A Master has been accused of beating his apprentice to death over a misunderstanding that ensued between them.
The incident occurred at Auto Parts section of the Trade Fair Market in Lagos. The crowd which gathered at the scene expressed their anger with masters maltreating boys under their care/tutelage. They stated that they will set an example with this.
People were also spotted throwing stones at the suspect’s shop. Watch the video below;

8 more women have accused controversial Malawian Prophet, Shepherd Bushiri of rape.
Court records of the extradition request South Africa sent to Malawi which were exclusively sourced by Mail & Guardian, shared a detailed account of the alleged crimes reportedly committed by the leader of one of the most popular and richest churches on the continent, Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) and his wife, Mary.
Some of the rape charges which dates back to 2016, have been added to charges of fraud, money-laundering, jumping bail and contravention of the foreign currency act that Bushiri was already facing before his escape from South Africa in November last year.
Prosecutors accused him of raping women and girls as young as 16, including two sisters; drugged some, bribed them into silence, and threatened others with murder in six years of jaw-dropping sexual violence.
All the alleged rape cases allegedly took place in and around Pretoria particularly at the Sheraton Hotel, and involve women who allege the rich prophet enticed them into hotels after befriending them and their families at church with offers of special prayers and gifts of cash.
Some of the women later were involved in what could appear to be consensual sexual relations, after Bushiri allegedly promised to marry at least one of them. But the majority, particularly those who were very young, were threatened with death by Bushiri or his bodyguards, the victims claimed. One of the victims reportedly got pregnant, but was forced to terminate the pregnancy.
It was alleged that the ECG church was used as a recruitment service for Bushiri through his network of “sons” and “prophets”. They would eavesdrop, record and engage in subtle conversations with churchgoers to collect information later used by Bushiri to lure women into sexual relations.
The court records stated that Bushiri promised to marry one of the women he raped between May 2015 and June 2016, and allegedly paid her parents substantial sums of money.
Another woman alleges that between June and July 2015, she was raped by Bushiri in his hotel room after “the prophet” took pictures of her in her underwear and in naked poses. He allegedly handed her cash.
Also sharing her experience, one of the women also alleged that she was invited into Bushiri’s hotel room and given a drink that made her dizzy. She fell to the floor, after which Bushiri allegedly took her clothes off and raped her. Another victim was allegedly impregnated and given cash to register a construction company.
The youngest of the victims who are sisters shared the most harrowing incidents. The girls say they were choristers in Bushiri’s church, and he befriended their parents before starting to text them on WhatsApp.
It was alleged that Bushiri first sent his “sons” who took the sisters and their brother to meet him under the pretence that they were going for choir rehearsals, and gave them money. During a second visit, Bushiri handed them huge amounts of cash and told them not to tell anyone. One of the girls said;
“After two weeks, my family and I met prophet Bushiri in his church after the evening service that ended at 11pm.
“My parents and I were very excited to meet with the prophet and his wife, prophetess Mary Bushiri. Prophet Bushiri told my parents he wanted to sponsor my sister and me to start recording at his studio in Sandton [Johannesburg] and that he was going to be our spiritual father.”
They claim to have met him in July 2016 at the Southern Sun Hotel in Arcadia, Pretoria.
A man named “Aubrey” who appeared numerous times in the court papers as one of the people scouting women for Bushiri, was reportedly sent to pick up the young women from their home where they were with their mother.
On being informed by his daughters that Bushiri had sent for them, their father was unhappy but Aubrey spoke to him on the phone and he consented to the arrangement.
At the hotel, Bushiri allegedly kept the sisters in separate rooms, where he later prayed for them and gave them cash. He allegedly gave one of the sisters and the brother R5, 000 each. The other sister told prosecutors she was paid R10, 000.
A second meeting took place at the Sheraton Hotel, where Bushiri allegedly gave the siblings R20, 000 in January 2017. Bushiri invited one of the sisters to the Sheraton. She was taken to one of the upper floors by Aubrey who left promptly.
She said;
“Usually, Aubrey and one or two bodyguards are always in the suite, but that day they were not there. Prophet Bushiri came from the bathroom. He greeted me and asked me how everything was. I told him everything was fine. He told me he would pray for me to get distinctions and open doors of blessings in my life.
“When praying for me … he started to touch my body and private parts. I started to push his hand away. He continued to touch me. I asked him to stop. I screamed. I was wearing a long dress. He used force to pull me to the bed. He pulled my underwear and threw it away.
“I was screaming all the time. He put his hand over my mouth and nose. I was fighting back. He overpowered me. He put his penis inside my vagina and … raped me. I kept screaming and crying because it was extremely painful because I was a virgin. He continued raping me, and I was screaming, fighting and crying. When he finished, he stopped. I noticed drops of blood coming from my vagina.”
After the rape, the victim who was 18 at that time alleged that Bushiri threatened to kill her if she reported the incident or told anyone, and gave her R10, 000. In June 2018, her sister told her Bushiri had raped her too and that’s when the two sisters agreed to report the incidents to their parents.
Bushiris’ extradition trial is expected to start in earnest in Malawi courts next week after chief resident magistrate Patrick Chirwa refused to recuse himself. Bushiri’s lawyers had objected to his handling of the case, citing possible bias because of the magistrate’s involvement in issuing the warrant of arrest police used to arrest the Bushiris.

Fuel marketers in the country have increased the price of Automotive Gas Oil also known as diesel, to N265 per litre.
The price of diesel first rose to a new high of N250 per litre on February 24, with businesses taking a beating on the back of rising energy costs.
Punch reported that some filling stations in Lagos State were selling the product for between N248 and N265 per litre on Sunday March 21, while some placed the price between N220 and N245 per litre.
It was learnt that Mobil filling station along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and Nipco at Fadeyi axis of Ikorodu Road increased the pump price of diesel to N265 per litre; while Forte Oil at Onipanu sold it for N255 per litre.
The National Bureau of Statistics in its latest AGO price watch report, also said the average price paid by consumers for diesel increased by 1.29 per cent to N227.76 in February from to N224.86 in January.
The report read;
“States with the highest average price of diesel were Zamfara (N268.78), Adamawa (N263.33) and Kebbi (N257.50). States with the lowest average price of diesel were Osun (N206.50), Ekiti (N207.86) and Plateau (N208.57).”
National Operations Controller of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Mr Mike Osatuyi who commented on the development said the prices of diesel and kerosene had been increased because of the rise in crude oil prices.
He said;
“Marketers are importing diesel because it has been deregulated and the pump price is based on the current crude oil prices. We get foreign exchange from the black market to import the product.”

