Afrobeats star Davido has officially stepped into public service after being appointed Chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund in Osun State.
Speaking during a Twitch livestream with Davreltv, the singer described the appointment as the start of his “political journey” and revealed plans to expand the state stadium’s seating capacity from 5,000 to 15,000. He added that the renovation project is already close to completion.
In videos shared from a political gathering at Imole House in Osogbo, Davido confirmed his growing involvement in politics. He announced the inauguration of the Imole Youth Mobilization campaign council and revealed that he had officially joined the Accord Party ahead of the August governorship election.
The singer said his current focus is supporting his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, in his re-election campaign.
Davido also dismissed suggestions that politics would end his music career, saying he would continue performing even if he eventually takes on a government role. He further disclosed plans to study Political Science at the postgraduate level in the United Kingdom.
Recent appearances at Adeleke University and the NYSC Orientation Camp in Ede, where he interacted with students and corps members, have further fueled conversations about his increasing political influence.
