Wanted Man arrested for killing his girlfriend and their 9-month old daughter

A 29-year- old man, Naseem Ahmed, who allegedly killed his girlfried and their child in South Africa was arrested on Thursday, January 21.

Chantelle Ester Ash and their 9-month-old daughter, Tasneem Isha Ash were found strangled at a lodge in R518 road between Mokopane and Marken road in Masodi village, on the 14th of January. Their hands were tied from the back and their bodies in a state of decomposition.

Provincial police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, who confirmed the incident said that on Tuesday, 12 January 2021 at about 19:00, “a man and woman with their nine-month-old baby were dropped off at the gate of the lodge by a grey unknown motor vehicle.”

Apparently, the trio rented a room for overnight accommodation without providing their personal information and promised the receptionist that they will check out the next day, on Wednesday 13 January 2021 at 09:00.

The following day, the receptionist decided to go and check on them and made the gruesome discovery. Furthermore, there was no presence of the male person who came to the lodge with them.

The Police were immediately notified. The 72-hour activation plan which included the Crime Intelligence, Tracking Team, Detectives and other supporting units were mobilised.

A massive manhunt was launched which resulted in the arrest of this suspect at Brixton, in the Gauteng Province.

Ngoepe said the motive behind this incident is still not clear at this stage but domestic violence may not be ruled out.

The suspect, said to be a Pakistani national, appeared in the Mokerong Magistrate’s Court on Friday, January 22.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has welcomed the arrest of the suspect.

The Provincial Commissioner has applauded the Police for the speedy arrest and highlighted the swift action should send a clear message to those involved in heinous crimes especially against women and children that they will be tracked down and brought to book.

A Republican files articles of impeachment against Joe Biden

Barely 24 hours after Joe Biden’s inauguration as US President, a Republican lawmaker, GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has filed articles of impeachment against Joe Biden, alleging abuse of power by Biden from his time as vice president.


The newly sworn in Rep. from Georgia, who has supported QANON conspiracy theories and criticized the 25,000 National Guard deployed to Washington D.C. to protect the presidential inauguration, took to Twitter to make her announcement.


“I’ve just filed articles of impeachment on President Joe Biden, we will see how this goes,” Greene said.


She then immediately used her announcement to raise money for an “Impeach Joe Biden Fund.”

In a press release, she accused Biden of “enabling bribery” and “blatant nepotism” by utilizing his son Hunter Biden’s position on the Ukrainian energy company, Burisma.


“President Joe Biden is unfit to hold the office of the Presidency. His pattern of abuse of power as President Obama’s Vice President is lengthy and disturbing,” she wrote in a statement Thursday.


 “President Biden has demonstrated that he will do whatever it takes to bail out his son, Hunter, and line his family’s pockets with cash from corrupt foreign energy companies.” She added

Biden has repeatedly denied involving U.S. foreign policy in Kiev with his son’s work.

Greene’s articles of impeachment are not expected to be taken serious as the house is controlled by Democrats.


Greene announced last week, just hours after the House’s historic second impeachment of President Trump, that she would bring articles of impeachment against Biden.


 She took to Twitter Thursday to say the “inauguration looked like a one party military state takeover with 30k troops.”


“People were told not to go & flags were planted to show the fake support,” she claimed.

The EU and US are calling for a probe into Uganda’s election abuses and violence

The European Union and United States are calling for a probe into Uganda’s election abuses and violence that left more than 40 people dead with opposition candidate, Bobi Wine under house arrest even after President Yoweri Museveni was declared the winner for a record sixth term.

The EU Council of Ministers released a statement saying opposition candidates were harassed by security forces, the media was suppressed by the government, and observers’ offices were raided during the election, saying that all parties should refrain from violence and for “election challenges and complaints to be addressed in an independent and transparent manner.”


 Museveni was declared the winner, amid an internet blackout and allegations of abuse.


Wine, a former singer and Museveni’s strongest opposition, has been under house arrest after the military surrounded his home since last week Friday. 


He has not changed from his earlier stance that the election was rigged.


“I thank all friends in Uganda and abroad who continue to stand with us until we put an end to this indignity,” he said in a tweet on Thursday.


He tweeted on Thursday, January 2021;


“Yes, for standing and defeating Gen. Museveni in an election, which he resoundingly rigged, I am still under house arrest 8 days later! I thank all friends in Uganda and abroad who continue to stand with us, until we put an end to this indignity. Uganda will be free.

On Thursday, President Museveni embarked on an election victory tour of the country.


Different human rights groups and NGOs have called for wine’s release.


“It is neither a crime to stand for president nor to want to challenge the election results in court,” said the regional director of the human rights NGO, Deprose Muchena, in a statement.

“This continued confinement is politically motivated and a blatant violation of their human rights. It must be lifted immediately and without any conditions.”


“The abuses included killings by security forces, arrests and beatings of opposition supporters and journalists, disruption of opposition rallies, and a shutdown of the internet,” said the international human rights NGO in a statement.


Jake Sullivan, National Security Advisor for United States President-elect Joe Biden, described the house arrest as “deeply concerning” on Sunday.


On Saturday the US State Department called for authorities to address election “irregularities” after the United States ambassador to Uganda, Natalie E. Brown, was blocked by Ugandan security forces from visiting presidential candidate Bobi Wine on Monday.

Kano musician sentenced to death for blasphemy appeals death sentence

The death sentence imposed on Yahya Sharif Aminu, a Kano-based singer who was convicted for blasphemy has been overturned by a court. 

In a judgement delivered on Thursday January 21 by the state’s chief judge Nuraddeen Sagir, it was stated that the trial was full of irregularities as the appellant was not given legal representation.

Sagir also said that the judgement of the upper Sharia court contravened section 2-6-9 of the administration of criminal justice act.

He ordered that the case be re-tried at the same court and that the appellant should be given fair hearing and legal representation under another judge.

Plans for Mohamed to come to the UK to join her are currently on pause as he’s currently struggling to get a spousal visa.

Iris previously left TV viewers shocked after appearing on ITV’s This Morning to disclose intimate details about their love story as well as her first sexual encounter with her toyboy.

The woman, who flew all the way down to Egypt from the UK to see her lover Mohamed Ahmed Irbriham in November 2019, said she “felt like a virgin again” before going further.

When asked about their first night together, the 80-year-old pensioner said: “It was very rough.” She then continued: “Nobody’s been near me for 35 years, I felt like a virgin again.

“We used a whole tube of KY jelly.”

While the comment left presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield laughing out loud. Iris added: “I couldn’t walk the next day, I felt like I’d been riding a horse.”

However, Iris’s family members weren’t pleased with her new relationship because they believe Mohamed could be after her money.

Speaking to the Sun Online, Iris’ son Stephen Jones, 53, said that the romance threatened to split the family.

He said: “She revealed that she’d been talking to this guy in Egypt. I didn’t know his age and didn’t really think too much of it. Then one day, she came out and said ‘I’m falling for this guy’.

“When I found out his age it caused a lot of friction. My brother didn’t accept it, I was dubious about it because of the age difference.

“Darren took it worse than me. He didn’t want anything to do with it.”

Meanwhile, Iris has repeatedly insisted that Mohamed isn’t after her money nor is he seeking a passport to Britain.

She said: “If he’s marrying me for my fortune he’ll be sadly disappointed because I live on a pension.

“I don’t suffer fools gladly. I’m honest and I’m truthful and I told him straight away he couldn’t be a freeloader.”

Jordon Ibe, confirmed to be ‘suffering from depression’

England-born Nigerian footballer, Jordon Ibe, who plays as a winger for Derby County has revealed he is ‘suffering from depression’ and is ‘in a dark place.’ 

The 25-year-old former Liverpool and Bournemouth player, who joined the Derby County on a free transfer in September 2020, has featured just once for his new club and has not been in a matchday squad since Boxing Day.

127 Soldiers allegedly resign from Nigerian Army amid the worsening security challenges

127 soldiers have reportedly resigned from the Nigerian army amid the worsening security challenges the military is currently combating in some parts of the country.

