Iraq reveals that over $150 billion of its oil money missing since the US invasion in 2003

Iraqi President Barham Salih has said that an estimated $150 billion of stolen oil money has been smuggled out of Iraq in corrupt deals since the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.

The Sunday, May 23 statement came as the Iraqi President submitted a draft Corrupt Funds Recovery Act to the Iraqi Parliament which he hopes that if passed into law would seek to recover the misappropriated funds through the cooperation of other governments and in partnership with international bodies.

“Of the close to a thousand billion dollars made from oil since 2003, an estimated $150 billion of stolen money has been smuggled out of Iraq,” Salih said in a televised speech.

“The draft law seeks to strengthen the powers of Iraqi nation in order to recover money stolen in corrupt deals, to hold corrupt people accountable and bring them to justice,” according to Salih.

He urged Iraqi lawmakers to discuss and approve the proposed legislation “to help curb this dangerous scourge that has deprived our people of enjoying the wealth of their country for many years.”

“Here I reiterate Iraq’s call, which we have previously issued at the United Nations General Assembly, for the formation of an international coalition to fight corruption along the lines of the international coalition against ISIS,” Salih said.

Salih said corruption is as dangerous as terrorism.

“Terrorism can only be eliminated by draining its sources of funding based on corruption money as a political economy of violent,” Salih added.

Iraq has a high level of government corruption, unemployment and a lack of basic services, including electricity and clean water, which has only gotten worse following decades of sanctions by the US, UN and war waged by the US in 2003.

The US currently has 2,500 troops in Iraq focused on the mission to defeat ISIS as part of Operation Inherent Resolve, the global coalition to defeat the remaining ISIS caliphate that controls parts of Iraq and Syria.

Man Sends His Wife Packing,After Finding N3.6m In Her Account And Their Son Died Because Of N25,000 Hospital Bills

A family lost their son because both parents refused to pay for the child’s medical bills. Both the husband and the wife had money in their accounts but were arguing about who exactly would go ahead and pay for the hospital bill. Eventually their disagreement went on for too long and their son unfortunately died.

The wife speaking out and trying to give her own side of the argument.

According to the story as reported by TVC, the wife said that up until the point when their son died, she had carried most of the financial burden of the household and claimed that her husband was irresponsible towards those burdens. She wanted the man to take accountability for his actions and finally provide for the health and wellness of their child and family.

She honestly thought her husband would rise to the occasion and never thought the child would eventually die. She maintained that the money in her account is her hard-earned money and that the man had no right to get angry and walk away from the marriage because she did not bring it out.

It is worthy of note to know that the medical bill in question was only N25,000.

The man eventually found out about the N3.6 million in the wife’s account when one day he went to pick up her phone to take a call and unfortunately for the woman, there on the phone was a bank alert notification that showed the amount of money in the woman’s account – over N3.6 Million.

So the child died because of N25,000 when there in the household was over N3.6 Million. Sad.

Mum staged daughter’s ‘terminal illness’ to obtain funding for vacation

A mother is facing an abuse and neglect investigation for allegedly faking her daughter’s terminal illness to “obtain funding for trips, housing, and other expenses of the last several years,” according to a complaint filed with the Stark County Family Court in Ohio.

Lindsey Abbuhl set up a GoFundMe account to raise money for her daughter, claiming she was ill, with more than $4,000 already received.

According to the complaint filed May 14, investigators with the Stark County Department of Job and Family Services did a forensic interview with the child and determined that there was “no medical evidence” to support the mother’s claim that her daughter was physically ill.

The complaint also alleges that Abbuhl had placed her daughter in counseling for the past three years “to learn how to ‘process her own death,'” telling the child’s counselor, who was going on maternity leave, that the child “may not be alive” when the counselor returned.

According to the complaint, when police went to confront Abbuhl with the allegation that she had fabricated her daughter’s medical condition, Abbuhl told them, “We did not intentionally do that.”

The child was then placed into the temporary custody of the Stark County Department of Job and Family Services, as her father, Jamie Abbuhl, is only allowed court-ordered visitations supervised by the mother, as part of a divorce process.

The complaint says Jamie Abbuhl claimed the mother did not allow him “to participate in any medical decisions” and that he “has no access to medical records.”

Lindsey Abbuhl’s attorney, Paul Kelley, reacting to the investigation said, “We are continuing to collect all of the facts on this case and my client adamantly asserts her innocence in this matter.”

“Once we’ve gathered all of the factual evidence, we will begin preparing our defense and may wish to address the media at that time,” Kelley said.

Meanwhile, GoFundMe say they have returned money to the donors as the company is aware that some people use the platform to carry out fraudulent practices.

“We are working with local law enforcement officials, and we will continue to support the investigation,” said Ese Esan, communications manager for GoFundMe.

“Fundraisers with misuse are very rare, and if a misuse of funds takes place on GoFundMe, donors are protected, and their donations are refunded.”

Lionel Messi, Barcelona star, to miss the club’s last game of the season

Football legend, Lionel Messi may have played his last game for Barcelona after it was confirmed by the club he will miss Sunday’s clash against Eibar.

Barca will finish their campaign with a trip to Eibar and are out of the title race so have nothing to play for.

Messi whose contract with Barcelona expires on July 1, has been given permission by Ronald Koeman to sit out this weekend’s game.

“The Argentine Leo Messi has not trained on Friday with the coach’s permission and he will not be in the squad for the game against Eibar on Saturday,” the club confirmed on Friday, May 21.

“The striker can enjoy a rest before next month’s Copa America after a season in which he is one of the players in the squad who has played most.”

Although Messi announced last year that he wanted to leave Barca on a free transfer, Barca are hopeful of convincing him to stay and team-mate Jordi Alba has urged him to stay at the club.

Manchester City and PSG have been touted as clubs that could sign him due to their financial strength with Man City seen as stronger favorites and the presence of former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola.

Messi has played 47 times in all competitions for Barcelona this season, scoring 38 goals and registering 11 assists.

Barca crashed out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage, and will finish the season with one piece of silverware after winning the Copa del Rey in April.

NDLEA arrests Brazilian based drug kingpin at Lagos airport and seizes $24,500 offered as bribe to compromise investigation and intercepts N8billion cocaine (photos)

A Brazil-based drug kingpin has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, who also intercepted 36 blocks of cocaine, weighing 27.95 kilogrammes with a street value of over N8billion at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja, Lagos.

A statement released by Femi Babafemi, spokesperson of the anti-drug agency, says the drug lord, Ejiofor Felix Enwereaku, who leads a syndicate was arrested at the airport on Friday 14th May, 2021 for importing 27.95kg of cocaine using their organised criminal gang, which specialises in tagging/planting drugs in innocent travellers’ luggage.

