And the influencer responded: “Same photo.”

Tom Cruise loses cash as thieves steal his BMW in Birmingham

Tom Cruise reportedly had thousands of pounds worth of luggage stolen after thieves took his the actor’s bodyguard’s £100,000 BMW.

The 59-year-old is currently in the UK filming scenes for the forthcoming film Mission: Impossible 7 in England.

Tom Cruise loses thousands of pounds worth of luggage as thieves steal his bodyguard?s BMW in Birmingham

A source told the publication: ‘Tom had been driven around in the car while in Birmingham and some of his luggage and belongings were inside it when it was taken.

‘It’s since been recovered by police because it was equipped with an electronic tracking device but everything inside it had gone.

‘It’s a huge embarrassment for the security team and the guy who had been driving it was hopping mad — but not as mad as Tom!’

The bodyguard in charge of Tom’s security staff was said to have made the discovery of the stolen car early on Wednesday August 25.

The insiders said the thieves were able to steal the car in only minutes after it was left outside the hotel which is only a two-minute walk from the West Midlands Police headquarters.

The police also released a statement regarding the theft, reading: “We received a report of a BMW X7 stolen from Church Street, Birmingham in the early hours of Tuesday morning.”

The statement added that “the car was recovered a short time later in Smethwick” and that “CCTV enquiries have been made in the area that the car was recovered from”.

“Inquiries are ongoing,” according to the police.

IVF: Woman shocked to discover that her husband is not her son’s father, sues clinic

A woman and her husband are shocked after ordering an at-home DNA test that revealed the husband is not their son’s biological father.

Donna and Vanner Johnson jokingly decided to do the DNA test last year as they thought it would be a fun thing to do as a family.

But they didn’t expect the results to turn their lives totally upside down.

Speaking to ABC4, the couple, from Utah, USA, explained how they had conceived their 12-year-old son through IVF.

However, it was only when they received the results from the test that they found out Vanner wasn’t the boy’s biological father.

Recalling the moment he saw the papers, Vanner said: “When I looked on that page and saw mum for him and father unknown, I thought ‘what do you mean father unknown?’

“I am his father.”

Woman shocked to discover that her husband is not her son

After contacting the clinic where they’d received their IVF treatment, it was confirmed that Donna’s egg had been fertilised with a stranger’s sperm.

The dad continued: “There were a lot of emotions we had to work through including separating the love of our son which has not changed.

“This mistake that happened, how could it happen, why did it happen and what do we do now.”

While they processed the news, the couple decided not to tell their son straight away.

Woman shocked to discover that her husband is not her son

After one year, the family decided to track down their son’s biological father, who visited the fertility clinic on the same day with his wife.

Describing the awkward phone call, Vanner recalled: “I say to him… if I understand you are Devin McNeil, your wife is Kelly, both of you did In Vitro a number of years ago.

“He said ‘yes’ and I said ‘well I have something I need to talk to you about.'”

Since making contact with their son’s biological father, Devin and Kelly have travelled from their home in Colorado to Utah to meet the family.

The couples are currently in the process of taking legal action against the clinic.

Vanner added: “It’s grossly inadequate with that we are dealing with. And as we got going through that process…I thought because of what we are dealing with, it would be treated differently or more gingerly and it’s not at all.”

Nigerian man arrested for cyber fraud after he went to file police complaint against an accomplice who cheated him of money he duped from others

A Nigerian national who walked into a police station with a “cheating” complaint in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly, has been arrested after it was discovered that he had been staying in India without a valid visa since 2011.

According to the police, the Nigerian identified as Robert Otujeme, had allegedly transferred “duped money” into the bank accounts of four Bareilly residents and was in the city to meet them as they had “cheated” him. He was later arrested on Wednesday night, August 25.

Upon questioning the Nigerian, the cops realised that he was involved in an alleged cyber fraud worth Rs 80 lakh.

The man has been staying in Dwarka, Delhi, without a valid visa and passport and is now being interrogated by intelligence agencies, Bareilly SSP Rohit Singh Sajwan said on Thursday, August 26.

Additional SP (Rural) Rajkumar Agarwal told TOI that “Robert Otujeme, a resident of Lagos city in Nigeria had approached the cops at Faridpur police station on Wednesday to lodge a complaint against one Harpal,  a city resident, for cheating. We found that he was without a passport and he was restless. Suspecting foul play, cops started questioning him.”

“Upon investigation, we unearthed a larger racket. Harpal’s actual name is Mehandi Hasan and he had opened bank accounts on fake ID proofs. There were transactions of over Rs 80 lakh in the four accounts and the money was transferred from other accounts in the country.”the ASP said.

He added, “We are trying to verify if this racket is linked to any Hawala or drug peddling or if it is a case of cyber fraud. The bank transactions are being thoroughly scanned by experts.”

For years now, Otujeme was allegedly misusing the bank accounts of several individuals by “transferring the money duped from others and sharing 20% with the real account holder”.

He has been booked under sections of Passports Act, the Foreigners Act and the IT Act along with relevant IPC sections of forgery while Hasan and his son Arbaaz Khan have been booked for forgery. They are still at large. Two of Hasan’s aides are also under police scanner.

UK may end accepting and evacuating refugees from Afghanistan today

The UK  says it will end its evacuation mission in Afghanistan today, August 27 citing security concerns.

The UK defence ministry says it has closed its refugee processing centre in Kabul following the terro bomb attacks that killed over 90 people in Kabul on Thursday, August 26.

The Abbey Gate of Kabul airport, the scene of a deadly explosion yesterday, was shut in the early hours of the morning.

The Baron’s hotel, which has been used as the processing centre to deal with thousands of claims from those trying to flee the new Taliban regime, has also closed.

UK defense minister, Ben Wallace said efforts to get tens of thousands of people out of the country is entering its final stages and conceded ‘the sad fact is not every single one will get out’.

Mr Wallace told Sky News on Friday , August 27: ‘We will process the people that we’ve brought with us, the 1,000 people approximately in the airfield now and we will seek a way to continue to find a few people in the crowds where we can, but overall the main processing is now closed and we have a matter of hours.’

Nearly 14,000 British nationals and Afghans have been rescued as part of the mission which began in the middle of August.

Wallace insisted Thursday’s terror attack at the airport had not hastened the UK’s departure.

‘The threat is obviously going to grow the closer we get to leaving,’ he told Sky News.

‘The narrative is always going to be certain groups, such as IS, will want to stake a claim that they have driven out the US or the UK.

‘We closed the Baron’s hotel almost exactly on schedule. The explosion was horrendous, but it didn’t hasten our departure.’

Lagos was ranked 56th safest city in the world

Lagos has ranked 56th safest city in the world in a research list published by The Economist

The research, which is published by The Economist every two years, ranked Copenhagen in Denmark as the safest city in the world, a position previously held by Tokyo.

Lagos ranked 56th safest city in the world

The report ranked the safety ratings of cities around the world based on five distinct categories: Digital Security, Health Security, Infrastructure Security, Personal Security, and the newly incorporated Environmental Security.

Copenhagen outranked former leaders Tokyo in four out of the five categories, with the Japanese capital only ranking higher on health security.

The Danish capital received an overall safety score of 82.4 and was closely followed by Toronto which was scored 82.2.

Despite this, the Danish capital only led the world one of the five categories – Personal Security.

When asked in the report about what makes Copenhagen such a safe city, lord mayor Lars Weiss said: ‘One key factor that makes Copenhagen such a safe city is its low crime rate, currently at its lowest level in more than a decade. We focus greatly on early intervention with preventive initiatives.

‘Copenhagen is also characterised by great social cohesion and a relatively narrow wealth gap. It is a mixed city where both the cleaning assistant and the CEO meet each other at the local supermarket and have their kids in the same school.’

Despite this, the lord mayor did concede that the city still has a problem dealing with ‘repeat youth offenders’.

Commenting on ranking Copenhagen as their safest city, the Economist wrote: ‘Toronto and Copenhagen do noticeably better in the new environmental security pillar than do any of the top-three cities from earlier years.

‘Copenhagen is definitely a worthy overall leader and Toronto a well-deserving runner-up, but as much because of long-term success in making residents secure as from any particular improvements in the last two years.’

Breaking! 3rd explosion occurs in Kabul with at least 60 killed including 12 US marines

In an unfolding of the terrible humanitarian scenes in Kabul, Afghanistan, at least 60 people including 12 US marines have been reportedly killed after a third bomb explosion was heard at the Kabul airport on Thursday, August 26.

Update:?Third explosion occurs in Kabul with at least 60 killed including 12 US marines

Taliban officials earlier said that at least 13 people including children have been reported dead at Hamid Karzai International Airport, with the death toll rising since then.

Update:?Third explosion occurs in Kabul with at least 60 killed including 12 US marines

An Afghan interpreter who was there hoping to be evacuated described how he saw a girl believed to be around five killed by the bomb:

He told the BBC: ‘I saw a baby there and I went to her and I picked her up and started taking her to the hospital. I took her to the hospital, but she died on my hands.’

Reports say one bomb carried by suspected suicide bombers exploded at Abbey Gate just outside the airport, and at least one other was detonated at the Baron Hotel a short distance away.

This comes as the US under president Joe Biden announced a sudden exit from Afghanistan following 20 years of war following the 9/11 terror attacks on US soil.

Update:?Third explosion occurs in Kabul with at least 60 killed including 12 US marines

As at press time, Biden is yet to address Americans.

A US official says the attack outside Kabul airport is ‘definitely believed’ to have been carried out by the Islamic State group.

Pictures on social media show people walking around wounded, in shock, while others were pictured moving dead bodies.

The UK Ministry of Defence however, said UK soldiers didn’t experience any casualty.

