YouTuber, Logan Paul survives 8-round bout against Floyd Mayweather, no winner declared

YouTuber Logan Paul escaped as he fought Floyd Mayweather to the final of their exhibition boxing match on Sunday night, with no knockout at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.

Retired five-weight world champion Mayweather (50-0) took to the ring for the first time since a stoppage victory over kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in an exhibition contest in December 2018. Paul, meanwhile, was fighting for the third time, having drawn an exhibition bout with fellow YouTube personality KSI in 2018 before facing him again in a rematch a year later.

No official winner was announced, as per exhibition rules, but a knockout was allowed though it did not materialise in the fight.

After the fight Mayweather, 44, played down his failure to stop Paul and admitted that he may never fight again after failing to defeat the Youtuber.

Logan Paul survives eight-round fight against Floyd Mayweather with no knockout in their exhibition boxing match

Mayweather said: ‘I wanted to give people a show and he was fighting to survive, he was the bigger guy but his background was wrestling so was good at tying me up.

‘Just going the distance was a win for him. He can grapple and was good at holding. When a guy that size is holding you, it’s hard to get him off you. I had fun, he did too. It was cool.

‘A guy that’s retired, training a few days a week, for me to be retired, be a grandfather and fight a guy in his 20’s. When the money comes, we will see who the winner is.

Logan Paul survives eight-round fight against Floyd Mayweather with no knockout in their exhibition boxing match

‘I am going into the Hall of Fame, I have nothing to prove. If they are happy with grappling and holding for eight rounds, that’s good for them. I hope the fans were pleased. I have been in this sport for so long, I was letting people see I can come out at the age of 44 and bring 30,000 to the stadium and bring good pay-per-view numbers.

‘I am not going to perform like I was 19, it’s all about growth and aging. I can’t fight like when I fought people like Gatti and people like that. It’s sad Pacquiao is coming out to fight again.

‘I could have pressed really hard but it was fun. His whole goal was to survive and that was a win for him. If he’s happy, so be it. In the history books I will always be the greatest.”

‘Will I make a comeback? Absolutely not. I have retired from the sport of boxing. I probably won’t do an exhibition again either.

‘If he would have fought more, it wouldn’t have lasted eight rounds. I am just blessed to build a legacy and build a fortune from it. I have made some smart investments and everything is paid for. We did what we had to do tonight.

Paul walked away with a reported $26milliom (£14m) paycheque. Mayweather’s is said to be worth in the region of $100m (£70) when all the pay-per-view numbers are accounted for, according to Mail Online.

Seid Visin, Former AC Milan Player, commits suicide after suffering years of constant racist abuse

Former AC Milan youth player, Seid Visin, has committed suicide after suffering years of racist abuse.

Visin, who played for the youth academies of both Milan and Benevento, was recently found dead at his home in Campania, Italy at the age of 20.

Visin was born in Ethiopia and later moved to Italy as a child. He was adopted by parents Walter and Maddalena in Nocera Inferiore, where he went on to pursue his dream of being a footballer.

However, in 2016, Visin decided to retire from football and focus on his studies. He only kept playing five-a-side football with Atletico Vitalica.

Atletico Vitalica announced his tragic death, with reports in Italy suggesting he took his own life at his family home in Nocera after suffering constant racist abuse over the years.

According to Corriere, a heartbreaking letter Visin wrote was read at his funeral on Saturday, June 5.

It read: “Now, wherever I go, wherever I am, wherever I am I feel on my shoulders, like a boulder, the weight of people’s skeptical, prejudiced, disgusted and frightened looks.”

Former AC Milan youth star, Seid Visin, 20, kills himself after suffering years of constant racist abuse

Visin also explained that he felt the racism he was suffering was a result of the increase of migrants moving to Italy. He recounted a story when an elderly white woman refused to be served by him while he was working as a waiter.

Visin said that he felt like he had to “prove to people, that they didn’t know me, that I was like them, that I was Italian, that I was white”.

He added that it was as if he was “ashamed of being black, as if I was afraid of being mistaken for an immigrant”.

Reports in Italy claim Visin first wrote the letter, which was sent to some of his friends and his psychotherapist, back in January 2019.

G7 nations agrees to increase tax for Big Tech Companies like Twitter, Google, Amazon, Facebook, etc

Tech giants and multinational companies such as Amazon, Google, Facebook will no longer be able to shift profits to low-tax offshore havens, after G7 Nations led by the US and UK agreed on a deal on taxation.

The landmark deal agreed on Saturday, June 5, will enable them to squeeze more money out of the corporate giants.

Hundreds of billions of dollars could flow into the governments of the Group of Seven (G7)  from this new deal after they agreed to back a minimum global corporate tax rate of at least 15%.

Facebook in a statement said it expected it would have to pay more tax, in more countries, as a result of the deal.

“G7 finance ministers have reached a historic agreement to reform the global tax system to make it fit for the global digital age,” British finance minister Rishi Sunak said after chairing a two-day meeting in London.

The meeting, hosted in central London, was the first time finance ministers have met face-to-face since the start of the pandemic.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said the “significant, unprecedented commitment” would end what she called a race to the bottom on global taxation.

German finance minister Olaf Scholz said the deal was “bad news for tax havens around the world”.

According to Yellen, the G7 meeting was a return to multilateralism under Biden and a contrast to the approach of U.S. President Donald Trump, who alienated many U.S. allies.

“What I’ve seen during my time at this G7 is deep collaboration and a desire to coordinate and address a much broader range of global problems,” she said.

A ‘Yahoo Yahoo Boy’ arrested in U.S for stealing $800,000 in payroll hacking

A Nigerian identified as Charles Onus has been arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for his alleged involvement in diverting $800,000 into prepaid debit cards, barely a month after Abidemi Rufai, an aide to Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state was arrested for fraud in the United States.

