closest ally in the international community.

The militants say Beijing is “ready to invest in and reconstruct” Afghanistan and describe the nation as their “principal partner”.

Zabihulla Mujahid, the spokesman for the group,  stated the Chinese would help to revive Afghan copper mining. He also praised the Chinese for their One Belt One Road investment project which has forged forward despite criticism from western countries.

China is one of the few countries which did not evacuate staff from their Kabul embassy in the wake of the Taliban’s takeover.

It was also been reported that a Taliban delegation visited China in July for talks with the foreign minister Wang Yi, in Tianjin.

Mr. Mujahid told the Italian newspaper La Repubblica: “China is our principal partner and for us represents a fundamental and extraordinary opportunity because it’s ready to invest in and reconstruct our country.

“We hold in high regard the One Belt One Road project that will serve to revive the ancient Silk Road.

“Beyond that, we have rich copper mines which thanks to the Chinese can be brought back into production and modernised.

“China represents our passport towards the markets of the whole world.”

His comments come after  Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab declared that Britain won’t be “recognising the Taliban at any time in the foreseeable future.”

But he said there was a need for “direct engagement” with the group, to ensure UK nationals and Afghan allies could leave Afghanistan.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson reiterated the message, adding that if the Taliban wanted to engage with the West then “the first priority for them for us is safe passage for those who want to leave”.

Raab also said that evacuation flights from Afghanistan could resume “in the near future” after talks with leaders in Qatar.

R. Kelly accuser accused him of coercing her to give him oral sex

Another accuser has testified that R. Kelly allegedly kept a gun by his side as the singer forced her to give him oral sex in a Los Angeles music studio.

The witness, who took the stand and was identified only as ‘Faith’, testified about her alleged terrifying encounter with the singer when she was 19, during his trafficking trial in a New York federal court on Wednesday.

Faith, who is R Kelly’s  6th alleged victim said during her fourth trip to meet up with Kelly in 2018, he took her into a small room of a Los Angeles music studio, and when she noticed a gun by his side he told her ‘don’t look at it.’

She then testified that Kelly, 54, began inquiring about her sexual history, asking her ‘how many men have you seen naked?’ and warned her if she lied ‘there would be an issue.’

The witness then testified that Kelly made he strip and perform oral sex on him against her will.

‘He had a weapon, so I wasn’t going to step out of line,’ she said as to why she went through with the sexual act.

Afterwards, she said Kelly told her ‘he likes a woman that reminds him of a puppy, his daughter or his mom, and added, ‘I still have a lot to teach you.’

She testified the last time she saw Kelly at a New York City hotel suite, she resisted having sex with him. She said he responded by warning her not to defy him, saying, ‘I’m a f–ing legend.’

Shortly after the latest incident, she said she ended the year-long relationship.

Kelly, who denies all the charges against him, was visibly uncomfortable – shaking his head, and touching his face when Faith described resisting sex with him, the New York Times reported.

He also visibly reacted when she testified that Kelly masturbated while watching a video he had made of different women he told her he was ‘raising’ by putting his head down and rubbing his head, the Times added.

Kelly’s alleged intimidation tactics were all part of an abusive sexual relationship that started when the woman was 19 and resulted in her getting herpes from him, she said.

A statement released by Wilson Uwujaren, spokesperson of the antigraft agency, said the Judge gave the order on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, following an ex parte application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on August 17, 2021.

The funds, investigation showed, were domiciled in 24 different banks in Nigeria, including Citi Bank Limited; Ecobank Nigeria Limited; First Bank of Nigeria Plc; First City Monument Bank (FCMB); Globus Bank Limited; Fidelity Bank Plc; Keystone Bank Limited; Lotus Bank Limited and Mainstreet Bank Plc.

Moving the application, counsel to the EFCC, Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, told the court that 15 persons, as well as 22 firms, were used by Atuche and his co-respondent, Ugo Anyanwu, a former Chief Financial Officer of the bank, to launder the funds.

Pinheiro listed the individuals to include Anthony Atuche, Emeka Patrick Atuche, Paul Okobi, Felix Oyiana, Moruf Kazeem Adisa, Olatunji Abiodun, Daniel Enebeli, Aina Olugbenga, Augustine Nwabueze, Omonua Benedict, Oliver King Nduaaron, Dr. Chris Ike Ogbechie, Mr. Murat Bektaslar, Attah Omataikpo Olukemi and Thomas Etuh.

The EFCC counsel further stated that the firms, in which Atuche has either direct or indirect interest are: Aqua Harvest Limited, Hubmart Stores Limited, Hubmart Limited, Sapphire Capital Management Limited, Homeland Real Estate Company Limited, Malechi Foods Limited, Homeland Meridian Partners Limited, Promise Investment Limited and Temple Cottage Hotel Limited.

Others are: Wegas Properties Project Limited, Buckhead Construction Limited, Claremount Management Services Limited, Afco Associates Limited, Platinum Capital Limited, Ghazali Yakubu Investment Limited, The Financial (Services) Company Limited, Venture Resources Limited, Elizabeth-A Company Limited, Signature Partners Limited, Purplepay Technologies Limited, Oakwood Asset Management Limited and Conesto Nigeria Limited.

Justice Okunnu granted the 12 prayers of the applicant and held that “An order is made restraining the 1st defendant (Atuche) whether by himself, or acting through the persons or entities listed or such other persons including but not limited to his family members or agents, from removing, alienating, disposing of, dealing with or diminishing the value of assets, proceeds of economic and financial crimes or otherwise in the name of the 1st defendant.”

The Judge also held that “the assets or funds included those held indirectly by or for Atuche’s benefit, whether solely or jointly held, that are located in Nigeria or worldwide.”

Justice Okunnu further ordered the freezing of any bank account being run and operated by Atuche “personally or jointly, whether in his personal name or otherwise or with the Bank Verification Number (BVN) 22295357230 in any of the respondent banks to the tune of N19, 178, 253, 050 billion, pursuant to the Restitution Order made by this Honourable Court on June 16, 2021.”

Atuche and his privies, including his lawyers, were also barred from presenting to the above listed banks “any mandate or instruction for the withdrawal of any money and/or funds standing to the credit of any of their accounts to the tune of N19, 178, 253. 050 billion.”

Justice Okunnu, who also restrained the banks from honouring any such instruction from Atuche and his privies, further held that “ A mandatory order of injunction is made directing the named respondent banks to file within 48 hours of service of this Order of this Honourable Court on them returns of the Statements of Account of the 1st Defendant (personally or jointly) whether in his personal name or otherwise or with the Bank Verification Number: 22295357230 and the accounts of persons and entities listed in the afore mentioned Schedules A and B maintained with them.

“A further order is made directing service of the Order made herein on persons affected thereby including, in particular, the persons and entities listed in Schedules A and B. by way of advertisement in either The Punch or Thisday or The Guardian newspaper.”

Justice Okunnu had, in June this year, sentenced Atuche to six years imprisonment and Anyanwu four years for stealing and conspiracy to steal to the tune of N25.7bn.

The judge, while sentencing the duo, had ordered them to make a restitution of the sum of N25.7bn to the Federal Government to replace the funds stolen from the public to bail out the bank.

Dr. Dre sues estrange wife Nicole Young for theft

Dr. Dre is taking his ex-wife Nicole Young to court for a fresh case after filing a lawsuit accusing her of ’embezzling’ funds from his recording studio business.

The 56-year-old rapper and producer is suing Young, 51, for allegedly taking money out of accounts for his Recording One music studio in Los Angeles’ Sherman Oaks neighborhood, according to legal filings obtained by The Blast.

Dre’s lawsuit was filed after the judge overseeing his divorce ordered him in July to pay nearly $300,000 per month to his ex in spousal support for the foreseeable future.

