How to Install a WordPress Adsense Code

You’ve finished designing your small business’s WordPress site, filled it with content and built up a steady stream of visitors. Now, if you host your site on your own server or use WordPress’s VIP service, its time to monetize it with advertisements and affiliate links to start turning your traffic into revenue. After signing up for a service to place these ads on your site, install the ad code which the service gives you in the index.php file of your WordPress theme. Even if you are not a professional programmer, you can install the code through your blog’s dashboard.

    1

Log in to your advertising service’s website, then copy the tracking code you need to install on your WordPress blog to your clipboard by selecting the code and pressing “Ctrl-C.”

    2

Log in to your WordPress account. Click your blog name in the dark gray bar across the top of the screen, then click “Dashboard” in the drop-down menu.

    3

Click on “Appearance” in your left sidebar and select “Editor” from the menu.

    4

Select “index.php” from the list of your theme’s files in the right sidebar.

    5

Paste your ad code into the text box holding the page’s source code by clicking the line where you want the ad code to begin, then pressing “Ctrl-V.”

    6

Click the blue “Update File” button below the text box to install your ad code.