The UK MOD said in a statement: ‘We are working urgently to establish what has happened in Kabul and its impact on the ongoing evacuation effort.

‘Our primary concern remains the safety of our personnel, British citizens and the citizens of Afghanistan. We are in close contact with our US and other NATO allies at an operational level on the immediate response to this incident.’

Woman banned from Belgian Zoo after her 4-year ‘affair’ with a Chimpanzee

A zoo in Antwerp, Belgium, has banned a woman from seeing her favorite chimpanzee because their relationship is interfering with the chimp’s ability to bond with his fellow primates.

Adie Timmermans, a regular at the zoo’s primate enclosure, was told this week by the Antwerp Zoo that she would be prohibited from seeing Chita, a 38-year-old chimpanzee she calls the apple of her eye.

“I love that animal, and he loves me,” Timmermans said to Belgian news channel ATV, adding she had been visiting Chita every week for four years.

Timmermans described her interactions with Chita as a “real relationship” and said her bond with the chimpanzee was like “having an affair.”

She shared clips of herself pressed up against the glass of the monkey enclosure, “kissing” Chita through the glass and waving to him.

Timmermans says it isn’t fair that she has been banned from seeing Chita, while scores of other people are allowed to. She said the chimp is “all” she has in her life.

“I haven’t got anything else. Why do they want to take this away from me?” Timmermans told ATV tearfully. “Other dozens of visitors are allowed to make contact with Chita, but why not me?”

Woman banned from zoo after 4-year

But Antwerp Zoo spokeswoman Sarah Lafaut, who manages the zoo’s mammal collection, had a good reason for the ban.

“When Chita is constantly surrounded by visitors, the other animals ignore him and don’t consider him part of the group,” Lafaut told ATV.

Lafaut added that as a result of Chita’s interactions with Timmermans and other human visitors, he spent all his time outside the zoo’s opening hours sitting in isolation, completely shunned by the rest of the primate troupe.

“An animal that is too focused on humans is less respected by its peers,” Lafaut said.

According to a Dutch daily newspaper De Gelderlander, Chita’s fondness for humans could be traced to the fact that he was once kept as a pet but was given to the zoo 30 years ago when his owners found his behavior unmanageable.

He has long had issues integrating into the zoo’s chimpanzee troupe, reported De Gelderlander, noting that Chita was injured in a 2008 brawl with several other chimps.

Hurray! A Baby girl born on evacuation plane as her mother fled Afghanistan (photos)

An Afghan girl born aboard a US military plane heading to Germany as her family was fleeing Taliban rule, has been named Reach after the aircraft’s code name.

The baby’s mother reportedly went into labor on Saturday while flying from a staging base in Qatar to the Ramstein Air Base. Shortly after the plane landed, military medics helped the woman deliver her baby in the cargo hold of the plane.

‘They named the little girl Reach. And they did so because the call sign of the C-17 aircraft that flew them from Qatar to Ramstein was Reach,’ said Gen Tod Wolters, commander of US European Command.

The code for C-17 cargo planes is usually ‘Reach’ followed by a number.

According to tweets from the US Air Mobility Command, the mother started having complications shortly after going into labor so the aircraft commander descended in altitude to increase pression, saving her and the baby’s life.

When the flight landed, personnel from the 86th medical group at the Ramstein base came aboard and delivered Reach, who was later transported with her mother to a nearby facility.

Reach and her parents now await relocation to the US.

‘As you can well imagine, being an Air Force fighter pilot, it’s my dream to watch that young child called Reach grow up and be a US citizen and fly United States Air Force fighters in our Air Force,’ said Wolters at a Pentagon briefing.

Army Captain Erin Brymer, the nurse who delivered Reach, told CNN that she was expecting the worst and hoping for the best.

‘When the baby came out screaming! And we were able to put her directly on the mom’s chest and get her breastfeeding right away.

‘I was like, ‘Okay, we’re good here,’ she said. She called the baby’s delivery ‘the coolest moment of my life.’

Of the 7,000 people evacuated from Kabul who had passed through US bases in Europe since August 20, only 100 required medical care. Among the 100 Afghans, 25 have been admitted to a local hospital and 12 have already been discharged.

Two other babies were born after their mothers landed at the Ramstein base, Wolters said.

Japanese Court sentences Yakuza Criminal Syndicate to Death by Hanging

A senior member of the Japanese Yakuza criminal syndicate has been sentenced to death by hanging.

A court in Fukuoka found Satoru Nomura, 74, the head of the Kudo-kai in Kita-Kyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, had ordered four assaults, one of which resulted in death. Nomura denied any involvement.

The Asahi Shimbun newspaper reports that judge Ben Adachi also sentenced to Nomura’s second-in-command, Fumio Tanoue, 65, to life.

Nomura reportedly threatened the judge saying, “I asked for a fair decision but this is not fair at all. You will regret this for the rest of your life.”

The Japanese don plans to appeal against the sentence.

Japan sentences powerful Yakuza criminal syndicate to death by hanging

The court ruling said Nomura and Tanoue, “conspired to carry out four attacks”. Nomura, “gave an order in the murder case and the other three crimes were carried out under a chain-in-command structure”.

Those who carried out the attacks have already been convicted, local reports said.

The first of the four assaults occurred in 1998, the Asahi Shimbun reports: “A former leader of a local fishery cooperative was shot on the streets of Kita-Kyushu. The second occurred in 2012 – a former Fukuoka prefectural police officer was shot in Kita-Kyushu. The third occurred in 2013 in Fukuoka, in which a female nurse at a clinic where Nomura was seeking treatment was stabbed.

“The fourth took place in 2014, in which a male dentist, who happened to be a relative of the former fishery cooperative leader, was stabbed in Kita-Kyushu.”

The judge described Nomura’s actions as “extremely vicious”.

The prosecutors argued Nomura, “deserved the harshest sentence because none of the victims in the four incidents had connections to rival gangs”. They said: “Ordinary citizens became a target in all of the incidents, repeatedly posing a direct threat to society.

“These incidents were unprecedented in the extremely egregious nature of the crimes carried out by organised gangs.”

The defence, however, argued Nomura, “had no motivation to attack,” in any of the four cases and he told the court: “I am innocent.”

Yakuza membership is not illegal in Japan and Yakuza-owned businesses and gang headquarters are often clearly marked.

Estrange Ugandan Couple celebrate their divorce after 6 years of separation (photos)

A former couple from Uganda have celebrated their divorce after six years of separation and two children.

To mark the occasion, Immaculate Nantongo and her ex-husband went out to dinner together and cut a ‘happily divorced’ cake.

The social entrepreneur took to Facebook on Wednesday, August 25, to share the news after her divorce was finalized.

“So finally my divorce is final yeeeeeeey after 6yrs of separation. Today I choose to celebrate an end of something that resulted into two handsome boys. I celebrate the friendship ,the co parenting and the maturity,” she wrote.

“7yrs ago I didn’t know we would be at this place sitting together and sharing a meal. how time heals everything… Deciding to let go of the hurt, betrayal and choosing to forgive wasn’t a simple thing but I did and we are in the best place we could ever be”

The mother of two, however, said that her intention is not to glamorize divorce but to show people that they can still be civil with their ex after parting ways.

“Am not here to glamorize divorce but to tell anyone in a similar situation, divorce is not the end of life. You can still be civil with your ex. Life can still be beautiful but also to let you know that God is not mad at you. Yes he hates divorce but he loves you so much,” she added.

Writing further, Immaculate said that divorce was much better than staying in a marriage which would lead to death.

“No parent would want their child to endure or be killed in a relationship just for the sake of it. If we earthly parents want the best for our kids how about God our father?

“God hates divorce for what it does to people, it breaks up families but in the midst of your divorce you can choose to make the most out of your situation. Co parent better. It’s all about giving your kids the best opportunities in life. Making the best decisions for them

“So for one last time, we came together to celebrate the life we had and the individual lives we live.Happy divorce day to us and to the next chapter of my life. Romans 8:28

Nigerians reacts as Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin splashes 15M Naira in helping Sex Workers [video]

Prophet Fufeyin has changed our life, 15 sex workers say as Billionaire Prophet splashes N15m on humanity

Fifteen sex workers, who encountered a life changing moment at the Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, Warri have recounted horrible experiences they face as Billionaire Prophet, Jeremiah Fufeyin splashed N15m on humanity.

In a video shared on the internet and watched by this medium, the founder of the church, Fufeyin had during a church service asked people engaged in sex work (prostitution) to accept Jesus Christ and turn from their ways. About 15 ladies answered the ‘alter call’ and were led to Christ while being offered a Bible.

Fufeyin, who decried that young people are being pushed into prostitution due to the prevailing situation in the country, said apart from preaching the gospel, people needed source of living to stop engaging in shameful acts.

The prophet therefore offered the sex workers and a loyal church worker about N15 million urging them to start-up businesses and contribute meaningfully to the society and the nation’s economy. Honestly, this is so emulating, this is Christianity.

“It is not enough for us to lead them to Christ. Some of these people have no one to help them. Today, we are offering you this token through the Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin Foundation to support your chosen small-scale business,” Fufeyin said.

Some of the sex workers, who expressed joy, saying their lives took positive turn around noted that while they have been tired of their situations, quitting has been impossible due to lack of livelihood.

One of the beneficiaries, who identified herself as Amarachi from Ebonyi State said she was not happy about being a sex worker, adding that, “some of us are doing it due to frustration because we do not have anyone to help us.”

According to her, the support has changed her life because of the dangers she usually encounters including fear of ritualists.

“We might be killed. Sometimes it is God that saves us. I am happy about what God has done today. If every man of God should put this into practice, Nigeria will never remain the same,” Amarachi said.