The United State Department of Justice in a statement shared on its website, said Mr Onus was arrested and detained on April 14 in San Francisco.

The suspect who is accused of hacking over 5,500 company user accounts, was arraigned before the Manhattan federal court on Wednesday June 2.

He is said to have allegedly participated in the scheme between July 2017 through about 2018, obtaining over 5,500 company user accounts through a cyber-intrusion technique referred to as “credential stuffing.”

The statement read;

“As alleged, Onus did this as effectively as someone who commits bank burglary, but with no need for a blowtorch or bolt-cutters. Thanks to the FBI and IRS-CI, Onus is in custody and facing serious federal charges.

“During a credential stuffing attack, a cyber threat actor collects stolen credentials, or username and password pairs, obtained from other large-scale data breaches of other companies.  The threat actor then systematically attempts to use those stolen credentials to obtain unauthorized access to accounts held by the same user with other companies and providers, to compromise accounts where the user has maintained the same password.

“After Onus successfully gained unauthorised access to a company user account, he changed the bank account information designated by the user of the account so that Onus would receive the user’s payroll to a prepaid debit card that was under Onus’ control.

“From at least in or about July 2017 through at least in or about 2018, at least approximately 5,500 company user accounts were compromised and more than approximately $800,000 in payroll funds were fraudulently diverted to prepaid debit cards, including those under the control of Onus.”

Another Nigerian arrested in U.S for allegedly stealing $800,000 in payroll hacking

The 34-year-old Nigerian national has now been charged with “one count of computer fraud for causing damage to a protected computer” which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

The statement added;

“One count of computer fraud for unauthorised access to a protected computer to further intended fraud, and one count of receipt of stolen money, each of which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison; one count of wire fraud, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison; and one count of aggravated identity theft, which carries a mandatory sentence of two years in prison to be served consecutively to any other sentence imposed.”

Superstar footballer, Lionel Messi has agreed to stay at Barcelona for two more years before joining David Beckham’s Inter Miami side in the US.

His future at the Catalan giants had been in doubt after his deal with the club expired last month’s end.

However, according to reports, a new deal is close, and will see him spend another two seasons at Barcelona before moving to America to star for Beckham’s club.

It is reported Messi will spend two seasons in Miami, before returning to Spain and becoming a strategic partner at Barcelona with an off-field role as part of the ten-year deal, such as a global ambassador.

The 33-year-old will take a significant pay cut in the new contract, but the wide-ranging nature of the deal appears enough to have convinced him to once again commit his future to Barcelona.

Messi hinted at quitting the club earlier this year when he revealed his wish to play elsewhere while still keeping his links to the club he made his debut for in 2003.

‘My plan is to give all I can for the club at the moment,’ Messi told Spanish TV station La Sexta.

‘I would like to play in the United States and experience life and the league there, but ultimately come back to Barcelona in some capacity.

‘I’m not thinking too far ahead in the short-term and just want to see how the season finishes.’

Roman Pratasevich, Political activist, appears on State TV tearfully praising Belarus President (video)

Belarusian dissident journalist and political activist, Roman Protasevich, who was arrested in Minsk, Belarus after being taken off a hijacked RyanAir flight last month, has appeared in a tearful interview on state television, praising Belarus dictator Alexander Lukashenko and denouncing his fellow political activists.

Mass protests erupted across Belarus in 2020 after long-time leader Alexander Lukashenko claimed victory in a 9 August presidential election widely condemned as rigged, and a crackdown followed.

The protests have been curbed and opposition leaders have been sent to prison or in exile.

Pratasevich, 26, was editor of the opposition Nexta channel on the Telegram messaging app until last year and had been living in exile in Lithuania .

The government put him on a list of “individuals involved in terrorist activity” last year.

And then last month after hijacking a commercial flight enroute Lithuania, Belarus government arrested him.

In a Thursday night interview, June 3, Pratasevich tearfully confessed to organising anti-government protests and praised President Alexander Lukashenko. The 26-year-old told Belarusian state TV channel ONT on Thursday that he has “pleaded guilty” to organizing large-scale “unsanctioned protests” following the country’s disputed elections last August.   “I openly admit that I was one of the people who published calls to take to the streets on (August) ninth. As soon as I was presented with the documents and charged, I pleaded guilty immediately, under article 342 of the (Belarusian) Criminal Code, that’s the organization of large-scale unsanctioned protests,” Protasevich said during an interview on the show “Nothing Personal.”

Protasevich admitted to attempting to topple Alexander Lukashenko and said that he was speaking to the television channel by choice.

He said that he had criticised President Lukashenko a lot but “began to understand that he was doing the right thing and I certainly respect him”.   Protasevich also breaks down before the camera, crying as he says he never wants to get involved in politics again.   “I have rethought a lot of things for myself. I never want to get involved in politics anymore, in any dirty games and showdowns again. I want to hope that I can correct everything and live an ordinary peaceful life, to have a family, children, stop running away from something,” he said.

At the end of the interview, he burst into tears and said he hoped one day to marry and have children.

Protasevich’s family say the interview was conducted under duress, his father speaking to AFP news agency said that it pained him to watch the interview.

“I know my son very well and I believe that he would never say such things. They broke him and forced him to say what was needed,” he said.

Thursday’s interview was Mr Protasevich’s third appearance on state television since he was detained.

In one interview, he said there was no use in the opposition calling for further street protests.

Political activist Roman Pratasevich who was arrested after Ryanair plane was hijacked by Belarus military jet, appears on State TV tearfully praising Belarus president Lukashenko (video)

Protasevich faces serious charges. In Belarus, the charge of causing mass unrest can be punished by up to 15 years in jail but terror offences carry higher sentences and as he was taken off the plane, passengers quoted him saying “I’ll get the death penalty here”.