In a memo obtained by Premium Times, it was gathered that the soldiers who are drawn from various formations of the army across the country are all of the junior cadres. 

The military personnel comprising of one Master Warrant Officer, three Warrant Officers, 22 Staff Sergeants, 29 Sergeants, 64 Corporals, seven Lance Corporals and one Private, will disengage in May as Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai has since approved their formal disengagement.

Though there was no clarification on those embarking on voluntary retirement and those leaving the army on medical grounds, Brigadier-General  T.A Gagariga who communicated the approval of their disengagements directed them to submit all military properties in their possession.

The memo read; 

“In compliance with the provisions of section A, the COAS vide reference B has approved the voluntary discharge of the above named NWO and 126 others listed in annex A. The soldiers are to proceed on terminal leave WEF 26th April, 21 while their disengagement date takes effect from 26th May 21 in accordance with the NA administrative policies and procedures No. 27 paragraphs 3 and 4. 

“Accordingly, I am directed to request you relate to their respective units to release the affected soldiers to report to HQ CAR with their unit service documents for documentation NLT 5th January 21 and ensure that:

“a. All forms of military controlled items, arms, ammunition and items of combat kits are recovered from the soldiers prior to their disengagement date and certified that they are properly de-kitted.

“b. They complete all necessary documentation for withdrawal from: 1. NAWIS contributions 2. DENFUND contribution 3. National Mortgage Contributions.”

President Biden at work, signs, cancel and rectifies Executive Orders

Joe Biden in his first official acts as president signed a series of executive actions on Wednesday night, January 20, to reverse the policies of Donald Trump administration on immigration, climate change, racial equity, and the handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

Before signing 17 executive orders, Biden told reporters: “There’s no time to waste.”

“These are just all starting points,” he added. 

Here’s a look at the orders the president signed on his first day:

Mask requirement

Biden is requiring the use of masks and social distancing in all federal buildings, on federal lands and by federal employees and contractors. Consistently masking up is a practice that science has shown to be effective in preventing the spread of the coronavirus, particularly when social distancing is difficult to maintain.

He is challenging all Americans to wear a mask for the first 100 days of his administration. That’s a critical period, since communities will still be vulnerable to the virus even as the pace of vaccination increases in pursuit of Biden’s goal of 100 million shots in 100 days.

World Health Organization

Biden also is directing the government to rejoin the World Health Organization, which Donald Trump withdrew from earlier this year after accusing it of incompetence and bowing to Chinese pressure over the coronavirus.

Symbolizing Biden’s commitment to a more prominent global role, White House coronavirus coordinator Jeff Zients announced that Dr. Anthony Fauci will deliver a speech Thursday to the WHO as head of a U.S. delegation. Fauci, the government’s top infectious disease expert, will lay out how the administration intends to work with the WHO on reforms, supporting the coronavirus response and promoting global health and health security

Paris climate accord

Biden will sign an executive orders to rejoin the Paris climate accord, fulfilling a campaign pledge to get back into the global climate pact on Day One. Trump, a supporter of oil, gas and coal, had made a first priority of pulling out of global efforts to cut climate-damaging fossil fuel emissions.

It will take 30 days for the U.S. to officially be back in.

Reviewing trump rollbacks

Biden’s Day One plans also include a temporary moratorium on new Trump administration oil and gas leasing in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, moving to revoke a presidential permit for the Keystone XL oil and gas pipeline and reviewing a Trump administration freeze on vehicle mileage and emissions standards. Biden also is setting in motion an evaluation of another Trump move that cut boundaries and protections for some national monuments.

Agencies will be directed to consider impact of climate change on disadvantaged communities and on future generations from any regulatory action that affected fossil fuel emissions, a new requirement.

Immigration

Ending ban on Muslim travelers: Biden is ending what is variously known as the “travel ban” or the “Muslim ban,” one of the first acts of the Trump administration. Trump in January 2017 banned foreign nationals from seven mostly Muslim countries from entry into the country. After a lengthy court fight, a watered-down version of the rule was upheld by the Supreme Court in a 5-4 decision in 2018.

The new administration says it will improve the screening of visitors by strengthening information sharing with foreign governments and other measures.

Border wall

Biden is immediately ending the national emergency that Trump declared on the border in February 2018 to divert billions of dollars from the Defense Department to wall construction. He also is halting construction to review contracts and how wall money might be redirected.

Despite Trump’s repeated promises that Mexico would pay for the wall, U.S. Customs and Border Protection says Americans have committed $15 billion for more than 700 miles (1,120 kilometers). It is unclear how many miles are under contract and what penalties the government would have to pay for canceling them.

The Supreme Court has scheduled arguments Feb. 22 on the legality of Trump’s diverting Defense Department funds for counter-narcotics efforts and military construction projects to wall construction.

DACA

Biden will order his Cabinet to work to preserve the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which has shielded hundreds of thousands of people who came to the country as young children from deportation since it was introduced in 2012.

Trump ordered an end to DACA in 2017, triggering a legal challenge that ended in June when the Supreme Court ruled that it should be kept in place because the Trump administration failed to follow federal rule-making guidelines in undoing it. But DACA is still facing legal challenges.

In his presidential proclamation, Biden is calling on Congress to adopt legislation that gives DACA recipients permanent legal status and a path to citizenship. There are currently about 700,000 people enrolled.

Deportations

Biden is revoking one of Trump’s first executive orders, which declared that all of the roughly 11 million people in the country illegally are considered priorities for deportation. The Department of Homeland Security will conduct a review of enforcement priorities. Biden’s campaign site says deportations will focus on national security and public safety threats.

The order says nothing about a 100-day moratorium on deportations that Biden promised during the campaign. Susan Rice, who is tapped to run the White House Domestic Policy Council, says any decision on moratoriums would come from Homeland Security.

Census

Biden is reversing a Trump plan to exclude people in the country illegally from being counted in the 2020 Census. The once-a-decade census is used to determine how many congressional seats and Electoral College votes each state gets, as well as the distribution of $1.5 trillion in federal spending each year.

Biden’s team says the new administration will ensure the Census Bureau has time to complete an accurate count for each state and that the apportionment is “fair and accurate.”

Legislation

Biden is also proposing legislation that would grant green cards and a path to citizenship to anyone in the United States before Jan. 1, 2021, an estimated 11 million people. Most would have to wait eight years for citizenship but people enrolled in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program for young immigrants and with Temporary Protective Status for fleeing strife-torn countries would only wait three years. Other provisions lessen the time that many people have to wait outside the United States for green cards, provide development aid to Central America and reduce the 1.2-million-case backlog in immigration courts.

Student debt

Biden is asking the Education Department to extend a pause on federal student loan payments through at least Sept. 30, continuing a moratorium that began early in the pandemic but was set to expire at the end of January.

Borrowers, who owe a collective $1.5 trillion, would not be required to make payments on their federal student loans, their loans would not accrue any interest, and all debt collection activity would halt through September.

Congress paused student debt payments last March as part of a virus relief package, and the Trump administration extended it twice.


Biden’s order does not include the type of mass debt cancellation that some Democrats asked him to orchestrate through executive action. He has said that action should come from Congress.

Housing foreclosures

Housing foreclosures and evictions would be delayed until at least March 31, 2021. Almost 12 percent of homeowners with mortgages are late on their payments, while 19 percent of renters are behind, according to a Census Bureau survey of households.

The federal moratoriums would ensure that people could stay in their homes even if they cannot afford their monthly bills. Biden is also calling on Congress to extend assistance to renters. While the moratoriums have aided several million Americans during the pandemic and helped to contain the disease, they have also meant that billions of dollars in housing costs have gone unpaid.

Suicide bomber hits Iraq with over 20 casualties (Photos)

At least six people have been killed and over 20 others injured in a suicide bombing at a crowded commercial area in Iraq’s capital, Baghdad on Thursday, January 21, Iraq officials say.

According to Iraqi media, the attacker detonated an explosive belt at a clothing market in Tayaran Square.