The legal filings indicate that Recording One was formed in 2015 to operate as a recording studio.

Both Dre (who was born Andre Young) and his then-wife were in charge of ‘maintenance and control’ of the studio assets, and Recording One claims that Young was in charge of writing charges and transferring money for the business.

The studio contends that she ‘decimated’ its bank accounts by withdrawing $353,571.85 in the early stages of her divorce from from Dre, which she filed for in June of 2020.

Amid the divorce proceedings, she was removed from the studio’s trust. In its filing, the studio argues that Young ‘egregiously’ failed to uphold her fiduciary interest by ’embezzling and stealing money from (the company’s) bank account, and using the money for her own, personal obligations.’

Young could find herself in serious legal trouble if the studio’s allegations are found to be true.

The business accuses her of violating Penal Code 496, which states: ‘Every person who buys or receives any property that has been stolen or that has been obtained in any manner constituting theft or extortion, knowing the property to be stolen or obtained, or who conceals, sells, withholds, or aids in concealing, selling, or withholding any property from the owner… shall be punished by imprisonment in county jail for not more than one year.’

Back in October, TMZ reported that the Los Angeles Police Department was investigating Young for the withdrawals, though she claims that she had a right to withdraw the funds because her name was on the account.

Young filed to divorce Dre in June 2020, citing irreconcilable differences after 24 years of marriage. The estranged couple, who both got married on May 25, 1996, have two adult children together: son Truice and daughter Truly.

Nigeria loses N220.36bn due to Twitter ban

The Nigerian Communications Commission has said the Twitter ban in Nigeria is still in effect as the commission is yet to recieve the green light from the Ministry of Information to lift the ban.

This was disclosed by the Director, Public Affairs, Nigerian Communications Commission, Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde.

The NCC had sent a memo to Mobile Network Operators and Internet Service Providers to block access to Twitter for the ban imposed by the Federal Government to take effect.

This comes after some Nigerians had on Wednesday September 1, reported gaining access to the app without Virtual Private Networks on their laptops.

It was gathered that the reported access to Twitter had only been on Internet Service Providers networks, and not through the mobile networks.

A source in an ISP company told Punch, “The way blocking works when it comes to the network is, a specific site or server or URL will be put under a blacklist. Or an instruction will be given to block traffic going to or coming from a certain server. So, a router that sits in between serves as a blockade rather than work as a go through; it will block it.

“Depending on the technology deployed, there might be loopholes. A problem could be as regards implementation. It can create a loophole, a human error.”

The Federal Government indefinitely banned Twitter on June 4, days after the microblogging site deleted a tweet by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), which violated its rules.

The Federal Government had since told a Federal High Court in Lagos that it had not stopped Nigerians from using Twitter.

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who is the head of a committee set up to negotiate with Twitter recently announced that the committee negotiating with Twitter would soon arrive at an agreement.

He had said, “Everything will be ironed out with Twitter within a few days or weeks.”

One of the conditions set by the government for lifting the ban is that Twitter should register with the Companies and Allied Matters Act, and establish a physical presence in Nigeria.

According to Statista, Nigeria has about 33 million active social media users, with about 26 percent on Twitter.  Since the ban began, Nigeria has lost N220.36bn. This figure was calculated based on the NetBlocks Cost of Shutdown Tool.

The report said it costs Nigeria’s economy N103.17m ($250,600) every hour to ban Twitter. It has been 2,136 hours since the FG banned Twitter.

Ex. WCW Wrestler, Daffney Unger found dead after posting horrifying video

Former WCW champion, Daffney Unger has been found dead following a desperate search by her friends after she posted a disturbing Instagram live video, where she was seen holding a pistol.

The wrestler, known as the Scream Queen, was found dead at her residence in Norcross, a small city northeast of Atlanta, on Thursday morning, September 2, from an apparent suicide, according to close friend and fellow pro wrestler Lexie Fyfe.

‘She was found very early this morning,’ a tearful Fyfe told the New York Daily News.

Unger had posted a livestream video to Instagram on Wednesday night where she appeared distressed. ‘Do you guys not understand that I’m all alone? Do you not understand that?’ she said.

She later could be heard in the footage saying, ‘Remember, my brain goes to Boston.’

The disturbing footage sparked a desperate search for her whereabouts by friends and law enforcement.

Retired pro wrestler Mick Foley posted a tweet, asking people to help out if they knew where Unger was.

‘If anyone has a way of reaching Daffney Unger, or knows her address, please help out. She’s in a bad personal place and is threatening to harm herself. My phone call went straight to voicemail,’ Foley tweeted.

Sean Ross Sapp, the managing editor of popular wrestling website Fightful.com, later tweeted: ‘Her family have been reached, and have her current address. She’d moved in the past couple of weeks. Police have been dispatched.’

The Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Unger’s death to TMZ on Thursday.

Aubrey Causey, an investigator for the Gwinnett County medical examiner, didn’t reveal the details of Unger’s death but said it likely happened on Wednesday night.

Foley wrote in a new tweet on Thursday: ‘I’m so very sorry to learn of Daffney’s passing. A terrible loss for her family, friends and wrestling. She was far ahead [of] her time in our business. #RIPDaffney’.

Fyfe posted: ‘This last act, I don’t want it to define her. She would always want people to reach out for help and to check in on those they’re worried about. We’re going to miss her.’

Unger, whose real name is Shannon Claire Spruill, debuted in World Championship Wrestling in 1999, as she was known as David Flair’s girlfriend at the time, who is the son of the famous, former wrestling world champion Ric Flair.

She rose to fame after winning the WCW Cruiserweight title in May 2000 and later performed for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, at one point playing the role of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

Eduardo Camaving sign €40m deal with Real Madrid

Real Madrid football club of Spain have confirmed the capture of Rennes midfielder, Eduardo Camavinga on a six-year deal worth €40 million (£34m/$47m) .

The France international makes the swap from Rennes to the Santiago Bernabeu in a deal that will last till 2027.

Camavinga move comes as reports emerge of a late Real Madrid €220m move for Kylian Mbappe, after PSG snubbed previous offers. Camavinga is 18 years old and was born in Angola.

Last year, he became the youngest person to be called up to the France national team at senior level since 1932 and won three caps for Didier Deschamps’ side.

Elizabeth Holmes, ex. Billionaire, facing 20 years in prison for fraud

An entrepreneur once dubbed the ‘world’s youngest female self-made billionaire’ faces two decades in prison as she awaits a fraud trial.

Elizabeth Holmes, 37, is accused of lying to patients and investors of her medical tech start-up, Theranos, which at one point was valued at £6.6billion.

Theranos promised to run hundreds of medical tests using a single drop of blood using its technology, but it never lived up to expectations, and may never have worked at all.

Holmes is alleged to have overhyped claims about the company’s financial performance, before it went bust in 2018.

Her major investors included Rupert Murdoch, who put in $121million and the Walmart’s Walton family, who invested $150million (£109million).

More than $700million (£500million) was put in altogether by venture capitalists, but this proved to be totally worthless when the company collapsed.

Holmes started promoting her product from 2013, when she was just 29 years old, and she ended up on the covers of business magazines such as Forbes, Fortune and Inc.

The college dropout’s black turtleneck led to her being compared to the late Apple boss Steve Jobs.

She gained such a reputation she was even appointed as a presidential ambassador for global entrepreneurship by Barack Obama.

Holmes’ medical tech start-up, Theranos, quickly lost steam after revelations that its “breakthrough: blood-testing machine, “Edison,” didn’t work as Holmes had described. It was shown to produce dangerously inaccurate results in tests run for actual patients.

However, Holmes is expected to testify that some of her statements and actions were the result of abuse inflicted by the company’s chief operating officer and her secret lover, Ramesh ‘Sunny’ Balwani, 56.