Barcelona president, Joan Laporta has confirmed that Ronald Koeman will stay as Barcelona boss for the 2021-22 campaign with the Dutchman offered a lifeline following a poor debut season.

Koeman took over from Quique Setien last summer following their embarrassing 8-2 defeat by Bayern Munich in the Champions League, and was tasked with winning LaLiga and the Champions League.

Shocking! Artist Sells Imaginary Sculpture That Doesn’t Exist For A Staggering £13,000

According to Daily Star UK, many critics of contemporary art have described conceptual works as “the emperor’s new clothes,” saying that it’s all hype and no substance.

Italian artist Salvatore Garau has challenged that criticism by creating a “sculpture” that doesn’t exist at all — and selling it for just under £13,000.

The work, entitled ‘I am’, comes with some strict rules about how it’s to be stored and displayed.

The buyer of the completely non-existent artwork must keep it in a private house within a five-foot square space that’s free from any obstructions.

The buyer will also need to find somewhere to store their certificate of authenticity, which is the only tangible proof that Garau’s work exists.

The €15,000 ‘“immaterial sculpture” very real to the artist though.

He explains: “The successful outcome of the auction testifies to an irrefutable fact – he void is nothing but a space full of energy, and even if we empty it and nothing remains, according to Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle that nothingness has a weight.

“It therefore has energy,” he adds, “that condenses and transforms itself into particles, in short, in us!

“When I decide to ‘exhibit’ an immaterial sculpture in a given space, that space will concentrate a certain quantity and density of thoughts in a precise point, creating a sculpture that from my title alone will take the most varied forms.

“After all,” asks Garau, “don’t we give shape to a God we have never seen?”

The Sardinian-born artist isn’t exactly new to the world of conceptual art.

For his 2006 piece Ichthys Sacro Stagno, the artist created large ponds on the floors of three churches in the province of Sardinian Oristano, which he then populated with fish from lakes elsewhere in the area.

A year before, he created a 650-foot tarpaulin which he used to cover the scaffolding around a church in Milan.

Italian auction house Art-Rite has declined to reveal the name of the immaterial sculpture’s buyer, and presumably even if you went to their house you will only know they had it if they told you.

Twitter describes the decision of the Nigerian Govt. to suspend its operations as “deeply concerning”

Micro-blogging site, Twitter, has described the decision of the Federal government to suspend its operations in Nigeria as “deeply concerning”.

Twitter’s Senior Policy Communications Manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa, Sarah Hart, stated this in an email response sent to The Cable. The mail reads

“The announcement made by the Nigerian Government that they have suspended Twitter’s operations in Nigeria is deeply concerning.

“We’re investigating and will provide updates when we know more,” Hart was quoted as saying.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, in a statement released on Friday afternoon, June 4, announced the suspension of the platform in Nigeria. He cited the “persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence” as a reason for the suspension.

It is however not clear when the ban will be enforced.

Facebook deletes Buhari’s controversial FB Post the after Twitter Saga

Facebook has joined Twitter in banning President Buhari’s controversial civil war statement.

Earlier today, June 4, the Federal Government announced that Twitter has been suspended in Nigeria. This comes days after Twitter deleted the president’s controversial statement and the video where he made the statement.

The banned statement made by Buhari reads: “Many of those misbehaving today are too young to be aware of the destruction and loss of lives that occurred during the Nigerian Civil War. Those of us in the fields for 30 months, who went through the war, will treat them in the language they understand.”

Now, Facebook has followed suit. Facebook said it deleted Buhari’s statement because it violates its standards and is capable of inciting violence.

Unlike Twitter where the specific tweet was deleted while the rest of the thread with President Buhari’s speech was allowed to remain on the platform, Facebook removed President Buhari’s entire message.

Giving reason for deleting the statement, Facebook said: “In line with our global policies, we have removed a post from President Buhari’s Facebook page for violating our community standards against inciting violence.

“We remove any content from individual or organisation that violates our policies on facebook.”

The letter also explains that Mbaka still leads the chaplaincy but the bishop (Onaga) can appoint any ministerial officer “to assist the chaplains to oversee the pastoral activities of the ministry.”

Trump banned from Facebook Space for atleast two years

Former US president, Donald Trump has been banned from Facebook for at least two years.

The Republican politician was indefinitely suspended from all Facebook platforms over the 6 January US Capitol riot, in which his supporters violently tried to prevent the certification of Joe Biden’s election win.

Now Mr. Trump’s account will remain suspended until 7 January 2023, and Mark Zuckerberg’s company says he will only get it back if the “risk to public safety has receded.”

Facebook’s independent Oversight Board upheld the initial suspension of Mr. Trump last month, but they criticized the company over the indefinite time period, which led Mr. Zuckerberg to introduce the new rules.

“Given the gravity of the circumstances that led to Mr. Trump’s suspension, we believe his actions constituted a severe violation of our rules which merit the highest penalty available under the new enforcement protocols. We are suspending his accounts for two years, effective from the date of the initial suspension on 7 January this year,” said Nick Clegg, Facebook’s VP of Global Affairs, on Friday.

“At the end of this period, we will look to experts to assess whether the risk to public safety has receded.

“We will evaluate external factors, including instances of violence, restrictions on peaceful assembly and other markers of civil unrest.

“If we determine that there is still a serious risk to public safety, we will extend the restriction for a set period of time and continue to re-evaluate until that risk has receded.”

Facebook also announced that if Mr. Trump is ever cleared to use Facebook products again he will face “a strict set of rapidly escalating sanctions” that would be applied if he broke user rules.

Mr. Clegg also added that these would include the permanent removal of Mr. Trump’s pages and accounts.