Three policemen have been shot dead after being attacked by unknown gunmen at a Police checkpoint in Agu Eze amaogudu, Abiriba, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State.
The dead policemen have been identified as identified Inspector Austin Ugwu, Inspector Longinus Ugochukwu, PC Ama Ifeanyi.
Deputy Governor of Abia State, Rt Hon Ude Oko Chukwu who visited the community, assurred them of protection. He also called for community vigilance and support to security agents while addressing residents of the community at Orie Akwa square.
He said;
“The government is saddened by the unfortunate attack of this morning which led to the loss of lives of police officers at Agu Eze checkpoint and my boss, Governor Ikpeazu, on receiving the news asked me to come here and assure you that we will do everything possible to apprehend the perpetrators of the dastardly act and protect Ndi Abiriba and all law abiding people in the state.
“We call on you to maintain vigilance in order to fish out criminals and hoodlums who may want to come here to attack innocent people as they go about their their legitimate businesses.
“Government will give you all the necessary support and we have spoken to the security authorities to avoid indiscriminate arrests but ensure a painstaking investigation that will ensure that only those responsible for the dastardly act are brought to justice as quickly as possible.”

Ten people, including a police officer, were killed after a gunman opened fire in a grocery store in Boulder, Colorado, on Monday, March 22.
The incident began at about 14:30 local time when the suspect entered the supermarket and began firing.
Police officers, who rushed to the scene got involved in a gunfight and were being fired at with multiple rounds through at least 3:21 p.m. local time.
Shoppers and employees had to dive for cover or run to safety during the shooting.
The attack in Boulder ended with police detaining an injured suspect at the King Soopers market, where police said there was no ongoing threat to the public.
Boulder Police Chief Maris Herold did not share any information on his identity, the type of weapon used or any possible motive.
“We will work around the clock to get this accomplished,” she said, adding that such a complex investigation will take at least five days to complete.
Chief Maris also identified the slain officer as 51-year-old Eric Talley, who had been with the department since 2010.
Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty said Talley’s life was “cut much too short,” and said a “painstaking investigation is already underway.”
Eric Talley’s sister Kirstin took to Twitter Monday night to express her grief over her brother’s death.
Kirstin said, “Officer Eric Talley is my big brother. He died today in the Boulder shooting. My heart is broken. I cannot explain how beautiful he was and what a devastating loss this is to so many. Fly high my sweet brother. You always wanted to be a pilot (damn color blindness). Soar.
The fatal shooting at the King Soopers store comes less than a week after shooting attacks at three spas in the Atlanta area left eight people dead.

Former Nigerian international and Chelsea icon, John Obi Mikel has said he won’t apologize to ex-Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg over the 2012 racism row.
In October 2012, Mikel’s former team-mate Ramires claimed he heard Clattenburg say ‘shut up you monkey’ to Mikel in Chelsea’s 3-2 defeat by Manchester United at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.
Because of the allegations, Clattenburg missed four weekends of Premier League matches before he was cleared by the Football Association, while the police also dropped their own inquiry.
Chelsea accepted the findings and said the club regretted the impact the saga had on Clattenburg.
Speaking to The Athletic in a recent interview, Mikel said it’s not in his place to apologise to Clattenburg because it was Ramires who made the claims to him.
‘In the heat of the game, players go through emotions,’ Mikel said. ‘Your colleague said they heard something, but they may not have heard right. Did he say it or not? I didn’t know.
‘But if your colleague comes up to you, of course you’re going to trust what they say, someone you see and speak to every day.
‘So I can’t apologise for something that my colleague said he (Clattenburg) did.’
Ramires was the only player on the pitch who claimed to have heard the abuse and the FA said that the complaint was made in good faith.
Mikel explained that after speaking to Ramires, he was left furious and went after Clattenburg in the tunnel at Stamford Bridge.
‘I lost it. I was so angry,’ Mikel said. ‘We’d lost the game as well. There were a few decisions he’d given that cost us the game. Everything just boiled up. That was it.
‘I wanted to confront him, find out if he did say that word. I wasn’t really allowed to speak to him, he didn’t want to.
‘It was crazy in the tunnel. I don’t think anyone at the club had seen me like that before. I had lots of people trying to hold me back… the players, the club. Everyone came out. It was a case of, “try and stop me”. I wanted to break down that door to the referee’s room and ask him questions. I was livid.’
The FA investigation, upon clearing Clattenburg, charged Mikel with misconduct. He was banned for three matches and fined £60,000.
In a statement given after he was cleared, Clattenburg said: ‘I am looking forward to putting this behind me and concentrating on refereeing in the Premier League and other competitions.
‘The messages of encouragement from those inside and outside of the game have helped me through the most stressful time of my professional life.
‘To know you were innocent of something but that there was the opportunity for it to wreck your career was truly frightening.’
Meanwhile, Mikel Obi currently plays for Championship side Stoke, who are 11th in the league.

Popular Ibadan-based Islamic cleric Alhaji Taofeek Akewugbagold has withdrawn the lawsuit he filed against the suspected abductors of his twin children in April 2020.
LIB had reported the story of how the twin babies were abducted from the cleric’s home. The twins whose mother waited 12 years after marriage before she gave birth to them, were released after the abductors collected N 4 million in ransom. Police investigations led to the release of some suspects. Two of the suspects were former employees of the cleric.
Shortly after their arrest, the cleric instituted a lawsuit at the Oyo state High court against the suspects. However, he has asked the court to withdraw the suit he filed against the suspected abductors of his twins.
At the resumed hearing of the suit yesterday March 23, Akewugbagold told the court that he had forgiven the suspects and wanted the suit struck out.

The Imo State government through the state’s Housing Corporation has revoked 49 plots of land allegedly belonging to Mrs. Geraldine Obinali, the elder sister of immediate past Governor of the state, Senator Rochas Okorocha.
According to the corporation, the parcels of land were allegedly acquired by Mrs. Obinali, using Jessdean Ventures Limited of No. 3 Okeoma close Tran Egbu Layout.
The revocation is contained in a statement by the General Manager/Chief Executive Officer of the Housing Corporation, Mr. Chinedu Mbakwe-Obi and media aide to the General Manager, Enwerem Prince. The statement said the revoked plots in Redemption Estate Phase III were issued to Geraldine Obinali (nee Okorocha) for the sole purpose of providing infrastructural facilities which was never carried out.
The statement in part reads
“Sequel to all legal actions taken to notify Jessdean Ventures Ltd of No 3 Okeoma close Trans Egbu Layout Owerri owned by Geraldine Obinali, we hereby revoke the following plots numbers in Redemption Housing Estate Phase III issued to her for the sole purpose of providing infrastructural facilities in the estate which was never carried out.
“Below are some of the affected plots numbers: RHE III/258,424, 425,422,420,419, 418, 417, 416, 415,414, 403, 421,244,244A and 245 among others.
“The general public is hereby being notified that if anybody had transacted on any of the above-numbered plots, they are to immediately come to the Imo State Housing Corporation with original papers for ratification.”

A man, identified as Gbenro, has been accused of strangling his wife, Wayesola, as she slept.
Their daughter, Fayoke, who witnessed the incident, narrated how her father killed her mother.
The incident was said to have happened in the early hours of the morning at Salvation Army Street, Odoj?mu, Ondo, Akure.
Fayoke said she saw her father strangling her mother when she got up to ease herself but couldn’t do anything because her father threatened to kill her, The Nation reports.
It was Fayoke’s cry of horror that attracted neighbours, who arrived to find Wayesola had died.
Neighbours immediately locked the man indoors to stop him from escaping, then they called the deceased’s brother.
Ondo Police spokesperson, ASP Tee- Leo Ikoro, said the matter has been transferred to the state CID for further investigation.