She disclosed that she would be starting up a restaurant while stressing that there was need to save sex workers from the streets.

Identifying herself as Favour, another beneficiary of the fund said she was tired of being a sex workers, disclosing that she had engaged in the act a night before the church service but was forced to church by her friend.

“I am ashamed of it. People are already pointing at me on the street over the job. I have been doing it for two years. I want to pledge with other pastors to help people. With this money I will go into make-up and hair business,” Favour said.

PhotoShoot Goes Wrong: A Model mauled by Leopard

A model has been left with horrific injuries after being mauled by a leopard during a photoshoot that went horribly wrong.

Jessica Leidolph, 36, reportedly entered the big cats’ enclosure at a retirement home for animals in the city of Nebra, Germany, on August 24. Troja, a 16-year-old leopard, suddenly lashed out and bit her cheek, ear, and head.

According to Dailystar, Jessica lost consciousness and was airlifted to the hospital, where she underwent surgery and was left with permanent scarring.

After false reports that the predator escaped and was on the loose, Burgenland District spokesperson Steven Muller-Uhrig said: “The animal never broke out. There is currently no danger to the population.”

The police are investigating who else was present at the photoshoot and what safety precautions were taken.

A Burgenlandkreis district spokesperson revealed that keeping leopards does not require a permit in Saxony-Anhalt and said: “It is not legally limited by the state.

Owner of the big cats, Birgit Stache, 48, who has worked as an animal trainer for 20 years and holds a legal license to keep the animals, is currently being investigated for negligent bodily harm along with other people responsible for the animals on the farm.

The authorities are considering taking away Stache’s license for the retirement home for show animals.

The Effects of masturbation on Married Couples Today

Dele and Shayo (not real names) have been married for a few years. Shayo is a housewife, taking care of the kids, while Dele goes to work every day. Dele came back from work one fine evening, expecting to get “something light” from his wife after dinner, only for her to say “Dele I have already masturbated a few hours ago, so I am not really in the mood right now”.

This was the fifth time Shayo was telling him this in three weeks, so obviously, she had replaced “Dele” with her “fingers,” using her newly purchased vibrator hidden away somewhere in the house. Dele was so angry at being deprived of his right. Being a Christian, he didn’t believe in cheating on his wife, and he didn’t want to be put in that situation so he wanted her to stop using that “evil” vibrator right away. Out of fear, she threw it away, but couldn’t overcome the urge soon and started using her fingers to please herself, Dele couldn’t take it anymore when he discovered and that was the beginning to the end.

This story is the same or slightly different with many other experiences of couples in various homes. Some partners accept it because they feel it’s much better than “adultery”, while some see it as a slap on the face. The interesting part is men rarely talk about it amongst themselves. Women are more open in discussing it with each other, while couples don’t even want to mention it at all. Really interesting, isn’t it?

Couples should be open about their sexual wants and desires, as well as their dislikes. 85 % of men and 45 % of women who live with their spouses are said to have masturbated. Vibrators, sex machines, sex toys and even sex dolls are steadily replacing human contact and encouraging masturbation addiction. Many people would argue that this is more common with men, than women, well that is not our debate for today, but on how it affects both genders and its aftermath in a relationship. Masturbation is derived from the Latin word “manstuprare,” meaning “to defile one’s self by hand”.

Many couples I have counselled or spoken to say that masturbation is a very uncomfortable topic to broach. Imagine walking in on your partner masturbating? So many questions will be running through your head at once. Apart from immediately casting and binding the devil, there are several thoughts that rush through your mind, number one being who or what is my partner thinking about while at it?  Some couples may wonder if masturbation can ruin their relationship. Other couples don’t even want to discuss it.

Masturbation often carries a stigma. Some religious, cultural and spiritual traditions associate masturbation with immorality or sin.

But the truth is masturbation can become an addiction which can cause harm to your relationship with several signals stated below.

When you get to a point where you inflict self-injury on yourself due to this habit, it can lead to other challenges in your relationship.

If your spouse uses masturbation to cope when they are under stress, especially when work pressure increases and next step is to quickly get a private place to “handle” themselves, then this is a big issue because apart from leading your partner to other stress management behaviour it can quickly escalate into a big problem, imagine having to get to the toilet anytime you are under duress.

This can create a feeling of rejection if one’s partner finds solace in masturbating rather than sexually connecting with their partner.  If your partner finds it very easy to replace physical contact with you, even when you are available.

We operate in a religious environment. The weight of guilt that presents itself with this act, especially in connection to our religious and spiritual beliefs (if you have any) will lead to secrecy or in some cases creating and maintaining a double life around your sexual lifestyle.

One of the criteria for addictive behaviour is the frequency of the act, sometimes partners who want to stop and are unable to do so, sometimes unconsciously increase after trying to make effort to stop due to the helpless feeling it gives.

Putting religion or cultural beliefs aside, it is an unhealthy habit with emphasis on the word habit, not only as an individual but for couples. Masturbation is very common among adults, yet it remains a challenging and uncomfortable topic

It causes a feeling of inadequacy, especially when the partner discovers about it, they tend to blame themselves, assuming that their spouse or partner is bored or unhappy with them. Masturbation is a problem that interferes with day-to-day life, especially when it is used to substitute real intimacy with another person.

Your partner may feel that his or her partner has been keeping secrets. What couples should understand is that couples have different viewpoints. People who masturbate may do so in different amounts. There is nothing like an acceptable number or not an acceptable number. where we can establish you have a problem with masturbation is when you can’t achieve orgasm with your partner through intercourse, the best is to seek help from a therapist. They can work with you and your partner to iron out major concerns affecting your relationship, or smaller issues you are struggling with.

So many couples if they can be a sincere struggle with masturbation. It all depends on if you feel you should tell your spouse that you masturbate. But you shouldn’t allow the feeling of inadequacy overtake you if you discover your partner masturbates, as long as you can maintain a healthy relationship where both individuals communicate effectively to understand each other and know exactly when to come in. Adult individuals are entitled to their own thoughts, even what our society might deem repugnant. Basically what should be your priority which is my major rule for relationships is that all your sex, including fantasies, should be with each other.

Is it possible to stop masturbation, especially when it is affecting your relationship? I would say yes! Definitely, you can stop it.

Instead of trying to restrict your partner’s behaviour for instance because restriction with words like “you must stop this habit at once’ will only aggravate issues. It is a matter of discipline and acceptance to try and stop, once there is a will there is away.  If you desire to help your partner to stop, then the best method is to

  1. Talk to them about the habit.
  2. Find out what triggers it (for instance work pressure).
  3. Ask them how you can help them stop it.
  4. Give mental and moral support; don’t make them feel ashamed.
  5. Try to turn their attention to something else, so that they get to use their time constructively.
  6. Do it slowly, change cannot happen overnight.
  7. Know when to seek professional help.

Learning to stop masturbating is a process and this process takes time. To overcome this behaviour you’ve practised for months and sometimes even years, you personally need several coping strategies in order to save your relationship and cause less damage to show them you really want to stop.

Keeping a full schedule will cut down on the opportunities you have for masturbation. Find activities that are self-soothing, engaging, or exciting. I personally recommend joining a gym, start running or jogging, exert yourself physically.

You will also need a healthy diet for your body, caring for yourself may reduce urges or provide motivation to resist. It can also provide a new focus for your energy and efforts.  You also need to be accountable to someone you trust, if you can find a support group. That would be excellent and the right path to recovery. It can also help you develop new behaviour. You need to limit your lone time, wear extra clothes at night to cover everywhere as much as possible, make it difficult for the temptation to be successful. Stop everything that triggers the urge, like porn, sex magazines and so on, and most of all, be patient with yourself while healing yourself. Good luck!

Japan halts the use of 1.63 million Moderna vaccines over contamination

Japan will halt the use of 1.63 million doses of Moderna’s Covid vaccine after reports of contamination in several lots, drugmaker Takeda and the health ministry said Thursday.

Takeda, which is in charge of sales and distribution of the Moderna shot in Japan, said it had “received reports from several vaccination centres that foreign substances have been found inside unopened vials from specific lots.”

“Upon consultation with the health ministry, we have decided to suspend the use of the vaccine from the lot from August 26,” it added.

The firm said it had informed Moderna and “requested an urgent investigation.”

Moderna did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Takeda did not detail the nature of the contamination, but said it had not so far received any reports of health concerns arising from affected doses.

The health ministry said it would work with Takeda to secure alternative doses to avoid disruption to the country’s vaccine programme, which has ramped up after a slow start.

Around 43 percent of Japan’s population is currently fully vaccinated, but the country is battling a record surge of virus cases driven by the more contagious Delta variant.

Around 15,500 people have died from Covid-19 in the country during the pandemic, and large parts of Japan are under virus restrictions.

‘R. Kelly coerced all his girlfriends to pen down letters denying they were sexually abused’ – victim testifies

A woman has testified that R&B hitmaker R. Kelly’s forced her and his other girlfriends to write fake blackmail letters denying allegations of abuse in order to protect himself from possible legal troubles.

The witness, testifying as a “Jane Doe” in federal court in Brooklyn, made the claims on Wednesday, August 25, at his New York City trial.

‘As insurance and a way to make sure these women wouldn’t talk, [Kelly] created and collected collateral. He made them create embarrassing videos and false letters,’ Assistant U.S. Attorney Maria Cruz Melendez said during her opening remarks at Kelly’s ongoing sex abuse trial in federal court in Brooklyn on Wednesday, the Daily News reported.

‘The defendant would tell us exactly what to say,’ the accuser, known on the witness stand as Jane Doe 5, testified.

Jane read excerpts from the letters aloud in court, one letter stated: ‘I decided I would spank myself really hard until I had bruises.’