Based on intelligence, narcotic agents at the MMIA had on Saturday 8th May, 2021 intercepted a bag that arrived the Lagos airport from GRU, Brazil via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on the Ethiopian airline with baggage tag No- ET331199 but was disclaimed by an arriving passenger on the flight. The disclaimed bag was promptly secured by NDLEA operatives for investigation.

On Sunday, 9th May, 2021, a man came to the airport to make inquiry on how to get the disclaimed bag released. He was promptly arrested for investigation.

The disclaimed bag was opened in the presence of the arriving passenger and the man who came to negotiate the release of the disputed bag. When it was opened, it was found that the bag contained 36 blocks of cocaine, weighing 27.95kg. A follow up sting operation was carried out, which led to the arrest of Ejiofor Felix Enwereaku, the prime suspect, on Friday 14th May upon his arrival from Addis Ababa onboard Ethiopian airline.

During preliminary interrogation after his arrest, he confessed to have been contracted by his Ethiopian associate who is a notorious drug baron to claim and push out the consignment in Lagos, Nigeria. He further admitted to have paid the $24,500 bribe in three tranches to compromise NDLEA officers. The first was $10,000 delivered through his representative in Lagos and another $10, 000 via his First Bank account while the third tranche of $4,500 was paid at the point of his arrest.

His group is suspected to be responsible for recruiting traffickers to move illicit drugs to various destinations using Nigeria as their transit location and also planting drugs in the luggage of innocent travellers.” the statement in part read

Impressed by the outcome of the intelligence-led operational strategies that took weeks of painstaking efforts and closely monitored by him, Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, Brig. General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) commended the Commander, MMIA Command of the agency, Ahmadu Garba, his officers and men for their diligence and resilience in following up every lead in the case until the kingpin was successfully entrapped and arrested.

”I have warned that well henceforth not only go after the traffickers but with the same vigour target the cartels and the kingpins that operate them; the latest arrest is a clear confirmation that well match our words with action and that well come for those who will not back out of the criminal trade, wherever they are hiding pushing instruments of death through our borders to destroy the lives of our youths” Gen. Marwa stated.

Anthony Joshua has been ordered by the WBO to defend his heavyweight title against mandatory challenger Oleksandr Usyk following the collapse of his mega-fight with Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua has been ordered by the WBO to defend his heavyweight title against mandatory challenger Oleksandr Usyk following the collapse of his mega-fight with Tyson Fury.

The British Nigerian boxer was all set to face Fury in Saudi Arabia in August but an arbitration hearing ordered a trilogy between Wilder and Tyson Fury.

A judge ruled that Fury must go through with his contracted trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder, with the clash now set for July 24.

Now Joshua must also face another bout before a potential clash with Fury.

Joshua’s boxing promoter, Eddie Hearn requested an extension until May 24 to ‘show cause’ notice in order to ‘discuss the subject matter and other related affairs’ with Joshua, but Usyk’s team objected.

The WBO sided with the Ukrainian and the two heavyweights now have until May 31 to agree on a deal before purse bids will be called.

Usyk beat Derek Chisora in October and is undefeated in all of his 18 fights.

Over 70 officers left their U.S. Capitol Police force jobs after the Capitol Hill Riot

More than 70 officers have left the U.S. Capitol Police force in the aftermath of the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection, according to Gus Papathanasiou, chair of the Capitol Police Labor Committee.

The police force has warned it will take years to hire and train more officers to recoup its ranks and that current officers are working longer hours to fill staffing gaps, according to a Politico report.

The Saturday, May 22 report comes after the US House pf Reps passed a $1.9 billion supplemental funding bill for the Capitol Police on Thursday.

The bill now heads to the Senate, where it will need to win 60 votes before being sent to President Biden’s desk to be signed into law.

The bill gives the Capitol Police $43.9 million, $31.1 million of which is meant to go toward backfilling overtime until the department employs more officers.

“What keeps me awake at night is not the challenge of hiring and training more police officers, but keeping the officers we have right now,” Papathanasiou said in a statement according to Politico.

“We have many officers on the fence about whether to stay with this department.”

Papathanasiou said he is grateful for the supplemental funding but warned it doesn’t do enough to address the department’s staffing issues.

On Thursday, the House also passed a bill to set up a bipartisan, 9/11-style commission to investigate the riot.

After January 6, Trump was impeached for a second time by the House of Representatives for inciting the mob to attack the US house. He was subsequently cleared by the Senate.

Atletico Madrid Rejoice over their winning of LaLiga Santander 2020/21 title (photos)

Atletico Madrid are officially the champions of the 2020/21 Spanish LaLiga Santander season after a 2-1 victory away at Real Valladolid on Saturday, May 22.

Atletico Madrid

On the final day of the season that an Atletico loss or draw and a Real Madrid win would have given the title to the latter, Los Colchoneros had to come from behind to secure the three points, with Angel Correa and Luis Suarez both getting on the scoresheet.

Atletico Madrid

A magical story for Suarez, who was rejected by Barcelona just last season after he was told he was not in the coach’s plan, and had to reduce his salary to join Atletico.

Atletico Madrid

Luis Suarez’s 21st goal of the campaign secured a 2-1 comeback success at Real Valladolid as Atletico were crowned champions ahead of city rivals Real Madrid.

It’s tough,” Suarez said to Movistar after the game, fighting back tears. “The situation I had to live through, the way I was looked down on, but Atletico opened the door for me.

Atletico Madrid

“A lot of people have suffered with me – my wife, my children. Day by day, they are the ones who have suffered the most from my many years in football.”

Despite the complications, Suarez is proud of the season he and his Atletico teammates have had.

“We’ve had a great year,” Suarez added. “Despite the difficulties, we were the most consistent team and we’re the champions.

“In the first half of the season we had an efficiency that wasn’t normal.”

Concluding, Suarez said that Lionel Messi “will be happy, because we are friends”.

Atletico Madrid

This is the 11th league title that Atletico have won, and the second under Diego Simeone.

Atletico Madrid

Coach, Diego Simeone reacting to his club Atletico Madrid winning the title said;

“I’m happy for a lot of people,” Simeone said after the game. “It has been a very complex year, and so many people have been lost because of the virus, so for Atletico to be champions is different.

“It was a tough year, like our history; it’s one of the best years to be champions.”

Princess Latifa of Dubai, spotted in instagram months after friends raised alarm that she was being held against her will by her king father

Princess Latifa of Dubai appears to still be alive if new pictures released are to be believed.

New photographs uploaded to Instagram shows what looks to be Princess Latifa Al Maktoum,  daughter of Dubai ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who has allegedly been held captive for years against her will.

The snap shared by social media account “Shinny Bryn”, shows a photo of three women including a smiling Princess Latifa sitting around a table in public.

Princess Latifa of Dubai, spotted in instagram months after friends raised alarm that she was being held against her will by her king father

Keen observers also noticed that the photograph appears to have been flipped, based on the mirrored writing appearing on advertising in the background of the image.