Female footballers from Germany are incensed after a judge punished a sexist coach by ordering him to coach women footballers after he stated that female referees have no place on a football field.
Heiko Vogel, Borussia Monchengladbach’s Under-23 coach was found guilty of making the inappropriate sexist comments towards female referee officials Vanessa Arlt and Nadine Westerhoff on January 30.
After reviewing the case, Vogel was hit with a fine of €1,500, a two-game ban and told to complete six female training sessions before June 30 by the court of the West German soccer association (WDFV).
Germany women’s team captain, who also plays for Wolfsburg Alexandra Popp (pictured below) as well as Players from the top two divisions have now voiced their concerns via Instagram, stating: “The question arises as to how the training of a women’s or girls’ team can be defined as punishment.
“There is no value in offering to compensate for such unsporting behaviour by offering to train a women’s team for a few hours.”
The statement added that the judgement “discriminates against all women in sport and especially in football.”
Following the statement, the WDFV vice president Gundolf Walaschewski, has stated that the court has been asked to review the decision.
“There is no room for discrimination either in football or in society,” Walaschewski said.
“The WDFV and the football family in North Rhine-Westphalia are expressly committed to this. That means no tolerance for sexist discrimination and no tolerance for discrimination in general.”
The German football federation (DFB) vice president, Hannelore Ratzeburg, has also reacted, blasting the Court’s ruling .
“It’s incomprehensible to me that training a women’s team is seen as a punishment,” he said.
“I can therefore understand the players’ anger and why they have made themselves heard in public. We have been in talks with the WDFV for several days.
“The fact that the executive committee of the WDFV has ordered a review of the judgement is a correct and necessary sign.”

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has approved a new remote work visa to enable employees from all over the world to live and work in UAE remotely even if the companies are based in another country.
Vice President/Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum made the announcement on Twitter on Sunday, March 21.
“During a cabinet meeting I chaired, we approved a new Remote work Visa that enables employees from all over the world to live and work remotely from the UAE even if their companies are based in another country,” he wrote in a tweet.
This decision comes as the work-from-home policy in UAE has been widely accepted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Back in January, the government also announced citizenship for foreign investors and other gifted professionals to boost its economy amidst the pandemic.

Meghan Markle claimed during her interview with Oprah Winfrey that she and Prince Harry had a private secret wedding in their garden, three days before their Royal wedding.
However, the former official who issued the licence has said that the Duchess of Sussex was “clearly misinformed” when she claimed she and Harry had been wed by the Archbishop of Canterbury in their “backyard”.
Stephen Borton, the former chief clerk at the Faculty Office, said the duchess is “obviously confused”.
Mr Borton said the ceremony described by Meghan in the interview was “not valid” because there were no witnesses and the couple’s home – Nottingham Cottage – was not an authorised venue.
It was more likely the private ceremony was informal exchange of vows or may have just been a practice for the office service itself, according to Mr Borton.
He told The Sun: “They did not marry three days earlier in front of the Archbishop of Canterbury.
“The Special Licence I helped draw up enabled them to marry at St George’s Chapel in Windsor and what happened there on 19 May 2018 and was seen by millions around the world was the official wedding as recognised by the Church of England and the law.
“What I suspect they did was exchange some simple vows they had perhaps written themselves, and which is fashionable, and said that in front of the Archbishop or, and more likely, it was a simple rehearsal.”

Borussia Dortmund have won the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender, Soumaila Coulibaly.
The France youth international, 17, who is represented by Portugal-based sports agency – Epic Sports, has agreed on a pre-contract deal to join the German club in the summer on a free transfer when his contract at PSG expires.
Manchester United, Barcelona, and Juventus were among the clubs willing to sign Coulibaly, but Dortmund moved smartly in the transfer market to land one of the best young talents in Europe for next season.
“It was nice to have so much interest from so many clubs, but I cannot wait to get started with Dortmund,” Coulibaly explained.
“They are a great club with a proven track record of developing some of the best young talents in the world and I aim to do my best for the club and fans.

Top El Salvador’s surfer, Katherine Diaz, who had been preparing for the sport’s Olympic debut this summer, has been struck and killed by lightning during a training session.
The 22-year-old had entered the water to start a training session near her home in El Tunco when she was struck around 5pm on Friday, March 19.
Emergency services and medics were called to try to save her, but Diaz was pronounced dead at the scene.
She was training for the upcoming ISA World Surf Games in El Salvador, which she hoped would lead to qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics, the first Games to include surfing.
“A great athlete who has represented our country has left us,” the Salvadoran Surf Federation said in a post paying tribute to Katherine Diaz on social media. “See you soon, great warrior. El Salvador is in mourning.”
The International Surfing Association paid tribute to Diaz in a Facebook post.
“It is with a heavy heart that the ISA has learned about the passing of El Salvador’s Katherine Diaz,” read the statement. “Katherine embodied the joy and energy that make surfing so special and dear to us all, as a global ambassador of the sport.”

A man has confessed to killing his parents because they asked him to take the family dog for a walk.
The suspect, Benno Neumair, 30, was taken into custody on January 29. His parents, Peter Neumair and Laura Perselli, who are both teachers, went missing in the city of Bolzano in the northern Italian province of South Tyrol earlier this year.
According to Mail Online, Laura’s dead body was later found in Adige river with signs of strangulation while her husband’s body never surfaced, although traces of his blood were found on a nearby bridge.
The victims’ son, who is a bodybuilder has now confessed to the killing saying that he killed his father after a brief fight and then murdered his mother when she walked in on them arguing.
The argument that led to the murder started when the father asked his son to get out of bed and take the family dog out for a walk.
When he refused, the father and son got involved in an argument. Benno said: “Dad accused me of being a failure. I just wanted silence. So I shut him up.”
He said he had gone to his room to sleep to avoid a further argument with his father. He complained that his dad woke him up and continued to complain that he was not doing his share of the household chores.
He then decided to strangle him to stop nagging.
He said: “I took the first climbing rope I found from the plastic tray of my tools. We were in the hallway and we fell together on the ground. I just remember that I squeezed very tightly.”
Benno said that his mum returned home soon after and he strangled her with the same rope.
He said: “I did it without even saying goodbye.”
The son said that he then threw their bodies off a bridge into the river.
Mr. Benno man is now in prison in Bolzano on charges of murder and body concealment as the investigation continues.

A Nigerian national and a Trinidadian have been arrested for allegedly smuggling 25 Venezuelan women into Trinidad.
A statement issued by Trinidad and Tobago Police on Sunday, March 21, said the 27 persons were arrested by officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise conducted at Icacos overnight.
The exercise, which was conducted between 3 pm on Saturday and 5 am, on Sunday also included officers of the South Western Division’s Intelligence Unit.
During the exercise, officers paid special attention to the Icacos area where they arrested the Venezuelan women for illegal entry into the ports of Trinidad, and the Nigerian and the Trinidadian for aiding and abetting in suspected human trafficking.
The detained persons were taken to the Santa Flora and Erin Police Stations and the Immigration Department was contacted while investigations are ongoing.

