It’s the main word – [motivated] to do my stuff, to make people happy and my family happy and the fans and myself. I want to put the level even higher.

The battle for estate of late rapper DMX has taken another turn as a lady has come foward, claiming to be the child of the late hip-hop star.
Page Six reported that a Georgia woman named Raven Barmer-Simmons contacted DMX’s other adult children in the past few weeks. She and the fellow 14 alleged children of the late rapper will all undergo a DNA test to confirm their paternity.
If she is indeed one of DMX’s kids, she could be the 15th. A battle is already shaping up over who gets what as assets get divided. A judge appointed 3 of DMX’s sons, Xavier, Tacoma and Sean as temporary administrators, but that’s clearly not sitting well with everyone.
The late rapper’s fiancée Desiree Lindstrom, who is the mother to his 5-year-old son, Exodus, had applied to the court to be legally declared his “common-law wife,” but the judge shut her down.
Lindstrom had also petitioned the court to be an administrator of his estate estimated to be worth around $1 million, as had the late rapper’s older daughters, Sasha Simmons and Jada Oden.
Commenting on the development, Herbert Nass, the trusts and and estates attorney for Xavier, Tacoma and Sean Simmons said;
“Judge Blackwood appointed Xavier, Tacoma and Sean as the temporary administrators of the estate.
“The next big thing is to determine who are the rightful heirs. The estate is going to ask everyone to prove paternity through DNA testing. All the legal children of DMX will be entitled to an equal share of his estate.
“We need to collect assets and pay debts and administration costs. We don’t have a lot of information about his income streams, but now the temporary administrators have been appointed, we can ask questions and expect answers.”
Despite selling more than 74 million albums and building a successful career in both music and movies, DMX left behind an estate estimated to be in debt.
Nass added that lack of a will from DMX had further complicated setting up the estate. He said;
“I want to point out that when a person dies without a will, a surety bond needs to be posted, and obtaining a bond is difficult.
“We spoke to a number of surety companies and it was only Thomas Whittemore at Executive Bond who was able to get it done.”
DMX died of an OD which triggered a heart attack back in April. He was 50.
The lead counsel to the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, Ifeanyi Ejiofor has described claims by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), as false.
In a Facebook post, the lawyer noted that spreading false narratives against the IPOB leader “will fail”.
The Federal Government had blamed Kanu for the murder of Dr Chike Akunyili, the husband of a former Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, the late Prof Dora Akunyili.
The government further accused him of being responsible for the murder of a former presidential aide, Ahmad Gulak, and over 184 others in the South-East.
This is according to a committee set up by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to investigate Kanu, who is standing trial for treasonable felony.
The 24-member comprised members from the Federal Ministry of Justice, the Federal Ministry of Information, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, the National Intelligence Agency and the Defence Intelligence Agency.
The committee, headed by Malami, said consequent upon the instigating directives of Kanu, members of IPOB and the Eastern Security Network carried out massive attacks on democratic institutions, especially facilities of the Independent National Electoral Commission to hamper democratic process in Nigeria.
It said the attacks, carried out between October 2020 and June 2021, led to the killing of 175 security agents.
But Ejiofor said the legal team were prepared to prove all the allegations wrong.
He posted, “There is no cause for alarm umuchukwu Okike Abiama. Do not panic at all.
“I may not wish to dignify their trending falsehood by directly responding to it but it is a bad strategy, already dead on arrival. We saw it coming!
“After a robust outing of 21st October, and strong objection raised to the empty charge, the narratives changed.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has accused the federal government through the various security agencies of killing over 20,000 of its members.
IPOB added that the government is the one sponsoring the activities of unknown gunmen but trying to blame the group so as to find an excuse against it.
It also denied any form of involvement in sponsoring the #EndSARS protests which rocked Nigeria last year, noting that they’ve also been victims of government ineptitudes.
These, the proscribed group through a statement by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful said in response to the allegation by the federal government that it is responsible for the attacks on 164 police stations as well as the killing of 175 security operatives in the southeast region.
Anamedoonline.ng recalls the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami had on Friday during a press conference in Abuja, blamed IPOB for the killings in the southeast of both civilians and security operatives.
But reacting in a statement, IPOB said the federal government should rather prove its allegations in court rather than opt for a media trial.
“Why not wait for us at the law court instead of resorting to media trial. That shows he has no case to prove against IPOB,” Powerful said.
“To put the records straight, IPOB remains a peaceful movement, and was never involved in such barbarities Malami was linking IPOB with,” he added.
“Instead of killing security agents, IPOB members have been the victims of the extra-judicial killings by the wicked Nigeria security operatives as no fewer than 20,000 of our members have been murdered in cold blood by the Nigeria security agencies.
“It is not controvertible that innocent IPOB members and Biafran youths have been wasted at different times by the Nigeria security agencies. This genocide against IPOB is still ongoing, yet they want to suddenly change the narrative.
“We have always said it that the unknown gunmen were a creation of the Nigeria security agencies to implicate and demonise IPOB. We have no hand in the killings in parts of Biafra land. The federal government which is sponsoring the killings is desperately looking for excuses to implicate IPOB and nail our leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU who they renditioned from Kenya. Our leader is innocent of all the concocted allegations and lies vomited by Malami against him.
“It is clear to all and sundry that IPOB was not involved in the EndSARS protests. Nigerian youths who were fed up with the evil in Nigeria vented their anger during the #EndSARS protests which took place simultaneously in different parts of the country.
“IPOB could not have been the ones behind the protest which was a spontaneous reaction of dissatisfied youths against the maladministration in the country.
“Malami should stop wasting his time and just fix a date for the Biafra referendum where our people can decide which country they want to stay. Failure to do so is to their peril.

New photos have been shared of proud parents Halima Cisse and Kader Arby, five months after they gave birth to a world record nine babies at the Ain Borja clinic in Casablanca, Morocco.
The stunning delivery which happened on May 5, broke the current world record set by Nadya Suleman in 2009, who gave birth to eight babies that survived .
Now, five months later, Ms Cisse says the babies who were born prematurely are getting bigger and healthier and are almost ready to go home to Mali.
Speaking from hospital in Morocco, the 26-year-old said: ‘All of them are getting on very well, and are a joy to look after. They are getting stronger every day and it may well be they are allowed to leave medical care soon’
The four boys are called Mohammed, Bah, El Hadji and Oumar while the five girls are named Hawa, Adama, Fatouma, Oumou and Kadidia .
This is the first time that the the world record-breaking nine miracle babies born to the same mother are pictured all together for the first time.
Ms Cisse’s nine kids, who were conceived naturally, each weighed between 500gm to 1kg when they were born and had to remain in incubators in the clinic’s intensive care unit where they were looked after round the clock by a team of doctors and nurses for the first few months of their lives.
‘Giving birth to one child is hard enough but having nine is unimaginable,’ said Halima. ‘It’s astonishing the amount of work that is involved in looking after them. I’m grateful to the medical team that are doing all the hard work and the Government of Mali for funding this.’
Halima gave birth by Caesarean section, accompanied by her sister, Aisha, while her husband initially stayed behind at their home in Timbuktu, Mali.
Describing the birth, Halima said: ‘As the babies were coming out, there were so many questions going through my mind. I was very aware of what was going on and it seemed as if there was an endless stream of babies coming out of me.
She added: ‘My sister was holding my hand but all I could think about was how would I look after them and who was going to help me?’
The care bill so far is approaching the equivalent of £1million, and most of it has been funded by the Malian government.

