Ilir Meta, Albanian President impeached for violating constitution

Albanian President,  Ilir Meta has been impeached by the country’s parliament for violating the constitution.

The parliament voted 104-7 to discharge the president on Wednesday, June 9, while three abstained. The final approval lies with Albania’s Constitutional Court within three months.

A report following a parliamentary investigation concluded that Meta had violated the constitution with his biased approach against the ruling Socialists during the April 25 parliamentary electoral campaign. The report said Meta violated 16 articles and also incited violence.

“Ilir Meta has betrayed the mission of the president of … Albania,” Prime Minister Edi Rama said in his speech before the vote. “Ilir Meta has humiliated the constitution.”

Meta has denounced the investigation and impeachment attempt, arguing they are illegal.

His spokesman, Tedi Blushi, described the decision as “unconstitutional and ridiculous,” by what he referred to as “the parliamentary rubbish dump.”

Blushi wrote on his Facebook page that Meta “is motivated more than ever to protect Albania’s sovereignty and integrity.”

Mr Meta was accused of inciting violence and going against provisions of the country’s constitution.

Over 1,833 girls between the ages of 10-19 impregnated within 3 months in one Uganda district

Tororo district in Uganda has reported a sudden rise in teenage pregnancy in a period of three months hence threatening to cut short- the pursuit for education amongst girls of school going age, Daily Monitor UG reported on Tuesday June 8.

The information was contained in data presented by the district bio-statician, Mr Ali Mugerwa, during a district stakeholder’s dialogue held June 4 by National Association of Women Organisation of Uganda.

According to the data, 1,833 girls aged between 10-19 years were reported pregnant within a period of 90 days.

“The highlighted cases of teenage pregnancy are much less than the actual number because these are just those who managed to go for antenatal services yet a big number fear to go for antenatal services thinking that they will be laughed at.’’ Mugerwa said.

He noted that the data, involving cases of defilement by close family members- was extracted from the district health management information system sourced from public health facilities.

“All the people who impregnated these innocent children need to be arraigned before court but it’s becoming a challenge as some of the parents connive with the suspects,” he said.

He blamed both parents and the ineffective justice system for the prevailing crisis adding that if parents were playing their roles well these would not have happened.

Ms Pauline Nabwire, the program’s officer at National Association of Women Organization of Uganda attributes the surge to poor parenting coupled with greed for dowry, poverty, peer pressure and values reinforced by tradition.

“Most of the communities here are poor with majority of them not in position to have a meal in a day and as a result parents end up forcing their daughters to marry so that they are given bride price” she says.

Oh! Silas Wamangitukais has been playing under false name and age, club confirms

VfB Stuttgart player,  Silas Wamangituka, who was recently voted Bundesliga’s Rookie of the Season, has been playing under a false name and age this season, his club have announced.

It was revealed today that the Congolese forward is actually named Silas Katompa Mvumpa and is 22 years old and not 21, as was previously understood.

Stuttgart claimed that Silas was put under pressure by an agent-based in Paris to change his name in order to claim a European visa and earn a move to RSC Anderlecht.

The forward did not end up playing for the Belgian side but spent two seasons at French side Paris FC under the false name, before securing a move to Stuttgart at the start of the 2019-20 season and has impressed in Germany.

In a statement to Stuttgart’s official website, Silas said: ‘Over the past few years, I was constantly living in fear and was also very worried for my family in Congo.

‘It was a tough step for me to take to make my story public and I would never have had the courage to do so if Stuttgart, my team and VfB had not become like a second home and a safe place to me.’

Stuttgart claimed to have been recently informed of this information and have vowed to ensure that the situation is ‘handled correctly from hereon in’.  The Bundesliga club does not expect any sanctions.

A club statement said: ‘Silas was under the influence of the agent who syphoned off part of his wages and threatened him that he would never play football again if the matter ever became public.

‘Once he had built up a relationship of trust in Stuttgart and gradually been able to distance himself from his agent, Silas battled his considerable fears of that man and made his situation known to the club, and decided to change agents.

‘Thanks to his considerable efforts to clear up the situation, Silas now has a valid Congolese passport with his correct personal details.’

Stuttgart sporting director Sven Mislintat, who held a simliar role at Arsenal under Arsene Wenger and Unai Emery’s reigns, added: ‘First and foremost, Silas has been the victim of this change of name.

‘I have the greatest respect for the fact that at a young age, he has taken the brave step to clarify his situation. We will continue to give him all the help he needs in absolutely every respect.’

Romelu Lukaku laments on the rise of ‘Racism’ in football

Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku believes racism in football is at an “all-time high” ahead of the start of the European Championships.

The 28-year-old who is preparing for Belgium’s opening game of the Euros against Russia on Saturday has received racial abuse a number of times, notably when he was the subject of monkey chants from fans in 2019.

Lukaku believes abuse towards players is currently getting worse

“I think racism in football right now is at the all-time high. Why? Because of social media now as well,” Lukaku told CNN Sport.

“I understand why people like Thierry Henry are blocking social media because it’s easy, you can track somebody down … The social media companies, they have to do more for me.”

Earlier this year, former Arsenal forward Henry deleted his social media accounts following a spate of online racist abuse aimed at Black footballers.

He slammed social media companies for their inability to hold users accountable for their actions.

“For me, to be honest, I don’t really see progress. I see a lot of campaigns and all that stuff, but really until there is no real action taken,” Lukaku added.

“In Italy, when it happened to me directly, there was something that was done because the Serie A really communicated with me and my team.

