Unknown man shoots man dead over Shawarma in Lagos bar

Unknown man shoots man dead over Sharwama

The Lagos state police command is currently on the trail of a yet-to-be-identified man who allegedly shot one Kayode Oloruntoba in the stomach over Shawarma in the Alagbado area of Lagos State on Friday, September 11.

Punch reports that the unfortunate incident occurred after late Oloruntoba’s friend, Kazeem Okikilola, went to Avid Bar at Alagbado to buy Shawarma and called Oloruntoba to join him. However before Oloruntoba got to the bar, Okikilola and another customer had gotten into an argument over who was to be served first. The argument degenerated into a serious altercation and out of annoyance, the suspect left the spot, entered his car, and drove away.

A few minutes later, Oloruntoba met Okikiola at the spot and while they waited for the Shawarma, the suspect reportedly returned, brought out a gun, and shot in the direction of the two friends. The bullet hit Oloruntoba in the stomach. The suspect immediately fled the scene after firing the shot.

A resident who simply identified himself as Chinedu said the suspect mistakenly fired the shot at Oloruntoba who never met him or had the argument with him

“He actually thought that he shot the person (Okikiola) he argued with. Unfortunately, the bullet hit the wrong person. Immediately, the suspect got back into his car and drove away,”

Another resident, Seyifunmi Akinola, said a native doctor assisted in removing the bullet from Oloruntoba’s body, adding that he died while being rushed to the hospital for further treatment.

“Immediately the incident happened, his friends rushed him to the Merit Hospital where he was rejected because there was no police report. He was later referred to the General Hospital, Otta, Ogun State, where he was cleaned up and transferred to the General Hospital in Abeokuta.

“But instead of taking him to Abeokuta, they took him to a native doctor to remove the bullet from his body and returned him to the General Hospital in Otta, but he was rejected. He died on the way to another hospital.”Seyifunmi said

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said six suspects, including Okikiola, have been interrogated over the unfortunate incident.

“After the shooting, his friend and witness, Kazeem Okikiola, who had earlier called Oloruntoba to join him at the Shawarma spot, refused to report the incident to the police, but rather took the deceased to a herbalist in Ogun State, where they extracted the pellets from his body.

“He later took Oloruntoba to his brother’s house in the Ipaja area of Lagos State, where he died. As a follow up to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu, directed that police detectives be mobilised to hunt the suspects linked to the killing.

“During the investigation, the owner of the Shawarma spot, Chimezie Amaechi; the deceased’s friend, Kazeem Okikiola; the Manager of the Avid Bar, Olayinka Oyedokun, and his friends, Femi Victor, Taiwo Morokola, and Omole Wasiu were arrested. These suspects are giving useful information that can assist the police in the investigation.” Adejobi said

He added that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, Yaba, for discreet investigation.

The family of late Breonna Taylor shot by the police will be paid $12M

late Breonna Taylor

The city of Louisville, Kentucky, has agreed to pay $12m to the family of Breonna Taylor, a black woman who was fatally shot by police in her apartment six months ago.

Taylor’s family sued the city after Louisville Metro Police officers broke down the door to Taylor’s apartment and fatally shot the 26-year-old African-American emergency medical technician on March 13, 2020.

On Tuesday, September, 15, the city of Louisville announced the large settlement at a 2 p.m. press conference which took place at Mayor Fischer’s office, with Taylor’s family and attorneys Ben Crump, Sam Aguiar, and Lonita Baker in attendance.

In addition to the payment, the settlement includes several policing reforms, including changes to the approval process for and execution of search warrants, the hiring of a team of social workers to accompany police officers, and a commitment to pursue increased drug and alcohol testing of officers involved in any shooting.

The police reforms secured in the settlement were meant to “engage police officers within the community, not just when they’re dispatched,” Baker said.

The settlement is the largest financial sum paid in a police misconduct case in the city’s history, according to the Louisville Courier-Journal.

Three officers involved in the shooting were executing a late-night, “no-knock” warrant in a narcotics investigation when they entered Taylor’s apartment in Louisville, Kentucky. Gunfire was exchanged between Taylor’s boyfriend Kenneth Walker and the officers. In return, the officers fired over twenty shots and Breonna Taylor was hit 8 times.

Her death sparked several anti-racism protests in recent months with several celebrities including Beyonce demanding justice for Breonna Taylor and calling for the arrest of police officers at the scene the night she was killed.

According to USA Today, a grand jury would decide whether criminal charges should be filed against any of the three officers involved in her shooting during a search for drugs, cash and other evidence in her South End apartment.

Neymar ‘faces 7 game ban’ for punching Marseille defender Gonzalez

Neymar faces 7 game ban

Paris Saint Germain forward, Neymar Jnr could be slapped with a seven-game ban after he was sent off for punching Marseille’s Alvaro Gonzalez during their Ligue 1 game on Sunday.

The Brazilian superstar was one of five players sent off after a huge brawl broke out between Argentine pair Dario Benedetto and Leandro Paredes, and then extended to other players at the end of PSG’s shock 1-0 defeat to Marseille.

Neymar accused Spanish defender Alvaro of racially abusing him during the clash. He claimed Alvaro called him a ‘monkey son of a b****’.

PSG star, Neymar ?faces seven game ban? for punching Marseille defender Alvaro Gonzalez amid racism row

But after being dismissed by VAR for his attack on Alvaro, RMC Sport reports the 28-year-old could be suspended for as many as seven matches.

A statement issued on Monday read: “Paris Saint-Germain strongly supports Neymar Jr who reported being subjected to racist abuse by an opposing player.

“The club restates that there is no place for racism in society, in football or in our lives and calls on everyone to speak out against all forms of racism throughout the world.”

Neymar also issued a statement on his Instagram story where he explained that he ‘could not leave without doing something’.

He added: “Yesterday I wanted those in charge of the game (referees, assistants) to position themselves impartially and understand that there is no longer such a place for a prejudiced attitude.

“Racism exists, it exists, but we have to stop it. No more, enough!

“I accept my punishment because I should have followed the path of clean football. I hope, on the other hand, that the offender will also be punished.

“The guy was a fool, I also acted like a fool for letting me getting involved in that.”