“In establishing the two-year sanction for severe violations, we considered the need for it to be long enough to allow a safe period of time after the acts of incitement, to be significant enough to be a deterrent to Mr. Trump and others from committing such severe violations in future, and to be proportionate to the gravity of the violation itself,” he added.

Adamu Garba Accuses Twitter of supporting IPOB

Former presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba has alleged that Twitter is an “online machine” of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and that the social media platform supports the secessionist group more than it supports the Federal government.

Adamu said this while reacting to the decision of the Federal government to suspend the operation of Twitter in Nigeria.

In an interview with Channels TV on Friday evening, June 4, Garba, who in October 2020 sued the social media platform for ”supporting” the #ENDSARS protest, said the Federal government’s decision is a welcomed development.

“Yes, I’m happy. Seriously. It is clearly showing that actions cannot just happen without consequences.

Twitter, if you studied their move for the last two years, they have been more of an anti-Nigerian force, for the destruction of Nigeria than actually a platform that’s supposed to advocate for freedom of expression of Nigeria.

“Because if you look at what happened with the removal of some of the tweets of the president, I can’t see very strong or vile word than that of Nnamdi Kanu that was left to still be available on Twitter.

“We have a very serious crisis in the south-east, where these guys are destroying fundamental institutions of Nigerian democracy, INEC offices, police institutions and courts.

“They are killing people on the streets, destroying people’s properties, and then Twitter is behind them.

“I think Twitter is like a kind of IPOB online machine because what they do more is to support IPOB much more than the government. IPOB, everyone knows, they are anti-Nigeria. Their target is to destroy Nigeria.”

Man Cries Profusely After Finding Out His Wife Has Been Sleeping With Their Family Doctor For 10 Years

A Nigerian man has been left devastated after finding out his wife of 10 years has been sleeping with Doctor in a hospital where she always goes to for antenatal.

According to the man whenever his wife is pregnant, she insists on a particular hospital and Doctor, not knowing she has been sleeping with him all the while. They have two kids and she is currently pregnant with their third child. He has sent her packing and has subjected his 2 children to DNA test and is awaiting result.

For him, the only regrets he has is that he has invested so much in the family; has been spending on his mother-in-law’s health, bought a new car for his brother-in-law which he uses as a cab and sent his wife to University of Calabar after marrying her.

“Goodevening Steve.

I want to really thank you for the great effort you are putting to make things work in this group. May God bless you.I am a bonafide member of this group for years now, but right now, am not a happy man.I got married to the mother of my three kids in 2010. Believe me when I say am not a wayward husband. my family is life and I wasn’t going to let anything come between us.Now, on the other hand, I practically used my hard earned money to send my wife to the university of CALABAR because that is where we are residing now. The mistake I ever made was to trust her. Sir, if you see my wife, you will never believe she talks. She appear so calm and reserve, but I didn’t know she was just a big serpent. I gave my wife the best that life can offer. What I don’t give her is what she doesn’t ask.Like I said, am not a wayward husband. Ever since we got married, I have taken her to Dubai for shopping twice.Am not trying to blow my own trumpet, but am just trying to say that I have been keeping to my own end as a responsible man. When she took in with our first baby which am now doubting if am really the his father, she was the one that chose the hospital she wanted to register for her antenatal. My own was just to provide the money. Now up till this moment, it is baffles me how my wife is having sex with a doctor in that hospital and I didn’t know of it.

Honestly, if not that she is pregnant now, maybe I would have bitten her to death two weeks ago after I found out that the reason she is always running to the doctor is because of their evil deeds. The reason I sent you these pictures of them together, is for you to know that I did my investigations well. How can a man who calls himself a doctor be sleeping with a pregnant woman? I have never denied this whore of a wife my body. Even when I return tired from work, I still perform my duty. Anyway, I don’t want any problem that is why I threw her and the bastard she is Carrying out of my house same last week. Right now, my parents and siblings have already been notified. As for the two kids at home, I will run a DNA test on them, if they are truly my children, I will keep them, but If they are not, I Will call their mother’s people to come and take them away from my house. This woman has plugged a dagger through my heart.I have seen it all when it comes to woman. Am not seeking for any advice, because no amount of tears, plead, can make me change my decision.Let the devil who pushed her into it like she said, keep her for himself. The only regret am having now, is that I have really spent so much money in her family.

I personally brought his brother to CALABAR, bought him a car that he is using today as a Cab. Not mentioning the monies I have spent in her mother’s health. I don’t know why life should be so unfair to me. Am not a happy man now, but I know I will be fine to the glory of GOD. As for the idiot of a doctor who is sleeping with her, he will know am not a man hw can step on this toes and go free. For now, l just want to be healed before I know my next line of action. Please you can feel free to post this writeup together with the pictures I sent you if you so wish, I dont care.”

‘China should pay the world for death and destruction Coronavirus caused’ – Trump fumes

Trump signs executive orders banning TikTok and WeChat from operating in US in 45 days

Former US President, Donald Trump is demanding that China pays ten trillion dollars for its role in the coronavirus pandemic as he added to growing calls for US health expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci to explain exactly how much he knew about work being done at the Wuhan Institute of virology, China.

Donald Trump publicly feuded with Dr. Anthony Fauci throughout 2020 and is now claiming victory amid growing questions over how much his then adviser, Fauci knew about work being done at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. The Chinese laboratory is at the center of conspiracy theories that the novel coronavirus came out from a scientific facility rather than jumped the species barrier naturally.

Coronavirus:

Fauci’s role in the early days of the crisis is under fresh scrutiny after two news organizations obtained his emails under a Freedom of Information request.

In particular, Republicans claim the communications show Fauci knew the Wuhan Institute of Virology – at the center of  the lab leak hypothesis for the origins of the COVID-19 crisis – was carrying out experiments with genetically engineered coronaviruses.

