Robbery Attacks Repelled, Two Stolen Vehicles Recovered in Oba and Awka

In a significant win for security and public safety, the Anambra State Police Command has successfully repelled armed robbery attacks in two key areas – Oba and Awka – leading to the recovery of two vehicles earlier snatched by the perpetrators. This swift action underscores the command’s unwavering commitment to combating crime and ensuring the peace of mind for residents.

According to a statement released on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Tochukwu Ikenga, these successful operations are a direct testament to the robust security and safety measures put in place by the Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu. The command’s proactive patrols and rapid response capabilities continue to foil the plans of criminal elements across the state.

Coordinated Response Leads to Recovery

The PPRO detailed how coordinated efforts and swift responses by police operatives from the Central Police Station, Awka, and the Oba Division led to the recovery of the snatched vehicles in separate operations.

The first incident, on September 4, 2025, at approximately 10:10 pm, saw police operatives attached to the Central Police Station, Awka, recover a snatched Lexus ES 350 car with registration number Lagos – BDG 350 JR. The vehicle was found along Parkers Road, Awka, following a coordinated chase. Earlier, four armed men operating in a tricycle had blocked the victim along Ifite Road, Amaenyi, forcing him to abandon his vehicle before fleeing the scene with it. The quick thinking and relentless pursuit by the police ensured the criminals could not get away with their loot.

Similarly, in the early hours of September 5, 2025, police operatives attached to Oba Division received crucial information about a black Lexus RX 300 Jeep with registration number Anambra – AWK 31 DU, which had been abandoned by unidentified persons around the Mummy Hotel axis, along the Owerri–Onitsha Expressway, Oba. Acting swiftly on the intelligence, police operatives moved to the location and successfully recovered the vehicle, which has since been safely towed to the station. Investigations are actively ongoing to apprehend the culprits involved in both incidents.

The Power of Partnership: Police and Public Collaboration

While commending the dedication of the police operatives, the Anambra State Police Command also extended its profound appreciation to the good people of Anambra. PPRO Ikenga highlighted that their timely and useful information played a pivotal role in these successes. This effective collaboration between the Police and the public, he noted, remains a key strategy in combating crime and fostering a safer environment for everyone.

These recent recoveries serve as a powerful reminder that the Anambra State Police Command is vigilant, responsive, and determined to rid the state of criminal activities. It also reinforces the crucial message that community engagement and sharing vital information are indispensable tools in our collective fight against crime.

Let us continue to support our law enforcement agencies by remaining alert and reporting any suspicious activities. Together, we are building a safer and more secure Anambra.