Minutes later, there were also reports of a second explosion nearby, making it the first time such a type of attack has happened in the city for for over 18months.

Baghdad has witnessed almost no such attacks since Iraqi forces and a U.S.-backed coalition drove the Islamic State militant group from territory it controlled in Iraq in 2017.

The last deadly suicide blast in the Iraqi capital took place in January 2018, also at Tayaran Square, killing at least 27 people.

“There’s no time to start like today,” Biden said in his first comments to reporters as president.

In his first tweet becoming the nation’s 46th commander in chief, US President Joe Biden said that there is no time to waste when it comes to tackling the crises America is facing.

“There is no time to waste when it comes to tackling the crises we face. That’s why today, I am heading to the Oval Office to get right to work delivering bold action and immediate relief for American families,” Biden tweeted from the @POTUS account.

Who is Miss Amanda Gorman?

Amanda Gorman made history on Wednesday January 20, as the youngest poet in US history to read a poem at a presidential inauguration.

The 22-year-old read a powerful poem at the inauguration of US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

The Los Angeles native reportedly finished writing the poem, titled “The Hill We Climb,” on the night of January 6, hours after rioters took part in a siege on Capitol Hill.

Gorman opened her poem Wednesday by saying, “We braved the belly of the beast.”

“We’ve learned that quiet isn’t always peace and the norms and notions of what just is, isn’t always justice. And yet the dawn is hours before we knew it, somehow we do it, somehow we’ve weathered and witnessed a nation that isn’t broken but simply unfinished,” she said. 

“We, the successors of a country and a time, where a skinny black girl descended from slaves and raised by a single mother can dream of becoming president, only to find herself reciting for one.”

“And yes, we are far from polished, far from pristine, but that doesn’t mean we are striving to form a union that is perfect,” she said. “We are striving to forge our union with purpose, to compose a country committed to all cultures, colors, characters and conditions of man.”

“And so we lift our gazes not to what stands between us but what stands before us. We close the divide because we know to put our future first. We must first put our differences aside,” Gorman said.

Gorman follows in the footsteps of esteemed poets like Maya Angelou and Robert Frost in reading a poem at a presidential inauguration.

She, however, received praises for her poem from the likes of Lin Manuel Miranda, Hillary Clinton, and Oprah Winfrey, who tweeted, “I have never been prouder to see another young woman rise! Brava Brava, @TheAmandaGorman! Maya Angelou is cheering—and so am I.”

Ogun state governor, Dr Dapo Abiodun has banned tankers from using overhead bridges in the state.

This comes after a tanker fell and exploded Tuesday, Jan 19, along Kuto – Okemosan road in Ogun state.

The state governor visited the scene of the accident. He also visited victims of the fire in the hospital.

Taking to Instagram, he wrote: “Towards avoiding a recurrence of today’s fatal tanker fire that occurred in Abeokuta, tanker drivers will henceforth no longer use overhead bridges across Ogun State, with stringent penalties to be put in place by the State Ministry of Transportation.

“When I assessed the accident scene, I was made to understand the fire was caused by a brake failure and resultant collisions, which could have escalated but for the quick intervention of responders.

The 35-year-old Portuguese striker reached the stunning landmark after scoring the first goal for Juventus in their 2 – 0 win against Napoli to win the Italian Super Cup on Wednesday night. It was his 1,040 games as a professional footballer.

The new record moved him above Josef Bican – with the Austrian-Czech striker scoring 759 goals between 1931 and 1955.

The former Real Madrid and Manchester United striker now has 760 goals in his storied career.

Azealia Banks owns the skull of a six-year-old girl who died of head trauma

Azealia Banks has responded to rumours she ate her dead cat Lucifer after cooking it.

The 29-year-old American rapper said she didn’t eat the cat but shocked fans with an even more horrifying revelation on Wednesday, Jan 20.

She revealed during a live radio interview on The Kyle and Jackie O Show that she owns the skull of a six-year-old girl who died of head trauma.

She found the skull on a “scientific research website” and even showed it off via Zoom during the interview.

After posting a video to Instagram last week of herself digging up her dead cat and boiling it, there were rumours the rapper who has admitted to practising witchcraft ate the cat’s remains.

But she said in response: “Absolutely not, no I didn’t eat the cat. And firstly, I wouldn’t eat a cat that has been dead for three months.”

Azealia explained that she’d dug up and boiled Lucifer “as part of taxidermy”, which is a hobby she’s interested in.

“I don’t know what you think happens when you go to a medical school and you see a skull or skeleton there, it’s the same thing that happens,” she added.

She disclosed that her collection includes the skull of a dead child.

“There are lots of scientific research websites where you can buy human skulls like this one,” she said, holding up the skull on the livestream.

“Oh, my God, you’ve got a skull there,” radio presenter Kyle Sandilands said. 

“This is the skull of a six-year-old girl who died of head trauma,” Azealia replied.

Kyle’s co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson then asked: “Why do you want that?”

Azealia said she “loves bones” and “respects the afterlife”, adding: “I think that the bone is where the energy holds for a person.”

As for what happens to the remains of the dead cat she cooked, Azealia created an altar using the remains of her dead cat.

She also plans to make earrings out of her dead cat’s jaw bones.

This isn’t the first time Azealia has done something this spooky. She admitted in 2015 that she’s a witch and said her interest in magic came from her mother. Then, in December 2016, she shared a bizarre Instagram video showing herself cleaning out a cupboard after three years of apparently sacrificing chickens.

President Trump left a letter for Joe Biden before leaving the White House

It has been confirmed that Donald Trump left a letter for President-elect Joe Biden before departing the White House for the last time as US President despite breaking one of the traditions of transfer of power between presidents by skipping Biden’s inauguration on Wednesday.

White spokesperson Judd Deere confirmed on Wednesday that Trump had written a letter to President-elect Joe Biden and left it for him in the Oval Office’s Resolute Desk.

The Trump White House did not divulge the contents of what Trump left for Biden to read as Presidents usually leave a note of congratulations and support behind in the Oval Office.

The White House did not release contents of Trump’s note: “It’s a letter between 45 and 46,” Deere said.

In 2017, Trump received a letter from President Barack Obama wishing him and his administration good fortune and urging him to ensure that the “instruments of our democracy at least as strong as we found them.”

“We are just temporary occupants of this office,” President Barack Obama wrote. “That makes us guardians of those democratic institutions and traditions – like rule of law, separation of powers, equal protection and civil liberties – that our forebears fought and bled for. Regardless of the push and pull of daily politics, it’s up to us to leave those instruments of our democracy at least as strong as we found them.”

Jack Ma resurfaces again after government cracked down on his businesses

Alibaba Group founder and CEO, Jack Ma has made his first appearance since the Chinese government started cracking down on his business empire.


Suspicions about the whereabouts of China’s richest man, were raised earlier this month, when he missed the recording of Africa’s Business Heroes, a television show on which he was a judge.


Last month, China’s central bank arrested executives from Ant Group, owned by Ma and ordered a major shake-up of the company’s operations.


Before ordering the shakeup of the company, regulators had already stopped Ant Group’s listing on the Hong Kong and Shanghai exchanges.


The listing was supposed to bring in over $37billion to the company.


The shake up from the government came after Ma criticized the Chinese government over how it operated it’s banking system at a public event in Shanghai in October.


 China’s State Administration for Market Regulation announced an investigation into Alibaba over monopolistic practices.


But on Wednesday, January 20, Ma met 100 rural teachers in China via a video meeting on according to local Chinese media.


Ma addressed the teachers as part of one of his charity foundation’s initiatives.


The annual event is usually hosted in the resort city of Sanya, but was held online this year because of Covid-19 restrictions.


Alibaba shares surged 5% on Hong Kong’s stock exchange following the news.


“We cannot meet in Sanya due to the epidemic,” he said in the speech.


“When the epidemic is over, we must find time to make up for everyone’s trip to Sanya, and then we will meet again!”

Joe Biden has been sworn in as the 46th president of the United States of America.