She will claim her former partner controlled what she wore, what she ate and when she slept.

Her lawyers argue she believed everything about her technology to be true but that Balwani’s “manipulation” impaired her judgement.

Balwani is facing multiple fraud charges in a separate trial and his lawyers have denied Holmes’s allegations, branding them “outrageous, salacious and inflammatory”.

Twitter content creators can now make money from subscriptions

Twitter’s long-promised “Super Follows” feature that lets creators sell subscriptions for access to special content, was launched on Wednesday September 1.

The feature, first revealed in February, will allow users to subscribe to accounts they like for a monthly subscription fee in exchange for exclusive content. For creators, Super Follows are another useful tool in the emerging patchwork of monetization options across social platforms.

The aim of the new feature is to make the social media platform become the preferred online venue for clickable stars and to boost Twitter’s income in ways that don’t clutter the platform up with ads or promotions.

Eligible accounts can set the price for Super Follow subscriptions, with the option of charging $2.99, $4.99 or $9.99 per month, prices fairly comparable to a paid newsletter. They can then choose to mark some tweets for subscribers only, while continuing to reach their unpaid follower base in regular tweet.

Paid subscribers will be marked with a special Super Follower badge, differentiating them from unpaid followers in the sea of tweets. The badge shows up in replies, elevating a follower’s ability to interact directly with accounts they opt to support. For accounts that have Super Follows turned on, the option will show up with a distinct button on the profile page.

U.S. and Canada-based iOS Twitter users will be able to Super Follow some accounts, with more users globally seeing the rollout in the coming weeks. On the creator side, Super Follows are only enabled in iOS for now, though support for Android and desktop are “coming soon.”

People who don’t have the Super Follows feature can apply for a waitlist under the monetization tab in the Twitter app.

To be eligible, people need to have at least 10,000 followers, be at least 18 years old, have tweeted 25 times in the last 30 days, be in the US, and comply with Twitter’s Super Follows policy.

Twitter says that Super Follow income will be subject to the standard, though controversial, 30% in-app purchase fees collected by Apple or Google. Twitter will only take a 3% cut of earnings for up to the first $50,000 generated through Super Follows — a boon for smaller accounts getting off the ground or anyone who uses the paid Twitter feature as a way to supplement other creator income elsewhere. After an account hits the $50,000 earnings mark, Twitter will begin taking a 20% cut.

This isn’t the social media platform’s first monetization experiment. In May, Twitter introduced Tip Jar, a way for accounts to receive one-time payments through integration with the Cash App and other payment platforms. The test is limited to a subset of eligible accounts including “creators, journalists, experts, and nonprofits” for the time being.

Last week Twitter rolled out Ticketed Spaces for users who applied for the paid audio room feature back in June. Twitter’s cut from Ticketed Spaces mirrors the same fee structure it uses for Super Follows and users will be able to charge anywhere from one dollar to $999 for advanced ticketing.

Through his new music, Kanye West hints at cheating on Kim Kardashian

Kanye West has sparked speculation he cheated on his estranged wife Kim Kardashian after the birth of their first two children.

Kanye’s album, Donda, was released on Sunday, August 29, and the track, Hurricane, has got people talking because of its lyrics which allude to him confessing his infidelity.

Kanye rapped: “Here I go actin’ too rich / Here I go with a new chick / And I know what the truth is / Still playin’ after two kids / It’s a lot to digest when your life always movin”.

One source told PageSix: “The song is in a way his testimony of everything he did wrong and taking accountability for their marriage breakdown.”

PageSix quoted another source as saying: “If you look closer to the lyrics he is referring to his infidelity during his marriage with Kim, even after two kids.”

Hurricane also appears to detail a California home Kim and Kanye purchased in 2014, that was featured in Architectural Digest, with West rapping: “Architectural Digest, but I needed home improvement / Sixty-million-dollar home, never went home to it.”

Kim Kardashian took to her Instagram Stories to reveal she was listening to Hurricane by sharing a screenshot.

Kanye also appeared to hint that Kim cheated on him in another track titled “Lord I Need You”.

He rapped: “Three hours to get back from Palm Springs, huh? / Who you know spend an hour in Walgreens, huh?”

Kim’s mother Kris Jenner owns a home in Palm Springs where the whole family have been seen on numerous occasions.

Recall that Kanye once famously accused Kim of meeting with rapper Meek Mill behind his back in a series of bizarre tweets published to Twitter in 2020. He added that he’s been trying to divorce her since then.

North Korea rejects offer of over 3 million Covid-19 vaccines from China

The United Nations has revealed that North Korea has rejected almost three million Covid-19 jabs offered to it.

A spokesperson of the UN said the country had asked that the vaccines be relocated to harder hit nations in view of global vaccine shortages.

Under the Covax programme which aims to help poorer nations obtain vaccines, Chinese-made Sinovac vaccines were offered to North Korea.

But North Korea claims not to have recorded any cases of the disease recently. The country was one of the first countries to close its borders last year.

As of 19 August, North Korea had recorded no cases of Covid-19, the World Health Organization (WHO) says.

Some 37,291 people – including health care workers and those with flu-like illnesses – had been tested and all were found to be negative, the WHO said in its weekly situation report.

This isn’t the first time the country has rejected vaccines. In July, it rejected shipments of around two million doses of the AstraZeneca jab, citing concerns over potential side effects, a South-Korean think-tank associated with the country’s intelligence service said.

Woman divorces husband for refusing to take Covid-19 vaccine

A South African lady has filed for divorce from her husband of 18 years after he refused to get a COVID-19 vaccine.

Recounting how her husband, Graham Spies’ health deteriorated after he contracted COVID-19 in 2020, Charnelle told News24 that she wasted no time in getting vaccinated as soon as she was eligible.

She stated that if he won’t get the jab, she doesn’t see why she she should continue to live with him since he won’t protect himself and the people around him.

Charnelle said;

“Graham contracted Covid-19 last year and watching him deteriorate in front of me is something I don’t wish on any human.

“The virus attacked his lungs. He is also asthmatic, which made his breathing even more difficult. Seeing him leave the hospital last year, after he had recovered, was like witnessing a real-life miracle.

“I won’t compromise on my health – it is non-negotiable. I told Graham since last year that if he refuses to get the jab, I don’t see how I can continue to live with someone that won’t protect himself and the people around him.”

Graham on his own part, said not getting the vaccine was his personal decision. He said;

“I believe in science, to a certain extent. I don’t want to be used as a guinea pig for vaccinations. There is no 100% guarantee it works.”

He also said that he was “quite disappointed” that after all the disagreements they have had over the past two decades, the vaccine would be the reason for their divorce.

Graham added;

“This is not how I envisioned my marriage would end. Yes, we had our differences. We are not perfect. But, at the end of the day, we have to do what’s right for our mental health.”

The Cape Town couple who tied the knot in 2003 and currently have no children, have since sold their property and are in the process of relocating to different cities for work.

Charnelle said;

Under no circumstances will I be putting my unborn kids’ lives in danger. We spoke about this numerous times. I said I will not bear his kids if he does not get vaccinated. It blows my mind that the man I’ve known my entire life is willing to throw all our future plans away just because he chooses to not get the vaccine. It’s madness.

The couple will be signing their annulment papers on 22 September.

£27M EuroMillions winner who said win ‘destroyed her life’ is found dead

Margaret Loughrey, the EuroMillions winner who said her £27million win 8 years ago ‘destroyed her life’, has been found dead.

Belfast Live reported that emergency services were called to Loughrey’s home in Ballycolman area of Strabane, Northern Ireland around 10.30am this morning.

Police said they are not treating the death of Margaret Loughrey who lived alone as “suspicious”, but a post mortem will be carried out to determine the cause.