“And we basically tried to educate people in Italy that it is not good, because in Italy, it is a beautiful country and I’ve been accepted really well by everybody, home fans, away fans.

“I think when that happened, it changed. That’s what all the leagues should do. They should talk to the players and basically try to start doing things with the players and with their teams.”

US Actor, Armie Hammer goes to rehab for sex, drugs and alcohol issues

Armie Hammer has reportedly checked into a rehab facility following allegations of sexual assault.

The Call Me By Your Name actor is reportedly seeking help at a treatment centre near Orlando, Florida.

According to Vanity Fair, three sources have confirmed that Hammer checked into the in-patient facility in May for “drug, alcohol, and sex issues”.

An eyewitness took to social media recently to report that they’d spotted the actor walking into rehab with his estranged wife, Elizabeth Chambers, who he split from in July 2020, and their two children.

The person wrote: “Elizabeth and kids drop him off and walk in as far as allowed. A lot of hugs and seemed emotional.”

Actor, Armie Hammer checks into rehab for ?drug, alcohol and sex issues? after denying sexual assault claims

One friend of Hammer told Vanity Fair: “Everyone looks at Armie thinking that he’s had some sort of privileged life—and that must mean there were no problems in his youth and everything was peachy keen.

“But that’s not necessarily the way things go. Just because you come from an upbringing where financial resources are plentiful doesn’t mean life isn’t without problem.

“This is a clear sign that he is taking back control [of] his life and knows that this [is] a step towards his overall well being.”

Hammer was born into a wealthy family. His great-grandfather is an oil tycoon and his father, Michael Armand Hammer, is the owner of the Knoedler Publishing and Armand Hammer Productions, a film/television production company.

The actor has previously stated he is financially independent from his family and said in a 2019 interview with GQ that he “doesn’t get any money” from them.

It comes after Hammer, 34, vehemently denied allegations of sexual assault and cannibalism.

A 24-year-old woman, known as Effie, claimed to have had an on/off relationship with Hammer for four years after meeting him on Facebook in 2016. She alleged that he had “violently’”assaulted her for four hours, repeatedly hitting her head against a wall.

Hammer reacted to the allegation in January when explaining why he was stepping away from the rom-com Marry Me.

He said: “I’m not responding to these bulls**t claims but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for four months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic.”

Donald Trump congratulates Nigeria for suspending Twitter

Bujari and Trump

Former US President, Donald Trump has congratulated the Nigerian government for suspending Twitter activities in the country.

“Congratulations to the country of Nigeria, who just banned Twitter because they banned their President. More COUNTRIES should ban Twitter and Facebook for not allowing free and open speech – all voices should be heard,” Trump said in a statement.

The Republican politician also encouraged other countries to follow in Nigeria’s footsteps and ban Twitter and Facebook before stating that he should have banned Twitter and Facebook when he was in the White House, but claimed he was discouraged by Mark Zuckerberg.

“In the meantime, competitors will emerge and take hold. Who are they to dictate good and evil if they themselves are evil? Perhaps I should have done it while I was President,” Trump added. “But Zuckerberg kept calling me and coming to the White House for dinner telling me how great I was. 2024?”

Trump congratulates Nigeria for suspending Twitter, says more countries should ban the platform.

The statement was posted to Twitter by reporters from several News outlets because Trump himself is banned from that platform, as well as Facebook, over the deadly Jan. 6 attack at the U.S. Capitol by his supporters.

Trump’s congratulatory message comes days after Nigeria suspended Twitter indefinitely last Friday.

The Nigerian government made the decision after Twitter deleted Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari’s tweet for violating its abusive behaviour policy and several calls by Nigerians to take it down.

Naomi Osaka not performing in the upcoming Berlin tournament soon due to mental health concerns

Naomi Osaka has pulled out of a second tournament just a week after pulling out of the French Open due to mental health reasons.

The Japanese tennis star withdrew from next week’s Berlin WTA 5000 grass-court tournament, an event that begins on June 14 that she was expected to compete in as a warm-up prior to Wimbledon.

“We have received notification Naomi Osaka cannot start in Berlin. After consulting her management, she will take a break,” Berlin event organizers said in a statement.

Last week, Osaka announced her decision to drop out of the French Open after organizers threatened to expel her from the tournament for refusing to speak to the media and hit her with a $15,000 fine.

“I think now the best thing for the tournament, the other players and my well-being is that I withdraw so that everyone can get back to focusing on the tennis going on in Paris. I never wanted to be a distraction and I accept that my timing was not ideal and my message could have been clearer,” she previously wrote on Instagram.

Over the weekend, Osaka spoke for the first time since her withdrawal with a short statement expressing gratitude for the support she has received from her fans. “Just want to thank you for all the love,” she wrote on her Instagram story. “Haven’t been on my phone much, but I wanted to hop on here and tell you all that I really appreciate it.”

Last week, REVOLT reported that Calm, the meditation and sleep app, offered to cover the fines for any tennis player who opted out of media interviews due to mental health reasons. “To support Naomi Osaka’s decision to prioritize her mental health, Calm is donating $15,000 to @LaureusSport in France, an organization doing incredible work in the mental health space to transform the lives of young people through the power of sport.”

“But this is bigger than any individual player,” the meditation app continued. “Calm will also pay the fine for players opting out of 2021 Grand Slam media appearances for mental health reasons, and we will match the fine with a $15,000 donation to @LaureusSport. #MentalHealthIsHealth.”

Erica Mena and Safaree Samuels fight over child custody in divorce case

“Love & Hip Hop” couple, Safaree Samuels and Erica Mena are reportedly embroiled in a fight over child custody in their divorce case.

