Wahala! as a smart thief carts away 43 Million Naira at APC headquarters

There was confusion at the National Headquarters of the All Progressives Congress on Wednesday as at least N43,000,000 reportedly went missing.

Our correspondent observed that the canopy under which the sale of forms took place was suddenly dismantled without explanation.

The party resorted to canopies due to the ongoing renovation/refurbishment works being carried out in the secretariat main building.

It was gathered that the sum of $75,000 had gone missing amid the crowded struggle at the main entrance to the party premises.

Party sources, however, disclosed that the missing money was in no way connected to the monies from the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms as aspirants are expected to make deposits in the designated account numbers before picking up their forms at the Buhari House.

“It’s actually $75,000. You know there was a struggle at the gate when aspirants and supporters were trying to get in.

“When the parcel of money dropped, it went missing in a flash. By the time security operatives were alerted, the thief had vanished with the envelope,” the party source said.

Earlier, the secretariat had been a beehive of activities as aspirants trooped in to obtain forms for various electoral offices. On the outside of Buhari House were hundreds of supporters lined up to cheer their respective aspirants as they made their way into the premises.

Wednesday’s sale of forms had made it clear that the party premises might not accommodate the nearly two-week exercise.

Therefore, talks are underway to relocate to a different venue altogether.

As of the time of filing this report, some officials of the party were heard deliberating to move the exercise to International Conference Centre, Abuja.

Tyson Fury says that he is retiring, no amount of cash will lure him back again

WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury has again reiterated that he is retiring from boxing, stressing that “no amount of money” will tempt him to change the decision.

This is coming days after the 33-year-old undefeated WBC heavyweight champion defeated fellow Briton Dillian Whyte via a sixth-round stoppage in front of a 94,000 crowd at Wembley.

Speaking on Piers Morgan Uncensored on TalkTV, Fury said: “This is the truth, the gospel truth, nothing but the truth – I’m done.

“Every good dog has its day. Like a great Roman leader said, there will always be somebody else to fight.

“When is enough enough? I’m happy, I’m healthy, I’ve still got my brains, I can still talk. I’ve got a beautiful wife, I’ve got six kids. I’ve got umpteen belts, I’ve got plenty of money. I’ve got success, fame, glory. What more am I doing it for?

“Boxing’s a very dangerous sport, you can be taken out with one punch as we’ve seen on Saturday night, and it only takes one unlucky blow and you may not get up off that canvas.

“I’m quitting while I’m ahead. I’m undefeated, only the second man in history to retire undefeated heavyweight champion.

“I’m very, very happy and very content in my heart with what I’ve done, what I’ve achieved.

“It’s not about money for me. A lot of people in this world, everything is about money, and more money and more money. I’ve got enough money. I’ve got enough of everything I need.

“I’m a very simple man. I drive an 07 VW Passat. I’m a very normal person, I don’t need tons of money to impress everybody.”

Fury, whose professional record shows 32 wins and one draw, with 23 victories by KO, added: “It’s not worth it (continuing).

“I’ve got a family to raise. I have four young kids to raise and two older ones.

“I’ve been away for the last 10 years on the road, all over the world, travelling for boxing. When do I get time to be a father or a husband, a brother, a son. I need this personal time.

“The fans will always want more, they are always baying for more blood. But at the end of the day I don’t have anything more to give. I’ve given everything I’ve got. I’ve been a professional (for) 14 years, I’ve been boxing over 20 years.

“My time is to go out on a high. I always said that I wanted to walk away on top of the sport, and do it on my terms, and I didn’t want to be the person who said ‘well, I should have maybe retired two years ago’ or whatever.

“I just wanted to walk out on top, go out with a bang. Nearly 100,000 at Wembley, with a knockout performance – they will not forget the Gypsy King in a hurry, and no amount of material assets or money will make me come back out of retirement because I’m very happy.”

Fury has indicated he has no interest in facing either WBA, IBF, and WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk or Anthony Joshua, but admitted he’s not ruling out exhibition fights or a return to return to World Wrestling Entertainment.

And when asked by Morgan on Wednesday what his big aim in life now was, Fury replied: “My big aim in life now Piers is to get a job next to you, interviewing people and talking my mind!”

Russian Gazprom cuts off gas supply to Poland and Bulgaria over their support for Ukraine

Russian energy giant, Gazprom today halted gas supplies to Bulgaria and Poland for failing to pay for its gas in roubles after President Vladimir Putin gave the order.

The decision is the Kremlin’s toughest retaliation yet to international sanctions over the war in Ukraine.

Poland confirmed that supplies had been cut, while Bulgaria said it would find out soon. Both accused Gazprom of breaching longstanding supply contracts.

“Because all trade and legal obligations are being observed, it is clear that at the moment the natural gas is being used more as a political and economic weapon in the current war,” Bulgarian Energy Minister Alexander Nikolov said.

Gazprom said in a statement it had “completely suspended gas supplies to Bulgargaz and PGNiG (PGN.WA) due to absence of payments in roubles,” referring to the Polish and Bulgarian gas companies.

Russian President Vladimir Putin demanded that buyers from “unfriendly” countries pay for gas in roubles or be cut off, starting from the date payments are due for April. The European Union has rejected this demand as rewriting contracts that called for payment in euros.

Poland receives its Russian gas through the Yamal-Europe pipeline from Russia’s huge gas fields in the Arctic far north, which continues west to supply Germany and other European countries. Bulgaria is supplied through pipes over Turkey.

Polish state-owned PGNiG (PGN.WA) confirmed its supplies from Gazprom had been cut but said it was still supplying its own clients as needed.

“Cutting gas supplies is a breach of contract and PGNiG reserves the right to seek compensation and will use all available contractual and legal means to do so,” the company said.

Andriy Yermak, chief of staff to Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, said Russia was “beginning the gas blackmail of Europe”.

“Russia is trying to shatter the unity of our allies,” Yermak said.

‘Doing Business in Nigeria has improved’ – M. Okechukwu Buhari

President Buhari has said that the ease of doing business in Nigeria is better now than before.

A statement released by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Buhari, Femi Adesina, said the president said this during Iftar with members of the business community and the leadership of political parties in Abuja on Tuesday night, April 26.

The president said his administration had done “exceedingly well” in improving the business climate of Nigeria. The president asked the private sector to complement government’s effort in poverty reduction and job creation for young people. In 2020, Nigeria ranked 131 globally on the World Bank’s ease of doing business index. The country moved up by 15 places from its previous position — 146.

‘‘No administration has done as much as we have done in the creation of a climate best suited for business, big and small, to thrive. The business index that is globally recognized has acknowledged that the ease with which business is carried out in the country has never been better than it is today. We will continue to make it better.

We will equally continue to count on the support of the private sector to improve economic growth and create new job opportunities for our teeming population.

Employment is critical to stability and prosperity of our country. Government and the private sector, working together, have an opportunity to transform the lives of people in ways that was hard to imagine in the past.”the President said

‘Human Bird flu’: China detects H3N8 bird flu in humans

China has confirmed the first known human case of the H3N8 strain of avian flu.

According to China’s National Health Commission, a four-year-old boy living in central Henan province tested positive for the strain after being hospitalised with a fever and other symptoms.

The boy’s family raised chickens at home and lived in an area populated by wild ducks,  China’s NHC said in a statement. The NHC said the boy’s case was a “one-off cross-species transmission, and the risk of large-scale transmission is low”.

Though health authorities say there is a low risk of widespread transmission among people, H3N8 is known to have been circulating since 2002 after first emerging in North American waterfowl. It is known to infect horses, dogs and seals, but has not previously been detected in humans.

The public has however been warned to stay away from dead or sick birds and seek immediate treatment for fever or respiratory symptoms.

Avian influenza occurs mainly in wild birds and poultry. Cases of transmission between humans are extremely rare.

According to the US Centers for Disease Control, the H5N1 and H7N9 strains of bird flu, detected in 1997 and 2013, respectively, have been responsible for most cases of human illness from avian influenza.

Human infections of zoonotic, or animal-borne, influenzas are “primarily acquired through direct contact with infected animals or contaminated environments, but do not result in the efficient transmission of these viruses between people”, according to the World Health Organisation.

Central African Republic adopts bitcoin as legal tender

The Central African Republic has adopted bitcoin as legal tender, becoming the second country in the world to make the move after El Salvador.

Lawmakers unanimously adopted a bill that made bitcoin legal tender alongside the CFA franc and legalised the use of cryptocurrencies, and President Faustin Archange Touadera signed the measure into law, the president’s office said Wednesday.

The CAR “is the first country in Africa to adopt bitcoin as legal tender,” his chief of staff Obed Namsio said in a statement.

“This move places the Central African Republic on the map of the world’s boldest and most visionary countries,” he declared.

The landlocked state is one of the planet’s poorest and most troubled nations, with an economy that is heavily dependent on mining.

El Salvador became the world’s first bitcoin adopter on September 7.

The introduction was heavily criticised by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

It warned of “large risks associated with the use of bitcoin on financial stability, financial integrity, and consumer protection” and with issuing bitcoin-backed bonds.

Prince Andrew may be stripped of major British honour tonight

Prince Andrew could be stripped of the Freedom of the City of York today as the city’s council considers a motion to remove his honorary title.

York City Council is considering the motion on Thursday afternoon which, if passed, would remove the title that was conferred on him in 1987.

Speaking on the move to remove Prince Andrew’s title, Darryl Smalley, a Liberal Democrat councillor for York City, said: “Having been stripped of his military roles and royal patronages by the Queen, we are seeking to end Prince Andrew’s links with our great city, including removing his honorary freedom.