After his swearing-in, he addressed the country for the first time as president and declared to the nation that “democracy has prevailed”

This comes after a chaotic transition where his predecessor Donald Trump denied he won the election and refused to congratulate him, ultimately resulting in violence as Trump supporters invaded the Capitol building two weeks before inauguration day.

“The will of the people has been heard, and the will of the people has been heeded,” Biden said on the West Front of the Capitol.

He added: “We’ve learned again that democracy’s precious, democracy’s fragile. At this hour, my friends, democracy has prevailed.”

Biden also paid tribute to the peaceful transfer of power and the resilience of American democracy, saying: “This is America’s day. This is democracy’s day – a day of history and hope, of renewal and resolve, for crucible for the ages America has tested anew and America has risen to the challenge. Today we celebrate not a candidate, but a cause, the cause of democracy.”

The 78-year-old thanked his predecessors for being at his swearing-in.

Former Presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush attended though Donald Trump and his family did not. Donald Trump’s Vice President, Mike Pence and his wife Karen were at Biden’s inauguration too.

He added that he had spoken to former President Jimmy Carter on the phone the night before. Carter did not attend out of safety reasons because of the COVID pandemic.

Biden also acknowledged the attack that took place on the Capitol two weeks ago, when a pro-Trump mob stormed the building, leading to the death of 5 people.

“Now on this hallowed ground where just a few days ago violence sought to shake the capital’s very foundation. We come together under one nation, under god, indivisible, to transfer the peaceful power as we have for two centuries,” he said.

A spokesperson for Samer Halimeh New York revealed that the ring features a massive emerald-cut center stone flanked with two trapeze cut diamonds. 

While the jeweler is yet to reveal the price, an independent expert estimated that it is worth more than $1 million.

Tiger Woods goes to the hospital for back pain

American Golf legend, Tiger Woods has put his season on hold after undergoing back surgery for the fifth time in his career.

The 15-time major winner, last played at the PNC Championship in December, where he felt “discomfort” in his back.

A statement on his social media channels said he has had a “procedure known as a microdiscectomy to remove a pressurized disc fragment that was pinching his nerve”.

Doctors said the surgery was successful but Woods, 45, will miss a number of PGA Tour events.

“I look forward to begin training and am focused on getting back out on Tour,” he said.

Woods, 45, is expected to be out for around two months, missing the upcoming Farmers Insurance Open from 28-31 January and Genesis Invitational from 18-21 February.

A female Evangelist drags a Pastor to court over fake marriage proposal and fraud

A female evangelist in Adamawa state, Kwanye Tumba, has filed a lawsuit before the Criminal Area Court II in Adamawa state against the Pastor of House Chapel in Karewa, Yola North LGA of the state, Marwa Tumba, for allegedly making fake marital promises to her, squandering her money and then dumping her for another woman.

In her court papers, Tumba told the Honourable Nuhu Musa Garta-led court that she and the 28-year-old pastor met at a prayer meeting at Yolde Pate, a suburb of Yola South LGA in 2019, during which he told her that he saw a vision that she was his wife and he was her husband.

Tumba said the pastor immediately told her to ”sow a seed” so she can key into the vision. She told the court that she began by first sowing a seed of N1,000. She said their relationship blossomed as the man of God began to visit her in her home which she built while working with a Non-Governmental organization. She said it was in the initial stage of their relationship that the clergyman promised to marry her.

A distraught Tumba told the court that while they were courting, the clergyman told her to resign from her place of work and sell off her house before they can get married. She said she did as he said, resigned from her job and sold her house for N500,000. According to her, when the money of the house was paid to her, she immediately transferred the sum of N50,000 as tithe into the account of the pastor and used the remaining money to support the church from time to time until all the money got finished.

She told the court that it got to a time that he asked her to give him the list of all items as provided by tradition for their marriage, which she did. Tumba told the court that the pastor even deceived her to travel to her village in Michika with a promise he will be coming with his family for their introduction. She said she was in her parent’s house in the village for days without him nor his family showing up. She told the court that while in her village, she tried reaching him on phone but he refused to pick up his call. She told the court that she traveled back to Yola and received the shock of her life. Her clergyman boyfriend was nowhere to be found.

She lamented that the clergyman abandoned her after he squandered her money, made her quit her job, sold her only house, and became miserable, saying that she currently lives in one uncompleted building in Yolde Pate and sells vegetables to earn a living.

When the complaint from Tumba was read to the clergyman, he denied all the allegations. The clergyman was in court with another lady whom he had engaged.

The court thereafter adjourned the case till February 4 to enable Tumba to gather her witnesses for cross-examination.

Twelve US National Guard Members have been removed – FBI

Twelve U.S. National Guard members have been removed from securing President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration including two who made extremist statements in posts or texts about the Wednesday event, Pentagon officials said. 

Each of the dozen Guard members were sent back to his or her home state for later investigation either by their chain of command or law enforcement, officials said.

All the 25,000 National Guardsmen now in Washington assisting with security at Wednesday’s presidential inauguration are being vetted by the FBI.

Two U.S. officials also told The Associated Press that all 12 were found to have ties with right-wing militia groups or posted extremist views online.

Two of the Guard members had made what Pentagon officials called an “inappropriate” text and comment while the other 10, officials said, had engaged in questionable behavior unrelated to extremism.

One of the Guard members was reported through the chain of command, the other was reported through an anonymous tip line, according to Jonathan Hoffman, the chief Pentagon spokesman.

The other 10 Guard members were flagged by the FBI’s broad vetting process that looks at more than just whether there are ties to extremism.

“These are vetting efforts that identify any questionable behavior in the past or any potential link to questionable behavior, not just related to extremism,” Hoffman said.

“If there’s any identification or anything whatsoever that needs to be looked into, out of an abundance of caution we automatically pull those personnel off the line, and make sure that they’re not part of the mission set,” said Gen. Daniel Hokanson, the Chief of the National Guard Bureau, at a Pentagon news conference. “And in certain cases we make sure that we get them sent home.”

Hoffman said that Guard commanders are immediately removing any members who are reported to have engaged in questionable behavior and worry about follow-on action later.

“We’re not even asking what the flag was we’re just removing them,” said Hoffman.

“We’re not taking any chances,” said Hoffman. “We’ll ask questions later and we will ascertain whether any action needs to be taken by the law enforcement or by their chain of command.”

The inauguration rehearsal comes after a false alarm briefly interrupted the rehearsal after a fire in a homeless encampment roughly a mile away sent a plume of smoke into the air and caused security concerns in an already jittery city.

During the rehearsal, a mock of Biden and his wife, Jill were used, while the security services detailed and rehearsed what will happen at every turn and move of the Bidens.

Victor Osimhen tops football transfers in the World – FIFA

Victor Osimhen’s big-money move to Napoli from Lille has been listed among the top 10 transfers in 2020 by the world football governing body, FIFA.

Recall the Nigerian striker, 22,  became Nigeria’s most expensive player after signing a five-year deal worth €50 million (£45m/$59m) in July 2020. 

In its Global Transfer Market Report, world football’s governing body said that the total amount spent on transfer fees of $5.63 billion was down by $1.7 billion on 2019, a fall of nearly a quarter to the lowest cumulative amount since 2016.

It was revealed in the report that English clubs spent by far the most, with transfer fees totalling some $1.63 billion, followed by Italian clubs who spent a combined $731.5 million on international moves. Spanish clubs received the most with $785.7 million.

Without giving a specific figure, FIFA said that Chelsea spent the most of any club in Europe ahead of Manchester United and Manchester City, followed by Barcelona, Juventus and Leeds United.

Meanwhile, Manchester City reported the most outgoing transfers of any club, with 45, two more than Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb and Watford.

FIFA registered a total of 17,077 international transfers, compared to 18,047 in 2019 and the first decline from year to year since 2010.

There were still more transfers than in all of 2018, but FIFA said “the downward trend is clearly due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.”