The pair are calling it quits after Erica who is pregnant with their second child filed for divorce.

TMZ reports that Safaree is willing to give Erica their primary home, however, he is denying her request to have primary custody of their daughter Safire, and their unborn child.

According to TMZ, the estranged pair are at odds over who will receive primary custody of their children.

The report says Safaree is willing to give his ex the house, but he has rejected Mena’s request for primary custody. Instead, Safaree reportedly wants joint legal custody which will give him more rights in making decisions for their kids.

The reality star also reportedly said he “wants consistent and uninterrupted parenting and visitation with his kids.” Safaree is willing to give up his rights to their current home as long as his name is removed from any financial liability.

As for some of their properties, he wants the cars and has asked to keep any and all personal property purchased during their year and a half marriage.

Safaree also confirmed that he rejected alimony but will honor whatever child support payment that the courts see fit.

Back in November 2020, Safaree “announced” online that he and his wife would be divorcing, but he quickly returned with an apology while calling his move immature.

UK Lawyer dismissed for her tweet about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s daughter’s name

A UK family lawyer has been suspended after posting tweets mocking the name of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s daughter.

After the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their daughter’s name and explained that it was a tribute to Harry’s mother and grandmother, people began to mock them and their support for the Black Lives Matter movement by asking why they didn’t give their daughter a name showing their support for the movement.

Journalist Julie Burchill asked why they didn’t name their daughter after the late George Floyd who died after a police officer knelt on his neck.

She wrote on Twitter: “What a missed opportunity. They could have called it Georgina Floydina.”

In response to Julie, a lawyer named Joanna Toch, 59, questioned why they didn’t name the baby after Meghan’s mother, Doria.

She wrote: “No Doria? Don’t black names matter?”

Toch quickly apologized for the insensitive reply, writing in a follow-up tweet: “I am very sorry for the comment and what I saw was a joke. I’ve fought during my professional life against racism which is abhorrent.

“I’m not a judge and I have children of colour and I apologise unreservedly.”

Her Twitter account has since been deleted and she has been suspended from her position at the Family Law Cafe (FLC).

Toch is herself the founder of FLC, and the decision was reportedly made by its board of directors.

On Monday, June 7, the company issued a statement reading: “Family Law Cafe (FLC) has suspended Joanna Toch with immediate effect pending an internal review into her recent comments on Twitter.

“FLC considers her comments as offensive, unacceptable and highly contradictory to the inclusive manner in which FLC always and will continue to work with members of all communities in managing the challenges of matrimonial and family disputes.”

French teen stabs Dad to death, records it and posts video online

A teenager in France has been arrested after stabbing his father to death and then sharing images of the crime scene online, investigators said on Tuesday, June 8.

The 17-year-old in Ploeren, a town of about 6,000 in the northwestern Brittany region, called police late Saturday, June 5, to say that “he had just stabbed his father to death in the family home”, prosecutor Francois Touron said in a statement.

When police arrived at the home, they found the dead man’s body with multiple knife wounds, and arrested the son, who was under the influence of alcohol.

Already, the teen had shared a video of the crime scene on social media, Touron said.

Police quickly took down the video, and a psychological support unit was set up to help the recipients, and their parents, with any trauma from viewing the gruesome footage.

According to investigators the teenager, after drinking at a party, made his way to the home where his father had been living alone for weeks after his wife and their two children moved out.

He let himself in, took two knives from the kitchen, woke his father up in the bedroom and stabbed him, the prosecutor said.

The boy told police he had wanted to put an end to his father’s violent behaviour, triggered by drinking, which he said had caused much suffering for the family.

Last month, the boy’s mother filed a domestic violence complaint against her husband and authorities opened a criminal investigation. She then left the family home with the couple’s two children.

An investigating magistrate late Monday charged the teenager with voluntary manslaughter and the publication of images related to a crime involving bodily harm.

Bill Gates comes to work on Mercedes then disappears in a Porsche to meet women – New report claims

A new report by Vanity Fair has claimed that billionaire Microsoft co-founder, Bill Gates would drive to work in his Mercedes before driving off in a golden brown Porsche that an assistant brought for him, in what his staff believed was his way of allegedly secretly meeting women.

The 65-year-old Bill announced his divorce from Melinda French Gates, his wife of 27 years, on May 4.

Bill Gates drove to work in Mercedes then disappeared from work in a Porsche to meet women - New report claims

On Monday, June 7, the report in Vanity Fair revealed new rumors about his alleged serial infidelity, including how he would switch cars to try to cover his tracks.

‘We all assumed that it was when he was with women,’ one Microsoft employee told Vanity magazine.

‘I knew there were many offsite meetings that were not on his calendar.’

The report also reveals how Melinda hired a private investigator even though she has denied it.

Bill Gates drove to work in Mercedes then disappeared from work in a Porsche to meet women - New report claims

Another employee denied the account of the story, pointing out that Gates was meticulous with planning his day.

They said he was ‘one of the most intensely scheduled people on the planet.’

Two sources told the magazine that someone in Melinda’s circle worked with a private investigator  and the Private Investigator’s findings will form part of the divorce case.

A spokesperson for Melinda has denied the allegation.

” Neither Melinda nor anyone at her direction ever hired a private investigator.’

The magazine also reported that many of the Microsoft employees were made to sign Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) to prevent them talking about his management style.

‘For such a long time you were told: ‘You have an NDA. You can’t talk,’ said a former employee, who signed such an agreement.

They said they were emboldened to speak about working for Gates due to the current reporting, but knew there were risks.

They said lawyers were standing by and keeping watch.