At least 888 people were killed in violent attacks carried out in various parts of Kaduna State in the last nine months.
This was captured in a quarterly security report presented by the state government. From the report, a total number of 343 people were killed by bandits between July and September this year alone.
2,553 people were kidnapped by bandits in various communities across the state from January to September 2021.
Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home affairs, Samuel Aruwan who presented the report during an enlarged security meeting on Wednesday October 20, attributed the deaths to kidnappings, banditry, communal clashes, violent attacks and reprisals that cut across all ethnic and religious groups in the State.
Governor Nasir El-Rufai sympathized with the victims of the attacks and ordered the immediate compensation of surviving victims and relatives of the deceased.
Executive chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Muhammad Nami has disclosed the agency’s plan to make the informal sector contribute to building a modern society.
Nami who received a delegation of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) led by Chris Isiguzo, the National President, in his office, in Abuja, said their proposed road infrastructure tax would provide the government with adequate funding for road construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance.
In the statement released by the FIRS’ chairman’s media aide Johannes Wojuola, it was also stated that the scheme would also provide the needed security for roads in the country.
He said;
“The only way to make the informal sector contribute to building a modern society is by making them pay when they use the roads.
“That is why we are proposing that government should consider introducing Road Infrastructure Tax in Nigeria.
“In many jurisdictions, road users pay for the use of road infrastructure as such it shouldn’t be seen as an additional burden on our citizens because it has the potential of making life better for all of us.
“Without the tax that you pay, governments at all levels would not be able to fulfil their mandate to the electorates. Tax money also helps to ensure the roads you travel are safe and always in good condition.”
Nami who averred that the economy presently relies heavily on non-oil revenues to discharge its statutory responsibility of paying salaries and providing social amenities to the citizenry, added that despite sharp practices by some companies who were in the habit of evading taxes, by shifting their capital and profits to tax havens, as well as low revenue from Petroleum Profit Tax, due to the shortfall in crude oil production among other factors, the FIRS has been putting forward critical reforms that have been yielding positive impact on the Service’s operations.
He added;
“Without the tax that you pay, governments at all levels would not be able to fulfil their mandate to the electorates. Tax money also helps to ensure the roads you travel are safe and always in good condition.
“Adopting technology in tax administration is crucial in improving domestic revenue mobilisation in view of dwindling oil prices in order to avoid falling into a debt crisis. It is against this backdrop that the TaxPro-Max became the channel for filing Naira-denominated tax returns effectively from 7th June 2021.
“The TaxPro-Max enables seamless registration, filing of returns, payment of taxes and automatic credit of withholding tax as well as other credits to the Taxpayer’s accounts, among other features. The technology also provides a single-view to Taxpayers for all transactions with the Service.”
Nami also said that the FIRS collected N4.2 trillion between January and September 2021 as VAT, following the “successful facilitation of ISO 27001:2013 Certification of the FIRS’ Exchange of Information Centre and the achievement of 114.66 percent of the VAT collection target in the first half of the year”.
Elon Musk, the world’s most renowned entrepreneur and the CEO of two of the world’s largest companies, SpaceX and Tesla, is set to become the world’s first trillionaire.
According to The Guardian, analysts at Morgan Stanley have predicted that Musk, 50, could become the world’s first trillionaire, largely thanks to his aerospace company SpaceX.
The analysis estimates that his aerospace company SpaceX will push Musk over the trillion-dollar mark in the coming years.
“More than one client has told us that if Elon Musk were to become the first trillionaire… it won’t be because of Tesla,” analyst Adam Jones told the newspaper, referring to the electric car company behind the majority of his wealth to date.
“Others have said SpaceX may eventually be the most highly valued company in the world in any industry,” Jones added.
Though humans have yet to reach Mars, one of Musk’s goals for the company via SpaceX’s Starship, the advanced launch system already has high expectations following the success of SpaceX’s Crew Dragon.
“As one client put it, ‘talking about space before Starship is like talking about the internet before Google,’ ” explains Jones.
Earlier this month, the valuation of SpaceX increased to $100.3 billion, up from $74 billion in February, according to CNBC.
The valuation made SpaceX, which Musk owns about 48% of the corporation, the world’s second-biggest privately held company, The Guardian states.

Young men who receive the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine are at higher risk of developing a rare case of heart inflammation than those who received the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, according to researchers
Researchers on Thursday October 21, revealed the data at a meeting of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) advisory committee to discuss approval of booster doses for the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson shot.
2A CDC official presented data that showed young men under the age of 30 who receive the Moderna vaccine have experienced a slight uptick in myocarditis and pericarditis cases.
This is the first data that shows an increased risk in one of the vaccines when compared to the other.
However, officials stand by the safety of the vaccine, and still recommend it for use as the benefits heavily outweigh the potential risks.
Currently, Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Sweden have restricted use of the Moderna jab among young people.
The CDC found that 36.8 out of every one million men aged 18 to 24 who received the Pfizer vaccine, and 10.8 of every one million aged 25 to 29, developed myocarditis.
Moderna recipients had higher rates of the condition, with 38.5 out of every one million males aged 18 to 24, and 17.2 of every million aged 25 to 29, developing the condition.
After age 29, the rate of heart inflammation as a vaccine side-effect significantly falls off.
Researchers at the CDC also calculated the total number of excess cases Moderna recipients suffered compared to Pfizer recipients.
They found that for every one million men aged 18 to 39 who received the Moderna vaccine, there were 21.5 more cases of myocarditis with pericarditis than there were in every one million who received the Pfizer jab.
For cases without pericarditis, there were 19.1 excess cases for every one million vaccine recipients.
The officials note that there was no difference in the severity of the myocarditis cases, though.
However, it was stated that the Moderna vaccine is still considered safe and effective despite this data as the cases are still few and far between with less than 0.01 percent of people who get the shot developing myocarditis.
Inter Milan CEO, Beppe Marotta has claimed Romelu Lukaku only joined Chelsea for money after he left the Italian club.
Lukaku fired Inter to a first Serie A title in 11 years with 24 goals last season but left the club for Chelsea in August for a club-record £97.5million.
According to reports, Lukaku is Chelsea’s top earner by a mile, earning £450,000 per week including bonuses and dwarfing the club’s next highest earner N’golo Kante, who is on £290,000 per week.
It’s a huge increase on the money Lukaku was on at San Siro, where he pocketed £142,000 weekly.
Inter chief Marotta believe the huge increase was the reason Lukaku left the Italian champions to return to Stamford Bridge.
‘Lukaku left to double his salary, in Italy these figures can’t exist,’ Marotta told Italian newspaper Il Corriere della Sera.
While Inter cashed in on Lukaku, their financial troubles meant they could not re-invest the money in the squad.
According to Marotta, they found a perfectly good replacement for the Belgian in Edin Dzeko, who joined on a free transfer from Roma.
‘Lukaku was sold for €115m and we bought Dzeko for free. On the pitch, there isn’t much difference,’ Marotta added.
A woman has died in a hospital after she was rushed there with severe burns.
The woman, named Ebere, was set allegedly ablaze by her husband, according to a friend of hers mourning her on Facebook.
The friend said Ebere had travelled for her mother’s burial preparations and returned home without her luggage. When her husband asked why, she explained that she plans to travel again soon so didn’t think it necessary to bring her belongings back with her.
This reportedly angered the husband and he poured petrol and set her on fire at their home in Lagos.
Ebere’s injuries were so severe that she didn’t survive.
The husband was also burnt by the fire he allegedly started and he’s receiving treatment in a hospital in Lagos, according to the friend of the deceased.
Ebere’s death has started a conversation about domestic violence on Facebook.
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has alerted Nigerian telecom consumers of the existence of new, high-risk and extremely-damaging Malware called Flubot.
Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde, Director of Public Affairs at NCC said information received from the Nigeria Computer Emergency Response Team (ngCERT), reveals that the Flubot “targets Androids with fake security updates and App installations”.
Adinde further disclosed that Flubot “impersonates Android mobile banking applications to draw fake web view on targeted applications” and its goal transcends stealing personal data and essentially targets stealing of credit card details or online banking credentials.
FluBot is circulated through Short Message Service (SMS) and can snoop “on incoming notifications, initiate calls, read or write SMSes, and transmit the victim’s contact list to its control centre.”
It also attacks Android devices by pretending to be “FedEx, DHL, Correos, and Chrome applications” and compels unsuspecting users to alter the accessibility configurations on their devices in order to maintain continuous presence on devices.
The NCC also listed different ways one can protect themselves from the attack. The statement read;

