Will the United States strike Iran again as negotiations stall? According to several American media outlets, military preparations for a possible renewed operation are underway, although Donald Trump has not yet made a final decision.
The US president reportedly canceled a planned weekend trip to his golf club in New Jersey, as well as his attendance at his son Donald Jr.’s wedding, after receiving a briefing on Iran and potential military options. Sources close to the White House say Trump is increasingly frustrated by the lack of progress in talks with Tehran, despite a ceasefire that has held for more than six weeks.
Diplomatic efforts are still continuing behind the scenes. Pakistan, which is mediating between Washington and Tehran, has intensified contacts, while Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently mentioned “progress” in negotiations.
At the same time, domestic pressure is mounting on Trump. Polls suggest growing opposition among Americans — including Republican voters — to another military escalation in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, Israel is becoming increasingly concerned over its exclusion from the negotiations. According to Israeli security officials cited by US and Israeli media, the Trump administration has largely kept Israel out of ceasefire talks with Iran.
Israeli leaders fear Washington could accept a limited agreement that ignores Iran’s ballistic missile program while easing sanctions, potentially allowing Tehran to rebuild its regional influence. For Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, hopes of weakening the Iranian regime or ending its nuclear ambitions now appear increasingly out of reach.