When asked by the prosecution Wednesday if she had ever spanked herself, Jane responded: ‘Never.’

Jane, who has been on the witness stand since Monday, previously testified that Kelly, 54, would spank her in punishments he referred to as ‘chastisings’.

Jane, who met Kelly at a music festival in Florida when she was 17, testified that the singer’s lawyer told him to have ‘every girlfriend write a letter’ defending him after his 2008 child pornography trial.

‘The defendant would have other girlfriends make me write these letters. He said they would go to his attorneys and they’d never see the light of day,’ Jane, now 23, said.

The woman shared another letter with the court where Kelly told her to state she wanted to have sex and he only wanted to be friends.

‘If you don’t bring me back that d**k then I’m going to say you raped me. I’m going to say you raped me since I was a minor,’ she wrote in the letter. I’ll tell everyone you hit me.’

Assistant U.S. Attorney Maria Cruz Melendez argued that Kelly had the victims ‘create embarrassing videos and false letters’.

‘He kept it in his back pocket in case anyone tried to accuse him of anything,’ she said.

During Wednesday’s proceedings, Jane also read letters where she said her parents had suggested she lie to Kelly about her age, and that they tried to benefit financially from her relationship with him.

She claimed her parents had sought jobs from the musician and asked him to invest in their business proposals, including one involving a dildo that played Kelly’s music when in use.

‘They decided to bring dildos to his show,’ Jane wrote In an undated letter to her brother.

‘Mom pulled a dildo out in front of anybody and everybody. I thought it was a ridiculous idea.’

She also told her brother that her mother would ‘nag’ her to take photos and videos of her and Kelly so she could blackmail him, and pushed her to dress provocatively for their first encounter in 2015 when she was 17.

Jane left Kelly in October 2019 after having dated the singer for over four years.

She said during their first meeting, Kelly pressured her into having oral sex before granting her a singing audition. Afterwards, she began regularly meeting with Kelly and having sex with him in different cities, according to her testimony.

Jane also shared that her parents eventually agreed to put her under the care of a woman Kelly knew so Jane could live with him in Chicago while attending high school virtually.

The disgraced singer has pleaded not guilty to charges that he ran a decades-long racketeering scheme in which he abused six women and girls, including Jane and the late singer Aaliyah.  He’s vehemently denied the charges, claiming that the women were groupies who wanted to take advantage of his fame and fortune.

The federal trial is expected to last several weeks and, if convicted, Kelly could face life in prison. He also faces sex-related criminal charges in Illinois and Minnesota.

Additionally, Kelly is charged in a bribery scheme after he paid a $500 bribe in 1994 in order to get breakout singer Aaliyah, who was 15, a fake ID so he could marry her. Kelly allegedly feared that he had gotten the teen pregnant.

Manchester City offers Cristiano Ronaldo 2-year £230,000-a-week contract

Manchester City have reportedly offered Cristiano Ronaldo a two-year contract after missing out on signing Harry Kane this summer.

Pep Guardiola’s side had wanted Tottenham talisman and England captain to replace Kun Aguero who left for Barcelona,  but the £150million-rated forward announced on Wednesday that he is staying at Spurs for the coming season.

According to Gianlucadimarzio.com, City are willing to offer Ronaldo a two-year deal worth over £230,000-a-week but do not want to pay Juventus a transfer fee for the Portuguese icon.

The report says the Old Lady wants around £25million for the player which would allow them to find a replacement so late in the window.

Reports across Europe claim Ronaldo, 36, is looking for a new challenge and his agent Jorge Mendes offered him to City last week for £25m.

Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in Ronaldo with the French giants struggling to keep Kylian Mbappe, who was the subject of a £137million bid from Real Madrid this week.

Kylian Mbappe intends to quit PSG for Real Madrid – Leonardo Araújo confirms

PSG chief Leonardo Araújo has confirmed that Kylian Mbappe wants to leave the Frech club to join Real Madrid with the sporting director accusing the Spanish club of an illegal approach and a lack of respect.

In a interview with Marca, L’Equipe, Le Parisien, the agency AFP and radio RMC, Leonardo said: ‘PSG’s position has always been to keep Kylian. That’s been the aim for the last two years and it remains unchanged.

‘We made him a big offer two months ago – at the level of the best players – and another even more recently which was even higher, but this is a strategy of Real Madrid, to have the name of one of our players.

‘For the last two years the behavior of Madrid has been incorrect, illegal, getting in contact with his representatives, unacceptable, completely incorrect towards us. And the proof of this strategy is to present an offer seven days before the market shuts and a year before the end of his contract. It seems like a strategy that suggests they have tried everything.

‘It’s not the sum [offered] which we believe to be a long way from what we were thinking. And we are not going to sell a player for less than we paid for him when he was 18. We have to give a certain amount to Monaco and the offer is not sufficient.’

Leonardo continued: ‘I’m not going to get into figures but the €160m is less than we paid for him. But this goes further than this.

‘It’s the way things have been done. It’s disrespectful. We have done everything for Kylian to be with us and one week [from close of market] we are not going to change plans. If a player wants to go he goes but under our conditions.’

Leonardo also blasted back at the suggestion that PSG had promised the player he could leave in the last year of his contract if he received an offer.

He said: ‘How would we make a promise like that. Madrid have used the Spanish press and they have spoken to Kylian brazenly, it’s very disrespectful and illegal.’

Asked if the club was upset with Mbappe, Leonardo said: ‘We are not happy. But nothing and nobody is going to stop us from fulfilling our dream. There is a contract with a year left on it and an offer that is insufficient.’

‘There is no plan B. We have a very positive atmosphere at the club and everyone is excited about the project. We have never thought about a plan without Mbappe.’

He added: ‘I have always said that he would not leave the club on a free. We have spoken with him a lot and with his family and representatives. We have never opened the door to him [for him to leave]. If someone wants to go, we are not going to say no, but he will leave on our terms. We will see what happens.’

This comes a day after news broke that Real Madrid have made a £137m (€160m) bid to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain.

The La Liga giants reportedly made the offer on Sunday, August 21, for the 22-year-old.

“The situation in Afghanistan remains highly volatile and dangerous” – wounded Australian Says

An Australian citizen was beaten by the Taliban while desperately trying to reach Kabul airport so that he can be evacuated.

Distressing video shows the man with blood running down his face and splattered across his polo shirt, crying out that he is an Australian citizen who was trying to reach the airport.

“I am an Australian citizen but they hit me,” the bloodied man says before the video cuts out with the sound of gunshots and screaming.

The man, who was born overseas but lives and works as a barber in Adelaide, was assaulted as he headed to Hamid Karzai Airport along with his cousins, thought to include three men and two women.

A source close to the family said that one of the women accompanying the man had a phone hidden under her headscarf.

She has since messaged her Australian relatives to say the family has been split up and sent to different locations.

The man is believed to be in hiding now but his family in Australia fear it is “only a matter of time” before Islamist militants hunt him down.

Family members speak out after Australian man is beaten till he bled by Taliban guards near Kabul airport

The man’s brother, who lives in Sydney, told Daily Mail Australia on Thursday, August 26, that he has been repeatedly calling his sibling but his phone is switched off.

The bleeding man’s devastated wife told the ABC she had briefly managed to get in touch with her husband after the incident, but several hours have passed since she heard from him.

She said: “I was devastated. I was thinking, what should I do? What can I do?”

The wife has pleaded with authorities to find her husband and take him to safety. The family has heard that the man was given “poor medical treatment” after the assault and had been let go by the Taliban.

The man is believed to be in hiding. However, relatives have also heard claims of Islamist militants going “door to door” since.

“His life is in major danger and it’s only a matter of time for the Taliban to find him,” his cousin told the Mail on Thursday.

It is understood the man was in Australia until June when he went to Afghanistan to visit a sick relative, but became trapped by the Taliban’s rapid takeover of the country.

It comes as Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade issued urged its citizens not to head to the airport as the situation deteriorates further in the Afghan capital.

“Do not travel to Kabul Hamid Karzai International Airport. If you’re in the area of the airport, move to a safe location and await further advice,” the department said.

“The situation in Afghanistan remains highly volatile and dangerous.”

Hilarious: Afghans refuse to board Uganda Airlines plane

Many times on this page, I write lies. Not today. This one is as painfully real as watching Kadaga take office as deputy to Nabbanja.

I had been picked as one of the three journalists to cover the asylum of Afghan refugees. The Uganda Airlines plane touched down at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul at 13:00 GMT. At first, multitudes of Afghans scrambled to get to the plane.

Then something happened. A man pointed at the branding on the plane. One by one they started retreating. In no time they had all returned to the hanger.

It was only when we joined in what appeared like a meeting that bits and pieces of the puzzling scene started falling together. One of the Afghans demanded to know where Uganda is and stated in categorical terms that they were only supposed to go to the US or UK.

“I rather die in Kandahar than go to Africa,” a bald man said and sat heavily on the floor.
I first giggled and soon I was struggling to contain my heaving chest. The realisation of what the popular city has been turned into euphemism for something else was too much to bear.

A man started explaining to the asylum seekers of how Uganda was a free economy that would still be good for them than face the wrath of the Talibans but these guys would have none of it.

“I thought this was my chance to finally go to America but now they say Africa. Anyway, in which country is Uganda even? Is that in Egypt or Morocco,” a woman said.

“The phone says Uganda is in East Africa so that should be near South Africa but here is the funny message… they are saying we will live in the stadium where people were left to die from Covid-19,” a boy said, branding his smartphone.

“For you, at least you can arrive in that stadium but what of your sister? I hear their men have been camping at the airport waiting for our women,” a man said.