The photo also shows face masks lying on the table, suggesting it could have been taken during the coronavirus pandemic period.

But Sky News reports say the picture is understood to be legitimate and is believed to have been taken in the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai.

The Instagram user wrote in a caption: “Lovely evening at MoE with friends” without naming or tagging Latifa.

Latifa’s disappearance from public life raised concerns over her welfare after it was claimed her father, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, was detaining her in solitary confinement claiming she was mentally unstable.

Her friends released secretly recorded disturbing video messages earlier this year showing Latifa claiming she had been held by her father’s people against her will since 2018 when she tried to flee across the Arabian Sea to go to the UK.

The 33-year-old princess had been captured by Navy commandos as she attempted escaping the UAE claiming she wasn’t free.

Her capture came after the abduction of her elder sister Princess Shamsa, 39.

In 2000, Shamsa fled from her family’s Longcross estate in a Range Rover.

But her escape attempt was foiled when she was grabbed off the streets of Cambridge and flown back to Dubai by private jet.

David Haigh, co-founder of the Free Latifa campaign and Detained International, told Sky news: “We confirm that there have been several potentially significant and positive developments in the campaign.

“We do not intend to comment further at this stage, a further statement will be issued at the appropriate time”.

Some COVID-19 patients developing a ‘big tongue’ complications emerges (Photos)

Doctors have discovered some COVID-19 patients are developing Macroglossia, a condition where someone’s tongue is inflamed and begins to swell so much they can not speak or eat.

Dr. James Melville, one of the top researchers of the condition, is aware of nine cases where a COVID-19 patient developed the condition.

‘It’s actually a relatively common condition, but not to the degree of those patients. Those are what we consider massive or giant macroglossia and those are extremely rare,’ he said.

big tongue

One of the patients he treated, Anthony Jones, woke up after surviving the critical case of COVID-19 that left him on a ventilator with his tongue swollen more than its normal size.

He has finally recovered, but Dr. Melville and other doctors remain perplexed over what might cause the rare complication.

big tongue

Dr. Melville treated the first two cases of COVID-related macroglossia early in the pandemic last year.

According to Daily Mail, there have been seven new cases of the condition related to COVID-19 since then, with each being the rare, massive version of the condition.

One case was that of Anthony Jones, a Houston man who developed the condition after being hospitalized with the virus.

Jones had to use a ventilator in order to handle the virus, and when he woke up after treatment, his tongue was so swollen that he could not speak or eat.

Dr. Melville had to perform surgery to reduce the massive size of Jones’s tongue and alleviate the inflammation. The operation was a success, but how Jones became inflicted with massive macroglossia is still unknown to doctors.

big tongue

Dr. Melville believes the inflammation is caused for the same reasons that other organs in someone’s body may become inflamed and swell after contracting the virus.

There are reports that some have had their hearts, or other organs, enlarge after contracting the virus.

‘We were noticing similar histological features with our COVID positive patients with other organs they were doing autopsies on, so say kidneys or lungs or heart,’ he said.

‘I think the [cases] we’re finding, and histology is proving that COVID may be causing, are a more exaggerated inflammatory reaction in the tongue, which might be causing the tongue to get bigger, but that’s all the research work that I’m doing trying to prove that.’

Typical causes of macroglossia include strokes, and laying in a prone position for a long time, as Jones was when he was in the hospital.

He believed that it was possible that patients who needed a ventilator to breathe when in the hospital with COVID-19 were sometimes turned over to their stomach to help them breathe easier.

Dr. Melville is working to find what other factors contributed to causing the tongue swelling.

Danny Masterson, US Actor, to stand trial for raping of 3 women

American actor, Danny Masterson, known for his role in That ’70s Show, must stand trial on three counts of rape, a judge said on Friday May 21.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge, Charlaine F. Olmedo ordered Masterson to trial on three counts of rape by force or fear, charges that could get him up to 45 years in prison.

This comes after three days of emotional testimony from three women who said the actor Danny Masterson raped them nearly 20 years ago

Judge Charlaine said she found the women’s testimony credible for the purposes of the preliminary hearing, where the bar for sufficient evidence is significantly lower than it will be at the forthcoming trial.

Masterson has pleaded not guilty with his lawyers saying they would prove his innocence.

During the hearing, they repeatedly challenged the women on discrepancies in stories. They suggested that the prosecution was tainted by anti-religious bias against the Church of Scientology.

Masterson is a prominent Scientologist, all three women are former Scientologists, and the church, as well as its teachings, reportedly came up during testimony.

The lawyers said the age of the incidents, which date from 2001 and 2003, made accurate memories impossible.

“Memories fade and memories change,” Masterson attorney Sharon Appelbaum said.

The judge said she found the women’s explanations credible that church teachings kept them from reporting their accusations to the police for years.

North Korea’s Kim Jong-un bans mullet haircuts, nose piercings, and skinny jeans in North Korea

North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un has reportedly banned mullet hairstyles and skinny jeans in North Korea.

The decision was made over concern that they reflect Western cultures that might influence young people in the country and impact his regime.

North Korean newspaper Rodong Sinmun – which is owned by the ruling Worker’s Party – wrote : ‘History teaches us a crucial lesson that a country can become vulnerable and eventually collapse like a damp wall regardless of its economic and defence power if we do not hold on to our own lifestyle.’

It went on to say: ‘We must be wary of even the slightest sign of the capitalistic lifestyle and fight to get rid of them.’

Those who repeatedly flout the strict laws on fashion – including a ban on colourfully dyed or spiked up hair and piercings will be sent to labour camps under laws put in place by Kim Jong-un.

North Koreans can only choose from between 15 approved hairstyles under the country’s laws, it has been claimed.

Nigerian man arrested for defrauding indian families on the pretext of selling Covid-19 injections used to treat Covid-19 infection

A 41-year-old Nigerian man has been arrested in Delhi for allegedly duping families of Covid-19 patients on the pretext of selling to them Remdesivir injections, used for the treatment of the infection.

Police arrested the accused identified as Chibuike P Daniel, from his rented apartment in the Khanpur area of South Delhi on Wednesday, May 19, and recovered Rs 50,500 in cash along with two laptops, 33 mobile phones, several SIM cards and ATM cards that were used in the offence.

According to the police, the Nigerian national allegedly put out his contact details on Facebook and other social media sites as a vendor of Remdesivir. When people called or messaged him, he promised to deliver the injections and asked for an advance payment. However, after receiving the amount, he stopped communicating with the victims.

Police said the accused was also involved in cheating over a hundred people by pretending to send them gifts and taking money from them as customs clearance fee at the airport.

Chibuike was arrested on the complaint of a victim who alleged that he did not deliver the ordered injections despite making an advance payment.

The complainant named Mosin Khan approached the police at Mohan Garden police station and said he was cheated of Rs 10,000 by the accused.