Consequently, it secures admittance into the device through SMS and proceeds to transmit similar messages to other contacts that may be on the device it has attacked enticing them into downloading the fake app.
It suffices to say that, when Flubot infects a device, it can result in incalculable financial losses. Additionally, the malware creates a backdoor which grants access to the user’s device, thus enabling the invader or attacker to perform other criminal actions, including launching other variants of malware.
In view of this discovery and understanding of the process by which this malware operates, and in order to protect millions of telecom consumers and prevent criminal forces, irrespective of location, from using telecom platforms to perpetrate fraud and irredeemable damages, the NCC hereby wishes to reiterate the advisory of ngCERT as follows:
1. Do not click on the link if you receive a suspicious text message, and do not install any app or security update the page asks you to install.
2. Use updated antivirus software that detects and prevents malware infections.
3. Apply critical patches to the system and application.
4. Use strong passwords and enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) over logins.
5. Back-up your data regularly.
6. If you have been affected by this campaign, you should reset your device to factory mode as soon as possible. This will delete any data on your phone, including personal data.
7. Do not restore from backups created after installing the app. You may contact ngCERT on *[email protected]* for technical assistance.
8. You will also need to change the passwords to all of your online accounts, with urgency, around your online bank accounts.
9. If you have concerns that your accounts may have been accessed by unauthorised people, contact your bank immediately.
As the Commission intensifies efforts in ensuring increased broadband access, enabling telecoms consumers to carry out their legitimate activities more efficiently and effectively online, it also restates its commitment to empowering consumers through useful information and education to protect them from falling victims of all kinds of cyber-attack while online. This explains the rationale for the launch of telecom sector’s Centre for Computer Security Incident Response by NCC on 30th September, 2021.
Kenyan police have launched a manhunt for a suspect identified as Patrick Mumo Ngenge, who raped his 90-year-old mother on October 20, 2021, in Mbooni-Makueni county before going into hiding.
The octogenarian was found in her bedroom by her eldest son writhing in pain and complaining of waist pains.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations said the 45-year-old suspect invaded his mother’s house at 8:00 pm before committing the heinous act.
The DCI said in a statement;
“She tearfully narrated her harrowing ordeal in the hands of her younger son Patrick Mumo, 45, who forced his way into her bedroom at around 8:00 pm as she slept and subjected her to the beastly act.”
The lady was immediately rushed to Kisau Sub-county hospital in serious condition, where she is currently undergoing treatment. Doctors at the medical facility have since confirmed that indeed she had been raped.
Patrick Mumo Ngenge has been asked to turn himself in as the law will eventually catch up with him.
A Florida man was so angry that a cat entered into his home that he grabbed a gun and fatally shot his neighbor, police authorities have revealed.
Cliffton Bliss Jr., 58, is accused of killing the cat’s owner moments after the animal went into his property Wednesday, October 20 in the city of Umatilla.
Bliss picked up his firearm and first threatened to shoot the cat, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
The neighbor, James Taylor Jr., got into an argument with the suspect and asked him not to shoot the animal, but Bliss turned the weapon and instead shot the 41-year-old man in the chest, authorities said.
Bliss was arrested at the scene and charged with second-degree homicide. He is being held without bond at the Marion County Jail.
On Thursday, October 21, the suspect told his wife and witnesses at the scene that he fired his gun after being assaulted, according to an incident report obtained by the Orlando Sentinel. But an eyewitness reportedly told detectives that the pair had no physical contact before the killing.
The US suffered a setback in the arms race with China and Russia to develop hypersonic weapons after its latest test failed, the Pentagon said in a statement Thursday, October 21.
A booster stack, which is the rocket used to accelerate the missile to hypersonic speeds, failed and the test of the projectile, the hypersonic glide body, could not move, the Pentagon statement said.
Because the rocket failed the Pentagon was not able to test the hypersonic glide body, which is the key component needed in hypersonic weapon development.
The missile test took place Thursday October 21, at the Pacific Spaceport Complex in Kodiak, Alaska and comes weeks after Russia and China successfully tested their hypersonic missiles.
“Experiments and tests — both successful and unsuccessful — are the backbone of developing highly complex, critical technologies at tremendous speed, as the department is doing with hypersonic technologies,” said Lt. Cdr. Tim Gorman, a Pentagon spokesman, in a statement.
Nevertheless, the Pentagon insists it remains on track to deliver offensive hypersonic weapons in the early 2020s, a timeline that seems more urgent with the advances in hypersonic technology shown off by the Russians and Chinese.
“This flight test is part of an ongoing series of flight tests as we continue to develop this technology,” Gorman said.
The failure is another blow to the US effort following a failed test in April.
Traveling at Mach 5 or faster, hypersonic weapons are difficult to detect, posing a challenge to missile defense systems. Hypersonic missiles can travel at a far lower trajectory than high-arcing ballistic missiles, which can be easily detectable. Hypersonics can also maneuver and evade missile defense systems.
A Nigerian couple, Louis and Lucy Agada, have welcomed set of quadruplets after eleven years of childlessness.
Lucy, who got married to Louis on April 17, 2010, gave birth to the children, two boys and two girls on Wednesday night, October 20, 2021.
Friends, family members and well wishers have taken to Facebook to celebrate with the couple. Louis’ twin brother, Luke Agada shared the good news on Thursday, October 21.