The report lists the top 10 transfers in the men’s game, with Kai Havertz’s move from Bayer Leverkusen to Chelsea featuring prominently alongside the likes of Arthur Melo’s transfer from Barcelona to Juventus, Victor Osimhen going from Lille to Napoli, Bruno Fernandes joining Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon and Ruben Dias leaving Benfica for Manchester City.

Harry Brant, Peter Brant’s son, dies age 24

The 24-year-old son of billionaire Peter Brant and supermodel Stephanie Seymour has died of a drug overdose.

Fashion Model Harry Brant was found dead on Sunday, January 17, from an accidental overdose of prescription medication, his distraught parents have said.

In a statement given to the New York Post, Mr and Mrs Brant said Harry was “just days away from re-entering rehab” for his addiction.

The statement from his family reads: “We will forever be saddened that his life was cut short by this devastating disease.

A married female teacher had doggy-style sex in a field with one of her pupils, later threaten to “bring him down”

A married female teacher had sex with one of her pupils doggy-style in a field, then later told him she would “bring him down” if he ever told anyone, a court heard on Monday, January 18.

Kandice Barber, 35, returned to court for another trial after the court heard a jury had previously convicted her of sending the same boy a topless picture of herself and sexually communicating with him.

The 35-year-old was on trial on Monday, Jan 18, and accused of three counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity between September 27, 2018, and October 20, 2018.

Richard Milne, opening the case for the prosecution, said: “You will hear in due course of topless photographs sent by Ms Barber to the complainant. You will also hear about a video that she made herself of her masturbating herself that she sent to the complainant.

“Members of the jury, you will hear in due course that Ms Barber has been convicted by a jury of sending that video, her masturbating herself, to the complainant and included having sexual communication with the complainant.

“Those matters are not on your charge sheet. That count simply reflected the offence that another jury have found Ms Barber guilty of. The issue for you to decide is not about whether there was sexual communication, not about whether she sent him a video.”

The jury, sitting at Amersham Law Courts, was told that they had to determine whether Barber had engaged in two sex acts with the boy and also had full sex with him, Daily Star reports.

Barber had taken the boy’s phone number, but he had saved her number under a male name to hide her true identity from others as she started to send texts to him, the prosecution alleged.

“The messages began to get sexual,” Mr Milne said.

“She asked him to meet up with her out of school, somewhere private.

“He suggested some fields that he knew nearby, this was about 5pm or 6pm in the evening. He thought she wanted to go somewhere private because she might be concerned that they might be seen together and that they were teacher and schoolboy.

“She asked him if he wanted to have sex. He said yes and they proceeded to have sex for about five minutes. This was done with her back to him, he bending forward. He pulled down her leggings and lifted her red coat.”

The jury heard that rumours began to swirl around the school where Barber taught and the boy was interviewed by his headmaster, although he denied everything.

Barber had encouraged the boy to delete messages which were stored on his phone allegedly from her, although he had taken photographs of some, which the prosecution said were available for the jury to look at.

In one message read out to jurors, the boy claimed Barber had threatened to “bring him down” if he told anyone about their relationship, which he took to mean that she would accuse him of rape.

The hearing continues.

Joe Biden to offer about 11 million immigrants US citizenship soon

US President-elect Joe Biden is reportedly planning to unveil an immigration bill in his first days as President as he hopes to offer an eight-year path to citizenship for an estimated 11 million people living in the U.S. without legal status. 


Biden will announce legislation on his first days in office to provide a path to citizenship for millions of immigrants in the United States illegally, according to four people briefed on his plans.


The legislation will see Biden deliver a major campaign promise to the Latino voters and other immigrant communities after four years of President Donald Trump’s restrictive policies and mass deportations.


During his election campaign, Biden called Trump’s actions on immigration an “unrelenting assault” on American values and said he would “undo the damage” while continuing to maintain border enforcement.


Under the legislation, those living in the U.S. as of Jan. 1, 2021, without legal status would have a five-year path to temporary legal status, or a green card, if they pass background checks, pay taxes and fulfill other basic requirements. From there, it’s a three-year path to naturalization, if they decide to pursue citizenship, Time reported. 


For some immigrants, the process would be quicker. So-called Dreamers, the young people who arrived in the U.S. illegally as children, as well as agricultural workers and people under temporary protective status, could qualify more immediately for green cards if they are working, are in school, or meet other requirements, the report said.

The bill will reportedly address some of the root causes of migration from Central America to the United States and provides grants for workforce development and English language learning.


Biden is expected to take swift executive actions to reverse other Trump immigration actions, including an end to the prohibition on arrivals from several predominantly Muslim countries.

“This really does represent a historic shift from Trump’s anti-immigrant agenda that recognizes that all of the undocumented immigrants that are currently in the United States should be placed on a path to citizenship,” said Marielena Hincapie, executive director of the National Immigration Law Center, who was briefed on the bill.


If successful, the legislation would be the biggest move toward granting status to people in the country illegally since President Ronald Reagan bestowed amnesty on nearly 3 million people in 1986.

Norway: Several elderly people died few days after receiving the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine

33 elderly people died in Norway within days of receiving their first dose of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine with the country’s health officials saying there is no evidence of a ‘direct link’ between the jab and their deaths.


“All of these patients have had serious underlying illnesses. We can’t say that people die from the vaccine. We can say that it may be coincidental. It is difficult to prove that it’s the vaccine which is the direct cause,” Steinar Madsen, medical director at the Norwegian Medicines Agency (NMA), was quoted as saying by Bloomberg.

Madsen also said that the mild side effects of the vaccine could ‘theoretically tip the patients into a more serious course’ of an illness they already had.

Sigurd Hortemo, the chief physician at the NMA, also said that “reports suggest that common adverse reactions to mRNA vaccines, such as fever and nausea, may have contributed to a fatal outcome in some frail patients.”

Hortemo also said that Norway is vaccinating elderly and people in nursing homes with critical underlying conditions, therefore it is expected that deaths close to the time of inoculation may occur. 

Officials also pointed out that an average of 400 people die every week in nursing and care facilities in Norway, with Madsen adding that the reported deaths made up around 1 in 1,000 of the people vaccinated at care homes. 

All deaths within the first few days of receiving a vaccine are assessed, the Norwegian Medicines Agency said in a statement. 

Reported side effects of the Pfizer vaccine in Norway include fatigue, nausea, dizziness, and muscle pain.

Over the weekend, the Norwegian Medicines Agency reported that of the fatalities, 13 had been autopsied and showed signs of suffering such side effects.

Over 1600 fresh COVID19 cases, recorded in Nigeria yesterday

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC says 1617 fresh cases of COVID19 was recorded in Nigeria on Monday, January 18.

According to the health agency, Lagos recorded 776 fresh cases, the highest for the day.

Other places with fresh cases include Kaduna-147,  Kwara-131, FCT-102, Plateau-78, Edo-59, Ogun-53, Osun-45, Rivers-37, Taraba-36, Nasarawa-34, Adamawa-33, Kano-26, Delta-20, Ebonyi-16, Bayelsa-11, Gombe-11 and Borno-2.

Nigeria now has 112,004 confirmed cases of the disease.

89,939 patients have been successfully treated and discharged while 1,449 deaths have sadly been recorded.

Jack Wilshere signs short-term deal with Bournemouth

English club, Bournemouth have signed a short-term deal with former Arsenal, West Ham and England player, Jack Wilshere.


 Wilshere trained with Bournemouth after leaving Hammers last year.

The 29-year-old had been training with the club and has impressed manager, Jason Tindall  to award him with a short-term contract.

Wilshere had a loan spell with Bournemouth during the 2016/2017 Premier League season, making 27 appearances as they finished ninth.


“It feels great to be back and I can’t wait to get started,” Wilshere told afcbTV.

“From the minute I walked through the door three weeks ago, it felt natural and like I had never been away.


 Manager Jason Tindall, reacting to the deal said;


“I know a lot of the players and staff here and I’m pleased they allowed me to train initially, and then it just went from, there.


“I’ve been impressed by the coaching staff, the way they work and the ambitions of the club to get back in the Premier League.


“We all share the same ambitions and I’m looking forward to playing my part in helping achieve those.”