A man got up and walked toward the plane. He turned to look at the others while pointing at the plane. He then spoke in a language that was stranger than meeting Bad Black leading praise and worship choir in a church.

From the back of my head, I could make out that he was saying the plane was the “same Boeing” that got delayed in Dar es Salaam because of fuel.

“How can we even be sure they have fuel?” an elderly man asked. “You there! Yes, you. Is there fuel in that thing or is this some trick you are playing so that you make an emergency landing right at a place where Talibans will be waiting for us? Is that what Idi Amin instructed you to do?”

I tried to smile to indicate that I didn’t understand their language but another man shot up and shouted that I was pretending. He added that he was very sure he had seen in the news something that said a letter the President of the “country on that plane” had written ordering the prosecution of the airlines bosses had disappeared.

“I’ve an idea,” said a senorita-looking specimen wearing a tent that only allowed what looked eyes to see through a mesh.

“I’ve read that those guys recently arrested a Lumbuye who is accused of killing an endangered species of animal on social media. They picked him up in Turkey but the plane has never landed in… what is the Africa even called?”“Luanda,” replied a yawning man.

‘No, Wakanda,” said another.
“That Africa is in Uganda Airlines, according to the plane,” said a boy.

The group clapped for the boy and stroked his hair. The lass announced that it is possible that the plane would fail to land in Uganda like the one that took Lumbuye from Turkey to Turkey.

“Then there is still a chance that we can land in America or Canada, right?” a man asked eagerly.
At this point, I decided I was done imagining what these fellows were saying to themselves.

I put my phone down, flushed the toilet and got up to take my shower, right here in Mpumudde, Jinja.

Breaking: At least 30 persons have been reportedly killed in a fresh attack in Jos !

At least 30 persons have been reportedly killed in a fresh attack at Yelwan Zangam community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

It was gathered that several houses were also burnt down.

This is coming barely one week after 27 travelers were killed in Gada-biyu – Rukuba road, still in Jos North LGA.

Yakubu Bagudu, a resident, confirmed the fresh attack on Wednesday morning.

He said more than 30 people were killed, adding that security personnel had been deployed in the area.

The Plateau State Police Command is to is yet to give details of the incident, as at the time of filing this report.

There is still one region not conquered by the Talibans – The Panjshir region

An anti-Taliban resistance group in Afghanistan, the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRF), says it has thousands of people ready to fight.

The Panjshir region – in particular the Panjshir Valley is still under the control of the NRF, which was founded by Ahmad Massoud (pictured below) – the son of Afghan resistance hero, Ahmad Shah Massoud.

The region is famous for having successfully fought off invasions, including from Soviet forces during the Soviet-Afghan war from 1979 to 1989, and the Taliban in the 1990s.

Now the NRF say they are ready to defend and fight the Taliban if attacked, but will first of all seek negotiations with the group. If negotiations fail they will fight off the Taliban as history has always been on their side.

Ali Nazary, head of foreign relations for the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, told the BBC they want to pursue peaceful negotiations.

But, he added, “if this fails… then we’re not going to accept any sort of aggression”.

Nazary told BBC Radio 4’s  programme on Monday, August 23 that Panjshir had had a recent influx of local resistance forces from across the country, who have joined fighters they had already trained locally.

He said the group had “thousands of forces ready for the resistance”

“However, we prefer to pursue peace and negotiations before any sort of war and conflict,” the spokesman added.

“The NRF believes that for lasting peace we have to address the underlying problems in Afghanistan,” he continued. “Afghanistan is a country made up of ethnic minorities, no one is a majority. It’s a multicultural state, so it needs power sharing – a power-sharing deal where everyone sees themselves in power.”

Having one group dominating politics will lead to “internal warfare and the continuation of the current conflict,” he said.

“We prefer peace, we prioritise peace and negotiations,” Mr Nazary added. “If this fails – if we see that the other side is not sincere, if we see that the other side is trying to force itself on the rest of the country – then we’re not going to accept any sort of aggression.

“And we’ve proven ourselves, our track record in the past [40 years] has shown that no-one is able to conquer our region, especially the Panjshir Valley.

“The Red Army, with its might, was unable to defeat us… I don’t think any force right now in Afghanistan has the might of the Red Army. And the Taliban also 25 years ago… they tried to take over the valley and they failed, they faced a crushing defeat.”

Amrullah Saleh, who was vice-president in the government recently ousted by the Taliban is now based in Panjshir,  and has joined the forces ready to defend the district.

Meanwhile, the Taliban say they have surrounded the group’s Panjshir valley stronghold and put them under siege.

Resistance figures have also said the Taliban are now advancing in the region, northeast of the capital Kabul.

Cristiano Ronaldo may move to Manchester City Soon

Superstar footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly pushing for a move to Manchester City before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.

There have been doubts over the 36-year-old’s future at Juventus, with the Portuguese star reported to have asked to begin last weekend’s season opener at Udinese on the bench.

Ronaldo has one year remaining on his deal in Turin and the Italians are understood to be willing to let their talisman go for £25million amid links to Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.

According to L’Equipe, Ronaldo is currently pushing for a move to the Premier League, with the Portuguese attempting to engineer a switch to Pep Guardiola’s side this month.

The French outlet reports that Ronaldo is trying to create the right circumstances for a move, including a swap deal involving Portugal team-mate Bernardo Silva or defender Aymeric Laporte.

L’Equipe adds that a deal could be struck as soon as this weekend, in what would be a shock move as Ronaldo was a former player of Manchester United.

‘How many terrorists will Joe Biden bring to America? We don’t know!’ – Donald Trump

Former US President, Donald Trump has continued criticizing his successor, Joe Biden on his handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal by claiming that Biden is evacuating terrorists from the airport in Kabul to other countries while leaving Americans stranded in the country.

Trump made the comment about Biden on Tuesday afternoon, August 24, as he delivered remarks on the country fallen to the Taliban.

‘Biden surrendered Afghanistan to terrorists and left thousands of Americans for dead by pulling out the Military before our citizens. Now we are learning that out of the 26,000 people who have been evacuated, only 4,000 are Americans,’ Trump said in a statement, citing stats reported by Politico national security reporter Alex Ward.

Trump stated that ‘you can be sure the Taliban, who are now in complete control, didn’t allow the best and brightest to board these evacuation flights’.

Trump then claimed that terrorists were being evacuated from Kabul and said the number is unknown.

‘Instead, we can only imagine how many thousands of terrorists have been airlifted out of Afghanistan and into neighborhoods around the world,’ Trump stated.

‘What a terrible failure. NO VETTING. How many terrorists will Joe Biden bring to America? We don’t know!’

Biden has been highly criticized for his decision to withdraw US troops from the country when Americans, diplomatic staff, Afghan allies and military equipment were still in Afghanistan.

Following the fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban, Biden ordered 6000 troops back into the country to help in evacuating Americans and allies but US military equipment in their thousands are now in the control of the Taliban.

NAFDAC approves the Chinese Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine

Executive Director of National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Faisal Shuaib has said that the Sinopharm BBIBP-CorV COVID-19 vaccine has been approved for use in Nigeria.

Shuaib who made the announcement during a press briefing on Tuesday August 24, said the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) approved the vaccine three days ago.

He said;

“NAFDAC has approved Sinopharm vaccine. The approval was done three days ago. And yes, Sinopharm vaccine has also received WHO certification.

“So, it is a potential vaccine that we could use.

“There are so many vaccines out there, but one thing that we are very clear about is that we are not going to use all the available vaccines in Nigeria.

“At some point, we are going to draw a line in terms of the number of vaccines we would use, so that we can keep a close watch on the number of vaccines we are utilising in Nigeria.”

Shuaib also revealed that the vaccine which was developed by Sinopharm’s Beijing Institute of Biological Products, has two different acronyms which are BBIBP and BIBP.

He added;

“It completed phase three trials in Argentina, Bahrain, Egypt, Morocco, Pakistan, Peru and United Arab Emirates (UAE), with over 60,000 participants. BBIBP-CorV shares, similar technology with CoronaVac and Covaxin, other inactivated virus vaccines for COVID-19.

“Its product name is SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine ‘Vero Cell’, not to be confused with the similar product name of CoronaVac.”

Kanye West’s name may changed to ‘Ye’ soon

This is not the first time West has tried to drop his full name. In 2018, the rapper announced on Twitter that he’s no longer “the being formally known as Kanye West… I am YE.”

Afghanistan National Women’s Football Team are evacuated from Kabul

Afghanistan women’s national football team have been successfully evacuated from Kabul after it was reported that the women were at risk of becoming sex slaves to the Taliban and being tortured to death.

The footballers were among a group of more than 75 people evacuated on a flight from Kabul on Tuesday, August 24.

Global football players’ union FIFPRO thanked the Australian government for making the evacuation of players, team officials, and family members possible, with work continuing to help more leave Afghanistan.

‘These young women, both as athletes and activists, have been in a position of danger and on behalf of their peers around the world we thank the international community for coming to their aid,’ the union said in a statement.

During Taliban rule from 1996 to 2001, many sports and recreational activities including football were banned for all citizens, while women were forbidden from even leaving the house without being accompanied by a male relative.

Players had been advised this month to delete social media posts and photographs of them with the team to help avoid reprisals since the United States-backed Afghanistan government fell.

‘The last few days have been extremely stressful but today we have achieved an important victory,’ former team captain Khalida Popal said.

Popal is among a team of FIFPRO lawyers and advisors who have worked with authorities in six countries, including Australia, the US and United Kingdom, to get athletes and their families on to evacuation lists and flights to safety.

‘The women footballers have been brave and strong in a moment of crisis and we hope they will have a better life outside Afghanistan,’ Popal said.