The federal government has blamed the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its military wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), for some violent attacks in Lagos and other parts of the country during the October 2020 #EndSARS protest.
Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami who spoke at a press conference today October 22, alleged that ESN was set up by Nnamdi Kanu to carry out “subversive activities” against Nigeria, and the arrested IPOB leader instigated the large scale destruction of public assets during the #EndSARS protest particularly in Lagos, as well as the South-east and South-south regions.
Malami said;
“The EndSARS protests of October 2020 played into the sinister plans of Nnamdi Kanu, whereby he seized the protests through subversive and inciting online broadcasts and actively commanded and directed attacks on security personnel and facilities.
“There were several IPOB/ESN attacks and destruction (arson) of public and private properties during the EndSARS and Biafra agitations across the country, especially in the South-East and South-South regions, notably the Palace of the Oba of Lagos where twelve (12) flats were completely looted and vandalized.
“Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, City Hall Race Course, First Bank Branch Lagos, Lagos State Public Works Commission, Nigeria Port Authority (NPA), Marina, Lagos, High Court Igbosere, Lagos, were all burnt, amongst other heinous crimes committed.
“The country home of the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, was burnt, over one hundred and fifty (150) buses burnt at the Lagos Bus Terminal, Sen. Ndoma Egba’s home in Calabar Municipal, Cross River State, was completely looted and vandalised.
“As a result of these broadcasts, members of IPOB attacked and killed security personnel and burnt down police stations, correctional centers, INEC offices, bus terminals, the Palace of Oba of Lagos, banks, hospitals, shopping malls and vehicles, amongst others.”
Malami further stated that the aim of the press conference was to intimate Nigerians on the findings of a presidential ad-hoc committee which was set up to investigate causes of widespread violence in Nigeria’s South-east region, following Mr Kanu’s re-arrest and repatriation from Kenya to Nigeria last June.
The AGF also claimed that some prominent Nigerians like All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Ahmed Gulak, Obi 1 of Okwudor autonomous community, Eze E. Anayochukwu Durueburuo and Eze Sampson Osunwa of Ihebineowerre autonomous community as well as Chike Akunyili, widower of the late Dora Akunyili were all killed on orders of Kanu.
The federal government has accused proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) of attacking 164 police stations across the country
Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami disclosed this at a press conference on Friday October 22.
Malami also alleged that members of the proscribed group killed 175 security operatives
Nigerian banks have reportedly issued directives mandating staff to get vaccinated against COVID-19, or post negative covid-19 results every two weeks.
According to a report by TheCable, six banks shared circulars to their workers asking them to get vaccinated or conduct COVID-19 tests on a bi-weekly basis at personal cost.
This comes after the federal government mandated civil servants to get vaccinated against COVID-19 last week.
Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), said unvaccinated workers would be barred from entering their places of work from December 1, 2021.
“Those are the options. If you are not taking the vaccine, then you’ll have to show your test result every two weeks,” an bank staff said to TheCable .
Since February 2020, Nigeria has recorded more than 200,000 cases and almost 3,000 deaths due to covid-19.
Mahjabin Hakimi, a member of the Afghanistan women’s youth volleyball team, has reportedly been beheaded by the Taliban in the country’s capital of Kabul because of its objection to women’s sport.
After the murder of Hakimi, the group is then alleged to have posted pictures of her decapitating head on social media, possibly as a brutal warning to others.
Conflicting reports have emerged about the death of the young girl.
A death certificate that emerged showed she had possibly died a week before the Taliban took control following the retreat by the US and its allies from the country.
Other claims state that the young athlete took her own life.
A leaked photo of her body showed wounds to her neck, but it wasn’t clear if a blade or a ligature point had caused this.
However, the Afghanistan based Payk Investigative Journalism Centre said that its sources had confirmed that Mahjabin had been “beheaded by the Taliban in Kabul”.
In an interview with the Persian Independent, one of Hakimi’s coaches – speaking under a pseudonym – said that she was killed in early October but that it had been kept a secret as her family had been threatened not to talk about it.
Dozens of female athletes have fled Afghanistan in fear of their lives since the Taliban swept back into power in August as the preexisting Afghan Government collapsed.
The Taliban has banned all sports for females since taking power, and have yet to allow girls to return to school for an education.
Only two of the women’s youth volleyball team’s players managed to escape Afghanistan, it has been reported.
“All the players of the volleyball team and the rest of the women athletes are in a bad situation and in despair and fear,” the coach said, according to the Persian Independent.
“Everyone has been forced to flee and live in unknown places.”
Hakimi played for Kabul Municipality Volleyball Club before the Taliban seized power.
Afghanistan’s Chef de Mission at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, Arian Sadiqi, fears for the lives of 12 Para athletes who are still stuck in the country and is worried that those who did not escape when the Taliban seized power have been forgotten about.
“If these girls don’t get help soon, they may fall into the hands of the Taliban and may get killed,” Sadiqi said, according to Insidethegames.
Athletes Noorja Najafi, Rahela Haidari, Nargis Masomi and Benafsha Najafi have all called on European countries to help evacuate them from Afghanistan.
“The right to education has been taken away from us,” said Najafi in a video.
“We cannot go to university safely or study safely because we are disabled,” Najafi continues in the video.
“Without wearing a hijab, we cannot walk or go out.
“We are very worried that our lives are in danger.”
The women’s national volleyball team has petitioned for foreign organisations to help get them out of the country, but have so far been unsuccessful.
“Our players who were living in the provinces had to leave and live in other places,” Zahra Fayazi, a coach for Afghanistan, told the BBC in September.
“They even burned their sports equipment to save themselves and their families.
“They didn’t want them to keep anything related to sport.
“They are scared.
“Many of our players who are from provinces were threatened many times by their relatives who are Taliban and Taliban followers.
“The Taliban asked our players’ families to not allow their girls to do sport, otherwise they will be faced with unexpected violence.”
A suspect linked to the murder of Reverend Father Michael Maingi Kyengo from Machakos county in Kenya, has said that he killed the Catholic Priest because he sodomized him.
Michael Muthini said he got to know the Catholic Priest who was killed and buried in a shallow grave in Makima in 2017, during a mass session he participated in at Mbingoni Catholic church.
The accused through his lawyer Kirimi Guantai claimed that before the mass began, the father beckoned and asked to see him after the mass. Muthini claimed that after the mass, he went to see him but the cleric told him that he wanted to talk to him and since he had no time, he gave him his number so they could talk over the phone.
He informed the court that father Kyengo got closer to him, started visiting, texting and calling him on regular basis. The suspect told court that the late father even took the burden of paying his college fees and provided all his basic needs.
Muithini added that while he will call the cleric ”bro”, he will respond by calling him ”My dear” or ”Sweetheart”.
The suspect said their issue began after the father visited his rented house at Gategi in Mbeere South for the first time.
Muthini said;
”In September 2019 the late father called me and informed me that he was at Mwea town and said that he was going to stay at my place overnight as it was late for him to drive for a long distance via a rough road as he was headed to Machakos.”
He disclosed that after they ate dinner, he proceeded to the bathroom to clean it so that the father could take shower.
Muthini claimed that while cleaning the bathroom, the father called him and told him that it was better if they could take some juice first which he had already served in two glasses. The suspect said after drinking the juice and proceeding to the bathroom to continue his cleaning, he began feeling dizzy and fell asleep.
He claimed he regained consciouness around 3:30am with a lot of pain around his anal areas, and a watery discharge around his buttocks.
Muthini told court that he found the late father seated next to him while naked and smiling. Upon realizing that he had allegedly been sodomized, he asked the father why he had done that to him and the deceased told him that he was not hard on him since he was new to such.
He said;
”He went ahead to caress me and told me that he had every right to do whatever he wanted as I had no means of repaying him what he had done for me earlier.”
Muthini said when the father realised that he had become angry, he stood up, dressed, took his briefcase and said when he was at the door;
If I hurt you too much, take the money I put on the table and buy a chemist’s medicine. Let me run to work and we’ll talk
The suspect said he felt disillussioned in living, ashamed to tell anybody and he said he wanted to commit suicide. He also claimed to have called the cleric, threatening to report him to his Parish.
Muthini said the father pleaded with him not to report as it would interfere with his work. He promised to visit him the following week so that they could solve the matter in an amicable way.
The accused informed the court that on October 9, 2019, at around 8;30 pm, the father arrived at his house drunk, telling him that he (Muthini) was poor, only needed his money and have nowhere to run. Muthini said he felt insulted this time round.
He said;
”Instead of asking for forgiveness, he came towards me and started caressing me. When I resisted, he held me by force and that is when we started struggling.”
The suspect also recalled how the cleric allegedly dipped his hand into his briefcase and took out a blue-ish plastic bottle, opened it and told him to calm down since ”they were sharing the same status”.
Muthini said that the late priest struck him and that was when he realised that the priest was going to kill him to erase the evidence. He informed the court that he fell where the panga (machete) was and as the priest was holding his throat, he reached the panga and cut his neck.
The suspect said;
”When I cut him, he released me and I thought he would stand but realised that he was over bleeding and within seconds he stopped breathing. That is when I realised that he was dead.”
Father Michael Kyengo ‘disappeared’ on October 8, 2019, and was found murdered on October 16 and his body buried in a shallow grave in Masamba seasonal river in Makima Mbeere South, Embu county.
Michael Muthini was arrested at Kiboko along Nairobi’s Mombasa road on October 11 by DCI detectives while driving the priest’s car and he led the detectives to where father Kyengo’s body was buried.
The arrest of the suspect consequently led to the arrest of his accomplices Kavivya Mwangangi and Solomon Mutava.
Following the suspect’s testimony, Embu High court judge Lucy Njuguna ordered a victim impact report to be tabled in court on November 8, 2021, before the judgement date is set.
A University lacrosse star died over the weekend after choking during a hot dog eating contest.
Madelyn “Madie” Nicpon, 20, was participating in an off-campus fundraiser last Saturday when she reportedly choked and fell unconscious. The Tufts University student was then rushed to Boston hospital where she tragically died the following day.
Thousands of her classmates gathered on Sunday night to remember the lacrosse player, the university said in a statement.
Students placed candles around her No.2 jerseys at the vigil at the Gantcher Center.
“A native of Suffern, New York, Madie was a biopsychology major, a member of the women’s lacrosse team, and an active member of our community,” the statement read.
“In the face of this painful loss, our hearts go out to Madie’s family and friends.”
“We are beyond heartbroken to share the news of the passing of junior Madie Nicpon — ‘Scooter,’” the Tufts lax team wrote on Instagram. “Scooter was a true friend and teammate. She truly valued her relationships with her teammates and coaches.”
“Her reach was far beyond our team — she was a true connector on campus and touched every single person she met.”
They added, “We love you, Scooter. Keep dancing from above.”
Nicpon had played in several games in her first two years for the Jumbos, and was expected to be a key contributor this season.

Bandits operating between Sokoto and Zamfara states have taken responsibility for the attack on Goronyo Market in Sokoto State, where over 40 villagers were killed, describing it as a reprisal, Daily Trust reported.
Tori Me! had reported that bandits stormed the market last Sunday and opened fire on buyers and sellers leading to the death of 43 people. However, the death toll has since risen to 49.
One of the kingpins, Shehu Rekeb, who is close to both Kachallah Turji and Halilu Sububu, the two notorious warlords in the area, said the attack was carried out to avenge killings of “innocent Fulani” in the area.
We heard those who attacked Goronyo being described as criminals. They were not. The president (Muhammadu Buhari) came out to say so. Those people (of Goronyo) have killed so many people, so they would have to be attacked and killed,” he said.
Citing the killing of some Fulani Muslim worshippers at Unguwar Lalle, Rekeb said,
“When those people (Fulani) were killed, the president did not say anything but he is now coming out to react to this one.”
A resident had on Monday told Daily Trust that, “The recent attack could be a misplaced reprisal by ‘Yan Sakai’ because of the recent killing of 11 herders at Mamande Market in Gwadabawa Local Government Area.

Two Kenyan women have been arrested for stealing a newborn baby boy from a teenage mother and altering the birth notification details.
The two suspects, Judith Ingahitzu, 47 and her aunt, Florence Musimbi Abulu, 62, were on Monday morning, October 18, arraigned at Webuye Law Courts, where they initially pleaded guilty of two counts including Acts that Promote Child Trafficking (attracts a 30-year jail-term or 30 million fine), but later on in the afternoon changed through a lawyer.
According to a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation, the duo were arrested on Friday 15th October, 2021 by DCI’s Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit (AHT&CPU) detectives, acting on a tip-off reported anonymously through the DCI hotline.
“The anonymous call from a curious member of the public, reported of a miraculous baby boy born to a village woman who, unlike the biblical Mary mother of Jesus, was never seen carrying a pregnancy,” the statement read.
“Equally awed, detectives manning the DCI hotline centre alerted their ever ready AHT&CPU counterparts, who immediately swung into action by dispatching a team to Kakamega’s Matete area on a fact finding mission on October 14
“A day of scrupulous search in Matete area bore fruits when the 1st suspect (Judith) was spotted at her home lulling “her” bundle of joy
“The mother of four older children could hardly stand the presence of her unwelcome visitors, but her husband, with whom she has had no child over their marriage period, invited the detectives’ probe into the case
“In what would lead to the unearthing of an underworld of dreaded child traffickers who preyed on voiceless young mothers, Judith’s husband revealed that he hadn’t been aware his wife was pregnant, until she appeared holding a day-old toddler that she wouldn’t breastfeed
“Further, the birth notification provided by Judith had been altered using a white out, and the parents’ names entered by hand using a ball pen
“Persistent that she had been pregnant and that her ample proportions concealed it, detectives took the suspect to Webuye County Hospital for forensic medical examination, where three different tests conducted gave negative results of her having been pregnant
DNA tests run at a different hospital in Kisumu equally contradicted the suspect’s allegations. Cornered like a terrified rat, Judith had opened up to detectives, revealing a second suspect, her aunt Florence.
Detectives furthered their investigations to Kikuya village in Vihiga, where the 67-year-old was also arrested.
Thorough interrogations on the duo established that Judith had called Florence earlier in the year, asking her to find ways of getting her a baby
Florence, who was privy to a case of an expectant 17-year-old girl living with her grandmother at Vihiga’s Kaimosi area, offered to help
She (Florence) had then approached the girl with a job offer as a househelp in Nairobi, which the helpless minor accepted at once
Connecting her to a family living in Kajiado’s Ongata Rongai area, Florence warned the young girl not to reveal to any of her relatives that she was expectant, before instructing the girl’s employer to release the girl back to her as soon as she was due for labor
As agreed, the orphan girl had been picked by Florence 10 days to her delivery date, who stayed with her for the period before taking her to Vihiga Health Centre on Sept 8 where Judith appeared, tendering her till she gave birth to a baby boy
It was in the process of collecting the documents on behalf of the young mother that Judith, who was hell-bent to steal the baby, altered the documents before disappearing with the baby as her aunt took the girl in circles as to the whereabouts of the born child
“Threatened with dire consequences if she told anyone, the girl has had to live with the pain, until our detectives struck on Friday. Over the weekend, the girl was united with her baby boy, before the two were taken for medical care and rescued to safety,” the statement read.
Bond ruling will be made on Monday 25th October, 2021.
Meanwhile, further investigations are ongoing including pursuit of the man behind the girl’s pregnancy.