“Khan urgently needed three Remdesivir injections for his relative. He failed to get it from the hospital and nearby pharmacies. He then found a mobile number on social media and contacted the vendor. Mosin was asked to pay Rs 25,000 for each vial and make an advance payment of Rs 10,000. After he made the payment, the vendor blocked Khan’s number,” said a senior police officer.

A case was registered under sections of cheating. The Dwarka cyber cell team analysed the transaction details and call detail records of the mobile number given by Khan. On Wednesday, the police, with the help of informers, traced Daniel’s location and apprehended him from Khanpur in South Delhi.

The accused confessed to his crimes during the interrogation and told the police he was active on Facebook and cheated people there in the name of gift parcels.

Deputy Commissioner of Poilce (Dwarka) Santosh Kumar Meena, said the team found the accused had cheated over a hundred people with the same modus operandi.

“We have found that the accused is involved in cases all over India and our team is further investigating the matter to link more cases and find other victims,” said DCP Meena.

“During interrogation, the accused disclosed that he is from Nigeria, and came to India three-four years ago on a mediacl visa. His visa has expired but he along with his other associates indulged in cheating people on the pretext of custom clearance. They made friends on Facebook and offered them costly gifts. After that, they requested them to deposit money in their account number in the name of customs clearance of those gifts,” the DCP added.

”They used many mobile phones, forged SIM cards cads and bank accounts for this purpose. During the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, they also started allegedly cheating people on the pretext of providing medicines and injections required for treatment of Covid-19 patients,” the DCP said.

Efforts are being made to arrest the co-accused, police said, adding that many other victims across India have been contacted to register complaints in this regard for further probe.

Bishop Oyedepo kicks against excessive use of social media by young people as ‘they no longer have time to think’

Oyedepo rejects CAMA: Appointing a trustees over his church

The Chancellor of Covenant University, Ota, Ogun, and Senior Pastor of Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo, has warned young people against the excessive use of social media.

According to him, the honor of this generation has been wiped off as the young people are busy chatting all day with no time to think and develop themselves.

The clergyman who said this during the 15th Convocation Ceremony and Conferment of Honourary Doctorate Degrees and presentation of prizes in Ota, Ogun today May 21, added that the negative impact of social media on youths could not be overemphasized as it has made them to lose focus and rob them of their destinies.

“The social media saga has eroded the substance of destiny as it has unconsciously robbed youths of their future and their time.

The honour of this generation has been wiped off, chatting all day with no time left to think, plan programme and engage productively in the pursuit of any task.

Some professionals have classified social media addiction along with drugs, alcohol and sex.

“Social media that is supposed to be a plus to the youth, suddenly became a minus, as everything of value is delivered through investment of time,” he said.

Oyedepo  also called on young people to be focused in life and dedicate their time to their ambition.

”No one ever arrives at a future he cannot see, neither does anyone arrive at a future he is not prepared for. It is time for every youth to wake up from slumber and take his/her destiny in their hands” he said

Cassie recounts splitting up with her ex. Lover P.Diddy to be her own boss

15 years ago Cassie lit up the airwaves when she released her breakout hit “Me & U.”

In honor of the anniversary, Cassie has come out to talk about the changing music industry and her departure from Bad Boy Records, where she released her 2006 debut album Cassie.

cassie and p.diddy

The 34-year-old singer, who ended her romantic relationship with Sean “Diddy” Combs in 2018, married Alex Fine in 2019 and has welcomed two girls, Frankie and Sunny.

Since leaving Bad Boy, she has been releasing music independently via her Ventura Music label.

Speaking with Ciara on her Apple Music show “Level Up Radio” Cassie revealed:

“I left Bad Boy. I was able to get out of my deal. So now I’m independent,” Cassie confirmed.

“So that’s just very different from the start.”

“It’s so different. And I mean, even now I’m just in a different place in my life,” said Cassie, who is happy being her own boss and making her own decisions.

“It’s the place to be, just to own your stuff and just… You could do whatever you want. You could wake up tomorrow and be like, ‘Okay, I want to record four records. And then put them out and it’s mine. And what you going to say?’”

Ciara, who launched her own independent label Beauty Marks Entertainment, concurred. “And you don’t feel the pressure of like having to wait on if someone’s going to like something or have to wait on someone else to make a decision for you,” she said.

“You get to make the decision for yourself. And that’s true girl empowerment right there.”

Ciara also handed Cassie her flowers, calling “Me & U” a “classic.”

“When I hear people playing it still, I’m like, ‘That song is so old,’” said Cassie.

“But it’s like, ‘Okay, I’ll accept the classic.’ I’ll accept the classic.”

Zimbabwean Traditional court fines Robert Mugabe’s widow, Grace Mugabe, two goats and five cows for ‘improperly’ burying the late President

The widow of former Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe has reportedly been fined five cows and two goats for ‘improperly’ burying her husband after he passed away.

A traditional court met on Thursday morning in the absence of Grace Mugabe, to reach their decision, a source close to the family said.

Grace Mugabe

The former first lady, known as Gucci Grace because of her lavish spending lifestyle, is accused of burying her husband, who died in 2019 at the age of 95, in the courtyard of his home in Kutama.

Grace Mugabe

Chief Zvimba, born Stanley Mhondoro, said Mugabe was supposed to be buried in a place chosen by his mother or immediate family. He then called for the body to be exhumed and reburied according to custom.

At the time of Mugabe’s death, there was a dispute between Grace Mugabe and President Emmerson Mnangagwa over where Robert should be buried.

Mnangagwa wanted Mugabe to be interred in the National Heroes Acre burial ground and national monument near Harare. While Grace wanted her husband to be buried in his hometown, away from the capital city.

Robert Mugabe, who ruled Zimbabwe for 37 years had a strong grudge against his former vice president Mnangagwa, who was placed in charge of the country after Mugabe was forced to resign in November 2017.

El Salvador officials confirmed in a statement that they were excavating graves discovered at the house of the former police officer that contained as many as 40 bodies, most of them believed to be women.

The former police officer was detained on May 8 as the main suspect in the murder of a woman and her daughter, after neighbours alerted the authorities.

During a search at his home police uncovered lifeless bodies.

Justice and Security Minister Gustavo Villatoro said DNA samples were being collected from area residents who had a missing relative to see if it matched with any of the bodies.

He added that the depth of the holes suggested more than one person had taken part in the burials, according to Sky News.

Exhuming all of the bodies could take another month, while digging will continue in other parts of the property during this time, authorities added.

Families of missing people, who believed their relatives could be among the bodies, gathered outside the house on Thursday, as forensic workers removed skeletons from the ground.

“Ban over ‘open grazing’ is irreversible and will be enforced” – Gov Akeredolu tells Malami

Ondo State governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has attacked the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, over his comments on the decision of the Southern Governors Forum to ban open grazing in their respective States.