‘And these are not nice lawyers,’ they added.

Last month The New York Times reported that Gates, a father of three, allegedly chased women who worked for him a few times when he was the chairman of Microsoft.

He once emailed an employee to ask her out to dinner, and another time told a woman who worked for the Gates Foundation that he wanted to take her out to dinner while they were on a business trip to New York.

In 2019, Microsoft’s board of directors opened an investigation into his behavior after it was notified about his advances on an employee in 2000, and Gates stepped down from the board the following year, after the company hired a law firm to look into the allegation.

The Gates’ are worth $130 billion, according to Forbes.

R.Kelly’s lawyers request to withdraw from the case ahead of federal trial

Two lead attorneys who have been working with R. Kelly have requested to withdraw from the case ahead of the embattled singer’s upcoming federal sex trafficking case in Brooklyn

The attorneys, Steven Greenberg and Michael Leonard filed documents to withdraw, which have yet to be approved, on Monday.

“Our reasons for withdrawal are significant and it is impossible, in our belief, for us to be able to continue to properly represent Mr. Kelly under the current circumstances,” Greenberg wrote to U.S. District Judge Ann Donnelly. The two Chicago-based attorneys also said that they “are willing to (serve) as effective stand-by counsel” if it’s deemed necessary by the court.

The request comes amid reports Greenberg and Leonard are having disagreements with the other attorneys that are on the team that’s defending Kelly.

“We refused to try a case with lawyers who don’t have the appropriate level of experience and skill because that is not in the client’s best interest,” the two attorneys said in a statement that was provided to TMZ. “It is a shame that lawyers can’t suppress their own egos or self interest and do or act in the client’s best interest.”

Kelly is also represented by attorneys Douglas Anton, Thomas Farinella, and Nicole Becker. Those attorneys told TMZ “that Mr. Kelly terminated both lawyers prior to filing their motion.”

The singer’s New York trial is scheduled to start on August 9. He’s facing charges of racketeering, sexual exploitation of a child, forced labor, kidnapping, enticement, and bribery. R. Kelly, who is also facing sexual abuse charges in Chicago, has been held in custody at Metropolitan Correctional Center while awaiting trial.

Ohanaeze Youths threatens War if Father Mbaka is harmed

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council (OYC) has issued a strong warning to the Department of State Services (DSS) that there will be war if the Spiritual Director of the Adoration Ministry Enugu, Nigeria (AMEN), Father Ejike Mbaka, is harmed after he was summoned to Abuja following his calls for the President’s resignation or impeachment over insecurity challenges in the country.

While addressing congregants on Sunday, June 6, the Catholic Priest said DSS operatives were at his residence in Enugu state to drop a letter inviting him to their office in Abuja.

He also said the security officials at his house did not collect the letter from the DSS operatives.

On Monday, The OYC, in a statement issued by the President-General, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, said it would not tolerate further harassment of the priest and threatened that there will be war if the Spiritual Director of the Adoration Ministry Enugu, Nigeria (AMEN) is harmed.

The statement stated, “I condemn the invitation because it is a plan by the Federal Government to silence Fr. Mbaka; whoever speaks without supporting the government, they now come for the person, just like it banned Twitter.

“There will be war if anything should happen to Father Mbaka.

“DSS has no reason to invite Mbaka. The same Mbaka prophesied the emergence of Buhari, he was not invited by DSS then, but now that he is talking about the state of the nation, hunger and killings in the land, DSS came to invite him.

“But we warn that any plot against Mbaka must be resisted by Igbo youths, let nothing happen to him. This onslaught against a revered priest in Igbo land should stop forthwith.

“The Enugu Catholic Bishop should cease from trying to silence Mbaka. Mbaka has been talking under two past Bishops- Eneja and Gbuji, they did not disturb him. We are in the know that the FG is on the neck of Onaga to silence Mbaka.

“They want Mbaka banned and sent out of the Catholic Church. But they must know that the physical cannot control the spiritual.

“Mbaka should continue to prophesy to the world, those who don’t have such a gift are just envious of him.”

Seyonga alleged that Prophet TB Joshua is fake and his death means victory. He also claimed that the Nigerian Pastor initiated some Pastors in his country into “witchcraft” because he is the biggest “witch” in Africa.

He added though heaven doesn’t rejoice when a sinner dies, TB Joshua’s death however means many will also go. Seyonga went on to call down “fire” on other Christian preachers in the continent he described as “false Prophets”.

Watch the video below…………..

Clergyman, Chris Okotie, shared a cryptic post on his Facebook page this morning in which he referenced a certain ”wizard of Endor” who assumed the title of ”Emmanuel”.

In his post, the clergyman said the Wizard who assumed the title of Emmanuel had been consumed by divine indignation. His post comes days after clergyman, T.B Joshua who is known for using the name ”Emmanuel” in his church, died.

Okotie’s post reads

”Hebrews 1:13… Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool (Hupopodion/Greek)

The wizard at Endor who assumed the title Emmanuel, has been consumed by divine indignation. And now his disciples bewail his ignominious exit.

No marvel, one third of God’s angels followed the disgraced anointed cherub Lucifer!!

Jehovah-Jesus our mighty gladiator has broken the head of the dragon with his mighty blows. He has descended from the mountain of spices with the fiery sword of his indignation. Glorious in his apparel and traveling in the greatness of his strength, he goes conquering and to conquer the adversaries of his church.

Let those who swear by the Lord and by Malcham and the descendants of Haman, now tremble in fear. The day of the vengeance of our God has fully come to Nigeria. And they shall not escape. Operation Hupopodion (footstool) has commenced.