Marseille also released a statement denying Gonzales is racist and slamming death threats he has received in wake of the clash.

It read: “Alvaro Gonzalez is not racist, he demonstrated it to us by his daily behaviour since joining the club, as his teammates have already testified.

“The club remains at the disposal of the disciplinary committee to fully cooperate in the investigation of all the events which marked this meeting, and the 24 hours which preceded them.

“This controversy is serious and already has serious consequences.

“The club thus condemns the dissemination of the private telephone numbers of Alvaro Gonzalez and his relatives this night on Brazilian media and social networks, giving rise since to constant harassment, consisting in particular of death threats.”

The French governing body, LFP, will review the incident before handing out an appropriate sanction to the players involved in the brawl.

UK government is set to end tax-free sales at airports from 1 January 2021

UK government is set to end tax-free sales

The UK government is set to end tax-free sales at airports, ports and Eurostar stations from 1 January 2021.

This means that overseas visitors will no longer be able to benefit from tax-free sales and VAT relief on goods purchased in airports in the UK.

In what has been described as a fresh “hammer blow” to the ailing aviation industry, Ministers announced that duty-free bargains at airports will end on goods including perfume, clothing and electronics from January 1.

The tax savings will now only apply to sales of alcohol and tobacco.

In addition, the VAT retail export scheme, which currently enables EU visitors to claim refunds on goods purchased in the UK, will also be withdrawn from the same date, January 1, 2020.

The government justified the decision by citing “concerns over how the benefit is passed on to passengers and in some instances, the relief is not consistent with international tax principles.”

The Treasury announced: “As part of these changes, VAT refunds for overseas visitors in British shops will be removed. Overseas visitors will still be able to buy items VAT-free in store and have them sent direct to their overseas addresses, while the costly system of claiming VAT refunds on items they take home in their luggage will be ended.”

It described the scheme as “a costly relief, which does not benefit the whole of Britain equally”, adding that the current use is mostly centred in London.

The UK government said the rules were part of a harmonisation process concerning EU and non-EU travellers and that the rules had “to be aligned following the transition period so EU and non-EU passengers are treated equally”.

The decision, which affects all outbound passengers, has been called a “hammer blow” to struggling airports as much of their income (about 40 percent) comes from airside retailers.

Industry experts say it could lead to thousands of job losses as shops pull out of airports. They fear some regional airports could even go broke.

The Airport Operators Association (AOA) criticised the move, saying it “needlessly harms an industry in peril”.

AOA chief executive Karen Dee condemned the government saying: “The Government have once again shown a complete lack of awareness for the jobs and businesses on the line in the aviation sector.

“Our industry is weathering the worst crisis in the history of civil aviation, it can scarcely afford another hammer blow like this.”

Retailers will still be able to offer VAT-free shopping to overseas customers who purchase items and have them delivered overseas, including EU visitors.

Duty-free sales will also be extended to travellers to and from the EU, while personal duty-free allowances will “significantly increase”.

Visitors arriving from EU and non-EU countries will be allowed 42 litres of beer, 18 litres of still wine and 9 litres of sparkling wine duty free from next year. Allowances for tobacco and other goods will remain the same.

Travellers arriving in the UK from the EU will no longer be able to bring back unlimited amounts of alcohol, tobacco and other goods without declaring them and paying tax, however.

Karen Dee said: “By removing the airside concession, the government is needlessly harming the revenue of retailers and airports. Passengers will be dis-incentivised from making purchases as they travel.”

She warned: “Many foreign visitors will now choose to go elsewhere, attracted by the tax and excise regimes of our European competitors. This will harm not only UK airports, but the high street stores that hugely benefit from tourists.

“I strongly urge the government to reconsider.”

Francois Bourienne, chair of the UK Travel Retail Forum, added: “This decision puts the UK out of step with travel retail systems around the world, completely dis-incentiveses tourists to visit the UK and British passengers making purchases as they go on vacation abroad, and puts UK airports and travel retail at a substantial disadvantage against their European counterparts after Brexit.

“This will lead to significant additional job losses in the travel industry. It may well be the best gift the UK could have given the EU as well as a massive blow for UK plc.

“We urge the Government to immediately review its decision and act swiftly to ensure jobs, businesses and Britain’s place as a premier travel hub are not lost.”

Lisa Armstrong gives out her ex-husband’s unwanted possessions (photos)

Ant McPartlin and family

British presenter, Ant McPartlin’s ex-wife, Lisa Armstrong has officially said her final goodbye to him by leaving out his unwanted possessions in the street for her neighbours to take for free.

McPartlin and Lisa’s 12-year marriage was officially dissolved in April 2020 after their split in January 2018 following the presenter’s battle with painkillers and alcohol.

The make-up artist, 43, who reportedly received £31million in her divorce settlement from Ant, 44, placed his properties in boxes and put them outside her west London property on Monday, September 14. She also left a sign post ‘Free…please help yourself’ for neighbours to pick from her husband’s unwanted possessions.

This comes after it was reported she’s getting ready to move out of the marital home she formerly shared with her ex.

Some of the items pictured outside the property included McPartlin’s Newcastle United shirts, a ‘Team Ant’ foam hand from Saturday Night Takeaway, an old dressing-gown, and a pile of board games including Piers Morgan’s book The Insider among others.

Several persons were pictured picking some items from the boxes placed outside the street.

A source told The Sun that Lisa is leaving her West London house and wanted a ‘big clear out.’

They added: ‘Ant had already sifted through what he wanted to keep and had gophers collect them in recent weeks.

‘What was left is being offered for free. His bathrobe has been taken. Footie memorabilia has also been given away. But it was the end for his Newcastle shirts.”

Another source said: ‘Some of it is Ant’s, some of it is Lisa’s and some of it they bought together.’

Lisa Armstrong leaves her ex-husband Ant McPartlin

Speaking on Tuesday, Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan disagreed with Lisa’s decision to throw out these possessions, even though she is divorced.

Piers told co-host Susanna Reid and the audience: ‘Ant McPartlin’s ex Lisa Armstrong – who is a wonderful makeup artist, she does my makeup on Life Stories.