During the morning show, Thomas complained about not being allowed to see his grandchildren and branded the situation “silly” and “childish”.
He then said that he will keep speaking out until his daughter contacts him.

R. Kelly has been ordered to stand trial in Chicago on child pornography and obstruction of justice charges next summer.
On Wednesday October 20, a federal judge ordered the R&B singer to stand trial in Chicago on child pornography and obstruction of justice charges next year after the scheduled sentencing for his conviction in an earlier sex trafficking trial in New York.
U.S. District Judge Harry Leinenweber appeared to have wanted the trial in Chicago to begin earlier, but he set it for Aug. 1 after one of Kelly’s attorneys, Steven Greenberg, said that he and another of Kelly’s attorneys will be in court on other cases through July.
Kelly, who remains jailed in New York, was listening to the hearing on a conference call but he did not speak.
His sentencing for the federal trial in New York, where Kelly was found guilty of all nine counts of sex trafficking and racketeering, is scheduled for May 4 as he faces up to life in prison.
Kelly, who was born Robert Sylvester Kelly, is also facing four separate indictments alleging sexual abuse in state court in Chicago and a child prostitution charge in Minnesota.
Experts have said there is a possibility that prosecutors could drop the charges in state court if he receives a lengthy prison sentence in New York. But there is virtually no chance that the federal charges in Chicago will be dropped
Kelly has been jailed without bail since 2019.
After being convicted in September in federal court in New York on charges that date back decades and stem from six complaining witnesses, Kelly’s other lawyer Deveraux Cannick said he was disappointed by the verdict.
“I think I’m even more disappointed the government brought the case in the first place given all the inconsistencies,” Cannick said at the time.
Kelly was placed on suicide watch after the September verdict, according to Greenburg, but that watch has ended.
Former US President, Donald Trump has announced the launch of his new social media platform called ‘Truth social’.
Trump’s media company, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) merged with Digital World Acquisition Corp. to become a publicly listed company with a potential valuation of up to $1.7 billion.
The former president announced that Truth Social is set to launch in early 2022, to compete with the likes of Facebook and Twitter — two sites that have banned his accounts.
Trump also announced that he will launch a ”subscription video on demand service” to rival Google’s YouTube.
”I created TRUTH Social and TMTG to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech,” Trump wrote in the announcement Wednesday night, October 20.
”We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced.
”This is unacceptable.”
According to Trump, the move is a fulfillment of a promise to create a conservative media competitor to combat the liberal activism against his administration and in the 2020 presidential campaign.
”I am excited to send out my first TRUTH on TRUTH Social very soon,” Trump added. ”TMTG was founded with a mission to give a voice to all. I’m excited to soon begin sharing my thoughts on TRUTH Social and to fight back against Big Tech.

Marriage in Igboland is a very important event. In fact, it is wrong to refer to Igbo traditional marriage as an event. The traditional rites involved and executed by both families and the consenting couples make for a series of events, structured in stages, each one important, each one bathing the other.
In Igboland, traditional marriages are deemed very festive and colorful, one is required to complete the traditional rite before their religious/church wedding can take place even if the couples choose to get married civilly at a courthouse.
Although some of these stages of traditional rite differ from one Igbo community to another, they are all similar in nature, with plenteous convergence points.
Here are all the stages of marriage in Igboland outlined.
The First Introduction (Ikụ Aka n’ Uzo)
The first stage of the Igbo traditional wedding rites that is meant to observe by the groom is the first introduction or knocking at the door known as Ikụ Aka n’ Uzo in the native language. The groom has to visit the bride’s family and informs them about his intention to marry their daughter and his wish to bring his family to come and see them.
On the agreed date, the groom’s parents, elders, and few family members will accompany the groom along with some alcoholic drinks to the bride’s home, While the bride’s parents along with a few family members wait for their potential new in-laws to arrive.
Upon arrival at the bride’s family house, the groom’s family is presented with a kola nut as a sign of a welcome gesture. After which the groom’s father will make his son’s intention known for the purpose of their visit, the bride’s father will acknowledge and says he will get back to them upon speaking with his daughter.
But customary the groom’s family will not be expecting an answer for their visit during the first family meetup immediately.
2. The Family Background Investigation (Ijụ Ajụjụ)
After the first meeting between the two families, the two families conduct their investigation separately, the bride’s family carried out the investigation with or without the bride’s consent, and often the groom’s family background investigation is carried out before the first meeting with the bride’s family.
The investigations help the two families to uncover where each family comes from, the village locations, each family character, family standing in society, religious practices, including family general health information. In ancient times, it was sought to know if the other family has ties to the Osu or some evil spirits or from an enslaved lineage.
Though the outcome of the family background checking can affect and determine the next step in the marriage process although a family can stop or delay the marriage process at this stage because of their investigation findings.
The Discussion Of The Bridal List (Ihu Isi Nwanyi)
This stage, in some cultures, is intertwined, comprising the discussion of the bridal list and the dowry negotiation. In other cultures, nearly everywhere today, the list is collected separately in a stage of its own then taken home and studied by the groom’s party.
This stage comes after the families complete their investigations and both families are happy with their findings, the families can schedule a follow-up visit for the discussion of the Bridal List required for the marriage process.
The List contains items the groom will bring to the bride’s parents on the Traditional Marriage, in that visit the bride’s father will call her to come and greet the guests and in the presence of the guests, will inform her of their guest marriage proposal and ask her should they accept or decline?
Tradition demands the bride’s family to give the required Bridal List to the groom’s family, which includes items for the bride’s parents and community both for the men, the women, and the young adults.
4. The Dowry Negotiations (Ego Isi Nwanyi)
Now when it comes to the Dowry Negotiations (Ime ego), both two families will meet and discuss the dowry amount as tradition demands. There is no set amount for the dowry as it’s up to the two families to decide when the dowry discussion comes up.
After the negotiation, the groom’s family then presents all they’ve bought to the bride’s family on the day of the wine-carrying ceremony.
5. The Traditional Wedding Ceremony (Igba Nkwụ)
The last and final rite done by the groom’s family is the traditional wedding ceremony. A ceremony is an open event and the only part of the marriage process the public are allowed to attend at the bride’s family home along with both families, friends, and well-wishers in attendance to witness the union of the couple.
An important part during the igba nkwụ is when the bride carries the wine from her father to look for her groom and when she finds him, she gives him the wine and the public will know her husband.
Then she will take the groom to her family for their blessing and words of advice after which the couple will rise to music and dancing, joined by their family and friends. The preparation for the traditional ceremony is the responsibility of the bride’s family as is in their compound.
Postscript
After the wedding, the marriage process is not over for many places in Igbo culture. The following stage is mostly done on the wedding day but it doesn’t make it part of the Igba Nkwu. It is a distinct stage of its own.
New Home Sendoff Gifts By The Bride’s Parents (Idu Ụlọ)
New Home Sendoff Gifts known as Idu Ụlọ in Igboland is the process in which gifts are given to the bride by the bride’s family, where the bride’s family showers their newlywed daughter with house gifts to start her new married life.
Although the gifts depend on what the bride’s family can afford to gift their daughter, upon leaving her family she goes along with a maiden or her sister who isn’t married to keep her company in her new family.
After few weeks after Igba Nkwụ (sometimes months or even years), the Bride’s family first visits the newlyweds’ home (Imata Ụlọ Di) to know where their daughter is living in case of an emergency and to confirm that she is happy and cared for in her new home.
Thus, the beauty of every culture is the traditions they practice, one might say that marriage in Igbo culture is a long and expensive one, but that is the tradition.
The Taliban was welcomed in Moscow today, October 20 during talks on Afghanistan as Russia seeks to exert influence over the new regime.
Russia’s Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov opened the talks and emphasised that ‘forming a really inclusive government fully reflecting the interests of not only all ethnic groups but all political forces of the country’ is necessary to achieve a stable peace in Afghanistan.
Russia designated the Taliban a terror organisation in 2003 and never took it off the list but has been working to improve relations with the country.
With the US now clearly out of the way, the Taliban was welcomed in Moscow today.
Unlike many other countries, Russia hasn’t evacuated its embassy in Kabul and its ambassador has maintained regular contacts with the Taliban since they took over the Afghan capital of Kabul in August.
Lavrov commended the Taliban for their efforts to stabilise the military-political situation in the country and ensure the operation of state structures.
‘We are satisfied with the level of practical interaction with Afghan authorities, which allows to effectively ensure the security of Russian citizens in Afghanistan and the unimpeded operation of our embassy in Kabul,’ Lavrov said in his opening speech.
Lavrov then added that Russia would soon dispatch a shipment of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.
Zamir Kabulov, the Kremlin envoy on Afghanistan who also attended the meeting, said the international recognition of the Taliban depends on the inclusiveness of their government and their human rights record.
‘We expect the Taliban to meet … the request of the international community about inclusivity and basic human rights, which include broadly all kinds of human rights, and they confirmed that they are working on that, the process of improvement of governance, the process of improving the human rights situation,’ Kabulov told reporters.