They also show he was warned of the possibility of a lab leak at a time when he was publicly insisting the pandemic emerged naturally by jumping from an animal host to human.

In a statement on Thursday, June 3, Trump derided Fauci by claiming he (Trump) saved hundreds of thousands of lives by resisting Fauci’s guidance on everything from closing borders, developing vaccines and wearing masks.

‘Now everyone, even the so-called “enemy,” are beginning to say that President Trump was right about the China Virus coming from the Wuhan Lab,’ Trump said.

‘The correspondence between Dr. Fauci and China speaks too loudly for anyone to ignore.

‘China should pay ten trillion Dollars to America, and the world, for the death and destruction they have caused.’

Trump demanded to find out how much Fauci really knew about the Wuhan lab.

‘There are a lot of questions that must be answered by Dr. Fauci,’ he said.

‘The funding of Wuhan by the U.S. was foolishly started by the Obama administration in 2014 but ended under the Trump administration.

‘When I heard about it, I said “no way.”

‘What did Dr. Fauci know about “gain of function” research, and when did he know it?’

Fauci says his emails obtained by Buzzfeed News and the Washington Post have been taken out of context.

‘I have always said, and will say today to you … that I still believe the most likely origin is from an animal species to a human, but I keep an absolutely open mind that if there may be other origins of that, there may be another reason, it could have been a lab leak,’ he told CNN

The bereaved family of an Indian woman who had been declared dead after contracting Covid-19 were shocked when she returned home two weeks after her funeral.

Muktyala Girijamma, 60, had reportedly “died of coronavirus” in May. Her nephew, Nagu, told reporters that when they tried to visit her at Vijayawada Government General Hospital on May 15, they were told that she had died and had to be cremated.

Due to Covid guidelines, the family could only view the body from a distance and it remained tightly wrapped in plastic right up until the point of cremation.

Nagu said: “The duty doctor on that day failed to inform my uncle that she was shifted to another ward and told him that she succumbed to Covid.

“Believing it, we went to the mortuary to find her body where we were given the body of another woman. Since we could not verify the body before taking it as it was packed, we took the body home and performed the last rites.”

The grieving family were given the body for cremation. But Nagu now says, “we do not know whom we have cremated”.

Muktyala returned to the village of Christianpet in Jaggaiahpet Mandal of Krishna district on Wednesday, June 2, just before the family members were to perform the Shraddha ceremony – a final send-off for a departed relative.

The security operatives also arrested 10 persons attending the meeting which is alleged to be part of a plan to allegedly unleash mayhem on some parts of Bayelsa State.

A book titled “The Chain of One Nigeria Broken (The story of our journey to Freedom)” was also recovered from the suspects during the raid on the meeting by security operatives on Tuesday afternoon June 1.

Politicians demands Gov Uzodinma’s resignation follwing rise in Insecurity

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State has called for the resignation of the governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, over the state of insecurity in the state.

Speaking at a press conference in Owerri, the state capital, on Thursday, June 3, the PDP chairman in the state, Charles Ugwu, said that the crisis in the state has shown that the governor had no answer to the spate of killings in the state.

Ugwu said that the All Progressives Congress-led government lacked the capacity to guarantee the safety and security of lives and properties of the people of the state.

“Governor Hope Uzodimma in his capacity and responsibility as the Chief Security Officer of the state has failed to protect the lives and property of Imo State. This has become necessary in view of the evident lack of capacity of the All Progressives Congress in Imo State to guarantee the safety of the people of the state,” he said.

The PDP chairman said that the opposition party was alarmed at the continued escalation of the militarisation of the state and mass arrest and alleged killing of the youths of the state.

“Our party finds it too worrisome that innocent civilians are mowed down daily, security personnel are wantonly killed, arson, murder, and carnage have become the lot of the hitherto most peaceful state in Nigeria. The climax is the gruesome murder of Hon Ahmed Gulak, the former aide to the then president, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, and a former member of the PDP.

The PDP, Imo State, wishes to use this medium to solemnly extend our heartfelt condolences to all those who have fallen to the senseless and avoidable carnage going on in the state.”Ugwu said

Ugwu called for a holistic investigation into the killing of a former presidential aide, Mr. Ahmed Gulak, in the state, on Sunday morning, May 30.

British Mum dies from blood clots after taking her AstraZeneca Covid Vaccine

A British mother-of-three died after suffering blood clots following the AstraZeneca Covid jab.

Tanya Smith, 43, from Mutley in Plymouth was reportedly rushed to hospital after waking up with stomach cramps days after receiving the Covid-19.

Her partner said she had felt “pretty rough” after having the vaccination in March.

After being admitted to Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital it was found she had multiple blood clots.

Tanya suffered a heart attack and then deteriorated before dying in hospital on April 3.

Her partner, Kenneth Edwards, said: “She was just amazing, selfless, She was a childminder, a really good childminder for 19 years.

“She leaves three children behind, two grown up children and a 12 year old little girl with disabilities. She was the only woman, apart from my mum, who really looked after me.

“She loved her family, she was really family orientated and she’d go above and beyond. We’re all pretty lost without her. I’ve never experienced anything like this.”

Kenneth also said Tanya was “healthy and young-ish” before the jab and had her first dose at Plymouth’s Home Park football ground in March, after being contacted by her GP.

An inquest will be held into her death later and part of that inquiry will look at an investigation being carried out by University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust which runs Derriford Hospital where she died.

Tanya was invited to have a jab early as she was a key worker and a carer for her young daughter who had disabilities.

Kenneth said by Good Friday – just over a week after the Covid jab – Tanya was “gravely poorly” in hospital and died a day later. He added that she had no underlying health problems apart from an abnormal health rhythm and a “bit of” irritable bowel syndrome.