“York’s unique connection to the crown and the monarch is an important part of our city’s legacy and history. However, as a council and city, we stand with victims of sexual abuse and are doing all we can to end violence against women and girls locally.

“As such, it is inappropriate that Prince Andrew retains his ambassadorial title that is intrinsically linked to our city.”

Prince Andrew agreed to pay a financial settlement to his accuser Virginia Giuffre on 8 March, ending a civil case brought against him in the United States.

The out of court settlement accepted no liability and Prince Andrew has always rejected any claims of wrongdoing.

At 6pm on Thursday, York City Council will consider the motion: “The Council resolves that, pursuant to Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972, the City of York Council withdraws the Honorary Freeman of the City status from the Duke of York which was conferred upon him in 1987.”

Councillors have also called on Buckingham Palace and the government to remove Prince Andrew’s Duke of York title. The Queen alone cannot remove titles of peerage. In order for the Duke of York moniker to be removed, a statute would have to be passed by the House of Commons and the Lords.

‘We drank each other’s blood for ritual purposes’ – Megan Fox and her fiancé

Megan Fox has revealed that she and her fiancé Machine Gun Kelly drink each other’s blood for “ritual purposes”.

The 35-year-old actress first announced her engagement to the 32-year-old musician last November on Instagram, where she detailed that they have drunk each other’s blood.

She discussed the Instagram post and how the blood comment was true during a recent interview with Glamour UK. Megan however said they didn’t drink a lot of blood, but only do it for “ritual purposes”.

She said;

“So, I guess to drink each other’s blood might mislead people or people are imagining us with goblets and we’re like Game of Thrones, drinking each other’s blood.”

Megan Fox says she and fiancee Machine Gun Kelly drink each other

Fox said that when she does drink her partner’s blood, she’s much more “controlled” and there’s a “reason” for it, since she’s someone who prefers reading “tarot cards” and “astrology” more.

“And so, when I do it, it’s a passage or it is used for a reason,” the Jennifer’s Body star added. “And it is controlled where it’s like, ‘Let’s shed a few drops of blood and each drink it.’”

However, Fox noted that Kelly is much more “hectic” when it comes to blood and appears to be willing to drink more than just a few drops.

“He’s much more haphazard and hectic and chaotic, where he’s willing to just cut his chest open with broken glass and be like, ‘Take my soul,’” she said.

When asked if Kelly would actually slash his chest to offer Fox more blood, she responded: “It doesn’t not happen. Let me tell you. Maybe not exactly like that, but a version of that has happened many times.”

She revealed she was taught in Costa Rica that in medicine alcohol can extract a plant’s essence, and recalled: “I thought, ‘That is exactly how alcohol makes me feel. As though it is extracting my essence’. “Which is why I have avoided it for so long.”

In January Machine Gun Kelly proposed to mum-of-three Megan with a ring of thorns and explained: “If she tries to take it off, it hurts. Love is pain!”

Kim Kardashian’s first husband, Damon Thomas speaks

Kim Kardashian’s first husband, Damon Thomas has responded to her claim of being high on ecstasy when she married him in 2000.

Kardashian who eloped with music producer Damon Thomas when she was 19 and he was 29, has said in a 2018 episode of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” that she was using the party drug at the time of the pair’s Las Vegas nuptials.

“I did ecstasy once and I got married. I did it again, I made a sex tape. Like, everything bad would happen,” she explained while speaking with Scott Disick and sister Kendall Jenner at the time. As many know, Miss Kim got married to the music producer in 2000 when she was 19 years old. He filed for divorce in 2003.

The music producer who has now responded to the claim, has said that he feels the reality star “should be more responsible with those statements” because “there’s a lot more to that subject and those things.”

Damon also told Vlad TV in a recent interview that it’s unfair for her to say such things because it doesn’t make sense.

He said;

“Yeah, I don’t remember that at all. So I don’t — that’s her thing. They can say what they…

“I think it’s unfair to make those kind of blanket statements because we have kids now, you know? I have children. My kid goes to the same school her kid goes to. So imagine him when he has to deal with that at school.

“I can go into that and blow up the spot, but I wouldn’t. And I’ve been very responsible in not talking about what that marriage was or what it meant to me.

“Because it happened in the past, you can try to sweep it under the rug, but you don’t stay married to somebody or be with somebody for four to five years and it’s just based off you getting high off of ecstasy, you know what I mean?” he added. “That doesn’t make any sense at all.”

As for why the former couple chose to elope, Thomas claimed Kardashian “wasn’t talking to” her mother, Kris Jenner, at the time — but he ultimately chalked the move up to “young love.”

Thomas and Kardashian were married from January 2000 to February 2004. He said they met in 1998 and that she inquired about him first.

“It wasn’t what people may say,” he told Vlad TV. “It was her doing.” Despite his feelings on the ecstasy claim, Thomas said he’s “proud of [Kardashian]” and “proud of her family.”

He said he’s seen and spoken to Kris “a couple times” throughout the years and that they’re “cool.”

In the couple’s divorce papers, obtained by The Daily Mail in 2010, Kardashian accused Thomas of being controlling and possessive and alleged that he physically abused her.

According to The New York Daily News, Thomas denied the allegations to InTouch Weekly at the time, reportedly saying, “It’s just absolutely not true.”

Madonna splits from her 28-year old boyfriend, Ahlamalik Williams after 3 years relationship

Madonna has reportedly split from her boyfriend Ahlamalik Williams after three years of dating.

The singer, 63, dated her back-up dancer Williams, 28, for almost four years after first meeting in 2015 on her Rebel Heart tour.

However, Madonna is said to have found it “hard to keep their romance alight” because she is so busy with work.

A source told The Sun: “Madonna has thrown herself into a busy social life and has been seeing her friends and family after the split.

“She has a packed schedule, working on her upcoming biopic, new music and looking after her family, things have been on and off with Ahlamalik for a while. There’s a lot of love but for now they have decided to separate.

“They are still on good terms and there are no hard feelings but they are at different places with their lives, they spent months together on tour and in lockdown, but now he has moved out of her home.”

Despite reports that they are still on good terms, Madonna shared a cryptic quote that read: “Karma said: when somebody in your life is not right for you… God will continuously use them to hurt you until you become strong enough to let them go.”

Russia threatening to military sites in NATO countries because of their support for Ukraine

The Kremlin has warned it could target military sites in the UK and other NATO countries because of their support for Ukraine.

Maria Zakharova, the Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman, suggested that strikes could be authorised against NATO states who provide arms to Ukraine.

She warned: ‘Do we understand correctly that for the sake of disrupting the logistics of military supplies, Russia can strike military targets on the territory of those Nato countries that supply arms to the Kyiv regime?

‘After all, this directly leads to deaths and bloodshed on Ukrainian territory. As far as I understand, Britain is one of those countries.’

Her words came after Britain’s Armed Forces Minister James Heappey said that the UK backed Ukrainian airstrikes on Russian infrastructure.

He added that it would be ‘completely legitimate’ for British weapons to be used in such attacks, even though none are currently thought to be.

Heappey also said that Britain would re-start the training of Ukrainian troops inside Ukraine if the conflict became ‘frozen’ in the eastern Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

But his remarks were seized upon by the Kremlin, with the defence ministry accusing him of ‘provocation’.

In a significant escalation of tensions, Moscow also warned that it would be prepared to strike back at ‘decision-making centres’ in Kyiv in retaliation even if British and other Western diplomats were present.

Reacting to the threats, Tobias Ellwood, chairman of the defence select committee, said Heappey’s remarks had the ‘potential to invite retaliatory attacks into Poland’.

He also warned that Russia could hit western targets outside Ukraine and told The Times that the West was becoming ‘increasingly involved in a proxy war’.

This comes after Boris Johnson last week announced that Britain will reopen its embassy in Kyiv two months after staff were evacuated as war broke out. The embassy is due to open this week ‘dependent on the security situation’.

Rematch: Dillian Whyte claims Tyson Fury cheated in their Fight

British boxer, Dillian Whyte has asked for a rematch of the fight between himself and the World Heavyweight Champion, Tyson Fury.

Whyte was knocked out by the undefeated Fury at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, April 23rd, 2022 in front of a record 94,000 people.

After bullying Whyte in the previous 5 rounds, Fury gave Whyte a left uppercut and then shoved him in the 6th round leaving Whyte dazed and unable to continue.

White now says Fury cheated and the match should be rearranged.

Speaking to Sky Sports he urged Fury to accept a rematch.

"This ain

“He full-on pushed me and I fell over and hit my head on the canvas, which is illegal. This ain’t wrestling, this is boxing. But, you know, you let Fury do what he wants and get away with it. I should have been allowed extra time to recover and then carry on fighting. When he pushed me, he went to the referee, don’t let the fight carry on. The referee isn’t doing his job. Okay, I got caught, no doubt about that, good shot. I didn’t go straight down, he full-on, two-handed pushed me. It was a terrible job from the referee, but it is what it is.” Whyte said

Fury has given a hint that he might retire from the sports following his victory over Whyte but that might not happen as a fight against the winner of the unification bout between Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk, could be tempting financially and prestige-wise to ignore.

US Govt Officials meet with President Zelenskyy in Ukraine (photos)

U.S. Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken and Defence Secretary, Lloyd Austin, paid a secrecy-shrouded visit to Kyiv, Ukriane’s capital on Sunday, April 24

Zelenskyy had announced Saturday that he would meet with the U.S. officials in Kyiv on Sunday, but the Biden administration refused to confirm that and declined to discuss details of a possible visit even though planning had been underway for more than a week.