The Fast & Furious franchise which has always been about “family”, will see Actor Vin Diesel’s 10-year-old son Vincent Sinclair join him in the ninth instalment of the franchise.
Vincent Sinclairwill be making his big-screen debut this summer in ‘F&F9’ as the younger version of Vin’s character, Dominic Toretto.
Documents obtained by TMZ showed that little Vincent played the role of younger Dom and actually filmed his scenes way back in late 2019 when he was a budding 9-year-old Thespian.
There has already been a flashback to Dom’s younger years in the seventh instalment but the younger version of him was played by Alex McGee. It is unknown how much screentime the youngster will get but his contract says he got paid a daily rate of $1,005.
53-year-old Vin Diesel shares son Vincent with his girlfriend Paloma Jimenez, along with children Hania Riley and Pauline.
F9 stars Vin, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris and Tyrese Gibson and will see the gang facing Dominic’s younger brother Jakob – a deadly assassin who is working with their old enemy Cipher.

Justice E.A Obile of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State has convicted and sentenced one Chibueze Okenwa, a fake United States of American military officer, to two years imprisonment for impersonation contrary to Section 22 (2) (b) ( i & ii) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act, 2015.
He was initially arraigned on March 4, 2021, by the Port Harcourt Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and pleaded “not guilty” to one-count charge bordering on impersonation with intent to gain monetary advantage for himself.
At the resumed hearing of his case on March 18, Okenwa opted to change his plea. He was re-arraigned and pleaded “guilty” to the one-count charge.
The charge reads: “that you Chibueze okenwa (a.k.a Weirt Rodriguz), in 2020, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, fraudulently impersonated yourself as Weirt Rodriguz, a United State Military Officer to one Katia Massoni from Brazil with intent to gain monetary advantage for yourself and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 22 (2) (b) ( i & ii) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act, 2015”.
In view of his plea of “guilty”, prosecution counsel, M. Ibekwute urged the court to convict him accordingly. However, defense counsel, J.I Owubokiri prayed the court to temper justice with mercy.
Justice Obile convicted and sentenced Okenwa to two (2) years imprisonment with an option of fine of Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N350, 000.00).
The judge also ordered that the phone which was used to commit the crime, (a gold and white-coloured Blu dual Sim smartphone) be forfeited to the Federal Government through disposal by public auction and the proceeds paid into the Treasury Single Account, TSA of the Federal Government.

Some filling stations in Imo state have been sealed by the Department of Petroleum Resources.
Zonal Controller of DPR in Imo, Roseline Wilki who spoke to newsmen as she led a team of officials on a routine monitoring exercise in Owerri, the state capital, said the filling stations were sealed for selling Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) also known as petrol above the authorised pump price.
She said;
“We are here to ensure that there is quality, to ensure availability of the product, and to ensure that you don’t have adulterated product and that there is no hoarding.
“We are here to ensure that the operators are selling within the government approved pump price.
“We will definitely sanction those that are not selling within the (government approved) pump price and for the adulteration; we will make sure that they (consumers) get the right product.”
The DPR zonal controller who urged residents in the state to disregard any rumour of an increase in the pump price of petrol, also asked them to report any independent marketer who sells above the normal pump price to the department.
Wilki also warned operators against hoarding and quality delivery. She added;
“Right from the depot, we are going to do carriages inspection and ensure that products that are being loaded are within the correct spec.
“They (residents) should not rely on black market products because wherever they find that there are issues, they should not hesitate to report to the department, and we have offices in almost every state of the Federation.”

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami has explained why he recommended Abdulrasheed Bawa for the chairmanship of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Malami who debunked claims of singlehandedly picking Bawa to be the chairman of the EFFC in an interview with Daily Trust, said four names were submitted to the president for consideration and Bawa was subsequently picked.
The AGF noted that Bawa “has held various authorities, inclusive of serving in various divisions as the head of operations, including Port Harcourt, Lagos and Ibadan which are adjudged to be the high point”.
He also denied being related to the EFCC Chairman and further debunked allegation of Bawa’s appointment subverting some of the functions of the commission.
Malami said;
“I am happy that most of the comments made are not on his capacity, intelligence, competence and associated ability to deliver. His capacity to deliver was never questioned across the nation.
“The question is whether justice has been served, whether public interest has been served having the chairman appointed with a particular regard to his capacity and ability to deliver.
“My answer is yes. He has the capacity, ability and institutional history of the institution to do justice by way of bringing about added value.”

Former South African President, Nelson Mandela’s once-elegant Houghton home in Johannesburg is now an abandoned eyesore.
The house at 12th Avenue in which some of the world’s leading figures were hosted in, was until last year occupied by Mandela’s grandchildren, Ndaba, Mbuso and Andile, who are the sons of the late Makgatho Mandela. Makgatho was Madiba’s son by his first wife, Evelyn.
Sunday Times reported that the electric gate is seemingly broken, portions of the roof fascia are missing or collapsing, the tennis court is crumbling and the tiled roof of one of the outbuildings is sagging.
The once-manicured pavement garden where well-wishers placed stones painted with messages of hope shortly before Madiba’s death in 2013, is now overgrown and littered with rubbish.
It was also learnt that the three brothers lived in the house after Mandela’s death, but Ndaba said they moved out after the Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela (NRM) Family Trust stopped paying the utility bills.
The house is owned by Mandela’s company, Iterele Investments. On his death, Iterele and the house vested in his estate under the control of the executors which include former deputy chief justice Dikgang Moseneke.
Mandela bequeathed the shares in Iterele, and therefore the house to the trust. However, the estate is yet to effect this transfer.
When the Sunday Times team visited the house last week, a man who opened the gate said it was being sold. He said;
“I have come to help Mandela’s grandsons … We have put furniture in storerooms. From last week people have been to see the house.”
Ndaba Mandela had accused Moseneke and advocate Wim Trengove, a trustee of the NRM Family Trust of displacing him and his brothers by failing to pay the municipal bills. He alleged they wanted to sell the house. Moseneke and Trengove dismissed the allegations, saying the trust stopped paying the bills after they suddenly more than tripled to about R50,000 a month.
Mandela’s will stipulated that he wanted Makgatho and his children to have use of the house “in perpetuity”.
“The trustees shall … pay all assessment rates and other municipal charges and fees in respect of the Houghton property … and maintain the Houghton property in good order and condition.”
Ndaba however alleged that trustees failed to stick the willl. He said;
“The trustees decided not to pay for lights in order to kick us out”, and it was the trust’s fault that the house was now an eyesore.
“Moseneke brought people to the house without telling the family so they could do an evaluation. The house is worth between R10m and R15m.”
He added that while the majority of the family had voted to sell the house, “he was one of the few who voted not to. It belongs in the family. I will fight for it, with everything that I have.”
Moseneke on his own part said he had performed his duties “lawfully, honestly and to the best of my ability, properly assisted by two reputable law firms who manage the day-to-day affairs of the deceased estate”.
He added “I have [alerted] the law firms to these manifold bizarre imputations. I have served as executor at no remuneration. I deny any act of impropriety. I will not respond to baseless accusations.”
One of the trustees, Mr Trengrove however stated that the trust had no legal responsibility to contribute towards the house’s upkeep and municipal bills but had to do so because the family “implored the trust to help.
Trengrove reiterated that they stopped paying the bills because they “shot up from about R15,000 per month to about R50,000 per month without any explanation”.
He said;
“We resumed payment, and paid all the arrears, when the bills came down again to their former level.
“We stopped paying because we felt that we could not spend R50,000 per month of the trust’s money, for which it had no liability, without any explanation for the inordinately high bills.”
Trengrove also revealed that an “overwhelming” majority of Mandela family members had agreed that the house should be sold “if and when” it is transferred to the trust.
Ndaba however defended the bills increment by stating that it shot up due to a leak. He averred that it was repaired at his cost.

Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva has given an assurance of the Port Harcourt Refinery being functional in 18 months.
Sylva said this in an interview on Channels Television, in reaction to controversy that trailed the approval of $1.5 billion for the rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt Refinery (an amount which many had described as too much for the project).
The Minister who insisted that the rehabilitation exercise is not a waste of funds, added that there are plans to also fix the Warri Refinery and Kaduna Refinery.
He said;
“Port Harcourt Refinery will work, and certainly within the next 18 months.
“There are plans to also fix the Warri Refinery and Kaduna Refinery and then we would get all those staff to work.”
Sylva debunked insinuations that the rehabilitation could have taken less than N500m, while also listing how the project will be fuded.
He added;
“You see, Nigerians like to bandy figures. I can tell you, that that cannot be true. We are talking with the professionals.
“Let me tell you how this rehabilitation is going to be funded; it is not going to be all debts, we are not going to borrow all the monies that are going into the rehabilitation (project),” he added.
“Some of the money will come from NNPC’s internally generated revenue – from NPDC, some of it will come from the Federal appropriation, and just a little fraction will come from the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank).”

Leicester City have now qualified for the FA cup semi-final and will play Southampton for a place in the FA Cup final after a Kelechi Iheanacho brace helped the Foxes to a 3-1 win over Manchester United at the King Power Stadium on Sunday night, March 21.
Leicester, clearly the better side mesmerized Manchester United with their intense pressing style from the beginning.
Fred starting alongside a below par Matic, played a ball straight to Iheanacho in the box in the first half to which the Nigerian calmly grabbed and opened the scoring.
Despite United failing to click throughout the opening period, they equalized towards half time through Mason Greenwood’s tidy finish after good work from Paul Pogba and Van Der Beek down the left.
In the second half, United’s midfield just watched Youri Tielemans stroll past them and slot a superb finish beyond goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
United brought in star player Bruno Fernandes, Edison Cavani and Luke Shaw and maintained some pressure, but it was to no avail as Iheanacho’s back-post header sealed the game with barely minutes to go.

Former US President, Donald Trump is coming back to social media but this time with his own network, a spokesperson of the former world leader had revealed.
The announcement comes after Trump was permanently suspended from Twitter and other social platforms, such as Facebook, following his incitement of the US Capitol riots on January 6 — where hundreds of Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol building, leaving five people dead.
Jason Miller, Trump’s long-time adviser and spokesperson for Trump’s 2020 campaign told Howard Kurtz on Fox’s “MediaBuzz” Sunday programme that Trump will be “returning to social media in probably about two or three months.”
He added that Trump’s return will be with “his own platform” that will attract “tens of millions” of new users and “completely redefine the game.”

The Argentine football legend now has the record for Barcelona with his start against Real Sociedad marking his 768th for the club.
Earlier in the season, he surpassed Xavi on Barca’s list of appearance-makers in La Liga alone, but the Real Sociedad match takes him to the top of matches played in all competitions.
Out of previous 767 games, Messi’s record stands at 536 matches won, 140 matches drawn and he has lost 91.

Atletico Madrid and Uruguay striker, Luis Suarez, is now among the 500 goal club after scoring in a crucial La Liga victory against Alaves on Sunday night, March 21.
Luis Suarez netted the goal in the 54th minute of Atletico Madrid’s clash with Alaves as he headed home a cross from Kieran Trippier to give the La Liga’s leaders the lead.
The goal was Suarez’s 19th league goal of the season, with only Lionel Messi having more in La Liga this season, with 21.
Suarez is now the first Uruguayan player to ever reach the 500 goal landmark.
At Barcelona he scored 198, at Ajax he netted 111 goals while he scored 82 times during his stay at Liverpool.
For his country, Suarez has scored 63 times, while he scored 15 for his old clubs Groningen and 12 for Nacional.

We lived together with my husband in Migori County in south Nyanza parts of Kenya. I had my life time best friend whom I had found a job that I wanted her to do. So the best way she could have done the job was to come at my place stay for a while before moving to her own house.
Three days later we welcomed Mercy at our house. My husband really warm welcomed her because I had really informed him that she was to stay in our house for a period of a month before things would work out well on her side. We lived happily as even people would say she was my sister since we had really good moments together.
After sometimes my husband had started to love Mercy as he could at some point buy her clothes and other materialistic things that he dared bought for me. I did not hesitate to ask him why he had really changed. To some extent he even seized my conjugal rights.
Each time I asked for the behavior, he would roar and say he was just exhibiting his human kind to her and nothing more was between him and Mercy at any particular time. After sometimes I came to realize they were really charting on phone as one day I bashed my husband sending her love messages and nudes to my friend mercy. I was really hurt by this behavior. One day mercy said she wanted to go back to her home for two days. When he left at least three under pants of my husband were missing. I knew well she had gone to do some witchcraft deeds with them.
Three days after he came back, my husband had really changed. He even went to the point of calling Mercy his wife and forgot everything about myself.

A doctor who was jailed after his lover overdosed on cocaine sprinkled on his genitals has been ordered to pay compensation to her husband and son.
Dr. Andreas David Niederbichler, 45, who was sentenced to nine years in jail in 2019 after he was found guilty of aggravated rape and bodily harm was ordered to pay £25,000.
Niederbichler is alleged to have been having an affair with a woman only identified as Yvonne M (38) who was his former patient.
On the fateful day, the accused is alleged to have put cocaine on his genitals without the knowledge of Yvonne. During their sexual rendevous, Yvonne and the accused had consensual oral s_x before she collapsed at his home in Halberstadt, Germany after she overdosed on the cocaine he had put on his genitals.
She later died in hospital and cocaine overdose was reported as the cause of death.
Following his conviction, Yvonne’s family pursued him in a civil lawsuit for wrongful death, Metro reports.
After years of deliberating over the case, the Magdeburg court in the state of Saxony-Anhalt finally convicted him and ordered him to pay Yvonne’s family financial compensation.
Niederbichler was ordered to pay the funeral costs in the amount of £7,337, as well as survivor benefits to the deceased’s husband and the son in the amount of £8,581 each.’
Apparently, after investigations, it was also discovered that this was not the first time the doctor had used cocaine in this way. He is alleged to have drugged and sexually assaulted three other women between September 2015 and February 2018.

