Abductors Demand N20m Ransom Each for Six Abducted Nigerian Law Students

Benue State, Nigeria – The abductors of six Nigerian Law School students, who were kidnapped over the weekend, have reportedly demanded a ransom of N20 million for each victim, bringing the total sum requested to N120 million for their release. Tori Express learnt of the recent demand.

The students were reportedly seized by suspected gunmen on Saturday while travelling through Benue State. They were en route from Onitsha, Anambra State, to the Yola campus of the Nigerian Law School in Adamawa State.

Tori Express had previously reported on Sunday that the incident occurred in the late hours of Saturday, as the students were making their way back to resume academic activities at the Yola campus. The campus was scheduled to reopen on Monday following their court externship break.

The abduction was confirmed by fellow law student Damilare Adenola, speaking in a telephone interview on Sunday. Adenola stated, “Six students of the Nigerian Law School have been reportedly kidnapped by suspected bandits while travelling to resume school after their court externship break.”

He identified some of the missing students as Rev. Ernest Okafor, Ogbuka Fabian, Nwamma Philip, Okechukwu Obadiegwu, Obalem Emmanuel, and Obiorah David.

According to Adenola, reports suggest the abduction took place along the notorious route between Wukari in Taraba State and a section of Benue State. This area is unfortunately known for its insecurity and frequent attacks on travellers. The demand for a N20 million ransom per student marks a fresh and concerning development in the ongoing saga.