And I thought we were friends. I really did. I was quite friendly with Ant. Apparently, this is stuff that Ant himself didn’t want back.

‘These are the unwanted items that neither of them ever wanted to see again. There were things you’d expect, like Craig Revel Horwood’s Tales From the Dancefloor. Wholly understandable.

‘His Newcastle shirt. I wouldn’t want to keep them either. A Team Ant foam hand from Saturday Night Takeaway. Again, why would you want that?

‘So you have all these things – and in the middle of it, you have a copy of my book, The Insider.’

Later on in the show, Piers said Lisa had contacted him to apologise.

She told him: ‘”Oh my god, I’m so sorry, I wasn’t even there. I haven’t even see that book. Are you mad at me?”’ Yes – I am mad at you. No, I just want my book back!’

New calls for rapists to be hanged or chemically castrated – Pakistan PM

Pakistani PM

Pakistani Prime Minister, Imran Khan has called for rapists to be hanged or chemically castrated after a woman was reportedly gang-raped at gunpoint in front of her children, last week.

Khan made his comments while demanding ‘exemplary sentences’ for the woman’s rapists, saying he would sentence them to be hanged at the site of the attack, but admitted that hanging them might lead to Pakistan being punished by the EU, so it might be better to chemically castrate them instead.

Speaking on Pakistani TV on Monday September 14, Khan said: ‘What I think is that there should be chemical castration, I have read it is happening in many countries.

‘The way murder is graded: First-, second- and third-degree. This should also be graded, and for first-degree (sex crimes) there should be castration.’

According to Mail Online, the attack took place in the early hours of Thursday last week after the woman’s car broke down on a highway near Lahore when she ran out of petrol.

While still in her car, she locked the doors and called for assistance, but a group of men smashed her window and dragged her out before they attacked her.

After the rape ordeal was over, the woman was also robbed.

Police arrested 15 men last week but said none of them were involved in the rape. Officers have since named two primary suspects as Shafqat Ali and Abid Malhi in the case.

A convicted murderer on death row is sworn in by Sri Lankan Parliament

Premalal Jayasekara

Lawmakers from the United People’s Force, the largest opposition grouping in Sri Lanka’s Parliament, staged a walkout on Wednesday, September 9, when Premlal Jayasekera, a convicted murderer on death row was sworn in by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena as member of Parliament for Ratnapura District, a gem mining center, southeast of the capital Colombo.

Jayasekera was sworn in as a Sri Lankan lawmaker, after a court ruled that he could not be barred from the country’s 225-member Parliament.

On Tuesday September 8, Jayasekera was escorted to Parliament by armed prison officials, where he took the oath of office and formally became an elected lawmaker.

Even though, Sri Lanka has not carried out an execution since 1976, Jayasekera was convicted of murdering activist Susil Perera ahead of a presidential election in January 2015, and sentenced to death.

While the case against him was pending, Jayasekera was nominated by the Sri Lanka People’s Front (SLPF) as a parliamentary candidate.

The SLPF, (run by the Rajapaksa brothers, Gotabaya and Mahinda, who hold the positions of President and Prime Minister of Sri Lanka respectively) won a landslide victory last year, and Jayasekera was one of 145 candidates elected to the Parliament.

Jayasekera’s election triggered a string of legal issues, and he even had to get permission from Colombo’s Welikade Prison to attend Parliament sessions.

This week, the Court of Appeal ruled that he should be permitted to take his oath of office.
“Since the election of this Member of Parliament has not been invalidated, the interim relief sought that he be permitted to attend Parliament has to be allowed,” the court said, though it left the matter ultimately to the Speaker whether or not to swear Jayasekera in.

People’s Liberation Front leader Anura Kumara said it was “unjust” for someone given a death sentence to be a member of Parliament.

During the walk out on Wednesday, lawmakers chanted “shame” and wore black shawls in commemoration of Jayasekera’s victim.

He will be escorted by armed guards whenever Parliament is in session.

Maguire to remain as Manchester captain despite his case

Maguire Harry rezmains as captain Man utd

Manchester United Head coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed Harry Maguire will remain Manchester United’s captain this season despite his involvement in a Greek court case.

Maguire was given a suspended 21-month sentence last month after the England defender was found guilty of assaulting a police officer, swearing, resisting arrest and bribery during an incident in Mykonos island, Greece.

The incident was allegedly sparked after Maguire claimed himself, his family and friends were taunted and attacked at a nightclub.

Harry Maguire to remain as Man Utd captain despite police assault court case in Greece

Maguire, 27, has denied the offences and has launched an appeal which nullifies the verdict.

The nullified verdict means he has no criminal record and can play football until his retrial begins.

Following the original court verdict, Maguire was withdrawn from England’s squad for their recent international trips.

United boss Solskjaer, however, says he will not punish his centre-back by stripping him of the captaincy.

“He’s handled it really well and, of course, I’ll be here to support him,” Solskjaer told United’s website.

“He is going to be our captain. We’ll just leave Harry and his people and the process to run.”

“Of course, Harry, as you said, had a difficult summer. He didn’t have a long break,” Solskjaer said.

“His break was different to others as we gave him a few more days and, after, he’s come back and looked fine.

“For me, he is a top, an absolute top human being and has always been a positive guy with the right values. So I really hope we can see Harry performing at his best.”

Maguire joined United for £80 million ($102 million) from Leicester, making him the world’s most expensive defender.

‘Our goal is to stop the increase (in cases) and lower morbidity,’ Mr Netanyahu said.

‘I know that these steps come at a difficult price for all of us. ‘This is not the holiday we are used to.’ Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speaks during a briefing today

The tightening of measures marks the second time Israel has gone into a lockdown. The lockdown will remain in place for at least three weeks, at which point officials are expected to relax measures if cases decline.

Falana drags Nigeria and Kano State government to African Commission

Falana drags FG and Kano state government

The Kano state government and the federal government have been dragged to the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights in Banjul, The Gambia, following a petition written by human rights activist, Femi Falana over the death sentence issued to Kano singer, Sharif Yahya Sharif.

In the petition dated 8th September 2020, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria asked the commission to exercise its mandates and authority under the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights and pursuant to the commission’s order 100(1) Rules of Procedure, 2020.