A United-Kingdom based Zimbabwean nurse has been sentenced to two years probation and 100 hours of community service following an audacious attempt at insurance fraud. The nurse tried to claim almost £ 400,000. (US$ 554,000) by faking her husband’s death.
51-year-old Thuile Bhebhe claimed that her husband, Bekezela Bhebhe, had died in Zimbabwe in August 2016 and attempted to get life insurance worth £397,153 from Aviva. She submitted fake documents, including a forged death certificate which showed that her husband had purportedly died in Nkayi, Matabeleland North. During an interview, she also claimed that she had attended the funeral.
However, in her haste to claim the money, Bhebhe made errors on the paperwork. The discrepancies in the paperwork raised red flags at Aviva leading the insurance company to investigate the claim further.
According to the City of London Police, investigators at Aviva discovered that Bhebhe’s husband was alive and well. The police went on to say that “simple checks” revealed that the husband who is also a nurse, had worked a long day shift at Charing Cross Hospital, on the day that he supposedly died thousands of kilometres away in rural Zimbabwe. After unearthing the fraudulent action, Aviva referred the case to the City of London Police’s Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED).
Bhebhe who had already previously pleaded guilty at the City of London Magistrates Court in November 2018 appeared at the Inner London Crown Court on 15 March 2021 for sentencing. She was sentenced to two years imprisonment. However, the two years were wholly suspended. She was also sentenced to 100 hours of community service, with a twenty-five-day Rehabilitation Activity Requirement.
However, her husband Bekezela Bhebhe was cleared following a trial after he denied any involvement in the fraud. He claimed that he was not aware of what he was actually signing. During questioning, Bekezela Bhebhe is reported to have said,
“I don’t think I’m involved in all this. I know very little about this insurance. The day it was taken over I was there in the house but I wasn’t fully involved, I was just there to sign the papers and say yes.
“I just thought it was ongoing insurance. I never really got into the details of the contracts, what the agreements are.”
During his trial, jurors heard that the husband was questioned by police and admitted he had credit card debts of £10,000, owed around £5,000 to HMRC in tax and was paying off a joint loan of around £15,000 with his wife.
Speaking on the case, Detective Constable James Rafiq, from the City of London Police’s Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department, said:
“Mrs Bhebhe tried to exploit Aviva and steal nearly £400,000 by shamelessly claiming her husband had died. Although she has shown remorse, these fraudulent actions have tainted years of commendable work as NHS nurses for both her and her husband.
“Thanks to Aviva’s diligence when initially reviewing the claim, and their swift action in referring it to IFED for further investigation, Mrs Bhebhe’s ridiculous lie was exposed and she has been rightly punished.”
Jacqueline Kerwood, Claims Governance Manager for Individual Protection at Aviva, said:
“This was a particularly audacious act of dishonesty by Mrs Bhebhe – in attempting to claim nearly £400,000 by falsely claiming her own husband’s death. Fortunately, it was quickly detected by our expert investigators, and we’re pleased to see justice has been done. This is also very good news for our genuine customers, who ultimately bear the cost of fraud through their premiums. In this case, however, it’s Mrs Bhebhe who will pay the cost for her crime.”

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed Abba Abbey Gidan Haki, the personal aide to former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aliyu Wamakko.
The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Senator Wamakko, Bashir Rabe Mani, who confirmed the incident said that Abbey,50, was abducted on Thursday night, March 18.
His corpse was found dumped along a road to Durbawa town in Kware Local Government Area of Sokoto on Friday, March 19.
The deceased was buried on Friday night according to Islamic rites. His funeral prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Sheikh Uthman Bin Fodiyo Juma’at Mosque, Sokoto, Sheikh Abubakar Shehu Na Liman.
The funeral prayer was attended by Senator Wamakko, the Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi; the Sokoto APC acting chairman, Alhaji Isa Sadiq Achida; traditional rulers , Islamic clerics, members of the National and State Assemblies, serving and retired civil servants as well as thousands of sympathisers, among others.
He is survived by a wife and five children.

Maddox Pitt, the eldest son of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt has testified against his father in their lengthy divorce and custody battle.
Us Weekly reported that the university student, 19, appeared to take Angelina’s side as he spoke during their lengthy custody battle.
Maddox’s testimony was allegedly not “very flattering” toward his father, Brad Pitt.
A source also revealed that Maddox wants to legally remove ‘Pitt’ from his name, something his mother ‘doesn’t support.’
“He doesn’t use Pitt as his last name on documents that aren’t legal and instead uses Jolie. Maddox wants to legally change his last name to Jolie, which Angelina has said she doesn’t support.”
In addition to Maddox, the famous exes share Pax, 17, Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 14, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 12.
On March 12, the 45-year-old actress filed new court documents that alleged “domestic violence”.
The Sun confirmed that Angelina, 45, filed court papers earlier this month to “offer proof and support” of “testimony regarding domestic violence.”
The actress made no indication the “domestic violence” matter mentioned in the documents was related to her estranged husband, 57.
She also offered “proof” in support of their minor children testifying at trial.
The Maleficent actress filed for divorce from Brad in September 2016, citing irreconcilable differences.
The famous pair were married for two years, while they were together for a total of 12 years.
After the actress filed for divorce, it was reported that Brad was allegedly involved in an incident with Maddox while on a private jet.
At the time, witnesses claimed Brad flew into a drunken rage on the plane and “got physical” with eldest son Maddox. The witnesses said Brad was “out of control” and allegedly clashed with the then 15-year-old.
Following a review, the FBI and Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family cleared the actor of any wrongdoing.
Brad and Angelina’s current trial will determine custody of their children and divide their estate.
Brad wants joint custody of the minor children, while Angelina is fighting for sole custody in the ongoing nasty divorce.

Migos rapper, Quavo has allegedly taken back the 2021 Bentley convertible he gifted his ex-girlfriend, Saweetie for Christmas after she broke up with him.
Recall in December 2020, Quavo, 29, splashed $350,000 on Bentley convertible for his then rapper girlfriend, 26, for Christmas.
On Friday, March 19, Saweetie announced their break-up on Twitter and suggested that Quavo had been caught cheating.
She wrote in her tweet: I’m single,” she wrote. “I’ve endured too much betrayal and hurt behind the scenes for a false narrative to be circulating that degrades my character. Presents don’t band aid scars and the love isn’t real when the intimacy is given to other women.”
“I emotionally checked out a long time ago and have walked away with a deep sense of peace and freedom,” she added in a second tweet. “Excited for this new chapter of elevation.”
Shortly after, Quavo shared his own tweets, saying that he had love for her but she isn’t the woman he thought she was.
“I know you want to make this into a show so I’ll play my part just this one time. I don’t normally put my business out there, especially my personal life. I feel the need to address this so there are no false narratives,” he wrote.
Media Take Out News has reported that Quavo has repossessed the 2021 Bentley convertible that he “gifted” to Saweetie for Christmas.
A source, who confirmed the new development, explained that “Quavo’s no dummy – the Bentley wasn’t in her name.”
The insiders claims that the Bentley was “leased” in Quavo’s name and that the Migos rapper had a deal with the dealership that he could for a fee end the lease early, and the dealership would repossess the car and let him out of the contract.
That’s exactly what Quavo did, according to his friend.
The insider continued, “He’s not being petty or anything, but she’s on Twitter talking sh*t. So he took back the car.”
The insider claims that Saweetie’s car was taken from outside Saweetie’s home – very early on Saturday, March 20.