In video of the meeting released on Monday, by Zelenskyy’s office, Blinken praises the Ukrainian leader for the “extraordinary courage and leadership and success that you’ve had in pushing back this horrific Russian aggression.”

“We got used to seeing you on video around the world, but it’s great, it’s good to see you in person,” Blinken says with a smile.

Blinken also said U.S. diplomats returning to Ukraine likely would restaff the consulate in Lviv, in western Ukraine, before returning to the capital.

Journalists who traveled with Austin and Blinken to Poland were barred from reporting on the trip until it ended. They weren’t allowed to accompany them on their train journey into Ukraine citing security concerns.

The trip by Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was the highest-level American visit to Ukraine’s capital since Russia invaded in late February.

Blinken said Russia is failing in its war aims and “Ukraine is succeeding.”

The top officials from Washington told Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskyy and his advisers that the U.S. would provide more than $300 million in foreign military financing, and had already approved a $165 million sale of ammunition.

“We had an opportunity to demonstrate directly our strong ongoing support for the Ukrainian government and the Ukrainian people. This was, in our judgment, an important moment to be there to have face-to-face conversations in detail,” Blinken told reporters Monday near the Polish-Ukrainian border, after returning from Kyiv.

Austin said Zelenskyy’s response to the aid was deep appreciation for what was being given, but “he has the mindset that they want to win and we have the mindset that we want to help them win.”

Lloyd said victory, from the U.S. perspective, would include seeing Russia “weakened” militarily.

Austin addrd at the news conference that “the world has been inspired” by Ukraine during the war, and that America would continue its support.

“What you’ve done in repelling the Russians in the battle of Kyiv is extraordinary,” he said.

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly set to sack manager Mauricio Pochettino less than 24 hours after winning the Ligue 1 title.

This is coming after PSG were crowned champions following their 1-1 draw with Lens on Saturday April 23.

Despite helping the French giants to win the league title, Pochettino and his players have come under intense scrutiny since their exit from the Champions League in the last-16.

The former Tottenham boss was in the running to become the next Manchester United manager, but the Red Devils decided to go for Erik ten Hag who will be taking over from Ralf Rangnick in the summer.

The Ajax manager taking over the reins at Old Trafford has left Pochettino in an uncertain position as he is set to become a free agent this summer as PSG are now negotiating the terms of his departure, according to Le Parisien.

The report suggests that Pochettino no longer wants to continue with the French giants, while the club also does not want the Argentine to stay as the club’s manager.

It’s claimed that PSG will need to pay a fee of £12.6m in order to sack Pochettino and his coaching staff, who have one year left on their contracts.

The French newspaper also claim Tottenham manager Antonio Conte is willing to move to Paris on a two-year deal.

Napoli football club wants €80m (£67.4m) before they can consider selling Victor Osimhen

Napoli football club of Italy want at least €80m (£67.4m) before they can consider selling Victor Osimhen.

Multiple reports in England say that Osimhen is among the many strikers Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in this summer.

According to Goal and Sun UK, Arsenal are interested in the Nigerian striker but want to be sure about the investment even though they have paid that kind of fee before, for Nicolas Pepe.

Osimhen has scored 16 goals and assisted five in 27 games in all competitions this season despite having a cheekbone fracture and covid-19 which made him miss games from November to mid-January including the AFCON tournament.

Another report by CBS Sports, states that Arsenal had been extensively scouting Osimhen and Lautaro Martinez in Serie A. They added that the Gunners are searching for a young but experienced and consistent goalscorer.

Napoli putting a price tag of €80m for Osimhen is no surprise as that’s the price they paid to buy him from Lille.

There are questions over Putin’s health (photos)

Russia has been accused of faking President Vladimir Putin’s Easter service visit by ‘using old pictures from 2021’ amid questions over his health

The images, purportedly taken one year apart, appear to show Putin dressed in the same suit and look extremely similar. The only difference is the colour of his tie.

Putin is believed to have attended the midnight Easter service to mark Orthodox Easter on Sunday morning – April 24 – alongside Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin at Moscow’s huge gold-encrusted Christ the Saviour Cathedral.

But images and video footage from the event have raised questions with many suggesting the new clips were faked from last year’s service on May 2, 2021.

It comes after footage last week appeared to show Putin ”bloated and slouching at a meeting with the Russian defence minister Sergei Shoigu, who also seemed fragile and appeared to slur his words as he read a short statement to the President,” Daily Mail reports

The footage sparked rumours Putin is suffering considerable health problems.

Russia accused of faking Putin

There are only subtle differences in lighting and the colour of Putin’s tie between both sets of images from the Easter service, prompting suggestions that the images have been manipulated.

‘Putin is standing in the same suit and with the same candle as on May 2, 2021,’ reported Russian outlet The Village.

‘This is evidenced by a photo report from the temple on the Kremlin website.’

Opposition investigative media Agentstvo also claimed that this year’s footage of Putin attending the ceremony, an appearance he makes annually,  seemed to have been distorted.

‘In the broadcast of the Easter service from the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, Putin seemed to disappear for a moment,’ said the outlet.

‘This happened during the switching of shots, from a close-up with the president to a more general one…

‘The place where Putin should be seems to be empty.’

Russia accused of faking Putin

The claims were set upon by Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs adviser Anton Herashchenko, who said: ‘Putin’s directors were again caught using video editing and [manipulation].

‘This time at the broadcast of the Easter service.’

Telegram channel Mozhem Obyasnit (We Can Explain) posted: ‘Putin-2022 at the service in the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour is almost indistinguishable from Putin-2021.

‘Social media users, having studied the photos, doubted that the President attended a public event.’

The channel urged followers to ‘spot the difference’ between Putin this year and last.

‘Putin has the same hairstyle, almost the same facial expression, the same candle,’ said Mozhem Obyasnit.

‘Both are on the same background in the same aisle of the cathedral.

‘True, in 2021 Putin was sometimes shown against the backdrop of parishioners and priests, but this year, for some reason, they did not do this.

‘Social media users conclude that reports of Putin’s participation in this public event at the height of the war are illustrated with pictures from a peaceful 2021.’

Breaking! Twitter accepts Elon Musk’s offer the company for $44 Billion

Twitter’s board has accepted an offer from billionaire Elon Musk to buy the social media company and take it private, the company announced on Monday, April 25.

“Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,” Musk said as he confirmed the deal in a statement included in the press release announcing the $44 billion deal. “I also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots, and authenticating all humans. Twitter has tremendous potential – I look forward to working with the company and the community of users to unlock it.”

The cash deal at $54.20 per share is valued at around $44 billion, according to the press release. Twitter will become a private company once the deal is complete.

Twitter shareholders will receive $54.20 in cash for each share of Twitter common stock that they own upon closing of the transaction. The purchase price represents a 38 percent premium to the company’s closing price on April 1, the day before Musk announced he had amassed a 9 percent stake in the company.

Musk said he wanted to make Twitter “better than ever” by introducing new features, making its algorithms open source, stamping out bots and authenticating “all humans”.

He added: “Twitter has tremendous potential — I look forward to working with the company and the community of users to unlock it.”

After Musk first made his offer for the platform on April 14, Twitter launched a poison pill to limit his ability to build a substantial shareholding. But the board was forced to the negotiating table at the weekend after he unveiled a $46.5bn financing package for the deal.

“The Twitter Board conducted a thoughtful and comprehensive process to assess Elon’s proposal with a deliberate focus on value, certainty, and financing,” said Bret Taylor, Twitter chair.

He added: “The proposed transaction will deliver a substantial cash premium, and we believe it is the best path forward for Twitter’s stockholders.” If completed, the deal would be one of the largest leveraged buyouts on record.

Republicans are hopeful that the deal could pave the way for Donald Trump to return to the platform after the former president was banned for repeatedly breaching its rules around hate speech and misinformation.

“I hope that even my worst critics remain on Twitter, because that is what free speech means,” Musk tweeted earlier on Monday.

Finland and Sweden Govts ‘agree to both apply for NATO membership next month despite threats from Putin

The governments of Sweden and Finland have agreed to submit NATO applications at the same time next month despite threats from the Russian Govt.

Two newspapers, one Swedish, the other Finnish, confirmed the news.

Finnish newspaper Iltalehti said that the Swedish government has expressed a wish to Finland that they apply together in the week starting May 22 and Swedish government sources confirmed the information to Sweden’s Expressen tabloid.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has led to growing support in Sweden and Finland for joining NATO.

Sweden first made its intention to apply for NATO membership on April 13, in a move that infuriated Moscow lawmakers.

Sources told Sweden’s SVD newspaper about the move on the same day that fellow neutral neighbour Finland started its debate on joining NATO after days of speculation it would do so.

Sweden’s prime minister Magdalena Andersson is understood to be eager for the country to join the trans-Atlantic alliance by June, to the fury of Vladimir Putin who invaded Ukraine in part for its desire to join to the pact.

Over the years, Finland, along with neighboring Sweden, have historically avoided NATO membership, despite close alignment with the West, in an effort not to provoke Russia.

The Swedish application was previously expected to be submitted by the NATO meeting in Madrid on June 29-20, according to Swedish reports earlier this month, but the latest information reported in the Swedish and Finnish press suggests this date may be brought forward.

Finland is also hoping to start its application process ‘within weeks, not within months’, its prime minister Sanna Marin said on April 13.