Falana insisted that Nigeria has deliberately and willfully disregarded the request by the African Commission to the effect that African countries, including Nigeria that still retain the death penalty, should fully comply with their obligations under the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, and guarantee every person accused of capital punishment fair trial.

The petition read;

“I am writing to you on behalf of Sharif Yahya Sharif to ask the Commission to consider this request for provisional measures. The request is submitted in conjunction with our communication on behalf of Sharif Yahya Sharif convicted and sentenced to death for blasphemy in Kano State of Nigeria.

“When the petitioner informed the Court that he could not afford and secure the services of a lawyer to defend him, the Court ordered the Legal Aid Council to assign him a lawyer so that the petitioner could enjoy access to legal representation.

“However, the order was disobeyed by the Legal Aid Council. The Legal Aid Council is the body established by law to provide legal support to indigent citizens especially in cases involving death penalty.

“An appeal at the Kano State High Court against the conviction and death sentence imposed on the petitioner has been filed, but we submit that the petitioner will not enjoy a fair hearing, as he continues to face imminent execution by hanging.

“Nigeria is a state party to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights but there is a growing crackdown on human rights including the rights to freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, and attack on the rule of law.”

Iran plotting assassination of US ambassador as revenge for Soleimani killing

Iran plotting assassination of US ambassador

Iran is planning an assassination plot against Lana Marks, the United States ambassador to South Africa, a new report has revealed.

US Officials are reportedly aware of threats against Marks, a longtime friend of President Donald Trump, according to Politico.

According to the Politico report, gotten from a White House insider, the assassination plot is a retaliation for the assassination of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani who was killed by a U.S. drone strike in January.

Iran plotting assassination of US ambassador and longtime Trump friend Lana Marks as revenge for Soleimani killing

US Officials believe the Iranian embassy in Pretoria, the capital of South Africa, is involved in revenge plot and has warned Marks of a “credible threat” against her life under a directive known as “Duty to Warn,”

This reported plan comes aftef Iran attacked two facilities at a military base in Iraq housing US soldiers just days after Soleimani’s death saying it was revenge for the general’s killing.

More than 100 US soldiers suffered Traumatic Brain Injuries after the attacks on the Al-Asad Air Base, located west of Baghdad.

Meanwhile, Joe Biden on Sunday slammed Trump’s foreign policy with Iran as “a dangerous failure” in an opinion piece published by CNN.

“I have no illusions about the challenges the regime in Iran poses to America’s security interests, to our friends and partners and to its own people. But there is a smart way to be tough on Iran, and there is Trump’s way,” Biden said.

“He has lurched into risky escalations that endangered our troops — and then downplayed their brain injuries as ‘headaches,’” Biden added.

Granting amnesty to Boko Haram members cannot bring peace – Ndume

Granting amnesty to Boko Haram members cannot bring peace

Senator Ali Ndume, the lawmaker representing Borno South in the red chamber and the Chairman of the senate committee on Army has again kicked against the amnesty granted to Boko Haram members

The lawmaker who urged the federal government to change its tactics in granting amnesty to repentant insurgents after undergoing a six-month De-radicalization, Rehabilitation and Re-integration training via the Operation Safe Corridor programme, maintained that it is wrong to grant amnesty to terrorists when the war is still far from over.

Ndume called for more resources to be channelled to resettling the victims of insurgents, while also pointing out that granting amnesty to Boko Haram insurgents without apologizing to the victims and the state cannot bring about the required peace.

He told newsmen on Sunday September 13;

“The war must be over before we start doing that.

“The military could open up the corridor, allow everybody to enter and start profiling them and keep them somewhere as prisoners of war and train them.

“The current arrangement where the repentant insurgents are granted amnesty without apologizing to the victims and the state cannot bring about the required peace.

“Despite the difficult challenges confronting the military operation in my area, the soldiers deployed to fight the insurgents have been very wonderful.

“At Ngoshe for instance, the military personnel there, apart from repelling the attacks from the insurgents, have mobilized resources to start rebuilding, through direct labour, houses that were destroyed by the Boko Haram fighters. The soldiers did not know the owners of the  houses they are rebuilding.”

Business: Oracle ‘wins bid to buy TikTok’s US operation’

Oracle 'wins bid to buy TikTok'

American computer technology giant, Oracle Corporation has reportedly won the bidding for TikTok’s US operations after the Chinese app rejected Microsoft.

According to Bloomberg, a Wall Street Journal reported that Oracle would be announced as TikTok’s trusted tech partner in the United States. The Journal also added that the eventual deal would not be structured as an outright sale.

A statement from Redmond reads, “ByteDance let us know today they would not be selling TikTok’s US operations to Microsoft.”

This comes after ByteDance disclosed that they would not be selling TikTok’s US operations to Microsoft.

According to a source, Microsoft, which was working with Walmart Inc, had initially been recognized as the most likely winner earlier in the process, until more firms including Oracle Corporation showed interest.

Microsoft earlier said in a statement that it was prepared to make changes aimed at protecting national security interests. It said, “To do this, we would have made significant changes to ensure the service met the highest standards for security, privacy, online safety, and combating disinformation, and we made these principles clear in our August statement. We look forward to seeing how the service evolves in these important areas.”

Back in August, President Donald Trump signed executive orders banning social media apps TikTok and WeChat from operating in the US in 45 days if they are not sold by their Chinese-owned parent companies.

In the executive order, which declares TikTok a “national emergency”, Mr Trump claims the app “automatically captures vast swaths of information from its users,” such as location data and browsing and search histories, which “threatens to allow the Chinese Communist Party access to Americans’ personal and proprietary information — potentially allowing China to track the locations of Federal employees and contractors, build dossiers of personal information for blackmail, and conduct corporate espionage.”

For WeChat, which allows its users to transfer funds to each other, the order states it will ban financial transactions with Tencent, a Chinese based company.

The order read: “any transaction that is related to WeChat by any person, or with respect to any property, subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, with Tencent Holdings Ltd. , Shenzhen, China, or any subsidiary of that entity, as identified by the Secretary of Commerce (Secretary) under section 1(c) of this order.”