Malami while speaking in an interview with Channels TV on Wednesday May 19, said that the ban on open grazing was unconstitutional as it can be likened to the banning of all spare parts dealers in the Northern parts of the country.

Reacting to Malaimi’s comment, Governor Akeredolu in a statement he personally signed and issued in Akure said it was ‘most unfortunate that the AGF is unable to distill issues as expected of a Senior Advocate.’

Read his statement below

”I have just read the press statement credited to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Shehu Malami SAN on the resolution of the Southern Governors Forum to ban open grazing in their respective States. The AGF is quoted to have said that this reasoned decision, among others, is akin to banning all spare parts dealers in the Northern parts of the country and is unconstitutional.

It is most unfortunate that the AGF is unable to distill issues as expected of a Senior Advocate. Nothing can be more disconcerting. This outburst should, ordinarily, not elicit response from reasonable people who know the distinction between a legitimate business that is not in anyway injurious and a certain predilection for anarchy. Clinging to an anachronistic model of animal husbandry, which is evidently injurious to harmonious relationship between the herders and the farmers as well as the local populace, is wicked and arrogant.

Comparing this anachronism, which has led to loss of lives, farmlands and property, and engendered untold hardship on the host communities, with buying and selling of auto parts is not only strange. It, annoyingly, betrays a terrible mindset.

Mr Malami is advised to approach the court to challenge the legality of the Laws of the respective States baning open grazing and decision of the Southern Governor Forum taken in the interest of their people. We shall be most willing to meet him in Court.

The decision to ban open grazing stays. It will be enforced with vigour.”

Nancy Pelosi ralies global leaders to boycott China 2022 Olympics

US House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi has slammed China’s human rights violations against the Uighurs and other ethnic minorities, calling for a boycott of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, saying that global leaders who attend would lose their moral authority.

US legislators have been increasingly vocal about an Olympic boycott or venue change, lashing out at American corporations for supporting China, arguing their silence about what the US State Department has deemed genocide against Uighur and other ethnic minorities in China was abetting the Chinese government.

Pelosi, a Democrat, told a bipartisan congressional hearing on the issue on Tuesday, May 18, that heads of state around the world should shun the games, scheduled for February.

Pelosi said she was proposing “a diplomatic boycott” in which “lead countries of the world withhold their attendance at the Olympics”.
“Let’s not honour the Chinese government by having heads of state go to China,” Pelosi said.

“For heads of state to go to China in light of a genocide that is ongoing – while you’re sitting there in your seat – really begs the question, what moral authority do you have to speak again about human rights any place in the world?” she said.

An independent United Nations panel said in 2018 that it had received credible reports that at least one million Uighur and other Muslims had been held in camps in China’s western Xinjiang region. Beijing describes the camps as vocational training centres that aim to stamp out “extremism” and strongly rejects accusations of abuse and genocide.

Democratic Congressman Jim McGovern added that the games should be relocated.

“If we can postpone an Olympics by a year for a pandemic, we can surely postpone the Olympics for a year for a genocide,” said McGovern, referring to the decision by Japan and the International Olympic Committee to delay the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This would give the IOC time to relocate to a country whose government is not committing atrocities,” McGovern said.

Last month, Republican Senator Mitt Romney introduced an amendment to broader legislation to counter China that would implement a US diplomatic boycott, while a coalition of human rights activists on Tuesday called for athletes to boycott the games and put pressure on the IOC.

US President Joe Biden’s administration has said it hopes to develop a joint approach with allies on participation in the Beijing Olympics.

Asked about Pelosi’s comments, a senior Biden administration official told the Reuters news agency that its position on the 2022 Olympics had not changed.

But proponents of US athletes competing at the Olympics say it would be unfair to punish athletes, and that the games would provide a platform for the US, which has one of the highest Winter Olympic medal counts, to show its vitality on the global stage.

Sarah Hirshland, the chief executive officer of the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC), said in a written statement to the congressional hearing that the USOPC was concerned about the “oppression of the Uyghur population”, but that barring US athletes from the games was “certainly not the answer”.

“Past Olympic boycotts have failed to achieve political ends – and they should give all of us pause in considering another boycott,” she said.

An annual report from the National Bureau of Statistics of China showed a sharp and sudden decline in birth rates in Xinjiang amid reports of mass internment and population control of the Muslim Uighurs.

UK: Over 3,000 cases of Indian COVID-19 variant recorded

The UK Health Secretary, Matt Hancock has told members of the parliament (MP) that there are now almost 3,000 cases of the Indian variant in the UK.

Matt Hancock disclosed this while giving a general update on Covid-19 as fears mount about the Indian variant.

He said 2,967 cases of the COVID-19 variant have now been recorded, having stood at more than 2,300 on Monday – a 28% increase.

The secretary also confirmed that surge testing and vaccinations will be deployed in Bedford, Burnley, Hounslow, Kirklees, Leicester, and North Tyneside.

He revealed that Ministers are also supporting the Scottish government, which is taking similar steps in Glasgow and Moray.

“What this means in practice is we are putting in place more testing and more testing sites,” Mr. Hancock said.

“On vaccinations, we are making more vaccinations available to everyone who is eligible.”

The health secretary told MPs that in Bolton and Blackburn with Darwen, where the most cases of the variant have been recorded, 26,094 jabs and 75,000 extra tests have been administered in the last week.

David Beckham and Steven Gerrard inducted into Premier League Hall of Fame

Steven Gerrard and David Beckham have become the latest players to be inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame.

The former England captains are the seventh and eighth players to be handed the honour, joining Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry, Eric Cantona, Roy Keane, Frank Lampard and Dennis Bergkamp.

Gerrard spent 17 years at Liverpool – including 12 as captain – during which time he scored 120 goals and provided a further 92 assists in 504 Premier League appearances.

David Beckham

Those figures place him 11th on the all-time list for appearances in the Premier League, 18th for goals and seventh for assists.

Gerrard won the Premier League Player of the Month award on six separate occasions but failed to get his hands on the title itself, finishing as a runner-up in 2014, 2009, and 2002.

Speaking following Gerrard’s induction, former England manager Glenn Hoddle paid tribute to him, saying: “You could play Steven in many, many positions and he’d be the best player on the team.

“He was a wonderful player – had everything. You wouldn’t want to play against him, you wouldn’t want to have to mark him.”

Gerrard is joined in the Hall of Fame by David Beckham, who won six Premier League titles during his time at Manchester United.

David Beckham

He made his Premier League debut in 1995 and went on to make 265 appearances, scoring 62 goals and registering 80 assists – the ninth-highest figure in the competition’s history.

Fellow Hall of Fame inductee Frank Lampard, who played with Beckham for England, said: “David Beckham, as a player, was top class.