EuroMillions winner who said ?27million win ?destroyed her life? is found dead

A Police Service of Northern Ireland spokesperson said;

“Police received a report of the sudden death of a woman at the Ballycolman Lane area of Strabane on Thursday 2nd September.

“A post mortem is due to take place but at this stage, the death is not being treated as suspicious.”

Ms Loughrey, who was unemployed, bought her winning ticket on the way home from the Job Centre in 2013. She matched five numbers and two lucky stars to win £26,863,588 in 2013 – the largest ever jackpot won in Northern Ireland at the time.

Despite her huge win, Loughrey continued to live in her home town and vowed to “spread” the cash around.

She said earlier;

“No point having £27million and being lonely. That can’t make me happy, that can only make me happy that everybody else’s happy and so far everybody is absolutely delighted.”

After her big win, Loughrey splashed out on a string of properties – including a pub, houses and a mill.

The jackpot however caused her life to spiral and in 2015, she was ordered to carry out 150 hours of community service after being convicted of assaulting a taxi driver. Three years later, she had to pay £30,000 to a former employee for bullying and firing him on a “vindictive whim”.

Margaret later said the win had “sent her to hell and back” even though she was living on benefits and unemployed at the time. She also claimed she was left with just £5million in 2019 and said she had been targeted by thieves.

She said;

“Money has brought me nothing but grief. It has destroyed my life.

“I have had six years of this. I don’t believe in religion, but if there is a hell, I have been in it. It has been that bad. I went down to five-and-a-half stone.”

Wow! Cristiano Ronaldo breaks Ali Daei’s international scoring record

Cristiano Ronaldo has broken Ali Daei’s 15-year international goalscoring record after netting his 110th and 111th goals for Portugal in an epic comeback win.

Ronaldo’s 89-minute strike in Portugal 2 – 1 win in their World Cup qualifying match on Wednesday night means he now has 110 goals in 180 appearances for his country, breaking Ali Daei’s record of 109 goals for Iran.

The 36-year-old had the chance to break the record earlier in the game after Portugal were awarded a penalty but Ireland’s 19-year-old goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu, saved Ronaldo’s spot kick.

The Portuguese icon took his shirt off in wild celebration on one of the most memorable nights of a career littered with them.

Daei scored 109 times for Iran between 1993 and 2006.

On Tuesday, August 31, Manchester United confirmed the return of the forward after 12 years away. He will make his debut under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on his return from international duty.

Young Nurse Sues Man for Refusing to Marry Her After 8 Years of Dating

A 26 years old nurse of Mushili in Ndola has sued a man (a teacher by profession) she was engaged to for reconciliation after complaining that he had taken eight years without marrying her.

Gertrude Ngoma brought the matter before Kabushi Local Court accusing Herbert Salaliki, 28, of taking long to marry her despite promising to do so.

“He has wasted my time. I have turned down many marriage proposals from more than 10 men in respect of him but he is now refusing to marry me,” she told the court.

Ms Ngoma complained that she had a child with Salaliki but she was still living with her parents instead of joining her husband.

She told the court that the two had never stayed together despite dowry being paid.

“Your honour, he has never been serious that is why I brought him to court because I deserve to know the way forward and my future with him. Every time we meet he demands for seex of which I give him but has no interest of marrying me,” Ms Ngoma told the court while shedding tears.

More rules: “Music is forbidden in Islam” Taliban leader says

Despite promising that the Taliban group will be more liberal than they were 20 years ago, the terrorist group that has taken over Afghanistan is proving that not much has changed with their policies.

A Taliban leader has announced that music will be banned in Afghanistan and women will be required to travel with a male chaperone on trips that last several days.

In an interview with the New York Times, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said while women will eventually be allowed to return to work and go on trips to school, and hospitals, they would need a male chaperone for trips that last several days.

He added that music will be banned in the country.

Mujahid said: “Music is forbidden in Islam, but we’re hoping that we can persuade people not to do such things, instead of pressure them.”

Still, he said, things will be different under this Taliban rule than the previous regime.

Rejecting reports that the Taliban is already extracting vengeance on those who opposed them, Mujahid said: “We want to build the future and forget what happened in the past.”

He suggested to the New York Times that the Taliban will let women return to their jobs in the future as long as they wear a head covering. He added that concerns that the Taliban would once again force women to stay inside or cover their faces are baseless.

He also said that those with proper travel documents will be able to leave the country, and that his regime will not hunt down former interpreters and others who have worked with the American military over the years, but expressed frustration at American evacuation efforts.

He said: “They shouldn’t interfere in our country and take out our human resources: doctors, professors and other people we need here. In America, they might become dishwashers or cooks. It’s inhuman.”

But, he said, he is still hopeful that the Taliban could build good relationships with the international community, saying they have already cooperated with international leaders on issues like counterterrorism, opium eradication and the reduction of refugees to the West.

Mujahid’s remarks come one day after he announced at a press conference that women should remain inside “until we have a new procedure” in place, while the Taliban trains its forces not to harass women.

He said: “We are worried our forces, who are new and have not been yet trained very well, may mistreat women. We don’t want our forces, God forbid, to harm or harass women.”

In the meantime, he said, women’s salaries will be paid in their homes, echoing what Ahmadullah Waseq, the deputy of the Taliban’s cultural affairs committee, told the Times: that the Taliban has “no problems with working women” as long as they wear hijabs.

So far 29 people have been confirmed dead with a further 24 injured in the crash at around 4am on Tuesday, August 31, reports El Comercio.

The bus was travelling to the Peruvian capital Lima when it is understood the vehicle smashed into a rock before the driver lost control.

29 die after

Clinton Presentation Bacilio, a 24-year-old young man who survived the accident, told El Comercio that after an initial collision, the bus continued its journey several meters before falling.

He said: “I remember that the bus crashed and kept moving. Me and my partner decided to hold on to the seat in case something suddenly turns around because something happens, at that moment the bus leans down.

“We got away from the seat, we walked around and the bus came sliding.”

Clinton’s partner, Luz Merlina Tineo, was one of the passengers taken to hospital after the horrific incident.

29 die after

There are unconfirmed reports that those on board were asking the driver to slow down before the crash.

El Comercio reported that according to the Superintendency of Land Transportation of People, Cargo and Merchandise the last transmission of the GPS system of the bus indicated that it was moving at excessive speed.

It also suggested that this was not the first time that the vehicle was caught for speeding after an offence in May.

29 die after

The accident is the second involving a bus plunging from a road in Peru in a matter of days, after a bus carrying mining workers in a different part of the Andes also fell off a cliff and killed 16 on Friday, August 27.

Hey! Looting ongoing in New Orleans after Hurricane Ida struck (video)

A looting incident broke out in New Orleans, a Louisiana city, after Hurricane Ida flooded wide areas, plunged 1million into darkness and reversed the flow of the Mississippi.

The hurricane which first claimed the life of a 60-year-old man after pushing down a tree on his house near Baton Rouge, has been declared as a major disaster by President Joe Biden.

Looting ensues in New Orleans after Hurricane Ida cuts power to one million homes

Hurricane Ida blew in from the Gulf of Mexico with 150mph winds, exactly 16 years after Hurricane Katrina battered the coast, claiming 1,800 lives.

While nearly all offshore Gulf oil production have been suspended ahead of the storm and residents of the most vulnerable coastal areas evacuated, power to more than 1million homes and businesses in New Orleans was knocked out on Sunday August 29 after transmission lines to the city failed.

A transmission tower which collapsed into the Mississippi, saw the river’s flow briefly reversed.

Barely 24 hours after the power incident, residents of Louisiana have now reported cases of looting. It was reported that some men tried to rob a cash machine in a market in New Orleans neighbourhood St Claude, while a group were captured by a drone looting a store in New Orleans East.

