In a significant victory against the relentless scourge of drug trafficking, the Jigawa State Police Command has announced a major breakthrough, arresting three notorious drug dealers and confiscating an astonishing over 23,000 units of assorted illicit drugs across various parts of the state.
This critical operation, confirmed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, in Dutse on Tuesday, marks a substantial blow to the drug networks operating within Jigawa and its neighboring states.
An Intelligence-Led Operation Nets Key Players
The arrests were the result of meticulously planned, joint intelligence-led raids conducted by dedicated police units from Garki, Fagam, and Maigatari divisions on October 18, 2025. This coordinated effort highlights the police force’s commitment to proactive, strategic enforcement.
The suspects, who have been under intense police surveillance for their deep involvement in drug trafficking, have been identified as:
- Muhammad Garba, 60, from Mekiya village, Kano State.
- Musa Garba, 55.
- Hudu Ma’ilu, from Guneri village, Niger Republic.
Their apprehension signals the disruption of potentially widespread distribution channels stretching beyond Jigawa’s borders.
A Staggering Haul: Drugs Destined for Communities
The sheer volume and variety of narcotics recovered during these operations are alarming. Officers seized a staggering total of 23,944 assorted illicit drugs, preventing them from reaching vulnerable individuals, particularly the youth.
The confiscated substances include:
- 13,505 units of Exol
- 1,583 units of D5
- 3,572 Tramadol tablets
- 565 Diazepam capsules
- 2,469 bottles of Rubber Solution (often used as an inhalant for its psychoactive effects)
In addition to these, a significant quantity of cannabis was confiscated, both in block form and 886 wraps, alongside other hard drugs such as Sock and Die, Akurkura, and 340 units of Farin Malam.
SP Adam rightly emphasized that this enormous quantity of drugs posed a severe threat to the health, well-being, and security of the youth and communities across the state. The potential for addiction, crime, and social decay associated with such widespread availability of illicit substances cannot be overstated.
Unwavering Determination and a Call for Public Support
The suspects are currently in police custody, undergoing thorough investigations. SP Adam assured the public that they would be charged in court after preliminary inquiries are completed, ensuring justice is served.
The police command has reiterated its unwavering determination to eradicate drug trafficking and abuse from Jigawa State. This recent success is a testament to that commitment.
Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, Dahiru Muhammed, commended the officers involved for their exceptional courage and dedication during the operations, reinforcing the command’s zero-tolerance policy on drug-related crimes.
This victory is not just for the police, but for every citizen who desires a safer, healthier community. The PPRO appealed to the public to continue supporting law enforcement by providing credible information that aids in catching criminals and urged citizens to promptly report any suspicious activities related to drug dealings.
By working together, law enforcement and the community can continue to dismantle these dangerous networks and protect the future of Jigawa State.