NHS England declined to comment but the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), said: “We are saddened to hear of the death of Tanya Smith and our thoughts are with the family.

“As with any serious suspected adverse reaction, reports with a fatal outcome are fully evaluated by the MHRA, including an assessment of post mortem details of available.

“Our detailed and rigorous review into reports of blood clots occurring together with thrombocytopenia is ongoing.”

Experts have stressed cases of blood clots linked to the vaccine are extremely rare.

The latest MHRA data reveals 332 cases of these very rare blood clots reported, and 58 deaths.

People under 40 in the UK are being offered an alternative to the AstraZeneca vaccine following reports of extremely rare blood clots on the brain.

Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s Prime Minister, maybe removed from Office in the next one week

Benjamin Netanyahu

Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu’s opponents have announced they have reached a deal to form a new governing coalition, paving the way for the removal of Netanyahu, who has been Israel’s longest serving leader.

Opposition leader Yair Lapid and his main coalition partner, Naftali Bennett, announced they had reached an announcement shortly before a Wednesday, June 2 midnight deadline and prevented what could have been Israel’s fifth consecutive election in just over two years.

Israel

“This government will work for all the citizens of Israel, those that voted for it and those that didn’t. It will do everything to unite Israeli society,” Lapid said.

The agreement still needs to be approved by the Knesset (Israel’s parliament) in a vote that is expected to take place early next week.

If it goes through, Lapid and his coalition partner will end Netanyahu’s record-setting12-year rule.

Netanyahu, desperate to remain in office while he fights corruption charges, is expected to do everything possible in the coming days to prevent the new coalition from taking power.

The deal comes at a political time for Israel, which fought an 11-day war against Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip last month while also experiencing mob violence between Jews and Arabs in cities across Israel.

Under the coalition agreement, Lapid and Bennett will split the job of prime minister i.e rotate the prime minister roles between two consecutive terms.

Bennett, a former ally of Netanyahu, is to serve the first two years, while Lapid is to serve the final two years.

The historic deal also includes a small Islamist party, the United Arab List, which would make it the first Arab party ever to be part of a governing coalition.

“This is the first time an Arab party is a partner in the formation of a government,” said the party’s leader, Mansour Abbas. “This agreement has a lot of things for the benefit of Arab society, and Israeli society in general.”

Among the concessions secured by Abbas were agreements for legal recognition of Bedouin villages in southern Israel, an economic plan for investing 30 billion shekels ($9.2 billion) in Arab towns and cities, and a five-year plan for combating violent crime in Arab communities, according to Army Radio.

Netanyahu in a show of power, is attempting to put pressure on hard-liners in the emerging coalition to defect and join his religious and nationalist party.

Knesset Speaker Yariv Levin, a member of Netanyahu’s Likud party, may also use his influence to delay the required parliamentary vote.

Netanyahu has been top of Israeli politics over the past three decades, first serving as prime minister since 2009 in addition to an earlier term in the late 1990s.

His major achievements include last year’s groundbreaking diplomatic agreements with four Arab countries and the defence of Israel from Hamas and Iran.

Back in February, Lil Uzi Vert made headlines when he implanted the gem in the middle of his forehead, boasting about its magical powers. “I can’t believe I got this Stone either moving super different now,” he tweeted.

But the stone engraving came with its share of pain when he revealed the bloody injury he suffered as a result of trying to affix it to his skull.

“If I don’t get it took out the right way I could die,” said Uzi.

He purchased the diamond from jewelry designer Elliot Eliantte.

It was so expensive that it took four years to pay off. According to Uzi, it cost more than his home and all his cars combined including his Bugatti.

“I’ve been paying for a natural pink diamond from Elliot for years now,” he tweeted.

“This one Stone cost so much I’ve been paying for it since 2017. That was the first time I saw a real natural pink diamond. A lot of M’s in my face.”

The significance of name change cannot be overemphasised. Even God our father, in the Holy books, changed names of prophets e.g. Saul to Paul, Jacob to Israel, etc. The reason for name change is to physically and psychologically reflect a new beginning.

Thus, at this crossroads in our history, it is mandatory that we change our name to reflect a new beginning which will be ushered in with a new constitution. The word ‘Africa’ is a Greek word meaning ‘Without Cold’. Africa was originally called ‘Alkebulan’, meaning ‘Mother of Mankind’ (Garden of Eden).

Alkebulan is the oldest and the only word of indigenous origin used by Moors, Nubians and Ethiopians. So, if we like, we can go a step further and name our nation, United Alkebulan Republic (meaning ‘United Mother of Mankind Republic).

The new constitution should also give room for continuous review as and when due, and future referendum if required also want to suggest the following.

The constitution should provide for a council for each of these offices where six members from each geo-political zone will be represented to take collective unanimous decisions for the office, instead of one man holding all the powers of the office.

These council members will attain the position by seniority and numbers of years in service, and they will each need a department in the service as well as being council members.

Nigerians have now taken to social media to to express their opinions concerning the proposal. See some below;

Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Council petitions US and UK over President Buhari’s tweet on civil war

Nigeria's revenue has dropped to more than 60% - President Buhari

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council OYC has petitioned the International Criminal Court (ICC), the United Kingdom and United States of America USA over the tweet posted by President Buhari making reference to the civil war.

Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Council petitions UK and US over President Buhari

In a statement signed by the National President of OYC, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, the group alleged the President’s tweet was another subtle plan for an attack against Ndigbo. Nnabuike said the President via his tweet had” prepared the ground for another attack on Ndigbo by security forces.”

Nnabuike added that the President had pushed Ndigbo to the wall enough for them to react.

Part of the petition sent to the foreign government’s reads

“We write to alert the international community on another planned attack against Ndigbo.

This is sadly coming few days after Ndigbo held a memorial in honour of over 5 million lives wasted, including children, during the civil war.