This comes despite Moscow lawmaker Vladimir Dzhabarov warning it would mean ‘the destruction of the country’.

Osama bin Laden was planning another terror attack on the US after 9/11 – his documents proved

Infamous terrorist, Osama bin Laden planned to attack the US with charter jets and train derailments after 9/11, papers obtained by US Navy Seals after his assassination have revealed.

The documents gotten after bin Laden’s 2011 execution by the US military, revealed how he encouraged that private jets, rather than passenger planes, be used after the September 2001 attacks which shocked the whole world.

Bin Laden, a trained engineer with the CIA also encouraged his followers to cut 12 meters from train tracks in the US in order to kill hundreds.

The plot was previously mentioned in 2011, when it was claimed bin Laden had been hoping to send a packed train careening off a bridge into a valley.

‘Rather than hijack a plane, operatives should charter one for their next attack on the U.S. If that’s too difficult, they should target U.S. railways,’ Osama bin Laden wrote in a letter to he head of al Qaeda’s international terror unit, Islamic scholar Nelly Lahoud explained during a 60 Minutes interview that aired Sunday, April 24, on CBS.

‘He wanted to have 12 meters (40 feet) of steel rail removed so that, this way, the train could be derailed,’ Lahoud . ‘And we find him, explaining the simple toolkit that they could use.’

‘You could use a compressor. You could use a smelting iron tool,’ bin Laden instructed his followers while giving specifics on how to cut out bits of track.

Osama bin Laden planned a second terror attack on the US after 9/11: Papers taken by Navy SEALs after they killed him at his compound reveal

Thousands of bin Laden’s personal letters and notes were confiscated 11 years ago by a team of two dozen Navy SEALs sent to Pakistan to capture and kill the terrorist.

The letters were declassified by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency in 2017.

Lahoud says she has been studying the documents ‘line by line’ for several years.

She argued bin Laden was surprised at America’s reaction to the series of airline hijackings that took the lives of nearly 3,000 people on September 11, 2001.

‘Al Qaeda did not anticipate that the United States would go to war,’ Lahoud said of bin Laden’s letters.

He reportedly thought the U.S. would respond with a ‘limited airstrike,’ but did not suspect it ‘would go beyond that.’

‘He thought that the American people would take to the streets, replicate the anti-Vietnam war protests and they would put pressure on their government to withdraw from Muslim majority states,’ she explained.

The letters also revealed that in November 2002, when U.S. intelligence officials were concerned that Al Qaeda was planning ‘spectacular attacks’ that would result in ‘mass casualties,’ bin Laden was hiding and ‘absolutely not’ running the terrorist group, Lahoud alleged.

‘He’s very eager to replicate the 9/11 attacks in the United States,’ she says of the letters he penned in 2004. ‘You know he is mindful that now the security conditions are very difficult at airports.’

‘The weakness, failure, and aimlessness that befell us were harrowing. We Muslims were defiled and desecrated. Our state was ripped asunder, our lands were occupied, our resources were plundered,’ a young Al Qaeda associated named Tawfiq wrote to bin Laden at the time.

‘I’m gonna tell you the truth as it is. And I know that some of the brothers here are not telling you everything in detail because they don’t want to upset you, particularly because of the delicate situations in which you find yourself with…’

Donald Trump predicts that Meghan Markle’s marriage to Prince Harry will “end bad”

Former President Donald Trump has said that Prince Harry is “whipped” and has also predicted that his marriage to Meghan Markle will “end bad.”

The ex-President blasted the couple’s high profile relationship during a sit down with Piers Morgan in his exclusive TalkTV interview which will air on Monday evening, April 25.

In the interview, Mr Trump said that the former royals’ marriage is a ticking time bomb, which will blow up when “Harry decides he’s had enough of being bossed around.”

The Sun reported that the former president said that Ms Markle might leave Harry “when she decides that she likes some other guy better”.

“I’m not a fan of Meghan, and I wasn’t from the beginning. Poor Harry is being led around by his nose. And I think he’s an embarrassment,” he was quoted as saying.

Here are excerpts from the interview;

Donald Trump: So I want to know what’s going to happen when Harry decides he’s had enough of being bossed around. Or maybe when she decides that she likes some other guy better. I want to know what’s going to happen when it ends, okay.

Piers Morgan: You think it’s gonna end?

DT: I do. I’ve been a very good predictor, as you know. I predicted almost everything. It’ll end and it’ll end bad. And I wonder if Harry’s gonna go back on his hands and knees back into the beautiful city of London and say, please. You know, I think Harry has been led down a path.

DT: I’m not a fan of Meghan, and I wasn’t from the beginning. Poor Harry is being led around by his nose. And I think he’s an embarrassment. And I think when she spoke badly of the Royal Family, but in particular the Queen you know, I met the Queen. It was supposed to be for 20 minutes.

PM: I saw you just after you saw her.

DT: Right. It was supposed to be just a quick meeting. And it was beautiful. The pomp and ceremony, nobody does it like the English I don’t know what it is. But nobody does it.

PM: We have a certain style.

DT: But I met her and it turned out to be more than an hour, substantially, because she liked me and I liked her and she let it be known. She liked me and I let it be known.

PM: You know, here’s my issue with it. I think that they’ve quit the country, they quit royal duty, they’re living in luxury and California. They want to use their royal titles to exploit them for massive financial gain. Without any of the duty that comes with the royal titles. I don’t think you can have your royal cake and eat it. That’s my argument about it.

PM: When I heard he wasn’t going to Prince Philip’s memorial…

DT: Terrible…

PM: I couldn’t believe that he would not  go to that. He was at the Super Bowl. He was at a Texas rodeo. But he couldn’t find time to get on a plane.

DT: It was a terrible thing, many terrible things that might have been, as you mentioned, that, that might have been the worst of all, because he was, you know, like her. He was a tough cookie, too.

PM: When he died. I think it was a devastating moment for the Queen.

DT: I think they had a great relationship. But he was a strong guy and never forget a little moment, right? And he just said, ‘No, you move back’. And he didn’t say it in a nice way. Because the photographer was pushing everybody around a little bit foolishly. But I thought it was terrible when Harry didn’t go to the memorial of Prince Philip. Yeah, I think the Harry situation is going to unfold in a much different way.

PM: If you were the Queen, is it at the stage now, would you remove their royal titles?

DT: I would. The only thing I disagree with the Queen on probably one of the only things ever is that I think she should have said, if that’s your choice, fine. But you no longer have titles, you know, and frankly, don’t come around where you’re just, because her loyalty is to the country. She said that many times. Her loyalty is to the country. And I think that he has been so disrespectful to the country, and it’s a great country. I own a lot of things there. I own a place called Turnberry and in Aberdeen I own and, I mean we have Aberdeen is beautiful the oil capital of Europe and I own things there and I love that country. It’s incredible, in Scotland, I love Turnberry, I love what I did there. I built things there.

DT: Harry is whipped. Do you know the expression?

PM: I’m familiar with the phrase.

DT: I won’t use the full expression but Harry is whipped like no person I think I’ve ever seen.

PM: The most whipped man in the world.

DT: I dunno, that’s gonna be a big one, but he is a whipped man.

This is not the first time that the former president has taken a swipe at the Duchess. Earlier in December he had claimed that she had been “disrespectful” to the British royal family and insisted that Prince Harry has been “used horribly”.

The full segment of “Piers Morgan Uncensored” is scheduled to air on the Fox Nation streaming service. The chat had already grabbed headlines after Morgan said Trump walked out of the interview when the British journalist confronted him on his election “lies.” Morgan called him “pathological.”

Ruined Russian submarine was loaded with nuclear-capable missiles – new photos show

Leaked photos have shown nuclear-capable Kalibr missiles being loaded onto a Russian submarine for a possible attack against Ukraine.

Lethal Kalibr strategic missiles were spotted being put onto a Veliky Novogorod diesel-electric submarine, which is thought to be heading to Ukraine to potentially be used in the invasion.

Ukraine Now Telegram channel said in its report;

“Russian Kalibr-type cruise missiles were loaded onto the Veliky Novgorod diesel-electric submarine – the very ones bombing the peaceful cities of Ukraine”

The loading several days ago came ahead of a mission by the submarine in the Black Sea.

Ukraine’s Yug operation command said: “By blocking shipping, conducting surface situation detection and aerial reconnaissance, [the Russians] continue to carry the threat of a missile attack on almost the entire territory of Ukraine.”

Leaked photos shows Russian submarine loaded with nuclear-capable missiles

Russian defence minister Sergey Shoigu has boasted that deployment in Syria from the Caspian Sea “confirmed a high effectiveness of the missiles at major distances of nearly 1500 km (932 miles).”

It comes after a new British submarine worth £1 billion loaded up with missiles in a warning to Putin. The Kalibr can carry both nuclear and conventional warheads.

Conventional warheads are believed to be on the pier where the submarine is tethered in Sevastopol, in Crimea, annexed from Ukraine in 2014. The Kalibr has already been used in the current war to target Ukraine.

The missile is however prone to misfiring as seen last year from a warship on Russia ’s Pacific coast.

A video showed how a missile fired from frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov rose, and rotated alarmingly before crashing into the sea.

A voice of an officer making the film from the air is heard saying “Look, the sea is burning”.Eventually the Kalibr missile burned out in the Pacific Ocean, as the warship sped away.

Following a ballistic missile launch on Wednesday, Putin issued a chilling warning to the West as he boasted of a “big, significant event” for Russian defence.