More Power To You !!!

Rev Chris Okotie”

US recovers half of Ransom paid to Russian Hackers after Colonial Pipeline hack

United States investigators have recovered millions of dollars of cryptocurrency paid to Russian ransomware hackers in the Colonial Pipeline cyberattack, the Justice Department said in a statement on Monday June 7.

“Earlier today, the Department of Justice has found and recaptured the majority of ransom Colonial paid to the DarkSide network in the wake of the ransomware attack,” said Lisa Monaco, the US deputy attorney general, during a press conference.

“Ransomware attacks are always unacceptable – but when they target critical infrastructure, we will spare no effort in our response,” Ms Monaco added. “Today we turned the tables on DarkSide.”

The FBI was able to recapture a portion of the ransom by obtaining a password to DarkSide’s Bitcoin account. Investigators seized $2.3 million of the $4.4 million paid to the ransomware group by court order from the account, according to court documents.

The recovery of a ransom paid by a company who had fallen under a cyberattack was a rare occurrence.

Last month, Colonial Pipeline CEO Joseph Blount revealed in an interview with The Wall Street Journal that his company paid about $4.4 million in ransom in Bitcoin to DarkSide, a ransomware hacker group based in Russia, after it suffered the cyberattack.

Typically a ransomware attack involves hackers locking up computer systems by encrypting data and paralysing networks before asking for a large ransom from the targeted company to unscramble it.

The FBI has long advised companies against paying a ransom when hit by a ransomware attack, as paying the hackers gives them more incentive to target other organisations.

“The FBI does not support paying a ransom in response to a ransomware attack,” the FBI states on its website. “It also encourages perpetrators to target more victims and offers an incentive for others to get involved in this type of illegal activity.”

But Mr. Blount defended the highly controversial decision to pay the ransom given how the company’s 5,500-mile-long pipeline, which runs between Texas and New Jersey, was a vital part of the United States’ fuel industry. The pipeline delivers fuel to about 45 percent of the East Coast.

“It was the right thing to do for the country,” Mr. Blout said at the time. “I didn’t make it lightly. I will admit that I wasn’t comfortable seeing money go out the door to people like this.”

The cyberattack was reported on 7 May and forced Colonial Pipeline to shut down its pipeline for several days while it worked to restore operations. This caused gas prices to increase and residents in the impacted states to panic buy.

The Department of Justice has warned companies that cyberattacks would likely continue and encouraged vital agencies to adopt proper security measures that would protect their services from these hacks.

Ondo Communities shut markets, shops to honour TB Joshua

  • Why we want him buried in Arigidi, by monarch
  • Condolence registers opened at church in Ikotun
  • He left when Nigeria needed him most, says Baptist President

Leaders of Arigidi community in Akoko Northwest Local Government Area of Ondo State have closed down markets and shops to honour the founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua.

The late cleric hailed from Arigidi and he had been providing support for the needy in the community and its environs.

He worked for restoration of electricity in the area, provided scholarships for indigent students, gave money and food to the elderly and widows.

Besides Arigidi, other nearby towns also shut down their markets to mourn the man they regarded as a father.

It was gathered that condolence registers have been opened at the palace of Zaki of Arigidi, Oba Oba Yisa Olanipekun and the home of the late T. B. Joshua’s elder brother.

Several mourners were said to have besieged both places to sign the condolence registers.

Those who spoke with TM said it would take a long time for the wounds the late cleric’s death caused in their hearts to heal.

The Onigedegede of Igedegede, Oba Walidu Sanni, said the late Joshua’s philanthropic gesture extended to widows, orphans and disabled persons in many communities, apart from Arigidi.

He said Akoko land has lost one of its shinning lights.

Also, Oba Olanipekun yesterday explained why the people were pushing for Prophet Joshua to be buried in the community.

Addressing reporters at his palace, the monarch said other clerics, like Moses Orimolade, were buried in his Ikare hometown.

He added that burying Joshua in Arigidi would ensure his philanthropic legacy remained in the heart of the people.

Oba Olanipekun said the late preacher touched many persons in every part of Akoko land.

The monarch said his greatest regret was that the late Joshua could not complete the university he started in Arigidi.

“He would bring rice to the people whenever we requested. He hated to see people go hungry. He was instrumental to the electrification of many communities in Akoko land after years of darkness,” he said.

Authorities of Synagogue Church of all Nations (SCOAN) have opened a condolence registers at the church in Ikotun, Lagos State.

Two registers were opened at three of the five church entrances in which members and other sympathisers signed and paid their last respects to the late prophet.

Some of the messages read: “We’ll miss you prophet, rest on”; “You are the last of the prophets for this generation”; “The world rejected you but you lived and died well” and “Rest on, my father and mentor, we love you”.

The President of Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev. Israel Akanji, has said Prophet Joshua died at a time the country needed him most.

He described the death of the late preacher as a big loss to Nigeria.

A statement yesterday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, by Nigerian Baptist Convention’s spokesman, Pastor Eben Durodola, also described the late prophet as humble, peaceful and lover of the poor.

Rev. Akanji said Nigeria needed his prayer, particularly for insecurity, which the country is currently battling to overcome.

He commiserated with the family and church of the late priest and prayed God to comfort and grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.

US Paramedic who cut $8,000 diamond ring from dead woman’s finger and sold it, pleads guilty

A paramedic who cut a diamond ring off the finger of a dead patient and went on to pawn it has pleaded guilty nearly two years after she was arrested.