We are more concerned that this is coming from the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces and President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

It is quite sad that while the same Buhari presidency is busy romancing with Boko Haram and other bandits in the North, it has in another stroke threatened massacre of Ndigbo simply for agitating to have their own country.

We are, therefore, alerting the United Nations, the United States of America, the International Criminal Court, ICC, UK, and other international organizations of this looming attack in Igboland, as Mr. President has given the security agencies license to wipe our people out as can be deduced from his recent statement.

Already, several innocent Igbo youths have been murdered by security forces under the watch of Buhari, under the guise of hunting ESN, yet his Government is still looking for more blood.

It is thus imperative that we send this SOS message to the international community as Buhari’s hatred for Ndigbo has now reached extreme level”

Derek Chauvin begs for a lighter sentence following conviction in George Floyd’s case

The attorney for former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin has filed a motion seeking a lesser sentence in the murder of George Floyd ahead of his June 25th sentencing hearing.

His attorney Eric Nelson, asked a Minnesota judge this week to give him a lighter prison sentence, either with a probation term or a much lighter sentence than state guidelines currently suggest, citing that he is a “victim of a broken system.”

Chauvin, 45, was convicted in April on counts of second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter in Floyd’s May 2020 death.

Judge Peter Cahill scheduled Chauvin’s sentencing hearing for June 25. He previously indicated that he will consider aggravating factors to potentially issue a sentence that is longer than the recommendations under state guidelines.

In a defense motion filed on Tuesday, attorney Eric Nelson requests “a strict probationary sentence, along with a period of incarceration equal to the time he has already served. In the alternative, Mr. Chauvin respectfully requests that the Court grant him a downward durational departure.”

In the motion, Nelson claims there are several “compelling circumstances” to warrant a sentence of probation, including Chauvin’s lack of a previous criminal record; a preliminary diagnosis of heart damage for Chauvin; and the average shorter life expectancy for police officers. Nelson also cites Chauvin’s “respectful” attitude in court and cooperation throughout the trial “in the face of unparalleled public scorn and scrutiny.”

Nelson’s motion also claims the aggravating factors for a greater sentence are “unwarranted.”

However, on May 12, Judge Peter Cahill issued a finding of fact decision listing four reasons that support a potential stronger penalty than the 12.5-year sentence that normally accompanies a second-degree murder conviction for someone with no criminal history:

  1. Defendant abused a position of trust and authority: Cahill described how Chauvin, in full uniform and on duty, restrained Floyd and caused his death by using unreasonable force while holding a position of trust and respect with the community.
  2. Defendant treated George Floyd with particular cruelty: Cahill noted how Chauvin prevented Floyd’s ability to breathe, even though he was begging for his life.
  3. Children were present during the commission of the offense: Cahill ruled that Chauvin caused Floyd’s death in front of four juveniles between the ages of 9 and 17, who saw him and other police officers restrain Floyd and cause him to die of asphyxiation while he begged for his life.
  4. Defendant committed the crime as a group with the active participation of at least three other persons: The judge noted that former officers Thomas Lane and J. Alexander Kueng were actively involved with Chauvin in restraining Floyd, and former officer Tou Thao actively kept bystanders from rendering aid. Cahill noted that the participation of the three other officers includes no finding of criminal liability on their part.

Prosecutors have also filed their own motion with the court requesting a 30-year sentence for Chauvin, more than double the recommended state guidelines.

In addition to the upcoming sentencing, Chauvin also faces federal charges in Floyd’s death, alongside the three other former MPD officers charged in the case. Tou Thao, J. Alexander Kueng, and Thomas Lane face separate criminal charges of aiding and abetting; however, their criminal trial was postponed until March 2022 to allow the federal case time to reach its completion.

Jefferson Lerma fined £40,000 and with 6-game ban for allegedly biting Sheffield Wednesday’s Josh Windass

Bournemouth midfielder, Jefferson Lerma has been banned for six matches after allegedly biting Sheffield Wednesday’s Josh Windass.

The Colombian footballer was accused of biting Windass in the 83rd minute of the Cherries’ 1-0 defeat by the Owls in November, but the 26-year-old strenuously denied the allegation.

The FA confirmed Lerma’s punishment for the alleged offence on Wednesday June 2, and also confirmed he had been fined £40,000. Bournemouth said they were ‘surprised and disappointed’ at the outcome.

Bournemouth star, Jefferson Lerma hit with 6-game ban for allegedly biting Sheffield Wednesday

                             Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Josh Windass.

A statement from the FA read: ‘Jefferson Lerma has been suspended for six matches and fined £40,000 following a breach of FA Rule E3 that occurred during an EFL Championship match against Sheffield Wednesday FC on 03/11/20.

‘The midfielder denied that his behaviour in or around the 83rd minute of the match constituted violent conduct.

‘An independent Regulatory Commission found the breach of FA Rule E3 proven after considering evidence during a hearing.’

But Bournemouth believe there is a lack of ‘clear and compelling’ evidence of the alleged incident.

In a statement, the club said: ‘Since the start of this unnecessarily long process, Jefferson has strenuously denied the charge and has been fully supported by the club in doing so. Both the club and player have fully cooperated with the FA throughout.

‘As stated in the commission’s written reasons, the video footage of the incident between the players was ‘not conclusive’. In addition, there was no photographic evidence of any bite mark and Mr Windass – who is described as an ‘unappealing witness’ who ‘gave every impression of simply not caring’ – did not seek or receive any medical attention or treatment.

‘Expert evidence was also presented to the commission suggesting that Jefferson was most unlikely to have intentionally bitten Mr Windass, but this appears to have been rejected without due consideration.

‘The club believes there was a lack of clear and compelling evidence in finding the charge against Jefferson proven, and the player is currently considering his options regarding an appeal.’