FIFPRO general secretary Jonas Baer-Hoffmann said evacuations had been ‘an incredibly complex process.’

‘Our hearts go out to all the others who remain stranded in the country against their will,’ he said.

Joe Biden rejects the ‘Afghan evacuation extension’ beyond 31 August,2021

US President, Joe Biden has rejected pleas from his fellow G7 leaders to extend the evacuation date of people from Aghanistan beyond August 31 .

According to Biden, who will have the Afghanistan debacle as one of his foreign policy failures, the U.S. is on pace to complete its evacuation operation in Afghanistan by his Aug. 31 deadline, and that staying longer would increase the risk to U.S. troops, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Tuesday, August 24.

US allies including the U.K., France and Germany have lobbied the Biden administration to press the Taliban to extend the timeline, fearing they won’t be able to get their citizens and Afghan allies out in time.

But the Taliban on Monday, August 23 said it views the Aug. 31 date as a red line, and that the presence of foreign troops beyond that deadline would have ‘consequences’.

Biden is still aiming to get out before then though he has asked for “contingency plans,” the White House press secretary, Jen Psaki said.

Psaki said Biden stressed that the U.S. will need cooperation from the Taliban to finish the operation on time.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said earlier Tuesday, August 24, that the group would continue to allow foreign nationals to depart but would block Afghans from leaving the country, in a potential challenge to Biden’s promise to protect the Afghans who served alongside U.S. troops.

The Pentagon has acknowledged it will need time to withdraw U.S. troops and equipment, meaning the August 31 deadline might not be feasible.

After the virtual G7 gathering on Tuesday , the group issued a joint statement that included a list of conditions on which they said the legitimacy of Afghanistan’s next government would depend.

Those included preventing terrorism, allowing humanitarian access, countering drug and human trafficking and safeguarding the rights of women, children and ethnic and religious minorities.

“We will judge the Afghan parties by their actions, not their words,” the statement read.

U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson  who chaired the G7 meeting said afterward that the G7’s “number one condition” was that the Taliban allow safe passage for those who want to leave Afghanistan beyond Aug. 31.

‘Cameroon secessionists and IPOB planning to destabilize both countries’ – Nigerian Govt.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has said that the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, plan to form alliances with secessionist groups in Cameroon in order to destabilize both countries.

The National Security Adviser; Major General Babagana Monguno (rtd) made this known while speaking yesterday, August 24, at the opening ceremony of the 8th session of Nigeria – Cameroon Trans-Border Security Committee meeting at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

Monguno reiterated that Nigeria’s territory will never be used as a “haven or staging area” by any group of secessionists to destabilize another friendly sovereign country.

He pledged that Nigeria will work closely together to ensure that any real or perceived attempts to form any alliances between secessionist groups in Nigeria and Cameroon are decisively dealt with.

Monguno said: “We will continue to support the efforts of the Cameroonian authorities by engaging all aggrieved parties to de-escalate the security concerns in the North West and southwest regions of the country

“An emerging concern is the attempt by secessionist groups in Nigeria to form alliances with secessionist groups in Cameroon in order to destabilize both countries. Let me re-emphasize what I mentioned in my opening remarks during the 6th Session in 2019; President Muhammadu Buhari reassures you that Nigeria’s territory will never be used as a haven or staging area by any group of secessionists to destabilize another friendly sovereign country.

“In addition, we will work closely together to ensure that any real or perceived attempts to form any alliances between secessionist groups in Nigeria and Cameroon are decisively dealt with. Furthermore, we will continue to support the efforts of the Cameroonian authorities by engaging all aggrieved parties to de-escalate the security concerns in the North West and southwest regions of the country.

“The most dominant transnational security issue remains the threat of terrorism perpetrated by the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs). These terrorist groups continue to exploit the porous border areas to disrupt the livelihoods of innocent citizens in their communities.

“At this point, I am glad to acknowledge that the close counter-terrorism collaboration between our two countries has significantly curtailed the activities of these terrorists as well as other forms of criminality. In this regard, you have consistently demonstrated your courage, resilience, commitment, and steadfastness towards ensuring peace and stability along with the border areas of Cameroon and Nigeria.

“It is however necessary to strongly reiterate that the work of  securing our territorial borders is a collective responsibility and therefore we need to emphasize the importance of the sideline meetings of the Governors of contiguous border States/Regions. Their collaboration would no doubt assist in cross-border security and development initiatives.

“It is equally imperative to engage the border communities and the traditional/local authorities at the grassroot levels in translating the decisions of the Governors’ forum into concrete actions. This can be done through the activation of the Local Bilateral Committees which can also serve as platforms for integration and revival of our historical and socio-cultural ties.

“Our collective efforts under the auspices of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) to significantly degrade terrorist activities in the Lake Chad Basin are yielding positive outcomes. This multilateral platform in collaboration with our international partners needs to be further enhanced as we are witnessing the gradual movement of some terrorist groups from the Maghreb to the Sahel in order to form alliances.

“Nonetheless, we are also promoting series of developmental efforts in the North-Eastern part of the country to rehabilitate most of the isolated communities affected by the wanton destruction committed by terrorists.”

Reiterating the importance of expanding trade and investment in order to create a more viable and stable economy for “our people”, Monguno said: “Nigeria is one of Cameroon’s largest trading partners despite the security concerns along some of the trading routes such as from Maiduguri to Kousseri or Maroua; Jabbi Lamba to Garoua; as well as from Enugu to Bamenda amongst others. Our two Presidents have earlier called for the development of these trans-boundary trade corridors which would no doubt serve as veritable platforms for the integration of  ECOWAS  and ECCAS sub-regions.

“However, to effectively achieve this feat, we must collectively address smuggling of prohibited items and irregular migration amongst other transnational organized crimes. Meanwhile, it is necessary to state that this trade relationship is further reinforced by the recent conferment on Aliko Dangote, a Nigerian businessman with Cameroon’s top civilian award – Commander of the National Order of Valour for his outstanding contribution to the infrastructural development of Cameroon through his cement plants.

“In addition, the newly constructed 1.5km, a two-lane bridge between Nigeria and Cameroon in Ekot-Mfum border area of Cross River State is designed to ease movement, facilitate trade, improve cross border security as well as strengthen relations between both countries.

“We must therefore consolidate our joint efforts to address all the current and emerging security threats affecting both countries. This is due to the grave and unintended consequences of allowing such threats to thrive in our environment. Clearly, this underscores the collective resolve of our Presidents to continue to promote peace and stability in our  respective countries. I strongly believe that both countries will surmount the similar and varied security challenges and even emerge stronger and more united.”

In his remarks, Minister of the Territorial Administration, Republic of Cameroon, Mr. Atanga Nji Paul, declared the readiness of Cameroon to continue to work with Nigeria to intensify trans-border security along the two country’s borders citing a resurgence of  attacks by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorist groups and secessionists agitations as well as kidnapping and banditry.

Steph Curry’s Parents accuse each other of cheating as his Mom files for divorce

NBA star, Steph Curry’s parents have both accused the other of cheating, in their divorce proceedings.

According to TMZ, Sonya Curry, 55, filed paperwork June 14 in North Carolina for the split from Dell, 58, claiming that his ‘marital misconduct’ included multiple affairs that were known by family and friends.

NBA star, Steph Curry?s parents accuse eachother of cheating during their 33 years of marriage as his mom files for divorce

Sonya said she didn’t publicly reveal her knowledge of Dell’s cheating ‘in one final act of trying to protect [him] and family from possible public exposure and scrutiny.’

Sonya – who says she and Dell separated in March of 2020 – said ‘she was left with no choice’ but to reveal his cheating after he accused her of being unfaithful.

Dell said in court docs Sonya had engaged in ‘acts of illicit sexual misconduct’ before they had separated and subsequently lied about it.

In legal docs reviewed by the outlet, Dell alleged that Sonya is currently residing with another man, and therefore should not be eligible to collect alimony.

Sonya said in court docs that she has been dating a man in the months after she and Dell separated, but denied living with him, saying she lives on her own, as Dell would not let her stay in the family home following their split.

The former couple, who are parents to three children, met in college at Virginia Tech, and welcomed Steph in 1988, Seth in 1990, and daughter Sydel in 1994.

In a joint statement to People, Sonya and Dell said that ‘after exploring a trial separation over the past year and much thoughtful consideration, we have decided to end our marriage.

‘As this comes with a great deal of sadness, our focus and desire is for our family’s continued happiness,’ the statement continued. ‘We are so thankful for all the many blessings and successes!

‘We stay committed to and supportive of our children and grandchildren and will remain on connected paths. We ask that our privacy be respected and prayer for our family as we move forward.’

Dell played as a guard in the NBA from 1986 thru 2002, spending 10 years on the Charlotte Hornets, with stints on the Utah Jazz, Cleveland Cavaliers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Toronto Raptors.

He has worked as a commentator for the Hornets since 2009, while Sonya has presided over a Christian Montessori School.

Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyer explains why Nnamdi Kanu hasn’t sent video or audio messages from DSS detention

Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) lawyer, Barr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor has explained why the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has not been able to send an audio or a video message to his supporters since he was detained by the DSS in June.

The counsel said this while reacting to questions from an IPOB member on Tuesday, August 24

The IPOB supporter had raised concerns after Ejiofor gave an update on his meeting with the IPOB leader on Facebook.

‘In addition, given the tremendous need, Airbnb urges fellow members of the global business community to join efforts to provide immediate support to Afghan refugees.’

Man kills his child over a piece of fish

One Saviour Aniefok is reportedly on the run after he allegedly beat his seven-year-old son, Nathaniel, to death over a piece fish.

It was gathered that the incident happened at the suspect’s residence in the Shangisha area of Magodo Phase 2, Lagos State.