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has said that leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu being charged with insulting President Buhari is an abuse of power.

Reacting to this, Reno Omokri noted that President Buhari had allegedly insulted former Presidents Goodluck Jonatha , Olusegun Obasanjo and Musa Yar’adua.
He added that if insulting Buhari is a crime, then all Nigerians including his wife Aisha, should be persecuted for the same reason.

The US military base in Al-Tanf, Syria, was hit by a coordinated attack on Wednesday with a drone strike and possible ground fire, that US officials say was a ‘coordinated attack’
No US troops were injured and it is not clear who carried out the attack.
The base is used to train local Syrian forces against the Islamic State
This is the third attack in Syria on Wednesday alone following a bus bombing that killed 14 and a shelling that killed 13 on Wednesday, October 20.
A US official said the attack appeared to include at least one drone strike and possibly groundfire at the base in Al-Tanf, Syria, which houses some of the 900 US soldiers in Syria. The base is also located on a road serving as a vital link for Iranian-backed forces from Tehran, all the way to southern Lebanon and Israel.
‘Explosions resounded from the Al Tanf base used by the US-led coalition’ fighting Daesh group, the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said in a statement. Daesh is a name used locally for ISIS.
The official who spoke on condition of anonymity said there was no information on whether local Syrian forces were injured or killed in the attack.
The UK government is keeping a “close watch” on a descendant of the coronavirus Delta variant which is being seen in a growing number of cases.
Downing Street said it was monitoring the AY4.2 variant but insisted there was no evidence it spreads more easily.
While the Delta variant remains the dominant strain in the UK, the latest research shows six per cent of cases which have been genetically sequenced are of a new kind.
“It’s something we’re keeping a very close eye on,” the Prime Minister’s official spokesperson said
“As you would expect we’re monitoring it closely and won’t hesitate to take action if necessary.”
Scientists said AY4.2 carries two characteristic mutations in the spike, Y145H and A222V, both of which have been found in various other coronavirus lineages since the beginning of the pandemic.
However, they have remained at low frequency until now.
The first strains carrying both mutations were sequenced in April 2020 and either are found in any variant of concern.
Francois Balloux, professor of computational systems biology at University College London, said: “The A222V was found in the B.1.177 lineage that swept Europe in the summer of 2020.
“But careful follow-up analyses pointed to the lineage likely having no inherent transmissibility advantage and that its spread was most likely caused by demographic processes.”
He added neither mutation was an obvious candidate for increased transmissibility but mutations can have different, sometimes unexpected, effects in different strains.
“As AY4.2 is still at fairly low frequency, a 10% increase in its transmissibility could have caused only a small number of additional cases,” the professor explained.
“As such it hasn’t been driving the recent increase in case numbers in the UK.”
He said AY4.2 was not comparable to the emergence of Alpha and Delta which were at least 50 per cent more transmissible than any other strain at the time.
“Here we are dealing with a potential small increase in transmissibility that would not have a comparable impact on the pandemic,” he added.
AY4.2 is rare outside the UK and there have been only three cases detected in the US so far.
A Federal High Court in Abuja has rejected the request of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to be moved from DSS custody to Kuje Correctional Service Centre. This is the second time Kanu’s request has been turned down by the court.
In July, the IPOB leader asked to be moved to the prison, alleging that he had been “subjected to mental and psychological torture” by the Department of State Services (DSS).
At the court session on Thursday, October 21, Kanu pleaded not guilty to an amended seven-count charge bordering on treasonable felony and terrorism preferred against him by the federal government.
Ifeanyi Ejiofor, his lead counsel, asked the court to transfer him from the custody of the DSS to Kuje prison.
The presiding judge, Justice Binta Nyako, refused the application and adjourned the case till November 10.
Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the terrorism charges against him by the Nigerian government.
Kanu pleaded not guilty following his arraignment before a federal high court in Abuja, by 10am on Thursday October 21.
Recall that the federal government recently amended the charges against him, raising them to seven counts as against the five counts he was previously answering to, bordering on treasonable felony and terrorism.