Lisa Darlene Glaze was arrested in Nov. 2019 in Arkansas shortly after the family of Gloria Robinson noticed she was not wearing her $8,000 diamond ring when she was pronounced dead at a hospital in Hot Springs.

Robinson’s family asked hospital staff including Glaze why three of the woman’s rings were missing when they were given Robinson’s personal effects. However they did not get a response.

Two days later, an anonymous parcel arrived at a funeral home and contained two of Robinson’s rings, but not her most valuable one.

Police later found the ring, valued at $7,946.63, on sale for $45 at a pawn shop and a shop employee confirmed Glaze sold the ring to the store.

On Monday, June 7, Glaze, 51, pleaded guilty to a felony count of theft but will avoid jail time with a sentence of six years’ supervised probation. She will also pay a small fine and court costs.

TB Joshua’s wife, Evelyn, recounts how her husband died

Evelyn Joshua, wife of Temitope Balogun Joshua, popularly known as T.B. Joshua, has disclosed the incident leading up to his death.

Speaking with some selected journalists on Sunday, June 6, she said that her husband, the founder of Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), “ended his race prayerfully”.

She revealed the televangelist spent about three hours in prayers before the last service on the mountain and appeared to be very healthy. She said he never showed any sign of illness or worry and that his main concern was about the prayer line they offered to Indians against the COVID-19 pandemic.

She said: “Afterward, he came up to shower and I left him to have some time to prepare for service as worship had started.

“Few minutes later, he stepped out for ministration. While ministering, he spoke about a time to come and time to leave. His statements were spiritual and suddenly, he left the stage and went to his inner chambers.

“I waited a few minutes and thereafter decided to check on him. I met him sitting on the chair like someone reflecting but unconscious. I quickly beckoned on his disciples who came and tried to revive him to no avail.”Of a truth, he went home to be with the Lord and left us with a message, watch and pray.”

On Sunday, June 6, Evelyn mourned her husband on Twitter,  writing; “Losing a loved one is never easy; whether sudden or foreseen. It is always heart-breaking. Grief can wreak havoc on our overall well-being. That’s why it’s important to stay rooted to the Almighty. Only He can lessen our heartache and comfort us in these times. Seek refuge in him.”

Mariah Carey quits Jay-Z’s Roc Nation after 3-year-battle

Grammy Award winning singer, Mariah Careh has changed management.

Mariah Carey parted ways with Jay-Z’s management company, Roc Nation after three and a half years and according to The Sun, it came after a “huge fight” between the stars about the future of Carey’s career.

“Mariah and JAY had an explosive meeting which did not go well at all,” a source told the Sun.

“She has made it clear she wants nothing more to do with him and has called it quits with Roc Nation.”

“It is a shame because they had done some great work in the last few years. But this meeting couldn’t have gone much worse,” said the insider.

The Roc Nation website no longer lists her among its clients.

Another source knowledgeable of the situation tells The Daily Mail that claims of a fallout between Mariah and JAY-Z are “simply not true.”

“Mariah’s relationship with Roc Nation ended amicably and Mariah and JAY-Z are on great terms,” said the source.

Carey, signed with Roc Nation in November 2017, and is said to have already begun “talking to other managers and thinks she has found someone who she feels has full belief in her.”

“There is a heavily R&B-influenced album being finalized at the moment and she is planning a world tour for next year, so she isn’t letting this stand in her way,” said the insider.

She is currently working on a new album and world tour.

Under Roc Nation management, Carey released her 30th anniversary album The Rarities and published her best-selling memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey. Additionally, she signed a deal with Apple TV+‌ for her holiday special, “Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special.”

French Govt. fines Google $268M for unfair online ads dominance

France has fined Google £190million after finding the tech giant abused its dominant market position while selling online adverts.

French regulators found Google had pushed publishers to use its platforms for selling adverts while unfairly punishing rival platforms, using a range of tactics which included charging ”opaque and variable commission fees. ” Google has agreed to pay the fine and end some of its self-preferencing practices, the watchdog said.

The investigation found that Google gave preferential treatment to its DFP advertising server, which allows publishers of sites and applications to sell their advertising space, and its SSP AdX listing platform, which organizes auction processes and allows publishers to sell their “impressions” or advertising inventory to advertisers. Google’s rivals and publishers suffered as a result, the regulator said.

The ruling, which blasted Google for an ‘extremely severe’ infringement of the rules, came after claims by three media groups – Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp, French newspaper Le Figaro, and Belgium’s Groupe Rossel.

Isabelle de Silva, president of the French Competition Authority, said in a statement the decision is the first in the world “to look at the complex algorithmic auction processes by which online advertising ‘display’ operates.”

She added that the investigation revealed processes by which Google favored itself over its competitors on advertising servers and supply-side platforms, which are pieces of software used by publishers to manage, sell and optimize ad space on their websites and mobile apps.

“These very serious practices have penalized competition in the emerging online advertising market, and have enabled Google not only to preserve but also to increase its dominant position,” said de Silva.

“This sanction and these commitments will make it possible to re-establish a level playing field for all actors, and the ability of publishers to make the most of their advertising spaces.”

Google announced in a blog on Monday June 7, that it will be making a series of changes to its advertising technology.

“We recognize the role that ad tech plays in supporting access to content and information and we’re committed to working collaboratively with regulators and investing in new products and technologies that give publishers more choice and better results when using our platforms,” wrote Maria Gomri, legal director of Google France.

The investigation came after U.S.-based News Corp, French newspaper Le Figaro and the Belgian press group Rossel filed a complaint against Google.