Mayor LaToya Cantrell who reacted to the reports, said that the looting isn’t as widespread as it appears. Cantrell also said the local police are cracking down on looting and anyone caught doing so will be charged with a state felony.

She said;

‘My directive has been very clear: lock ’em up. We will not tolerate and we have not tolerated it.

‘There is no widespread looting going on in the city of New Orleans.

‘What we do have that’s widespread are residents who are being neighbors, who are understand and exhibiting the spirit of humility, of empathy, who are cleaning up their lawns and who are servicing their community.

‘That’s widespread in the city of New Orleans, that’s who we are.’

Though Hurricane Ida weakened into a tropical storm over south-west Mississippi, the US National Hurricane Center said further heavy downpours and ‘life- threatening’ flooding is expected and levees around New Orleans upgraded since Hurricane Katrina remain at risk.

Hindu priest and 4 other men are charged with raping and killing a 9-year girl

Four men, including a Hindu priest, have been charged with raping and murdering a nine-year-old girl in India.

The girl, who has not been named, was sent by her mother to fetch water from the nearby crematorium in New Delhi on August 1, when she was attacked.

The men, who were arrested on August 2, have been formally charged with rape, murder, and destruction of evidence, among other crimes.

Four men including a Hindu priest are charged with raping and murdering a nine-year-old girl

According to CNN, the Ministry of Home Affairs said they could face the death penalty if found guilty.

The girl was found dead with wet clothes, a bloodied nose, bruised hands and arms, and blue lips, on the crematorium floor.  Her body was discovered by her mother who went searching for her only child after she failed to return more than an hour after she was sent to fetch water.

The mother told the BBC she found her daughter’s body on the crematorium floor but was not allowed to take it away.

Three suspects, including a Hindu priest, closed the gates and refused to let her leave, she said.

The trio told her not to phone the police, claiming officers would ‘steal her organs and sell them’ and also demand an autopsy.  Instead, they forcibly cremated the corpse.

According to reports, the girl’s father and around 150 villagers who rushed to the scene, only managed to save the girl’s legs meaning police may never be able to prove if she was raped.

The alleged rape has sparked widespread anger in India.

Protesters this week burned effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of failing to condemn the alleged rape. The demonstrators also burned the likeness of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal outside the Nangal crematorium.

The protesters are demanding the suspects face the death penalty and have called for several police officers to be suspended for allegedly harassing the family.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Manchester United star, pleads guilty to driving his Lamborghini Urus without a driver’s licence

Manchester United footballer Aaron Wan-Bissaka has pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified, without a licence and without insurance.

The 23-year-old right-back on Wednesday stood in the dock at Manchester magistrates court and spoke only to confirm his name and address and enter his guilty pleas during the brief hearing. District Judge Bernard Begley agreed that sentencing should be adjourned until a later date.

Manchester United star,??Aaron Wan-Bissaka pleads guilty to driving his ?160k?Lamborghini Urus?while facing ban

Wan-Bissaka’s earlier conviction for speeding, leading to his ban and disqualification, is subject to a further hearing where the conviction may be set aside. He was stopped while behind the wheel of his £160,000 Lamborghini Urus on 23 June this year, where roadside police checks revealed he was banned from driving.

Sentencing for the latest offences will depend on the outcome of the speeding hearing, the court was told, and a further hearing was adjourned until 16 September in Manchester when both cases may be joined.

A further hearing on the speeding matter will be held at Skipton magistrates court on 1 October. Wan-Bissaka was given unconditional bail until later in the month.

Carl Gaffney, prosecuting, said that at just before 11pm on 23 June a police patrol was on duty on Kingsway, Stockport, and stopped Wan-Bissaka behind the wheel of his Lamborghini.

He said: “When Mr Wan-Bissaka was spoken to he was cooperative at the roadside, asked if he had insurance he answered: ‘As far as I am aware,’ and he held a full UK driving licence.

“The officer carries out roadside checks and it becomes self-evident that Mr Wan-Bissaka had been disqualified from driving on 18 June 2021, at West Yorkshire magistrates court, to 17 December.

”Throughout he was cooperative and cordial. He’s a man of no previous convictions whatsoever.”

Outside court Shaun Draycott, defending, said Wan-Bissaka had been in Spain at the time of the 18 June hearing, and was therefore absent when he was disqualified.

Owerri Pastor forced to marry fiancée’s corpse after he aborted her pregnancy without her consent (video)

A pastor was forced to marry the corpse of his late fiancée who he is alleged to have killed by carrying out an abortion on her while she was unconscious.

Rev Dr. Sucess Emeka Sunday, who owns the church, Life Transformation Praying Ministry, in Akwakuma, Owerri, started dating Chioma Okoye 5 years ago and they got engaged in 2020 and started planning their wedding.

Chioma, 32, soon became pregnant while wedding plans were underway but the pastor didn’t want the baby as his church frowns upon pregnancy before marriage and it would damage his reputation.

The family of the deceased claim that Pastor Sunday invited Chioma over on Feb 24, 2021, and gave her a drink laced with a drug and she became unconscious after consuming it.

He reportedly took her to a hospital and asked for a doctor to terminate the pregnancy. The doctor is said to have refused but the pastor allegedly insisted.

During the procedure, Chioma reportedly started vomiting blood and the doctor advised that the deceased be taken to FMC.

At FMC, Rev. Sunday allegedly registered his fiancée with a different name and then called her family to let them know she was ill.

Chioma reportedly died before her family could intervene.

Wilfred Okoye, who released a statement on behalf of the family, said an autopsy showed there was a drug in her system and also showed that the pastor had allegedly tried to perform an abortion on her by himself while she was unconscious before eventually taking her to the hospital.

After being presented with the autopsy result, the pastor is said to have confessed to drugging her in order to terminate her pregnancy.

A child bride who was convicted of killing her husband, freed after 7 years

Kano child bride, Rahma Hussein has been pardoned 7 years after she was convicted for killing her husband.

Hussein who was arrested at the age of 16 in 2014 and charged to a high court in Kano for stabbing her husband to death a day after their wedding, was convicted in 2018 by Justice R.A. Sadik.

Sadik ordered that she be “detained at the pleasure of the governor of the state”, because she was forcefully married and committed the offence at the age of 16.

Musbahu Kofar-Nassarawa, spokesperson for the Nigerian Correctional Centre (NCoS) in Kano state who addressed newsmen on Saturday August 28, 7 years after the incident, said Hussein’s release was “based on the recommendation from the officials of the correctional centre who attested to her good behaviour”.

Kofar-Nassarawa further said that the officials also advised the state governor, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje to consider the circumstances that culminated into committing the offence and grant her pardon. He said the governor obliged to the advice and granted her pardon.

Hussein expressed excitement after she was pardoned, thanking the committee, the governor and officials of the correctional centre for facilitating her freedom.

She said;

“I’m grateful to the committee. The officials of the correctional centre, who recommended me to be a beneficiary of this gesture, may God reward you abundantly. I am also grateful to Governor Ganduje for his mercy on me. I am happy today.’’

Kano state’s Committee on Prison Reforms and Decongestion which played a role in the pardon, also paid fines of inmates with options of fines, paid compensations, and released those in critical health conditions, including the elderly.

No more abortion of a 6-month fetus in Texas

US state, Texas has passed a new law banning abortion after six weeks into pregnancy.

The law passed by the Republican controlled state, bans abortions after the detection of what anti-abortion campaigners call a foetal heartbeat.

The law took effect after the Supreme Court did not respond to an emergency appeal by abortion providers against the law.

The law gives any individual the right to sue doctors who perform an abortion past the six-week point.

The “Heartbeat Act” was signed into law by Texas Governor Greg Abbott in May but was taken to court by civil rights groups, including Planned Parenthood and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), who requested that the Supreme Court block the legislation.

