MetLife Stadium, USA – Chelsea forward Joao Pedro has launched a scathing attack on Paris Saint-Germain, branding them “bad losers” following the Blues’ FIFA Club World Cup final victory over the French champions on Sunday night. The comments came amidst a heated on-pitch confrontation that marred Chelsea’s triumph.
The highly anticipated final saw Chelsea emerge victorious, securing the FIFA Club World Cup trophy thanks to crucial goals from Cole Palmer and Pedro himself.
However, the celebrations were quickly overshadowed by a tense post-match incident. Following the final whistle, Pedro was seen clashing with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. The situation escalated rapidly, with Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique also becoming embroiled in the on-pitch melee.
During the altercation, Enrique then appeared to strike Pedro, unceremoniously sending the former Brighton man falling to the floor.
Speaking after the contentious encounter at the MetLife Stadium, Pedro did not mince words when describing his opponents’ behaviour.
“They’re bad losers,” Pedro stated unequivocally. He then recounted his involvement in the altercation and the alleged physical contact: “I went to defend my teammate. I was pushed and fell down to the ground.”
Pedro’s explosive comments and the dramatic post-match scenes have added a new layer of controversy to what was otherwise a monumental victory for Chelsea on the global stage.