“He was the top free-kick taker in the world during his career. From a Premier League stand, we never saw the like of him during his career.

“He was also a statesman, very well thought of in England and I think his legacy all round is very well respected throughout the game.”

Phil Neville, who lined up alongside Beckham with England and Manchester United, added: “That technique of hitting the ball from right to left, those diagonals, the free-kicks over the walls in big games – that wasn’t by accident. That was by hard work.

“He would be a £100m player now, simply because of the fact that his corners, his free-kicks, his crossing ability was a centre-forward’s dream.

“Becks was a dream because he used to do your work in defence and going forward. He was so good in both areas.”

Woman testifies waking up to find Danny Masterson, US Actor, raping her

A woman told a judge Tuesday, May 18, that she was slipping in and out of consciousness on a night 18 years ago when she said she found actor Danny Masterson raping her.

The woman testified at a preliminary hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court, where a judge is deciding whether there is probable cause to order a trial for the “That ’70s Show” actor, who is accused of raping three women.

The alleged victim, who identified herself on the witness stand only as Jen B, said: “When I came to, he was on top of me. The first thing I recall is grabbing his hair to pull him off.”

Masterson has pleaded not guilty, and his lawyer, Thomas Mesereau, has said he would prove his client’s innocence.

Jen B. testified that she and Masterson were part of the same group of friends who were tied to the Church of Scientology in the late 1990s and early 2000s and that she had gone to Masterson’s house to pick up a set of keys on April 25, 2003, and got stuck there.

She said Masterson had given her a drink with vodka in it at her request — her first of the night — but said she was “blurry,” weak and queasy about 20 minutes later and had no strength to resist as Masterson threw her in his jacuzzi.

She said when she got out she couldn’t even sit up. A mutual friend, Luke Watson, tried to help her.

“I couldn’t walk or stand, so he put me on the tile on the ground,” said Jen B., who began crying but remained composed throughout her testimony. “I said, ‘Luke I can’t see,’ and he said, ‘Open your eyes,’ and I didn’t know my eyes were closed. I couldn’t open my eyelids. I felt really, really sick.”

She testified that Masterson carried her upstairs, where she vomited, then put her in his shower. She said she began losing consciousness but was awake to find Masterson rubbing soap on her bare breasts. She said she tried to punch him in the face but was too weak and only landed lightly on his chest.

She testified that he put her on the bed and raped her and has only flashes of memory in the minutes that followed. She said that after she failed to get Masterson off her by pulling his hair, she put a pillow in his face, but he pushed it back on her.

She said he pulled a gun out of his nightstand drawer to threaten her.

During cross-examination, Mesereau challenged her over why the gun made no appearance in a police report she filed the following year.

“Do you think that the police just forgot to put it in?” Mesereau said. Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo forbade the question after a prosecution objection.

Danny Masterson

Mesereau repeatedly asked Jen B. about inconsistencies between her 2004 police report and a 2003 “knowledge report” she filled out about the incident for the church as it tried to mediate between her and Masterson. She acknowledged there were differences but said she tried to be truthful in every case.

Jen B. testified that in the following days, bruises appeared on her wrists and neck area and that she had incredible pain in her genitalia.

She said the leadership of the Church of Scientology, of which her parents and all her friends were members, strongly discouraged her from going to the police, pointing out that by policy she would be declared a “suppressive person” if she made a report against a member in good standing like Masterson.

“I would lose my family and everyone I knew,” she said, though in June 2004 she decided to go to the police anyway.

Mesereau said she had “mischaracterized” the Scientology response.

In a lawsuit that the women filed against the church and Masterson, the church denied ever engaging in any harassment.

In Tuesday’s testimony, Jen B. acknowledged prosecutors told her in 2004 that her case had been rejected in part because there were too many witnesses against her. She returns to the stand Wednesday, May 19, for the hearing that is expected to last four days.

Gordon Strachan reveals how Sir Alex Ferguson ‘controlled’ every aspect of their lives to get the best

Former Manchester United player, Gordon Strachan has revealed how iconic football manager Sir Alex Ferguson ‘controlled’ every aspect of his players’ lives to get the very best out of them.

Ferguson is one of football’s most successful managers of all time having won a long list of trophies in Europe while coaching  Aberdeen and most notably Manchester United.

Strachan, who played under the legendary boss at both clubs, claims his former manager would even speak to players’ wives and babysitters to ensure he was in the loop on every little detail in the lives of the players.

In an interview with talkSPORT, Strachan said: “He used to control your life and your family life!

“He even had a team talk with the wives before a cup final to say, ‘do not take him shopping, he’s resting. Give him what he wants, eating-wise’.

“There would be hell breaking loose now with that, there would be all sorts of screaming and shouting.

“He’d just say ‘look after them, make sure they don’t do too much. If they’re getting stressed out, you’ll have to deal with their stress’.

“He even used to control the babysitters that we used to have at Aberdeen! Literally, my babysitters were Eric Black and Bryan Gunn, they used to look after my kids.

“It was good because he’d be completely in control. What he’d do is make sure the youth team players never went out on a Saturday night. He’d get the babysitters together and say, ‘what time did Strachan come in? Was he with McGhee? Did he have a curry?’

“So he’d cover all things like that. We didn’t like it at the time, but when you look back now, I really did like it because it controlled my life with discipline.

“It’s a bit like [Marcelo] Bielsa. His training is hard – he’s hard. You wouldn’t say it was great fun, but if you ask any player they’d love it because they’re winning games of football.”

Strachan won two Scottish top-flight titles under Ferguson at Aberdeen, before reuniting with him at Old Trafford in 1986.

The former Celtic boss admitted Ferguson used to ‘bring the devil out of you’ while on the pitch.

He added: “What he’s got out of people is incredible.

“At times he’d bring the devil out of you on the football pitch.

“Sometimes you’d walk off the pitch and go, ‘wow, did I just say that to somebody? Did I just run to the referee and scream and shout just because I’ve been told by the manager to scream and shout at the referee?’

“There would be times we’d go to Celtic or Rangers and he’d say, ‘if they’ve got five players around the referee, I want six!’”

Senate advises Nigerian Govt. to pause the 5G network deployment

The Senate on Wednesday, May 19, urged the federal government to halt the deployment of 5th generation (5G) network in Nigeria for now.

This followed the consideration and adoption of the report of the joint Senate Committee on Communications, Science and Technology, ICT, Cyber Crime and Primary Healthcare and Communicable Diseases on the “Status of 5G network in Nigeria and its impact on Nigerian citizens.”

The committee recommended that Nigeria should still observe the trend of 5G deployment around the globe and engage in extensive sensitization of the public through all channels before the commencement of commercial deployments in the country, according to Daily Trust.

The committee urged the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), in collaboration with the Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), Federal Ministry of Health, Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, Federal Ministry of Environment, and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) among others to locally conduct a scientific experimental study over a period of about six months to ascertain if a correlation exists between 5G networks and public health.