The Russian leader referred to the Sarmat ICBMs ballistic missile which could be launched by this autumn, with the ability to travel 11,000 miles and carry 10 or more nuclear warheads.

Putin also announced that the Sarmat will “ensure Russia’s security from external threats and make those who try to threaten our country with aggressive rhetoric think twice.”

Twitter considers selling their social media platform to Elon Musk

Twitter’s board reportedly met Elon Musk over the weekend to discuss his $43bn (£33.6bn) offer to buy the social media platform.

After Musk first revealed his bid, Twitter’s management announced a “poison pill” strategy to push off a potential hostile buyout.

A takeover bid is considered to be hostile when a person or business tries to take over another company against the wishes of the target firm’s management hence a ‘poison pill’ is adopted.

The move stops anyone from having more than a 15% stake in the company by allowing others to buy additional shares in the firm at a discount.

Musk, who owns a more than 9% stake in Twitter, has lined up a $46.5bn financing package for his bid, according to a regulatory filing.

Musk says he plans to finance his bid with his personal money and also the backing of US lender Morgan Stanley and other financial institutions.

And details of how Musk was planning to secure his funding made Twitter’s 11-member board seriously consider a possible deal, according to Reuters, the New York Times and Bloomberg  reports on Sunday night, April 24.

The reports add that after Musk’s disclosure of his plans for the social media platform, a number of Twitter shareholders reportedly contacted the company’s board urged it not to miss the opportunity for a potential deal.

Who stole Peter Obi’s phone?

Not quite long ago, I told a story of how HE Peter Obi stopped his convoy at a very dangerous spot along the road from Four Corner, leading into Udi Hills in Enugu State. He sighted a Siena vehicle parked awkwardly few metres into the bush with a woman behind the steering and stopped his convoy that was in full speed, ordering a reverse to know if the woman was being kidnapped, robbed or needed any kind of help. Incidentally, the woman needed none. She came with two others to harvest from the farm and relieved, he instructed that we continued on our journey home to Onitsha.

Remember I also said that if that was an ambush that there could have been sad tales.

That’s the danger this great man we also call Okwute subjects himself to on daily basis because of his love for mankind.

If you truly love this man, you’ll definitely worry about his safety any time you are privileged to go to any function with him on close basis. Particularly at airports, the number of people always wishing to take selfies with him should ever alarm a security-conscious person.

I love this man because he is just one of his kind. There’s none other and his ways are exceptionally unique. Everytime I see him mix up freely with strangers in public my mind asks, what if? Luckily, there has never been if…

His love for people… his idea that leaders must not be disconnected from the people they’re leading…that’s why he reduced the 22-convoy vehicles he inherited as governor to just four…that’s why he rejected any bulletproof vehicle as governor but instead used the money budgeted for two bulletproof jeeps in the budget he inherited to purchase brand new 406 Peugeot vehicles for judges, magistrates, permanent secretaries and other civil servants in their ranks…that’s why he equally used one of those 406 Peugeot vehicles as his official car… that’s why he flies economy class… that’s why he carries his bags by himself to anywhere… that’s why he wears simple clothes…that’s why he has only two pairs of shoes… that’s why he does many things that simply connect him genuinely with the people. And those are part of the reasons I say that he came far ahead of his generation.

And ultimately, that’s why the same people he loves could get close enough, posing as admirers, to steal his phone.

But today he’s left Anambra horizon and onto the national politcal grid. His aspiration to become the president is not only real but garnering incredible momentum. He is already being attacked from all angles by both aspirants from his own party and across parties, from envious creeds within his own state to enemies across board. He’s the man to beat and the falsehood to smear an otherwise immaculate administrator is mounting.

Who stole his phone? Why was it stolen?

These are questions I have been asking. And I then ask the ultimate – WILL THIS FINALLY MAKE THIS MAN TO BE MORE CAUTIOUS? Will he finally allow the security men officially assigned to him to do their jobs of protecting him henceforth anywhere he goes?

I pray he does see reasons now to reduce my worries about his safety even when I am not on his entourage. People who love him and are close enough should help beg him to take matters of his personal security seriously. Anybody who can hurt you psychologically by telling unimaginable lies against you to damage a reputation you laboured assiduously to build since childhood will not blink an eyelid to hurt you physically.

I know just having your phone stolen wouldn’t make you change your ways towards mankind. It’s not in your character. But just being more cautious will assure your numerous followers even more.

President Emmanuel Macron wins second term, defeats far-right leader, Marine Le Pen

French President Emmanuel Macron won re-election on Sunday, convincingly defeating his rival Marine Le Pen and prompting a wave of relief in Europe that the far-right had been kept out of power.

Centrist Macron was set to win around 58 percent of the vote in the second-round run-off compared with Le Pen on 42 percent, according to projections by polling firms for French television channels based on a sample of the vote count.

Macron is the first French president to win a second term for two decades, but Le Pen’s result also marks the closest the far-right has ever come to taking power in France and has revealed a deeply divided nation.

The 44-year-old president faces a litany of challenges in his second term, starting with parliamentary elections in June, where keeping a majority will be critical to ensuring he can realise his ambitions to reform France. The outcome was expected to be confirmed by official results overnight with the final figures due on Monday.

Police in Paris have opened fire on a vehicle that tried to hit them

Police in Paris have opened fire on a vehicle that tried to hit them – killing two occupants and injuring a third, according to local media.

The incident happened near the Pont Neuf – in the centre of the French capital – on Sunday night.

It is believed that the vehicle’s driver, and a passenger sitting in the front seat, were those who died.

A woman who was sat in the back seat has been taken to hospital – and reports suggest bullets hit her arm.

A witness told Le Figaro newspaper: “A car was parked in the wrong direction along the Vert-Galant square on the Pont Neuf, the police approached to control the individuals present in the vehicle by pointing automatic weapons at him.

“The driver rushed off towards the police at full speed. The police fired immediately.”

Zelensky threatens to quit peace talks with Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed on Saturday what kind of events might force his country to withdraw from peace negotiations with Moscow.

During a press conference held at one of Kiev’s metro stations amid the ongoing Russian offensive in Ukraine, Zelensky was asked how Kiev would respond to potential independence referendums in the territories controlled by Russian forces. The president insisted that it would force him to stop any talks with Moscow.

“If our people are destroyed in Mariupol, if a referendum, a pseudo-referendum, is announced in any new pseudo-republics of Ukraine, Ukraine will withdraw from any negotiations process,” Zelensky said.

Two days ago, Moscow announced the capture of Mariupol. However, President Vladimir Putin called off the assault on the Azovstal factory, which remains the last holdout of Ukrainian forces, including the fighters of the neo-Nazi Azov regiment, in the strategic port city.

Russian troops should “seal the area so that a fly cannot get through,” Putin instead ordered. Zelensky, meanwhile, admitted that at the moment Ukraine is not able to recapture Mariupol militarily and that the holed-up fighters there are aware of that.

Zelensky reiterated his wish to conduct direct talks with Vladimir Putin, as “the war can be stopped by the person who started it.” He explained that, as he thinks, direct negotiations could be a more effective way to reach peace than speaking via mediators.

“I want to stop the war and end it. There is a diplomatic path and a military one. Any healthy person chooses the diplomatic path because he knows that even if it is difficult, it can prevent the loss of millions of people,” Zelensky said.

Putin, meanwhile, has not ruled out a personal meeting with Zelensky, but stressed that it would depend on the progress of talks between the negotiating teams.

Commenting on the upcoming visit by UN Security General Antonio Guterres to Moscow, Zelensky claimed that it is not logical that he would travel to Russia before speaking to Kiev, but the Ukrainian leader expressed his readiness to conduct talks with Guterres as well.

Ukraine’s conditions for a peace settlement, according to Zelensky, remain the same: security guarantees for Kiev and “the fate of Donbass and Crimea,” the independence of which Kiev has categorically refused to recognize.

“I think there are no more issues,” he said.
Meanwhile, Zelensky said, the Ukrainian forces would keep fighting and, depending on weapons supplies from the West, will be recapturing territories which had been captured by the Russian forces.

“My position as president is: whatever they [Russian forces] occupy, we will return. It will not be a matter of 8 years, like from 2014, it will be immediate. This is a matter of weapons. If we have enough of them, we will immediately begin to recapture the occupied territory,” he said.

Russia has repeatedly warned NATO against sending arms to Ukraine and stated that it would consider arms convoys to be legitimate military targets. It also says that “pumping up” Ukraine with weapons will only lead to more casualties.

Since the launch of Russia’s military offensive on Ukraine, Moscow and Kiev have accused each other of hampering civilian evacuations, as well as committing war crimes and violating international law. Several rounds of peace negotiations have not yielded any significant progress.

Russia attacked the neighboring state in late February, following Ukraine’s failure to implement the terms of the Minsk agreements, first signed in 2014, and Moscow’s eventual recognition of the Donbass republics of Donetsk and Lugansk. The German and French brokered protocols were designed to give the breakaway regions special status within the Ukrainian state.

The Kremlin has since demanded that Ukraine officially declare itself a neutral country that will never join the US-led NATO military bloc. Kiev insists the Russian offensive was completely unprovoked and has denied claims it was planning to retake the two republics by force.

Spain issues arrest warrant for Tinder scammer, Simon Leviev

Tinder Swindler, Simon Leviev may face prison in Spain after an arrest warrant was issued for the Netflix conman.

Leviev, born Shimon Hayut, has already served time in his native Israel after being arrested for using a false passport in Greece.