Didier Deschamps mocks Jose Mourinho’s spell at Tottenham Hotspur

French national team coach, Didier Deschamps has mocked Jose Mourinho’s spell at Tottenham Hotspur, saying he expected more from Mourinho’s spell in North London.

Mourinho who has recently been appointed head coach of Serie A giants AS Roma, was in charge of Spurs between November 2019 and April 2021, 17 months after being named as the successor to Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham.

The 58-year-old former Chelsea boss recently gave his assessment on the upcoming European Championships labelling France as favourites, stating that they “have to win” the tournament in order to be successful.

But Deschamps saw that as a subtle dig and has fired back at Mourinho citing his poor spell in charge of Spurs.

Talking to French television outlet TF1, Deschamps said: “I thought the same thing about his Tottenham team, but it did not end up happening like that.

“Automatically, with the status of world champions, we are favourites, with three more years of experience. I have a very important offensive potential.

“But it’s not just that. You talk about balance but I don’t disconnect them from our midfield too. We will do everything to have the ball as much as possible but there will be times when we will not have the ball.

“It is not a pressure, it is a reality, we will not run away from the debate: France is one of the favourites for this Euro.”

Director, Media and Advocy of the anti-narcotic agency, Femi Babafemi, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, June 6, said the suspected traffickers tried to either import into Nigeria or export to the United Kingdom and Italy, the illicit drugs all of which were intercepted and seized in five different bids.

“The first attempt to bring into Nigeria 76 pellets of cocaine weighing 1.150kg was made by Agudozie Peter Ihie on 25th May, 2021, but he was arrested during inward security clearance of passengers on Qatar airline from Kenya, at the E-arrival hall of Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos,” the statement reads.

“At the point of arrest, he was found in possession 36 pellets of cocaine concealed in his pants. While under observation, he excreted additional 40 pellets. During preliminary interrogation, he confessed to have swallowed the drugs in Nairobi but became pressed during the transit period in Doha and excreted some wraps onboard the aircraft en route Lagos.

Barely two hours after the arrest of Agudozie Peter Ihie for cocaine ingestion, NDLEA operatives at the SAHCO export shed of the Lagos airport also intercepted 4.2 kilograms of heroin bound for Italy. Two freight forwarders have been arrested in connection to the seizure. During preliminary interview, one of the suspects stated that the consignment belongs to one of his customers based in Italy, and that it was sent to him from Benin, Edo state through a transport company.

On the 26th May, 2021, during inward security clearance of passengers on Qatar airline from Doha, NDLEA operatives at the E-arrival hall of the airport also arrested one Nnakaihe Ikechukwu (a.k.a Peprah Livinus) with 600 grams of cocaine. The illicit drug was cleverly concealed inside Ankara dress buttons.

The suspect who hails from Imo state however fraudulently obtained a Ghanaian passport using Peprah Livinus as his name. He is suspected to be a member of some of the illicit drug trafficking groups with multiple passports bearing different names in order to evade detection by security agencies.

On the same date, NDLEA operatives at the NAHCO export shed of MMIA intercepted 30.150 kg of Cannabis Sativa heading to Manchester in the United Kingdom via British Airways and arrested one Anyanwu Chika who is a cargo bag stitcher in connection to the bid. The drug was neatly concealed inside 30 pieces of bankus palm nut cream tin (banga soup) after emptying the real content.

In his confessional statement, he admitted to have been contracted by one of his customers based in Manchester and had negotiated with him for the sum of one million naira but was paid only seven hundred thousand naira.

On Thursday, 3rd of June, 2021, operatives equally intercepted 11 parcels of heroin weighing 1.2kg concealed in eleven packs of Indomie noodles at SAHCO export shed of the Lagos airport. The drug was to go with Ethiopian Airline to Malaysia via Addis-Ababa. A freight agent and an errand boy for the owner of the exhibit have been arrested in connection to the foiled bid.

Reacting to the latest arrests and seizures at the MMIA, Chairman of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) commended the Commander, Ahmadu Garba, officers and men of the airport Command for their tenacity and commitment to the mandate of ridding the nation of illicit drugs.

He charged them to remain unrelenting and always watch out for the disingenuous modes of concealment traffickers employ to beat detection.

Nigerian Govt. gives condition to lift suspension on Twitter operations

The Federal government has given a condition to lift its indefinite suspension of Twitter operations in Nigeria.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, disclosed this during a meeting with foreign envoys in Abuja today June 7. According to Onyeama, the micro-blogging site will be restored in Nigeria only if the platform can be used “responsibly”.

Onyeama said although there is no definite timeline for when it will be restored, the micro-blogging site was suspended so as to stop it from being used as a platform for destabilisation and facilitation of criminality

“The condition would be responsible use of the social media and that really has to be it.

We are not saying that Twitter is threatening the country or any such thing. Why we have taken this measure is to stop them to be used as platforms for destabilisation and facilitation of criminality or encouragement of criminalities” he said

FG gives condition to lift suspension on Twitter operations

At the meeting held in Abuja were the envoys of the US, UK, Canada and the European Union, all of whom had condemned the “indefinite” suspension of Twitter in Nigeria.

Onyeama told newsmen after the meeting that the meeting was called for because the Federal government takes the comments of the envoys “very seriously”, hence the decision to discuss the matter with them in the “usual friendly way.” The Minister added that the Buhari administration has to keep an eye on its “main objective and legacy” which, according to him, is the security of lives and property.

“We want to use social media for good. Differences of opinion is not a problem; everybody will not think alike.

But lives matter; Nigerian lives matter and we have to do everything we can to preserve Nigerian lives. And when we feel our goals are threatened, actions need to be taken.”he said

See the World’s Tallest Boy Who is Just 8 Years But is Already 6ft 6inches Tall (Photos)

Eight-year-old Karan Singh of India has been named the world’s tallest boy towering over 6ft.