Liberia’s President George Weah has honoured an 18-year-old motorcycle taxi rider who found and returned $50,000 (£36,000) to a businesswoman who had lost the cash in the north-eastern Nimba region.
President Weah met Emmanuel Tolue at a ceremony in the capital, Monrovia, on Monday and offered him cash and an educational scholarship.
The motorcycle rider has become a national hero in recent days for his action.
He found the money wrapped in a plastic bag and returned it after the owner, Musu Yancy, appealed on public radio for anyone finding the money to return it.
Ms Yancy appreciated the young man’s honesty with cash and goods valued at about $1,500.
The president hailed Mr Tuloe’s “exceptional sense of morality and good citizenship” as an inspiration for the youth.
The Liberian leader promised to recognise and award the young man with one of Liberia’s highest honours – the order of distinction – for his honesty.
In addition, the president gave him $10,000 as well as two new motorcycles “for you to improve your circumstances and sustain yourself financially”.
Mr Tolue, who dropped from seventh grade in school to go into motorcycling business, will also benefit from a fully-funded scholarship up to university level.
Real Madrid forward, Karim Benzema’s trial for his alleged involvement in an attempted blackmail case linked to a sex tape featuring his former France team-mate Matthieu Valbuena, has kicked off.
Benzema is accused encouraging Valbuena to pay blackmailers who threatened to make the sexually explicit video public in 2015.
The 33-year-old has denied wrongdoing and his lawyer has described the case against the player as “absurd”.
Benzema faces up to five years in jail and a €75,000 (£63,282) fine if convicted.
Benzema, who played for Real Madrid in their 5-0 Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine on Tuesday night, was absent as the trial got underway in Versailles.
His four co-accused – Mustapha Zouaoui, Younes Houass, Karim Zenati & Axel Angot – face charges of attempted blackmail and were present as court proceedings began.
Benzema and Valbuena were international team-mates at the time of the affair but lost their places in the France squad in the wake of the scandal.
The striker was recalled to the France squad for this year’s European Championship and the trial comes at a time when he is shining on the pitch for club and country.
Police officers have alleged that passengers held up their phones to film a 40-minute horror sex attack on a commuter train, but didn’t call 911.
Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority Police Chief Thomas Nestel said at a news conference that the 35-year-old homeless man identified as Fiston Ngoy, harassed the victim for more than 40 minutes. More than two dozen train stops passed as he harassed, groped and eventually raped the woman.
Ngoy who has been charged with rape, has a previous sex offense conviction and should have been deported back to Congo years ago.
Police said he went to sit next to the victim after boarding the El train at the same stop in northeast Philadelphia last Wednesday evening.
The train passed more than 20 stations as he harassed and groped her while she tried to fend him off, it is alleged. Eventually he ripped off her clothes and raped her, police said.
It is believed no one on board called 911 or used the emergency call box fitted in the car, and it was also claimed some passengers instead used their phones to video the attack.
The woman’s ordeal only ended when an off-duty train employee called police, who arrived within three minutes and pulled the rapist off her, according to an arrest affidavit.
Upper Darby Police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt said it was “disturbing” to know people saw the attack and did nothing to help.
Bernhardt said;
“I have no words for it. I just can’t imagine seeing what you were seeing through your own eyes.
“I’m appalled by those who did nothing to help this woman.
“Anybody that was on that train has to look in the mirror and ask why they didn’t intervene or why they didn’t do something.”
Transit Police Chief Thomas Nestel said;
“We want everyone to be angry, disgusted, and to join us in being resolute in keeping our system safe.
“I can tell you that people were holding their phone up in the direction of this woman being attacked.”
Police have not released security camera footage or revealed how many other people were in the car. Supt Bernhardt said anyone who recorded the assault could face criminal charges.
Ngoy told police that he knew the victim, but that he couldn’t remember her name. He told authorities she consented. The woman told police his version of events was false, and further revealed that he ignored her pleas for him to leave her alone.
A security video is said to show her repeatedly pushing him away as he groped her breast, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Ngoy has been charged with rape, sexual assault and other offenses and was held in custody. The suspect who listed his last address as a homeless shelter, remains in custody on a $180,000 bail. His initial court appearance is scheduled for October 25.
The sexual abuse case against Nollywood actor Olarewaju James, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, continued today and a tape of the victim speaking about the incident was played in court.
During the trial today, October 20, in Lagos, the court played a tape recording of the alleged victim’s interview with child rights advocate Bisi Ajayi Kayode.
In the video played in court, the alleged victim, who is underaged, narrated how Baba Ijesha allegedly assaulted her 7 years ago when she was just 7 years old, and how he tried again recently after she turned 14.
She said that Baba Ijesha visited the house where she was staying with her guardian, comedienne Oluwadamilola Adekoya, better known as Princess, and brought out his penis then asked her to sit on his lap.
She said she was engrossed in the cartoon she was watching on television so she sat on his lap until she felt something wet on her body.
She said in the video played in court: “I didn’t make a sound after seeing his private part. I sat on his laps myself and removed my pant because of my concentration on the cartoon I was watching.”
Using a doll to demonstrate how she sat on Baba Ijesha’s lap, the girl said: “I sat in front of the television trying to watch cartoon.
“Baba Ijesha told me to come and sit on his lap and so I did. Then he removed his private part and told me to sit on him.”
She said she soon felt something wet and then went into the bathroom to clean herself up with a towel. She said Baba Ijesha didn’t say anything afterward.
She claimed that Baba Ijesha returned again the following day and penetrated her with a key.
“He parked his car away from his house and that was where he inserted his car key into my private part while trying to kiss me,” she alleged.
“When he inserted the car key, I felt some type of way.”
The girl then demonstrated how he allegedly penetrated her with the car key.
She said she eventually told her mother about the incident on April 17, 2021, and on April 19, 2021, CCTV was set up to get evidence in order to charge Baba Ijesha to court.
For the first time, Surgeons in US have successfully attached a kidney grown in a genetically altered pig to a human patient and found that the organ worked normally.
The procedure done at NYU Langone Health in New York City involved use of a pig whose genes had been altered so that its tissues no longer contained a molecule known to trigger an almost immediate rejection, according to the Reuters news agency which reported on the news on Tuesday.
The recipient was a brain-dead patient with signs of kidney dysfunction whose family consented to the experiment before she was due to be taken off life support, researchers told the Reuters news agency.
For three days, the new kidney was attached to her blood vessels and maintained outside her body, giving researchers access to it.
Test results of the transplanted kidney’s function “looked pretty normal,” said transplant surgeon Dr Robert Montgomery, who led the study.
The kidney made “the amount of urine that you would expect” from a transplanted human kidney, he said, and there was no evidence of the vigorous, early rejection seen when unmodified pig kidneys are transplanted into non-human primates.
The recipient’s abnormal creatinine level – an indicator of poor kidney function – returned to normal after the transplant, Montgomery said.
In the United States, nearly 107,000 people are currently waiting for organ transplants, including the more than 90,000 awaiting a kidney, according to the United Network for Organ Sharing.
Former US President, Donald Trump has derided former US Secretary of State, Gen. Colin Powell in death, calling him a turncoat who “made plenty of mistakes.”
Powell, 84, died on Monday of COVID-19 complications despite being fully vaccinated. He was battling multiple myeloma, a blood plasma cancer that can cripple the immune system, leaving him vulnerable to the deadly virus.
A lifelong Republican, Powell apparently annoyed Trump by endorsing Democrats in recent presidential elections as the GOP swung hard to the right. The retired statesman also once slammed Trump as unfit for the White House.
Trump in a statement, used Powell’s death to remind his supporters that the general was a prominent architect of the bloody U.S. war in Iraq, which Trump strongly opposed.
Years later after the war, Powell admitted his false claims about Saddam Hussein’s weapons programs, calling it a “blot” on his career.
Despite the unanimous chorus of praise for the soldier and diplomat, by Democrats and Republicans and Trump’s deputy Mike Pence, Trump slammed Powell on Tuesday as a “classic RINO,” or Republican in name only, “if even that.”
“He was….always the first to attack other Republicans,” Trump said in an email message. “He made plenty of mistakes, but anyway, may he rest in peace!”
He sarcastically noted that it was “wonderful” to see the media treat Powell with reverence despite his missteps, especially his checkered role in the launching of the second war with Iraq.

American music producer, Dr. Dre was served with divorce papers while laying his grandmother to rest in Los Angeles on Monday October 18.
Dr. Dre is in the midst of a contentious divorce from Nicole Young that has garnered numerous headlines since the papers were first filed. Things were bitter before, and they may have just ratcheted up a notch further.
TMZ reported that a process server for the music producer’s ex-wife attempted to serve him with legal documents in the divorce while at the cemetery. Though the claim is disputed, sources however told the publication that Dr. Dre was standing graveside next to his grandmother’s casket when the process service first attempted to give him the papers.
It is unknown what transpired in the interim but sources close to Nicole Young say that Dre was in fact served in the cemetery’s parking lot after the burial.
Dre refused to take the documents and was understandably furious. Source for the opposing parties disagrees on exactly how service was achieved. Dr. Dre’s sources are saying the process server dropped the papers at the gravesite. Nicole Young’s source disputes this and says the papers were dropped in the parking lot of the Los Angeles cemetery.
The papers involved payment of Nicole’s attorney’s fees. There’s a dispute over how much he was supposed to pay. The music mogul has already paid $325,433.
The judge had earlier signed an order that he owed a total of $1,550,000. Dre believes that amount is in error and he paid the full fee. Nicole says the order is clear, and that her ex-husband owes a balance of $1,224,567. The legal docs that were served included the judge’s final order of $1,550,000.
A man named Michael Haugabook is trending after he married his Goddaughter, Deja, shortly after she turned 18.
Michael, a father with multiple children, was a part of Deja’s life right from when she was born and is seen in one photo carrying her when she was a toddler.

A newborn baby girl miraculously survived after she was packed in a suitcase by her mother and buried in a shallow grave in a yard in Tsomo in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.
The 34-year-old mother, Lindiswa Ntalo, who was arrested last week appeared in court on Monday, October 18 and granted bail.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu, it is alleged that during the early hours of Monday morning, 11 October 2021, the woman from Xolobe Administrative area in Tsomo allegedly gave birth to a baby girl.
“The baby was allegedly put in a suitcase and buried in a shallow grave in the yard.” Naidu state.
Naidu said police in Tsomo was alerted by the Chief of the area on Tuesday about his suspicion that the woman was pregnant and is no longer pregnant and that there is no child.
Police went out to Xolobe and found a grave in the yard. On digging it up, police discovered the child in blankets in the suitcase, still alive.”
She said the child was taken to the hospital. The mother was arrested on charge of concealment of pregnancy and also taken to hospital for medical attention.
Meanwhily, community leaders expressed their horror after learning that Ntalo had not been charged with attempted murder.
Amazizi traditional council head, Nkosi JongisizweNgcongolo, who reported the case on October 12, said: “This is shocking. This is the same woman who buried her baby alive for 24 hours and tried numerous times to perform an abortion,”
“She told the community and her relatives that she wanted to get rid of the pregnancy and the baby. Is this not making a mockery of justice? How can the police and NPA explain that? Why are they not charging her for attempted murder? We are disappointed. The baby could have died. It is a miracle that she was found alive.” he added.
Though the incident caused a huge public outcry, no family members were present when the mother appeared at the Tsomo magistrate’s court on Monday.
The accused said she cared for eight children, from her 18year-old eldest daughter to an 18-month-old grandchild.
“I am also looking after my sisters’ children. I am the only person looking after all these children and the homestead. Both my parents have since died. My sisters work in Gauteng,’she said.
“I am unemployed and survive on child grants and money from my sisters. The father of the infant left the village and I don’t know where he is. He said he was from Lady Frere [Cacadu] but I don’t know his surname. I got pregnant after a one-night stand,’ he said.
She will be represented by Legal Aid SA lawyers. The state did not oppose bail and the woman was released on warning.
Magistrate Bonakele Bakadela postponed the case to November 16 for further investigation.
Speaking to the Daily Dispatch, she said she was happy to be released on bail.
“It is not nice to be in jail. I miss my baby. When we were in hospital I had a special bond with her. All I want is to care for my little baby and the other children. I love my baby, she is so beautiful. I don’t know if my family or social workers will allow me to take care of her. won’t harm her, I love her,” she told the Dispatch.
Tonto Dikeh’s ex-boyfriend, Prince Kpokpogri has allegedly been arrested and detained by the police.