The chairman of the joint committee, Senator Oluremi Tinubu (APC, Lagos), while presenting the report, said the overwhelming aggregate opinions from majority of stakeholders was that it is appropriate for Nigeria to join the comity of nations that are engaged in the deployments of 5G for all its inherent gains.

She said the joint panel was convinced that having witnessed what has been achieved by its “lesser ancestors” such as 3G and 4G, the technological impact of 5G will be such that will revolutionize Nigerians’ way of life from education to agriculture, security to entertainment, and governance in general if the technology is deployed.

The committee clarified that there was no 5G deployment in Nigeria at the moment and that no license had been issued to any Mobile Number Operator on commercial basis.

It urged the relevant government agencies to prepare the ground by putting the necessary infrastructure and technology in place for its eventual deployment.

“This period of ground preparation is expected to be utilized to complete feasibility studies for the various broadband projects in order to ascertain actual cost implications for their implementation, complete sustainability plans, provide enabling environment including free-Right of Way (RoW); tax waivers, sustainable power supply, improve security of men, materials and equipment, eliminate multiple regulations and charges, recognize telecommunications infrastructure as public utility infrastructure; and engender public trust and confidence,” Senator Oluremi Tinubu said.

Naomi Campbell has ‘secretly dating and living with someone’ secretly for over 18 months

Naomi Campbell, 50, revealed on Tuesday, May 18, that she has welcomed a child.

New reports now claim Naomi has been in a relationship in the US privately for the past 18 months.

For several years, the catwalk model has frequently spoken about her desire to become a mum and said “science” can help her to achieve her dreams.

Many fans have speculated that Naomi, who turns 51 on Saturday, May 22, may have used a surrogate and did not carry her baby herself.

But Naomi has remained tight-lipped about it all and only informed a select few members of her friends and family to share her baby news with.

She also kept the information hidden from her team and only  told them an hour before yesterday’s announcement.

A source close to Naomi told The Sun last night: “Naomi has really mellowed in the past year and is in a wonderful place in life.

“She has been living in America with her boyfriend and is really happy. It finally felt like the perfect time to become a mother and she is over the moon.

“The first lockdown allowed her to stop and take stock of the important things and she decided now was the time to properly look into starting a family.”

Naomi has previously expressed that she does long to have children, with or without a partner in her life.

In 2014, the supermodel said: “I do want to have children, whether I have a man or not. I will have it on my own.”

Victor Moses joins Spartak Moscow, Russian Premier League club, on permanent deal for €4.5million

Russian Premier League club, Spartak Moscow have agreed to sign Victor Moses on a permanent deal from Chelsea.

The former Nigeria international joined the Russian outfit last summer on loan after failing to win over former Blues boss Frank Lampard. His temporary stay in Russia has proved to be a success after he scored four goals and made several assists in 19 appearances as Spartak finished runners-up to champions Zenit St Petersburg.

The club confirmed that they will trigger the option in his loan deal to keep the 30-year-old on a permanent basis, with reports from Goal claiming the Blues will receive a €4.5million (?2.2billion) fee in three installments.

‘His contract would be automatically redeemed if the team finished in the top three, and we finished second,’ Spartak’s PR director Anton Fetisov told RIA Novosti.

Victor Moses spent the first half of last season on loan with Turkish club Fenerbahce, before moving to Inter Milan.

Senate currently proposing 15 years imprisonment for anyone paying ransom to kidnappers

Senate Prsident tells Buhari to address Nigerians

A bill seeking to prohibit the payment and receipt of ransom for the release of any person kidnapped, imprisoned or wrongfully confined in the country was on Wednesday May 19 considered by the Nigerian senate.

The bill titled Terrorism Prevention (Amendment) Bill, 2021 which stipulates a 15-year jail sentence for anyone found guilty of such action is being sponsored by Senator Ezenwa Francis Onyewuchi and it scaled second reading during plenary.

Onyewuchi who raised an alarm of kidnapping becoming a lucrative business in the country, said the bill essentially seeks to substitute for section 14 of the Principal Act a new section to read: “Anyone who transfers funds, makes payment or colludes with an abductor, kidnapper or terrorist to receive any ransom for the release of any person who has been wrongfully confined, imprisoned or kidnapped is guilty of a felony and is liable on conviction to a term of imprisonment of not less than 15 years.”

He added;

“Kidnapping is on the increase in Nigeria and it is prevalent across all the geopolitical zones.

“Some blame the rise of this criminal activity on poverty, religion, politics, deficiency of existing laws, unemployment, connivance of security agents, corruption, and greed among others.

“Our unemployed youths are also turning out to kidnapping to get money (ransom) as a survival strategy.

“Whatever the reason, it is most obvious that kidnapping in Nigeria puts everyone at risk, the rich and the poor, old and young, male and female, foreigner or indigene, expatriate or non-expatriate, traditional rulers and religious leaders, among others”

Pointing out that countries like USA and the United Kingdom do not support payment of ransoms to kidnappers, Onyewuchi also cited a report compiled by the Financial Times and the USA Global Risk Consultancy in November, 2019, which revealed that Nigeria has the highest rate of kidnaps for ransom of both locals and foreigners in all of Africa with kidnappers operating in each of its 36 states.

He said;

“Payments of terrorist ransoms is illegal under the UK Terrorism Act 2000 while the USA adheres to a strict No-Concessions policy on the payment of ransom.

“The continuous payment of ransom must not be encouraged, in addition government should provide adequate security and strengthen the economy as a matter of urgency, accelerate its poverty alleviation programs, provide employment opportunities targeting youths who are mostly involved in abductions and kidnappings, strengthen our law enforcement agencies, and provide the necessary support to end the menace of kidnapping.”

The Terrorism Prevention (Amendment) Bill, 2021 was referred to the Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters for further legislative work after scaling second reading.

According to Folha de Sau Paulo, MC Kevin tried to jump to the balcony located in the room below, but misjudged the distance and ended up crashing into the side of the swimming pool at the hotel.

Lady Gaga recounts how she encountered her ‘darkest moments’ after being raped by a record producer

American music star, Lady Gaga has opened up on one of her darkest moment in an emotional interview on the premiere episode of Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry’s mental health docuseries The Me You Can’t See on Apple TV+.

The pop star and Oscar winner revealed she was raped at 19 by a music producer who “dropped [her] off pregnant on a corner” following months of abuse.

Lady Gaga spoke through tears as she recalled her trauma during the appearance. She recounted how the producer threatened to burn her music if she didn’t take her clothes off.

The singer said;

“They didn’t stop asking me, and then I just froze, and I just – I don’t even remember.

“I do not ever want to face that person again.”

Gaga further said that her buried pain manifested in a physical way that caused numbing in her body. She added;

“And then I was sick for weeks and weeks after.