Pastor Ofori visited a shrine and joined an occult group – Sophia

Ofori visited a shrine and joined an occult group

Sophia Tommey, sister of Barbara Tommey who was shot dead by her Pastor husband, Sylvester Ofori in US city of Orlando last week has recalled some incidents that reportedly occurred prior to her sister’s death.

In an exclusive interview with Franky5 on This is Gospel show on Hitz FM on Sunday September 13, Sophia alleged that Ofori initiated plans of killing her sister after she filed for divorce.

According to her, Barbara filed for divorce after she discovered that her husband who is the head pastor of Floodgates of Heaven International Ministries joined an occult group.

She said;

“Sylvester had denounced God after he visited a shrine in Nzema and was even convincing my sister to join him. But my sister later discovered her husband had joined occult and filed for divorce”

Sophia also revealed that her late sister moved out of her matrimonial home three months ago and only returned home for some documents when Ofori nearly choked her to death. She averred that it was her brother’s intervention that stopped Ofori from choking Barbara to death at that time.

The distraught lady who alleged that her late sister was very secretive, said Ofori initiated plans of killing her Barbara upon realizing that he will lose everything if the divorce process is completed.

Sophia added;

“Barbara was the breadwinner of the family and owned all the properties; Sylvester was just a pastor so the thought of losing everything pushed him to kill my sister.

“Barbara was a very quiet person so all the things we heard were from her friends; she never told us what she was going through until her death”

Sophia said Barbara will be buried on September 26, 2020, and is confident the police will do a good job and get justice for the family.

Inside the Boeing 747 used by Epstein to traffick young victims

Inside the Boeing 747 used by Epstein to traffick young victims

A private jet owned by the late US financier Jeffrey Epstein now lies abandoned and covered in dust on a Georgia runway, racking up thousands of dollars in storage fees.

Prosecutors alleged that the abandoned Boeing 747 jet – dubbed the ‘Lolita Express’ was used by Epstein to transport his sex trafficking young victims between his sprawling homes in New York, New Mexico, Paris, the US Virgin Islands, and Palm Beach.

Recall the billionaire financier committed suicide at the Manhattan’s Metropolitan Correctional Center last august while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.

The 66-year-old was accused of having sex with girls as young as age 14 in the early 2000s at Epstein’s residences in Manhattan and Florida, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to Daily Mail, the 1969-built plane whisked prominent guests including Bill Clinton, Britain’s Prince Andrew, supermodel Naomi Campbell and actor Kevin Spacey to exotic locations across the globe.

The report said the jet took off for its final flight on July 11, 2016, from Florida’s Palm Beach International Airport at 11.39am, arriving at its current location at Georgia’s Brunswick Golden Isles Airport 51 minutes later.

Since then it has been abandoned, costing around $1,000 a month in storage.

When Daily Mail boarded the plane, they found the once-plush interior, including deep-pile carpets, throw blankets, and fluffy pillows, infested with mold and mildew.

They also found monogrammed tissues and a bottle of baby lotion stored in Epstein’s private wood-panelled bathroom. Wet wipes, tissues with Epstein’s tail number on them, baby power and other toiletries were seen in a cabinet in the plane’s bathroom.

Federal aviation records reveal the aircraft has been unregistered since 2019, meaning it cannot be legally flown.

The luxury commercial jet is currently parked up on a ramp belonging to Stambaugh Aviation, an independent jet maintenance firm.

The firm’s joint owner Mark Stambaugh said he was initially happy to store the aircraft for free, but later started charging around $1,000 a month when it became clear nothing was happening.

As a father of two daughters, I’m not real thrilled with having it here. But I guess an airplane is just an airplane,’ Stambaugh told DailyMail.com.

‘Somebody needs to come and do something with it or it needs to be scrapped because it’s just going to sit here and keep deteriorating.’

See inside Jeffrey Epstein?s rusting private jet he used in sex trafficking his victims around the world (photos)

According to Stambaugh, he’s owed $11,000 in unpaid storage.

‘The paint is chalking because it’s been sitting in the sun for so long. Until it gets to the point where the paint bubbles out you won’t see it, but trust me, there’s a lot of corrosion on that airplane,’ he added.

‘Internally, in the belly, when you open that up you’re going to find corrosion and other issues as well.

‘As far as the interior, given that it’s been sitting in this heat for years it’s not in bad shape but I don’t know that it has any real value.

‘There’s a lot of mold and mildew. That just happens, it’s the southeast.’

Since Jeffrey Epstein’s death, his alleged co-conspirators, including British socialite Ghisilaine Maxwell, has been and charged with sex trafficking offences.

Born without a womb gives birth after wowb transplant

Jennifer Gobrecht

Jennifer Gobrecht, a woman told by doctors at age 17 that she was unlikely to have a child because she was born without a womb, has welcomed a child after having a womb transplant from a deceased donor.

Jennifer, 34, has Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser syndrome, a congenital condition which occurs in 1 in every 14,500 women.

She had no idea there was anything different about her, until she hadn’t started her periods at 17. She went to the doctors and was sent for a scan which revealed the devastating diagnosis.

She was broken by the news because she always wanted kids of her own. A couple of years later, she met student Drew and they began dating. She was upfront with him about her condition so he knew what he was signing up for.

They got married in 2014 and people began talking, asking when they would have kids. Some told Drew he could have chosen better but he insisted it’s Jennifer he wants.

They both knew from the start they wanted children so started IVF in 2016, creating 10 frozen embryos. They even started talking to surrogate agencies.

But then Jennifer read about a new medical trial.

“I’d read about some research into uterus transplants, never thinking in a million years it could be a possibility for us,” she says.

“Then in 2017 I read that there was a clinical research trial starting at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, just around the corner.

“They were looking for volunteers to receive a uterus transplant. I said, super excited, ‘How wild is this? I think I’m going to apply’.”

Fortunately it worked, and Jennifer, who thought she would never carry her child in her body since she has no womb, was able to. Their son was born on January 9, 2020.

Jennifer is the second in her country and thought to be just the third in the world to give birth after having the procedure.