Aniefok allegedly tortured the boy on the allegation that he stole a piece of fish belonging to one of his customers.

According to Punch Aniefok, an artisan, had repaired a faulty microwave oven for a customer, who gave him a piece of fish to test it after repair.

Aniefok reportedly forgot to return the fish while delivering the repaired microwave to the customer so he took it home for preservation.

One of the neighbours told the publication that Saviour was fond of torturing Nathaniel and his brother, Charles.

“I still saw Nathaniel on Sunday afternoon. In fact, I gave him snacks to eat. Around 10pm, we started to hear Nathaniel shouting and crying for help; we also heard loud bangs on the floor and wall indicating that he was being beaten,” the neighbour said.

“As he was crying, Saviour was telling him to shut up. I personally thought their stepmother was at home to caution him. But later, we got to know she had travelled. Surprisingly, I heard Nathaniel died the following day.”

Another neighbour said the father facilitated Nathaniel’s burial the following day, adding that he went into hiding and took Charles along to conceal the crime

“I was told his father said he was sick; someone that I saw playing in the compound. The injuries he sustained during the torture must have been responsible for his death. We only saw Saviour on two separate occasions after his son died. We have also not seen the stepmother of the children

“We learnt that the police have arrested his brother but we don’t know if Saviour has been arrested. I have seen him torturing one of the boys to the point of carrying the boy up and slamming him to the ground,” the neighbour said.

Another neighbour said he saw Saviour and three other persons attempting to convey Nathaniel to a location in the state around 4am.

“I saw Nathaniel lying naked in the back seat of Saviour’s car. I observed that a pain relief substance had been used to massage his body because I smelt it. I was on my way to work when I saw them.”

Good Samaritans contacted the Child Protection Unit of the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, which informed the Isheri Police Division to investigate the case.

When contacted, Saviour denied torturing his son to death, adding that Nathaniel was fleeing from being disciplined for stealing his customer’s fish when he fell and smashed his head on tiles.

“I didn’t torture my son to death. After I returned from church on Sunday, I got home and realised my customer’s fish had been touched. I asked who touched it and Charles said he was not the one. I asked Nathaniel, but he also denied it. I was going inside my room when Nathaniel thought I wanted to get a cane and as he attempted to run, he fell and hit his head on the tiles.

“I observed he was behaving strangely around 2am, so I quickly rushed him to a nearby hospital but it was locked. I rushed him to another hospital in Ketu, where he was referred to another hospital, but he died

“I didn’t go into hiding; my mother was sick, and I came home with my other child to see her and tell her what happened. I wanted to return to Lagos today but the IPOB stay-at-home order prevented me.” he added.

“Keep extremists at bay” Putin warns

Russian president, Vladimir Putin has told leaders of countries in Asia to keep ‘extremists’ at bay following the Taliban’s takeover of power in Afghanistan.

It’s the first time that Putin is lending his voice to the international dilemma caused by the withdrawal of US forces from the Taliban controlled Afghanistan.

Russia is keen to ensure that the instability in Afghanistan does not spill over into Central Asia, part of the former Soviet Union it regards as its own backyard.

Addressing an online summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) on Monday, August 23, Putin said it was important to keep “Islamist extremists” at bay

The CSTO’s emergency talks on Afghanistan were chaired by Emomali Rahmon, Tajikistan’s president, and attended by the leaders of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan – all former Soviet republics.

The military alliance voiced concerns that ISIL (ISIS) still had a foothold in Afghanistan and remained a threat to the wider region, the Kremlin said.

It added that the six leaders had agreed to coordinate action on the unfolding situation in the country, including in response to any emerging threats.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the group discussed the implications of “another civil war in Afghanistan”, but added: “No one is going to intervene in these events.”

His remarks come after a Taliban spokesman said on Monday that the group had surrounded Panjshir, the only one of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces that has not yet fallen to it.

Several Taliban opponents have gathered in the area, which lies north of the capital, Kabul. They include Amrullah Saleh, vice president of the now-toppled government who claims to be the acting president, and Ahmad Massoud, son of the slain commander of the anti-Taliban Northern Alliance coalition that partnered with the United States to drive the group from power in 2001.

Putin had earlier raised his concerns regarding the situation in Afghanistan, warning last week that a “collapse” in the security situation could see “terrorists” entering neighbouring states “under the guise of refugees”.

“Our Western partners are persistently raising the question of placing refugees in Central Asian countries before obtaining visas to the United States or other countries,” he told a meeting of officials of Russia’s ruling United Russia party on Sunday.

“But who is among these refugees? How can we know?”

Putin estimated that “hundreds, even hundreds of thousands, or maybe even millions” of people might want to flee Afghanistan, where Afghans and foreigners continue to descend on Kabul’s International Airport in desperate bids to flee the Taliban’s takeover.

Meanwhile, hundreds have fled to Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, which share borders with Afghanistan.

Arsenal midfielder, Willian set to leave Arsenal after receiving backlash for celebrating Chelsea victory

Arsenal midfielder Willian is set for a return to Brazil with Corinthians.

The two clubs are in talks over a deal for the former Chelsea star, who would return to his homeland on a free transfer and it’s understood discussion is at an advanced stage for the deal to be completed.

Willian signed for Arsenal on free transfer last season, but his move has not gone according to plan as the Gunners struggled under Mikel Arteta last season.

The Gunners are keen to remove his £190,000-per-week salary from the wage bill and would allow the South American to leave the Emirates.

This comes two days after he angered Arsenal fans for ‘liking’ a social media post from his former club Chelsea rcelebrating their 2 – 0 win over his current club.

The Blues had shared a celebration post showing the 2-0 scoreline along with a picture of Marcos Alonso, Cesar Azpilicueta, and Jorginho congratulating goalscorer Reece James.

The caption read: “Imagine not being Chelsea.”

Shortly after, eagle-eyed fans on social media spotted Willian had given the post a ‘like’.

One wrote: “Get rid of these Chelsea double agents from our club!!”

Another said: “Willian liking this on Instagram? And he wonders why the Arsenal fans don’t like him…”

A third added: “Terminate his contract.”

And a Chelsea fan joked: “I used to like William when he was at Chelsea but now I absolutely love him.”

Willian, 33, endured a shocking first season at Arsenal following a move from Chelsea in the summer of 2020, and reports have linked him with a move away from the club before the summer transfer window closes.

Taliban Soldiers Flogs Young Afghans For Wearing Western Jeans and Listening to Music

A group of young Afghans have said they were flogged by Taliban soldiers for the crime of wearing jeans.

In a post widely shared on Facebook, an Afghan youth said they were “walking with friends in Kabul,” when they encountered a group of Taliban soldiers who accused them of disrespecting Islam.

Two of the friends escaped, the youth said, but the others were beaten, whipped on their necks and threatened at gunpoint.

According to a local newspaper, Etilaatroz, the movement was still deciding on the dress code for men, but reports suggest the Taliban is unwilling to allow ‘westernised’ clothing that deviates from traditional ‘Afghan dress’.

The newspaper added that over the weekend, one of its journalists had also been beaten for not wearing ‘Afghan clothes’ such as full-body gowns, according to a report in the Telegraph.

Under the Taliban’s previous rule in the late 90s, men had to wear traditional robes while girls were forced to wear a burqa from the age of eight.

Meanwhile, recent footage has shown Taliban fighters attacking anyone carrying an Afghan national flag in at least a dozen incidents primarily in the capital Kabul.

It comes after human rights’ group, Amnesty International, revealed that Taliban fighters massacred nine ethnic Hazara men after taking control of the country’s Ghazni province last month.

A Taliban fighter was filmed hitting a young man with the tip of his rifle for playing music on his mobile phone.

The Kabul man was walking on a shopping street in Kabul when the Taliban accosted him, shouting, and hit his neck with a rifle, leaving him reeling in confusion.

The Kabul man is said to have broken the Taliban’s harsh sharia code by playing music.

Taliban beat Kabul man with rifle for playing music on his phone (video)

After hitting the Kabul man, the Taliban militant lifted his rifle to hit him again before another armed Taliban member intervenes and allows the man to continue making his way along the street in the K?rte Naw district.

The video, obtained by Metro UK, shows the clampdown on people’s freedoms since the Taliban took over power in Afghanistan.

The British national, originally from Afghanistan, who supplied the footage, said: “The man was struck just for playing music on his phone.

“The Taliban are bringing in a lot of harsh restrictions, for example if you shave your beard you also risk being tortured and abused.

“While the British forces and the Americans are at the airport the Taliban are not enforcing a lot of the laws but when the international forces go they will apply to every single person.

“I am really scared for my family still in Afghanistan.”

R. Kelly ‘requested for sex from a teen in exchange for an audition,’ Court hears

R. Kelly allegedly ‘pressured’ a former girlfriend into having oral sex with him when she was 17, a court has heard.

The 54-year-old legendary R&B singer’s federal trial for racketeering and sex trafficking charges continued for the fourth day in Brooklyn, New York, on Monday, August 23, with Kelly denying the charges.

The prosecutor says that Kelly allegedly abused 22 victims, but have only filed charges centered around six alleged victims.

On Monday, the second witness, known in Kelly’s indictment as Jane Doe #5, testified in Brooklyn’s Federal District Court as she claimed the pair’s first sexual encounter happened when she thought she was meeting him for an audition.

Unlike the previous week’s accuser Jerhonda Pace, this witness testified under a pseudonym because of privacy concerns, and her real name does not appear in court records.

Jane Doe 5, who is now 23, previously defended the singer publicly as recently as 2019.

But has now made her own accusations of sexual and physical abuse.

She told jurors she had been eager to meet R. Kelly when she was 17 because she hoped the R&B superstar could help launch her career as a musician.