“And I realized that it was the same pain that I felt when the person who raped me dropped me off pregnant on a corner, at my parent’s house, ’cause I was vomiting and sick, ’cause I had been being abused. I was locked away in a studio for months.”

It wasn’t until years later, when Gaga began experiencing chronic pain for which her doctor advised her to see a psychiatrist. She then discovered she was suffering from PSTD, a diagnosis which the singer first went public with in 2016 and previously discussed with Oprah during Winfrey’s 2020 Vision: Your Life in Focus tour.

She added;

“First I felt full-on pain, then I went numb. I realized it was the same pain I felt when the person who raped me dropped me off pregnant on the corner, at my parents’ house, because I was vomiting and sick. Because I was being abused. I was locked away in a studio for months.

“I had a total psychotic break, and for a couple years, I was not the same girl.

“Even if I have six brilliant months, all it takes is getting triggered once to feel bad.

“And when I say I feel bad, I mean I want to cut. Think about dying. Wondering if I’m ever going to do it. I learned all the ways to pull myself out of it.

“What’s so interesting is the line I walk, feeling like I wanna cut myself and feeling like I don’t, are actually real close together.

“Everybody thinks it’s gotta be a straight line, that it’s like every other virus, that you get sick and then you get cured. It’s not like that. It’s just not like that. And actually, I think that traps people.

“I don’t tell this story for my own self-service, because, to be honest, it’s hard to tell.

“I feel a lot of shame about it. How do I explain to people that I have privilege, I’ve got money, I’ve got power, and I’m miserable? How do you do that? I’m not here to tell my story to you because I want anybody to cry for me. I’m good. But open your heart up for somebody else. Because I’m telling you, I’ve been through it and people need help. So, that’s part of my healing, being able to talk to you.”

Gaga first revealed her sexual assault in a 2014 radio interview with Howard Stern. She however, didn’t name her abuser.

Meghan Markle would have killed herself but did’nt – Prince Harry

Meghan praises Prince Harry for being a proud 'feminist'

Prince Harry has said that the only thing that stopped Meghan Markle from committing suicide when she was pregnant with their first child was her concern for him.

Speaking in a new bombshell documentries The Me You Can’t See, produced by Oprah Winfrey, Harry opens up about Meghan’s suicidal thoughts, admitting the loss of his mum Princess Diana played a key role in his wife’s decision not to kill herself.

He said the only thing stopping his wife, who was pregnant at the time, from killing herself during their time as royals was because it would’ve been “unfair” on Harry and their unborn child, Archie.

“The thing that stopped her from seeing it through was how unfair it would be on me after everything that had happened to my mum and to now be put in a position of losing another woman in my life, with a baby inside of her, our baby,” he said.

“The scariest thing for her was her clarity of thought. She hadn’t ‘lost it.’ She wasn’t crazy. She wasn’t self-medicating, be it through pills or through alcohol. She was absolutely sober. She was completely sane. Yet in the quiet of night, these thoughts woke her up.”

The Duke of Sussex also revealed how Meghan said she was considering suicide before a charity event in London.

“I’m somewhat ashamed of the way that I dealt with it,” he said.

“And of course, because of the system that we were in and the responsibilities and the duties that we had, we had a quick cuddle, and then we had to get changed and had to jump in a convoy with a police escort and drive to the Royal Albert Hall for a charity event and then step out into a wall of cameras and pretend as though everything’s OK.

“There wasn’t an option to say, ‘You know what? Tonight we’re not going to go. Because just imagine the stories that come from that.”

“While my wife and I were in those chairs, gripping each other’s hand, the moment the lights go down, Meghan starts crying,” Harry said.

“I’m feeling sorry for her, but I’m also really angry with myself that we’re stuck in this situation.

“I was ashamed that it got this bad. I was ashamed to go to my family. Because to be honest with you, like a lot of other people my age could probably relate to, I know that I’m not gonna get from my family what I need.”

Harry also said he feared he would raise his son, Archie, alone and Meghan would end up like his mother, Princess Diana.

Meghan Markle

He opened up about experiencing panic attacks and anxiety for several years and the difficulty of dealing with the trauma after his mother’s death,.

The 36-year-old also shared that he was “willing” to use drugs and alcohol to “mask” how he was feeling, although didn’t know at the time he was using it as a barrier.

He said he feels it’s his “duty to break that cycle” he went through for son Archie.

Harry said: “If you have been through something that doesn’t mean your kids or everybody else has to go through the same thing you’ve been through.

“I know it’s my responsibility my duty to break that cycle.”

He continued: “I had a son who I far rather be solely focused on, rather every time I look into his eyes wondering if my wife is going to end up like my mother and I’m going to look after him myself.”

He admitted it was one of the “biggest reasons to leave” the UK.

Meghan revealed she felt suicidal as a senior royal during the couple’s controversial tell-all interview with Oprah in March.

The ceasefire was brokered by a coalition of US, Egypt, Jordan, UAE and the UN meeting with the Israeli and Palestinian government. The ceasefire began on Friday May 21, bringing an end  to 11 days of fighting in which more than 240 people were killed, most of them Palestinians in Gaza.

Both Israel and Hamas have claimed victory in the conflict.

US President Joe Biden reacting to the truce said the ceasefire brought “genuine opportunity” for progress.

Soon after the ceasefire started at 02:00 on Friday (23:00 GMT on Thursday), large numbers of Palestinians took to the streets in cars and on foot to celebrate.

In Gaza, drivers honked their horns, while loudspeakers from mosques pronounced “the victory of the resistance”.

The fighting began on 10 May after weeks of rising Israeli-Palestinian tension in occupied East Jerusalem that culminated in clashes at a holy site revered by both Muslims and Jews.

Hamas then began firing thousands of rockets into Israel after warning Israel to withdraw from the site most of which were intercepted or fell into Palestine territory.

Israel responded with devastating  retaliatory air strikes and at least 232 people, including more than 100 women and children, in Gaza, according to its health ministry.

Israel has said at least 150 militants were among those killed in Gaza. Hamas has not given casualty figures for fighters.

In Israel 12 people, including two children, were killed, its medical service says.

The Israeli military says more than 4,300 rockets were fired towards its territory by militants and that it struck more than 1,000 militant targets in Gaza.

The Israeli Political Security Cabinet said on Thursday night that it had “unanimously accepted the recommendation” for a ceasefire.

“The political leaders emphasised that the reality on the ground will determine the future of the campaign,” the statement said.

An Israeli official told ministers that Hamas was “deterred and suffered serious blows”, according to the Ynet news website while the Israeli Defence Minister Benny Gantz said on Twitter that the Gaza offensive had yielded “unprecedented military gains”.

A Hamas official told the Associated Press news agency that the ceasefire announced by Israel amounted to a “victory” for the Palestinian people and a ‘defeat’ for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