Kaduna state House of Assembly approves castration as punishment for rapists

In July this year, the state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, said the justice system of the state will no longer grant bail to rapists. He disclosed this when a group of women, advocating for justice for rape victims, staged a peaceful rally at the government house in Kaduna. According to Governor El-Rufai,

“In addition to life imprisonment or 21 years’ imprisonment, anyone convicted of rape will have his organ surgically removed so that even after he finishes his term, he will not be able to rape anyone again,” the governor had said.

So long as the tool exists, there is the likelihood that he may go back to do it again. Most of the perpetrators are young people, so even after 21 years, they can come back and continue.” he said

The 7 Division of the Nigerian Army confirmed the reopening of schools in the local government, and it was further learnt that the Government Girls’ Secondary School Chibok has been converted into a mixed school.

Abdul-Khalifa Ibrahim, acting general officer commanding (GOC), 7 division who was represented by Ifeanyi Otu, chief of staff of the division said;

“It will be gladdening to note that for the first time in the past six years, WAEC successfully held WASSCE in Chibok with the military providing security.

“We are all witnesses to what happened in the recent past like the abduction of the Chibok girls, the slaughtering of students at Buni Yadi and abduction of students at Dapchi. These are all that happened and we have turned around that narrative.

“Let me equally say that the chief of army staff has been making deliberate efforts through the education corps to post teachers to all schools within the north-east states.

“We are really doing enough to ensure that education is resuscitated and as we all know, education is one thing that liberates the individual and liberates the minds. In the first place, this conflict would not have thrived if not that there was high illiteracy rate in this zone.”

A lady goes to prison after deliberately sawing off her hand to claim £925,000

Julija Adlesic from Slovenia goes to prison

22-year-old Julija Adlesic from Ljubljana in Slovenia has bagged a three year jail sentence after deliberately sawing off her hand to claim a £925,000 insurance payout.

Adlesic reportedly hatched the macabre plot with her boyfriend and arrived the hospital when they knew the hand could not be reattached. Adlesic told hospital authorities that she injured herself while sawing branches.

Just days before the incident in early 2019, police investigations found Adlesic’s partner, Sebastien Abramov searched online for information on artificial hands work. This was used as evidence that the amputation was part of an insurance scam plot.

Their plan was foiled after police recovered the appendage and surgeons reattached it. The 22-year-old lady however protested her innocence during her trial, saying she would never have deliberately chopped off her hand .

She said;

“No one wants to be crippled.

“My youth has been destroyed. I lost my hand at the age of 20.

“Only I know how it happened.”

She was subsequently found guilty of attempted insurance fraud by a court in the city. Sentencing her to three years, Judge Marjeta Dvornik said;

“We believe the sentences are fair and appropriate, and will serve their purpose.”

Her boyfriend Abramov was sentenced to three years in prison while his dad received a one-year suspended sentence.

Trump nominated again for the Nobel Peace Prize

Trump nominated again for the Nobel Peace Prize

US leader, Donald Trump has been nominated again for the Nobel Peace Prize, for a historic deal between Serbia and Kosovo.

Trump was first nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize on Wednesday September 9, for achieving a peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

Swedish Parliament member Magnus Jacobsson announced the second nomination of Trump in a letter shared on social media on Saturday September 12.

“I have nominated the US Gov. and the governments of Kosovo and Serbia for the Nobel Peace Prize for their joint work for peace and economic development, through the cooperation agreement signed in the White House,” Jacobsson wrote.

“Trade and communications are important building blocks for peace,” he added.

Trump nominated again for the Nobel Peace Prize for historic peace deal between Serbia and Kosovo

The nomination comes days after Trump was made a candidate for the same prize, by Christian Tybring-Gjedde, a right-wing member of the Norwegian Parliament.

“For his merit, I think he has done more trying to create peace between nations than most other Peace Prize nominees,” Tybring-Gjedde told  Fox News.

He said others “who have received the Peace Prize in recent years have done much less than Donald Trump.

Some people have been critical of Trump being nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and called for an end to the award.

Graeme Wood, a staff writer at The Atlantic, claimed in an article: “The record of achievement of the peace laureates is so spotty, and the rationales for their awards so eclectic, that the committee should take a long break to consider whether peace is a category coherent enough to be worth recognizing.

“Peace had its chance, and blew it. The Trump nomination—one of hundreds, including this second from a Swede—helps show why,” Wood wrote.

Brighton vs Chelsea: Match Updates & Predictions

Brighton vs Chelsea: Match Updates & Predictions

The English Premier League resumed yesterday with exciting results. Actions continues as Brighton host Chelsea.

Predicted Chelsea line-up v Brighton: Lampard to field attacking midfield pair? - The Chelsea Chronicle

Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard, believes his personal touch saw him snatching Timo Werner from Liverpool’s grasp.

Werner was heavily linked with the Premier League champions, but eventually moved to Stamford Bridge in a £53 million deal.

The Blues have spent over £200 million improving their squad this summer and every new signing has highlighted Lampard’s influence as crucial to their signature.

Werner is in line to make his debut against Brighton in the Premier League on Monday and Lampard admits it was pleasing to win the race to sign the German.

“You understand when it is the competition with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City that you need to state your best case to the player.

“With a player like Timo (Werner), we were very, very keen to bring him in. He needs to feel that from us. I loved everything he said to me in those kinds of conversations,” Lampard told reporters.

A former Liverpool and Real Madrid striker, Michael Owen, has predicted that Chelsea will beat Brighton when both sides clash in Monday’s Premier League opener at the Amex Stadium.

Chelsea and Brighton played a 1-1 draw in a pre-season friendly last Saturday. “Brighton is set for a pretty solid season in my opinion,” Owen wrote in his column for BetVictor.

“All eyes will be on Frank Lampard and his [Chelsea] team as he looks to bed everyone in quickly, so that they can hit the ground running from the start of the season.

“It is hard to see beyond a comprehensive victory for Frank Lampard’s Blues in this one, and I am going for a 3-1 win to Chelsea.”

The match is scheduled at 8:15 pm.

UK: Boris Johnson will place a ban on groups of more than 6 people

Boris Johnson

UK prime minister, Boris Johnson will place a ban on groups of more than six people gathering in homes, parks, pubs, and restaurants in England in a bid to stop COVID-19 spike.