According to Jane Doe 5, when she arrived at Kelly’s hotel for an audition, the singer was interested in only sex.

Jane Doe 5 said that R. Kelly told her that he needed to relieve himself sexually before she began to sing.

‘I was against it — I told him I did not come to please him,’ she said.

‘He continued to persist and told me I didn’t have to do anything, just to take off my clothes.’

As Kelly’s pressure continued, Jane Doe 5, who had told him that she was 18, told jurors that she allowed the entertainer to perform a sex act on her.

He told her that if she agreed, he would allow her to audition and would ‘take care of me for life,’ she testified.

‘I didn’t necessarily care for that. I just wanted to sing.’

In the following months Jane Doe 5 claimed she started to experience severe pain whenever they had sex not knowing she had gotten herpes.

‘I would have discomfort in my pelvis and lower abdomen. It got to the point where I couldn’t even physically walk.’

Prosecutors claim the pain became so bad that Kelly eventually scheduled a doctor’s appointment for Jane Doe 5, at which point she learned that she had contracted vaginal herpes.

Jane Doe 5 claimed Kelly was ‘agitated’ when she revealed her diagnosis and insisted that she could have gotten the disease months before they met, but she told him she had only ever been intimate with him.

‘This man purposely gave me something he knew he had had. That he could have controlled,’ Jane Doe 5 said angrily on the stand, while Kelly reportedly sat emotionless.

Prosecutors say they aim to prove that the Grammy-winning singer ran a criminal scheme in which women and underage girls were recruited to engage in sexual activity with him.

Kelly, was first arrested on sex-related charges in 2002 after a video, allegedly showing him having sex with a 14-year-old girl, was sent to the Chicago Sun-Times, but he was acquitted in 2008.

The trial is occurring before an anonymous jury of seven men and five women.

Even if he is declared not guilty in New York he still faces charges in the states of Illinois, Atlanta and and Minnesota.

Lagos State uses 400 Oxygen cylinders per day for severe COVID-19 cases – Sanwo-Olu Says

Lagos State Governor,  Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has stated that the state government is targeting having a capacity of 1000 oxygen cylinders daily as severe COVID-19 patients in the state currently utilise 400 oxygen cylinders per day since the outbreak of the third wave.

Sanwo-Olu made the revelation on Monday, August 23, at the Lagos House, Ikeja, during a news conference explaining the state’s management of the new wave of COVID-19.

He said that the 400 oxygen cylinders daily was an increase over the 75 cylinders utilised by severe COVID-19 cases, as at the beginning of the third wave of the virus.

Sanwo-Olu said the state government had invested in strengthening the capacity of the Lagos State BioBank to sequence positive cases while increasing the state’s oxygen capacity.

“Sequencing allows us to identify the predominant strains of the COVID-19 virus in our environment and provides us with information on how to better respond to the pandemic.

“In terms of treatment of the more severe cases, let me say a few things specifically about the use of oxygen, which is a vital requirement for the management of the most severe cases.

“We have indeed seen a gradual increase in the uptake of oxygen during this pandemic, from the utilisation of 75 cylinders per day at the beginning of this third wave, to over 400 cylinders per day, currently.

“With our modelling suggesting that we may be requiring even more oxygen supply over the next few weeks, we are exploring several ways of increasing our oxygen capacity, including partnering with the private sector,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu revealed the state had two functioning oxygen plants, at the IDH in Yaba and in Gbagada, adding that the government was looking forward to taking delivery of two additional oxygen plants being built in Lagos State by the Federal Government.

“It is important to note that oxygen supply is free at all public facilities designated for the treatment of COVID-19 in Lagos State.

“We encourage members of the public to report any of our staff soliciting fees for the provision of oxygen, to the office of the Honourable Commissioner for Health, and be assured that appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.

“Managing a pandemic of this nature and scale is not and will never be an easy endeavour.

“It is costly and requires hard work and commitment from a wide range of stakeholders and partners, sacrificing their time and energy and resources on multiple fronts to slow down the virus, and eventually to tame it,” the governor added.

Andrew Cuomo delivers his farewell address after his resignation over sexual harassment allegations

New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo has issued his farewell address to constituents two weeks after announcing his resignation over sexual harassment allegations.

Recall New York attorney general’s office released the findings of an independent investigation into sexual harassment allegations made aginst Cuomo last month. The report found that Cuomo allegedly sexually harassed 11 women.

“Specifically, we find that the Governor sexually harassed a number of current and former New York State employees by, among other things, engaging in unwelcome and nonconsensual touching, as well as making numerous offensive comments of a suggestive and sexual nature that created a hostile work environment for women,” the report by James reads.

Several women including Lindsey Boylan, 36; Anna Ruch, 33; and Charlotte Bennett, 25, have come forward to accuse the governor of unwanted advances.

Cuomo had denied all allegations against him claiming he is innocent but had faced pressure from the Democratic party leadership and president Joe Biden to resign.

In his farewell speech on Monday, he questioned the fairness of an investigation by State Attorney General Letitia James that found he sexually harassed multiple women, including current and former state employees.

“Let me say now that when government politicizes allegations and the headlines condemn without facts, you undermine the justice system and that doesn’t serve women and it doesn’t serve men or society,” Cuomo said. “I understand that there are moments of intense political pressure and media frenzy that cause a rush to judgment, but that is not right. It’s not fair or sustainable. Facts still matter.”

He went on to criticize James’ 168-page report — which included claims from 11 women, including one he allegedly retaliated against — comparing it to a firecracker that causes a stampede.

“The attorney general’s report was designed to be a political firecracker on an explosive topic and it worked. There was a political and media stampede but the truth will (come) out in time. Of that I am confident,” Cuomo said.

Cuomo said his resignation takes effect at 11:59 p.m. Monday and New York state Lt. Gov. Kathleen Hochul will succeed him as governor.

A teen girl in Louisiana and two others were shot dead while filming a viral crate challenge video on social media.

The crate challenge has become a viral challenge, with a number of people trying it and posting their result on social media.

At about 5:30pm on Sunday, while some young people were filming their crate challenge outside Linwood Public Charter School in Shreveport, Louisiana, shooting erupted.

19-year-old Paris King was among the victims killed while filming the milk crate challenge video.

Video footage shows a man attempting to climb a milk crate pyramid just as gunfire breaks out.

“Get my gun, get my gun!” one man shouted. Another man shouted “Where my baby?” It is unclear if the man doing the crate challenge survived the shooting.

Initial reports were that two people were shot outside the school. First responders found Paris King shot dead in the backseat of a car at the scene.

A police spokesman told NewsWeek that a man tried to drive away after the shooting but stopped when he realized King was shot in the back seat.

‘Eat mayonnaise instead of margarine’ – health expert urges

Studies have shown that the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases is projected to conservatively account for 30% of all deaths in Nigeria. In the last decade, we have seen a rise of fried and fast food consumption especially in urban areas, proportionately contributing to increase in cholesterol levels. While many have chosen to lead an unhealthy lifestyle with their food choices, others can’t be faulted as the increased poverty level in the country has forced many into a non-mutual relationship with malnutrition.

However, when you consider the numerous benefits that healthy food choices provide us, and understand the gravity of the statement, “you are what you eat”, you might have a change of attitude towards your food choices and consider adding healthy varieties to your diet profile to reduce consumption of unhealthy options.

Let’s start with the basics. Have you considered the fact that some of the complimentary spreads you consume with your popular staple food- bread, are unhealthy and responsible for increasing cardiovascular challenges, contributing to obesity and diabetes, with attendant complications of increased stroke, heart failure and ischemic heart disease?

Undoubtedly, spreads are an important part of our diet and for a fact many have discovered that they can’t do without popular spreads like margarine, butter and mayonnaise with their staple foods. However, consumers might be ignorant of the fact that the trans-fats contained in margarine increases bad cholesterol (i.e. low-density lipoprotein and triglycerides) while reducing the good cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein). As a result, there has been an increase in incidences of atherosclerosis and overall cardiovascular risk of individuals.

Also, the leading ingredient in margarine – palm oil has been said to pose high health risks if consumed regularly and in high amounts too. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), some studies link consumption of palm oil to increased ischemic heart disease mortality, raised low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, increased risk of cardiovascular disease and other adverse conditions.

Contrary to this, unsaturated fats, as seen in spreads like mayonnaise, increase good cholesterol levels, thereby reducing the risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular risk.
As a medically favored healthy spread, mayonnaise is largely made up of soybean oil, with unsaturated fats that help to control cholesterol levels and improve  skin and vision; vitamin E, which acts as a powerful antioxidant, protecting the skin against harmful free radicals; as well as omega 3 fatty acids that help cell membranes, including the quite delicate and dangerous areas of the eyes and skin.  Mayonnaise is made from eggs, which are a good source of protein such as homocysteine and vitamins (Vitamin A, C, selenium). It is particularly important for the growing and middle-aged population, as it helps with muscle and bone development, brain, immune system and vision. It is also beneficial for the elderly population as nutrition becomes a challenge when persons age due to a reduction in food choices.

Beyond the nutritious composition of mayonnaise, its versatility makes it highly desirable. The healthy spread can be used in multiple ways – as a dip, a spread over sandwiches, bread or other snacks, and as dressing for salads. Even more interestingly, a number of recipes can be made out of the combination of mayonnaise and other ingredients, which tastes well with chicken wings, bread loaves, salads, fish and other seafood.

Although many other factors, such as lifestyle and genetics, play a role in the development of cardiovascular diseases, heeding your health expert’s advice on healthy food choices, maintaining moderation in food choice selection and focusing on lifestyle changes that are possible to improve overall health and well-being would go a long way in impacting your heart health and overall well-being.
