Fresh off his appointment as head coach of the French national team, Zinédine Zidane is once again making headlines—not just for his return to football’s biggest stage, but also for the disciplined lifestyle that has kept him in remarkable shape years after retiring from the game.
The former France captain, who has long been linked with the national team job, has always maintained that leading Les Bleus was his ultimate coaching ambition. Having turned down several offers in recent years, Zidane previously revealed that managing France was the only role he truly wanted after his successful spell with Real Madrid.
While many former footballers struggle to stay fit after retirement, Zidane has continued to prioritize his health through a simple but consistent routine. Speaking in an earlier interview, the 54-year-old explained that staying active is essential to both his physical and mental well-being.
“I enjoy going for walks, getting fresh air, and I play padel regularly. It has become part of my life,” Zidane said.
His healthy lifestyle extends to his diet, which he shares with his wife, Véronique, a former professional dancer. According to Zidane, the couple keeps things simple at home.
“At home, it’s salad and fish. No excess,” he revealed, adding that they both embrace the same disciplined approach to nutrition and fitness.
With a combination of regular exercise, balanced eating, and consistency, Zidane continues to look as sharp as he did during his playing days—a mindset he hopes will serve him well as he begins a new chapter on the touchline with the French national team.