In the early hours of Wednesday, September 1, the ACLU confirmed that the court had “not responded to our request”, adding: “Access to almost all abortion has just been cut off for millions of people.”

The group described the development as “blatantly unconstitutional”.

Texas passes law banning abortion after six weeks

The US women’s health group Planned Parenthood also condemned the ban, tweeting: “No matter what, we aren’t backing down and we are still fighting. Everyone deserves access to abortion.”

Since the 1973 Supreme Court decision in Roe v Wade, US women have had the right to an abortion until a foetus is viable – that is, able to survive outside the womb. This is usually between 22 and 24 weeks into a pregnancy.

The Texas Heartbeat Act prohibits abortions after six weeks of a pregnancy – at a point when many women do not know they are pregnant. ..Any woman in Texas ego wishes to have an abortion after six weeks would have to travel to another state. The legislation makes an exception in the case of medical emergency, which requires written proof from a doctor, but not for pregnancies resulting from rape or incest.

Joe Biden sued by 20 US states for allowing transgender females in girls’ sports

Twenty US states have filed a lawsuit against the Biden administration after the US Department of Education ordered schools to allow biological males to compete in girls’ sports teams.

Tennessee Attorney General Herbert Slatery and his counterparts in 19 other states in the lawsuit filed in the US district court in Knoxville on Monday August 30, asked the judge to allow them to separate restrooms, showers and locker rooms according to ‘biological sex’.

The suit also seeks for schools to be able to separate sports teams based on ‘biological sex’ and enforce dress codes as such, and not have to use a transgender person’s preferred pronouns.

Slatery said the legal interpretations by the U.S. Department of Education and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission are based on a faulty view of U.S. Supreme Court June 2020  landmark civil rights law, which in Title VII, protects gay, lesbian and transgender people from discrimination in employment.

In June 2021, the Department of Education said discrimination based on a student’s sexual orientation or gender identity will be treated as a violation of Title IX, the 1972 federal law that protects against sex discrimination in education. A legal analysis by the department concluded there is “no persuasive or well-founded basis” to treat education differently than employment.

The education directive reversed President Donald Trump-era policies that removed civil rights protections for transgender students. In 2017, the Trump administration lifted President Barack Obama-era guidance allowing transgender students to use bathrooms and locker rooms that match their gender identities.

Also in June 2021, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission released guidance about what could constitute discrimination against LGBTQ people and advised the public about how to file a complaint.

With its guidance, the Biden administration in part took a stand against laws and proposals in a growing number of states that aim to forbid transgender girls from participating on female sports teams. The state attorneys general contend that the authority over such policies “properly belongs to Congress, the States, and the people.”

However the plaintiffs said;

“The guidance purports to resolve highly controversial and localized issues such as whether employers and schools may maintain sex-separated showers and locker rooms, whether schools must allow biological males to compete on female athletic teams, and whether individuals may be compelled to use another person’s preferred pronouns.

“But the agencies have no authority to resolve those sensitive questions, let alone to do so by executive fiat without providing any opportunity for public participation.”

Joining Tennessee in the lawsuit are Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota and West Virginia. They are all Republican-led states, except for three.

Fresh Nazis and Adolf Hitler’s massacre of over 3,500 children discovered in Russia

Nazi’s ‘death quarry’ which is filled with more than 3,500 bodies has been discovered in Russia.

The mass graveyard which gives new evidence of crimes committed by Adolf Hitler during the Nazi occupation of the region in World War II, is located in the city of Salsk in the Rostov region.

Hitler?s ?death quarry? where Nazis massacred kids, unearthed in Russia

Diggers were especially appalled at the discovery of remains of dozens of slaughtered women and children, including babies, following the declassification of documents from KGB secret service archives.

Volunteer search squad, Mius-Front reported key findings from their gruesome search so far.

The group said;

“Our expedition continues to work in the death quarry of the city of Salsk.

“Here, the Nazis killed 3,500 civilians in 1942-43.

“There were many children among them.

“Today, 15 children from one to ten years old were found and taken out.

“It is scary.

“There is nothing more terrifying in war than seeing children die. Any war veteran will tell you that.

“We have already found 20 children in just one execution pit.”

Hitler?s ?death quarry? where Nazis massacred kids, unearthed in Russia

Unusually, not all the victims were shot. One of the diggers said;

“For the majority, death came from blows to the head with a boot or fist.

“Perhaps the children’s heads were smashed against the dried clay of the quarry.

“We have not encountered this before.”

A few Red Army prisoners of war were among the dead but most were the old, the young, and a hugely disproportionate number of women. Among 60 sets of human remains where DNA analysis has been conducted, 16 are women, and 19 children between the ages of two and late teens.

Hitler?s ?death quarry? where Nazis massacred kids, unearthed in Russia

The group’s head Andrey Kudryakov is heard on video saying;

“This is a child’s boot, here is a very small collarbone.

“Here a tiny skull – broken. Nearby is probably his mum.

“A little four or five year old human. Together with mum in this dreadful execution pit.

“This is not ordinary archeology or search work.

“This is the establishment of historical justice.”

“This area – not well investigated previously –  “is now revealing its terrible secrets”.

“We see how many kids died here.”

Kudryakov also shared the story of a young pregnant woman with a Cossack cross around her neck.

Hitler?s ?death quarry? where Nazis massacred kids, unearthed in Russia

He added;

“She clasped her head in her hands in horror so as not to see how she was being killed,” he said.

“Next to her lie the torn children, they tried to hide from death, but Hitler’s executioners finished them off with bayonets.

“They didn’t waste bullets, or maybe they ran out of cartridges.

“The punishers had  much  work in the clay quarry of Salsk,

“it took a lot of ammunition to shoot hundreds of people, so they saved their bullets, and beat them with rifle butts, kicked with boots, and stabbed with bayonets.”

The dead are mostly believed to include Russians, Jews and gypsies relating to Operation Barbosa launched by the Nazis in 1941. The hope is to match some victims by DNA to their modern-day relatives.

Bishop Oyedepo slams ‘Fulani vagabonds’ (video)

Senior Pastor of the Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo, has said the error Nigeria made in 2015 will never be repeated.

Speaking in his church recently, the clergyman who did not mention any name, said the choice of the wicked to be on the throne of Nigeria will never be repeated.

The clergyman who was clad in his synonymous all-white ensemble, said

”The error this nation mad in 2015 will never be repeated for ever. The choice of the wicked to seat on throne of Nigeria will not be repeated. This Nation will experience a new order of settlement. The God of vengeance is rising in defence of this nation today” he declared as his members chorused a thunderous Amen

Speaking further, the clergyman who has never hidden his displeasure for the government of the day, said ”Fulani vagabonds” now make life impossible for local people.

”You can’t tell how many destinies have been unsettled by the unsettlement of the nation. Fulani vagabons making life impossible for local people . And do they claim not to know? we had it exposed..but I knew it before. Fire from now!”

He said judgement against the wicked will start now.

”And the church became mute. And they cut the neck of a church leader. In this time and age? If nothng happens, then God has not sent me.

Judgement will be ravaging the land from now. Many will sleep and never wake up. Many will be struck with blindness in 24 hours. Many will be crippled in 3 days. My God is turning the table against the wicked.”he said

CBN orders banks to publish names and BVN of Forex defaulters

The Central Bank of Nigeria has instructed banks to publish the names and Bank Verification Numbers BVN of its customers who default on its Forex policy.

In a circulate to banks dated Monday, August 30th, the apex bank lamented that it has “received and noted with concern reports of sharp practices by some unscrupulous customers to circumvent the new CBN policy on the sale of forex for overseas personal and business travel”.