The Tinder Swindler’s use of a fake passport in Greece saw him extradited to Israel in 2019 where he faced charges for fraud, theft, and forgery. He was sentenced to 15 months in prison but only served five months in the end after being released for good behaviour.

According to Mail Online,  the 31-year-old is being probed over the use of a fake driving licence after getting his £80,000 Maserati stuck on a Spanish beach during a day out with a mystery Russian blonde.

Spain issues arrest warrant for Tinder Swindler Simon Leviev

He told cops he was a holidaymaker called Michael Bilton and according to police, produced the false licence in one of the aliases he is known to have used.

A police officer specialised in spotting falsified documents identified the bogus diamond trader, who met women on Tinder before allegedly conning them out of millions, as the wealthy Costa tourist after watching the hit Netflix show.

Cops have now asked a court in the southern Spanish port city of Algeciras to reopen a criminal investigation against the man they now know to be Leviev after it was launched against Bilton.

Leviev, who is believed to be dating Israeli model Kate Konlin, has denied swindling the women he met on Tinder out of any money and insists he is a legitimate businessman who made his fortune by investing in Bitcoin.

Putin promotes the Officer who autorised the massacre and mass rapes in Bucha, Ukraine

A senior Russian officer dubbed the ‘Butcher of Bucha’ has been promoted by President Vladimir Putin for overseeing several atrocities in the Ukrainian town.

Commander Azatbek Omurbekov has been promoted from Lieutenant Colonel to full Colonel despite men under his command being accused of gang rape, torture, and mass civilian executions.

The Russian officer, who led the 64th Separate Motorised Rifle Brigade, was identified as Putin’s senior commander in Bucha when the atrocities were uncovered.

Ukraine specifically identified members of his brigade as responsible for murders in Bucha where the Russian forces were also accused of weaponising rape.

The reason for this promotion to full colonel is not clear. But the report hailed his perceived success in Ukraine.

‘The separate motorised rifle brigade under the command of Colonel Azatbek Omurbekov carried out the task of occupying a defensive line,’ said the newspaper.

‘In the course of capturing the designated boundary, the enemy numbering up to a battalion was defeated, and more than 40 pieces of equipment destroyed.

‘The Nationalist unit lost all combat capability and was no longer involved in combat operations.

‘Within three weeks, under the leadership of Colonel Omurbekov, brigade units at the occupied line repelled more than 50 attacks by the enemy using tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and heavy artillery.’

He and his men are reportedly now fighting in the Donbas.

Ukrainian reporter Evgeny Spirin said of the scenes in Bucha: ‘Some of the killed children had their arms tied up.

‘Children…. They were tying up children. There were shooting dogs. Killed women. Girls younger than ten with their vaginas torn apart….

‘How to live with this, and is it worth living at all? How do I explain this to myself, how? They must cease to exist.

‘They must all be destroyed, each and every one of them, turned into dust, into mud, into clay, all of them.’

Omurbekov and his unit are from Khabarovsk, in the far east of Russia.

‘Guns’ is the leading killer of children in US – New research finds

A new research has found out that guns overtook car crashes to become the leading cause of death for US children and teenagers in 2020.

According to new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), over 4,300 young Americans died of firearm-related injuries in 2020.

The study found out that even though suicides contributed to the toll, the homicides form the majority of gun-related deaths.

In the US over 390 million guns are owned by civilians with Americans mostly Republicans being staunch believers in gun rights and America’s gun culture .

According to the research – which was published Thursday, April 21 in the New England Journal Medicine – the rise in gun-related deaths among Americans between the ages of one and 19 was part of an overall 33.4% increase in firearm homicides nationwide.

Over the same time period, the rate of firearm suicides in the US rose by 1.1%.

The overall rate of gun deaths of all reasons – suicide, homicide, unintentional and undetermined – among children and teenagers rose by 29.5%, more than twice that of the wider population.

“We continue to fail to protect our youth from a preventable cause of death,” said a research letter published in the journal on Thursday.

The reasons for the increase are unclear,” the research letter said. “It cannot be assumed that firearm-related mortality will later revert to pre-pandemic levels”.

A separate study, published in the Annals of Internal Medicine in February, found that 7.5 million US adults – just under 3% of the population – became first-time gun owners during the pandemic between January and April 2021.

The rate of gun-related deaths per 100,000 residents rose among both men and women and across ethnic demographics between 2019 and 2020, with the largest increase among black Americans, the research showed.

In previous years, gun-related deaths were second only to car crashes as the leading cause of death among young Americans. Car deaths, however, have fallen over time and in 2020 approximately 3,900 Americans under 19 died in vehicle crashes.

While cases of drug overdoses and poisonings rose 83.6% between 2019 and 2020.

Drug overdoses and poisoning are now the third leading cause of death in that age group. A separate study published earlier in April found that 954 young people died of overdoses in 2020, compared to 492 in 2019.

Russia details plans to seize Ukraine’s entire south coast to create a land corridor to Moldova

Russia has outlined plans to seize the entire Donbas and the south of Ukraine in the second phase of its offensive to create a land corridor stretching to Moldova.

The deputy commander of Russia’s central military district, Rustam Minnekayev, said Russia planned to forge a corridor between Crimea, the Black Sea peninsula which Russia annexed in 2014, and the Donbas in eastern Ukraine.

Mariupol sits between areas held by Russian separatists and Crimea and its capture would allow Russia to link the two areas.

It comes as Russia continues to pound the Donbas, striking 58 targets overnight, but the Kremlin is still suffering heavy blows with claims their death toll has risen to 30,000.

Minnekayev said taking control of southern Ukraine would improve Russian access to Moldova’s pro-Russian breakaway region of Transdniestria, which borders Ukraine and which Kyiv fears could be used as a launching pad for new attacks.

Kyiv earlier this month said that an airfield in the region was being prepared to receive aircraft and could be used by Moscow to fly in Ukraine-bound troops.

‘Control over the south of Ukraine is another way to Transdniestria, where there is also evidence that the Russian-speaking population is being oppressed,’ TASS quoted Minnekayev as saying at a meeting in Russia’s central Sverdlovsk region.

Ukraine’s Defence Ministry denounced the plans announced by Russia to take full control of Donbas and southern Ukraine as ‘imperialism’.

‘They stopped hiding it,’ the ministry said on Twitter. It said Russia had ‘acknowledged that the goal of the ‘second phase’ of the war is not victory over the mythical Nazis, but simply the occupation of eastern and southern Ukraine. Imperialism as it is.’

Elsewhere in Ukraine today, at least one person died and two were injured when a transport plane crashed over the centre of the country, the latest incident involving accident-prone Soviet-era aircraft.

‘An AN-26 aircraft, which according to preliminary information belonged to Ukraine, crashed today in the vicinity of Mikhailovka in the Zaporizhzhia region,’ the region’s administration wrote in a statement on social media.

‘The aircraft was performing a technical flight. It has been established that one person was killed and two more were injured.’

Crew numbers and the cause of the crash were being investigated, the statement added.

Naked man was cycling around the a street in UK

A naked cyclist, spotted by multiple people cycling around the streets in the nude, has defended his lifestyle after videos of him were shared online.

The naked cyclist had been spotted riding along the roads of Derbyshire, UK, with several sightings and a handful of witnesses talking of their shock when seeing the man ride through the area.

"I

One witness, Jade Meadows, 20, described what she saw as a “pale, naked man on a bike,” and the identity had remained a mystery until the man came forward and identified himself.

Stuart Gilmour, a naturalist from the village of Fenny Bentley near Ashbourne, claimed to be the nude cyclist and was bemused by the speculation around why he was cycling in the nude.

Gilmour said: “I’m a naturist who just loves to be able to experience everyday life without the restrictions of clothing, promoting body positivity, embracing the individuality that is our bodies, showing people it’s ok to be different whether that be size, shape or colour and the general wellbeing it can give you.

“But most of all it’s meeting so many new people and making new friends while cycling. If I was clothed no one bothers you, you just ride past, but when in the buff people are just genuinely intrigued and want to know more.”

Gilmour said the attention he received from the nude cycling has prompted him to plan a naked bike ride, DerbyshireLive reports.

He said: “I had no idea this would get so much attention – I’m genuinely shocked. I’m always cycling on Rochdale Canal or around Manchester and never had this kind of interest before.

“This wasn’t for charity this time but I am planning a naked bike ride from Manchester to Chester possibly on to North Wales in the summer to raise money for a cancer charity my wife Karen Gilmour works for.”

Former Honduran President, Hernandez, has been extradited to U.S. on drug charges

A disgraced former Honduran president was on Thursday April 21, extradited to the U.S. to face drug and arms charges.

Juan Orlando Hernández, the once-powerful former president, was handcuffed as he boarded an airplane with agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration to face legal proceedings in New York City.

He faces a three-count indictment charging drug importation and weapons offenses.

In court documents, U.S. prosecutors alleged Hernandez was involved in a “corrupt and violent drug-trafficking conspiracy to facilitate the importation of tons of cocaine into the United States.”

Prosecutors charge that Hernandez received millions of dollars from drug cartels, including from notorious Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman. They allege he used the money to finance his political campaigns and engaged in voter fraud in the 2013 and 2017 Honduran presidential elections.

Ex-Honduran President Hernandez, handcuffed, extradited to U.S. on drug charges

Hernández was arrested at his home in Tegucigalpa in February at the request of U.S. authorities. He was shackled and paraded in front of journalists, a sight many Hondurans never imagined seeing.

Honduras’ Supreme Court rejected his appeal of a judge’s decision in favor of extradition.