Karan Singh is twice taller than his classmates   A schoolboy who measures a whopping 6ft 6in is believed to be the world’s tallest eight-year-old at – twice the size of many of his classmates.   Karan Singh, from Meerut in India, has been a record breaker all his life, entering the Guinness Book of Records as both the heaviest and tallest baby at birth. Now his Dad Sanjay, 41, hopes his son’s amazing height will be recognised again.

“When Karan was born, he weighed 7.8 kg and was over 63 cm in length. So that got him into the record books instantly.“Then, when he was five-years-old, he got the record for being the tallest toddler. He is eight now and I want to get him into the Guinness Records again,” said Sanjay whose son is already his height.

Karan is not the tallest in his family and seems to owe his extraordinary height to mum Shweatlana, 33, who was named India’s tallest woman with a towering height of 7ft 2in.

Shweatlana, 33, is a basketball player and has represented India in numerous national and international sports events.   Although it’s not clear what has caused their lofty height, there is the possibility that both mum and son have an excess of the growth hormone.

Sanjay said: “We take Karan to an endocrinologist regularly. Until now, the tests have not shown any problems and everything is normal. Karan has a good stamina and has no internal problems.“I am a naturopath by profession and I make sure that we follow a special diet and supplements along with a healthy day to day lifestyle.

Despite towering above his classmates, Karan manages to do everything his smaller friends do.   He said: “After finishing my homework, I play with my friends and then I go play basketball with my mother; she started teaching me since I was five years old and I want to play basketball like her, but I also like science a lot.”

The family attracts a lot of attention when they step out together, but say their main problem is getting clothes and shoes in their enormous sizes.   Shweatlana said: “When Karan was born, he didn’t fit into regular baby clothes. We had to get clothes for a six month old baby for him.“At the age of three, clothes for a 10-year- old would fit him. Now, his shoe size is already 12 and sometimes we don’t get that in the markets and have to get them made.”

Mum and son have the same shoe size and often wear each other’s, and Karan’s clothes are often especially made for him.   Shweatlana said. “My clothes have to be stitched specially. I don’t even find bangles or sandals in my size. Now we get Karan’s clothes tailor made as well.”

Far from being embarrassed by his height Karan has said he would like to keep growing.   He said: “I like that I am tall and that my mom is tall. I want to be taller than my mom and make my parents proud.“But if I have to choose between becoming a doctor and a basketball player, I will choose basketball for sure.”   And proud mum Sweatlana insists that her and her son’s stature is nature’s gift.   She said: “As they say, a tiger’s son grows up to become a tiger. Karan is also the son of a tigress. He will grow up to be a tiger.”

ISWAP finally confirms death of Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau

Abubakar Shekua

The Islamic State West Africa Province has confirmed that Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau is dead.

In an audio recording obtained by news agencies, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) said Shekau died detonating explosives on himself after a battle between the two groups.

A voice said to be that of ISWAP leader Abu Musab al-Barnawi, was heard saying that Shekau “killed himself instantly by detonating an explosive” after being hunted down and offered a chance to repent and join the ISIS-linked group.

He added that “Shekau preferred to be humiliated in the afterlife than getting humiliated on earth.”

The audio statement is ISWAP’s first confirmation that its arch rival in the Lake Chad region has been killed. It is also speculated to be an end of a violent rivalry between the two groups, enabling Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) to absorb Boko Haram fighters and consolidate its hold on territory in northeastern Nigeria.

ISWAP was previously part of Boko Haram before its split five years ago, pledging allegiance to Islamic State. The schism was caused by religious ideological disagreements over the killing of civilians by Boko Haram, to which ISWAP objected.

DSS Summons Father Mbaka

  • The Department of State Services (DSS) has summoned Father Mbaka.

TM reports that the operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have summoned the Spiritual Director, Adoration Ministry Enugu, Father Ejike Mbaka, to Abuja for questioning.

It was gathered that the operatives visited the church in Enugu State to drop the letter of invitation. However, they didn’t meet the cleric at the church premises.

Details of why the DSS summoned Father Mbaka were not stated in the letter.

TM, however, learnt that it might not be unconnected with Mbaka’s criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in recent times.

Father Mbaka has attracted attention lately with his criticism of the current administration when he said God had rejected President Buhari and unhappy with his leadership.

Meanwhile, Father Mbaka, while reacting to the summon via a video, said, “I got a call that the DSS people from Abuja came here (Enugu) with a letter of invitation to Abuja. Over what? What I cannot understand is that the mother church in Nigeria should be “cowed down” to lilliputian.

“The church is a lion and lamb. The bible says if the foundation is destroyed, what can the righteous do. Every priest is a prophet and a king.

“We must protect the sheep. In this time, when killings are every day story, when there is hunger everywhere, people do not have hope again. The only hope I have is God. Anybody who will stop people from worshipping here will regret it.”

The cleric added, “I am the servant here. They don’t understand history. I spoke against Abacha. I went to Minna to tell Babangida what was wrong in his time. I spoke to Obasanjo face to face. I perform under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. I ministered to the late President Yaradua. I am being used by a higher being called the Holy Spirit.

“If they are attacking me here and there, no wahala (no problem). The Bible says if God is for us, who can be against us? Only God can be God. I heard the security people did not accept the letter.

“They asked them to come on Monday to give me the letter. If they know the anointing here is too hot for them, let them change. I will not keep quiet,” Father Mbaka stated.