The bank said some of the unwholesome practices of some customers include “include the use of fake visas and cancellation of air tickets after purchase of PTA/BTA”.

Haruna B. Mustafa Director Banking Supervision Department of the CBN, who signed the circular, noted: “this trend, if not curbed, portends risk to the integrity and stability of the forex market”. He said to curb this trend, all banks must

”publish on their websites the names and BVN of defaulting customers who present fake travel documents or cancel their tickets and fail to return the purchased PTA/BTA within two (weeks) as stipulated in the customer declaration form signed by them”.

Prior to this order, most banks had written to their customers of their commitment to provide customers with foreign exchange for their Personal and Business Travel as well as payment for overseas Education, Medical and other eligible invisible transactions.

The rules that customers have to follow before they can access forex the bank said are: FX shall be sold for Legitimate Travel Purpose Only. Bank customers are required to provide a valid Nigerian passport and a valid visa to an international destination.

Only valid travel documents like tickets to an international destination outside of West Africa and Cameroon will be accepted. The international return ticket must have a travel date not more than 14 days from the date of PTA/BTA purchase.

Bank customers can only apply for PTA/BTA once in a quarter: PTA and BTA requests are limited to a maximum of $4,000 and $5,000 per quarter per applicant respectively.

Customers are required to return purchased PTA/BTA to their bank within two (2) weeks from the date of purchase if not utilized for the intended purpose or if for any reason the scheduled trip is cancelled.

Those wishing to buy Forex are also not allowed to apply for Forex on behalf of a third party. FX will only be sold directly to applicants who shall be Nigerians who are 18 years and above and have a valid Bank Verification Number (BVN).

False application and use of fake documents to purchase PTA/BTA is prohibited and is now considered a financial crime punishable under the applicable laws in Nigeria.

Over 90 retired US generals/admirals call for resignation of America’s defense chiefs over Afghanistan withdrawal

About 90 retired generals and admirals are demanding that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley resign over the US withdrawal from Afghanistan.

‘The retired Flag Officers signing this letter are calling for the resignation and retirement of the Secretary of Defense (SECDEF) and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) based on negligence in performing their duties primarily involving events surrounding the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan,’ 90 retired top-ranking military officials wrote in an open letter released Monday.

They believe Milley and Austin should have advised Biden against the withdrawal.

‘As principal military advisors to the CINC (Commander in Chief)/President, the SECDEF and CJCS should have recommended against this dangerous withdrawal in the strongest possible terms,’ they wrote.

‘If they did not do everything within their authority to stop the hasty withdrawal, they should resign,’ the letter demands.

They also said that if Milley and Austin did advise against this, they should have resigned if Biden didn’t take their direction to show their disapproval and to not have to carry out the mission that ended up with lives lost of 13 U.S. service members.

‘[I]f they did do everything within their ability to persuade the CINC/President to not hastily exit the country without ensuring the safety of our citizens and Afghans loyal to America, then they should have resigned in protest as a matter of conscience and public statement.’

In an ISIS-K suicide bombing near the Kabul airport on Thursday, 13 U.S. troops were killed.

Biden took responsibility for their deaths, claiming everything that has happened in the withdrawal has been his doing.

‘The hasty retreat has left initial estimates at ~15,000 Americans stranded in dangerous areas controlled by a brutal enemy along with ~25,000 Afghan citizens who supported American forces,’ the 90 retired generals and admirals wrote.

The letter comes as Joe Biden faces his own calls to resign or be impeached as those from all political backgrounds have criticized the president for his handling of the withdrawal.

Taliban jubilates as US troops finally leave Afghanistan

Taliban fighters fired their guns into the air in celebration in Kabul as the last US troops left Afghanistan nearly twenty years after it arrived the country following the September 11, 2001 attacks on America.

Marine General Frank McKenzie, the head of the US Central Command, made the withdrawal announcement at a Pentagon news briefing on Monday, August 30, after the last troops sent to evacuate Americans and Afghans at risk following the Taliban’s return to power flew out of the capital Kabul.

“I’m here to announce the completion of our withdrawal from Afghanistan and the end of the military mission to evacuate American citizens,” McKenzie said.

McKenzie said the last flight, a large C-17 military transport, took off from Hamid Karzai International Airport one minute before midnight Kabul time.

Recall that US President Joe Biden set a deadline of August 31 for the withdrawal earlier this year.

The final withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan meant the US military could not evacuate all the people that it had hoped to, said Central Command head General Kenneth McKenzie.

Even after an airlift that flew more than 120,000 people from the country since July, “we did not get everybody out that we wanted to get out,” McKenzie said.

After the US troops left on August 30, the Taliban proclaimed “full independence” for Afghanistan.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said that “American soldiers left the Kabul airport, and our nation got its full independence”.

A senior Taliban official said the Taliban had “made history” after the last US troops pulled out.

Anas Haqqani, a senior official of the Taliban tweeted: “We made history again. The 20-year occupation of Afghanistan by the United States and NATO ended tonight.

“I am very happy that after 20 years of jihad, sacrifices & hardships I have this pride to see these historic moments.”

Al Jazeera’s Rob McBride said celebrations erupted in Kabul as the last US troops left Afghanistan on a flight from the capital.

“The celebrations here in Kabul have been underway for the past hour or so – the whole skyline around the city here has been completely lit up with bursts of gunfire, although it has died off in the last few minutes or so,” McBride said, reporting from the Afghan capital.

“This is celebratory gunfire … it’s all aimed up into the sky but it has to come down somewhere.”

Afghan Woman fleeing from the Taliban gives birth on flight to UK

A woman fleeing Afghanistan has given birth to a baby girl while on a flight to the United Kingdom.

A Turkish Airlines flight said the 26-year-old woman identified as Soman Noori gave birth on Saturday August 28, after having contractions as the plane was midway between Dubai and Birmingham.

With no doctor aboard, Turkish Airlines staff assisted the mother through labor, which took place in Kuwaiti airspace, Reuters reported. Video shows the crew posing with the tiny baby, who was wearing a pink hat and was wrapped in a blanket.

Evening Standard reported that this is the third child for Noori and husband Taj Moh Hammat, who named their baby Havva, which translates to Eve.

Reuters reported that the plane was carrying Afghans who work with the UK.

As for planes flying to Europe, there is generally no automatic citizenship. However, there’s something called the Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness and countries that have signed on, offer citizenship in the country where the aircraft is registered.  This presents a problem for refugees as the plane might be registered to a country that has no connection to the final destination of the aircraft.

Teenage girl electrocuted while charging her phone after her home was struck by lightning, now dead

A teenage girl has died after being electrocuted when her home was struck by lightning while she was using her mobile phone as it charged.

Radja Ferreira de Oliveira’s phone was plugged into the main socket at her house in Santarem, Brazil, when it was hit by lightning in the early hours of Sunday, August 29.

The 18-year-old, who was using her mobile phone at the time lightning struck, received a severe electric shock and passed out.

Emergency services were called, but by the time the paramedics arrived at the scene, her family had already given her first aid and rushed her to the hospital.

Sadly, Radja was pronounced dead on arrival.

Girl, 18, electrocuted and killed while charging her phone after her home was struck by lightning

She was the third person to be electrocuted in the Brazilian state of Para last week.

Semeao Tavares was on a phone call in Curua when he was struck by lightning during a different storm on August 25. Medics reached him while he was still alive, but he died from his injuries.

Councillor Raimundo Brito, of the Progressistas political party, was also electrocuted during the same storm while he was plucking a duck in his home in Macura. Brito managed to call for help and was taken to the local health centre, where he was treated for his injuries.

Following Radja’s death, experts have again warned of risks of using a mobile phone while it is still charging.