The ‘rule of six’ is a dramatic reduction on the limit of 30 which was first put in place on July 4.

The new rule, which comes into force on 14 September, will see first offenders fined £100which will then double on each repeat offence up to £3,200.

The decision comes after the latest COVID-19 figures revealed there were a further 2,460 confirmed cases in the UK as of 9 am on Tuesday, following 2,948 on Monday and 2,988 on Sunday.

Announcing the new restrictions, Mr Johnson said: ‘We need to act now to stop the virus spreading. So we are simplifying and strengthening the rules on social contact – making them easier to understand and for the police to enforce.

‘It is absolutely critical that people now abide by these rules and remember the basics – washing your hands, covering your face, keeping space from others, and getting a test if you have symptoms.’

Discussing the stringent move, Health Secretary, Matt Hancock insisted the public must follow the coronavirus rule saying: ‘Abiding by these rules is absolutely vital to protect life. We’ve seen the increase in the number of cases sadly in the last few days. We’ve seen that across Europe there’s a second wave that many countries have experienced.

‘Some of those countries have then got that second wave under control. If you look at what’s happened in Belgium they saw an increase and then they’ve brought it down, whereas in France and Spain that just hasn’t happened.

‘On the question of the Northern Ireland Protocol the Government has a number of international obligations and the primary amongst those in this context is about protecting the peace process.

‘In the case of coronavirus everybody understands how important it is that we together keep this under control, we can’t do it individually because of the nature of the disease.

‘So, yes, it is incredibly important that everybody follows these new rules and we’ll be bringing in strict enforcement.’

Fines for those who breach the rule will range from £100 to £3,200, the Health Secretary said, adding that there will be exceptions for events such as weddings, funerals and Christenings.

Speaking to Times Radio, Matt Hancock said: ‘It will be much easier for the police to enforce because the previous rules where you had two households it was much harder to work out what was and wasn’t OK.’

‘We have got to bring in clear, stricter rules this autumn unfortunately to stop the spread of the virus,’ he said.

‘One of the things we heard back including from the police directly was that we needed a simpler set of rules that are very straightforward, (that) everybody can understand, and we will be publishing those rules very clearly and then enforcing against them.’

Some virus deadly than coronavirus is on its way,’ scientists warn

virus deadly than coronavirus

Deadly superbugs far worse than Covid-19 are reportedly coming and will wipe out 10 million people a year, claiming the lives of 350m people by 2050, top scientists have warned.

This is as a result of over-reliance on antibiotics which are on the brink of stopping working because they have become resistant. The crisis is being called the “biggest human health threat, bar none” by scientists.

Shaving, childbirth, small scratches or routine operations like hip replacements will become life-threatening as medicine will no longer work  and humans will be unable to fight off any infection.

Scientists say the use of antibiotics during the Coronavirus crisis is speeding up the problem.

“If you thought Covid was bad, you don’t want anti-microbial resistance,” said Dr Paul De Barro, biosecurity research director at Australia’s national science agency.

He added: “I don’t think I’m exaggerating to say it’s the biggest human health threat, bar none. Covid is not anywhere near the potential impact of AMR.

“We would go back into the dark ages of health.

“Simple things like scratches could kill you, childbirth could kill you, cancer treatment, major surgeries, diabetes, in the background in all of these, is often the use of antibiotics.

“You will end up with massive pressure on the health system – exactly the sort of things you are seeing with Covid. Think about intensive care units, hospital stays, access to medical treatment outside of the hospital system, the use of antibiotics in nursing, in treating pneumonia, all of these come into play.”

The World Health Organisation says resistance to antibiotics will cause 350m deaths by 2050.

It is already to blame for at least 700,000 deaths globally a year but experts believe this is a massive underestimate.

The figure is expected to reach 10m deaths annually without intervention.

Humans already massively over-rely on antibiotics and hospital staff are under strict guidelines to avoid unnecessarily prescribing drugs.

Professor Dame Sally Davies, former Chief Medical Officer for England, said: “Without effective antibiotics, would you opt for routine surgery, such as hip replacement, if the risk of dying from infection was unreasonably high or would you soldier on with your dodgy hip?

“Would you opt for cancer treatment in a world without antibiotics or would you decline treatment and focus instead on ticking some things off your ‘bucket list’?

“If antibiotics fail we could see a time where we all think twice about doing something as simple as gardening or shaving in case we cut ourselves, and the cut gets infected. Modern medicine simply would not be able to continue.”

A top Brit scientist warned the mass use of hand sanitizers could lead to an “armageddon situation” as unstoppable superbugs adapt to survive it.

Lincoln University academic Dr Andrew Kemp, who is the Head of Scientific Advisory Board on the British Institute of Cleaning Science, warns bacteria other than Covid-19 could adapt to survive the alcohol-based gels if we overuse them.

I have nothing to prove to anyone – Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristino Ronaldo

The world’s most popular athlete, Cristiano Ronaldo has reflected on his success laden career saying he has nothing to prove to anyone as his success speaks for itself.

Ronaldo’s comments come after his latest goals at Sweden’s Friends Arena, becoming the second highest goalscorer in international football.

Prior to the match on Tuesday, there were some speculation whether Portugal were ready to perform without Ronaldo, after Portugal demolished Croatia 4-1 in his absence, but the 35-year-old confidently brushed off those suggestions post-game, as his two goals ensured Portugal ran out 2-0 winners.

I have nothing to prove to anyone - Cristiano Ronaldo reflects on his success laden career

Two goals, his 100th and 101st at international level, secured a 2-0 win , adding to a hat-trick at the same stadium as Ronaldo single-handedly defeated Sweden in 2014 World Cup qualifying.

The Juventus forward who has won five ballon d’or awards, said afterwards: “I didn’t follow the comments. It’s an opinion.

“I knew I had left a mark at this stadium and I knew that, if I played, I would leave a mark again. I don’t care about provocations.

“What I have done in my career speaks for itself. No, I have to prove nothing to anyone, and when I have to prove it, I show it on the pitch.”

On his milestone goal, Ronaldo said: “I am very happy. Firstly, because the team won, which was the goal we had. Then the 100 mark and then the 101, with two goals, makes me very happy.