U.S. prosecutors have accused Hernández of fueling his political rise with money from drug traffickers. The payments were  allegedly made in exchange for Honduran authorities allowing them to operate or for information helping them to evade interdiction.

Hernández has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing. In a video message released Thursday, he said, “I am innocent; I have been and I am being unjustly subjected to prosecution.”

He has said he is the victim of drug traffickers he extradited who are now lying to seek revenge.

Henry Osorto Canales, a retired National Police commissioner who is now an analyst, said that while the extradition was an embarrassment for Honduras, it was also a historic day.

“This is a start because it has begun with the largest political piece that the country had and logically the rest of the pieces are going to fall, at least those closest (to Hernández),” Osorto said.

Hernández’s brother Tony Hernández, a former congressman, was sentenced to life in prison in the same U.S. court on essentially the same charges.

Juan Orlando Hernández took office in January 2014 and held the presidency until this January, when Xiomara Castro was sworn in as his replacement. Castro campaigned on rooting out Honduras’ corruption and Hernández was seen as the largest target.

On Wednesday, Honduras’ Supreme Court denied an appeal from the former chief of the National Police, Juan Carlos Bonilla Valladares, better known as “El Tigre” or “The Tiger.” He was arrested after Hernández at the request of U.S. prosecutors on similar charges and is expected to be extradited in the coming weeks.

U.S. prosecutors allege Bonilla assisted the movement of tons of cocaine through Honduras, working with Hernández and his brother Tony Hernández, both co-conspirators in the case in the Southern District of New York.

Twerking Zambian student maybe jailed for 3 years in Russia (Video)

A 21-year-old Zambian student identified as Rebecca Ziba has been arrested in Russia for twerking at a war memorial.

In a video the student posted on social media, she can be seen twerking next to a World War II memorial in Khanty-Mansiysk.

“Shaking ass for the dead, I’m sure they are sleeping well tonight.” she captioned the video.

Russian investigators have described her actions as “obscene” and “insulting”. They have also labelled the caption in the video as “offensive”.

Ziba has been charged under Part 4 of Art. 354.1 of the Criminal Code, which accuses a person of “rehabilitating Nazism”

The charge attracts three years in prison.

A second video released by Russian Investigative Committee, shows Ziba sitting in what appears to be an interrogation room.

In the video, the Zambian national apologized for her actions, adding that she wouldn’t have posted the video if she knew its magnitude.

“I want to apologise to everyone for the video that I posted on the 16th of April. Without knowledge of knowing what it meant and who it was going to hurt or upset, I posted a video of me dancing on a monument,” she said.

“The video that I posted, I didn’t intend it to be offensive, neither did I mean it to offend anyone or to be disrespectful to those people that died. And because I did not know what exactly it meant, I never thought it would be this big. I am very very very sorry to everyone, I didn’t know. And if I knew I wasn’t ever going to post it. I hope I am understood and forgiven.”

Nicolas Cage and his Japanese wife, reveals gender of his first child

Hollywood actor, Nicolas Cage has revealed the gender of his first child with his wife, Riko Shibata.

‘I’m gonna have a little girl,’ the 58-year-old actor announced during his appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Thursday, April 12.

Cage also disclosed that he and Shibata, 27, have decided to name their daughter, Lennon Augie, after the late John Lennon and Cage’s late father August ‘Augie’ Coppola.

Explaining the meaning behind the name, Cage recalled how his disc jockey father would blast The Beatles’ Let It Be album, particularly the song Across The Universe, at his radio station.

When the National Treasure star heard the song for the very first time at just four-years-old, he was left ‘frozen, paralyzed by the music.’

Since then, Across The Universe – which was penned by John Lennon has remained Cage’s ‘favorite song ever written’ and holds a special place in his heart.

‘Because of Across The Universe, her name is gonna be Lennon Augie, Augie after my father,’ he announced.

Cage noted that he expects he’ll be calling his daughter ‘Lenny for short.’

He continued: ‘I’m thrilled. It’s going to be the biggest adventure of my life [being a girl dad]’

Cage and Shibata revealed in January that they were expecting their first child, and Cage’s third, after Weston and his 16-year-old son Kal-El from his third marriage with Alice Kim.

He was also previously married to Patricia Arquette (1995-2001), Lisa Marie Presley (2002-2004) and Erica Koike (2019).

2023 Elections: Obi and Osibanjo top list of Nigeria’s presidential votes  — polls

Yemi Osinbajo, incumbent Vice President and presidential aspirant under the All Progressives Congress and Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra and presidential aspirant under the People’s Democratic Party, emerged as the most preferred presidential aspirants in the upcoming Nigeria general elections scheduled for February 2023.

This result is drawn from a survey conducted by Nextier, a multi-competency advisory firm, and Data-Tier, a data analytics and digital communications firm. The survey aimed to gauge Nigerians’ preferences for a presidential candidate, understand the challenges they would like the next government to address promptly, and decipher how ethnic and gender biases would inform the next election.

Judged across all 467 responses, the most preferred candidate for president were Peter Obi (46 percent), Yemi Osinbajo (28 percent), Bola Tinubu (7.5 percent) and Atiku Abubakar (3 percent). The most preferred candidates for the vice presidency were Aminu Tambuwal (28 percent), Musa Kwankwaso (19 percent), Peter Obi (16 percent), Bukola Saraki (6.9 percent), Nyesom Wike (6.4 percent) and Yemi Osinbajo (5.8 percent).

Assessing the responses from a geopolitical dimension, the presidential preference for respondents from southern Nigeria were Peter Obi (51.2 percent) and Yemi Osinbajo (26.6 percent). For the position of Vice President, these same respondents preferred Aminu Tambuwal (30.2 percent), Peter Obi (16.6 percent) and Musa Kwankwaso (16.6 percent).   No other candidates polled up to 10 percent in either of the categories.

The presidential preferences for respondents from northern Nigeria were Yemi Osinbajo (34.2 percent), Peter Obi (20 percent), and Musa Kwankwaso (13.2 percent). The respondents’ preferences for the vice presidency were Musa Kwankwaso (32.9 percent), Aminu Tambuwal (17.1 percent) and Peter Obi (14.4 percent). No other candidates polled up to 10 percent in either of the categories.

The survey asked the respondent to rank the 15 candidates in their Most Preferred and Least Preferred order. Peter Obi and Yemi Osinbajo were the most preferred candidates, while Bola Tinubu and Abubakar Malami were the least preferred candidates.

Analysis of the survey responses shows that Nigerians are most concerned with the insecurity level in the country. Three out of ten Nigerians (34.1 percent) indicated that insecurity is the most critical challenge in the country. Weak economic growth ranked second (22.1 percent), while national disunity ranked third (13.92 percent). Poverty (11.99 percent) and unemployment (10.28) were the other critical development issues.
The ordering of the developmental challenges remained relatively the same when analyzed from a geopolitical perspective.

Respondents were asked to select the top three attributes (out of a list of ten) they wished to see in their next president. The survey report showed that despite Nigeria’s overt religiosity, “Believes in God” ranks very low compared to “competence,” which is represented on this list by terms such as knowledgeable (17.9 percent), ability to solve problems (17.4 percent), and capable (16.5 percent). Being “young” received only 3.2 percent of the responses.

How much influence do ethnicity and religion have on the choice of presidential candidates in Nigeria? Would Nigerians vote for a president/vice-president ticket that meets all their desirable attributes, but both candidates share the same religion? Or same ethnic origins? On religion, while 5.14 percent of the respondents are emphatic that they would never vote for such a ticket, 58. 7 percent are open to the idea.

Similarly, on ethnicity, 11.13 percent of the respondents are emphatic that they would never vote for a ticket where the presidential and vice-presidential candidates are from the same ethnic group. However, 43.7 percent of the respondents are open to the idea.

Almost eight out of ten respondents (76 percent) claimed that “above all other considerations, I prefer someone who can fix Nigeria irrespective of his or her religion or tribe.”  This insight signposts a growing desire to have a functional country and citizens’ zeal to thrive and make a difference. This insight also lends credence to the commonly held belief that if people can meet their daily livelihood needs, they will care less about the ethnic or religious leanings of the president.

Is Nigeria set for a female president, following Liberia and Malawi’s footsteps? The survey responses are in the affirmative, with over 86 percent of respondents stating that they would vote for a competent woman.

The most gender-progressive regions in Nigeria are the South South and North Central. 93.4 percent of the respondents in the South South would vote for a competent female president, while 97.1 percent would do the same in the North Central region. The least progressive regions are the North West with 57.7 percent and the North East with 64.3 percent. It is, however, unclear how this perception would play out at the polls.

Nigeria is effectively a two-party state, given the dominance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Over 54 percent of the respondents think it is unlikely that the next president will come from a party other than the two dominant ones. If the result is anything to go by, it is evident that either the APC or the PDP will produce the next president of Nigeria. While this is not expected to discourage aspirants on other political platforms, it justifies the focus of Nigerians on the actions and activities of the PDP and the APC.

This survey is a dip-stick analysis that provides insights into Nigeria’s evolving political space. Given the long electoral process leading to the February 2023 elections, one can expect significant changes in perception in the intervening months.  Nextier and Data-Tier will continue to run these surveys until Nigerians go to the polls to elect their new president and vice president.

The Nigerians were arrested alongside one Bangladeshi on charges of obtaining money from people under the false pretence of exchanging their Bangladeshi Taka into US dollar.