The bride, who has been identified as Surabhi, died of a heart attack during her wedding ceremony in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, India.

Following her sudden death in the presence of family and wedding guests, the families laid her body in the room next door as her groom worked on his backup plan.

According to eyewitnesses, groom, Manjesh Kumar was in the middle of exchanging vows with his fiancee, Surabhi, when she died in front of him.

However, Surabhi’s uncle Ajab Singh told news agency IANS that the families made the decision to have Kumar wed her younger sister, Nisha, instead, which he claims was a “tough call” for them.

He said: “One daughter lay dead in one room and the wedding of another daughter was being solemnised in the other room. We have never witnessed such mixed emotions.

“The grief over her death and the happiness of the wedding have yet to sink in.”

Surabhi’s brother, Saurabh, added that they did not know what to do in the situation at first.

He said: “Both the families sat together and someone suggested that my younger sister Nisha should be married to the groom. The families discussed the matter and both agreed.”

Deontay Wilder promises to “decapitate” Tyson Fury ahead of their trilogy fight

Deontay Wilder has vowed to “decapitate” Tyson Fury when they fight for the third time.

The Gypsy King was set to take on Anthony Joshua in their undisputed heavyweight title fight on August 14 in Saudi Arabia, before an arbitration case by Wilder ordered a trilogy between himself and Tyson Fury.

A judge ruled that Fury must go through with his contracted trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder by September 2021.

Recall Fury and Wilder signed a two-fight deal to meet again twice in 2020 after their first fight in 2018, which ended in a draw. The Brit defeated the American to take his WBC heavyweight title in February 2020 and Wilder then activated his clause to force a trilogy contest.

The trilogy fight has now been set for July 24.

Bronze Bomber’ said he is aiming to make no mistake this time around.

Speaking to 78 Sports TV, Wilder issued a chilling threat to Fury and warned he will “decapitate” him.

“Y’all don’t wanna miss this one. My mindset is just so different right now,” he said. “Even right now, I don’t even feel like I’m here.

“My mentality is – you’ve been contemplating about hurting a person so bad, to the point you wanna disfigure him so his mother wouldn’t even know who he was.

“When you’ve had your mind on that, like you wanna decapitate him in every f*****g way possible, it’s like that premeditated stuff.

“When I do see him, I’m gonna love to see what I feel and what I’m thinking, how my senses change when he’s in my environment. I’ve been contemplating, premeditating whooping this man.

“Now that we have a date, like training has been even more intense.

“Those other camps, although they were intense, we had no guidance, no ETA, we just knew we wanted to stay in shape… Now it means something now. It’s for certain now.

“There’s nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, you got to go through me. The hardest puncher in the heavyweight division, probably in history, and I’m going to continue to do that.”

Belgium’s Euro 2020 team refuses to take the Covid vaccine ahead of Euro 2020 match

A number of Belgium players have reportedly turned down the chance to receive a Covid-19 vaccination ahead of Euro 2020 over fears the side effects could wreck their hopes at the tournament.

The country’s government had given the green light for players to receive the jab, with the Belgian FA insisting it was a ‘very important’ move as they bid to win their first-ever trophy as a nation.

A handful of stars including Toby Alderweireld, Timothy Castagne, Thibaut Courtois, and Thomas Vermaelen are all said to have received their jabs.

But with the team seen as one of the favourites to win the competition, some of the players refused to take the Pfizer jab in case it hinders their performance, according to Belgian outlet HLN.

The side effects of the vaccine include tiredness, headaches, muscle pain, chills, joint pain, and fever – which can affect more than one in ten people.

Professor Dirk Ramaekers, who heads Belgium’s Task Force COVID-19 Vaccination Strategy, allayed fears about the refusals to be vaccinated.

He said a number of players had already received their jabs, while some would prefer to receive theirs after Euro 2020 has ended

‘A number of Red Devils had already been vaccinated abroad, a number of them have recently experienced Covid,’ he said.

‘The latter have antibodies and prefer to be vaccinated after the tournament. Of those who were not vaccinated, the vast majority had themselves vaccinated upon arrival in our country.

Ramaekers said the squad and coach Roberto Martinez were ‘very pro-vaccination’ and that only ‘one or two’ players do not wish to receive their jabs.

‘I look at it positively and notice that the players – with guys like Mertens, Lukaku and Hazard in the lead – just like the association and the coach are very pro-vaccination,’ he added.

‘Within the group, the majority is protected. The group protection is great because those boys will live in a highly isolated environment for the coming weeks. On the field, all participating teams will protect their players as much as possible with vaccination and testing.’

Belgium, who are ranked as the number one international team in world football are set to begin their Euro campaign against Russia in St Petersburg on June 12.

Barcelona signs Emerson Royal, Brazil defender, from Real Betis

Barcelona have made their third signing of the week with Brazil defender Emerson Royal joining from Real Betis after Argentina striker Sergio Aguero and Spain center-back Eric Garcia joined.

The 22-year-old right-back initially joined Barcelona from Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro in January 2019 in a three-way deal also involving Betis, which saw the full-back join the Andalusian club on loan.

Officially announcing the switch on Wednesday, a Barca statement read: “FC Barcelona have informed Real Betis Balompie that they are exercising their right to bring back Emerson Royal from July 1 after two seasons on loan at the Andalusian club.

“Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil on 14 January 1999, Emerson Aparecido Leite de Souza Junior, better known as Emerson Royal, is an attacking right-back who will be involved in the upcoming Copa America with the Brazilian national team.

“The defender will bring pace and an attacking dimension to the right wing as the Brazilian has scored five goals and created 10 assists with Betis, the club at which he has played since a three-way agreement was reached involving Atletico Mineiro in January 2019.”