Former Presidential aide, Doyin Okupe has apologized for the incendiary statement he made about an Igbo Presidency.
He had tweeted: “A national consensus for Igbo Presidency cannot evolve until the core north forgives the Igbos for the killing of Sardauna of Sokoto by nigerian soldiers of igbo extraction in the 1966 Coup.”
He was slammed for his statement, making him trend on Twitter.
Hours after, he returned to Twitter to apologise.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) which was set-up in October 2020 to investigate allegations of human rights abuses against the disbanded special anti-robbery squad (SARS) following the #ENDSARS protests, has award N575.8 million to victims of police brutality.
Deputy director of public affairs in NHRC,Fatimah Mohammed who made the announcement on Friday March 19, said the decision was made at the panel’s executive session in which 20 of the petitions which bordered on extrajudicial killing, unlawful arrest, detention, torture, among other issues were considered.
The police were further directed to issue an apology to victims of police brutality by the panel which also agreed that the victims of human rights who got court judgments should be paid.
The statement read;
“The executive session considered 20 out of the 44 petitions on non-adherence by the police of court judgments awarding compensations to victims of human rights violations, and decisions were made on each of the petitions otherwise known as judgment debts,” Mohammed said.
“The petitions on judgment debts of about N575.8million were considered ranging from the award of N200 million to ?120,000 of cases bordering on extra-judicial killing, unlawful arrest and detention.
“Others are cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment and torture, alleged enforced disappearance, confiscation of property, etc.
“The police would have to make a commitment to respect court orders while part of the money will be paid from the human rights compensation funds which are expected to be paid for such purposes.
“Apart from assisting the victims of human rights violations to get their compensation paid, Ogbonna said the panel has also taken a decision to order the police authority to issue apologies to some of the petitioners who have issuance of apology as part of their compensation”.

Doctors were left shocked when a housewife on her period started crying tears of blood in an extremely rare medical anomaly.
The 25-year-old woman from Chandigarh, India, was diagnosed with haemolacria after seeking help for the condition at the city’s Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Dailystar reports.
Haemolacria is a physical condition that causes a person to produce tears that are partially composed of blood.
Dr Soumitra Ghosh, who documented the case in a new study, said: “Haemolacria means bloody tears. Patients will have blood coming out from one or both eyes.

“Blood coming out with tears is a very alarming clinical entity both for the patient and physician. If you see blood coming out from the eyes, you can imagine how scary a situation it is.
“Haemolacria is a rare clinical condition. It has multiple causes. One of the causes is vicarious menstruation.
“Vicarious menstruation is defined as cyclical bleeding in other extrauterine organs like the nose, eyes, ears, intestine, lungs, nipples and skin.
“Haemolacria due to vicarious menstruation is very, very rare. Only a few cases have been reported in the medical literature so far.”
The exact cause of the condition is uncertain, but doctors think the fact that the patient was menstruating at the time could be important.
Dr Gosh explained how the condition appears to be the eyes’ blood vessels responding to hormonal changes in the body.
He continued: “Certain ocular and orbital tissues are seen to be hormonally responsive.
“Oestrogen and progesterone can increase the permeability of the capillaries resulting in hyperemia, congestion and secondary bleeding from extrauterine tissue.”
The patient was treated with oral oestrogen-progesterone contraceptive pills (combined pill).
On her three month follow-up, the patient was on these pills and she’d had no repeat of the episode.

Finland has been ranked as the happiest country in the world for the fourth year in a row despite the COVID-19 pandemic, according to this year’s World Happiness Report.
The World Happiness Report, which was launched in 2012, is an annual survey conducted by the U.N.’s Sustainable Development Solutions Network. The survey ranks global happiness in countries around the world.
The happiness index included surveys on how countries have dealt with the coronavirus pandemic that has shaken the world for more than a year.
The report’s authors said this year’s survey examined the effects of the crisis on the structure and quality of people’s lives as well as how governments dealt with it.
“Surprisingly there was not, on average, a decline in well-being when measured by people’s own evaluation of their lives,” said University of British Columbia professor John Helliwell, one of the people behind the report. “One possible explanation is that people see Covid-19 as a common, outside threat affecting everybody and that this has generated a greater sense of solidarity and fellow-feeling.”
On this year’s report, Iceland came in second, followed by Denmark, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.

At least two persons including an official of the Nigerian Correctional Service are feared dead after some unknown gunmen opened fire on a prison van.
The incident occurred in Ekwulobia area of Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State around 11am on Friday March 19, when some inmates were being conveyed back from court to the Aguata custodial centre.
The gun duel that lasted for about 10 minutes was reportedly perpetrated by suspected hoodlums in two vehicles, a sienna bus and a hilux pick-up that trailed the court duty vehicle from the court premises.
The gunmen reportedly killed the corrections officer and whisked away the inmate being taken back to the custodial centre.
The Public Relations Officer of Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Mr Francis Ekechukwu said in a statement;
Gunmen yet to be identified attacked the court duty Vehicle of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Anambra State at Nanka while conveying inmates back from court to the Aguata custodial centre. The attackers killed the Corrections officer and whisked away the inmate being taken back to the Custodial Centre.

Although the armed escort put up a gallant resistance, he was unfortunately overpowered by the hoodlums who came in their numbers with sophisticated weapons.
Meanwhile, the body of the fallen officer has been deposited in the mortuary awaiting further necessary action.
The state Controller, Nwakeze Emmanuel while expressing his deep shock over the incident, has advised the public and indeed officers and men of the Command to remain calm as investigations have commenced with the collaboration of other security agencies. He appealed to members of the public to avail security agencies with useful intelligence that will lead to the arrest of those behind the dastardly act.

The former lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Dino Melaye says he regrets supporting the Buhari-led administration in 2015.
Back in 2015, Dino was a member of APC and he campaigned for President Buhari. Melaye was among those that canvassed support for Buhari’s presidential ambition, having dumped the PDP for the ruling APC.
Dino has since defected to PDP and has continued to show his disdain for the APC and the Buhari-led administration.
In an interview with Channels TV on Friday March 19, Dino asked God and Nigerians for forgiveness.