“He’s had his injuries for a long time now it seems. He played well in his loan spell at Bournemouth. I think he will do a good job for them as they look to return to the Premier League.

Lagos State gets courts approval to auction impounded vehicles

The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit has secured a Court Order authorising it to publicly auction 88 vehicles impounded by the Agency for contravening the One-Way Traffic Law and forfeited to the Government by an order of a Lagos State Mobile Court.

Chairman of the Agency, CSP Shola Jejeloye, disclosed that the public auction of the 88 vehicles impounded by the enforcement team of the Agency in different parts of the State, would hold in line with COVID-19 protocols on Wednesday, 20th of January, 2021, at the Agency’s Car Park (Behind Shoprite), Alausa, Ikeja.

CSP Jejeloye said, “The offenders were arraigned before the Lagos Mobile Court and found guilty of the said crime which resulted in the forfeiture of their vehicles to the State government by the Court in line with Part (3) item (27) of the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law of 2018”.

He urged all motorists to desist from driving against traffic (one-way) as the penalty is outright forfeiture of such vehicle to the government without an option of fine.

The Taskforce Chairman averred that other traffic offenders caught plying BRT corridors or those causing obstruction to other road users were also arraigned and fined by Lagos State Mobile Court at Bolade, Oshodi.

While reiterating the State government’s zero-tolerance for the violation of the law under any guise, the Chairman maintained that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu has directed the Agency to continue the prosecution of traffic offenders until sanity is restored on Lagos roads and law-abiding citizens are allowed to commute without being impeded by unlawful individuals

Nigeria will get $10m aid from Canada to tackle insecurity

Simard made this announcement when he visited the Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, in Abuja. There, he stressed the need to build the capacity of personnel of the Police Force, among other things to diminish violence.

The Head, Press and Public Relations Unit of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Odutayo Oluseyi, in a statement at the weekend, quoted Simard as saying that Nigeria is a multi-faceted developing country, with insecurity posing a great challenge to its growth.

The High Commissioner said this has become a thing of worry and has necessitated their advocacy.

He applauded the Police for the overwhelming services rendered to him since he came into the country.

Dingyadi said the cordial relationship between Nigeria and Canada has grown stronger over the years.

He said Canada’s quest and support in promoting human rights, peace and unity, not only in Nigeria but in Africa at large, cannot be over-emphasised.

The minister said the Nigerian government has put every mechanism in place to make sure that no individual’s right is tampered, as well as ensure the security of lives and properties of the citizenry.

Nigerian Soldiers regains the military base seized by Boko Haram insurgents in Borno

A military base which was seized by combined forces of Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram was regained over the weekend by troops. 

The reinforcement team of the terrorists which wielded machine-guns mounted on trucks, had seized Marte – a town 93 kilometres from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital and the military base in the community on Friday night.

ISIL claimed responsibility for the attack via a statement it posted on its Amaq news channel. The terrorist group claimed that seven people were killed and one person captured by its fighters who seized weapons, ammunition and six four-wheel-drive vehicles and also burnt down the army barracks. 

While this was an unconfirmed claim, it was learnt that troops “tactically withdrew” to defend against the attack from outside Marte. Backed by aerial support, troops ambushed the reinforcement team of the terrorists before dislodging them.

The Defence Headquarters said it eliminated scores of terrorists and destroyed their gun trucks.

Coordinator Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche said; 

“After successfully repelling a Boko Haram/ Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists’ attack on Marte, with the destruction of seven gun trucks by the combined ground and air operations, the Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole has obliterated additional six gun trucks and eliminated scores of terrorists who were attempting to reinforce their colleagues in the attack.

“This occurred on the night of 15 January through to the early hours of 16 January 2021 as the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) helicopter gunships engaged the convoy of ISWAP gun trucks as they approached Marte axis for reinforcement.

“The helicopters delivered accurate hits in their multiple waves of attack, obliterating no fewer than six additional gun trucks, which were seen engulfed in flames across the battlespace.

“Several other terrorists were mopped-up in follow-on attacks as the helicopter gunships continued to strafe the fleeing ISWAP elements.

“The Armed Forces of Nigeria, operating in concert with other security agencies and stakeholders, will sustain the offensive against the enemies of our great nation.”

Chief of Army Staff Gen Tukur Buratai also praised the soldiers for recapturing the military base.

Rotimi Amaechi sported with crutches last weekend (photos)

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi was spotted walking with crutches over the weekend after suffering a hairline fracture which is a tiny crack in a bone caused by repetitive stress or force often from overuse and mostly caused by repeatedly jumping up and down or running long distances.

The Minister walked with the aid of crutches during the commissioning of an orphanage home and Arabic School in Kaita Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Amaechi’s close associate and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze lashed out at Nigerians who gloated over the photos and further stated that the former Rivers Governor neither had hemiplegia scissors gait, planter fasciitis, knee arthritis or lower motor neuron lesion.

He told The Nation; 

“I had a hairline fracture on 31st December, 2020 but I have been working with it all these weeks before the public pictures showing me with crutches. Nobody should express any fear as my doctors are on top of it”.

Mesut Ozil has officially confirmed his move to Fenerbahce, bringing to an end his seven-and-a-half year stay at Arsenal. 

The 32-year-old German midfielder, who joined the Gunners from Real Madrid in 2013 fell out of coach Mikel Arteta’s plans since he took charge in December 2019. He will now join Turkish club, Fenerbahce, on a free transfer after his £350,000-a-week Gunners contract was terminated.

Jay Y. Lee, Samsung Vice Chairman, sentenced to prison for bribery and embezzlement

Samsung vice chairman and heir to the global phone brand, Lee Jae-yong is going to prison, after a Seoul High Court in South Korea sentenced him to two and half years behind bars after finding him guilty of embezzlement and bribery. 

He was taken into custody following the verdict, and his imprisonment puts the future of the company in jeopardy. 


According to reports, Lee, also known as Jay Y. Lee, was caught up in a massive influence-peddling scandal that brought down the government of former South Korean President Park Geun-hye, that resulted in the imprisonment of Park for up to two decades.


Back in 2017, Lee was found guilty of bribery and other corruption charges in and sentenced to five years in prison at the time, but walked free after less than a year when an appeals court threw out some of the charges and suspended his sentence.

Lee’s return to prison comes at a critical time for Samsung. His father Lee Kun-hee, the company’s chairman, died last year after suffering a heart attack in 2014 .

 
Samsung has declined to comment about the sentencing, instead referring to a statement from Lee’s attorneys.


“This case is, in essence, a violation of corporation’s rights to freedom and property by the former president abusing her power,” said Injae Lee, the lawyer leading the vice chairman’s defense team.


 “I find the court’s decision regrettable.”


Lee’s legal troubles aren’t over as he faces a separate trial over a controversial 2015 merger that helped him tighten control over the company.

NewYork: Naked man electrocuted during fight on subway tracks

A naked man was electrocuted on subway tracks in Harlem after he pushed another man onto the tracks and fought with a third man who tried to help, police said.


It had to take the action of a good Samaritan to displace the naked man.

Around 4 p.m. the man completely unclothed despite the cold in New York right now, appeared on the platform of the Central Park North/110th St. station and began gyrating and dancing next to random people. Eyewitnesses say he seemed mentally challenged.

“He came up to dance on me, but I told him to get lost,” said a witness to NY Daily News, who said he had seen the naked man at the station before and believed him to be homeless.


Then the naked man found another person on the station and began dancing next to him.


“That man felt disrespected, so he squared up like he was going to fight the naked man,” said the witness. 


“When he [the naked man] saw he wanted to fight, he started hitting him like crazy.”


As the mental man was beating him, a train approached the station.


“The man just lost his balance and the naked man was able to push him into the train,” said the witness. “He fell in a way that knocked him temporarily unconscious.”

 The good Samaritan, angry at having his rescue efforts interrupted, “just whacked the hell” out of the nude man, said the witness.


“It was a heavy punch,” the witness said. “That’s when the naked man fell.”