“Now the future is only for God. I feel good, I feel good for playing with these young players.”

‘The manager already knows me, there are no words.

“When I had the problem with my toe, I knew that I could recover for this game. I like being here, with this group, with this coach, with this staff. I knew that in the first game everything was going to be okay, our team is very good.

“I will go after [the international goals record] but the records are not an obsession.”

A teacher who allegedly had s3x with a minor nabbed through her google search

Married teacher on sex scandal

A 35-year-old teacher identified as Kandice Barber is currently facing trial for allegedly having sex with her 15-year-old student.

Following her arraignment in court, the teacher from Wendover, Buckinghamshire, denied the child sex offences and also told jurors the boy had pestered her after she gave him her phone number so he could discuss a problem he had with another student.

Aylesbury Crown Court however heard earlier that Ms Barber was a cover supervisor at Princes Risborough School and was bound by the same rules as teaching staff to not contact students outside school without the head’s permission. It was alleged that she had sex with the teenager in a field and sent topless pictures to him on Snapchat between September and October 2018, a claim she countered by saying her account was hacked.

Married teacher who allegedly had s3x with 15-year-old student nabbed through google search

Barber is accused of meeting up with the pupil for sex on three occasions late in 2018 in a field, in woodland and in her 4×4.

The court  also heard the boy admitted sex with Ms Barber after initially denying it when rumours of his alleged relationship with her were put to him by the head teacher in January 2019.

On Wednesday September 9, the jury heard that on September 30 2018 she searched “what is the name of someone you are having an affair with?” and the word “alibi” before Googling seconds later “when you have a plan of where you have been.”

She also searched “a lie of where you have been” before later looking up “good secluded areas,” and “Holiday Inn, Wycombe.”

Giving explanation for her actions, Ms Barber said;

“I was up at 5am as my mum and I were going to set up a car boot sale.

“On the way there was a name of a film that was bugging me,  so I Googled those words. We were trying to remember the film name.

“I thought the name had something to do with adultery but it turned out to be the film Fatal Attraction.”

She added that she had Googled the hotel for her son’s father to stay in while he visited and “good secluded areas” was in relation to wanting to take her dog for a walk off the lead as he “absolutely loves lakes.”

Married teacher who allegedly had s3x with 15-year-old student nabbed through google search

When Judge Francis Sheridan told Barber that though the boy called her three times, the majority of phone calls had been started by her, she responded by saying;

“A lot of the time I am calling because he has contacted me on Snapchat saying ‘call me, call me.’

“Now I think he was clearly infatuated and obsessed with me. For me it was all perfectly innocent conversation.”

It was also alleged that the teacher begged the boy to delete the messages between them following rumours that had floated around in school and at a meeting with the headteacher. Reacting to this, Barber said;

“At one point I asked the boy to delete messages between us because I was concerned about losing my job.

“My eldest son had got wind of the rumours, he is the type of person who would ask to see my phone.”

She added that after she told the boy she was uncomfortable with the calls and refused further contact, he sent her a message which read;

“Watch what’s going to happen, you’re going to lose your job, you’re going to lose your family.”

Ms Barber denied three counts of causing or inciting a child aged under 16 to engage in a sexual act, one count of sexual communication with a child, one count of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activities while in a position of trust, and one count of causing a child to watch a sexual act by a person in a position of trust.

Health Minister instructs hospitals to replace striking Doctors with students

health minister nigeria

The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, has directed the Chief Medical Directors and Managing Directors of the Federal tertiary hospitals to immediately replace striking resident doctors in their hospitals with consultants and doctors on the National Youth Service Corps.

Resident doctors in Nigeria commenced an indefinite strike on Monday, September 7 over the Federal government’s failure to meet their demands which includes payment of COVID-19 allowances among other demands.

In a statement released today Wednesday, September 9, Ehanire said the strike embarked by the doctors at a time when the country was battling the COVID-19 pandemic is ill-timed and ill-advised.

“lt is with deep concern that l view the ongoing strike by the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors which commenced yesterday (Tuesday) September 7, 2020.

We must remember that the primary duty of doctors and all health workers is to save lives. Embarking on a strike in this time that the country is battling with the COVlD-19 pandemic is ill-timed and ill-advised.

lt is a critical time in which all well-meaning medical professionals should close ranks and confront the common enemy, which is the COVlD-I9 pandemic threatening mankind.

This is therefore one strike too many. Besides, most of the demands have been met and others though difficult, are at an advanced stage of implementation. A little patience would have made a big difference.

The Federal Ministry of Health finds it necessary to ensure measures are put in place to mitigate the effect of this strike on the generality of our populace by directing the CMDs/MDs of our federal tertiary hospitals to immediately do the following: COVlD-19 treatment outlets should continue to function as before.

Emergency services should continue to run as before. Routine services should be maintained with Consultants, NYSC Doctors. Locum staffers to be brought in when and where necessary to forestall services disruption when applicable and affordable. ”

Ehanire also called on the striking resident doctors to return to work

”I call on the NARD to return to work and engage the Federal Government in completing the ongoing due process of implementing the MoU between NARD and government.

I wish to assure the general public that measures have been put in place to ensure that they continue to access services at all our federal tertiary hospitals across the country.” the statement read

Rhea Chakraborty’s family and lawyer had earlier indicated that they anticipated the actor’s arrest after her brother, Showik, was arrested on Friday.  Rhea’s father, Lt Col Indrajit Chakraborty (retd) had said in an emotional statement over the weekend;

“Congratulations India, you have arrested my son, I’m sure next on the line is my daughter and I don’t know who is next thereafter.”

“Rhea Chakraborty is ready for arrest as it’s a witch-hunt,” her lawyer Satish Maneshinde said before she was first questioned by the NCB on Sunday. As the NCB formally placed her under arrest, Maneshinde described it as “travesty of justice.

Maneshinde said;

“Three central agencies hounding a single woman , just because she was in love with a drug addict suffering from mental health issues for several years under the care of five leading psychiatrists in Mumbai, who ended up committing suicide due to consumption of Illegally administered medicines and used drugs.”