The police, in a media briefing on Thursday, said the suspects were arrested in separate operations in Dhaka, the country’s capital city, on Wednesday.

The Nigerian suspects are Henri Osita Okechukwu, Chisom Emmanuel Obiajulu, Okeke Peter, Obinna Sunday, Oneka Amba, Chisom Anthonoy Ekwenze, Okeyea Azubike, Anuyarah Ojuyemena Daniel, Anuruka Jinika Francis, Luke and Domado Chinedo

They used to maintain communication with their Bangladeshi accomplices and distribute the embezzled money among other members of the gang.

“The other members of the gang swindled people out of huge amounts of money with promises of expensive gifts and investment after developing a virtual friendship with fake Facebook ID as an American or European citizen.”

Most Illicit Drug Dealers Arrested In India Are Nigerians – Indian Police

Half of the total foreign nationals arrested for involvement in illegal drug smuggling in Himachal Pradesh between 2017 and 2021 are from the African nation,l Nigeria

This is according to the state police data.

Hindustan Times reports that police data shows that from 2017 to 2021, a total of 72 foreign nationals have been arrested for their involvement in the narcotics trade in the hill state. Of these, 36 were Nigerian nationals, followed by 15 from other African countries, 14 Europeans, four Americans, two from the Middle East and one from an Asian country.

“We are concerned about the involvement of foreigners in the illicit drug trade in Himachal. Of the 72 foreigners arrested between 2017 and 2021, seven have jumped bail,” said Sanjay Kundu, director-general of police (DGP). “We are taking steps to expedite their trials.”

According to the narcotics control wing of state police, most of the Nigerian nationals arrested for supplying drugs to Himachal were operating from Delhi.
Nigerian nationals from India’s capital are actively involved in the smuggling of chitta (adulterated heroin) into Himachal, resulting in a multifold increase in the trade, police said. The majority of the peddlers from Himachal are in the age group of 16 to 26 years, police data suggests.

“There are three types of networks active in Himachal. One is being run by Punjab-based smugglers, another by Africans and the third one is being operated from Uttar Pradesh,” said Gaurav Singh, superintendent of police, narcotic control wing. “Our main focus is to nab the smugglers, along with local conduits.”

Data also highlighted that in the last five years, the state police have arrested 8,122 Indian nationals and 80 foreigners under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

Chitta has made inroads even in the rural pockets of areas that attract a higher footfall of tourists, especially in Shimla, Kangra, Una, Sirmaur and Solan. The problem is more acute in the areas bordering Punjab, a senior officer said.

“Chitta smugglers have spread their tentacles in the rural regions. The government needs to play a more proactive role in the coming days as the problem is compounding,” said Narendra Chauhan, president of Anti-Drug Force, a Rohru-based NGO working to motivate women and youth to fight against the drug menace.

“Not only men, but young women too are into drug abuse. The number of visitors at our outdoor patient department (OPD) is increasing by the day. We are even arranging special OPDs only for the addicts,” said Dinesh Dutt Sharma, head of the psychiatry department at the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital.

Dr Sanjay Pathak, CEO, state mental health authority, said, “Multiple drug usage among addicts is on the rise. About 40% of calls received on the drug prevention helpline are related to such cases.”

To curb the menace, the state police have launched ‘Drug Free Himachal’ app that educates users about the harmful effects of narcotics. It has been downloaded by 40,000 people so far. The police are also running an SMS campaign.

“We are constantly reviewing depositions by cops as witnesses in courts to ensure speedy trials in the NDPS cases. Attempts have been made for stricter norms pertaining to bail and confirming identities of sureties,” said the DGP.

The police have also introduced ‘Register 29’ in all police stations of the state to keep tabs on the drug smugglers and their conduits. “We have carried out financial investigations in 22 cases and properties worth ₹12 crore have been attached as well,” an officer said, requesting anonymity.

Erik ten Hag becomes the new Manchester United’s manager

Manchester United have appointed Ajax boss Erik ten Hag as their new manager, to replace interim Ralf Rangnick at the end of the season.

The 52-year-old has signed a three-year deal with the option of a further 12 months.

He told United’s website: “It is a great honour to be appointed manager of Manchester United and I am hugely excited by the challenge ahead.

“I know the history of this great club and the passion of the fans, and I am absolutely determined to develop a team capable of delivering the success they deserve.

“It will be difficult to leave Ajax after these incredible years, and I can assure our fans of my complete commitment and focus on bringing this season to a successful conclusion before I move to Manchester United.”

John Murtough, United’s football director, added: “During the past four years at Ajax, Erik has proved himself to be one of the most exciting and successful coaches in Europe, renowned for his team’s attractive, attacking football and commitment to youth.

“In our conversations with Erik leading up to this appointment, we were deeply impressed with his long-term vision for returning Manchester United to the level we want to be competing at, and his drive and determination to achieve that.

“We wish Erik the best of luck as he focuses on achieving a successful end to the season at Ajax and look forward to welcoming him to Manchester United this summer.”

“Manchester United’s interest in Erik ten Hag came as no surprise given his status as one of the most progressive coaches in Europe, and his long links to their managerial vacancy.

“The 52-year-old has had admirers at Old Trafford stretching back to 2018/19, when his Ajax side knocked out Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League, before then stunning Juventus and only being denied a place in the final after Lucas Moura’s last-minute goal for Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham.

“Ten Hag is a popular choice to take charge at Old Trafford and represents what is seen as a “fresh, exciting future”, although there is an acceptance risk is involved as it is a sizeable leap for him.

“The last highly-successful Ajax coach to move to England’s top flight – via Inter – was Frank de Boer, who lasted just 77 days at Crystal Palace.

“The expectations, global glare placed on United, and level of competition at the top end of the Premier League is like nothing he would have previously experienced.”

“Ten Hag worked in Bayern Munich when Pep Guardiola was there. We know the impact that had. He’s won a couple of titles and cups in Holland. His style of play is good. He’s got more experience than I think most people think at the age of 52.

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick, will take up a consultancy role at Old Trafford this summer , making way for  Erik ten Hag.

Ukraine has proposed to hold a “special round” of negotiations with Russia in the besieged city of Mariupol, a top Kyiv official said.

“Yes. Without any conditions. We’re ready to hold a ‘special round of negotiations’ right in Mariupol,” top Ukraine negotiator and presidential aide Mykhailo Podolyak said on Twitter.

Another key Ukrainian negotiator, David Arakhamia, said on Telegram that he and Podolyak “are ready to arrive in Mariupol to hold talks with the Russian side on the evacuation of our military garrison and civilians”.

As yet another desperate attempt to evacuate civilians from Mariupol failed Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that “the situation in Mariupol is deteriorating” with thousands of troops and civilians stuck in the city.

Earlier Wednesday, Svyatoslav Palamar, a commander in the nationalist Azov regiment that has been defending the city against Russia’s siege, said his forces were ready to be evacuated together with civilians from the strategic southern port.

“We are ready to be evacuated with the help of a third party from the city of Mariupol with our small arms,” Palamar said in a video posted on Telegram.

He added that the goal was “To evacuate the wounded, get the bodies of the dead out and to bury them with honours on territory not controlled by the Russian Federation.”

An auction of the jersey worn by Diego Maradona when he scored twice against England in the 1986 World Cup, including the infamous “hand of God” goal, kicked off Wednesday April 20, with a bid of over $5 million.

The football icon, who died in 2020, swapped shirts with England midfielder Steve Hodge after full time and he has been in possession of the treasured item for the last 35 years.

Hodge has now put the shirt up for sale at Sotheby’s and the online auction has already started.

The reserve of $5million has already been met by one interested buyer but there are two weeks remaining for bidders to stake their claim as the auction ends on May 4.

Maradona’s status as a superstar was cemented in that quarter-final in 1986.

Argentina won the game 2-1, with their diminutive talisman deceiving the referee by using his hand to score what appeared to the office to be a header. Hodge was involved in the incident, passing the ball back to the goalkeeper before Maradona used his cunning to leap and reach the ball with his hand.

Afterwards the player famously said it was scored ‘a little with the head of Maradona, and a little with the hand of God’.

His other strike in the game was voted ‘Goal of the Century’ in a FIFA poll and saw him dribble around almost the entire England team before slotting the ball past Peter Shilton.

It was the most famous game in the career of a footballing genius, who was 25 at the time and went on to help his side win the tournament in Mexico.

Brahm Wachter, Sotheby’s Head of Streetwear and Modern Collectables, said the two goals ‘balance each other brilliantly’ and reveal two facets of Maradona’s character.

The first ‘was really cunning and did involve an element of luck,’ he said. ‘But then he scored a second goal, which was one of the most unbelievable – almost angelic – goals ever.’

Hodge was the lucky owner for more than three decades and previously explained how he snagged it.

He said: ‘I was walking down the tunnel and Maradona was coming in the opposite direction. I just tugged my shirt and we swapped there and then.’

Hodge has now revealed why he is selling the iconic shirt, explaining: ‘I have been the proud owner of this item for over 35 years, since Diego and I swapped shirts in the tunnel after the famed match.

‘It was an absolute privilege to have played against one of the greatest and most magnificent football players of all time.

‘It has also been a pleasure to share it with the public over the last 20 years at the National Football Museum, where it has been on display.

‘The Hand of God shirt has deep cultural meaning to the football world, the people of Argentina, and the people of England and I’m certain that the new owner will have immense pride in owning the world’s most iconic football shirt.’

The shirt will be on display in Sothebys’ London showroom on Bond Street during the April 20-May 4 bidding period.