The naked man hit his shoulder against the third rail, said a second witness. The third rail carries 625 volts of electricity — more than enough to instantly kill anyone. He died instantly


“I don’t even want to think about it,” said the first witness. “He didn’t die with any pain though. He died immediately. The shock was just too much.”


Police confirmed the incident, and said no body will be charged.

A Pennsylvania woman accused of stealing Nancy Pelosi’s laptop during the Capitol riots for Russia

A Pennsylvania woman charged in the January 6 riots at the US Capitol is now being investigated by the FBI over claims she stole a Laptop from the office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and attempted to sell it in Russia.

Riley June Williams, 22, of Harrisburg, was charged on Sunday with entering a restricted building and disorderly conduct after she was captured in footage taking part in the riot. 

In a court affidavit detailing the allegations against her, FBI Agent John Lund said that a former romantic partner of Williams – identified only as W1 – had also come forward to tell the bureau she had stolen either a laptop or hard drive from Pelosi’s office during the insurrection.

The witness told investigators that friends of Williams had played them a video that showed her stealing the device.

They further claimed that Williams, a care worker, then ‘intended to send the computer device to a friend in Russia, who then planned to sell the device to SVR, Russia’s foreign intelligence service.’  

According to the witness, the plan fell through for unknown reasons and Williams is either still in possession of the device or has since destroyed it.

Lund writes: “The transfer of the computer device to Russia fell through for unknown reasons and Williams still has the computer device or destroyed it.

“This matter remains under investigation.”

Williams has not yet been apprehended by police for those charges, with a warrant currently out for her arrest.

‘It appears that WILLIAMS has fled,’ according to the affidavit, which was signed Sunday and posted publicly after 9 p.m. ‘According to local law enforcement officers in Harrisburg, WILLIAMS’ mother stated that WILLIAMS packed a bag and left her home and told her mother she would be gone for a couple of weeks. WILLIAMS did not provide her mother any information about her intended destination.’

In video footage captured by British broadcaster ITV, Williams can be seen inside the Capitol, wearing a green T-shirt and brown trench coat, holding a zebra-print bag.

She was heard repeatedly yelling, ‘Upstairs, upstairs, upstairs,’ as she directs other intruders to proceed up a staircase.

She has now called out those who slammed her for cooking a dead cat.

She told them that they eat animals all the time and wear animal fur yet want to act all righteous and call her out because she cooked an already dead cat.

She added that the same people calling her out for cooking a dead cat are still the ones who are champions for abortion and see nothing wrong with killing a fetus.

The rapper has been known to speak against animal cruelty, consuming of meat and abortions and it appears her action was a stunt to make people angry so she could pass her message.

Joe Biden to reverse about 12 executive orders signed by Trump soon

US  President-elect, Joe Biden plans to sign roughly a dozen executive orders on his first day in the White House, that will show a stunning rebuke of outgoing US President Donald Trump’s policies .


The executive orders include rejoining the Paris climate accord and ending the travel ban on predominantly Muslim countries, according to a memo from incoming chief of staff Ron Klain released Saturday night, January 16.


Biden will also sign orders halting evictions and student loan payments during the coronavirus pandemic and issuing a mask mandate on all federal property.


 Klain’s Saturday memo, which was first reported by the New York Times reads;

“During the campaign, President-elect Biden pledged to take immediate action to start addressing these crises and build back better,” Klain writes.


 “As president, he will keep those promises and sign dozens of executive orders, presidential memoranda, and directives to Cabinet agencies in fulfillment of the promises he made.”


The memo also outlines that Biden plans to send Congress a large-scale immigration plan within his first 100 days in office which would offer a pathway to citizenship for the millions of undocumented immigrants currently in the United States.


Remember this week Biden announced his first legislative priority – a $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package that included direct payments to Americans.


“Full achievement of the Biden-Harris Administration’s policy objectives requires not just the executive actions the president-elect has promised to take, but also robust Congressional action,” Klain wrote.


The day after Biden is inaugurated, according to Klain, he will “sign a number of executive actions to move aggressively to change the course of the COVID-19 crisis and safely re-open schools and businesses, including by taking action to mitigate spread through expanding testing, protecting workers, and establishing clear public health standards.”


And on January 22, Biden will direct his Cabinet agencies to “take immediate action to deliver economic relief to working families bearing the brunt of this crisis,” Klain writes.


From January 25 to February 1, Klain writes that Biden will issue orders on everything from directing his government to buy American products to beginning to fulfill promises to reform the criminal justice system.


During that week, Biden will also direct the federal government to determine how to reunite children separated from their families at the US-Mexico border, as well as sign additional orders aimed at tackling climate change and expanding access to health care.


“Of course, these actions are just the start of our work,” Klain writes. 


“Much more will need to be done to fight COVID-19, build our economy back better, combat systemic racism and inequality, and address the existential threat of the climate crisis. But by February 1st, America will be moving in the right direction on all four of these challenges — and more — thanks to President-elect Joe Biden’s leadership.”

No enough freezers to store Pfizer vaccine- Babatunde Salako, says

As Nigeria expects to receive 100, 000 doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine by the end of January, the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR) says there are not enough freezers to store the doses of Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine when they are delivered.

The vaccine is required to be stored at minus 70 degrees Celsius.

In an interview with The Punch, Babatunde Salako, the director-general of NIMR, said while there are freezers in the country suitable for storing the vaccines, they are currently occupied with other medical supplies that require low-temperature storage. Salako said even if adjustments are made, the facilities would only be able to contain a few thousands of the vaccine.

“Our facilities can hold Pfizer vaccines at -70 degrees but we don’t have enough of such freezers and the ones we have are even full at the moment. We even just got one that we have yet to install but how many samples can it even hold?

Even if we rearrange things, I doubt if we can store more than a few hundred or thousands.

There are many -80 freezers around in the research institutes and universities but the point is that many of them have samples inside them. So, even if we evacuate, I don’t think we will all be able to do more than a few thousands.”he said

The NIMR boss said the Federal government should consider procuring other vaccine brands like Oxford/AstraZeneca which can be stored at higher temperatures.

“The problem is not just about storing vaccines but moving it to the rural areas and maintaining that same temperature. For example, if you land in Lagos and you store it at -70 and it has to be transported over the creek somewhere, how do you move them? There are other ways but they will be very costly. They can store them with liquid nitrogen or even dry ice but it will cost a lot of money,” he said.

But I think all the vaccines are now being deployed in many countries. So, we can do all of them rather than do just one considering the storage capacity for Pfizer. Even the government knows that we don’t have enough space but we can be taken in batches.”he said

Russian opposition leader, Alexey Navalny, was arrested by police in Moscow on Sunday, January 17, moments after his return to the country five months after alleging the Russian government tried killing him by poisoning him with the lethal nerve agent Novichok.

Navalny was taken away by police officers without explanation, his spokesperson Kira Yarmysh tweeted. 


His lawyer, who came in from Berlin, was not allowed to accompany the opposition leader, she said.


Navalny has been a huge critic and public thorn in Russian President Vladimir Putin’s side, with the international community concerned over his safety in the country.

After his poisoning with military-grade Novichok in August, a joint investigation by CNN and the group Bellingcat implicated the Russian Security Service (FSB) in the poisoning, as the investigation showed  how an elite unit at the secret agency followed Navalny’s team throughout a trip to Siberia, where Navalny was poisoned and fell ill on a flight to Moscow.


The investigation also found that this unit, which included chemical weapons experts, had followed Navalny on more than 30 trips to and from Moscow since 2017.


 Russia completely denies involvement in Navalny’s poisoning despite the fact that Russia is the only country that still products and posseses Novichok, a military grade nerve agent that paralyzes and ultimately kills a person that ingests it.


 Putin said in December that if Russian security services had wanted to kill Navalny, they “would have finished” the job.


Navalny was placed on the country’s federal wanted list last month for violating terms of probation related to an old fraud case, which Navalny claims is Putin’s way of getting rid of him.