Trans-kid currently awaiting doctor’s appointment to cut off ‘her’ penis at the age of 3

A 25-year-old mum who now uses “she” and “her” pronouns for her prospective trans-daughter who is awaiting a doctor’s appointment to change his gender, has narrated how he tried to cut off his penis at the age of 3.

Jess Bratton said the shocking incident happened five years ago and made her realise how her doll-loving son Logan wasn’t going through an experimental phase, but instead identified as a female and was trying to be his true self.

Revealing that her son, Logan had always had an interest in girls’ clothes and make up, and had always been keen to see how her and his younger sister dressed, the mother of two further disclosed that after seeing him trying to cut off his penis with some scissors, she decided to look into the possibility that her child was trans.

Jess said;

“I was in the kitchen making dinner, with my back to Logan’s bedroom door. She was chattering away to her dolls but suddenly went silent.

“I shouted her name and got no response, so seconds later I went into her room and caught her sitting on the bed with her trousers down, holding a pair of scissors to her bits.

“I gasped loudly, which made her jump, and quickly took the scissors off her.

“Then I just held her in my arms and we both cried.

“Afterwards I explained that cutting herself would really hurt and that because she wanted to do something so drastic, we would have to talk to a doctor.

“That day made me realise the severity of the situation. It wasn’t just a phase; my little boy really did want to be a girl.”

The mum also revealed that she couldn’t bear to see Logan unhappy and knew things would have to change.

She approached her family GP in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, to explain the scissors episode and that Logan no longer wanted to wear boys’ clothes. The doctor suggested that Logan’s yearning to be a girl could still be a phase, but said he was too young for counselling.

Jess added;

“My GP said there wasn’t really anything we could do but requested I keep a close eye on Logan in the meantime.

“Before this, I had tried to encourage Logan to dress in boys’ clothing and play with boys’ toys, but after the scare I decided to welcome her wish to change.”

Not long before the incident, Jess had given birth to her youngest child Lylah, now six, with Logan doting on his little sister from the start.

Logan soon began wearing more cropped tops and dresses, rather than the boys’ clothes she had been dressed in before.

Jess who is a healthcare assistant for residents with mental health and dementia, said;

“When Logan was just one, she was wearing tea towels on her head, wishing for long hair.

“As soon as she was old enough, she started asking to do my hair and make-up. She was just so interested in me – as well as her sister when she was born.

“As Lylah got older, the pair of them became more like sisters than brother and sister, and Logan’s desire to be a girl never went away. In fact, it only got stronger.

“When Logan was six, she started talking about having a sex change.

“She told me she didn’t want her bits and kept saying she wanted a ‘Mary’ like me and her sister! I told her that when she was a little older, the doctors would be able to help her.”

Jess who is separated from Logan’s father, is relieved that the reaction from family and friends has been positive.

She said;

“Logan has a strong support network and luckily, has only had good things said to her.

“At the beginning there was the odd person telling me to ‘nip it in the bud’ and to stop her wearing girls’ clothes, but I wasn’t too worried.

“I knew it was normal for kids to try new things or experiment.

“There were times when I really tried to get her to be a boy, encouraging her to play football with other boys at the park, but she refused.

“She wouldn’t even entertain it and still won’t – and I don’t want to force her.”

Mirror reported that on the 8th March during UK’s third lockdown, Jess made the brave decision to allow Logan to return to school wearing a girls’ uniform.

She said;

“While she couldn’t stop smiling, I was a nervous wreck! I was so worried about her getting bullied.

“I spoke to a few parents from the school and Logan’s teacher about it beforehand, and they were all so positive.

“Thankfully, the school has been so supportive. Logan’s teacher has also shown her class a YouTube video about being transgender and her friends think she’s cooler because of it.”

After repeated requests to have her sex changed, Logan and her mum are now waiting for an appointment at the Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) in London.

Jess also admitted that that being the parent of a transgender child can be lonely and now wants to share her experience to help other parents who may be at a loss.

Alert! Unknown Gunmen Invade David Oyedepo’s Church, Abduct Members

Unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits have attacked a branch of Living Faith Church Worldwide at Osara community, along Lokoja-Okene road in Adavi Local Government Council of Kogi State.

Oyedepo
It was learnt that the kidnappers, who invaded the church premises when some of its members were rehearsing during the weekend, abducted at least three members.

The gunmen were said to have stormed the area, shooting sporadically to scare away interveners before whisking the victims to an unknown destination.

The Chairman of Adavi Local Government Council, Joseph Omuya Salami, confirmed the development to newsmen on Monday evening through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Habeeb Jamiu.

According to him, the chairman had visited the scene in company of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Osara Division since the incident occured.

Habeeb Jamiu added that the council was working with security agents in the area to ensure that the victims are rescued unhurt.

The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Williams Ovye Aya, was yet to react.

Bishop Oyedepo: Don’t jump into marriage because someone is rich (video)

Senior Pastor of the Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo, has appealed to young people not to get married because of money.

Taking a cue from his own life, the clergyman gave the advice while preaching in his church on Sunday, August 29, stating that he did not have money when he got married to his wife, Faith, 39 years ago.

”You don’t jump into marriage because somebody has money. I didn’t have no money. I didn’t look like someone who will have money. Just one boy who doesn’t know what he is saying, always saying, “Jesus loves you.”

Did we say, “He hates us before”?

You think this man has any future?

There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

You couldn’t imagine that you could see the meaning of wealth and now they say, “He is the richest Pastor in the world.” From the forest.

They have a right to say that because he doesn’t borrow, he doesn’t beg and yet he doesn’t lack. Then what is wealth?

For someone to say, “you can’t marry that person. You know your status, my status in town, you want to marry somebody who is …! Don’t let me talk nonsense to you.”

There are some parents like that: they are the ones to marry their daughter to somebody.

“How many degrees does he have?” Only one. No, not in this family, we don’t have one degree here! Then marry her. You are the father, be the father and husband. ” he said

Although the infection rates amongst women increased between 2016-2019, the use of antiretroviral treatment by them declined.

A new report has indicated that the percentage of women living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria increased between 2016 and 2019 while that of men decreased within the same period.

The result from the Nigeria HIV/AIDS Indicator and Impact Survey (NAIIS), which was conducted in 2018, shows that about 1.9 million people under the age of 64 are living with HIV in the country.

But according to the latest report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), approximately half of the projected population of HIV persons in the country are women.

The report noted that the percentage of women with the infection increased from 53.1 per cent in 2016 to 55.5 in 2017, 55.83 in 2018 and 56.03 per cent in 2019.

Report

The report which is tagged; “2020 statistical report on women and men in Nigeria” was published by the NBS on August 25, 2021.

NBS is the apex statistical agency responsible for the development and management of official statistics in Nigeria.

The agency said the data included in the publication were “carefully and systematically collected, compiled, processed and analysed from a wide variety of primary and administrative data sources across the National Statistical System”.

It also said the data should serve as a useful resource for policy makers at all levels and the public.

Antiretroviral use

Although the infection rates amongst women increased between 2016-2019, the use of antiretroviral treatment by them declined.

Data extracted from the NBS report shows that the percentage of female patients who had access to antiretroviral in 2016 was 69.05 per cent.

It, however, declined slightly in 2017 to 68.71 per cent and rose to 68.93 per cent in 2018.

The percentage, however, dropped to 31.07 per cent in 2018.

HIV statistics

Since early 1980s, HIV/AIDS has been a critical health issue for women and men in Nigeria.

The survey also shows that women aged 15-49 years are more than twice as likely to be living with HIV than men, placing this at 1.9 per cent and 0.9 per cent respectively.

It also indicates that the prevalence between women and men is greatest among younger adults, with young women aged 20–24 years more than three times as likely to be living with HIV as young men in the same age group.

Among children aged 0–14 years, HIV prevalence according to the survey is 0.2 per cent.