43 people have been confirmed dead in the wake of the attack by bandits on Goronyo township in Goronyo local government area of Sokoto state.
Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state gave this clarification after due diligence on figures of those that died in the Goronyo market Sunday attack.
Earlier in the day Tambuwal had put the figure at about 30 when the Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Farouk Yahaya paid him a courtesy visit.
“The number of people that died in Goronyo. I did say it was above 30. I wasn’t categorical about the figure. We just finished a meeting with some stakeholders and I have confirmed that we lost 43 people unfortunately to that incident. May God Almighty have mercy on their souls,” Gov. Tambuwal said.
Norwich goalkeeper Dan Barden has been diagnosed with testicular cancer.
The 20-year-old Welsh footballer, who is currently on-loan at cinch Premiership side Livingston but will be taking a break from football.
‘It has been a very difficult and challenging period, but the support of my family, friends and colleagues has helped get me through the last few weeks,’ Barden told Norwich’s official club website.’
He will be closely monitored on a treatment programme after undergoing follow up tests following the initial diagnosis.
‘I can’t thank the medical departments at both Norwich and Livingston enough, as well as everyone at the Royal Marsden Hospital,’ the goalkeeper added.

An English council has urged parents not to allow their children to watch the hit Netflix show “Squid Games” due to its graphic nature and the amount of violent content.
In email sent to parents and guardians, the Central Bedfordshire council’s education safeguarding team advised them to ‘be vigilant after hearing reports that children and young people are copying games and violence’ from the show.
Reports have said children as young as six are copying the show’s traditional children’s games in the school playground which, in the show, come with deadly consequences for the losers.
The South Korean series centres around a fictional game show in which poverty-stricken characters compete in a series of death games to win a £27million cash prize.
The survival drama, which features gruesome scenes of characters being shot in the head and organ harvesting, sees contestants take part in versions of traditional children’s games, with the winners progressing to the next stage.
Those failing the tasks are executed by a masked death squad standing by with machine guns.
The Central Bedfordshire council email, which was first reported in The Guardian, said: ‘There have been some concerning reports recently about children and young people ‘playing’ Squid Game whilst at school.
‘We strongly advise that children should not watch Squid Game. The show is quite graphic with a lot of violent content.’
The council is the latest in a string of schools to issue advice to parents about the show.
Gareth Nichols, from Sir Francis Hill primary in Lincoln, said ‘a small group of pupils within school, aged around six’ were discussing the show and ‘re-enacting some scenes’.
Mr Nichols said the class teacher ‘immediately contacted parents to make them aware’, the BBC reported.
Sandown School in Deal, Kent, said Key Stage 2 teachers had given their pupils extra lessons on online safety and the dangers of watching content that is ‘not age appropriate’ as a response to the show’s popularity.
A spokeswoman for the school said: ‘We are always updating our advice to the parents and children, it’s something we are constantly updating.
‘As a response to this show and others we have put on extra lessons about violence and online harms.’
Goodwin Academy, another school in Deal, confirmed its safeguarding team had sent a letter to parents regarding age concerns over the content in the series.
A parent who lives in Deal wrote on social media: ‘We’ve received 2 school letters (primary/secondary) warning parents about letting kids watch ‘Squid Game’.
‘I’m starting to think a more general letter about parental responsibility might be more useful. Keep an eye on your kids’ media consumption people.’
Jennifer Gates, the eldest daughter of Bill and Melinda Gates, has married Nayel Nassar.
The 25-year-old medical student, who announced her engagement to the professional equestrian, 30, in January 2020, got married to him on Saturday October 16, at her 124-acre horse farm in North Salem, New York.
They took to their respective Instagram accounts today, October 18, to announce that that got married over the weekend.
The wedding reportedly took place a day after the couple exchanged vows in a small Muslim ceremony on Friday, October 15.
Bill and Melinda Gates, who announced their divorce earlier this year, were present at the wedding and walked their daughter down the aisle.
The ceremony was attended by 300 guests, including Jennifer Gates’ siblings, brother Rory, 22, and sister Phoebe, 19.
An amended seven-count charge has been filed by the federal government against the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, before a Federal High Court in Abuja.
The fresh charges border on treasonable felony and terrorism following the pending charges he was facing since 2016 and it was also learnt that the court has issued a hearing notice in the case which is billed to commence on Thursday, October 21.
Justice Binta Nyako made fresh directives on the conduct of the proceedings throughout the case in the notice.
It read;
“This case will be transferred from the General Cause List to the hearing paper for Thursday 21st October 2021at 9 o’clock forenoon and will come on to be on that day if the business of the court permits or otherwise on some adjustment day of which you will receive no further notice.
“If either party desires to postpone the hearing, he must apply to the court as soon as possible for that purpose and if the application is based on any matter of fact, he must be prepared to give proof of those facts.
“The parties are warned that at the hearing, they are required to bring forward all the evidence by witnesses or by documents which each of them desires to rely on in support of his own case and in contradiction of that of his opponent.
“The proof will be required at the hearing and not on a subsequent day, and parties failing to bring their evidence forward at the proper time may find themselves absolutely precluded from adducing it at all, or at best only allowed to do so on payment of substantial costs to the other side, and on such other terms as the court deems fits to impose.
“Parties desirous to enforce the attendance of witnesses should apply at once to the court to issue one or more summonses for the attendance of the witnesses required.
“It is indispensable that the application should be made so as to allow time for reasonable notice to the witnesses required.
“If the witness is required to bring books or papers, they must be particularized in the summons sufficiently to enable him to understand what is meant.
” Any party summoning a witness through the court thereby becomes liable to pay such witness reasonable sum of money to be fixed by the court for his expense and loss of time.
“The court may refuse to enforce the attendance of a witness unless such sum has been fixed and deposited in the court.
“If either party desires to use in evidence at the hearing, any book or document in the possession or power of the other party, he must give the other party, reasonable notice in writing to produce It at the hearing, failing which he will not be allowed to give any secondary evidence of its contents.”
Explaining how Nnamdi Kanu incited violence in some parts of the country, the prosecution averred that it will lead evidence that Kanu granted an interview with Sahara Reporters “wherein he asserted that Nigeria, which he refers to as the ‘zoo’, ‘have come to an end.’”
The IPOB leader was accused of saying that violence is the language people in the ‘zoo’ understand, adding that “if they fail to give us Biafra, Somalia will be a child’s play; Somalia will look like paradise. We will kill everybody in that zoo called Nigeria. If they fail to give us Biafra, there will be no more living in the zoo.”
The prosecution which alleged that Kanu does not believe in peaceful approach to the realisation of Biafra and has insisted that he is not aware of anywhere peaceful approach worked, added that the IPOB leader in a broadcast on August 1, 2015, directed his members in Diaspora to identify families of Nigerian dignitaries abroad, their residences and schools for reprisal when security agencies attack Biafrans.
The prosecution said;
“In his broadcasts, he invited his listeners to burn down as many police stations as police and kill any policeman and military personnel.”
He was also accused of seeking to carve out Republic of Biafra from South East, South South, parts of Kogi and Benue states against the provision of Section 41(c)of the Criminal Code Act, 2004.
In a broadcast on Radio Biafra, London, monitored in Enugu on 28th April, 2015, Kanu is alleged to have referred to President Muhammadu Buhari, who is the Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as paedophile, terrorist and an embodiment of evil “knowing same to be false”, which contravenes Section 357 of the Criminal Code Act, 2004.
Other charges include;
“That you Nnamdi Kanu, male adult of Afarachukw lbeku Umahia North Local Government Area of Abia State between the month of March and April 2015 imported into Nigeria and kept in Ubulusiizor in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra state within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court , a Radio transmitter known as TRAM 50l concealed in a container of used household Which you declared as used household items and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 47 (2) of the Criminal Code of Act ,Cap C45, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
“On the 16th of May, 2021 in London United Kingdom within the jurisdiction of this honourable court did commit and act in furtherance if an act of terrorism by making a broadcast that “in two weeks time, what will happen will shake the world, people will die, the whole world will stand still mark my word” and you thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 1 (2) (h) of the Terrorism Prevention Amendment Act, 2013.”