 A statement on Sunday from the Federal Penitentiary Service confirmed Navalny had been detained, and said he would remain in custody until a court hearing later this January, according to TASS.


Live footage from Russian broadcaster TV Rain showed Navalny talking with dark-uniformed and masked officers at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport, then kissing his wife Yulia before walking away with them.

Navalny and his wife were returning from a five-month stay in Germany, where he had been recovering from the Novichok poisoning. They landed at Sheremetyevo just after 8 p.m. local time (12 p.m. ET).

“This is the best day in the past five months,” Navalny told journalists at the airport just before his arrest.


“Everyone is asking me if I’m scared. I am not afraid,” he said.

 “I feel completely fine walking towards the border control. I know that I will leave and go home because I’m right and all the criminal cases against me are fabricated.”


Navalny had originally been scheduled to land at Vnukovo airport on Sunday, where a crowd of hundreds of supporters and journalists waited to greet him but at the last minute the flight diverted to Sheremetyevo without giving the passengers any explanation.


Police were also shown on state TV  arresting supporters of Navalny at Vnukovo, who came out to celebrate Navalny’s arrival even in temperatures of around -20 degrees Celsius (-4 degrees F).

Before his flight on Russian carrier Pobeda took off from Berlin on Sunday, Navalny thanked the other passengers. “Thanks to you all, I hope we will get there fine,” he said according to a live feed from TV Rain. “And I’m sure everything will be absolutely great.”

Several leaders in Europe have condemned  Navalny’s detention.


“The detainment of Alexey Navalny upon arrival in Moscow is unacceptable. I call on Russian authorities to immediately release him,” tweeted Charles Michel, President of the European Council.


The Austrian Ministry of Affairs tweeted that it was “deeply concerned” about Navalny’s detention, adding: “A vibrant civil society and political opposition are cornerstones of all democratic societies. Austria calls for his immediate release and a full & independent investigation into the attack on his life.”


Lithuanian President Gitnas Nauseda, described the arrest as “another evidence of Kremlin’s efforts to systematically abuse human rights and democratic freedoms.”


 Latvia’s Prime Minister Krišj?nis Kari?š also called for his release, writing that “in a democratic society, political differences are settled in discussions, not by force or repression.”


His court hearing has been scheduled for January 29. 


If he is not convicted later in January, he will still face an investigation for a newer fraud case, in which he and his Anti-Corruption Foundation have been accused of misusing donations from supporters.

Antoine Griezmann scored twice only for Oscar de Marcos and Asier Villalibre to reply for the Basques.


In extra-time, Iniaki Williams struck before Messi was red carded, in another humiliating display that will surely see Messi leave the club in disarray.

A teen raped by her grandfather, dies of pregnancy complications

An 11-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped and impregnated by her grandfather, has died after suffering from severe morning sickness in Thailand. 


According to Nation Thailand, the girl died in her mother’s arm on Friday, January 15. The funeral was held at her house in Sahatsakhan district of Kalasin province after the body was taken to Srinagarind Hospital in Khon Kaen for medical examination.

The mother, 33, said that she had divorced from the girl’s father for five years, and acknowledged later that the daughter had been raped by her grandfather.

The mother also mentioned that she had taken her daughter to a hospital in December, and a doctor there had confirmed the girl had an ectopic pregnancy. The girl vomited both food and medicine, she added.

According to the mother, on Friday night, her daughter vomited and trembled with pain and eventually died in her embrace.

Meanwhile, Sahatsakhan police have collected evidence in the girl’s case, and they will soon seek an arrest warrant from the local court.

Wife of embattled FCMB boss, Adam Nuru, is going nowhere o.

The wife of the embattled Managing Director of the First City Monument Bank, Mrs. Hauwa Adam Nuru, has denied plans of seeking to divorce him following the lingering paternity scandal her hubby is enmeshed in.

Mr. Nuru was in the news in December 2020 after several Nigerians petitioned the CBN to take disciplinary action against him over claims he had an illicit affair with a former staff of the bank, Moyo Thomas, and fathered her two children while she was still married to her husband, Tunde Thomas. It was alleged that Mr. Thomas died in December from the shock upon discovering that his two children were fathered by Mr. Nuru.

The management of FCMB has begun an investigation into the matter and Mr. Nuru has since gone on leave. Sahara Reporters last week reported that Mrs. Nuru was on the verge of divorcing him.

However, in a statement released today January 16, Mrs. Nuru, denied the report.

Her statement in part reads

“I want to clarify for the avoidance of doubt that I am still very much with my husband. This fake news was published by an online newspaper in a calculated attempt to further demonise my beloved husband and a loving father.

Let me reiterate that at no time did I contemplate leaving my matrimonial home or filing for divorce as no grounds exist for such”

University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital seperates conjoined female twins (photos)

Cheering news from the University of Ilorin Teaching hospital as a set of conjoined female twins were successfully separated by a team of medical experts on Thursday, January 14.

The babies were separated by a 66-member all Nigerian team of paediatric surgeons, paediatricians, paediatric cardiologist, anaesthetists, cardiothoracic surgeon, nurses, pharmacists, behavioral scientists and many more.  

The team was led by Paediatric surgeon, Prof Lukman Abdul-Rahman who is pictured above carrying the babies.

Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni, 76, wins Presidential election

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, 76, has won a sixth term in office amid vote-rigging claims from his opposition challenger, Bobi Wine. 

The country’s electoral commission announced on Saturday January 16, that Museveni received 58% of votes and Wine 34%, and voter turnout was 52%.

“The electoral commission declares Yoweri Museveni… elected President of the Republic of Uganda,” said election commission chairman Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama.

Byabakama urged the population to “remain calm and accept the outcome of these elections” while reminding those celebrating to be mindful of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wine, a 38-year-old former singer who was hoping to unseat the long-time president as he has been in power since 1986, has dismissed the Thursday election as a “complete sham”.

He claimed victory Friday, asserting that he had video evidence of vote-rigging and saying “every legal option is on the table” to challenge the official election results, including peaceful protests.

Election commission chairman Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama said “the onus is on candidate Kyagulanyi to show how votes are rigged.”

Wine, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi, later took to Twitter to raise an alarm over a military siege at his home as the country.

“They jumped over my fence. They came inside my compound. They are here right now. I don’t know why they’re here. But I’m imagining they are here to harm me. I feel threatened,” said the 38-year-old, who described the invasion as unprecedented and “a siege”.

However, the army’s deputy spokesman Deo Akiiki said the soldiers were there to provide security and had stopped three people who tried to “access the house”.

Lagos State Govt approves reopening of schools Monday, January 18

Lagos state government asks schools

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved for private and public schools in the state to resume from Monday, January 18, 2021.

The decision was reached after “due consultations” with stakeholders, including Governors, Commissioners of Education, Proprietors and heads of institutions, staff unions and students.

Director General, Office of the Education Quality Assurance, OEQA, of the state Ministry of Education, Mrs Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, in a statement on Friday, Jan 15, said the Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo urged all school managers to enforce strict compliance with all subsisting protocols to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

The statement read in part: “I want to convey the approval of Mr Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu that all public and private schools in Lagos State can still resume for 2nd Term 2020 /2021 academic session with effect from Monday 18th January, 2021.

“In view of this, Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo wishes to enjoin all school managers to enforce strict compliance with all subsisting protocols to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the state. I wish you all happy resumption and please stay safe.”

At the meeting, the stakeholders insisted on the compulsory wearing of facemasks by all students, teachers and workers in all schools.

Other guidelines decided on during the meeting included compulsory temperature checks and hand washing facilities at strategic locations in all schools, ensuring constant supply of water and sanitizers and enforcement of maintenance of social distancing and suspension of large gatherings such as assembly and visiting days.

The meeting called for schools to avoid overcrowding, ensure limitations in class sizes and hostel occupancy; availability of functional health clinics with facilities for isolation and transportation of suspected cases to medical facilities.

“These measures which are to ensure safe reopening of schools for academic activities will be subject to constant review as we urge teachers, school administrators and other stakeholders to ensure strict compliance,” FG stated.