Governor Nyesom Wike has claimed that his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi became Governor of Rivers state through his help.
Wike who served as Chief of Staff during Amaechi’s tenure, made the disclosure during an interview with BBC pidgin on Friday March 19.
The Rivers state Governor stated in the interview that he wonders how someone he made Governor will turn around to call him an employee.
He said;
“Amaechi and I were in the same party, and in politics, everybody has his own ambition. He had his ambition to be governor, and at the time, I didn’t. So, we fought and supported him to be governor.
“Now he’s in APC, and you don’t expect me as a PDP person to support what he does.
“I was the one God used to make Amaechi governor. I will even give you a tape from what he said in the church; that after God, I’m next. But when he was talking the other day, saying I was his staff, his employee, I said no problem.
“We all sat to make you governor, and I was the one who championed it. How do you call someone who made you governor an employee? When he became governor, he asked me; how are we going to run this government, and he offered me to be commissioner of finance, but I said no, let me be in the chief of staff office.
“That time I made him governor, I had power to choose. People know in this state.
“With his APC, did they even score 25 percent here during the 2015 and 2019 elections? His staff stopped him from winning Rivers for his presidential candidate? Stopped him from winning the governorship election for his candidate? Not even a senatorial seat?
“Well, we have passed that. He said over his dead body will I be governor, now I am looking for that dead body. I have been governor for eight years now. In 2015 when I won, they said PDP was in power, but I also won again in 2019 when APC was in power.”
Wike also accused his predecessor of mismanaging the state funds when he was governor. He reiterated that Ameachi allegedly sold the state’s gas turbine for $308,000 and left his government with $208,000.
The Governor said;
“See the monorail, just 1.5 kilometre, they said they spent N54 billion. I am not saying anybody is corrupt, but just see all these monies we have mentioned.”

A lady has revealed that she and her sister are pregnant and are both having girls on same due date.
This is not the first time both sisters have been pregnant same period.
The lady disclosed that her son and that of her sister are 4 months apart. She described their pregnancies as unplanned.

Real Madrid coach, Zinedine Zidane, has reacted to recent reports Cristiano Ronaldo could make a shock return back to the Spanish giants.
Since Juventus exited the UEFA champions league last week, there have been reports that former clubs Real Madrid and PSG might be interested in signing him up.
According to Zidane, whose club has been experiencing difficulties since Ronaldo’s departure, ‘it may be’ true that Juventus talisman Cristiano Ronaldo could return to the club.
The French coach was interviewed by Sky ahead of the return leg against Atalanta in the last 16 of the Champions League and the reporters wanted to know about the possibility of Ronaldo’s return to the Santiago Bernabeu.
“Yes, it may be,” Zidane replied. “We know Cristiano, we know the person he is and everything he has done here.
“But now he’s a Juventus player and we must respect this.
“Now, let’s see what the future will be. I was lucky enough to coach him and he is very impressive. Right now, he’s helping Juventus.”

Marilyn Hartman, a serial American stowaway with a history of illegally boarding planes without a ticket, is back in jail after being arrested at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.
The 69-year-old, known as the “Serial Stowaway”, was tracked after her electronic monitor was allegedly activated when she left the facility where she was staying. She was caught attempting to stowaway on a flight at Chicago O’Hare International Airport on Tuesday, March 16.
She is currently being held on a trespassing charge, reports Associated Press.
Marilyn has snuck onto more than 30 commercial flights without a ticket.
In 2018, she managed to get through security at O’Hare and board a flight to London Heathrow without a passport or a ticket.
She was last arrested in October 2019 as she attempted to pass security at Chicago O’Hare security, one of the busiest airports in the US.
After the latest incident, Cook County Judge David Nararro told Hartman: “You didn’t just go for a walk, you went to the one place you specifically can’t go… O’Hare Airport.”
She has been charged with escaping from electronic monitoring, and will next appear in court on Monday, March 22.
Hartman’s lawyer, Andrea Lubelfeld said she visited the airport for the first time in a year because she was upset after seeing herself in a TV news interview.
Andrea Lubelfeld added: “She has a mental illness that was triggered by something out of her control, and she reacted not, perhaps, in making the best choice.”
Her latest arrest comes two weeks after a judge rejected a plea deal for 18 months of probation for a previous stowaway attempt.
Officials are planning to seek a felony escape charge for Hartman.
Hartman first boarded a flight illegally in 2002 from Chicago to Copenhagen in Denmark. That same year, she caught another international flight to Paris without a ticket.
In August 2004, she was caught flying from San Jose in California to Las Vegas.
On being asked how she managed to get past the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints without a boarding pass, she told CBS News: “I was always let through. I mean I was able to go through the security line without a boarding pass.”
She added: “I got by them, this is the thing that is so crazy, by following someone they would be carrying like a blue bag. And the next thing I know, I get into the TSA line and TSA lets me through, and they think I’m with the guy with the blue bag.”

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has raised alarm over the circulation of fake COVID19 vaccines in the country.
Nigeria on March 2 received 3.92 million doses of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccines and has since launched the vaccination programme in the country.
The Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye, raised the alarm in a statement released by the agency’s Resident Media Consultant, Sayo Akintola. She warned Nigerians to “refrain from procuring the vaccine online to avoid falling into the wrong hands of merchants of death.”
“The public must be on the lookout for these spurious and counterfeit vaccines and other regulated products” she warned
She also warned Nigerians to be vigilant and expose anyone who might want to divert COVID-19 vaccines donated by international donors for profiteering.

Elliot Page formerly known as Ellen Page has revealed he’s undergone surgery to remove his breasts and says it’s changed his life for the better as he now feels like his true self since coming out as transgender.
The Juno star, born Ellen Page, announced he was non-binary and transgender in December, as he shared his preferred pronouns of “he” and “they”
Page has now disclosed that he has undergone surgery to remove breast tissue and reconstruct the remaining chest tissue and skin.
In a candid interview with Time Magazine, the actor, who showed off his new look on the cover shoot, said he actually feels like himself now when he looks in the mirror, and more energized than ever, adding … “It has completely transformed my life”, it was “not only life-changing but lifesaving”.
Page recalled struggling to feel comfortable in the female form after shooting to fame with the 2007 teen pregnancy drama Juno.
“I just never recognised myself,” he confessed, adding: “For a long time I could not even look at a photo of myself.”
Even just being offered women’s clothing to wear caused Page to feel sick: “(I didn’t know) how to explain to people that even though (I was) an actor, just putting on a T-shirt cut for a woman would make me so unwell.”

Executive director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Faisal Shuaib has announced that all states in the country have received supplies of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine which arrived the country weeks ago, except Kogi.
Shuaib who disclosed this on Thursday March 18, said Kogi is yet to receive the vaccine due to the non-repair of their cold-chain store coupled with the state’s concerns around the contradictory information about the vaccine.
On the national roll-out of the vaccine, the NPHCDA boss said;
“The vaccination application has been launched in most states’ treatment centres even against distractions and criticism of the FG’s efforts to ensure availability of vaccines in the nation.
“The roll-out of the vaccines across healthcare front-line workers and other health support staff was scheduled to commence by March 15, 2021, in some States, with the intention of wider coverage after the training of the states’ health workers across board.”
Shuaib who revealed that the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) had been co-opted to support the PTF on Vaccine Accountability to ensure the safekeeping of the vaccines, made calls for tight security around the vaccines in the states to avoid it being vandalised by hoodlums.
He also promised that Nigeria will receive the second tranche of vaccines before the second dose intake is concluded.
